Kerosene is widely used in various types of anthropogenic activities. Its environmental safety is mainly discussed in the context of aerospace activities. At all stages of its life cycle, aerospace activity impacts the environment. In aviation, the pollution of atmospheric air and terrestrial ecosystems is caused, first of all, by jet fuel and the products of its incomplete combustion and is technologically specified for a number of models in the case of fuel leak during an emergency landing. In the rocket and space activities, jet fuel enters terrestrial ecosystems as a result of fuel spills from engines and fuel tanks at the crash sites of the first stages of launch vehicles. The jet fuel from the second and third stages of launch vehicles does not enter terrestrial ecosystems. The fuel components have been studied in sufficient detail. However, the papers with representative data sets and their statistical processing not only for the kerosene content, but also for the total petroleum hydrocarbons in the soils affected by aerospace activity are almost absent. Nevertheless, the available data and results of mathematical modeling allow us to assert that an acceptable level of hydrocarbons, not exceeding the assimilation potential, enters terrestrial ecosystems during a regular aerospace activity. In order to investigate the effect of oxygen concentration on ammonia combustion, the effect of oxygen concentration on ammonia combustion and its mechanism were systematically investigated by using the ReaxFF molecular dynamics simulations and density functional theory (DFT) calculations. The results show that different oxygen concentrations significantly affect the concentration of reactants, free radicals, intermediates and products in the ammonia combustion process. High oxygen concentration significantly increases the concentration of free radicals, which effectively promotes the ammonia reaction. However, more free radicals such as ·H and ·OH are produced in the early stage of the reactions, which react with ·NH 2 radicals. It promotes the production of the intermediates HNO and indirectly inhibits the production of the intermediates N 2 H 4 and N 2 H 2. It promotes the production of NO X. The results of the DFT calculations show that the relative Gibbs free energy barrier of the reaction of ·OH with NH 3 is low at 1.00 kcal/mol, so the increase in ·OH concentration greatly facilitates the reaction of NH 3. Fire and explosion hazards pose significant safety concerns in the processing and storage of biomass particles, warranting the safe utilization of these particles. This study employed scanning electron microscopy, thermogravimetric analysis, and cone calorimetry to investigate the thermal hazards and toxicity of raw biomass particles from four prevalent agricultural crops in China: rice, sorghum, corn, and reed. Among the samples, corn exhibited the highest heat output of 8006.82 J/g throughout the thermal decomposition process. The quantitative evaluation of critical heat flux, heat release rate intensity, fire growth rate index (FIGRA), post-ignition fire acceleration (PIFA) and flashover potential (X) revealed a substantial fire risk inherent to all the examined straw samples. Notably, corn displayed the lowest FIGRA value of 8.30 kW/m2 s, while rice demonstrated the minimum PIFA value of 16.11 kW/m2 s. Moreover, the X values for all four biomass particle types exceeded 10 under varying external heat flux levels, indicating their high propensity for fire hazards. Analysis of CO and CO2 emissions during combustion showed all four biomass samples exhibited high concentrations throughout, from the initial stages to the end. This paper presents the results of studying changes in the main parameters and properties of soils in larch and pine forests growing on sandy soils of the Lena-Vilyui interfluve of Central Yakutia, where catastrophic forest fires occurred in 2021. According to the remote monitoring information system of Rosleskhoz, in 2021, almost 8.5 million hectares of forests burned in Yakutia, which is considered as one of the largest forest fires in Russia and in the world in that year. After the fire passes through the forest floor, the content of organic matter decreases as a result of combustion processes. The acidity of the soil changes towards its alkalization due to the entry of combustion products. Changes in soil profiles occur; turbation processes begin more intensively, which in turn change the natural distribution of soil indicator values such as the organic carbon content, the pH, and the number of exchangeable bases. Due to the sharp increase in heat supply after a fire, the depth of seasonal thawing in the soils of burnt larch forests increases by a quarter and by twofold in pine forests. This manuscript presents Computational Fluid Dynamics simulation of a ramjet combustor using Reynolds Averaged Navier–Stokes approach for turbulence with flamelet combustion modelling. In the approach a one-dimensional premixed flame simulation is performed to cover a wide range of mixture fraction space. After a mesh study, effects of turbulence, Realizable k-ε and SST k-ω, and combustion modelling, Steady Laminar Flamelet and Flamelet Generated Manifold, are investigated in detail. The Flamelet Generated Manifold model that offers a reaction delay by employing an additional progress variable, shows there are no reactions taking place in the vicinity of jet inlets, hence the unrealistic temperature rise that is seen in the case of using Steady Laminar Flamelet is not observed. A study on the choice of progress variable based on the combustion products is carried out. The present study readily demonstrates good predictability of Flamelet Generated Manifold combustion modelling in such a dual inlet ramjet combustion chamber. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

In order to study the effect of pressure on the ignition and combustion process of CL-20/NEPE solid propellant, the ignition delay, burning rate, and maximum combustion temperature of different solid propellant formulations with an ambient pressure of 0.1~8.0 MPa were measured experimentally by a solid propellant laser ignition experiment system, and the agglomeration process and the characteristics of condensed phase combustion products were analyzed. The experimental results show that, with the increase of pressure, the ignition-delay time decreases, and the burning rate and the maximum combustion temperature increase. With the increase of pressure, the influence on propellant ignition and combustion characteristics becomes smaller. In the experiment, the dynamic agglomeration phenomenon of aluminum particles in the propellant was recorded by a high-speed camera combined with a microscopic camera lens, and the dynamic agglomeration phenomenon of the combustion surface of the propellant and the dynamic agglomeration phenomenon, after the initial agglomeration was separated from the surface, were analyzed and expounded. Incorporating silver wires into propellant has emerged as a highly effective strategy for enhancing propellant burning rates, a technique extensively deployed in the construction of numerous fielded sounding rockets and tactical missiles. Our research, employing a multi-faceted approach encompassing thermogravimetric-differential scanning calorimetry measurements (TG-DSC), combustion diagnoses, burning rate tests, and meticulous collection of condensed combustion products, sought to elucidate how variations in silver wire quantity and winding configuration impact the combustion properties of propellants. Our findings underscore the remarkable efficacy of double tightly twisted silver wire in significantly boosting propellant burning rates under ambient conditions. Moreover, at lower temperatures, the reduced gap between the propellant and silver wire further magnifies the influence of silver wire on burning rates. However, it is noteworthy that the relationship between burning speed and combustion efficiency is not deterministic. While a smaller cone angle of the burning surface contributes to heightened burning rates, it concurrently exacerbates the polymerization effect of vapor phase aluminum particles, consequently