Small nucleic acid drugs, composed of nucleotides, represent a novel class of pharmaceuticals that differ significantly from conventional small molecule and antibody-based therapeutics. These agents function by selectively targeting specific genes or their corresponding messenger RNAs (mRNAs), further modulating gene expression and regulating translation-related processes. Prominent examples within this category include antisense oligonucleotides (ASO), small interfering RNAs (siRNAs), microRNAs (miRNAs), and aptamers. The emergence of small nucleic acid drugs as a focal point in contemporary biopharmaceutical research is attributed to their remarkable specificity, facile design, abbreviated development cycles, expansive target spectrum, and prolonged activity. Overcoming challenges such as poor stability, immunogenicity, and permeability issues have been addressed through the integration of chemical modifications and the development of drug delivery systems. This review provides an overview of the current status and prospective trends in small nucleic acid drug development. Commencing with a historical context, we introduce the primary classifications and mechanisms of small nucleic acid drugs. Subsequently, we delve into the advantages of the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approved drugs and mainly discuss the challenges encountered during their development. Apart from researching chemical modification and delivery system that efficiently deliver and enrich small nucleic acid drugs to target tissues, promoting endosomal escape is a critical scientific question and important research direction in siRNA drug development. Future directions in this field will prioritize addressing these challenges to facilitate the clinical transformation of small nucleic acid drugs.

Starch was used as raw material and anthocyanins were used as functional substances. Intelligent indicator films of starch nanofibers were prepared by electrospinning method, and their structure and properties were studied. The results showed that the fiber diameter and the water contact Angle of the indicator films increased with the increase of anthocyanin loading. The crystal state of the indicated film determined its mechanical properties. When the anthocyanin was added to more than 10%, the fracture stress of the indicated film was higher, reaching 12.0MPa, but the elongation at break reduced to 5.8%. When anthocyanins were added, the thermal stability of the indicator film was improved. The molecular structure of starch and anthocyanin did not changed in the process of electrospinning. The indicator function of the indicator film was mainly realized through the color change caused by the change of ionizing state of phenolic hydroxyl group in anthocyanin. The antioxidant function was due to the reducibility provided by phenolic hydroxyl group. These results proved that the intelligent indicator film of amyloanthocyanin had the good indicator property and could be used to monitor food quality change.

Abstract Although 3D reconstruction has been widely used in many fields as a key component of environment perception, existing technologies still have the potential for further improvement in 3D scene reconstruction. We propose an improved reconstruction algorithm based on the MVSNet network architecture. To glean richer pixel details from images, we suggest deploying a DE module integrated with a residual framework, which supplants the prevailing feature extraction mechanism. The DE module uses ECA-Net and dilated convolution to expand the receptive field range, performing feature splicing and fusion through the residual structure to retain the global information of the original image. Moreover, harnessing attention mechanisms refines the 3D cost volume's regularization process, bolstering the integration of information across multi-scale feature volumes, consequently enhancing depth estimation precision. When assessed our model using the DTU dataset, findings highlight the network's 3D reconstruction scoring a completeness (comp) of 0.411 mm and an overall quality of 0.418 mm. This performance is higher than that of traditional methods and other deep learning-based methods. Additionally, the visual representation of the point cloud model exhibits marked advancements. Trials on the Blended MVS dataset signify that our network exhibits commendable generalization prowess.

ABSTRACT: Outbreaks of short beak and dwarfism syndrome (SBDS), caused by a novel goose parvovirus (NGPV), have occurred in China since 2015. The NGPV, a single-stranded DNA virus, is thought to be vertically transmitted. However, the mechanism of NGPV immune evasion remains unclear. In this study, we investigated the impact of NGPV infection on the Cyclic GMP–AMP synthase (cGAS)–stimulator of interferon genes (STING) signaling pathway in duck embryonic fibroblast (DEF) cells. Our findings demonstrate that NGPV infection stimulates the mRNA expression of cGAS but results in weak IFN-β induction. NGPV impedes the expression of IFN-β and downstream interferon-stimulated genes, thereby reducing the secretion of IFN-β induced by interferon-stimulating DNA (ISD) and poly (I: C). RNA-seq results show that NGPV infection downregulates interferon mRNA expression while enhancing the mRNA expression of inflammatory factors. Additionally, the results of viral protein over-expression indicate that VP1 exhibits a remarkable ability to inhibit IFN-β expression compared to other viral proteins. Results indicated that only the intact VP1 protein could inhibit the expression of IFN-β, while the truncated proteins VP1U and VP2 do not possess such characteristics. The immunoprecipitation experiment showed that both VP1 and VP2 could interact with IRF7 protein, while VP1U does not. In summary, our findings indicate that NGPV infection impairs the host's innate immune response by potentially modulating the expression and secretion of interferons and interferon-stimulating factors via IRF7 molecules, which are regulated by the VP1 protein.

