Identifying executives' industry affiliation with categorical membership, this study examines how moving to a different industry impacts mobility-compensation outcomes. On the demand side, we propose that audience ambiguity and commitment concerns regarding cross-category moves limit the potential compensation of industry-changing executives. On the supply side, we argue that executives might accept smaller monetary rewards in exchange for acquiring experience in a new domain. Since category status also affects audience evaluations of candidates and candidates' desire to affiliate with a specific social category, we further hypothesize that both demand and supply mechanisms are moderated by status differences between an executive's origin and destination industries. Our analysis of voluntary mobility and compensation patterns of S&P 1500 executives supports these arguments: industry-changing executives realize lower compensation than closely matched within-industry movers. As expected, the compressing effect of changing industry on compensation is contingent upon status differences across industries. Executives who transition to higher-status industries face more stringent compensation discounts, while those moving to lower-status industries experience similar compensation variation as within-industry movers. Our study advances category and status-attainment research by incorporating the influence of industry prestige on career outcomes of cross-category moves, while casting light on the individual consequences of executive mobility. This research investigates the impact of algorithmic management on worker behaviors, focusing on workers' commitment to service quality and referral tendencies. Drawing upon the job demands‐resources model, we argue that high levels of algorithmic management could create hindrance demands that impede service quality and demotivate referral behaviors. We propose that high workload, as a challenge demand, buffers the negative effects of algorithmic management on worker outcomes. We find support for our proposed research model in an experiment with a sample of 1362 platform‐based food‐delivery riders. We also conduct a qualitative study with 21 riders, which provides a more nuanced understanding of how algorithmic management affects workers' attitudes, behaviors, and referral tendencies. Organizational culture in sports affects well-being, performance, and overall success. Although team culture has been explored within able-bodied teams, little is known about culture development within parasport. Using a descriptive case study approach, our study examined the culture development and experiences of an elite parasport team. Two semistructured individual telephone interviews were conducted with nine participants (athletes and staff), and one athlete-participant completed one interview. An inductive thematic analysis revealed two themes: approach to culture development and team culture components. Culture development was linked with facilitative leadership and important resources. This supported the team to create their shared values and mechanisms, including a behavioral framework, other artifacts (e.g., shared language and team motto), and a relaxed environment. These helped to maintain their agreed culture and benefited their well-being, progress, and team cohesion. Our results offer a starting point regarding research into the culture of elite parasport and have practical implications for managers, coaches, and psychologists. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

When does pay dispersion elicit positive or negative employee attitudes? A review of the pay dispersion literature indicates a controversy around this vital question and suggests that numerous contingency factors moderate the effects of pay dispersion. In an empirical study of four Finnish companies consisting of 141 work units, we examine contingencies in attitudinal reactions to job‐based pay dispersion among blue‐collar workers. Based on archival pay data matched with employee survey responses (n = 536), we find that perceptions of pay basis legitimacy, task interdependence, and an individual's pay standing within the work unit explain the strength and direction of the relation between job‐based pay dispersion and employee attitudes (i.e., work engagement and organizational commitment). Our findings have implications for the design of pay systems and contribute to a better appreciation of the complexities underlying employee attitudinal responses to pay dispersion. Despite the great emphasis organizations and human resource management (HRM) research place on turnover issues, one turnover phenomenon has received only limited attention so far: joint leader–member turnover. This research examines supervisor‐initiated turnover (SIT) (i.e., employees' decision to quit their employer to follow a former supervisor to a new organization) and develops a comprehensive model of the SIT decision process, grounded on conservation of resources (COR) theory, that delineates the resource evaluation, conservation and investment deliberations of employees. We take a relational perspective and particularly focus on the leader–member relationship as an important antecedent of SIT and thereby respond to the call for more critical investigations of leader–member exchange (LMX) and corresponding HRM implications. Our three studies (survey, scenario experiment, and dyadic interview study) demonstrate that LMX positively affects SIT intentions (SITI) and that supervisor commitment represents an important mediating mechanism of the LMX–SITI relationship. Our interview study with 46 leader–member dyads identifies relational factors that promote or hinder SIT beyond the leader–member relationship. Background: Local governments have a critical role to play in addressing health inequities. Health equity impact assessments are recommended to help governments apply an equity lens to the development and implementation of policies and programs. Despite evidence of equity-positive benefits of such tools, adoption remains limited, prompting calls for evaluations to assess their impact and identify factors that will promote uptake across various contexts. Methods: We conducted a mixed method study to evaluate the impact of an equity impact assessment (EIA) tool and process on policies and organisational capacity in a local government in Victoria, Australia, and identify factors that influenced this impact. We analysed 33 documents related to 18 EIAs, and conducted surveys (n = 40) and in-depth interviews (n = 17) with staff involved in EIAs. Results: Almost all (17 of 18) EIAs resulted in equity-positive changes to policies and programs, most frequently addressing individual-level factors, such as making community communications and consultations more accessible to under-represented or under-served groups. Structural-level recommendations from one EIA, such as increasing diversity in decision-making panels, were found to impact both the current policy and a broad range of future, related projects and services. Improvements in equity-centric organisational culture and capacity (including staff awareness, skills and confidence) and increased engagement with under-represented communities were also reported. Factors perceived to influence the impact of EIA's related to organisational commitment and capacity to prioritise equity, process-level factors related to the type and timing of EIAs, and extent of implementation support. Conclusion: Our study supports wider uptake of health equity impact assessments in local government policies and programs. Bioethicists influence practices and policies in medicine, science, and public health. However, little is known about bioethicists' views. We recently surveyed 824 U.S. bioethicists on a wide range of ethical issues, including topics related to abortion, medical aid in dying, and resource allocation, among others. We also asked bioethicists about their demographic, religious, academic, and professional backgrounds. We