diminishing propellant combustion efficiency. Conversely, propellants configured with sparsely twinned silver wires exhibit notable enhancements in combustion efficiency, despite a less pronounced impact on the burning rate attributed to the larger cone angle of the burning surface. Remarkably, these trends persist at lower temperatures. Based on the principle of heat transfer balance, a theoretical model for the combustion of propellants with wire inserts is developed. The reliability of this theoretical model is validated through a comparison of calculated values with experimental data. Our research outcomes carry significant implications for guiding the application and advancement of the silver wire method in solid propellants for solid rocket motors, offering valuable insights to inform future research and development endeavors in this domain. The basic national condition that is dominated by coal will not alter in the foreseeable future. Coal-fired boiler is the main equipment for coal utilization, and cyclone burner is a practical type of burner. There is a cyclone formation, a primary air duct inside the center air duct, and a secondary air duct. Introducing a small stream of pulverized coal gas or oil mist stream or gas directly into the reflux zone in the center duct ignites first a stable combustion and a small fluctuation of ignition pressure. In this paper, the variation of furnace temperature for cyclone pulverized coal burner corresponding to different excess air factors and the composition of gases such as O2, CO, CO2, and NOX produced by combustion were investigated using fluent software. A single cyclone pulverized coal burner from an actual coal-fired boiler is used, and a combustion zone applicable to the study of a single pulverized coal burner is established to study the actual operation of a single pulverized coal burner at different excess air coefficients. The findings indicate that the ignition position of pulverized coal combustion advances with decreasing α (Excess Air Factors); however, the length of the produced high-temperature flame gets shorter. As the value of α decreases, the burnout in the furnace decreases and the CO emission concentration increases, with a maximum CO mole fraction of 0.38% at α = 1.2 and a maximum CO mole fraction of 3.13% at the axial position when α decreases to 0.8. The furnace's concentration of NOX, the NOX emission level decreases significantly with decreasing α. The NOX mole mass increases gradually with increasing α, and in the bottom portion of the primary combustion zone, more NOX is produced. The concentration of NOX in the chamber changes significantly after α exceeds 1.0, and the NOX at the outlet surges from 417.25 ppm to 801.07 ppm, which is attributed to the increase in the average temperature of the chamber, which promotes the generation of thermophilic NOX. The distribution pattern of O2 mole fraction along the furnace height cross-section at different excess air factors is basically the same, with a maximum at the burner inlet and a gradual decrease in the O2 content as it enters the combustion chamber to react with the pulverized coal in a combustion reaction. The value of α = 0.8 when the air supply is obviously insufficient, the fuel cannot be fully combusted, and only a small amount of CO2 is produced. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The backflow of high-temperature products in an engine's combustion chamber is a key issue which can significantly reduce combustion efficiency. This is particularly problematic for hypergolic propellants, as the high-temperature products may still contain fuel or an oxidizer. If either the fuel or the oxidizer backflows into the manifold of the other, it can easily lead to micro-explosions, thereby creating a threat. To address this problem, this paper proposes a new design of an anti-backflow injector, aimed at effectively preventing the backflow of combustion products to the propellant manifold. A steady-state, non-reactive Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) model is employed to evaluate the steady internal flow characteristics of the proposed anti-backflow injector. Additionally, a complementary transient, multiphase fluid dynamics simulation is carried out to assess the response characteristics of the anti-backflow injector. Our analysis focuses on the response characteristics of the concave valve core. The study also explores the impact of different expansion port angles on the injection effect, finding that the vortex diameter at the injector outlet is positively related to the expansion port angle. It is also shown that the injection angle becomes more stable as the expansion angle increases. When the expansion port angles are 10° and 20°, the injection angles show similar trends. In terms of anti-backflow effect, taking the injection stiffness of 150% and a time range of 300 µs as examples, the response time of the anti-backflow models with expansion ports of 10°, 15°, and 20° is increased by 67 µs, 99 µs, and 213 µs, respectively, compared to the base models with the same expansion angles. Meanwhile, when the injection stiffness is 50%, the response time of the anti-backflow models with expansion ports of 10°, 15°, and 20° is increased by 207 µs, 210 µs, and 207 µs, respectively. When the injection stiffness is 20%, the response recovery speed of the anti-backflow models with expansion ports of 10° and 15° is increased by 41 µs and 96 µs, respectively. However, the performance of the anti-backflow model with a 20° expansion port is 216 µs of the base model. Proactive prevention and fighting fire at industrial facilities, often located in urbanized clusters, should include the use of modern methods for modeling danger zones that appear during the spread of the harmful combustion products of various chemicals. Simulation modeling is a method that allows predicting the parameters of a danger zone, taking into account a number of technological, landscape, and natural-climatic factors that have a certain variability. The purpose of this research is to develop a mathematical simulation model of the formation process of a danger zone during an emergency at an industrial facility, including an explosion of a container with chemicals and fire, with the spread of an aerosol and smoke cloud near residential areas. The subject of this study was the development of a simulation model of a danger zone of combustion gases and its graphical interpretation as a starting point for timely decision making on evacuation by an official. The mathematical model of the process of danger zone formation during an explosion and fire at an industrial facility presented in this article is based on the creation of a GSL library from data on the mass of explosion and combustion products, verification using the Wald test, and the use of algorithms for calculating the starting and ending points of the danger zone for various factor values' variables, constructing ellipses of the boundaries of the distribution of pollution spots. The developed model makes it possible to calculate the linear dimensions and area of the danger zone under optimistic and pessimistic scenarios, constructing a graphical diagram of the zones of toxic doses from the source of explosion and combustion. A mathematical model and a program for calculating heat exchange in a flow of combustion products cooled below the dew point in a condensation heat exchanger, in a gas exhaust pipe with a clamp lining have been created. Analytical dependences are presented making it possible to determine the temperature of the exhaust gases, as well as temperature fields and thermal stresses in the wall of the gas exhaust pipe depending on the proportion of bypassed uncooled gases, thermophysical characteristics of the materials of the pipe wall and combustion products, geometric parameters of the pipe, and the intensity of the impact of environment on it. Calculations of the processes of heat exchange of gases moving in a reinforced concrete chimney were carried out for the case of its protection from hydrate corrosion by the bypass method. It has been established that for a three-layer reinforced concrete chimney with a height of 180 m, the quantity