Abstract Bandpass filters with high frequency and wide bandwidth are indispensable parts of the fifth-generation telecommunication technologies, and currently, they are mainly based on surface and bulk acoustic wave resonators. Owing to its high mechanical strength, excellent stability at elevated temperatures, good thermal conductivity, and compatibility with complementary metal-oxide-semiconductor technology, aluminum nitride (AlN) becomes the primary piezoelectric material for high-frequency resonators. This review briefly introduces the structures and key performance parameters of the acoustic resonators. The common filter topologies are also discussed. In particular, research progresses in the piezoelectric AlN layer, electrodes, and substrates of the resonators are elaborated. Increasing the electromechanical coupling constant is the main concern for the AlN film. To synthesize AlN in single-crystalline or poly-crystalline with a high intensity of (0002) orientation, and alloy the AlN with other elements are two effective approaches. For the substrates and bottom electrodes, lattice and thermal expansion mismatch, and surface roughness are critical for the synthesis of a high-crystal-quality piezoelectric layer. The electrodes with low electrical resistance, large acoustic-impedance mismatch to the piezoelectric layer, and low density are ideal to reduce insertion loss. Based on the research progress, several possible research directions in the AlN-based filters are suggested at the end of the paper.

A challenge in optical phased arrays (OPAs) is to achieve single-lobe emission using densely spaced emitters without incurring inter-waveguide optical crosstalk. Here, we propose to heuristically optimize the amplitude and phase of each grating antenna in an OPA to correct for optical non-idealities, including fabrication variations and inter-waveguide crosstalk. This method was applied to a silicon photonic integrated circuit with 1 mm-long gratings at 775 nm spacing for operation in a wavelength range of 1450–1650 nm. We achieved a wide two-dimensional beam-steering range of 110° × 28°, evaluated over a 127° × 47° field-of-view (FOV). Within this FOV, we measured an average sidelobe suppression of 8.2 dB and focused on average, 34.5 % of the emitted power into the main lobe. We achieved a peak sidelobe suppression of 14.5 dB and 50 % of the power concentrated in the main lobe. The approach is suitable for applications that require alias-free out-of-plane emission.

Recent studies have shown that microRNA-16-5p (miR-16-5p) plays a crucial role in the pathological mechanism of vascular calcification. Nevertheless, the expression profile of miR-16-5p in maintenance hemodialysis (MHD) patients who are predisposed to vascular calcification remains unknown. This study aims to investigate the potential associations between calcification risk and serum miR-16-5p expression among MHD patients. This cross-sectional study involved 132 MHD patients from the Dialysis Center of Beijing Friendship Hospital between 1 January 2019 and 31 December 2020. The degree of calcification in MHD patients was assessed using the Abdominal aortic calcification (AAC) score, and miR-16-5p expression was quantified using quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction (qRT-PCR) with the 2–ΔΔCT method. Statistical analyses, including spearman correlation, linear regression and logistic regression analysis were used to explore the associations between laboratory parameters and AAC score. Calcifications were observed in 79(59.80%) patients. The linear regression showed a one-quartile decrease in miR-16-5p expression led to a significant increase in the AAC score by 5.336 (95% CI: 2.670–10.662, p = 0.000). Multivariate logistic regression analyses revealed that decreased miR-16-5p expression, reduced serum urea nitrogen, elevated white blood cell count, and longer dialysis vintage were significantly associated with an increased incidence of vascular calcification. The Area Under the Curve (AUC) of the Receiver Operating Characteristic (ROC) of the miR-16-5p-based logistic regression model was 0.842 (95% CI: 0.771–0.913, p = 0.000). There was an independent association between miR-16-5p expression and calcification degree. Lower miR-16-5p expression levels seem to be a potential risk factor of vascular calcification in MHD patients.

