In the modern world, consulting has frmly gained its position in the market as a “doctor in the business world”, performing services at all stages of an organization’s life cycle — creating, developing, and solving not only situational but and strategic, innovative challenges. The emergence of such commercial services as consulting, of course, was influenced by the demand for specialists in various felds of activity, who were simply not available in the organization or keep them unprofitable due to the difference in the frequency of such services. However, in Russia there is a stereotype that non-material resources are much inferior to material ones and the use of consulting services is a waste of money. In fact, high-quality work of specialists can provide a business with an increase in the efciency of economic activity at times. The work of the consultant is based on the scientifc organization of labor, system analysis, evidence-based decision-making methods. It is also worth noting that the consultant soberly assesses the situation in the organization and treats it impartially. The activities of consultants today is one of the structural components of the infrastructure to support small and medium-sized businesses operating on commercial terms. Indeed, the payment of the work of a consultant in an organization is high, but it is worth considering that such work can bring an organization greater proft in the long term and short term. Also, the work of a consultant can save you from many risks (fnes, legal fees, etc.). Foreign experience in using consulting services shows that European countries often resort to them and sometimes cooperate on an ongoing basis. In Russia, the situation is different. Managers try to reduce transaction costs by avoiding these services. This article will analyze the situation of the market of consulting services in Russia, its development and prospects, the statistics is given at the end of the 2018th year.

The present study compares the descriptive language used by boutique, medium and large human capital consulting firms to sell services through their websites. Using computer assisted content analysis of website text (product pages, about us, and FAQ sections) across 123 consulting firms' websites, resulting in a total of 51,612 words. The findings suggest a strong shared focus on leadership development and assessment across different types of consulting firms. Boutique firms more frequently specialized in surveys and highlighted terms such as health, while larger firms specialized in job fit and leadership. Medium sizedfirms tend to use the most positive language centered around growth and development (talent, success and effectiveness) while boutique firms show a preference for negative words that create urgency among potential customers urgency (issues, complex). The implications for consulting firms are vast and equally critical. Future research is also needed to explore how human capital consulting firms adapt their website content over time in response to changing internal and external business environments. Faced with the disenchantment and disengagement expressed by their employees, business leaders are considering ways of incorporating more benevolence into managerial practices. Nevertheless, 'benevolence'—care and concern for the well-being of others—has not yet been studied in an organizational profit-focused context. In this paper, we seek to investigate the emergence and practice of benevolence with an eye on profit and performance. We begin by investigating the main ethical approaches to benevolence—virtue ethical, utilitarian, and deontological. Then, based on an empirical study (in the context of an upward feedback system in a consulting firm), we identify two distinct types of benevolence. On the one hand, formal benevolence is defined and monitored by the organizational processes and actions of leaders; it is understood by all concerned to be bounded by organizational performance. On the other hand, informal benevolence exists at the margin of these processes, in interpersonal and discretionary relationships. We set out to analyze these two types of benevolence and the complementarity between them. We also discuss to what extent they can be managed, teasing out some implications for managers and some potential avenues for further research. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

- Abstract
Knowledge management and the strategy surrounding it has been highlighted as keys for achieving and maintaining competitive advantage, particularly for knowledge-intensive firms. Consulting firms are knowledge-intensive firms that generate revenue solely through offering the knowledge of their consultants, arguably making knowledge management even more crucial in their competitive fields. In some cases, consultants do not collaborate with their consultancy colleagues in their everyday work, but rather meet only in team activities and social contexts, making the sharing and maintaining of knowledge an even tougher challenge. It is thereby of interest to investigate various types of consulting firms to evaluate how they manage knowledge and how important it is. The purpose of this study is to enhance the understanding of knowledge management in consulting firms through analysing the case of a technical consulting firm. The study focused particularly on two dimensions: knowledge sharing activities and knowledge management strategy. Fifteen interviews were conducted, and the data was analysed through thematic analysis supported with models and frameworks from the knowledge management literature. The findings of the study point out that whilst not having stated a clear knowledge management strategy, the firm utilises a personalization strategy with a focus on encouraging knowledge sharing in personal contexts whilst putting less effort into documenting knowledge. Supporting the strategy, the firm houses a helpful and learning culture where seeking support from colleagues is encouraged and teaching your colleagues is part of personal development plans. The consulting teams’ collective meetings were seen as important boosters of knowledge sharing along with structured learning from colleagues, whilst the time constraints from client obligations were mutually deemed the main inhibitor. The suggested improvements for the firm were to first make a clear strategy regarding the