of bypassed gases is 30–35% of the total amount of gases. If there is a condensing heat-utilization unit in the boiler plant, the temperature difference in the gas exhaust pipe, its free thermal deformation and thermal stresses in the structural elements of the pipe are reduced by 2.12–2.99 times, which increases the reliability of the pipe. The electronically nonadiabatic reaction of preassociation H + O + N2 ↔ OH* + N2 is the main channel of formation of electronically excited chemiluminescent OH* molecules during the oxidation of hydrogen in mixtures with a high content of nitrogen, e.g., during the combustion of hydrogen in air. For this reaction, within the framework of the combined theoretical and experimental approach with the use of the earlier results of quantum-chemical calculations for the rate constant of the elementary process H + O → OH* in the limit of high pressures and experimental data on OH* glow in N2-diluted H2/O2 mixtures (including those obtained in this work), a physically substantiated dependence of the rate constant on temperature and pressure has been obtained for a broad range of thermodynamic parameters (T = 200–4000 K and p = 10–3–102 atm). It has been shown that the found rate constant is in reasonable agreement with the existing results of measurements in both shock tubes and flames, with the rate constant in the process under study in a nitrogen buff er gas (M = N2) turning out to be nearly 1.3–1.8 times lower (at atmospheric pressure) than for M = Ar. It has been noted that in interpreting measurements of the temporal intensity profiles of OH* emission collected from the entire combustible volume (from the end of a shock tube), taking account of the self-absorption of emission on combustion products is substantial. Alumina (Al2O3) particles, the primary combustion products of solid rockets, can accumulate in the stratosphere, changing the global radiative balance. These Al2O3 particles were usually treated as homogeneous spheres. However, they contain impurities and may form clusters during the combustion process. Models representing Al-containing and C-containing Al2O3 clusters were developed, denoted as Al2O3 shell model (ASM) and Al2O3 core model (ACM), respectively. The superposition T-matrix method (STMM) was applied to examine their optical characteristics. Subsequently, a method to obtain the top-of-atmosphere flux was proposed by integrating the models with the moderate resolution atmospheric transmission code (MODTRAN). With the addition of Al/C, the absorption cross-section enhances by several orders of magnitude at 0.55 μm and increases slightly at 10 μm. The equivalent sphere models will weaken their scattering ability. A 4Tg mass burden of Al2O3 produces radiative forcing of −0.439 Wm−2. However, the addition of Al and C reduces the forcing by up to 15% and 12%, respectively. In summary, the optical characteristics and radiative forcing of Al2O3 clusters are sensitive to Al/C and morphology models. While our findings are impacted by various uncertainties, they contribute valuable insights into the radiative forcing of Al2O3 particles, potential climatic changes by space activities. Snow cover is a good indicator of air pollution and accumulates trace elements and organic pollutants. At the same time, the analysis of snow cover is simple and allows you to assess the presence of these pollutants in the atmosphere. We have studied the snow cover of an urban agglomeration located in the northern part of Europe, with a large number of inhabitants, and therefore with a large anthropogenic load on the atmosphere. We have identified trace elements in the snow cover at many city crossroads. Also we determined the presence of PAHs as the main organic pollutants that are typical for urban agglomerations. Inorganic pollutants were detected in all samples. We found that trace elements contamination advised 1 to 5 according to Nemerow index (PiNemerow). In 50% of the samples, the contamination index corresponded to type V (heavy pollution); 30% to type III and 20% to type IV, respectively. We also determined PAHs in the same places. We can conclude that the values of the investigated substances are low throughout the city. About half of PAHs come from the combustion of wood, the other from the combustion of petroleum products. Since different sources prevail at different sampling points, therefore, it can be assumed about anthropogenic sources, which is also confirmed by the HMW/LMW ratio. Organically-bound foundry cores are substituted by inorganically-bound cores increasingly. This trend is due to regulatory efforts, workplace safety issues, and increasing costs for waste deposits. Changing the binder system reduces the emissions to mostly water vapor, solving health and safety issues. Yet, the difference in the behavior of the gas phase, namely, the condensation potential of water, changes the casting process drastically. In contrast with the continuous generation and discharge of combustion products in the case of organic binders, water accumulates within the foundry core. Only once the cold spots of the core reach boiling temperature noteworthy amounts of vapor are created, increasing the chance for gas defects of the cast parts. Countermeasures have to be taken when designing the core's geometry. We conducted the following research to improve the understanding of core gas release and its interactions with the foundry core's binder content and storage conditions. Both binder content and relative humidity during storage were varied in three steps. Their influence on the core gas amount, time of gas generation, and gas permeability of the cores were investigated. The experiments were performed in the institute's Induction Analysis Furnace and an aluminum melt bath. We found a strong dependency of storage humidity, further increased by increasing binder content on the gas amount and time of the gas release. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Oxidation resistance, surface morphology and combustion products of WE43-xCa (x = 0, 1, 1.5, and 2 wt.%) alloys were investigated at 500 °C, 550 °C, and 600 °C. Results indicated that the weight gain of the WE43 alloy at various temperatures followed a parabolic pattern over time. At high temperatures, the oxidation resistance of WE43 alloy with Ca element was superior to that of 0Ca alloy. After high-temperature oxidation, a loose oxide film with longitudinal cracks was created. Near the surface, internal oxide connections formed, and oxygen elements diffused throughout the matrix. The addition of Ca resulted in the generation of Y2O3 and CaO, which were considered to be the protective oxide film, and the dense mixed oxide layer delayed the inward diffusion of oxygen ions O2−, thus improving the oxidation resistance of the alloy at high temperatures. The energy release process of the Mg-based hydroreactive fuels directly affects the performance of water ramjet engines, and the burning rate is one of the key parameters of the Mg-based hydroreactive fuels. However, there is not enough in-depth understanding of the combustion process of Mg-based hydroreactive fuels within the chamber of water ramjet engines, and there is a lack of effective means of prediction of the burning rate. Therefore, this paper aims to examine the flame structure of Mg-based hydroreactive fuels with a high metal content and analyze the impact of the water injection velocity and droplet diameter on the combustion property. A combustion experiment system was designed to replicate the combustion of Mg-based hydroreactive fuels within water ramjet engines, and the average linear burning rate was calculated through the target line method. On the basis of the experiment, a combustion–flow coupling solution model of Mg-based hydroreactive fuels was formulated, including the reaction mechanism between Mg/H2O and the decomposition products from an oxidizer and binder. The model was validated through experimental results with Mg-based hydroreactive fuels at various pressures and water injection velocities. The mean absolute percentage error (MAPE) in the experimental results was less than 5%, proving the accuracy and validity of the model. The resulting model was employed