QUANTUM theory ,NINETEENTH century ,CRITICAL theory ,LITERATURE - Abstract
The variables and constants in literature are as difficult to separate and understand as the intricacies of quantum physics. This is the basic mode of literary existence and also an important precondition for the longevity of literary classics. However, since the late 19th century, literary currents have been turbulent, and wave upon wave of critical theory has evinced a discord between "the intrinsic and the extrinsic," even amounting to mutual exclusion, with the result that literary constants or common sense have been intentionally or unintentionally ignored. This is not only clear evidence of the accelerated development of human society, but also the result of the interaction of many complex factors. For this reason, a dialectical analysis of the relationship between variables and constants or "extrinsic research" and "intrinsic research" has long been a major issue not easily avoided. - Abstract
Abstract—Results of researching the possibility of yttrium deposition on alloys via chemical transport reactions, which occur in a powder mixture containing yttrium chloride, are presented. The yttrium transfer on alloys is found to be possible via substitution reactions and the incorporation of nickel–yttrium master alloy particles 1–3 μm in size into the external zone of the coating when performing chrome aluminizing by powder or slip methods. In this paper we proposed a class of ratio estimators using auxiliary information for the estimation of population mean under stratified sampling. The proposed estimator in this work is based on the Yadav and Baghel (2021) estimator. The expression of the mean square error for this class of estimators is derived and the performance of the proposed estimator is compared with competing estimators. Numerical illustration of efficiency comparison is also worked out in the paper. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The issue of forces, the dimensional universal constants, their dimensionless components, marked by the constant ratio of spiral generation, Φ, the golden ratio (1.618), and the feasible existence of a universal principle, are again addressed. As described in earlier articles, Φ is a dimensionless component or feature of most, if not all, of the respective physical, dimensional universal constants. In this rendition, the subject is further elucidated, focusing on various physical theories and their suggested unity through Φ. In this context, the subject is further developed from various perspectives, including epistemological, which serves to bring about more, perhaps deeper insights on the situation. As pointed out, with the exception of the Special Theory of Relativity, and the early stages of quantum mechanics during the early 20th century, modern physical theories have not focused explicitly on any of the dimensional universal constants as center pieces of their theories. With regard to those universal constants, focusing on their dimensionless components, further clarification is intended and illustrated in this article, such as pertaining to wave mechanics and string theory, and their relation to the universal constants. In doing so, one discusses basic questions. Could such universal constants have been proposed or predicted in a physical theory before they were discovered through experiment? Also, can experiments be devised that indicate the feasible existence of a universal principle of completion connected to or executed through the universal constants, that is, through their dimensionless or trans-dimensional features? Can such a principle involve or implicate a deeper ultra-reality of universals? Does such a principle indicate an unfolding of reality, a developmental process, a temporal directionality? In this article, the relevancy of such universal constants, their dimensionless features, marked by Φ, to programmed computer simulations are also shown. These are tangible, visible figures on a computer screen that involve vortical, fractal features, which are connected to Φ and to other dimensionless constants. These are creations due to the human mind's involvement with the mathematical design of computer processes that represent reality. These computer generated figures of developing vortical features, displayed on a computer screen, may be mirrored in a vortical, developing reality of matter-energy and in the higherordered morphologies of organisms. In this connection, based on research, the function of the human brain, and by extension, the mind, appears to be dependent on the anatomical presence of the dimensionless biological constant Φ, the golden ratio. What becomes clear throughout this article, while repeatedly addressing Φ and other dimensionless constants, and referring to various, possibly united, scientific approaches via Φ, is the subtle indication of a universal causation throughout various, natural phenomena on all scales. Such phenomena and their causation, it is feasibly theorized, would be generated, supported, and guided vortically, completely, stably and developmentally by means of the universal constants through their dimensionless features or components, such as Φ and its powers. The various or specific phenomena, or the theories pertaining to such, are thus unified in this manner via Φ. This process of vortical regeneration involving completing forces would occur along with the support of other dimensionless constants such as π and the exponential constant, e. A non-relative, temporal directionality, a guided unfolding, via a guided completion through the universal constants, would be manifest via such a regeneration of completion. In that context, randomness becomes a limiting case, and perhaps, has been, at best, a constructive illusion in the history of science. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