find that bioethicists' normative commitments predict their views on bioethical issues. We also find that, in important ways, bioethicists' views do not align with those of the U.S. public: for instance, bioethicists are more likely than members of the public to think abortion is ethically permissible but are less likely to believe compensating organ donors is. Our demographic results indicate the field of bioethics is far less diverse than the U.S. population—less diverse even than other academic disciplines—suggesting far more work needs to be done to build an inclusive field. Engaging the public and community organizations in local health actions greatly assists disease prevention and control. However, it remains unclear how organization-public relationships (OPR) and communication networks within communities contribute to community health actions. To fill this gap, a survey was conducted among community members in Shanghai, China, who were challenged by the Omicron wave of the COVID-19 pandemic. Results revealed that integrated connectedness to a storytelling network (ICSN) was a significant predictor of residents' community engagement. Trust, control mutuality, commitment, and ICSN were positively associated with community engagement intentions through the sense of community and organizational efficacy. Drawing from transformational leadership (TFL) theory and research on contextual leadership, we examined a conditional process model of leadership in nursing teams to predict patient loyalty. Using TFL's individualized consideration dimension as a salient facet of the construct in care services, we first posited that nurses' team affective commitment would partially mediate the impact of nurse leadership. We further conceptualized nurse–physician collaboration, organizational formalization and task feedback as discrete contexts that may curb the influence of head nurses' individualized consideration. In a three‐wave, multisource and multilevel study, we surveyed 654 nurses and 1770 patients from 91 hospital units. We found that team‐level head nurses' individualized consideration positively and partially related to patient loyalty through nurses' team commitment and that higher levels of nurse–physician collaboration, organizational formalization and task feedback were associated with reduced influence of individualized consideration on team commitment and patient loyalty. In the era of rapid development in the mobile internet economy, mobile intelligent office equipment has exhibited an unprecedented level of "vitality." The boundaries between work and family are becoming increasingly blurred, fostering the exchange of resources between employees' work role and family role. Workplace spirituality refers to meaningful work, sense of community, and alignment with the organization that individuals develop in their work, which has been demonstrated to have positive impact on work output. It is a question whether workplace spirituality can be spilled over from employees' work role to their family role to improve the performance of the latter and to realize the win‐win results for both roles. Based on work–home resources model and work–family enrichment dual‐path model, this research uses multi‐country data to examine how workplace spirituality influence work–family enrichment through affective rumination (affective path) and problem‐solving pondering (instrumental path). Additionally, work–family segmentation preference is introduced as a moderating variable to identify the boundary conditions between workplace spirituality and work‐related rumination. Research findings show that workplace spirituality can positively predict work–family enrichment; affective rumination and problem‐solving pondering play a partially mediating role in the correlation between workplace spirituality and work–family enrichment. A strong work–family segmentation preference could diminish the positive impact of workplace spirituality on problem‐solving pondering and could also weaken the mediating role of problem‐solving pondering between workplace spirituality and work–family enrichment at the same time. Introduction: The growth of surgeon burnout is of significant concern. As we work to reimagine the practice of surgery, an accurate understanding of the extent of surgeon burnout is essential. Our goal was to define the current prevalence of burnout and quality of life (QOL) among SAGES surgeons. Methodology: An electronic survey was administered to SAGES members to establish a current baseline for QOL, burnout, depression, and career satisfaction. To assess outcomes, we utilized the validated Maslach Burnout Inventory for Medical Personnel, the Medical Outcomes Study Short Form, and the Primary Care Evaluation of Mental Disorders. All scoring followed validated norm-based methods. Results: Of 4194 active members, 604 responded (14.40%). 69% met burnout threshold, with high levels of emotional exhaustion and depersonalization, and low personal accomplishment. 81% reported "being at the end of their rope", 74% felt emotionally drained, and 65% felt used up daily. Nearly all maintained caring about what happened to their patients (96%), easily understanding how their patients feel (84.3%) and being capable of dealing effectively with their patient's problems (87.6%). However, respondents never, rarely, or occasionally felt energetic (77.5%) or experienced a sense of professional accomplishment (57.8%). The overall QOL score was 69/100, with lower Mental than Physical scores (62.69 (SD 10.20) vs.77.27 (SD 22.24)). More than half of respondents met depression criteria. While 77% supported they would become a physician again, less than half would choose surgery again or recommend surgery to their children. Furthermore, less than a third felt work allowed sufficient time for their personal lives. Conclusions: Participating SAGES surgeons reported alarmingly high rates of burnout and depression. Despite experiencing emotional exhaustion and depersonalization, they maintained a strong commitment to patient care. The raison d'être for psychotherapy1 is to address individual suffering and distress. The sustainable development goals address suffering and distress on a global scale in the context of threats to the survival of our communities and planet. Objective: We propose scaling up therapeutic principles for collective impact and nurturing therapist commitment beyond the therapy room, to activate and sustain compassion‐in‐action at the community system level. Design: The SDGs represent the strength of collective human concern and action coming together. At the half‐way point, we are falling dangerously short of our targets, requiring an urgent response. The tenet of this paper is that the weakest link in our journey is not technical capability or finances, or even the impact of multiple intersecting crises, but our ability to collaborate for sustained action—it is the human factor—hence, we need a psychologically informed response. Method: Notably, least 'visible' is SDG17, the umbrella goal designated means of implementation, through partnership. Partnership has been treated as a transactional element of SDG projects, rather than the vital heartbeat connecting daily actions to the 2030 vision. Partnership is about investing in relationships and a commitment to working together with a common purpose—the bailiwick of psychological therapists. Results: We propose an architecture to support the development of courageous partnerships and compassionate systems. Conclusion: Compassion uniquely potentiates global action on wicked problems. Background: Ethical conflict is embedded in healthcare and is common in critical care setting. However, there is a paucity of research on the nature of ethical conflict in China. Ethical conflict has cultural and context sensitivity. Therefore, evidence is needed from different backgrounds to help discuss this issue across borders. Aim: This study aimed to qualitatively identify the experience of ethical conflict in critical care