for simulating the combustion of Mg-based hydroreactive fuels under different water injection parameters. The addition of water injection resulted in the creation of a new high-temperature region, namely the Mg/H2O non-premixed combustion region in addition to improving the radial diffusion of the flame. With the increasing water injection velocity, the characteristic distance of Mg/H2O non-premixed combustion region is decreased, which enhances the heat transfer to burning surface and accelerates the fuel combustion. The impact of droplet parameters was investigated, revealing that larger droplets enhance the penetration of the fuel-rich gas, which is similar to the effect of injection velocity. However, when the droplet size becomes too large, the aqueous droplets do not fully evaporate, resulting in a slight decrease in the burning rate. These findings enhance the understanding of the mechanisms behind the burning rate variation in Mg-based hydroreactive fuels and offer theoretical guidance for the optimal selection of the engine operating parameters. Slab expansion (SLABEX) tests are conducted to validate a process for calibrating the detonation products equation of state (EOS) of a high explosive (HE). The SLABEX tests use rectangular slabs of PBX 9502, a polymer-bonded HE formulation consisting of 95 wt.% 1,3,5-triamino-2,4,6-trinitrobenzene bound with Kel F-800, a co-polymer of chlorotrifluoroethylene and vinylidene-fluoride. Three PBX 9502 slab thicknesses are examined, each confined symmetrically by two rectangular copper (Cu) plates approximately one-tenth the thickness of the HE slab. For the duration of each experiment, the detonation flow along the central axis of the PBX 9502 slab remains two-dimensional. The lateral flow velocity component of the outer surfaces of the expanding Cu plates is measured, along with the steady axial detonation speed along the central axis of the SLABEX. Hydrodynamic simulations of the Cu plate expansion in the SLABEX geometry, driven by the energy stored in the detonation products by the detonation combustion event, are conducted using a Jones–Wilkins–Lee EOS for the detonation products. This EOS form was recently parameterized for PBX 9502 in the cylinder expansion test geometry using a newly developed calibration technique [Voelkel et al., Combust. Flame 246, 112373 (2022)]. Good agreement between the experiment and prediction is found in each SLABEX test, demonstrating that the detonation product EOS calibration technique produces EOSs that are predictive when applied to other geometries. Combustion of dispersed metals in an oxidizing environment is of practical interest, which is related to the prediction of characteristics of high-energy compositions (HECs) containing metal powders, as well as the characteristics of various propulsion systems and gas generators. The research studies peculiarities of ignition and combustion of dispersed systems of Al, B and Al-B mixture in gas products formed during thermal decomposition and combustion of HEC components. In the study of the characteristics of ignition and combustion, the development of flame processes, a continuous CO2 laser (high-speed radiant heating) and a continuous-pressure flow bomb (stationary combustion), including the filter system for the capture of condensed combustion products (CCPs) were applied. It was found that the high reactivity of dispersed Al reduces the ignition time and increases the burning rate of HECs, and increases the volume fraction of fine condensed particles. The use of amorphous B or Al-B mixture (17.2/82.8 mass ratio) increases the ignition time (up to 62%) and significantly reduces the burning rate of HECs, at the same time, the volume share of large CCPs increases due to the melting of the oxide layer on the surface of B particles and their increased cohesion. Analysis of CCPs showed that fine and large agglomerate particles were formed on the surface of the reactive HEC layer, which contain oxides of the metals used. When Al particles are burned together with B particles, complex oxides (aluminum borates) can be formed.

Calculating the composition of the combustion products serves as the starting point for the high-area ratio (HAR) rocket nozzle. The HAR rocket nozzle finds application in next-generation hypersonic vehicles and missiles. The gas dynamics, gas radiation, and turbulence-chemistry interactions (TCI) play a crucial role in simulations of hypersonic turbulent reactive flows through a rocket nozzle. The interaction of turbulence and chemistry leads to random species mixing and enhanced heat transfer. The k-omega shear stress transport (SST) model is employed to calculate the average flow fields. The eddy dissipation concept (EDC) with reduced chemistry is applied to capture the TCI in the nozzle. The spectral properties of H 2 O are calculated using the full spectrum k -distribution (FSK) model in conjunction with the first-order spherical harmonics method. The mass fractions of combustion products obtained from Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) and Monte Carlo (MC) methods agree well with the Chemical Equilibrium with Applications (CEA) code. The flow fields obtained with the current solver are validated with the published experimental data. A significant rise and fall of 7–8% have been observed in the centerline flow properties when not including the TCI models in the flow solver. The centerline flow fields obtained with different discretization schemes are in good agreement. Globally, the circular efficiency of biomass resources has become a priority due to the depletion and negative environmental impacts of fossil fuels. This study aimed to quantify the atmosphere-dependent combustion of Ganoderma lucidum (GL) biomass and its thermodynamic and kinetic parameters toward enhancing its circularity and transformability characteristics. The GL combustion occurred in the three stages of moisture removal, volatile release, and coke combustion. Combustion performance characteristics were more favorable in the N2/O2 atmosphere than in the CO2/O2 atmosphere under the same heating rates. The rising heating rate facilitated the release of volatiles. According to the model-free methods of Ozawa-Flynn-Wall and Kissinger–Akahira–Sunose, the activation energies essential for the primary reaction were 283.09 kJ/mol and 288.28 kJ/mol in the N2/O2 atmosphere and 233.09 kJ/mol and 235.64 kJ/mol in the CO2/O2 atmosphere. The gaseous products of the GL combustion included CH4, H2O, C = O, CO, CO2, NH3, C = C, and C–O(H). Ash prepared in both atmospheres exhibited a tendency for slag formation, with oxy-fuel combustion lowering its risk. Experiments on the cleaning of primer coatings and composite coatings were carried out by millisecond pulsed CO2 laser and nanosecond pulsed fiber laser, the dynamic behavior during the cleaning process was observed by high-speed camera and infrared thermal imager, and the micro- and macro-morphologies of the surface of the samples after cleaning were analyzed. After using millisecond pulsed CO2 laser to clean the paint coating, there are residual combustion products, and it is easy to thermally deform the substrate. When using nanosecond pulsed fiber laser to clean the primer coating, the laser energy can be precisely controlled to avoid damage to the substrate, but it is difficult to remove composite coatings in a single scan. Using 300 W nanosecond pulsed laser for multiple scans can remove thicker paint coatings with less damage to the substrate, but the cleaning efficiency is greatly reduced. For this, a new method of multi-laser combined cleaning is proposed. The composite coatings are thinned with a 200 W millisecond pulsed laser, and then the final cleaning is done by a 200 W nanosecond pulsed laser, and a clean substrate surface without visible damage is obtained. After cleaning, the coating residue rate is 0.965%, the surface roughness is 3.19 μm, and the surface contact angle is 33.3°, which is conducive to the reattachment of the subsequently applied coatings. Hydrogen is considered as one of the key energy carrier for the forthcoming green transition because of its high energy content and harmless combustion products. Water