PRESUMPTIONS (Law) ,INFANTS ,PROHIBITION of alcohol ,ISLAM ,CARDINAL virtues ,ORGAN donation - Abstract
The research aim revolves around the issue of "The Constants and Variables in Islamic Sharia," where this topic is the subject of extensive discussion at all levels of thought, and opinions about it fluctuate between excess and negligence. One or what is meant by what was mentioned in the Noble Qur'an and the Mutawatir Sunnah, and everything that does not accept ijtihad. The research identified it with five matters, which are: First: matters of belief, such as belief in God Almighty and the Last Day... and others, second: matters that are known from religion by necessity, such as the obligation of prayer, fasting and Hajj, and the prohibition of adultery and alcohol, third: matters that are agreed upon with definitive evidence, Fourth: all What is proven by a definitive text and evidence. Fifth: The basics of morals and virtues, and the ugliness of vices. Then he talked about the variables, which accept change, and in which diligence is valid, and the research has identified them with five things: First: The texts are definitive, presumptive evidence, or presumptive evidence, definitive evidence, or presumptive evidence and significance, second means of transactions from sale, lease and others, third: Means that serve worship include the use of technology in matters that serve worship, such as using escalators in circumambulation and throwing pebbles during Hajj, Fourth: Emerging issues and issues such as the ruling on testtube babies, organ donation, and developing zakat money. One jurist is different from the other in adapting issues, so there will be a difference in giving the legal ruling. Then the research mentioned the reasons that necessitate or allow the change of some legal rulings or differences in them, and identified them in the following: First: the flexibility of the basic sources of legislation, namely the Qur'an and the Sunnah, Second: the flexibility of the sources of jurisprudential legislation, such as Istihab, sent interest, approval, and custom, Third: The realism of Islamic jurisprudence and its observance of circumstances, changing times and the condition of people, Fourth: Consideration and realization of the purposes of legal rulings now and in the future. Then the research mentioned jurisprudential applications that changed his ruling or the jurists differed in them, in the era of the Messenger, the era of the Companions, the era of the followers and after them to our present era. The article deals with the question if the categories of “constant” are “variables” in a projection on media communication. Status of these categories in science, their features in a natural-science and human comprehension are examined. Constants and variable units of culture are analyzed in their dynamic development. Media communication is interpreted in the context of representation of mass language awareness through the active processes of language development. The author pays attention to the invariance of cultural constants in the media, their certain semantic and functional diffusion in relation to the variable units of culture in media communication.

Hydroxypyridones (HOPOs) are an important class of chelating compounds. They bind strongly to hard metal ions such as Fe(III). Here we present the solid‐phase synthesis of peptides containing 1,2‐HOPO moieties linked through a carboxylic acid placed at position 4 of the ring. A total of four ligands were studied, two bidentate and two hexadentate. The latter were synthesized by both stepwise and convergent strategies. The ligands and their complexes were characterized from the physico‐chemical perspective. The pKa values for all ligands showed their total deprotonation at pH lower than the physiological pH. The formation constant of the Fe(III) complex (log β) ranged from 23.66, corresponding to ligand A, to 27.63, corresponding to ligand C. The pFe3+ at pH=7.4 revealed that ligands B and C had a strong iron affinity (26.91 and 28.58, respectively), thereby making them suitable for further study in therapeutic applications. The present paper advocates the improved estimation of population mean through a new class of estimators using the known informations on an auxiliary variable under the Simple Random Sampling Scheme. The existing estimators of population mean have been shown as the members of the proposed class. The Bias and Mean Squared Error (MSE) of the suggested class are derived upto the first order of approximation. The values of Bias and the minimum MSE are obtained by optimizing the chracterizing scalar. The MSE of the suggested estimator has also been compared with the MSEs of the existing estimators for the comparison of these estimators. Some of the new members of the suggested family are also presented in the paper which are more efficient than the existing ones emperically which has been shown using a natural population. HUMAN beings ,GOD in Islam ,DILIGENCE - Abstract
