1. Analysis and treatment of RO membrane fouling in sewage treatment system of thermal power plant

Abstract

After purification treatment, the circulating cooling wastewater from a certain thermal power plant was reused. However, malfunction occurred during the operation of the reverse osmosis (RO) membrane unit in the purification treatment system, resulting in a rapid increase of pressure difference between the RO sections and a decrease of water production and desalination rates. Through analysis of inlet water quality of reverse osmosis, changes in the water source of circulating cooling system, membrane element standard testing, membrane element dissection, membrane staining test, foulants burning weight loss analysis, and foulants component identification, etc., the cause of malfunction of RO membrane unit was analyzed. The results indicated that after using urban reclaimed water as influent of circulating cooling system, the concentrated wastewater from the circulating cooling system contained high levels of organic matter, calcium and magnesium ions, phosphate ions, and alkalinity, which were the main causes of reverse osmosis membrane fouling. Membrane foulants were mainly composed of inorganic phosphate fouling, with organic fouling as a secondary component, accompanied by fouling such as silicon fouling and iron fouling. Measures such as adding alkali dosing devices and non-oxidizing bactericide dosing device, repairing sulfuric acid dosing device, and thoroughly offline chemical cleaning of reverse osmosis membranes were taken to restore normal operation of the reverse osmosis system, effectively solving the problem of frequent fouling and blockage of the reverse osmosis membrane during operation.

Abstract

There is an induced or concurrent relationship between cardiovascular disease and psychological illness, which occurred and developed into Psycho-Cardiology. It is necessary to assist the treatment of cardiovascular disease from the perspective of psychology, the resulting is the Psycho-Cardiology. This article briefly summarized the research status at home and abroad about Psycho-Cardiology. Firstly, analyzing the internal mechanism and external influencing factors to establish theoretical mechanism, and determine the high incidence risk index of the Psycho-Cardiology disease. Baseline information, including age, gender, BMI, diet, smoking, alcohol consumption, physical exercise, social status, family history, comorbidity including hypertension. Hematological indicators, including ion concentration, blood cell, inflammatory factor, hormone. Biochemical indicators, including myocardial enzyme spectrum, blood glucose, blood lipid, uric acid, cysteine. Structural and functional indicators, including resting heart rate (RHR) , heart rate variability (HRV) , left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF) , left ventricular end diastolic diameter (LVDd) . These factors have a relevance between cardiovascular disease and psychological illness. Then, exploring two diagnosis models of this disease, including a traditional model of multi-axis, multi-grade, and multi-scale diagnosis methods, and a intelligent diagnosis section system based on the risk indexes. From the clinical practice, aiming to help clinicians achieve early psychological screening and accurate diagnosis of Psycho-Cardiology disease patients, and implement effective intervention measures.

3. A penalized online sequential test of heterogeneous treatment effects for generalized linear models

Abstract

Identification of heterogeneous treatment effects (HTEs) has been increasingly popular and critical in various penalized strategy decisions using the A/B testing approach, especially in the scenario of a consecutive online collection of samples. However, in high-dimensional settings, such an identification remains challenging in the sense of lack of detection power of HTEs with insufficient sample instances for each batch sequentially collected online. In this article, a novel high-dimensional test is proposed, named as the penalized online sequential test (POST), to identify HTEs and select useful covariates simultaneously under continuous monitoring in generalized linear models (GLMs), which achieves high detection power and controls the Type I error. A penalized score test statistic is developed along with an extended p-value process for the online collection of samples, and the proposed POST method is further extended to multiple online testing scenarios, where both high true positive rates and under-controlled false discovery rates are achieved simultaneously. Asymptotic results are established and justified to guarantee properties of the POST, and its performance is evaluated through simulations and analysis of real data, compared with the state-of-the-art online test methods. Our findings indicate that the POST method exhibits selection consistency and superb detection power of HTEs as well as excellent control over the Type I error, which endows our method with the capability for timely and efficient inference for online A/B testing in high-dimensional GLMs framework., Comment: 2 figures and 6 tables in main text, 3 tables in appendix