electrolysis, powered by green electricity, is one of the most efficient and promising technologies for H 2 production. Cheap and earth abundant metals-based electrocatalysts for Hydrogen Evolution Reaction (HER) are needed to drive a green transition based on hydrogen produced by water electrolysis. Perforated plate type Ni electrodes are prepared by a cost-effective electroforming process, designed to work for water electrolysis in alkaline environment in a flow-through configuration facilitating the release of bubbles produced by HER. The aim of this work is to synthesize a catalyst layer based on NiCuMo alloy produced by an electrodeposition process tailored to maximize electrocatalytic performances, increasing the electrochemical surface active area (more than 50 times) and its activity. The object of this study is the fire resistance of reinforced concrete hollow slabs at the onset of the limit state of loss of integrity. The problem of accurate modeling of the formation and development of cracks in concrete was investigated. The paper reports an analysis of the results of the stress-strain state of a reinforced concrete hollow slab during fire exposure for devising a method for evaluating the fire resistance of such structures upon the onset of the limit state of loss of integrity. According to EN 1992-1-2, the determination of fire resistance of structures is provided by calculation methods, however, there is no such procedure for reinforced concrete hollow slabs. Many scientific works offer refined methods for evaluating only the loss of load-bearing and heat-insulating capabilities, leaving aside the issue of loss of integrity. Thus, this can lead to a biased evaluation of reinforced concrete hollow floor slabs according to the criterion of the limit state of loss of integrity, which in turn can put under a threat to the fire safety of buildings, which threatens the life and health of people. According to the results of the calculation, a parameter has been determined, according to which the onset of the limit state of fire resistance, in particular, the loss of integrity, was established. Summarizing the damage distributions, it was assumed that in the case of reaching the critical plastic deformation of 2.5e-3 in concrete finite elements, they are excluded from the general set of finite elements. Thus, in the case of the formation of through cracks, the removal of finite elements is taken as a parameter to identify the onset of the limit state of loss of integrity. According to the results of the computational experiment, it was established that through cracks in a fragment of a reinforced concrete hollow slab are formed in 44 min. According to the results of the research, the method of evaluating the fire resistance of such structures based on the onset of the limit state of loss of integrity has been substantiated. The accumulation of excess manure and the energy costs of the buildings housing the animals are the most important problems that chicken farms have to face nowadays. The combustion of chicken manure to obtain thermal energy for animal holdings has been demonstrated through the research project AVIENERGY, in Spain. To ensure the circularity of the process, the combustion by-product, bottom ash, needs to be recycled and used. This work studies the agricultural use of ash from chicken manure combustion as a fertiliser product and determines its capacity for mineral fertiliser substitution. Ashes from cocombustion of chicken (broiler) manure with wood at different proportions were chemically analysed to determine their nutrient concentrations and availabilities. Then, one ash sample was used as a fertiliser for lettuce cultivation in a pot experiment. Different application rates were tested according to the phosphorus (P) content of the ash, being equivalent to 50, 65, 80 and 100% of the standard inorganic P fertilisation. The results indicate that the ash from combustion of chicken manure meets the requirements for inclusion in the fertiliser component material category 'CMC 13', and can be used for the preparation of fertiliser 'PFC 1(C)(I)(a)(ii): Compound Solid Inorganic Macronutrient Fertiliser (multi-nutrients)', and also possesses characteristics of "PFC 2: Liming Material" according to the EU legislation for fertiliser products. Although plant production was slightly reduced with ash fertilisation, the ashes reached a fertiliser capacity able to substitute 80% of the mineral P fertiliser, with a liming capacity of 30%. Accurately predicting the thermal characteristics and heat transfer distribution of the rotating detonation engine (RDE) and acquiring a clear understanding of the performance and mechanism of the rotating detonation are of great significance for achieving the safe and reliable long-duration operation of RDEs. Using RP-3 as fuel, a long-duration experimental study is performed on a 220 mm-diameter RDC to investigate the details with respect to the thermal environment. The heat flux at the typical location and the average heat flux of both the inner and outer cylinders are measured, respectively. Meanwhile, the peak pressure of the rotating detonation wave (RDW) and specific thrust are analyzed. When the ER is between 0.5 and 1 (oxidizer 2 kg/s), the stable rotating detonation mode is obtained, and the detonation duration is set as 40 s to accurately calculate the heat released by the detonation combustion. The heat flux in the upstream region of the RDW location ranges from 2.40 × 105 W/m2 to 3.17 × 105 W/m2, and the heat flux in the downstream area of the RDW location ranges from 1.05 × 106 W/m2 to 1.28 × 106 W/m2. The results demonstrate the important role of the detonation combustion zone, and the thrust performance of RDC can be improved by making the RDW move forward along the RDC axis, which is the optimal direction of detonation combustion. Through a comparison of average heat flux under different conditions, it is found that the heat released by the RDC is directly related to its thrust. In addition, the average heat flux of the inner cylinder is about three times that of the outer cylinder for the two-phase RDC with a Tesla valve intake structure, indicating that the high-temperature combustion product is closer to the inner wall. Therefore, more thermal protection should be allocated to the inner cylinder, and a more systematic analysis of the two-phase flow field distribution in the annular combustion chamber should be carried out to improve the thrust performance. In this paper, the average heat flux of the inner and outer cylinders of the RDC as well as the typical local heat flux of the outer cylinders is quantitatively measured by means of experiments, which not only deepens the understanding of RDC flow field distribution, but also provides quantitative boundary conditions for the thermal protection design of RDCs. Inhibiting the agglomeration of molten aluminum particles packed in the binder network is a promising scheme to achieve efficient combustion of solid propellants. In this investigation, the hydroxyl‐terminated structured fluorinated alcohol compound (PFD) was introduced to modify the traditional polyethylene glycol/polytetrahydrofuran block copolymerization (HTPE) binder; that is, a unique fluorinated polyether (FTPE) binder was synthesized by embedding fluorinated organic segments into the HTPE binder via crosslinking curing. The FTPE was applied in aluminum‐based propellants for the first time. Due to the complete release of fluorinated organic active segments in the range of 300°C to 400°C, the burning rate of FTPE‐based propellant increased from 4.07 (0% PFD) to 6.36 mm/s (5% PFD), increased by 56.27% under 1 MPa. The reaction heat of FTPE propellants increased from 5.95 (0% PFD) to 7.18 MJ/kg (5% PFD) under 3.0 MPa, indicating that HTPE binder modified with PFD would be conducive to inhibiting the D90 of condensed combustion products (CCPs) dropped by 81.84% from 75.46 (0% PFD) to 13.71 μm (5% PFD) under 3.0 MPa, in consistent with the significant reduction of aluminum agglomerates observed on the quenched burning surface of the propellants. Those results demonstrated that a novel FTPE binder with PFD can release fluorinated organic active