It is undoubtedly true that science and knowledge are evolving with the development of time, and the developments that occur in life are many. As time progressed and lifestyles developed alongside, people needed to develop in understanding the words of Allah Almighty, and deduce what would be a solution to these developments, in a way that accompanies and harmonizes people's lives, and in a manner that does not contradict the general principles of the indications of the Noble Qur'an, and the guidance of the Noble Qur'an in this is to refer to the general frameworks that meet the needs of human beings without going into the details, leaving this to the hardworks of the diligents, and the scholars who have taken in the tools of diligence explored, and from this point of view, it is not hidden that there have been changes in public life from several aspects, including those related to the political aspect, others related to the social aspect, as well as those related to the economic aspect. There is no doubt that, in contrast to these changes, there are constants, principles, and general rules that cannot be overridden. In order to understand these changes, it is necessary to delve into the concept of constants in order to clarify them and clarify what they entail, and on the contrary, things are distinguished, and then after that we talk about the rule of variables and their determinants in the Book of Allah, and how the People of knowledge interract with it in the light of their understanding of the noble verses? To what extent did the scholars preserve the general principles in light of their understanding of these changes? What is the importance of these variables in our contemporary reality? Through his research, the researcher will try to answer these questions in order to reach a satisfactory answer to what may be imagined of the rigidity of the Islamic religion, and its inflexibility in dealing with various and changing issues. ISLAMIC law ,ZAKAT ,DISASTERS - Abstract
In a time of challenges imposed by contemporary life' unprecedented issues and developments have emerged' but the Islamic Sharia is integrated and appropriate for every time and place. He made in Islam constants that guarantee continuity and variables that guarantee it validity and suitability for all circumstances and times. The search for legal solutions to calamities and developments is a great matter' so God Almighty made it one of the tasks of the prophets and those firmly rooted in knowledge. If our ancestors worked hard to find solutions to their problems' we should also strive to find solutions to developments and calamities' through diligence and giving the Islamic mind its role in understanding religion and downloading it to the reality in which it is living in terms of developments and calamities. 20. Quantum state of wormholes and path integral
- Abstract
© 1991 The American Physical Society. I am very grateful to Pedro Gonzalez-Diaz for many enlightening discussions and encouraging comments. Also, I wish to thank Guillermo Mena Marugan for valuable explanations and Jonathan Halliwell for useful conversations and for introducing me to some references relevant to this work., The quantum state of a wormhole can be represented by a path integral over all asymptotically Euclidean four-geometries and all matter fields which have prescribed values, the arguments of the wave function, on a three-surface S which divides the spacetime manifold into two disconnected parts. The ground-state wave function is picked out by requiring that there be no matter excitations in the asymptotic region. Once the path integrals over the lapse and shift functions are evaluated, the requirement that the spacetime be asymptotically Euclidean can be accomplished by fixing the asymptotic gravitational momentum in the remaining path integral. It is claimed that no wave function exists which corresponds to asymptotic field configurations such that the effective gravitational constant is negative in the asymptotic region. The wormhole wave functions are worked out in minisuperspace models with massless minimal and conformal scalar fields., Depto. de Física Teórica, Fac. de Ciencias Físicas, TRUE, pub

21. Optical analysis of absorbing thin films: application to ternary chalcopyrite semiconductors
- Abstract