professionals in China. Study design: From December 2021 to February 2022, we performed semi‐structured, face‐to‐face interviews with 21 critical care professionals from five intensive care units in a tertiary general hospital in China. A thematic analysis approach was used to analyse the data. Results: Five themes and 14 sub‐themes emerged from the data. Critical care professionals probably felt unable to navigate uncertainty, torn by family issues, outraged by unprofessional behaviours of medical staff, being trapped in a socioeconomic dilemma when having experience of ethical conflict. In addition, they also perceived that they could turn struggle into growth. Conclusions: The experience of ethical conflict in critical care professionals involved a mixture of feelings. This study builds a comprehensive understanding of how ethical conflict affected their perceptions of themselves and their profession and provides implications to develop effective coping strategies. Relevance to Clinical Practice: The identification of critical care professionals' experience of ethical conflict would help identify what might trigger the ethical issues and what would be the potential target to optimize in critical practice. BACKGROUND The change from a clinical nurse specialist to nurse practitioner model has significantly affected graduate education and practice because of emphasis on the dominant biomedical prescriber role, marginalizing the nurse-psychotherapy and consultation-liaison roles fundamental to quality psychiatric advanced practice nursing practice. AIM/METHOD We report on a four-year Workforce Development Project supported by an academic-practice partnership to restore formation and skill building of the marginalized roles. Part One focuses on program design, the curriculum for nine specialty courses, and the teaching and learning community approach that promotes engagement, faculty commitment, and preceptor recruitment and retention; the creative faculty staffing model is described. RESULTS The educational frame described includes highlights of teaching/learning strategies drawn from the history of professional formation curriculum rooted in salutogenesis and belonging science, existentialism, solution-focused therapy, modeling and role modeling theory, and Peplau’s Interpersonal Relations. Participatory approaches are important to ensuring that the involvement of children in decision‐making is normalised in service provision. Participation work requires that professionals have well‐developed engagement skills, and a commitment to the right of the child or young person to participate. Effective participatory approaches also require that organisations provide active support for child‐centred practice. The Reconceptualising Services from the Perspectives of Experienced Children and Teens (ReSPECT) approach is an Australian professional development (PD) program that addresses these key aspects of participation work. It offers professionals a way to:(1) increase their awareness of the complex issues, challenges and benefits surrounding participation; and (2) develop a sense of empowerment and competence in the 'doing' of participation work. The PD program encourages professionals to understand their own position in relation to participation work with children, develop bespoke strategies that account for their unique practice context and assemble support structures that can maintain their participation strategies beyond the training. The principles and practices of the ReSPECT PD program are outlined and positioned within the existing literature on theoretical and practice approaches. The paper contributes to critical debate on the mechanisms that can lead to changes in professional practice and organisational culture, for the meaningful engagement of children as stakeholders in decision‐making. Background: This study explores the perceptions of supported accommodation staff and their managers of the support needs of residents ageing with intellectual disabilities, and their experiences of adjusting services for this group in the context of individualised funding. Method: Qualitative interviews were conducted with 21 staff working in Australian supported accommodation services. Findings: Four themes emerged. The first captured the staff's limited understanding of ageing and the medicalisation of support needs. The second identified staff practices and adjustments to service provision to facilitate residents' healthy ageing. The third described staff commitment to facilitating ageing residents to age in place, and the fourth identified staff challenges and opportunities in supporting ageing residents in the context of the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS). Conclusions: Findings may inform the development of practice guidelines and training for supported accommodation staff, protocols for intersections between disability, aged care and health sectors, and adequate policy responses to support older residents' healthy ageing. Aims: Cardiac dysfunction in patients with diabetes, referred to as diabetic cardiomyopathy, is primarily precipitated by dysregulations in glucose and lipid metabolism. Diet and lifestyle changes are considered crucial for successful heart failure and diabetes management and are often difficult to achieve. Low-carbohydrate diets (LCDs) have gained popularity for the management of metabolic diseases. Although quantitative research in this field is evolving, little is known about the personal experience of patients with diabetic cardiomyopathy on specific diets. The aim of this qualitative study was to identify enablers and barriers of patients with diabetic cardiomyopathy who engage in an LCD. It further explored patients' perception of dietary education and dietary support received while in hospital. Methods and Results: Participantswho previously consented to a 16-week LCD trialwere invited to share their experiences. Nine patients agreed to be interviewed. Semistructured interviews and a focus group interview were conducted,which were transcribed verbatim. Data were analyzed by using the 6-step approach for thematic analysis. Four themes were identified: (1) nutrition literacy (2) disease-related health benefits, (3) balancing commitments, and (4) availability of resources and support. Conclusion: Improvements in disease-related symptoms acted as strong enablers to engage in an LCD. Barriers such as access to resources and time constraints were identified. These challenges may be overcome with efficient communication and ongoing dietary support. More research exploring the experience of patients with diabetic cardiomyopathy on an LCD are warranted. Background: Health care professionals (HCPs) historically exhibit high rates of stress, burnout, and low rates of service utilization from Employee Assistance Programs (EAPs) and Professional Health Programs (PHPs). New and magnified stressors that accompanied COVID-19 exacerbated HCPs' risk of burnout. Purpose: During the pandemic, this study examined Ohio HCP's utilization of EAPs and PHPs, knowledge of available services, barriers to accessing services, and likelihood of future service utilization. Conditions needing to change to increase likelihood of future utilization were also explored. Methods: A one-time survey was administered in July and August of 2021 to HCPs from 13 licensing boards in Ohio. This study used a subset of data to examine the extent of convergence between quantitative results—analyzed using frequency calculations—and results from thematic analysis of corresponding open-ended survey items. Qualitative results supported and elaborated the quantitative findings. Results: Fewer than 25% of respondents (N = 12,807) utilized EAPs or PHPs to address mental health concerns. Obstacles impeding service utilization included issues around awareness, time commitment, and confidentiality—a concern encompassing issues of stigma and fear of employment repercussions. Noting multiple obstacles to accessing EAPs and PHPs, HCPs in Ohio