segments, which motivate preignition reaction with the alumina shell in the early stage of aluminum combustion, and then enhance the melting diffusion effect of aluminum to inhibit the agglomeration. Many currently used energetic materials need to be replaced with new compounds due to toxicity or other drawbacks. Among these is the oxidizer ammonium perchlorate, often used in solid state propellants, which itself, as well as its combustion products, poses health and environmental issues. Herein, three new polynitro energetic compounds are presented containing trinitroethyl moieties. Starting from easily available starting materials, such as malonic acid ethylester, diglycolic and diaminodiacetic acid, simple and straightforward syntheses were performed to obtain first the corresponding hydrazides and subsequently the trinitroethyl hydrazides in good yields and high purity. These compounds have a positive oxygen balance (assuming to the formation of CO), a high oxygen and nitrogen content and moderate densities. Full characterization was performed by NMR spectroscopy, vibrational analysis and elemental analysis. To improve the thermal and combustion properties of nanothermites, a design theory of changing the state of matter and structural state of the reactants during reaction was proposed. The Al/MoO3/KClO4 (Kp) nanothermite was prepared and the Al/MoO3 nanothermite was used as a control. SEM and XRD were used to characterize the nanothermites; DSC was used to test thermal properties; and constant volume and open combustion tests were performed to examine their combustion performance. Phase and morphology characterization of the combustion products were performed to reveal the mechanism of the aluminothermic reaction. The results show that the Al/MoO3/Kp nanothermite exhibited excellent thermal properties, with a total heat release of 1976 J·g− 1, increasing by approximately 33% of 1486 J·g− 1 of the Al/MoO3 nanothermite, and activation energy of 269.66 kJ·mol− 1, which demonstrated higher stability than the Al/MoO3 nanothermite (205.64 kJ·mol− 1). During the combustion test, the peak pressure of the Al/MoO3/Kp nanothermite was 0.751 MPa, and the average pressure rise rate was 25.03 MPa·s− 1, much higher than 0.188 MPa and 6.27 MPa·s− 1 of the Al/MoO3 nanothermite. The combustion products of Al/MoO3 nanothermite were Al2O3, MoO, and Mo, indicating insufficient combustion and incomplete reaction, whereas, the combustion products of Al/MoO3/Kp nanothermite were Al2O3, MoO, and KCl, indicating complete reaction. Their "coral-like" morphology was the effect of reactants solidifying after melting during the combustion process. The characterization of reactants and pressure test during combustion reveals the three stages of aluminothermic reaction in thermites. The excellent thermal and combustion performance of Al/MoO3/Kp nanothermite is attributed to the melt and decomposition of Kp into O2 in the third stage. The ambient air quality during COVID-19 lockdowns has been improved in many cities in the world. This study is to assess the changes in persistent organic pollutants in PM2.5 during the COVID-19 lockdown in Hanoi. Individual organic species in PM2.5 ((e.g., polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs), polychlorobiphenyls (PCBs), and organochlorine pesticides (OCPs)) were measured in an urban residential area in Hanoi from before the March 10th to April 22nd, 2020, including before the partial lockdown (BL) and the partial lockdown (PL) phases. During the PL phase, the concentration of Σ14PAHs and Σ28PCBs was reduced by 38 and 52% compared with the BL period, respectively. The diagnostic ratio method implied that the sources of PAHs within the PL phase had a less effect on traffic and industrial activities than in the BL phase. The characteristic ratio method indicated that PCBs were mixed by commercial product and combustion process in both the BL and the PL periods, however, the source of PCBs in the BL phase was influenced by municipal waste incineration more than those in the PL phase. The decreasing concentration of Σ20OCPs during the partial lockdown was attributed to the restriction of human activities during the quarantine period. The results suggested that the source of OCPs was probably derived from the usage of pesticides in current and, historical degradation or the transportation of pesticides from the soil to the atmosphere. The object of this study is jet water-gas ejectors (JWGEs) in the system for ensuring fire safety of ships. The problem that was solved: in the event of a fire, in the shortest possible time, a high temperature rises in the area of the exit from the ship’s emergency room and a large amount of smoke spreads throughout the ship’s premises. These factors require immediate sealing of the emergency room, which limits the immediate access of emergency teams to the interior. Installation of a local air support system based on JWGE in the doorway could make it possible to shield thermal energy and localize smoke gases in the emergency room without sealing it to ensure prompt access of emergency teams. The main results that were achieved relate to the adequacy of theoretical studies on the processes of localization of flue gases in the emergency room without its sealing confirmed by the experimental method. The investigated problem was solved by optimizing processes: the intensity of smoke emission from the working characteristics of jet water-gas ejectors; the rate of change of the natural indicator of the weakening of the environment at the start of JWGE system; speed of reaching the required temperature from the time in the adjacent room. Special feature of the results was the formation of an air curtain, obtained by the selection of a part of high-temperature flue gases into the JWGE housing, their heat and mass exchange treatment and output back into the flow. This created conditions under which thermal energy shielding occurs with a fairly high efficiency of 85-88 %. And it was also established that the decrease in the intensity of gas exchange through the open hole, in which the JWGE works, occurs already at the 0.3 MPa regime in the fire pipeline. In this work the combustion characteristics of liquid hydrocarbons when atomized by a high speed air jet were studied, using diesel fuel as an example. This approach to spraying liquid fuel in combustion processes has a number of advantages over traditional spraying: the ability to supply fuel with a low degree of purification, reducing the chance of coking of fuel equipment. Using an atmospheric burner device with natural air supply into the mixing chamber, the dependences of the composition of intermediate and final combustion products were studied, and the flame temperature was measured at various fuel flow rates and parameters of the atomizing air jet (flow rate, temperature). A comparison of the obtained characteristics was made for equivalent modes at different temperatures of the supplied atomizer. It was found that when heated air is used as a sprayer, higher flame temperatures are ensured, which ensures more complete fuel burnout and a decrease in CO concentration in the flue gases, but at the same time, a slight increase in NOx was observed. Protection of the society from the negative consequences of the road traffic is a global challenge. The greatest challenges are related to emissions of harmful combustion products and road safety. One of the possible solutions of this challenge is purchasing and using a new, more environmentally friendly passenger car (cleaner and safer). As a more environmentally friendly passenger cars, we considered electric and autonomous passenger cars. Although these cars are more environmentally friendly, their negative feature is high purchase costs. This paper aims to create a model for determining the period of use when the decision purchase a new, more environmentally friendly passenger car instead of a new, less environmentally friendly passenger car (petrol or diesel) would be beneficial. For that purpose, we analyzed costs, emission and road safety during life cycle. The developed model was applied on real data from Great Britain. Understanding the potential effects of climate change on