© Optical Society of America. The authors thank J. Carabe (Instituto de Energías Renovables, Centro de Investigaciones Energéticas y Medio Ambientales) for optical measurement facilities and J.M. Gómez de Salazar (Departamento de Metalurgia, Universidad Complutense de Madrid) for the scanning electron microscope facilities., The refractive index n and the absorption coefficient-alpha of radio frequency sputtered CuGaSe2 and CuInSe2 thin films were obtained by means of transmissivity (T) and reflectivity (R) measurements at normal incidence. The optical properties were determined from the rigorous expressions for the transmission and the reflection in an air/film/(glass)substrate/air multilayer system. The solutions to this system of equations are not unique, and the physically meaningful solution is identified by trying different thicknesses in the numerical approach. Usually, nonacceptable n dispersion curves are found for all thicknesses. To be able to obtain a good n dispersion curve and, therefore, a correct absorption coefficient, we propose a simple modification of the equations for R and T through a factor called the coherence factor (CF). Because of the surface roughness and the nonuniformity of n and alpha, the light rays that reflect internally in the interface between the substrate and the film have a random difference in optical path. The CF accounts for this effect. This modification leads to an unambiguous and accurate determination of the optical properties and thickness of thin films for all wavelengths where transmission is not negligible. The CF is shown to be greatly dependent on the thickness of the film. This method can be used even when the R and T spectra do not have interference fringes. This method is applied successfully to the optical analyses, in the 0.4-2.5-mu-m wavelength range, of CuInSe2 and CuGaSe2 ternary chalcopyrite thin films deposited onto glass substrates by radio-frequency sputtering., Depto. de Estructura de la Materia, Física Térmica y Electrónica, Fac. de Ciencias Físicas, TRUE, pub

22. Selenium-Substituted Monomethine Cyanine Dyes as Selective G-Quadruplex Spectroscopic Probes with Theranostic Potential
- Abstract
The binding interactions of six ligands, neutral and monocationic asymmetric monomethine cyanine dyes comprising benzoselenazolyl moiety with duplex DNA and RNA and G-quadruplex structures were evaluated using fluorescence, UV/Vis (thermal melting) and circular dichroism (CD) spectroscopy. The main objective was to assess the impact of different substituents (methyl vs. sulfopropyl vs. thiopropyl/thioethyl) on the nitrogen atom of the benzothiazolyl chromophore on various nucleic acid structures. The monomethine cyanine dyes with methyl substituents showed a 100-fold selectivity for G-quadruplex versus duplex DNA. Study results indicate that cyanines bind with G-quadruplex via end pi-pi stacking interactions and possible additional interactions with nucleobases/phosphate backbone of grooves or loop bases. Cyanine with thioethyl substituent distinguishes duplex DNA and RNA and G-quadruplex structures by distinctly varying ICD signals. Furthermore, cell viability assay reveals the submicromolar activity of cyanines with methyl substituents against all tested human cancer cell lines. Confocal microscopy analysis shows preferential accumulation of cyanines with sulfopropyl and thioethyl substituents in mitochondria and indicates localization of cyanines with methyl in nucleus, particularly nucleolus. This confirms the potential of examined cyanines as theranostic agents, possessing both fluorescent properties and cell viability inhibitory effect.

Biblejskie obrazy kak konstanty religioznogo diskursa (na primere apokrificheskoj literatury) [Biblical images as constants of religious discourse (On the example of apocryphal literature)]. Scientific Journal “Discourse-P”, 1(38), 34–49. doi: 10.24411/1817-9568-2020-10103 The article analyzes the biblical images presented in the Apocrypha “The walk of Agapius to Paradise” within the framework of a discoursological approach. Biblical images are constants of religious discourse. It is through them that religious values, the values of faith, are transmitted in a direct or veiled form. The semantic and symbolic content of the biblical images reveals the hidden spiritual and moral meaning of the text associated with the idea of human salvation, the main Christian truths. Apocrypha is not the main genre of religious discourse. They belong to easy entertaining reading, but at the same time they were intended to perform spiritual work in common with religious literature. The purpose of this study is to show what place is given to the biblical images in the Apocrypha and what role they played in the transmission and dissemination of theological knowledge and truths, in the formation of the worldview of ancient Russian people. This Apocrypha is included in the thematic apocryphal cycle of stories about Paradise. The analysis is based on an allegorical way of interpreting the text, revealing the symbolic meaning of the images. Its peculiarity lies in the fact that the consideration of the phenomena of the world is given through the prism of religious ideas, bound and determined creed, system of specific provisions: the recognition of God as a Supreme principle that isthe cause of existence of all things, a belief in the ability of man to fellowship and Union with Him both in this world and in the hereafter through faith, based on the system of scientific knowledge about God, religious dogmas and commandments, which in latent form is present in the apocryphal literature.

