Social interactions involve both cooperation to achieve a shared goal and competition over shared resources and rewards. The ability to engage in inter-personal coordination is an important measure of socio-emotional and cognitive well-being. Both cooperation and competition require interpersonal coordination, however with different motivational backgrounds. Competition is defined by a higher level of extrinsic motivation, while cooperation is related to more intrinsic motivation. In the context of the parent-child dyad, each individual has different motivations and contributions to the dyad. The parent's and child's sense of competitiveness and contribution to inter-personal synchrony will presumably differ from each other and adapt to one another. The current research employed Motion Energy Analysis, an objective measure of coordination of movements between individuals, to measure motor in-phase and anti-phase synchrony during parent-child cooperative and competitive play, with a focus on parent and child-led synchrony. Findings highlight that parents rate themselves as less competitive than their children rate themselves; with no such difference noted in cooperation. Further, parent-led motor synchrony is defined more by in-phase coordination in competition, especially when the interaction is novel. Alternatively, child-led motor synchrony is more anti-phase during competition. In cooperation parents and children lead synchrony to the same extent and in the same phase. Current findings highlight that parent's and children uniquely adjust their leading behaviors in synchrony in competition, presumably adjusting their behavior to accommodate a complex situation. Given the importance of cooperative and competitive interactions to overall social well-being, and the parent's role of modeling behaviors for their child, findings may direct future guidance and treatment plans that will promote social development. Purpose: The aim of this research note is to introduce a new appraisal form, the Classroom Communication and Collaboration (C3) Appraisal, designed to evaluate communication and collaboration within classroom settings. Method: A comprehensive synthesis of the key skills from a broad range of publications on successful communication and collaboration in the classroom was conducted. The resulting appraisal comprises 39 items across six scales: crafting clear messages, appropriateness of communication exchange, active listening, pragmatics and discourse, communication breakdown, and collaboration. To demonstrate its application, an exemplar usage of the C3 Appraisal involving a hearing child and a child with hearing loss engaged in a collaborative learning task is presented. Results: The C3 Appraisal allowed for the quality and successfulness of the collaborative learning task between the two children to be assessed and quantified across the six scales. Conclusions: These findings highlight the utility of the C3 Appraisal as a valuable tool for evaluating communication and collaboration in classroom environments. Background: Collaborative pharmacist practice agreements (CPPAs) advance the role of pharmacists by granting prescriptive authority without direct oversight from participating physicians. Objective: To assess the quantity of prescriptions authorized by pharmacists and frequency and types of interventions performed under a CPPA in an outpatient renal transplant clinic. Practice description: Clinical pharmacists in the outpatient renal transplant clinic began prescribing medications under a CPPA in March 2017. Practice innovation: Under the CPPA, pharmacists perform interventions to improve medication management. After identifying gaps in medication therapy, pharmacists tracked their interventions to improve patient care. Methods: An ambispective cohort study evaluated the number of prescriptions and interventions performed under a CPPA. Patients with a prescription generated by pharmacists between January 2019 through June 2019 were included. Pharmacists prospectively collected the number and types of interventions performed; the number of pharmacist-generated prescriptions was retrospectively collected. Interventions were categorized into three groups: medical record assessments, medication counseling, and resolution of barriers to medication continuation. Results: Pharmacists under a CPPA placed 5793 prescriptions and performed 3852 interventions for 1233 patients. The most common intervention categories were medical record assessments, medication counseling, and resolution of barriers to medication continuation. Conclusion: Pharmacists within a CPPA performed medical record assessments to identify untreated or under treated health conditions, eliminate duplicate therapy, and monitor narrow therapeutic drugs. Expanding pharmacists' prescriptive authority within the renal transplant clinic is a successful strategy to ensure patients are taking medications correctly and to avoid barriers to medication persistence. Leader affective presence, the tendency of leaders to consistently evoke feelings in team members, has gained prominence in the context of leadership and teamwork. However, prior research lacks a comprehensive theoretical framework, focuses on limited team processes, and relies mainly on cross sectional designs to study this construct. Building upon theories of the social functions of affect, this study examines the relationship between leaders' affective presence and team member behaviour, specifically focusing on team proactive problem prevention and examining whether this relationship is mediated by team psychological safety. Using a two‐wave panel model with 504 professionals in 134 teams, our findings revealed that positive leader affective presence, characterized by instilling enthusiasm, joy and inspiration among team members, was positively associated with perceptions of team psychological safety. In turn, team psychological safety was positively related to leaders' assessments of proactive problem prevention. Interestingly, negative leader affective presence, which triggers worry, tension and stress, was not related to team psychological safety but was positively associated with team proactive problem prevention. These results highlight the importance of leader affective presence in shaping emergent team states and team member behaviour. In this study, we used emerging community engagement frameworks to describe the structure and outcomes of a large-scale, community-engaged, research-to-practice initiative, RADx-UP. Qualitative methods were used to analyze survey and meeting data from 2022 for RADx-UP projects. Most projects had diverse partners, achieved moderate levels of community engagement, and experienced positive outcomes. Challenges related to engagement readiness and partnership functioning. While negative associations between behavioral inhibition/shyness and social competence are well established for children from Western cultures, the directions of these associations have been inconsistent for Chinese children, partly due to the ongoing social-cultural changes in China. Drawing from three samples of young Chinese children (born between 2009 and 2019), we aim at examining how inhibition/shyness predicts cooperative behaviors and prosocial behaviors throughout early childhood. In Study 1 (N = 700, children aged between 36 and 72 months), mother-reported inhibition/shyness was negatively associated with mother-reported cooperative and prosocial behaviors during the preschool years. In Study 2 (N = 251, at 6, 15, 25, and 37 months of children's ages), mother-reported inhibition/shyness in infancy was negatively associated with mother-reported cooperative behaviors but was not related to observed cooperative behaviors at the early preschool age. Infancy inhibition/shyness was negatively associated with mother-reported and observed prosocial behaviors. In Study 3 (N = 95, at 14, 25, 38, and 60 months of children's ages), the inhibition/shyness trait, assessed by both observation and maternal report, did not predict any indicators of cooperative behaviors. Early