reported low rates of support service utilization and low likeliness to use services in the future despite their experiences of extreme stress and burnout. Conclusions: Addressing the time commitment and confidentiality concerns could increase the likelihood of accessing services. Employers of HCPs should explore additional support mechanisms such as comprehensive wellness programs and innovative, brief intervention strategies to combat burnout, especially during viral outbreaks and other high-stress events. Introduction: This Practice Update discusses the potential for implementation of the 4M model for care of older adults in Israel, to complement the medical-centric model that exists today. The older adult population in Israel is increasing. However, efficient and sufficient care that takes patient's wishes into consideration is lacking. Purpose: Care of older adults, particularly palliative patients, is complex and requires multidisciplinary efforts. There are numerous challenges to caring for older adults. These include fragmentation of care, unclear boundaries between palliative and geriatric care, and the preservation of patient autonomy, indicating a need to adopt new care frameworks. Conclusion: The authors suggest implementing the 4M model as a new care framework in addition to the current medical-centric model. This framework considers important care aspects during discussions of care: what matters to the patient, medication, mentation, and mobility. Background: To address the declining numbers of general practitioners (GPs) in rural areas and a lack of medical students pursuing a career in primary care, a general practice-based curriculum coupled with additional university admissions for students has been established at three universities in Hesse, Germany. This study aims to analyze potential topics which students striving to become a GP will benefit from. Teaching such topics will prepare them for their chosen career and working in rural areas. We aimed to explore the views of both specialists and GPs on chief topics and necessary skills in primary care. Methods: In our study we used semi-structured interviews with outpatient specialists and specialists in clinical practice and semi-structured group interviews with GPs in training. The topic guide addressed contents of the curriculum for medical students with an extracurricular focus (addressing additional topics) on primary care. Data analysis was carried out using qualitative content analysis according to Mayring. Results: GPs in training and specialists agreed on the importance of knowledge in the fields of medical history, physical examination, communication as well as common diseases in primary care. Essential competences mentioned were: inducing medical treatment, decision-making and triage, conducting structured conversations, having patient knowledge (hard skills) as well as an interest in continuous learning, empathy, personal commitment, listening and down-to-earthness (soft skills). Case reports, symptom-based learning, practical training, lessons with simulated patients and the integration of role models were regarded as useful teaching methods. Conclusions: General practice-based curriculums should not only focus on the transfer of knowledge. Equally important is the training of soft and hard skills to prepare future GPs for their work in primary care. The article describes the five evidence-based steps to use in structuring a personal diversity statement. These steps include preparing an introduction that goes beyond demonstrating one's definitional knowledge of diversity, equity, inclusion, and access (DEIA), stating DEIA academic or healthcare-related teaching contributions, and stating service-related contributions to advance DEIA.

Background and objective: The primary objective of the nursing profession is to provide comprehensive and appropriate nursing care that meets the individual needs of patients. However, instances of missed/rationed nursing care can jeopardize the delivery of complete and safe healthcare, potentially putting patients' lives at risk. The level of organizational commitment demonstrated by nurses is likely to impact various personnel and organizational factors. Therefore, this study aims to predict instances of missed/rationed nursing care by examining the influence of organizational commitment. Method: This descriptive and cross-sectional study will be conducted in 2023. Three hundred nurses working in general and intensive critical care units at Tehran University of Medical Sciences hospitals were randomly selected. Data collection included Allen and Mayer's organizational commitment questionnaires, Kalish's missed care questionnaire, and demographic variables. A multiple linear regression model was used to analyze the prediction of missed care by commitment and other variables. The relationship between these variables was also explored using SPSS version 26 software. Findings: Half of the nurses reported occasionally missing nursing care. Moreover, more than half of the nurses reported moderate organizational commitment in all dimensions. The most significant reasons identified by nurses for missed care were financial resources, human resources, and communication (p < 0.001). There was a significant relationship between missed/rationed nursing care and organizational commitment (p = 0.042). In the multiple regression equation, a significant portion of missed care due to commitment was predicted when considering demographic variables (p < 0.001). Conclusion: By understanding the relationship between organizational commitment and missed care, and identifying the factors contributing to missed/rationed care, managers can improve the efficiency of human resources and allocate appropriate financial resources. Background & aims: Missed nursing care is a global challenge that can have many consequences and it's known as a common threat to the patient safety and quality of nursing care. The nurses' professional commitment plays the final role in the occurrence of this issue. This study aimed to investigate the relationship between nurses' professional commitment and missed nursing care in Iran. Materials & methods: This cross-sectional descriptive-analytical study was conducted on 270 nurses working in two hospitals affiliated to Tehran University of Medical Sciences (Sina & Shariati) from September to December 2023. The research community included all nurses working in medical-surgical wards in the designated hospitals. The research samples were included in a targeted and quota method after obtaining organizational permits, ethical approval and informed consent. Data collection was done using three questionnaires including demographic information form, Nursing Professional Commitment Scale, and MISSCARE Questionnaire. The collected data was analyzed in SPSS software, version 25. Results: The results of Pearson's correlation test showed that there is a significant negative relationship between nurses' professional commitment and missed nursing care scores (r=-0.23) (p < 0.001). The mean score of nurses' professional commitment was reported at a moderate to high level (83.72 ± 16.02) and the mean score of missed nursing care was reported at a low level (47.84 ± 16.48). Nurses over 40 years old, morning shift and employed nurses showed higher professional commitment. Also, nurses under 29 years old and male nurses had more missed nursing care other than their participants. No relationship was observed between other demographic variables with nurses' professional commitment and missed nursing care. Conclusion: The results of this study showed that higher nurses' professional commitment leads to higher quality of care and less missed nursing care. Based on findings of this research, it is recommended for health care providers and nursing managers to adopt programs to increase nurses' professional commitment and consequently reduce missed nursing care. Background: Respectful maternity care (RMC) emphasizes the social and relational