Understanding women's work along the paid-underpaid-unpaid continuum presents a more holistic conceptualisation of women's work, recognising work burdens across the spheres of production and reproduction. This paper takes recourse to unit-level data from India Time-Use Survey (2019) to demonstrate the women's work continuum, highlighting the uneven burden of unpaid household work on women across varied employment categories and economic activities. Controlling for other confounders, women from marginalised castes and lower income groups are more likely to undertake unpaid activities. Further, marital status and location (rural-urban) are also crucial factors in determining the probability of women undertaking unpaid work and time spent on different activities. Therefore, it is imperative to recognise and understand women's work through the lens of the continuum and intersectionality. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

FATTY acid esters , *ETHANOL , *FREE fatty acids , *PETROLEUM , *TEMPERATURE effect - Abstract
In this study, the production of fatty acid ethyl esters (FAEE) from macauba pulp oil and pressurized ethanol was investigated. The experiments were conducted without the addition of catalyst, at 20 MPa, to determine the effect of temperature (200 to 300 °C) and the oil to ethanol mass ratio (1:1 and 1:2) on the FAEE content and different residence times (10 to 45 min). The effect of the addition of n-hexane to the oil (20 wt%) as a co-solvent was also evaluated. The use of high temperatures (275 and 300 °C) resulted in high FAEE content (~90%). Increasing the amount of ethanol in the reaction medium contributed to the formation of esters only at operating temperatures of 200 to 250 °C. It was also observed that with the addition of co-solvent (in the oil) it was possible to obtain high amounts of FAEE in a shorter reaction time. In addition, a low content of unreacted compounds (~8.0%) and the conversion of ~90 and 99% of the free fatty acids and triglycerides were observed, respectively. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

PRODUCTION methods , *SCIENTIFIC community - Abstract
This systematic review shows the most important characteristics of the methods used for the production of polyhydrox yalkanoates (PHAs). Three databases were consulted: Science Direct, Scopus, and Google Scholar. A total of 66 publications were obtained. Cupriavidus necator was found to be the microorganism that generates more interest in the scientific community and the most tested one in different substrates, however, the highest productivity was reported in A zohydromonas lata, a low reported microorganism. The most common cultivation system was the fed-batch, easily used at the industrial level, although the continuous system could save time and potentially increase productivity. However, the type of substrate, the polymer to be produced and the metabolic characteristics and requirements of each microorganism, imply technical limitations, which are evidenced in this review in order to provide a better understanding about its advantages and disadvantages. - Abstract

- Abstract
Theoretical constructs latent in thoroughbass treatises of the 18th century can serve students of thoroughbass today. In the following work, I draw from Johann David Heinichen’s Der General-Bass in der Composition (1728), David Kellner’s Treulicher Unterricht im General-Baß (2nd edition, 1737), Johann Mattheson’s Der vollkommene Capellmeister (1739), Friedrich Wilhelm Marpurg’s Handbuch bey dem Generalbasse und der Composition, Carl Philipp Emanuel Bach’s Versuch über die wahre Art das Clavier zu spielen (part 2, 1762), and recent scholarship in the areas of Partimento theory, Musica Poetica, and early music theory in general, to demonstrate how the many thoroughbass figures can all be contextualized in an historically informed theoretical framework. In the first two chapters, (1) thoroughbass figures are analyzed as having an internal hierarchy of primary and auxiliary intervals, allowing chords to be understood both vertically and linearly; (2) chords are localized in the major and minor modes according to bass scale steps; and (3) the various contrapuntal procedures associated with dissonant chords used in both the strict style (stylus gravis) and freer styles (stylus luxurians communis and stylus luxurians theatralis) are analyzed as German musical-rhetorical figures. In chapter 3, these three theoretical constructs are used to organize an extensive collection of dissonant chord progressions derived from the aforementioned treatises of Heinichen, Mattheson, Marpurg, and Bach. In chapter 4, I draw from basic elements of partimento theory—namely cadences, sequences, and the Rule of the Octave (regola dell’ottava or règle de l’octave)—to construct a series of exercises; most of these exercises use a relatively strict four-part texture and are illustrated from multiple righthand starting positions to promote flexibility in the student. Finally, in chapter 5, practical matters of thoroughbass realization, namely pragmatic and expressive concerns, are discussed and illustrated with examples from many treatises of the 17th and 18th centuries.