childhood inhibition/shyness, however, still predicted fewer observed and mother-reported prosocial behaviors. On balance, our research supports a negative association between early inhibition/shyness and later prosocial behaviors. The mixed findings concerning cooperative behaviors are interpreted in light of sociopolitical changes in China during the past two decades. Public Significance Statement: This research found that inhibited/shy young Chinese children consistently showed fewer prosocial behaviors relative to their uninhibited/nonshy peers. Inhibition/shyness did not predict cooperative behaviors in the oldest cohort of children but predicted fewer cooperative behaviors in the most recent cohort. These findings signify changes in cultural meanings of inhibition/shyness over historical time and indicate the necessity of using strategies to alleviate early inhibition/shyness for optimal social development of Chinese children. The Palliative Care Research Cooperative Group (PCRC) formed to lead, catalyze, and empower a community of scientists to build an evidence base to ensure high-quality care and optimal well-being for persons with serious illness and their caregivers. The PCRC grew to 630 members representing 220 distinct sites. The PCRC awarded 44 pilot grant awards (total investment $1.4 million), resulting in $15.8 million in extramural grant funding, supported monthly webinars, an annual mentorship selective, "Clinical Trials Intensives," research consultation, and grant review. Among the 169 Clinical Trials Intensive participants, 74 subsequently achieved extramural grant award funding with direct costs of over $139 million. The PCRC supported the submission of extramural research applications and fostered community through annual meetings, special interest groups, newsletters, and its website. Background: Partnership building and understanding of context that addresses global health concerns is essential in global health research. However, limited knowledge is available on the practical experiences of building such relationships. Objectives: The aim of this study was to provide a detailed description of the processes involved in establishing international collaboration, gain community involvement and cooperation with gatekeepers, and study populations of rural village areas in Western Kenya. Results: Because of the limited information available in the published literature about the extremely important practical considerations, our experiences on the logistical aspects of planning and implementing global health research projects are presented. Conclusion: Understanding the local collaborators and their communities and allocating adequate resources in time and money during the planning phase is paramount in ensuring the successful completion of global health research studies. Sharing resources is fundamental for human cooperation and survival. People tend to share resources more with individuals they feel close to compared to those who are more socially distant. This decline in generosity at increasing social distance is called social discounting and is influenced by both social traits and abilities, such as empathy, and non-social psychological factors, such as decision-making biases. People who receive a diagnosis of autism show differences in social interaction as well as displaying differences in non-social domains, such as more restricted and repetitive behaviours. We investigated social discounting in autism and found that autistic adults were more generous than neurotypical participants, which was driven by greater generosity to socially distant others. Crucially, we also investigated framing effects during prosocial decision-making. Autistic participants were less susceptible to whether decisions were framed as causing monetary gains, compared to preventing monetary losses, for the potential recipient. Our results support the view of 'enhanced rationality' in autism as participants' prosocial decisions were less influenced by potential biasing information, such as the closeness of the recipient or how choices were framed. Therefore, the differences seen in autism, as well as posing certain challenges, can also have prosocial consequences. Autistic people show differences in their social behaviour. But how autism affects decisions to share resources, an important part of cooperation, was previously unclear. In our study, participants made decisions about how to share money with different people, including people they felt close to, such as a friend, and people they felt less close to, such as a stranger. We found that compared to a group of non-autistic participants, autistic adults shared more money overall and this was driven by greater generosity to strangers. The results suggest that autistic adults were more generous because they made fair decisions (an equal split of the money) more consistently regardless of how close they felt to the person they were sharing with. By showing that autistic adults display greater generosity, our results could help to change public perceptions of autism and potentially improve opportunities for autistic people. Purpose The relative newness of Post-COVID Conditions (PCC) has revealed a void in assessment protocols and treatment guidelines for dental settings. Providing oral health care practitioners with an assessment and treatment protocol could facilitate the delivery of comprehensive oral health care. The purpose of this study was to test a protocol for assessing and treating patients with PCC in dental practice settings. Methods A qualitative exploratory research design was used to conduct the study. A PCC assessment and treatment protocol (ATP) was developed and was used by dental hygienists in clinical practice in California for a period of 6 weeks. Following the use of the PCC ATP practitioners were invited to participate in individual interviews. Online individual interviews were comprised of 20 dental hygienists recruited via purposive sampling. Participant anonymity was preserved using pseudonyms. A qualitative analysis software program was used to identify codes and themes. Investigator triangulation, member checks, and saturation were used to validate responses. Results Fifty-six participants completed the six-week PCC ATP and twenty participants took part in the interview session. Four themes were identified: awareness, accessibility, resources, and complications. Within the accessibility theme, subthemes of ease of use and guidance emerged. The complications theme yielded three subthemes: time, clinician hesitation, and patient lack of cooperation. Conclusion This study demonstrated that a PCC ATP created awareness of the varied symptoms of PCC and is a useful resource for clinical practitioners. Can purely behavioral aspects affect voluntary cooperativeness in isomorphic social dilemma games? We experimentally test isomorphic invariance by comparing frames whose identical payoffs are described as of the Prisoners' Dilemma or the linear Public Good. Participants play two consecutive rounds of the same frame, with no between-round feedback information, interacting with either the same or a different number of other subjects in each round. Hence, frames are compared between subjects whereas games with different numerosity are compared both within subjects and between subjects. Our analysis rejects isomorphic invariance and shows significantly lower average cooperativeness in the linear Public Good frame across all conditions. Moreover, we find a significantly negative effect of group size, especially in Prisoners' Dilemma. • Experimental test of behavioral validity of isomorphic invariance between PD and PG. • The PG frame reduces cooperativeness and expectations about others' cooperativeness. • Group size negatively influences cooperativeness, particularly in the context of PD. • Effects of task repetition suggest further analysis of incentives in social dilemmas. The globally disruptive impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on both healthcare systems and health profession education has created an opportunity