Vascular calcification (VC) is highly prevalent in patients undergoing hemodialysis, and is a significant contributor to the mortality rate. Therefore, biomarkers that can accurately predict the onset of VC are urgently required. Our study aimed to investigate serum miR-15a levels in relation to VC and to develop a predictive model for VC in patients undergoing hemodialysis at the Beijing Friendship Hospital hemodialysis center between 1 January 2019 and 31 December 2020. The patients were categorized into two groups: VC and non-VC. Logistic regression (LR) models were used to examine the risk factors associated with VC. Additionally, we developed an miR-15a-based nomogram based on the results of the multivariate LR analysis. A total of 138 patients under hemodialysis were investigated (age: 58.41 ± 13.22 years; 54 males). VC occurred in 79 (57.2%) patients. Multivariate LR analysis indicated that serum miR-15a, age, and WBC count were independent risk factors for VC. A miR-15a-based nomogram was developed by incorporating the following five predictors: age, dialysis vintage, predialysis nitrogen, WBC count, and miR-15a. The receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve had an area under the curve of 0.921, diagnostic threshold of 0.396, sensitivity of 0.722, and specificity of 0.932, indicating that this model had good discrimination. This study concluded that serum miR-15a levels, age, and white blood cell (WBC) count are independent risk factors for VC. A nomogram constructed by integrating these risk factors can be used to predict the risk of VC in patients undergoing hemodialysis.

Background: Fullerenes C60 shows great potential for drug transport. C60 generates large amounts of singlet oxygen upon photoexcitation, which has a significant inhibitory effect on tumor cells, so the photosensitive properties of C60 were exploited for photodynamic therapy of tumors by laser irradiation. Methods: In this study, C60-NH2 was functionalized by introducing amino acids on the surface of C60, coupled with 5-FU to obtain C60 amino acid-derived drugs (C60AF, C60GF, C60LF), and activated photosensitive drugs (C60AFL, C60GFL, C60LFL) were obtained by laser irradiation. The C60 nano-photosensitive drugs were characterized in various ways, and the efficacy and safety of C60 nano-photosensitive drugs were verified by cellular experiments and animal experiments. Bioinformatics methods and cellular experiments were used to confirm the photosensitive drug targets and verify the therapeutic targets with C60AF. Results: Photosensitised tumor-targeted drug delivery effectively crosses cell membranes, leads to more apoptotic cell death, and provides higher anti-tumor efficacy and safety in vitro and in vivo colorectal cancer pharmacodynamic assays compared to free 5-FU.C60 photosensitized drug promotes tumor killing by inhibiting the colorectal cancer FLOR1 tumor protein target, with no significant toxic effects on normal organs. Conclusion: C60 photosensitized drug delivery systems are expected to improve efficacy and reduce side effects in the future treatment of colorectal cancer. Further and better development and design of drugs and vectors for colorectal cancer therapy.

Abstract Background With the decline of cognitive function in vascular cognitive impairment, the burden on the family and society will increase. Therefore, early identification of vascular mild cognitive impairment (VaMCI) is crucial. The focus of early identification of VaMCI is on the attention of risk factors. Therefore, this study aimed to investigate the relationship between diabetes and VaMCI among the Chinese, hoping to predict the risk of VaMCI by diabetes and to move the identification of vascular cognitive impairment forward. Methods We collected data from seven clinical centers and nine communities in China. All participants were over 50 years of age and had cognitive complaints. We collected basic information of the participants, and cognitive function was professionally assessed by the Montreal Cognitive Assessment scale. Finally, logistic regression analysis was used to analyze the correlation between each factor and VaMCI. Results A total of 2020 participants were included, including 1140 participants with VaMCI and 880 participants with normal cognition. In univariate logistic regression analysis, age, heavy smoking, and diabetes had a positive correlation with VaMCI. At the same time, being married, high education, and light smoking had a negative correlation with VaMCI. After correction, only diabetes (OR = 1.04, 95% CI: 1.01–1.09, p = 0.05) had a positive correlation with VaMCI, and high education (OR = 0.60, 95% CI:.45–.81, p = 0.001) had a negative correlation with VaMCI. Conclusion In our study, we found that diabetes had a positive correlation with VaMCI, and high education had a negative correlation with VaMCI. Therefore, early identification and timely intervention of diabetes may reduce the risk of VaMCI and achieve early prevention of VaMCI.