The effect of polymerization conditions (temperature, polymerization time, monomer and hydrogen concentrations) on propylene polymerization in the liquid monomer in the presence of a TiCl
4 /DBP/MgCl2 + TEA/cyclohexylmethyldimethoxysilane catalyst system is studied. It is shown that the variation of the propylene polymerization conditions in the studied ranges leads to a change in the characteristics of the resulting polypropylene. The kinetic parameters of propylene polymerization in the liquid monomer for the studied catalyst system are determined. Polymerization conditions providing the formation of polypropylene with high polymer yield, isotacticity, and bulk density values are found. The process parameters that make it possible to effectively control the molecular and rheological characteristics of polypropylene are identified. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]- Published

30. Superfluid density in disordered pasta phases in neutron star crusts
- Abstract
In the inner crust of neutron stars one expects phases in which nuclei adopt rodlike and platelike forms, so-called pasta phases. For ordered phases, the superfluid density of nucleons is anisotropic and in this paper we calculate the effective superfluid density of disordered pasta phases. We use an effective medium approach which parallels that previously used for calculating the electrical conductivity of terrestrial matter. 32. Superfluid density in disordered pasta phases in neutron star crusts

In the inner crust of neutron stars one expects phases in which nuclei adopt rodlike and platelike forms, so-called pasta phases. 33. Surface modification by high-energy heavy-ion irradiation in various crystalline ZnO facets
- Abstract
Self-assembled surface nanoscale structures on various ZnO facets are excellent templates for the deposition of semiconductor quantum dots and manipulation with surface optical transparency. In this work, we have modified the surface of c-, m- and a-plane ZnO single-crystals by high-energy W-ion irradiation with an energy of 27 MeV to observe the aspects of surface morphology on the optical properties. We kept ion fluences in the range from 5 x 10(9) cm(-2) to 5 x 10(11) cm(-2) using the mode of single-ion implantation and the overlapping impact mode to see the effect of various regimes on surface modification. Rutherford backscattering spectroscopy in the channeling mode (RBS-C) and Raman spectroscopy have identified a slightly growing Zn-sublattice disorder in the irradiated samples with a more significant enhancement for the highest irradiation fluence. Simultaneously, the strong suppression of the main Raman modes and the propagation of the modes corresponding to polar Zn-O vibrations indicate disorder mainly in the O-sublattice in non-polar facets. The surface morphology, analysed by atomic force microscopy (AFM), shows significant changes after ion irradiation. The c- and a-plane ZnO exhibit the formation of small grains on the surface. The m-plane ZnO forms a sponge-like surface for lower fluences and grains for the highest fluence. The surface roughness itself increases with the irradiation fluence as shown by AFM measurement as well as spectroscopic ellipsometry (SE) analysis. The damage caused by high-energy irradiation leads to non-radiative processes and suppression of the near-band-edge peak as well as the deep-level emission peak in the photoluminescence spectra. Furthermore, the refraction index n and the extinction coefficient k of irradiated samples, determined by SE, have features corresponding to the particular exciton states blurred and are slightly lower in the optical bandgap region especially for the polar c-plane ZnO facet., Samostatně sestavené povrchové nanostruktury na různých ZnO fasetách jsou vynikající šablony pro depozici polovodičových kvantových teček a manipulaci s povrchovou optickou transparentností. V této práci jsme upravili povrch c-, m- a a-rovinných monokrystalů ZnO vysokoenergetickým W-iontovým ozářením s energií 27 MeV, abychom sledovali aspekty povrchové morfologie na optických vlastnostech. Udržovali jsme fluence iontů v rozsahu od 5 x 10(9) cm(-2) do 5 x 10(11) cm(-2) pomocí režimu jednoiontové implantace a režimu překrývajícího se nárazu, abychom viděli účinek různých režimy povrchových úprav. Rutherfordova spektroskopie zpětného rozptylu v kanálovém módu (RBS-C) a Ramanova spektroskopie identifikovaly mírně rostoucí poruchu podmřížky Zn v ozařovaných vzorcích s výraznějším zesílením pro nejvyšší fluence ozáření. Současně silné potlačení hlavních Ramanových módů a šíření módů odpovídajících polárním Zn-O vibracím svědčí o nepořádku především v O-podmřížce u nepolárních faset.

34. Optical characterization of inhomogeneous thin films with randomly rough boundaries
- Abstract
An inhomogeneous polymer-like thin film was deposited by the plasma enhanced chemical vapor deposition onto silicon single-crystal substrate whose surface was roughened by anodic oxidation. The inhomogeneous thin film with randomly rough boundaries was created as a result. This sample was studied using the variable-angle spectroscopic ellipsometry and spectroscopic reflectometry. The structural model including the inhomogeneous thin film, transition layer, and identically rough boundaries was used to process the experimental data. The scalar diffraction theory was used to describe the influence of roughness. The influence of the scattered light registered by the spectrophotometer due to its finite acceptance angle was also taken into account. The thicknesses and optical constants of the inhomogeneous thin film and the transition layer were determined in the optical characterization together with the roughness parameters. The determined rms value of the heights of roughness was found to be in good agreement with values obtained using AFM. The results of the optical characterization of the studied inhomogeneous thin film with rough boundaries were also verified by comparing them with the results of the optical characterization of the inhomogeneous thin film prepared using the same deposition conditions but onto the substrate with a smooth surface. Hydroxypyridones (HOPOs) are an important class of chelating