elements of maternity care and is a crucial part of initiatives to improve service accessibility and quality. Women's perceptions have influenced much of what we know about RMC and contempt in the labor ward. In order to understand midwives' perspectives of RMC, this meta-synthesis focused on them. Method: For this inquiry, the databases PubMed/Medline, Embase, Web of Science, and Scopus were searched to find studies on midwives' perceptions of RMC written between 2011 and April 20th 2023. The included articles were to English language restriction. The results of the included research were examined using thematic analysis. Using the inclusion criteria, 84 potentially relevant articles were carefully reviewed, and only 22 were ultimately selected for synthesis. The quality of the qualitative study was assessed using the CASP, a tool for quality evaluation and PRISMA guidelines were followed. Using the MAXQDA program, the cited quotes and the original authors' interpretations were combined. Result: There were 22 studies total, thematic synthesis was determined to be appropriate for a total of 22 research studies. Following are the topics which we summarized our analysis: in six major themes: Midwives' conceptualizations of RMC, Midwives commitment to woman's rights, The value and impact of RMC to midwives, Midwife's perception of disrespectful care, Challenges in providing respectful maternity care, and Midwives' recommendations for optimal RMC practice. The public child welfare system is plagued with high turnover, which is consistently associated with job-related stress. However, the COVID-19 pandemic introduced challenges that impact both the work and caseworkers' decision to stay in their job. To better understand stressors and intention to stay amid the COVID-19 pandemic, one state-level agency implemented a survey, completed by forty-eight percent of public child welfare caseworkers in the state. The current analysis employs multinomial logistic regression to predict intention to stay in the job and in the field and narrative analysis to describe caseworker experiences. Expanding on prior research, findings suggest that caseworker perception of an organization's response to COVID-19 challenges is associated with a caseworker's intent to leave. Further, this study highlights the distinction in commitment to the field compared to commitment to one's job, introduces challenges associated with work during the COVID-19 pandemic, and describes worker-identified benefits of those work changes. The Validation Method (VM) is a specific communication method for older people with dementia. The aim of this study was to analyze the effect of an introductory training course on the Bases of the Validation Method (BVM) on job satisfaction and motivation in healthcare professionals working in nursing homes (NHs) and its influence on self-efficacy, perceived personal competence, organizational commitment, attitudes toward dementia and burnout. A quasi-experimental pilot study was conducted during the COVID-19 pandemic (September 2020–February 2021). Participants were divided into two groups: experimental group (who did 16 hours of training on BVM), and a control group (no intervention). Assessments were made at baseline, one week and 4 months after starting the intervention through validated questionnaires to assess job satisfaction, work motivation, self-efficacy, perceived competence, organizational commitment, attitudes toward people with dementia and burnout. A paired Student's t-test was used to check intragroup differences, and unpaired Student's test and multilevel mixed-effects linear regression model were used to assess the impact of the intervention; Hedges'g was used to determine the effect size. The sample consisted of 31 NH professionals, assigned to an experimental group (n = 11) or a control group (n = 20). The BVM training had a positive moderate effect size on job satisfaction, work motivation, self-efficacy, perceived competence and organizational commitment (Hedges'g > 0.30). In contrast, there was a smaller effect on attitudes toward people with dementia (Hedges'g = –0.21), and a moderate negative effect on burnout (Hedges'g = –0.38). I started my journey as a nutrition scholar in 1974 when I began PhD studies at Cornell University. My journey has been rich with opportunity. I engaged in research on diet-related risks for cardiovascular diseases, diabetes, and cancer, partly motivated by my strong commitment to addressing health disparities affecting Black Americans. Obesity became my major focus and would eventually involve both US and global lenses. This focus was also linked to other dietary intake issues and health disparities and drew on knowledge I had gained in my prior study and practice of social work. I positioned myself as a bridge builder across nutrition, epidemiology, and public health, advocating for certain new ways of thinking and acting in these spheres and in the academy itself. This research provides a conceptual replication and theoretical extension of the mutual cyclical growth model. This model proposes that dependence promotes relationship commitment, which promotes pro-relationship behavior, which—when detected by partners—promotes partners' trust, which promotes partners' willingness to depend on the relationship. Prior research supports these links on a month-to-month basis, but romantic partners' thoughts, feelings, and behaviors may change on a day-to-day basis. The present research sought to replicate the model on a daily level, and to extend the model with an important potential moderator: individuals' attachment orientations. Results from a dyadic daily-report study of romantic couples replicated the links in the mutual cyclical growth model at the level of day-to-day fluctuations in partners' experiences; the links were especially strong for individuals high in attachment anxiety. Introduction: Scientific evidence indicates that the community-based rehabilitation (CBR) model is recommended for recovery from mental disorders. However, this approach encounters barriers and often lacks implementation strategies. Aim: The aim of this study was to create a strategy for the implementation of CBR for mental health in Colombia through the identification of barriers and facilitators, together with the expected outcomes, from the perspective of mental health decision-makers in Colombia. Methods: This study adopts a qualitative descriptive approach, using focus group data collection methods and thematic analysis to code and analyze the data. Results: A total of 208 individuals participated in the study, including mental health decision-makers and health care professionals. Intersectoral collaboration, contextualization, financial resources, and community commitment and autonomy were identified as barriers and facilitators. The element that was considered a priority for successful implementation was the contextualization of strategies. This study aimed to identify factors for successful cross-sector collaboration with faith-based responses to the opioid epidemic in southern Appalachia. In-depth interviews were conducted with representatives from organizations responding to the opioid epidemic (N = 25) and persons who have experienced opioid dependency (N = 11). Stakeholders perceived that collaboration is hindered by stigma, poor communication, and conflicting medical and spiritual approaches to opioid dependency. Collaborations are facilitated by cultivating compassion and trust, sharing information along relational lines, and discerning shared commitments while respecting different approaches. This scoping review aimed to identify manualised programs and practice suggestions to support children's health literacy, behaviors and emotions after a parental acquired brain injury. A systematic search of five scientific databases (PsychINFO, MEDLINE, ProQuest, Scopus, Cochrane) and gray literature occurred. Inclusion criteria included: studies and gray literature published 1989 to 2023, in English, child