Immunostimulatory antibody conjugates (ISACs) as a promising new generation of targeted therapeutic antibody-drug conjugates (ADCs), that not only activate innate immunity but also stimulate adaptive immunity, providing a dual therapeutic effect to eliminate tumor cells. However, several ISACs are still in the early stages of clinical development or have already failed. Therefore, it is crucial to design ISACs more effectively to overcome their limitations, including high toxicity, strong immunogenicity, long development time, and poor pharmacokinetics. This review aims to summarize the composition and function of ISACs, incorporating current design considerations and ongoing clinical trials. Additionally, the review delves into the current issues with ISACs and potential solutions, such as adjusting the drug-antibody ratio (DAR) to improve the bioavailability of ISACs. By leveraging the affinity and bioavailability-enhancing properties of bispecific antibodies, the utility between antibodies and immunostimulatory agents can be balanced. Commonly used immunostimulatory agents may induce systemic immune reactions, and BTK (Bruton's tyrosine kinase) inhibitors can regulate immunogenicity. Finally, the concept of grafting ADC's therapeutic principles is simple, but the combination of payload, linker, and targeted functional molecules is not a simple permutation and combination problem. The development of conjugate drugs faces more complex pharmacological and toxicological issues. Standing on the shoulders of ADC, the development and application scenarios of ISAC are endowed with broader space.

Abstract In brain, the striatum is a heterogenous region involved in reward and goal-directed behaviors. Striatal dysfunction is linked to psychiatric disorders, including opioid use disorder (OUD). Striatal subregions are divided based on neuroanatomy, each with unique roles in OUD. In OUD, the dorsal striatum is involved in altered reward processing, formation of habits, and development of negative affect during withdrawal. Using single nuclei RNA-sequencing, we identified both canonical (e.g., dopamine receptor subtype) and less abundant cell populations (e.g., interneurons) in human dorsal striatum. Pathways related to neurodegeneration, interferon response, and DNA damage were significantly enriched in striatal neurons of individuals with OUD. DNA damage markers were also elevated in striatal neurons of opioid-exposed rhesus macaques. Sex-specific molecular differences in glial cell subtypes associated with chronic stress were found in OUD, particularly female individuals. Together, we describe different cell types in human dorsal striatum and identify cell type-specific alterations in OUD.

[Objective] This study aimed to explore the potential damage of non-grain conversion of cultivated land on soil health, and provide a scientific basis for evaluating the impact of non-grain conversion on land productivity and ecological functions. [Methods] 80 surface soil samples were randomly collected from six types of non-grain conversion land, including facility vegetable field, orchard, poplar forest, grassland, highway landscape forest, and fallow land, and the control farmland in the rural-urban fringe area of Xuzhou City through field survey, sampling analysis, model evaluation, and statistical analysis. A total of 23 indicators of soil physical, chemical, and biological properties, as well as heavy metal pollution were measured to construct the cultivated land health assessment model, to explore the impact of non-grain conversion on land productivity and soil health. [Results] The results show that: (1) Non-grain conversion significantly changed soil physio-chemical and biological characteristics. The activities of cellulose disaccharide hydrolase, alkaline phosphatase, and bacterial diversity index in non-grain conversion soil were significantly lower than those in the soil of the control site (P < 0.05). The soil organic matter content (27.92-36.33 g·kg-1), total phosphorus (0.89-1.54 g·kg-1), available phosphorus (186.82-307.01 mg·kg-1), available potassium (199.09-305.03 mg·kg-1), and total nitrogen and nitrate nitrogen content in facility vegetable plots were the highest, and there were significant differences (P < 0.05) compared to the other five non-grain conversion land use types; (2) Compared to the farmland control site, the six types of non-grain conversion land use have led to some imbalance of different soil functions including productivity, water retention and purification, carbon sequestration, nutrient cycling, and biodiversity, even resulting in a suboptimal health state; (3) The structural equation model fitting result shows that soil nutrients, enzyme activity, biodiversity, and heavy metal pollution index dominated the soil health differentiation of non-grain conversion sites. [Conclusion] Non-grain conversion had an impact on cultivated land health, while there were considerable differences in health damage among different land uses. The results provide some reference for targeted management of non-grain conversion of farmland and safeguarding food security.