compounds. They bind strongly to hard metal ions such as Fe(III). Here we present the solid-phase synthesis of peptides containing 1,2-HOPO moieties linked through a carboxylic acid placed at position 4 of the ring. A total of four ligands were studied, two bidentate and two hexadentate. The latter were synthesized by both stepwise and convergent strategies. The ligands and their complexes were characterized from the physico-chemical perspective. The pKa values for all ligands showed their total deprotonation at pH lower than the physiological pH. The formation constant of the Fe(III) complex (log β) ranged from 23.66, corresponding to ligand A, to 27.63, corresponding to ligand C. The pFe3+ at pH=7.4 revealed that ligands B and C had a strong iron affinity (26.91 and 28.58, respectively), thereby making them suitable for further study in therapeutic applications., The work was funded in part by the following: the National Research Foundation (NRF) (# 105892 and Blue Sky's Research Programme # 120386) and the University of KwaZulu-Natal (South Africa); and the Spanish Ministry of Science, Innovation, and Universities (RTI2018-093831-B-100), the Generalitat de Catalunya (2017 SGR 1439) (Spain), and Marató TV3 Foundation 2018 (#20183530). The solubility and dissolution rates of chemical compounds are crucial properties in several fields of industry and research. However, accurate, rapid and green methods for their measurement, which only consume micrograms of compound, are lacking. Here, the unique approach of non-specific, image-based single particle analysis (SPA) for solubility testing is directly compared to and thus validated on the mid-solubility range with the current gold standard shake-flask method with UV-Vis spectroscopy employed for determining sample concentrations. Five biologically active compounds representing a range of physicochemical properties including pK(a) and logP were analyzed with both methods. The comparison of SPA and the shake-flask (SF) analysis shows excellent linear correlation (R-2 = 0.99). Higher variability of the SPA method is attributed to variability between the properties of individual particles, which cannot be detected with traditional methods. Due to the similar average solubility values compared to those produced with SF, it is concluded that the SPA method has great potential as an analytical tool for small-scale solubility studies. It also has several practical advantages over the current gold standard shake-flask method, such as speed, low consumables consumption, and no requirement for prior knowledge of compound chemistry.

We report thorough measurements of surface plasmon polaritons (SPPs) running along nearly perfect air-gold interfaces formed by atomically flat surfaces of chemically synthesized gold monocrystals. By means of amplitude-and phase-resolved near-field microscopy, we obtain their propagation length and effective mode index at visible wavelengths (532, 594, 632.8, 729, and 800 nm). The measured values are compared with the values obtained from the dielectric functions of gold that are reported in literature. Importantly, a reported dielectric function of monocrystalline gold implies similar to 1.5 times shorter propagation lengths than those observed in our experiments, whereas a dielectric function reported for properly fabricated polycrystalline gold leads to SPP propagation lengths matching our results. We argue that the SPP propagation lengths measured in our experiments signify the ultimate limit of optical losses in gold, encouraging further comprehensive characterization of optical material properties of pure gold as well as other plasmonic materials.

The present study aims to analyze the current state of evolution of Romanian administrative law. Although the title presents itself as an interrogation, we do not want- it would be a naivety if we do- to give answers. The study focuses mainly on the following aspects: false modernity of administrative law; the "attacks" from other branches; conserving constants and defining traditional elements; the effect of Europeanisation. This paper drafts a suggestion for the text of Resolution concerning the revised SI that has to be approved by CGPM in 2018, and compares its rational with the one spelled out in the CCU 2016b Draft of the 9 th SI Brochure, in the light of the original intention of the revision proposal (to use only constants of physics in the SI definition) and of four basic principles that a modern system of units should follow: to be constant in time and space; to be organised in a rational system; to be easy to realise with high precision; to be accessible to everybody. The poor permeability of theranostic agents across the blood-brain barrier (BBB) significantly hampers the development of new treatment modalities for neurological diseases. A new biomimetic nanocarrier is discovered using heparin (HP) that effectively passes the BBB and targets glioblastoma. Specifically, HP-coated gold nanoparticles (HP-AuNPs) are designed that are labeled with three different imaging modalities namely, fluorescein (FITC-HP-AuNP), radioisotope (68)Gallium (Ga-68-HP-AuNPs), and MRI active gadolinium (Gd-HP-AuNPs). The systemic infusion of FITC-HP-AuNPs in three different mouse strains (C57BL/6JRj, FVB, and NMRI-nude) displays excellent penetration and reveals uniform distribution of fluorescent particles in the brain parenchyma (69-86%) with some accumulation in neurons (8-18%) and microglia (4-10%). Tail-vein administration of radiolabeled Ga-68-HP-AuNPs in healthy rats also show Ga-68-HP-AuNP inside the brain parenchyma and in areas containing cerebrospinal fluid, such as the lateral ventricles, the cerebellum, and brain stem. Finally, tail-vein administration of Gd-HP-AuNPs (that displays approximate to threefold higher relaxivity than that of commercial Gd-DTPA) in an orthotopic glioblastoma (U87MG xenograft) model in nude mice demonstrates enrichment of T1-contrast at the intracranial tumor with a gradual increase in the contrast in the tumor region between 1 and 3 h. It is believed, the finding offers the untapped potential of HP-derived-NPs to deliver cargo molecules for treating neurological disorders.