populations with relationship to parental acquired brain injury, identifying manualised programs or practice suggestions via content analysis approach. No data were collected from human participants. All included studies, where relevant, demonstrated consent and/or ethical processes. Sixteen relevant studies and three gray literature resources (n = 19) were identified, including two studies that detailed manualised programs, and fifteen studies and two resource packs that included practice suggestions. Five common domains within practice suggestions were identified: systemic commitment (n = 17); family-centered approaches (n = 16); child-centered practices (n = 15); structured programs (n = 9); and peer support (n = 8). More rigorous evaluation is required to test the potential benefits of manualised programs and practice suggestions. A systemic commitment at clinical and organizational levels to provide child and family-centered practices, structured programs, and access to peer support, early and throughout adult-health care settings, may help to meet the support needs of children. Racism has been woven into the fabric of American life for centuries, and social work practice is not immune to its pernicious effects. Recently, the field has acknowledged the need for White clinicians to become more culturally competent, leading to anti-racism training that attempts to address and acknowledge privilege and biases that interfere with providing ethical and just services. This paper examines reactions to anti-racism training in multi-racial group settings, identifies the absence of trauma-informed practices in such trainings, and proposes separate anti-racism training for different racial groups incorporating expressive art and journaling as an effective method to educate White clinicians. The importance of environmental issues leads the managers of organizations to implement green policies. Besides having environmental benefits and fulfilling the organization's social responsibilities, implementing these policies will also have internal benefits that encourage managers to review internal organizational structures and identify the factors that affect them. This study examines how the green culture of the organization is one of the critical structures within the organization on the level of employee commitment through the mediation of the green identity of the organization. In this study, the analysis of standard questions of research variables in the statistical population, i.e. the staff of industrial estates in Isfahan province, has been used. The approach used in this research is structural equational modeling with the partial least squares method, done and analyzed by SmartPLSsoftware. The results show that green organizational culture directly affects organizational commitment. In addition, green organizational culture through green organizational identity as a mediating variable affects organizational commitment, and thus the mediating role of green organizational identity is strongly confirmed. The responsibility of organizations to protect the environment can be considered a factor in increasing organizational commitment and thus lead to further promotion and success of the organization. Therefore, organizations can create policies to implement green culture in addition to green identity in the organization can increase employee commitment to the organization, which is an essential result of this research. Background: Advanced Nurse Practitioners (ANPs) are highly skilled health care professionals with the potential to play a major role in improving the quality and accessibility of health care services. However, there is emerging evidence of disquiet among nurse practitioners who often work in suboptimal work environments. Therefore, it is important to understand the elements that contribute to ANPs' job satisfaction and retention in healthcare services. Aim: To examine the effects of commitment to the workplace, work engagement, and influence at work on job satisfaction and intention to leave of ANPs. Methods: A total of 153 ANP's on the advanced practice section of the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland register completed a web survey between July and August 2020. Independent variables (commitment to the workplace, work engagement, and influence at work) were measured using the Copenhagen Psychosocial Questionnaire (COPSOQ). Multivariable logistic regression models were used to investigate the association between dependent and independent variables. Results: Participants who reported higher levels of influence at work and higher levels of commitment to the workplace were also satisfied in their job (OR 1.05, 95% CI 1.01-1.09, p = 0.025), (OR 1.10, 95% CI 1.06–1.14, p < 0.001) respectively. Additionally, ANPs with higher levels of commitment to work were significantly less likely to leave their role (OR 0.94, 95% CI.92–.96, p < 0.001). Conclusion: Healthcare organisations can improve job satisfaction and decrease intention to leave by creating environments in which ANPs are supported by their colleagues and supervisors, and facilitate their practice to the full extent of their capabilities. Background: With the growing integration of technology in education, the adoption of blended learning (b‐learning) has gained attention. B‐learning combines traditional classroom teaching with online components, holding potential to enhance student outcomes and educational efficiency. Yet, current research predominantly concentrates on higher education institutions in urban areas, creating a void in understanding its impact on K‐12 education, particularly in rural settings. Objectives: This qualitative study aims to propose recommendations for successful implementation of blended learning in rural K‐12 areas by addressing the key stakeholders influencing its adoption and identifying the main factors affecting its success. Methods: We performed a content analysis of grey literature documents detailing the implementation of b‐learning in K‐12 education. Additionally, interviews with crucial stakeholders such as teachers, principals, and experts in rural schools in South America provide insights into the challenges and prospects of b‐learning adoption in these contexts. Results and Conclusions: The study identifies pivotal stakeholders for effective b‐learning implementation, outlining their roles and addressing challenges inherent in rural settings. Recommendations for enhancing b‐learning's implementation in developing countries are also proposed. This weekly diary study investigated associations of weekly dyadic coping strategies with caregivers' willingness to care and burden. Multilevel modelling was applied to assess between- and within-person associations for 24 consecutive weeks in 955 caregivers. Greater willingness to care was reported in weeks when caregivers used more collaborative (b = 0.26, p < 0.001) and supportive (b = 0.30, p < 0.001) strategies, whereas uninvolved coping was associated with lower willingness to care (b = −0.44, p < 0.001). Using collaborative coping strategies was associated with lower weekly burden (b = −0.13, p < 0.001). A greater burden was reported in weeks when caregivers used more uninvolved (b = 0.19, p < 0.001) and controlling (b = 0.13, p < 0.001) coping strategies. A full understanding of whether caregivers' willingness to care and burden may be improved owing to weekly dyadic coping is essential for developing timely support for caregivers. Clinical psychological science is long overdue to incorporate antiracism and social justice as core principles. To evaluate the current state of clinical science training programs' public-facing statements on antiracism and diversity, equity, inclusion, and justice (ADEIJ), we formed a workgroup under the guidance of the Academy of Psychological Clinical Science (APCS) Task Force to Center Racial and Social Justice in Clinical Science. Our workgroup evaluated the public-facing web materials of 78 APCS doctoral and internship programs. Following