CONTINUO - Abstract
This article confronts the dialectic between parsimonious voice leading, as represented by neo-Riemannian theory, and the diatonic Stimmführungsmodelle, or the traditional formulas and methods of thorough-bass pedagogy as they were preserved in the nineteenth century. The historical contexts are represented by Carl Friedrich Weitzmann's essay on the augmented triad (1853) and Simon Sechter's Generalbass-Schule (1835). The possibility of setting the diatonic and chromatic models into productive analytic practice is explored, even as it is acknowledged that they are grounded in different principles. Steven Rings's "syntactical interaction"and Richard Cohn's "double syntax"are invoked. A Brahms song and a Schubert symphony serve as extended analytical examples. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

TONALITY , *CONTINUO , *HARMONY in music - Abstract
This article focuses on the interpretation of the fundamental bass in terms of structural modes. The aim is to develop an analytical interpretation that relates tonality and tonal form to the fundamental bass. The approach is anchored in the Ramellian tradition by considering the fundamental bass as an autonomous level of analysis. A contiguity principle is governed by the modes of the musical tetractys, or structural modes: P4-M2-P4 (first mode), M2-P4-P4 (second mode), and P4-P4-M2 (third mode). These modes consist of three-scale degrees, which are labeled tonic, subdominant, or dominant, respectively, thus creating a conceptual bridge between scale theory and functional harmony. The dialogue between fundamental bass and real bass reflects a broader dialogue between a structural approach to fundamental bass and elements from thoroughbass and partimento traditions. Hence the point of departure was not ‘Music Theory'as such, but the interaction between music theory, music history, performance practice, aesthetics, and related sciences. This multidisciplinary approach, with the accent on the interplay between music performance and music theory, is reflected in the contributions to this book.Thomas Christensen, in his contribution, shows how the development of tonal harmonic theory went hand in hand with the practice of thoroughbass. Both Robert Gjerdingen and Giorgio Sanguinetti focus on the Neapolitan tradition of partimento. Gjerdingen addresses the relation between the realization of partimenti and contrapuntal thinking, illustrated by examples of contrapuntal imitation and combination in partimenti, leading to the ‘partimentofugue'. Sanguinetti elaborates on the history of this partimentofugue from the early 18th until the late 19th century. Rudolf Lutz, finally, presents his use of partimenti in educational practice, giving examples of how reviving this old practice can give new insights to composers, conductors and musicians.

The Creative Problem Solving theory analyzes the main steps of a creative process: problem identification and delineation, information gathering, idea generation, its evaluation, refinement, implementation, and verification. Based on the findings of this theory, the present study aims at highlighting that not only artists and composers perform their tasks in a creative way, but also professionals doing jobs which are considered as not particularly creative. This study focuses in particular on continuo players and investment lawyers, stressing the often-overlooked creative elements of these jobs. The paper's conclusions highlight the individual and social returns of promoting creativity [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

38. The Medieval Latin Reception of the Pseudo-Aristotelian 'On Indivisible Lines': Reassessing the State of the Art

- Abstract
This article deals with the first Latin reception of Pseudo-Aristotle’s On Indivisible Lines and its impact on the medieval debate about the continuum. Robert Grosseteste’s and Albert the Great’s references to this pseudo-Aristotelian text show that it could be regarded as a source for where to find information about the indivisibilist tenet, as well as an expansion of Aristotle’s anti-atomistic critiques scattered throughout his authentic works. The use of On Indivisible Lines made by Henry of Harclay and Adam of Wodeham confirms this trend: the reading of this text could be twofold according to the tenet defended.

- Abstract
Letn, m∈Nwithm≤nandXbe a metric continuum. We con-sider the hyperspacesCn(X)(respectively,Fn(X)) of all nonempty closedsubsets ofXwith at mostncomponents (respectively, npoints). The(n, m)−fold hyperspace suspension onXwas introduced in 2018 by Anaya,Maya, and Vázquez-Juárez, to be the quotient spaceCn(X)/Fm(X)which isobtained fromCn(X)by identifyingFm(X)into a one-point set. In this paperwe prove thatCn(X)/Fm(X)contains ann−cell;Cn(X)/Fm(X)has prop-erty (b);Cn(X)/Fm(X)is unicoherent;Cn(X)/Fm(X)is colocally connected;Cn(X)/Fm(X)is aposyndetic; andCn(X)/Fm(X)is finitely aposyndetic., Sean n, m ∈ N con m ≤ n y X es un continuo métrico.