for a reassessment of methods for delivering interprofessional practice education (IPE). A good candidate for consideration is Project ECHO (Extension for Community Healthcare Outcomes). Its unique combination of structural design in connecting specialist and community-based clinical sites, foundational education theories, and didactic and case-based learning methods present an innovative and promising new method of promoting both interprofessional and interorganizational collaboration. This paper first provides a description of Project ECHO, its major features, recent expansion during the pandemic, and IPE-related research history. Second, the educational concepts and theories underlying its use and their implications for interprofessional and interorganizational collaboration are reviewed. These include community of practice and single and double-loop learning. Third, the expression of these concepts in how key elements of ECHO are utilized – including the didactic presentation; the case study presentation, discussion, and tele-mentoring; and the power of community and tele-networking – will be explored. Finally, implications and applications for the expansion of ECHO into promoting competency-based education and innovative interprofessional and interorganizational collaboration will be presented. The effectiveness of healthcare depends on successful teamwork. Current understanding of teamwork in healthcare is limited due to the complexity of the context, variety of team structures, and unique demands of healthcare work. This qualitative study aimed to identify different types of healthcare teams based on their structure, membership, and function. The study used an ethnographic approach to observe five teams in an English hospital. Data were analyzed using a combined inductive-deductive approach based on the Temporal Observational Analysis of Teamwork framework. A typology was developed, consisting of five team types: structural, hybrid, satellite, responsive, and coordinating. Teams were challenged to varying degrees with staffing, membership instability, equipment shortages, and other elements of the healthcare environment. Teams varied in their ability to respond to these challenges depending on their characteristics, such as their teamworking style, location, and membership. The typology developed in this study can help healthcare organizations to better understand and design effective teams for different healthcare contexts. It can also guide future research on healthcare teams and provide a framework for comparing teams across settings. The effectiveness of work performed through interprofessional practice is contingent on the nature and extent of communication between professionals. To date, there is little research exploring how the patterns of communication may impact interprofessional work. This study focused on communication during interprofessional meetings to better understand the interprofessional work performed through these encounters. Specifically, it examined how interactional discourse, that is, the patterns of language, influenced work performed during interprofessional meetings. A series of four interprofessional meetings in a rehabilitation unit were observed. Twenty-one participants were observed, including medical, nursing, allied health clinicians, and health professions students. Follow-up stimulated-recall interviews were conducted with five meeting participants. The data collection consisted of video and audio recordings and detailed field notes. Data were analyzed using a combination of genre analysis, a form of discourse analysis, and activity system analysis, drawing on Cultural Historical Activity Theory. This facilitated an in-depth examination of the structure of discourse and its influence on meeting outcomes. The meeting structure was defined and predictable. Two distinct forms of discourse were identified and labeled scripted and unscripted. Scripted discourse was prompted by standardized documents and facilitated the completion of organizational work. In contrast, unscripted discourse was spontaneous dialogue used to co-construct knowledge and contributed to collaboration. There was constant shifting between scripted and unscripted discourse throughout meetings which was orchestrated by experienced clinicians. Rather than fragmenting the discussion, this shifting enabled shared decision making. This research provides further insights into the interprofessional work performed during interprofessional meetings. The scripted discourse was highly influenced by artifacts (communication tools) in meetings, and these were used to ensure organizational imperatives were met. The objective of this study was to enhance understanding of team functioning in a neurorehabilitation team by identifying the factors that impede and facilitate effective interprofessional team collaboration. We focused on team identification, psychological safety, and team learning, and conducted the research at a neurorehabilitation center treating young patients with severe acquired brain injury in the Netherlands. A mixed-methods approach was employed, integrating quantitative data from questionnaires (N = 40) with qualitative insights from a focus group (n = 6) and in-depth interviews (n = 5) to provide a comprehensive perspective on team dynamics. Findings revealed strong team identification among participants, denoting a shared sense of belonging and commitment. However, limited psychological safety was observed, which negatively affected constructive conflict and team learning. Qualitative analysis further identified deficiencies in shared mental models, especially in shared decision-making and integrated care. These results highlight the crucial role of psychological safety in team learning and the development of shared mental models in neurorehabilitation settings. Although specific to neurorehabilitation, the insights gained may be applicable to enhancing team collaboration in various healthcare environments. Interprofessional practice can look quite different depending on a number of dynamics. Interprofessional education interventions may or may not orient toward this range of practice possibilities. This literature review explores: (1) how interprofessional education interventions relate to different kinds of interprofessional practice and (2) the range of interprofessional practices assumed by interprofessional education interventions. Four databases were searched for articles published between 2011–2021 describing pre-licensure level interprofessional education interventions, resulting in a dataset of 110 articles. Our analysis involved (1) descriptive summaries of the articles, and (2) content analysis of the rationale and description of the intervention. Of the articles, 93% (102/110) of interprofessional education interventions were designed and/or evaluated using the concept of interprofessional education competencies. "Teamwork" was the most relied upon competency. Most articles were not explicit about the different kinds of interprofessional practices that these competencies might be oriented toward. Our study substantiates earlier claims that interprofessional education literature tends to focus on competencies and orient toward undifferentiated understandings of "teamwork." This analysis is particularly important as interprofessional teams are engaging in increasingly complex, fluid, and distributed forms of interprofessional practice that may not be captured in an undifferentiated approach to "teamwork." Due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the economy's general situation, many households are now financially vulnerable. It is like a vicious cycle: once a household is caught, it will remain in the trap until and unless it competently manages its finances. These problems experienced by households have drawn attention to social capital. Self-help groups (SHGs) originated in India to pull out low-income households from poverty and are now recognized as social capital, which can be defined as the action of a group cooperating to enhance all its members' benefits. This