existing frameworks that have conceptualized the development of multicultural organizations, we evaluated the degree to which materials mentioned inclusivity, acknowledged inequities, and reported planned and enacted actions to promote ADEIJ. We examined rationales for engaging in this work, differentiating between moral and instrumental rationales. Results showed not all programs had ADEIJ statements, but a coding scheme can reliably assess existing statements. While all programs mentioned inclusivity and most acknowledged inequities, some had subtle or implicit exclusionary language, and a minority described concrete actions. Current efforts within our field may represent more symbolic than identity or structural change. Our findings inform recommendations for improving the efforts of training programs. Public Significance Statement: A coding scheme can reliably assess how clearly public-facing statements communicate a program's commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, justice, or antiracist values. The programs assessed showed more indications of symbolic change than identity or structural change, perhaps reflecting a lack of knowledge about how to enact structural change and/or limited willingness to reflect on our field's contributions to historical and current inequities. Program directors at community colleges must navigate institutional rhetoric to effectively support Men of Color. This study considers how administrators often exhibit a non-performative commitment to diversity, in that stated commitment might not equate to action. Utilizing a framework grounded in critical race theory and cognitive frames regarding diversity, deficit, and equity, the authors of the study interviewed directors of men of color programs to explore their administrators' commitments to support the work. They also explored the ways that diversity rhetoric affected the success of their programs. Findings revealed that rhetoric often took the place of tangible action, that diversity rhetoric might contradict directors' experiences, and that directors regularly acted as commodities to do the work of diversity with little support. Through this research, the authors offer several implications related to the need for more explicit institution-wide practices that center on equity-mindedness and move past generic frames about diversity. Rural communities have unique mental health needs and challenges which are often related to the uniqueness of the community itself. On a per‐capita basis, the investment in rural mental health research is far less than that in urban communities. Added to this, rural communities are often at risk of researchers, based in large urban universities, visiting, conducting the research with minimal engagement with local stakeholders and limited understanding of the community's social‐service‐environmental context. Often this research leaves no visible benefit to the community with respect to increased knowledge, resources or community capacity. This commentary is based on the insights of a panel of authors from 9 countries, each with extensive experience of rural mental health research and work. And it seeks to stimulate the discourse on responsible rural mental health practice. The aim of this commentary is to provide a reference on research practice for novice and experienced researchers on rural mental health research and practice, to assist policymakers, government and funding bodies to establish appropriate standards and guidelines for rural mental health research, and support rural communities to advocate for equity of funding and sustainable research as they engage with researchers, funders and governments. The 10 standards in this declaration will help guide researchers toward research that is beneficial to rural communities and also help develop the local community's research capability, which ultimately will serve to enhance the mental health and well‐being of rural communities. Several countries are facing significant troubles of health services, particularly rising prices. Innovative technologies and services are expected to help boost medical quality and cut costs. In this sense, there is a lack of innovative work in spite of a growing interest in open innovation and approaches that advocate for expanded cooperation among various actors in healthcare. This article describes the findings of a study concerning the commitment of the healthcare sector to open innovation. The search for literature focused on English-language papers up to 12 January 2020. Based on the indicated criteria for inclusion, 29 articles were included. The results show that most experiments concentrate on the areas of pharmaceutical research (drug discovery) and health informatics (health information systems and infrastructures) that were brought out as concepts or applied as pilots and prototypes. Aim: To explore the professional identity of nursing during the COVID‐19 pandemic in Iran. Professional identity guides nurses' interaction with patients. In the COVID‐19 pandemic, recent developments in society's view of the nursing profession are expected to change the perception of nurses' professional identities. Design: The qualitative study used a conventional content analysis approach. Methods: Data were collected using in‐depth semi‐structured interviews from June 2020 to January 2021. Data analysis was performed using Landman and Granheim's analysis and Lincoln and Guba's criteria to ensure the data's rigour. Results: After analysing the 20 interviews with 17 participants, including 11 nurses with an average age of 32.63 ± 6.71 years and six varius community members with an average age of 38.66 ± 5.85 years, three main categories were formed: (1) The dual role of the media in the two subcategories (the positive role and the negative role of the media), (2) Changes in public view of nursing during the COVID‐19 pandemic (respect for avoidance and understanding the value of nursing practice) and (3) Change of professional identity by showing self‐sacrifice (dealing with adversity and commitment to professional obligations). Conclusion: The image in the public view of the nursing profession during the COVID‐19 pandemic media differs from before and shows self‐sacrifice, professional commitment and humanity in nursing. Nurses' experience of caring during the COVID‐19 pandemic has positively affected their professional identity; however, they are concerned about the instability of improving the nursing image in society. Impact: Nursing leaders and policymakers can utilize media platforms to portray the nursing profession in a positive light and emphasize the scientific capabilities of nurses. This approach goes beyond highlighting sacrifice and compassion, aiming to shift societal perceptions of nursing and bolster the professional identity of nurses. How does female board membership affect firm stakeholder strategy? With the large increase in pressure to add more women to boards, it is especially important to understand how they influence firm strategy. Moreover, despite the growing importance of firm stakeholder strategy, key stakeholders continue to criticize firms for failing to keep their commitments. Here, we expect that owing to their long-term nature, consistency is particularly important for stakeholder investments, and that owing to their greater interest in stakeholder issues and their effect on board monitoring, female board members can be a key driver of stakeholder strategy consistency. Specifically, we develop and test hypotheses that increasing architectural complexity and uncertainty make stakeholder investments more difficult or costly, leading to a reduction in such investments. However, female board membership increases firm stakeholder consistency and counteracts these negative effects. BACKGROUND: The education process is based on leading the choice of profession in line with the interests and abilities of the individual and helping them with their career plans in these professions. OBJECTIVE: The aim of this study is to investigate the effect of the occupational interest levels of the Health Management Department students on their career commitment. METHODS: In the study, descriptive findings were included by using a quantitative research design. In the research, data were collected from 282 students studying Department of Health Management. SPSS 26.0 package program was used for statistical analysis of research data. Parametric tests (t-test, analysis of variance, Pearson correlation analysis, normal linear regression analysis) were utilized since the data fit the normal distribution. RESULTS: 57.1% of the individuals participating in the research are female, 47.8% have the age range of 21 to 22. There is a positive, moderate (r = 0.677 p < 0.01) significant relationship between professional interest and career commitment scales. The level of professional interest and career dedication varies according to gender, age, income status and the class of the student. CONCLUSION: It is very important that health management students have an interest in their profession. Background: The turnover of newly graduated nurses is a severe challenge for healthcare systems, and so it is essential to identify its predictive factors. This study investigates whether professional commitment, career adaptability, career self-efficacy, anxiety, and depression levels before and after internship can predict the turnover intention of newly graduated nurses after one year of employment. Methods: In a longitudinal study, 271 undergraduate nursing students recruited by convenience sampling were surveyed before internship (T1), after internship (T2), and after one year of employment (T3), with all surveys conducted on the Wenjuanxing survey platform (www.wjx.cn). Generalized linear models and restricted cubic spline models were used to explore possible linear and nonlinear relationships between turnover intention and the variables of interest. Results: Professional commitment both pre-internship (β = −0.060, p = 0.007, 95% CI [− 0.104, − 0.016]) and post-internship (β = −0.053, p = 0.015, 95% CI [− 0.096, − 0.010]) can negatively predict turnover intention. There is also a negative linear relationship between post-internship career self-efficacy and turnover intention (β = −0.308, p < 0.001, 95% CI [− 0.436, − 0.180]). In addition, professional commitment both pre-internship (adjusted R2 = 0.046, p = 0.004) and post-internship (adjusted R2 = 0.068, p < 0.001), career self-efficacy both pre-internship (adjusted R2 = 0.039, p = 0.008) and post-internship (adjusted R2 = 0.116, p < 0.001), career adaptability both pre-internship (adjusted R2 = 0.057, p < 0.001) and post-internship (adjusted R2 = 0.039, p = 0.008), anxiety both pre-internship (adjusted R2 = 0.035, p = 0.014) and post-internship (adjusted R2 = 0.048, p = 0.003), and depression levels both pre-internship (adjusted R2 = 0.031, P nonlinear = 0.021) and post-internship (adjusted R2 = 0.053, p = 0.002) are nonlinearly associated with turnover intention. Conclusions: Nursing educators and clinical care administrators must take action to enhance the professional commitment and career self-efficacy of nursing students during their internship. It is also important to pay attention to their career adaptability, as well as to any anxiety or depression that they may experience during clinical practice. Objectives: The aim of this study was to describe grandmothers' experiences of taking care of their grandchildren in terms of their care-giving tasks, motivations and emotions. Methods: A qualitative phenomenological study was conducted. Purposive sampling was used, based on the relevance of the research question. Seventeen participants were included, women ≥ 65 years old, grandmothers who care for their grandchildren at least 10 h per week and who attended the Nursing units of the Primary Care Health Centers (Madrid Public Health Service). Seventeen in-depth interviews were conducted. The interviews were audio-recorded, transcribed verbatim and thematic analysis was carried out from the perspective of hermeneutic phenomenology. For the analysis, the Excel program was used to organize and share the coding process. Also, we followed COREQ guidelines. Results: Four main themes were identified: (a) Care out of obligation, where participants feel an obligation to help their children by caring for grandchildren, regardless of their number, and prefer to do so voluntarily; (b) Care out of responsibility, where grandmothers see their role as a responsibility that includes saving costs by caring for grandchildren and facilitating their children's work life balance; (c) Care as a social duty, reflecting a moral commitment inherited from their mothers to help future generations; and (d) Construction of care from a gender perspective, where grandmothers, as women, primarily assume the care and upbringing of grandchildren. Discussion: Our results contribute to increase knowledge about childcare provided by grandmothers to their grandchildren. Grandmothers become fundamental pillars of families by helping their children balance family and work. Behind this care there is a strong sense of obligation, duty and generational responsibility. Grandmothers' help presents differences in the distribution of tasks and care by sex. Identifying factors that motivate grandmothers to care for their grandchildren helps nurses to perform higher quality comprehensive care. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Background: Global Health Community Service-Learning (GHCSL) can have a profound professional and personal impact on learners. This pedagogy provides understanding of unfamiliar environments and challenges learners to step out of their comfort zones, adapt to new cultures, and navigate unique situations. Yet, there are relatively few studies exploring the experiences of learners participating in community service-learning placements in global regions as part of undergraduate dental curriculum. This study aimed to explore the experiences and impact of the GHCSL program in East Africa among undergraduate dental learners at the Schulich School of Dentistry. Methods: Eight undergraduate dental learners were enrolled in GHCSL pilot placements. Placement agreements were established with Makerere University in Kampala, Uganda, and the University of Rwanda in Kigali, Rwanda for the summer of 2022. Stakeholders from both institutions were engaged in the development and implementation of these placements. Learners were required to engage in weekly reflection through a 'storytelling and incident-based narrative' while carrying out their placement. A qualitative study design was employed, and an inductive interpretive approach was utilized to thematically analyze the learners' reflective essays. Results: Five major themes emerged from the learners' reflective essays: (1) experiential clinical learning; (2) cultural humility and social awareness; (3) awareness of contrasting healthcare systems; (4) commitment to service; and (5) personal and professional growth. Most learners reflected on their engagement with diverse communities, being exposed to unique patient cases, and witnessing the adaptability exuded in resource-constrained environments. These experiences presented the learners with an opportunity to develop cultural humility and gain a newfound motivation to mitigate global oral health disparities in populations beyond that of their local communities. Learners also reflected on enhanced social awareness experiences and the awareness of contrasting healthcare systems in Canada and their placements, which encouraged the development of empathy, communication, and compassion skills, as well as an understanding of the disproportionate burden of conditions in low-resource settings. Conclusion: The reflective essays concluded that the GHCSL placements had a positive impact on the learners, encouraging many to develop a heightened desire for lifelong learning to address oral health disparities within a global context.