4. New Trends in Fine Arts Education in the Post-epidemic and the Implications for China-Guangzhou

Abstract

Guangzhou is an economically developed city in southern China. Its art education philosophy has always been innovative and able to blend the best of East and West, but it is also in need of a breakthrough in the COVID-19 post-epidemic. This thesis looks at the current state of art education in Guangzhou’s kindergarten through twelfth grade (K12) level and universities. It compares art education in and out of K12 schools in Guangzhou and points out that teaching children’s collages by turning waste into treasure can build environmental awareness while increasing students’ interest in learning. In addition, the teaching of environmental design in Guangzhou’s universities is constantly innovating, but it suffers from problems such as inadequate teacher deployment. Each university at different levels has its talent training objectives, and issues such as its ranking and reputation in the industry affect the employment of graduates. In the face of the sudden COVID-19 epidemic, teachers also consider whether a biophilic teaching philosophy can be embedded in teaching art at all levels in Guangzhou in the post-epidemic. While Guangzhou K12 schools and out-of-school institutions are also trying to attract parents’ and students’ attention to the art curriculum through waste to treasure and outdoor excursions, it is more important that students understand how to harmonize with nature than before the epidemic.

12. A Dynamic Model for Frequency Response Optimization in Photovoltaic Visible Light Communication

Abstract

Photovoltaic (PV) modules are recently employed in photovoltaic visible light communication (PVLC) for simultaneous energy harvesting and visible light communication. A PV-based receiver features large signal output, easy optical alignment, and self-powered operation. However, PV modules usually have a severe bandwidth limitation when used as passive photodetectors. In this paper, we systematically investigate the internal impedance dynamic of PV modules and how that affects their frequency response characteristics under different illuminances. We propose a simplified yet accurate dynamic PV mode AC detection model to capture the frequency response characteristics of a PVLC receiver. The model is validated with the impedance spectroscopy characterization methodologies. Experimental results show that a PV module's internal resistance and capacitance depend on incident illuminance, affecting PV's frequency response. The bandwidth is exacerbated under indoor environments with low illuminance levels due to the increment of internal resistance for PV modules. The RC constant can be reduced for PVLC receivers working near open-circuit voltage conditions by adding a moderate local light to decrease the internal resistance value. For practical implementation, PVLC receivers will employ a load for data recovery. We show that adjusting the forward bias conditions can simultaneously reduce the resistance and capacitance values. With the optimization of equivalent trans-impedance, the data rate of a Cadmium telluride (CdTe) PV module achieves a 3.8 times enhancement under 200 lux. We also demonstrate that the BER of a 5-Mbit/s eight-level pulse amplitude modulation (PAM8) signal can be reduced from 9.8*10-2 to 1.4*10-3 by maximizing the transimpedance gain-bandwidth product., Comment: 6 pages

26. On the Nonlinear Distortion Characterization in Photovoltaic Modules for Visible Light Communication

Abstract

Photovoltaic (PV) modules have been employed in visible light communication (VLC) for simultaneous energy harvesting and data reception. A PV-based receiver features easy optical alignment and self-powered operation. It is commonly assumed that PV modules in VLC have a linear optical-electrical response, which is generally true under high illumination levels. This paper will illustrate the exacerbated PV's nonlinear distortion when under typical indoor illumination. The nonlinearity of a PV module for different numbers of PV cells is also characterized. We investigated the transmission performance of a 1-Mbit/s PAM4 signal under different illuminance. Experimental results show that the bit-error rate (BER) first decreases and then increases with the increasing illuminance. Thus, an optimal illuminance to minimize BER exists. In addition, we demonstrated two distortion mitigation methods, namely localized distortion compensation lighting and post-distortion compensation.