article aims to explain how SHGs have contributed to reducing various factors or determinants of household financial vulnerability through a review of several other publications, theses, newspaper articles, and reports. It was discovered that SHGs now provide much more benefits than just alleviating poverty. They have helped to reduce bad loans or non-performing assets, reduced the dependence on informal sources of finance, made households more resilient toward crises such as COVID-19, and enabled households to save money and manage their finances accurately. Successful cooperation is tightly linked to individuals' beliefs about their interaction partners, the decision setting, and existing norms, perceptions, and values. This article reviews and integrates findings from judgment and decision-making, social and cognitive psychology, political science, and economics, developing a systematic overview of the mechanisms underlying motivated cognition in cooperation. We elaborate on how theories and concepts related to motivated cognition developed in various disciplines define the concept and describe its functionality. We explain why beliefs play such an essential role in cooperation, how they can be distorted, and how this fosters or harms cooperation. We also highlight how individual differences and situational factors change the propensity to engage in motivated cognition. In the form of a construct map, we provide a visualization of the theoretical and empirical knowledge structure regarding the role of motivated cognition, including its many interdependencies, feedback loops, and moderating influences. Humans operate in groups that are oftentimes nested in multilayered collectives such as work units within departments and companies, neighborhoods within cities, and regions within nation states. With psychological science mostly focusing on proximate reasons for individuals to join existing groups and how existing groups function, we still poorly understand why groups form ex nihilo, how groups evolve into complex multilayered social structures, and what explains fission–fusion dynamics. Here we address group formation and the evolution of social organization at both the proximate and ultimate level of analysis. Building on models of fitness interdependence and cooperation, we propose that socioecologies can create positive interdependencies among strangers and pave the way for the formation of stable coalitions and groups through reciprocity and reputation-based partner selection. Such groups are marked by in-group bounded, parochial cooperation together with an array of social institutions for managing the commons, allowing groups to scale in size and complexity while avoiding the breakdown of cooperation. Our analysis reveals how distinct group cultures can endogenously emerge from reciprocal cooperation, shows that social identification and group commitment are likely consequences rather than causes of group cooperation, and explains when intergroup relations gravitate toward peaceful coexistence, integration, or conflict. INTRODUCTION: Pennsylvania's Student Assistance Program (SAP) began in the mid‐1980s to address student barriers to academic success. SAP teams, groups of trained school and community professionals, review referrals, and connect students to services. State leadership conducts an annual SAP team survey, but capacity to evaluate data and affect change is limited. In 2020, leadership partnered with [institution name] to collaboratively review the survey data. METHODS: Frequencies and percentages were calculated. Open responses were coded. Logistic regression models evaluated the association between SAP team size, team meeting frequency, and team maintenance. RESULTS: The 2019 to 2020 survey had 1003 respondents. Median number of SAP team members was 8 (range 1‐21). The majority (54%) indicated their SAP team met once per week/cycle for 30 to 90+ minutes. Larger teams met more often. Annual team maintenance occurred for 38% of teams, and was more common for larger teams. SAP team members identified mental health (68%), trauma (44%), and parent engagement (36%) as top training needs. CONCLUSIONS: An academic partnership successfully provided the capacity to review SAP survey responses, and informed evidenced‐based discussion of best practice guidelines and realignment of staff professional development opportunities. Perceived beauty is one of the strongest predictors of perceived cooperativeness, causing the "beauty bias". Through a large three-stage incentivized behavioral and rating experiment (N=357), we study (1) the beauty bias in incentivized predictions of cooperativeness and (2) the ex-post relevance of beauty ratings for predicting cooperativeness in an incentivized game. We additionally (3) investigate if one's beauty influences the beauty bias in predictions of cooperativeness of others. Our findings demonstrate the robustness of the beauty bias and its irrelevance for making accurate predictions. We further observe that individuals are affected by the beauty bias irrespective of their beauty. Deciding when to terminate treatment can be complex. We examined clients (N = 121, female 66.9%, White 84.7%) that possessed an anticipated termination date, while also allowing for shared decision making to graduate treatment early or to extend treatment. Among early graduates (n = 29), we found decreases in stress (p =.001, d = 0.65), anxiety (p <.001, d = 0.57), and difficulties in emotional regulation (p =.004, d = 0.49) and increases in Snyder's hope (p <.001, d = 0.51) and mindfulness (p =.03, d = 0.34) but not in integrative hope or depression. Among extended graduates (n = 42), we found decreases in difficulties in emotional regulation (p <.02, d = 0.39), but insignificant findings regarding depression, anxiety, stress, Snyder's hope, integrative hope, or dispositional mindfulness between their anticipated termination date and their actual termination date. At last survey, stress was the only significant predictor of graduation status (p =.05) indicating that for every 1-point decrease in stress, the odds for graduation increased by a factor of 1.14 (CI [1.01, 1.26]). Overall, we found support for early graduation but less support for extending termination beyond an anticipated discharge date. This study argues for an evidence-based solution to understanding collaborative termination, one that is informed by clinical expertise, patient preferences, and research. Public Significance Statement: This article provides practical information regarding evidence-based practices for team leaders, clinicians, and administrators about the mental health of clients that graduated before a set termination date and clients whose treatment extended beyond a set termination date. The article describes the design and implementation considerations of experiential interprofessional share days (IPSD) for beginner clinical pharmacists. Considerations include rationale, goals, incentives, timing of IPSD in rotation experience, duration of share day, logistics, assessment and evaluation of experience. Strategies to increase engagement of allied healthcare professionals (AHP) in IPSD include developing goals and objectives, open discussion, scheduling and seeking feedback.