The small-signal S parameters of the fabricated double-finger gate AlGaN/GaN high electron mobility transistors (HEMTs) were measured at various direct current quiescent operating points (DCQOPs). Under active bias conditions, small-signal equivalent circuit (SSEC) parameters such as Rs and Rd, and intrinsic parameters were extracted. Utilizing fT and the SSEC parameters, the effective electron velocity (νe−eff) and intrinsic electron velocity (νe−int) corresponding to each gate bias (VGS) were obtained. Under active bias conditions, the influence mechanism of VGS on νe−eff was systematically studied, and an expression was established that correlates νe−eff, νe−int, and bias-dependent parasitic resistances. Through the analysis of the main scattering mechanisms in AlGaN/GaN HEMTs, it has been discovered that the impact of VGS on νe−eff should be comprehensively analyzed from the aspects of νe−int and parasitic resistances. On the one hand, changes in VGS influence the intensity of polar optical phonon (POP) scattering and polarization Coulomb field (PCF) scattering, which lead to changes in νe−int dependent on VGS. The trend of νe−int with changes in VGS plays a dominant role in determining the trend of νe−eff with changes in VGS. On the other hand, both POP scattering and PCF scattering affect νe−eff through their impact on parasitic resistance. Since there is a difference in the additional scattering potential corresponding to the additional polarization charges (APC) between the gate-source/drain regions and the region under the gate, the mutual effects of PCF scattering on the under-gate electron system and the gate-source/drain electron system should be considered when adjusting the PCF scattering intensity through device structure optimization to improve linearity. This study contributes to a new understanding of the electron transport mechanisms in AlGaN/GaN HEMTs and provides a novel theoretical basis for improving device performance.

Investigating the aerodynamic performance and wake characteristics of wind farms under different levels of wake effects is crucial for optimizing wind farm layouts and improving power generation efficiency. The Large Eddy Simulation (LES)–actuator line model (ALM) method is widely used to predict the power generation efficiency of wind farms composed of multiple turbines. This study employs the LES-ALM method to numerically investigate the aerodynamic performance and wake characteristics of a single NREL 5 MW horizontal-axis wind turbine and three such turbines under different wake interaction conditions. For the single turbine case, the results obtained using the LES-ALM method were compared with the existing literature, showing good agreement and confirming its reliability for single turbine scenarios. For the three-turbine wake field problem, considering the aerodynamic performance differences under three cases, the results indicate that spacing has a minor impact on the power coefficient and thrust coefficient of the middle turbine but a significant impact on the downstream turbine. For staggered three-turbine arrangements, unilateral turbulent inflow to the downstream turbine causes significant fluctuations in thrust and torque, while bilateral turbulent inflow leads to more stable thrust and torque. The presence of two upstream turbines causes an acceleration effect at the inflow region of the downstream single turbine, significantly increasing its power coefficient. The findings of this study can provide methodological references for reducing wake effects and optimizing the layout of wind farms.

BackgroundTyrosine kinase inhibitors (TKIs) contribute to the treatment of patients with anaplastic thyroid cancer (ATC). Although prospective clinical studies of TKIs exhibit limited efficacy, whether ATC patients benefit from TKI treatment in real-world clinical practice may enlighten future explorations. Therefore, we conducted this effective analysis based on real-world retrospective studies to illustrate the efficacy of TKI treatment in ATC patients.MethodsWe systematically searched the online databases on September 03, 2023. Survival curves were collected and reconstructed to summarize the pooled curves. Responses were analyzed by using the “meta” package. The primary endpoints were progression-free survival (PFS), overall survival (OS), objective response rate (ORR), and disease control rate (DCR).Results12 studies involving 227 patients were enrolled in the study. Therapeutic strategies included: anlotinib, lenvatinib, dabrafenib plus trametinib, vemurafenib, pembrolizumab plus dabrafenib and trametinib, pembrolizumab plus lenvatinib, pembrolizumab plus trametinib, and sorafenib. The pooled median OS and PFS were 6.37 months (95% CI 4.19-10.33) and 5.50 months (95% CI 2.17-12.03). The integrated ORR and DCR were 32% (95% CI 23%-41%) and 40% (95% CI 12%-74%).ConclusionIn real-world clinical practice, ATC patients could benefit from TKI therapy. In future studies, more basic experiments and clinical explorations are needed to enhance the effects of TKIs in the treatment of patients with ATC.