forest fire behavior and the resulting release of combustion products is critical for effective mitigation strategies in Greece. This study utilizes data from the MAGICC 2.4 (Model for the Assessment of Greenhouse Gas-Induced Climate Change) climate model and the SCENGEN 2.4 (SCENarioGENerator) database to assess these impacts. By manipulating various model parameters such as climate sensitivity, scenario, time period, and global climate models (GCMs) within the SCENGEN 2.4 database, we analyzed climatic trends affecting forest fire generation and evolution. The results reveal complex and nuanced findings, indicating a need for further investigation. Case studies are conducted using the FARSITE 4 (Fire Area Simulator) model, incorporating meteorological changes derived from climate trends. Simulations of two fires in East Attica, accounting for different fuel and meteorological conditions, demonstrate an increase in the rate of combustion product release. This underscores the influence of changing meteorological parameters on forest fire dynamics and highlights the importance of proactive measures to mitigate future risks. Large and downed woody fuels remaining behind a wildfire's flame front tend to burn in a smoldering regime, producing large quantities of toxic gases and particulate emissions, which deteriorates air quality and compromises human health. Smoldering burning rates are affected by fuel type and size, the amount of oxygen reaching the surface, and heat losses to the surroundings. An external wind has the dual effects of bringing fresh oxidizer to the fuel surface and porous interior, while at the same time enhancing convective cooling. In this work, a series of experiments were conducted on single and adjacent poplar dowels to investigate the effect of fuel geometry and wind speed on smoldering of woody fuels, including its burning rate and combustion products. Dowels had variable thickness (19.1 and 25.4 mm), aspect ratios, and arrangement (number of dowels and spacing between them). Using measurement of mass loss, CO, and HC production as indicators of the smoldering intensity, the results indicate that the arrangement of smoldering objects significantly affects burning rates and emissions. Specifically, spacings of 1/8 and 1/4 of the dowel thickness enhanced the smoldering process. The smoldering intensity was also enhanced by increased external wind (ranging between 0.3 m/s and 1.5 m/s), but its effect was dependent upon the spacing between the dowels. The convective losses associated with the spacing were further investigated with a simplified computational model. The simulations show that the wind significantly increases convective losses from the smoldering surfaces, which in turn may offset the increase in smoldering intensity related to the higher oxygen flux at higher wind speeds. Gallium (Ga) and germanium (Ge) critical elements have a wide range of applications and market value. Extracting critical elements from coal gangue and combustion products can alleviate pressures on primary mining resources. Understanding the transformation behavior of Ga and Ge during coal gangue combustion processes is significant for resource utilization and environmental protection. Coal gangue from Xing'an League, Inner Mongolia, was chosen to explore how combustion temperatures (600 °C to 1000 °C) and particle sizes (50, 80, 10, 140, and 200 mesh) influence Ga and Ge migration during combustion. Techniques such as ICP-MS, XRD, XRF, SEM, TG-DSC, and sequential chemical extraction were employed to analyze the transformation of minerals and to quantify the contents and occurrence forms of Ga and Ge. Smaller gangue particle sizes were associated with higher concentrations of Ga and Ge. Approximately 99.19% of Ga and Ge in coal gangue were found in the residual, organic/sulfide-bound, and metal-oxide-bound modes. High temperatures promoted element volatilization and changed the reactions and interactions between elements and minerals. As combustion temperatures rose from 600 °C to 1000 °C, Ga and Ge contents in the products declined progressively. Under high temperatures, minerals like kaolinite, illite, and pyrite in gangue converted to silicate glass phases, mullite, and hematite. Minerals like kaolinite, calcite, and pyrite melted, leading to increased cohesion and agglomeration in the products. Over 90% of Ga and Ge in the combustion products existed in the residual, organic/sulfide-bound, and metal-oxide-bound forms. Moreover, Ga was enriched in combustion products, with its content exceeding critical extraction levels. Internal combustion engines have played a crucial role in the advancement of society. Consequently, there has been a persistent need to enhance their efficiency and performance. The water-injected six-stroke engine is based on conventional four-stroke engines, producing additional power by injecting water into the hot combustion products during the expansion stroke, thereby increasing the overall engine efficiency. However, a comprehensive review that consolidates existing knowledge and identifies future research opportunities in six-stroke engine technology is lacking. This study addresses this gap by thoroughly examining the thermodynamic operation of six-stroke engines and analyzing the impact of water injection on engine performance. The review covers literature from 1994 to 2023, categorizing studies based on the modeling approach, working fluid, thermodynamic cycle, and consideration of heat transfer. Among the 18 analyzed articles, predominantly published from 2015 to 2019, half utilize analytical models, while the rest employ experimental models addressing heat transfer losses. Notably, water injection exhibits a substantial influence, manifesting as a 5.18% increase in brake power and a 1.55% enhancement in thermal efficiency, particularly with acetylene as the working fluid. Finally, a literature overview of water injection in hot gas environments within the engine cylinder was conducted in addition to a preliminary thermodynamic analysis of the Otto and Diesel cycles to compare different configurations outlined in the literature. The lack of studies, experimental setups, and non-idealized models that consider factors such as heat transfer or water evaporation during injection is evident. By critically synthesizing the available literature, this study offers valuable insights into the potential advantages, limitations, and prospects of six-stroke engine studies. To realize the utilization of peanut shell, this study investigates the combustion behavior, chemical kinetics and thermodynamic parameters of peanut shell using TGA under atmospheric air at the heating rates of 10, 20, and 30 K/min. Results indicate that increasing the heating rate leads to higher ignition, burnout, and peak temperatures, as observed in the TG/DTG curves shifting to the right. Analysis of combustion performance parameters suggest that higher heating rates can enhance combustion performances. Kinetic analysis using two model-free methods, KAS and FWO, shows that the activation energy (Eα) ranges from 93.30 to 109.65 kJ/mol for FWO and 89.72 to 103.88 kJ/mol for KAS. The data fit well with coefficient of determination values (R2) close to 1 and the mean squared error values (MSE) less than 0.006. Pre-exponential factors using FWO range from 2.19 × 106 to 8.08 × 107 s−1, and for KAS range from 9.72 × 105 to 2.25 × 107 s−1. Thermodynamic analysis indicates a low-energy barrier (≤±6 kJ/mol) between activation energy and enthalpy changes, suggesting easy reaction initiation. Furthermore, variations in enthalpy (ΔH), Gibbs free energy (ΔG), and entropy (ΔS) upon conversion (α) suggest that peanut shell combustion is endothermic and non-spontaneous, with the generation of more homogeneous or well-ordered products as combustion progresses. The biodrying technology as a pretreatment technology can overcome the limitations of cement kilns co-incineration sewage sludge (SS) on energy consumption. But the impact of SS biodried products on cement kilns and the route carbon reduction potential of biodrying + cement kilns have not been studied. In this study, SS biodrying and cement kiln co-incineration biodried product trials