Although many researchers addressed the topics, no consistent data are currently available regarding the relationship between perfectionism and personality traits in anorexia nervosa (AN). The present study aimed to assess differences between high‐ and low‐perfectionism groups of patients with AN and to identify which variables show the strongest association with perfectionism. A group of inpatients with AN (n = 193) was recruited and completed a battery of self‐report questionnaires regarding eating‐related and general psychopathology, perfectionism, and personality. On the basis of perfectionism scores, patients were divided into high‐ and low‐perfectionism groups. High‐perfectionist patients displayed higher eating‐related and general psychopathology; higher depressive, cyclothymic, irritable and anxious temperament, and lower self‐directedness, cooperativeness and self‐esteem. Perfectionism was associated with the drive for thinness, cooperativeness, self‐esteem and anxious temperament. On the basis of the two personality traits most strongly correlated with perfectionism (i.e., cooperativeness and anxious temperament), patients could be correctly assigned to the high‐ or low‐perfectionism group by an algorithm. The study suggests that perfectionism in AN is related to eating psychopathology, especially of restrictive type, and personality features such as cooperativeness and anxious temperament. Much of the research on behavioural preferences as predictors of compliance with regulations aimed at reducing the transmission of COVID-19 has focused on developed countries, with very little consideration of African countries. We conduct an online survey (n = 1503) considering beliefs, and individual and social preferences as predictors of compliance with prophylactic measures and lockdown regulations in South Africa. We use incentivized experimental measures of individual (risk and time) preferences and social preferences (cooperativeness and altruism). We also consider survey measures of risk tolerance, patience and trust. We find that beliefs about others' behaviour are highly predictive of reported behaviour. We also find that greater patience and cooperativeness are predictive of high compliance with prophylactic measures and lockdown regulations. Encouragingly, respondents report higher compliance at higher lockdown levels, suggesting responsiveness of behaviour to the level of risk of infection. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Despite the growing popularity of esports, it has yet to gain mainstream acceptance as a legitimate pathway for personal success. Motivated by examining the positive side of esports play, this study aims to identify a systemic framework describing the benefits of playing esports and the process through which positive personal development can be fostered. Specifically, we first reviewed relevant literature on online games, traditional sports, and esports play motivations. We then employed the positive youth development (PYD) framework as the theoretical lens to guide our analysis. After receiving informed consent from 19 esports players, we used a semi-structured interview technique to understand the key benefits obtained from play. We used qualitative content analysis technique to generate 12 key categories important in esports play, and the Delphi method to establish group consensus about relations between each category pair. We then adopted a structured approach involving interpretive structural modelling (ISM) technique to present a framework describing pathways for esports players' positive development. In the positive development framework, Commitment, Self-Esteem, Communication, Cooperation, Emotional Self-initiative, and Initiative were found to be the given conditions, while Personal Growth was the linkage variable leading to fulfilment of five higher-end personal values. Collaborations may sometimes increase the likelihood of engaging in dishonest behaviour. As yet, it remains unknown what factors contribute to this phenomenon. Here, we investigate whether it matters with whom people are collaborating for the extent to which they are dishonest. We aim to (I) replicate dishonest collaboration effects and (II) examine whether collaborating with an ingroup member (vs. outgroup member) amplifies dishonesty. In three pre‐registered studies (N = 782), we used the sequential dyadic die‐rolling paradigm in both student (Study 1: Lab context) and community samples (Studies 2–3: Field context). In this paradigm, two players form a dyad (either with an ingroup or an outgroup member) and earn winnings depending on both their own and the other's dice roll. Crucially, dice rolls are private, and players can inflate their winnings by misreporting their dice roll. Collectively, our studies replicate the dishonest collaboration effect, showing the robustness of collaborative dishonesty over samples and contexts. However, our studies suggest that dishonesty is similar when collaborating with an ingroup versus an outgroup member. Norms permeate human life. Most of people's activities can be characterized by rules about what is appropriate, allowed, required, or forbidden—rules that are crucial in making people hyper-cooperative animals. In this article, I examine the current cognitive-evolutionary account of "norm psychology" and propose an alternative that is better supported by evidence and better placed to promote interdisciplinary dialogue. The incumbent theory focuses on rules and claims that humans genetically inherit cognitive and motivational mechanisms specialized for processing these rules. The cultural-evolutionary alternative defines normativity in relation to behavior—compliance, enforcement, and commentary—and suggests that it depends on implicit and explicit processes. The implicit processes are genetically inherited and domain-general; rather than being specialized for normativity, they do many jobs in many species. The explicit processes are culturally inherited and domain-specific; they are constructed from mentalizing and reasoning by social interaction in childhood. The cultural-evolutionary, or "cognitive gadget," perspective suggests that people alive today—parents, educators, elders, politicians, lawyers—have more responsibility for sustaining normativity than the nativist view implies. Moral psychology was shaped around three categories of agents and patients: humans, other animals, and supernatural beings. Rapid progress in artificial intelligence has introduced a fourth category for our moral psychology to deal with: intelligent machines. Machines can perform as moral agents, making decisions that affect the outcomes of human patients or solving moral dilemmas without human supervision. Machines can be perceived as moral patients, whose outcomes can be affected by human decisions, with important consequences for human–machine cooperation. Machines can be moral proxies that human agents and patients send as their delegates to moral interactions or use as a disguise in these interactions. Here we review the experimental literature on machines as moral agents, moral patients, and moral proxies, with a focus on recent findings and the open questions that they suggest. Effective peer feedback is critical for the self-regulation of nursing practice and safe, high-quality care, yet peer feedback conversations can be challenging and anxiety provoking. As current literature revealed no consistent approach, taskforce members designed and implemented an innovative and standardized peer feedback program using brain science to support nurses' skills in speaking up. The new program resulted in an increase in nurses' self-reported willingness to provide peer feedback, and improvements in safety culture and nurse-sensitive quality outcomes. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Secondary analysis of digital psychological data (DPD) is an increasingly popular method for behavioral health research. Under current practices, secondary research does not require human subjects research review so long as data are de-identified. We argue that this standard approach to the ethics of secondary research (i.e., de-identification) does not address a range of ethical risks and that greater emphasis should be placed on the ethical principle of justice. We outline the inadequacy of an individually focused research ethic for DPD and describe unaddressed "social risks" generated by secondary research of DPD. These risks exist in the "circumstances of justice": that is, a circumstance where individuals must cooperate to create a public good (e.g., research knowledge), and where it is impractical to individually exempt individuals. This requires researchers to emphasize the just allocation of benefits and burdens against a background of social cooperation. We explore six considerations for researchers who wish to conduct research with DPD without explicit consent: (a) create socially valuable knowledge, (b) fairly share the benefits and burdens of research, (c) be transparent about data use, (d) create mechanisms for withdrawal of data, (e) ensure that stakeholders can provide input into the design and implementation of the research, and (f) responsibly report results. Background and Objectives: With the increasing attention to bruxism, the research on bruxism is increasing rapidly. However, there is still a lack of systematic bibliometric analysis in the field of bruxism in adults. This study aimed to comprehensively explore and visualize the global trends and research hotspots in the field of bruxism in adults during 1991–2021. Methods: The study searched the literature published during 1991–2021 in the Web of Science Core Collection database without language restrictions. VOSviewer, CiteSpace and Microsoft Excel were applied to analyse the authors, institutions, journals, countries, cited references, keywords and other information of the included publications, and construct visualized cooperation networks. Results: A total of 878 articles were finally included. The top two most productive authors in the past 30 years were Lobbezoo F and Manfredini D. ACTA‐Amsterdam, Univ Sao Paulo, Univ Helsinki, Univ Padua, Univ Montreal, et al. were prominent institutions in this field. Journal of Oral Rehabilitation made outstanding contributions in this field. The United States produced the most documents in this field, followed by Brazil. Both countries and authors cooperated closely around the world. The two most cited articles focused on the definition, assessment and classification of bruxism. In recent years, diagnostic criteria and stress have begun to receive a lot of attention. Conclusion: From 1991 to 2021, the attention to bruxism in adults continued to increase. Introduction: There is a requirement for health and care systems and services to work on an equitable basis with people who use and provide integrated care. In response, co-production has become essential in the design and transformation of services. Globally, an array of approaches have been implemented to achieve this. This unique review explores multi-context and multi-method examples of co-production in integrated care using an exceptional combination of methods. Aim: To review and synthesise evidence that examines how co-production with service users, unpaid carers and members of staff can affect the design and transformation of integrated care services. Methods: Systematic review using meta-ethnography with input from a patient and public involvement (PPI) co-production advisory group. Meta-ethnography can generate theories by interpreting patterns between studies set in different contexts. Nine academic and four grey literature databases were searched for publications between 2012-2022. Data were extracted, analysed, translated and interpreted using the seven phases of meta-ethnography and PPI. Findings: A total of 2,097 studies were identified. 10 met the inclusion criteria. Studies demonstrated a variety of integrated care provisions for diverse populations. Coproduction was most successful through person-centred design, innovative planning, and collaboration. Key impacts on service transformation were structural changes, accessibility, and acceptability of service delivery. The methods applied organically drew out new interpretations, namely a novel cyclic framework for application within integrated care. Conclusion: Effective co-production requires a process with a well-defined focus. Implementing co-delivery, with peer support, facilitates service user involvement to be embedded at a higher level on the 'ladder of co-production'. An additional step on the ladder is proposed; a cyclic co-delivery framework. The purpose of the article is to analyse the psychological and pedagogical support technologies for children with anxiety manifestations in the educational process. Research methods: theoretical (analysis, synthesis, generalisation of scientific literature on the studied issue); empirical (conversation, identification and development), comparison, test: methods for determining the anxiety level as personal property and as a state; assessment of anxiety manifestations; diagnostics of social intelligence; assessments of social and communicative competence to identify the ability to cooperate, conduct discussions, and perceive criticism; mathematical-statistical and interpretive (analysis, synthesis, systematisation of the data obtained for their visual display). Based on the selected programme of empirical research and selected empirical indicators, the features of the influence that anxiety has on children's social intelligence development were studied as a percentage. As a result, different children have different depths and intensities of emotions and these characteristics depend on physiological, psychological, and social factors. People's cooperativeness depends on many factors, such as their motives, cognition, experiences, and the situation they are in. To date, it is unclear how these factors interact and shape the decision to cooperate. We present a computational account of cooperation that not only provides insights for the design of effective incentive structures but also redefines neglected social-cognitive characteristics associated with attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). Leveraging game theory, we demonstrate that the source and magnitude of conflict between different motives affected the speed and frequency of cooperation. Integrating eye-tracking to measure motivation-based information processing during decision-making shows that participants' visual fixations on the gains of cooperation rather than its costs and risks predicted their cooperativeness on a trial-by-trial basis. Using Bayesian hierarchical modeling, we find that a situation's prosociality and participants' past experience each bias the decision-making process distinctively. ADHD characteristics explain individual differences in responsiveness across contexts, highlighting the clinical importance of experimentally studying reactivity in social interactions. We demonstrate how the use of eye-tracking and computational modeling can be used to experimentally investigate social-cognitive characteristics in clinical populations. South Africa shared with the world the warning of a new strain of SARS-CoV2, Omicron, in November 2021. As a result, many high-income countries (HICs) instituted complete travel bans on persons leaving South Africa and other neighbouring countries. These bans were unnecessary from a scientific standpoint, and they ran counter to the International Health Regulations. In short, South Africa was penalized for sharing data. Data sharing during pandemics is commonly justified by appeals to solidarity. In this paper, we argue that solidarity is, at best, an aspirational ideal to work toward but that it cannot ground an obligation to share data. Instead, low-and-middle income countries (LIMCs) should be guided by the principle of reciprocity, which states that we ought to return good for good received. Reciprocity is necessarily a conditional principle. LMICs, we argue, should only share data during future pandemics on the condition that HICs provide enforceable assurances that the benefits of data sharing will be equitably distributed and that LMICs won't be penalized for sharing information. Norms, typically enforced via sanctions, are key to resolving collective-action problems. But it is often impossible to know what each individual member is contributing to group efforts and enforce cooperation accordingly. Especially as group size increases, people commonly have access to the behaviors of—and can sanction—only those to whom they are tied in a broader network. Here we integrate two streams of research: one conceptualizing ties in networked collective-action groups as access to information about what others are doing and a second where ties represent information plus opportunities to enforce cooperation via punishment. While both have pointed to the cooperation benefits of