The joint interpretation of phenology and nutritional metabolism provides important data on plant tissues reactivity and the period of gall induction. A population of Aspidosperma macrocarpon Apocynaceae with leaf galls induced by a Pseudophacopteron sp. Psylloidea was studied in Goiás state, Brazil. Assuming the morphological similarity between host leaves and intralaminar galls, a gradient from non-galled leaves towards galls should be generated, establishing a morpho-physiological continuum. The phenology, infestation of galls, and the carbohydrate and nitrogen contents were monthly evaluated in 10-20 individuals, from September 2009 to September 2010. Our objective was to analyze the nutritional status and the establishment of a physiological continuum between the galls and the non-galled leaves of A. macrocarpon. The period of leaf flushing coincided with the highest levels of nitrogen allocated to the new leaves, and to the lowest levels of carbohydrates. The nutrients were previously consumed by the growing leaves, by the time of gall induction. The levels of carbohydrates were higher in galls than in non-galled leaves in time-based analyses, which indicateed their potential sink functionality. The leaves were infested in October, galls developed along the year, and gall senescence took place from March to September, together with host leaves. This first senescent leaves caused insect mortality. The higher availability of nutrients at the moment of gall induction was demonstrated and seems to be important not only for the establishment of the galling insect but also for the responsiveness of the host plant tissues.

Abstract. A function between topological spaces f : X → Y is said to be connected provided that the graph Γ(f) = {(x, f(x)) : x ∈ X} is connected. Given a continuum X, some hyperspaces are considered: 2 X, the collection of all non-empty closed subsets of X; C(X), the set of all subcontinua of X, and Fn(X) the set of nonempty subsets of at most n points of X. Moreover, given f : X → Y a function between continua, consider the induced functions: 2 f : 2X → 2 Y , defined by 2 f (A) = f(A) for each A ∈ 2 X; Fn(f): Fn(X) → Fn(Y ), the restriction function Fn(f) = 2f |Fn(X) ; and, if f is a weak Darboux function, we define C(f): C(X) → C(Y ) by C(f) = 2f |C(X) . In this paper we study the relationships between the following five statements: 1) f is connected; 2) C(f) is connected; 3) Fn(f) is connected, for some n ≥ 2; 4) Fn(f) is connected, for all n ≥ 2; 5) 2 f is connected.

- Abstract
[ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The manuscript of Striggio's Mass Ecco sí beato giorno for 40 and 60 voices is a fascinating bibliographical object, the dating of which has always been problematic. From the 18th century with Sébastien de Brossard, to the present day with Laurent Guillo and, more recently, Davitt Moroney, several hypotheses have been proposed for the date of this unicum, copied in France during the 17th century. This article presents new evidence based on the identification of three watermarks, whose concomitant presence allows dating the manuscript to the decade of 1610. The accurate dating of this manuscript is important not only for the reception of Striggio's music in 17thcentury France, but also because it may represent the first occurrence of the term 'basse continue'-or rather 'basse continuée'-in a French source. Furthermore, the manuscript bears strong evidence that it was the copyist who devised the 'basse continuée' part, and that he achieved this solely based on the vocal parts, and not from any pre-existent Italian basso seguente. Indeed, the analysis of the two organ parts reveals the challenging and laborious process the French copyist undertook to reach his goal. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

In a recent study by Robin A. Leaver, the Sibley Choralbuch (Rochester, NY) was re-identified as likely stemming from J. S. Bach's students in Dresden from around 1730-40 (2016). The manuscript contains 227 figured-bass chorales--melodies with single figured basses--and thus matches the first part of C. P. E. Bach's description of his father's teaching method, where students first received a figured-bass chorale and added two inner voices. Later, students composed their own basses and figures. Here, the plural "basses" is significant, because several "multiple-bass" chorale sources have also come to light in recent years, many stemming from J. S. Bach's students, Kittel and Kirnberger, who discuss this technique in their treatises. These sources suggest that a little-known, keyboard chorale tradition also played an important role in Bach's pedagogy. The present article attempts to reconstruct this pedagogical process using contemporaneous German sources. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The present paper aims at accounting for the Spanish Imperfecto, Perfecto, Pluscuamperfecto and the Indefinido by applying three binary tense oppositions: Present vs Past, Synchronous vs Posterior and Imperfect(ive) vs Perfect(ive). For the sixteen Spanish tense forms under analysis a binary approach leads to covering twelve of them. Their relation with the preterital forms outside the range of the three oppositions is accounted for by two surgical operations: (a) the notion of Imperfect(ive) is severed from the notion of ongoing progress by restricting it to underinformation about completion and by seeing continuous tense forms as involving a more complex semantics; (b) the notion of (non-)stative is strictly severed from interference of information coming from the arguments of a verb. These theoretical moves make the way free for a formal-semantic insight into the interaction of Spanish tense and aspect. It also paves the way for a principled distinction between completion and anteriority. Restricted to tense forms pertaining to the past, our analysis sheds light on the struggle for survival of tense forms outside the binary system. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