were conducted to highlight the matrix combustion characteristics, and the impact of biodried products on cement kilns (clinker capacity, coal consumption, and pollutant discharge). The carbon emissions of the four scenarios were assessed based on these results. The results showed that water removal rate reached 65.5 % after 11-day biodrying, and the wet-based lower heating value of the biodried product increased by 76.0 % compared with the initial matrix. Comprehensive combustibility index of the biodried product (0.745 × 10−7 %2℃−3min−2) was better than that of SS (0.433 × 10−7 %2℃−3min−2) although a portion of the organic matter was degraded. Cement kiln co-incineration of biodried products (150 t/d) resulted in per tonne of clinker saved 5.61 kg of coal due to the heat utilization efficiency of biodried products reached to 93.7 %. However, it led to an increase in the emission concentrations of NO X and SO 2. Assessment results indicated that the biodrying + cement kiln pathway reduced CO 2 emissions by 385.7 kg/t SS. Biodried products have greater potential to reduce emissions as alternative fuels than as fertilizers. This study indicated the advantages of SS biodrying + cement kiln co-incineration route. Wildfires result in the emission of large volumes of toxic smoke, which is transported hundreds of kilometers away from the fires and can have an adverse impact on soil, biota, and humans. A series of modelling experiments on pyrogenic fumigation of soil has been carried out to assess the effects of gaseous products of wildfires on soil biochemical parameters. The effects of continuous exposure to gaseous substances and periodical, repetitive effects of smoke exposure on soil have been determined. The results have been compared with a single intense smoke exposure. It was found that pyrogenic impact significantly affected the enzymatic activity of ordinary chernozem. The degree of influence depended on the duration and periodicity of smoke exposure. In all experiments, enzymes of oxidoreductase class (catalase, peroxidase, polyphenol oxidase) were more sensitive to fumigation than invertase from hydrolase class. High concentrations of toxic gases were the cause of suppressed enzymatic activity of soils. The following concentrations exceeded the maximum permissible concentrations for atmospheric air: CO 714 times, phenol (hydroxybenzene) 441 times, acetaldehyde 24100 times, formaldehyde 190 times. Accumulation of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) in soil after fumigation was revealed, the total content of PAHs was 377 ng/g. The highest values were recorded for naphthalene, where the concentration was 4.4 times higher than the maximum permissible concentration and phenanthrene, 2.8 times higher than the maximum permissible concentration. It has been found that 60-min intensive smoke affects the soil to a lesser extent than continuous and periodical ones. Indices of enzymatic activity of chernozem after such fumigation decreased by 15–33% depending on the enzyme, and after continuous and periodical by 41–84 and 31–78%, respectively. Environmental and work safety aspects necessitate a radical change in the foundry industry. Organic binder systems for foundry sand cores create toxic combustion products and are, therefore, more and more often substituted by inorganic binder systems. While providing an environmental advantage by mainly releasing water vapor, inorganic binder systems impose new challenges for the casting process. The gas release of inorganically-bound foundry cores can lead to increased gas porosity in the cast parts and thus to high scrap rates. The present work aims to gain more understanding of the gas generation and transport in inorganic sand binder systems. We developed a test stand to measure the temperature-dependent core gas release in inorganically-bound foundry cores and their gas permeability. Samples were prepared in a core blowing process and analyzed using the test stand. The measurement results are in good agreement with validation experiments and existing literature. The use of condensing heat exchangers (CHEs) in gas-fired boiler units helps cool the flue gases below the dew point. One of the issues that has to be settled in the case of CHEs installed downstream of boilers is to ensure that the flue gas removal stacks will operate without steam condensation on their inner surfaces. To protect smoke stacks against hydrate corrosion, bypassing of part of combustion products not cooled in the CHE is mainly used in practice. The article presents the results obtained from computations of the heat-transfer processes in the combustion products cooled in a CHE as they move in a reinforced concrete smoke stack fitted with clamped lining, which is protected against hydrate corrosion by bypassing. The computations are carried out for three operation modes of the 180-m high smoke stack, through which flue gases are removed from three power-generating boilers of the BKZ-420-140 NGM type installed at the Samara combined heat and power plant (CHPP), a branch of Samara PAO T Plus. The peculiarity and complexity of the computations are connected with the fact that that the flue gas's thermophysical parameters and motion velocity in the smoke stack vary during the flue gas cooling process. The parameters' variation pattern depends essentially on the fraction of gases directed in bypass of the CHE. A mathematical model and computer program are developed for computing the heat-transfer processes in flue gases moving in the smoke stack with CHEs installed downstream of the boilers and with the smoke stack protected against hydrate corrosion by the bypassing method. It has been determined that, for a 180-m high three-layer reinforced concrete smoke stack operating at an outdoor air temperature of –30°С and boilers operating at the nominal load, the fraction of bypassed gases makes 30–35%. With the boilers operating at partial loads equal to 75 and 60% of the nominal value, the fraction of bypassed gases makes 35–40 and 40–45%, respectively. The use of condensing heat exchangers in boiler units results in that the levels of temperature difference, free temperature deformation, and thermal stresses in the smoke stack's structural elements are reduced by a factor of 1.33–2.80 depending on the fraction of gases passed through the CHEs, thereby enhancing the flue gas removing smoke stack performance reliability. The focus of this paper was Jouguet detonation in an ideal gas flow in a magnetic field. A modified Hugoniot detonation equation has been obtained, taking into account the influence of the magnetic field on the detonation process and the parameters of the detonation wave. It was shown that, under the influence of a magnetic field, combustion products move away from the detonation front at supersonic speed. As the magnetic field strength increases, the speed of the detonation products also increases. The article provides an estimated substantiation of the concept of expanding the fuel and energy base and reducing the volume of greenhouse gas emissions with the joint use of organic and nuclear fuel in the structure of hybrid nuclear-thermal power plants. It is shown that the technological scheme (the production of saturated steam in a nuclear steam-producing plant - NPPU, and then overheating to the maximum achieved parameters in the thermal power industry due to organic fuel) leads to a decrease in the specific consumption of gas fuel for the production of electrical energy by 25–30 %, emissions of combustion products by 2.5 times (compared to thermal power plants), consumption of industrial water (compared to nuclear power plants) - by 1.5 times. It is indicated that it is possible to expand the fuel base of modern nuclear energy with thermal neutron reactors through the use of technologies mastered (breeder reactors) and promising (hybrid thermonuclear reactors). The fundamental advantage of the considered complex - JPPP-TPP - its feasibility in a short period of time with a significant reduction in the carbon footprint per unit of energy produced, which is an important condition for the sustainable growth of energy production while maintaining the ecological balance in the geosphere.