more ties in the network, we argue that these benefits will depend on group size and whether ties provide access to information about what others are doing or whether they also entail opportunities for norm enforcement. Our experiment demonstrates that densely tied information networks facilitate cooperation but only when the group size is small. When people can also enforce their ties' cooperation, however, densely tied networks particularly benefit larger groups. The phenomenon 'help anyone, if helped by some' is known as generalized reciprocity. Most research has considered generalized reciprocity from the perspective of social exchange theory, focusing on an obligated to process. In this study, we apply the interaction ritual chain (IRC) theory to theorize that individuals can pay it forward based on their previous emotional experiences. Specifically, we developed and examined a theoretical model to address why and when receiving social support could promote employees' helping others. In Study 1, a between‐person three‐wave time‐lagged study of 627 employees, we found that emotional energy (EE) mediated the relationship between receiving social support at work and recipients' subsequent helping behaviours. In Study 2, a 10‐day experience sampling study among 144 employees, we replicated the indirect effect of receiving social support on helping behaviour via EE at the within‐person level. We also identified, consistent with IRC theory, a cross‐level moderating effect of workplace status that differed depending on whom individuals received support from. Specifically, received supervisor support led to more EE for employees with higher workplace status than for those lower in status. With respect to received coworker support, the effect of support on EE was stronger for those lower in status than for those higher in status. Overall, our results shed light on the emotional experiences involved in workplace social interactions and suggested energized to as an alternative mechanism for interpreting generalized reciprocity beyond the obligated to process. Addressing inequality is a critical challenge for society as a whole and requires sustained efforts to promote fairness and opportunity for all. Filling in the resource gap across social classes is essential in reducing inequality. Previous studies have revealed that ingroup favouritism hinders the rich from cooperating with the poor and expands the wealth gap. Nevertheless, how to find ways of narrowing the gap between the rich and the poor remains an open question. Inducing rich–poor cooperation could be effective in eliciting resource flow across classes. In this study, two experiments using a modified Prisoner's Dilemma game were conducted in Japan (N = 213) and China (N = 150) to examine whether highlighting partners' cooperativeness under permeable group boundaries induces rich–poor cooperation. All participants were allocated to the rich group and participated in the game with programmed rich‐ or poor‐group partner bots, whose cooperation rates were manipulated. Despite the initial resource disparities between participants and the partner bots, participants were more likely to select and cooperate with cooperative poor‐group partners than with non‐cooperative rich‐group partners. Generalized trust played an important role in the enhancement of rich–poor cooperation. The findings shed light on the possibility of reducing inequality and promoting social mobility in society. Players' identity and their reputation are known to influence cooperation in economic games, but little is known about how they interact. Our study aimed to understand how presenting pre-programmed co-players' identities (face photos; names) along with their previous cooperation history (reputation) could influence participants' cooperative decisions in a public goods game. Participants (N = 759) were allocated to one of six experimental groups: (i) control (no information); (ii) only reputation (neutral, free-rider, or cooperative); (iii) only face; (iv) face with reputation; (v) only name; (vi) name with reputation. In the reputation group, cooperation significantly decreased when free-riders were playing and significantly increased when they were cooperators. Person's identity affected cooperativeness only when combined with reputation: face photo mitigated the negative effect of the free-rider reputation, while name identity mitigated any significant effect expected for reputation. The positive deviance approach seeks to identify and learn from those that perform exceptionally well. Positive deviance as an approach to quality improvement is gaining traction in general practice. This study aimed to explore and compare stakeholders' perceptions of the factors that support the delivery of exceptional care in general practice and to refine a previously developed theoretical framework of factors associated with positively deviant care in general practice: the Identifying and Disseminating the Exceptional to Achieve Learning (IDEAL) framework. Semi-structured interviews were conducted with 33 purposively sampled patients, general practitioners, practice nurses, and practice managers in Irish general practice. Subsequently, a directed content analysis approach was employed to deductively analyse interview data using the IDEAL framework, and newly emerging factors were inductively analysed and abstracted into the framework. Several distinct strategies (e.g. patient activation and team collaboration), structures (e.g. facilities and staffing), and contextual factors (e.g. communication and rapport, and culture) were found to support the delivery of exceptional care, and differences in perceptions, values, and expectations emerged between patients and practice staff. Interview data largely supported the pre-determined factors posited by the IDEAL framework, and new factors were abstracted into the framework (e.g. facilities and infrastructure). Stakeholder engagement regarding the factors supporting exceptional care in general practice supported and extended the IDEAL framework, contributing to a more comprehensive understanding of how exceptional care is delivered in general practice. The empirical study of virtue is plagued by imprecise definitions and assessment. Here we propose a three-stage, data-driven ('bottom-up') method to differentiate lay perceptions of virtues. Employing two virtues – generosity (as cooperation) and fairness (as impartiality) – as a case study, we present findings utilizing data from three studies (total N = 2,667). First, natural language processing of free-response data indicated that participants used different 'topics' (i.e. clusters of words) to describe behaviours representing generosity (topics: 'charity' and 'kindness') and fairness ('equality'). Second, participants in a survey experiment rated behaviours expressing generosity and fairness differently across 6 out of 9 underlying features measured. Third, participants perceive that actors in vignette-based experiments engaging in behaviours expressing generosity versus fairness were motivated differently on 5 out of 6 motivations measured. Our findings support the distinction of the virtues of generosity (as cooperation) and fairness (as impartiality) and indicate the utility of our bottom-up method for assessing and distinguishing virtues. Ageing is associated with decreasing psychomotor skills and an increasing dependency upon others. Family bonds in modern societies are often weakened or broken, and thus the traditional primary source of support for the elderly has largely ceased to exist. Progressive multimorbidity means that elderly patients often have to adhere to multiple overlapping drug regimens, involving long-term or even indefinite medication protocols. Such chronic polypharmacy is likely to adversely affect patients’ adherence. We performed a literature review with the aim of identifying, first, the problems associated with compliance with medical directions among people 60 years of age and older and, second, the solutions to this problem now available due to modern technological