Summary Those involved in the management of the community pharmacy as a business represent the props for its activity. Some, such as accountants, provide support on a daily basis while others, such as transaction agents, may provide one-off assistance. A multitude of players offer training, information and services which have become essential in an increasingly complex and changing world. - Abstract
Public procurement legislation should recognize the intellectual character of the services of engineering and architecture. Nevertheless, in Spain these laws have advanced in the opposite direction, ending with the total assimilation of these services with any other service without intellectual content. We are now in the worst times for the valuation of the quality in the services of engineering, due to the fact that the Spanish legislator is mainly concerned about the risks of corruption, and not so much about the efficiency of investments. But Europe suggests that "cost can be fixed, so the competition could be held only in terms of quality". Our legislation should assume the spirit of these new European Directives, recognizing the intellectual character of engineering and architecture services, and appreciating the quality more than just the price, because excellence in engineering is the best guarantee for an efficient investment. MERGERS & acquisitions ,CONSULTING firms ,TECHNICAL literature ,INDUSTRIES - Abstract
Many empirical studies across various industry sectors show a high failure rate of mergers and acquisitions (M&A), suggesting that this instrument of corporate development is rather risky. Since engineering consulting firms usually have a low tangible asset base as well as good educated and highly mobile professionals, carrying out an M&A transaction in this particular service sector creates an even higher risk. It is evident from the relevant construction and engineering literature that a large number of engineering consulting firms engage in M&A for their corporate development. Owing to the uniqueness of that service sector combined with the high failure rate of M&A, a survey among the top 100 engineering consulting firms in Europe was conducted to investigate the motives behind M&A transactions. Findings suggest that diversification into new service/client markets as well as the penetration into new geographic markets were the most important motives. Further, increasing the firm's market share and the acceleration of growth were the next most popularly rated motives, while tax reasons or spending the firm's excess cash were both seen as relatively unimportant motives. The results show that - compared to other industry sectors - engineering consulting firms had some very different motives or another emphasis was placed on those motives when conducting an M&A transaction. Results also show that some motives were just as important for engineering consulting firms as for firms of other industry sectors, for example the increase of market share or the acceleration of firm growth. Today, the current energy situation is particularly difficult for major French energy players. Indeed, they have to face high energy prices - that go up and down -, have to look at renewable energies – by integrating them into their energy mix or into their distribution model - and digitize to manage their customer relations - customers’ behavior has changed and utilities have to adapt to this new behavior. They must respond to these problems while being confronted with the arrival of new entrants to the energy market: multiplication of energy players but also appearance of players in telecommunications, data. To cope with this energy revolution, the great French utilities have no choice but to transform themselves. They must evolve technologically, digitally and also organically, structurally and culturally. The strategy of major historical energy players is therefore completely redesigned in order to give them the possibility of remaining competitive in their market and not losing their place in this revolution. They have to adapt to these new challenges and to transform themselves. Major French energy players, as ENGIE, EDF and RTE, have already started to imagine and implement new strategies to face the current energy challenges. Operational strategy consulting firms such as Weave are there to assist them in their transformation. The consultants of Weave carry out indeed numerous missions to answer the problems of these companies. Weave is here to help these companies to evolve and transform by giving them accompaniment throughout a good overview of the current energy market and current challenges of the society. Weave helps the major French energy actors to deploy new strategies, from the design of the strategy to its implementation. Indeed, Weave has developed a recognized expertise to accompany its clients in the energy transition and respond to the challenges of development and transformation of their value chain. On the basis of innovative offers, Weave intervenes with general management and dedicated businesses.

A business plan competition is conducted to test whether survey instruments or panel judges are able to identify the fastest growing firms. Participants submitted six- to eight-page business plans and defended them before a three- or four-judge panel. Applicants are surveyed shortly after they applied and one and two years after the competition. Follow-up surveys are used to construct measures of enterprise growth and baseline surveys and panel scores to construct measures of enterprise growth potential. A survey measure of ability correlates strongly with future growth, but the panel scores add to predictive power even after controlling for ability and other survey variables. The survey questions have more power to explain the variance in growth. Participants presenting before the panel were given a chance to win customized management training. Fourteen months after the training, there is no positive effect of the training on growth of the business.

International audience; The evolution of modelling of intra-urban mobility in France, 1960-2005 : the influence of the institutional organization of transport The modelling of intra-urban mobility uses explanatory models developed by experts in transport planning, and is applied to a local territory on behalf of public authorities in charge of all or part of the local transport network. The expansion of French unimodal models (the DAVIS model for roads and the TERESE model for public transport) was part of the development of a dichotomous institutional organization of transport from 1960 to 1990 involving the territorial services of the Ministry of Infrastructure and then the intermunicipal public transport authorities. The latter were belatedly given the role of organizing the whole urban transport system, while the mobilities of city dwellers were shown to be multimodal, as revealed by the success of tram systems.