Purpose: In this master's thesis, a validation of different lens constant optimization strategies is performed using five different calculation formulas for two data sets. The goal of this retrospective data evaluation is to present a methodology for optimization of lens specific constants that can be used for any fully disclosed IOL calculation formula and is capable of minimizing any statistical measure of any target parameter. Biometry and keratometry were performed using IOLMaster700. Material und Methods: In this retrospective study, optimization strategies are applied to different metrics using two data sets as an example to further explain the significance of constant optimization results. Pre- and postoperative data were collected and analyzed of those patients, who had first and uneventful cataract surgery with implantation of a posterior chamber intraocular lens at the Clinic for Ophthalmology and Optometry at the Kepler University Hospital Linz. Prediction errors were retrospectively calculated an optimized on preoperative collected data extracted from the IOLMaster700 (Carl Zeiss, Meditec AG) the Haigis, Holladay I, Hoffer Q, SRK/T and Castrop formula. The prediction errors were compared using established methods of presentation. Results: A total of 151 eyes from 93 patients were included in the study. Two different techniques for lens constant optimization were demonstrated. The applicability of these optimization strategies was demonstrated for the SRK/T, Holladay I, Hoffer Q, Haigis, and Castrop formulas on two clinical data sets. The root mean squared, mean and median absolute prediction error, and mean and median refractive prediction error were minimized by the optimizations, but no significant differences were found when comparing the strategies with each other. eingereicht von Jacqueline Hehenberger BSc. Recently, R Π Σ ⁎ -extensions have been introduced which extend Karr's Π Σ ⁎ -fields substantially: one can represent expressions not only in terms of transcendental sums and products, but one can work also with products over primitive roots of unity. Since one can solve the parameterized telescoping problem in such rings, covering as special cases the summation paradigms of telescoping and creative telescoping, one obtains a rather flexible toolbox for symbolic summation. This article is the continuation of this work. Inspired by Singer's Galois theory of difference equations we will work out several alternative characterizations of R Π Σ ⁎ -extensions: adjoining naively sums and products leads to an R Π Σ ⁎ -extension iff the obtained difference ring is simple iff the ring can be embedded into the ring of sequences iff the ring can be given by the interlacing of Π Σ ⁎ -extensions. From the viewpoint of applications this leads to a fully automatic machinery to represent indefinite nested sums and products in such R Π Σ ⁎ -rings. In addition, we work out how the parameterized telescoping paradigm can be used to prove algebraic independence of indefinite nested sums. Furthermore, one obtains an alternative reduction tactic to solve the parameterized telescoping problem in basic R Π Σ ⁎ -extensions exploiting the interlacing property. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This paper proposes a denoising method based on the constants obtained from the intrinsic mode functions (IMFs) of the noise. In particular, the model based constant is calculated using the analytical form of both the energy and the mean period of the first IMF of the noise. For practical situations, the corresponding constants are obtained using the sums of logarithms of the real energies and real mean periods of the IMFs of noise. Since the corresponding constants obtained using the practical data of the high order IMFs suffer from large fluctuations, these obtained values are unreliable. To address this issue, the relative percentage errors between the corresponding constants obtained using the practical data and the calculated model based constant are computed only using the second IMF to the sixth IMF. In this case, the corresponding constants obtained using the practical data of the selected IMFs are more reliable and less fluctuated. Next, the upper bound and the lower bound of the corresponding constants obtained using the practical data of the selected IMFs are computed. As no parameter is required to be predefined in the proposed algorithm, the proposed algorithm is more reliable than the existing algorithms. Computer numerical simulation results also show that the proposed algorithm outperforms the existing algorithms. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