advances. The gold standard of therapy in elderly patients is personally observed or directed therapy, but in practice, this is often unavailable. The phenomenon of the ageing of society challenges the healthcare system with an increasing number of community-dwelling elderly people who are increasingly dependent upon others, which negatively impacts their level of adherence to therapy. Considering the deepening scarcity of medical personnel and the limited availability of caregivers, only broad application of solutions based on modern technologies will be able to significantly improve patients’ compliance, and thus the effectiveness of their treatment. Many societies experienced pushback against governmental COVID‐19 measures. When the Norwegian government made it a punishable offence to spend the night at privately owned cabins in the first phase of the pandemic, this resulted in discussions and pushback. Basing our research on in‐depth interviews at three different time points during the pandemic, we ask how Norwegian participants discursively explain why the cabin ban was the first measure that evoked pushback in Norway. We conducted a Foucauldian discourse analysis (FDA), exploring three overarching explanations provided by the interview participants. In the first explanation, the pushback was presented as a result of the cultural importance of the cabin. Here, participants partly legitimised the pushback when constructing it as a predictable reaction in this cultural context. In the second explanation, participants constructed the pushback as an expression of 'cabin people' in particular and Norwegians in general being 'too privileged' to acknowledge the measure's necessity. Here, the pushback was constructed as an illegitimate reaction. In the third explanation, participants explained the pushback as a result of people seeing the measure as meaningless. This interpretation constructs pushback as a legitimate response to an illogical measure. These different constructions illustrate the complexity of compliance with COVID measures, where people negotiated individual freedom against solidarity, and compliance against critical thinking. The article contributes to the understanding of people's negotiations of resistance and pushback against restrictive measures. We argue that social psychological theory and research need to acknowledge the temporal, contextual and ideological specificities in understanding compliance and non‐compliance. This article shares historical research relating to the intersection of social group work, settlement houses, and summer camps. It discusses how settlement houses in the early twentieth century worked to nurture social group work approaches in their clubs and summer camps. By developing an understanding of group process, examining the impact of the physical environment, implementing collaborative models, and operationalizing democratic living; these pioneer social workers created and applied concepts for working with small groups that continue to be relevant today. Graduate schools of social work gradually accepted social group work as a method of interpersonal practice and engaged faculty who had honed this approach in settlement houses, community centers, and summer camps. Social science research was soon incorporated into the method. Spotlighting multiple examples, the article seeks to show how group work's distant past can serve as a highly pertinent inspiration for present and future social workers and students. Citizens' trust in government is crucial in managing crises that require coordination as it is linked to cooperative behaviour and sociability. Willingness to adopt appropriate health measures plays a decisive role in the effective containment of COVID-19 and other pandemics. Preventive health measures such as physical distancing, avoiding crowded places, wearing masks, and frequent hand washing reduce the spread of the virus. In this study, we examined how trust in government, risk perception, and knowledge were separately and jointly related to compliance with preventive health measures. We focused on young adults who are less prone to the disease than older demographics, who therefore have fewer incentives to protect themselves, and are accordingly pertinent for the study of public health and understandings of risk. Using recent data from a survey completed by 2,455 young people in Luxembourg, we employed structural equation modelling to assess our hypotheses. We found that trust in government, risk perceptions, and COVID-19 knowledge are important predictors of young people's adherence to health measures and prosocial protection. Additionally, these factors are interrelated in several complex and non-linear ways. Our findings provide insights into young people's specific health behaviours, highlighting the roles of risk perception and trust in government in mitigating the spread of COVID-19 and other infectious diseases. Alibi believability can be affected by characteristics of the alibi corroborator, including the relationship between the defendant and corroborator, which has been studied extensively by researchers. The corroborator's certainty that they were together at the time of the crime may also influence alibi believability, but only a few studies have examined this. Another factor that may affect believability is the corroborator's cooperativeness with the police, which is yet to be studied in the alibi context. Online U.S. participants recruited from CloudResearch (N = 280) acted as mock jurors and evaluated a mock arson case where the defendant used an alibi defence. The alibi corroborator's relationship to the defendant (brother/neighbour), the certainty that they were together at the time (65%/100%) and cooperativeness with police (cooperative/uncooperative) were manipulated between participants. The participants were evenly split when it came to verdict (p >.05) but were more likely to vote guilty when the corroborator was a brother rather than a neighbour (p <.01) and when the brother was uncooperative versus cooperative (p <.05). As expected, alibis were more believable when they were corroborated by a neighbour rather than a brother and when the corroborator was 100% certain that they were together versus 65% certain (ps <.01). Alibis were also more believable when the corroborator cooperated than when he was uncooperative (p <.01). Cooperative (vs. uncooperative) corroborators led to more positive defendant and corroborator views on all six character trait measures (ps <.01). Implications and future directions are discussed. Introduction: A wide range of factors influence coordination and continuity of care. The aim of this study was to explore how management continuity of cardiovascularrelated ambulatory care is influenced by the following network characteristics: presence of a case coordinator, network reciprocity, network composition and team climate. Methods: This cross-sectional observational study included three written surveys. The primary outcome management continuity of cardiovascular care was measured with the team/cross-boundary scale in the Nijmegen Continuity Questionnaire. The final analysis comprised a multivariate linear multilevel model with the predictors: presence of a case coordinator, network reciprocity, network composition and team climate. Results: Eighteen general practices with 83 health workers and 340 patients participated. The linear multilevel regression analysis showed a positive influence of team climate on cross-boundary continuity of care (b-coefficient 0.44, 95% confidence interval 0.09-0.78, p = 0.02). No statistically significant influence was measured for the other predictors. Discussion: To improve integrated care, therefore, emphasis should also be placed on promoting the team climate within individual practices. Regarding network characteristics, further research is needed, especially in larger practices. Conclusion: This study showed that team climate had an independent, relevant and statistically significant association with cross-boundary continuity of cardiovascular ambulatory care.