Professional careers of the consultants and the activity of the urban planning and strategy consulting firms show how atypical is this segment of the consulting market in France. The way it works is inherited from the Glorious Thirty. It is a hardly defined, a highly segmented and a financially fragile market. It is still largely dominated by the public sector (State, local authorities, urban planning agencies) and it is not fully open to competition.

When needing software, using the services of an IT consulting rm is todaya common solution for companies nowadays. To make a system suited forthe intended users it is important to focus on usability. There are many dierent approaches possible to use when developinga usable system. The purpose of this study was to study if any of theapproaches, goal-directed design, could be used when a customer orders asolution from a consulting rm. This was to be studied through a case studywhich was conducted at the IT consulting rm Sigma. One of Sigma's customersis Toyota Material Handling Group which is a supplier of forkliftsand additional services like the online eet management platform ToyotaISite. The platform is about to be further developed by connecting it to amobile application with the purpose of making the platform more accessibleand ecient. The assignment in the case study was to develop a prototypefor this mobile application. This was done using the goal-centered design approach.Further, in order to understand the work at Sigma today, interviewswere conducted with developers at the company. The data collected led to an analysis about how Sigma and other similarIT consulting rms could use the goal-centered design approach when developingsoftware. The conclusion drawn was that parts of the method couldbe motivated to the customer and thereby be used in future projects, whilesome parts would be harder to motivate for the customer. The includedsteps were user research, context scenarios, requirements and high-delityprototyping. These conclusions can be used to integrate usability work inthe development process in the context of an IT consulting rm deliveringa system to a customer.

Emerging market economies have been experiencing high credit growth and high delinquency rates amongst retail banking customers in recent years. However, collections practices have not always kept pace with this rapid growth; many collectors still rely on relatively unstructured processes and weak oversight frameworks. It is therefore important to consider how fair and ethical treatment of borrowers can be better promoted in these markets. To this end, International Finance Corporation (IFC) commissioned a study in 2009 to examine the question of what guiding principles should financial institutions follow to raise their responsible and ethical standards in collections. IFC has subsequently commissioned Oliver Wyman to study existing global retail debt collections practices and recommend tangible actions that lenders and collectors can take to promote responsible and ethical standards in the field. The conclusions of this study are based on field research conducted by IFC and Oliver Wyman, industry experts analysis and opinion, and a survey of institutions in 20 emerging markets.

An intense will to influence its environment can be noted particularly in the multinationalconsulting firms’ sector. These companies try hard to dominate high competitive markets byimposing their new practices. They generalize new managerial doctrines which dismantle thelegitimacy of the established practices and require using adapted devices, in other words, theirs. This thesis examines these operations of orientation and proposes a discursive model able toenhance the diffusion of a management practice. The neo-institutional and fashion managementtheories highlight the fact that managers adopt a practice according to “technico-economic” butalso “sociopsychological”criteria. Our model is based on these both adoption motives. It suggestsintroducing a practice as simple and efficient in order to meet the managers’ “technicoeconomic”needs, but also as modern and rational in order to meet their “sociopsychological” expectations.

Thesis: Contractual relations of consulting firm and client Author: Karolína Brosková The purpose of my thesis is to analyse the contractual relations between consulting firm and its client. The reason for my research is an increasing amount of consulting firms arising in Czech business enviroment as well as non-existence of precise and explicit regulation of these relations in Czech legal system. The thesis is composed of two main chapters, each of them dealing with different aspects of management consulting. Chapter One is subdivided into three parts. Part One is introductory and defines basic terminology of management consulting, its history and typology. Part Two deals with subjects of contractual relations between consulting firm and client. Finally part Three explains when these relations will be regulated by Czech commercial contract law. Chapter Two examines relevant Czech legislation in combination with practical examples from valid agreements. The chapter consists of two parts. Part One focuses on particularities of Czech contract law. Part Two investigates what should be included in consulting agreement. Conclusions are drawn partially in Chapter Two, part One and partially in the epilogue. The main aim of the thesis is to find out what is the economic cause of these relations, and what...

In the last years, dominated by the new reality of the global markets, the traditional vision of corporate management has recorded many changes, that also change the role and the organizational structures of management consulting firms. Corporations operating in global markets have very diversified needs of management consulting. The new global markets generate a depth renewal in the services offered by consulting firms. The rapid changes in consulting require new levels of specialisation for the professional resources involved. Consultancy companies are actually the repository for years of experience and competences, transferred to the youngest consultants through team work on each single project and continuous training.

All rights reserved, This article proposes a discursive device which aims to increase diffusion of management practices. The literature review, based on neo-institutional and management fashion theories, shows that managers adopt a practice according to “technical-economic” and “socio-psychological” criteria. Our device, based on these both adoption sources, convinces 85 % of the sample to adopt “FRE’s model”, a yet fictitious practice with apparent defects.© 2011 Lavoisier SAS. All rights reserved