With the increasing complexity of hardware design, verification has become the difficulty of chip design. In order to effectively shorten the overall working time of the design process, it is necessary to work out a method to quickly find design errors in the verification that takes up a lot of time in the design. The design under test is an ARM Chisel compatible with the ARM V4 instruction set architecture (ISA) processor model. The processor model is built with a new hardware language Chisel and is a highly complex hardware design. Based on this embedded processor model, ①a random instruction generator supporting all instructions of the ARM V4 ISA architecture is designed to increase the speed of generating test stimuli; ②based on the characteristics of the new construction language Chisel, designed for the processor model under test four verification stages: primary verification at the Chisel level, rapid verification of coverage, direct test verification and verification of complex applications, to ensure that the expected coverage is achieved; ③built in the Chisel environment and Verilog environment based on the embedded processor model Test platform. The test platform can quickly and accurately find errors and locate errors while collecting coverage, which improves the verification speed. Finally, the FPGA acceleration method is used to accelerate the verification of large-scale application programs and shorten the verification cycle.

The edge detection method based on the magnetic gradient tensor data plays an important role in magnetic exploration because it is free from geomagnetic interference and contains more abundant information. This paper proposes a new anomaly edge detection method using the magnetic gradient tensor components. The model is established to compare with other methods, such as directional total horizontal derivative (THDz), analytical signal (AS), tilt angle, theta map, and so on, under conditions of vertical magnetization, oblique magnetization, and noise interference. Through the study of the anomaly distribution of the rectangular model, it is observed that the edge detection method proposed in this paper is nearly impervious to noise interference, exhibits strong anti-interference capabilities, delivers a high-quality boundary identification effect, and provides greater accuracy in anomaly edges with minimal error. When multiple anomalous bodies are present, the edge detection results are less susceptible to interference from each other, resulting in higher resolution. The efficiency of the algorithm is demonstrated by real magnetic data from some study areas in Jiangxi Province, China. The experimental results show that the proposed method is more precise and accurate than the total horizontal derivative, analytical signal, tilt angle, and theta map methods.

With the rapid development of a social economy, the yearly increase in air conditioning load in the winter and summer seasons may bring serious challenges to the safe and economic operation of the power grid during the peak period of electricity consumption. So, how we reasonably adjust the set temperature of air conditioning so as to cut down the load during peak periods is very important. In this paper, considering the thermal inertia of air-conditioned buildings and the adaptability of human thermal comfort to temperature changes, the air conditioning load is regarded as virtual energy storage, the air conditioning temperature adjustment range for different users is determined based on the adaptive thermal comfort model of different geographic locations and climatic conditions, and a compensation mechanism is set up based on air conditioning users’ level of participation. Then, an optimal scheduling strategy for a microgrid was constructed with the objectives of user satisfaction, carbon emissions, and microgrid operation benefits, as well as regulating the users’ electricity consumption behavior, and the strategy was solved by using a multi-objective JAYA algorithm. Finally, winter and summer are used as case studies to analyze the results, which demonstrate that regulating the virtual energy storage of air conditioning can effectively improve the economy and environmental friendliness of a microgrid operation and reduce the cost of electricity consumption for the users, taking into account the comfort of the users.

Abstract Background The epidemic of overweight and obesity has become a worldwide public health problem. Cardiometabolic diseases may originate in childhood. We investigated the association between percent body fat (PBF) measured by the bioelectrical impedance assay and cardiometabolic risk (CMR) in pediatrics. Methods This cross‐sectional study involved 3819 subjects (6–17 years old) in Shanghai. We assessed the association between PBF and body mass index (BMI) with multiple CMR factors. We examined the risk for cardiometabolic abnormalities attributable to overweight and obesity based on age‐ and sex‐specific PBF Z‐scores and BMI Z‐scores, respectively. Multi-view stereo based on learning is a critical task in three-dimensional reconstruction, enabling the effective inference of depth maps and the reconstruction of fine-grained scene geometry. However, the results obtained by current popular 3D reconstruction methods are not precise, and achieving high-accuracy scene reconstruction remains challenging due to the pervasive impact of feature extraction and the poor correlation between cost and volume. In addressing these issues, we propose a cascade deep residual inference network to enhance the efficiency and accuracy of multi-view stereo depth estimation. This approach builds a cost-volume pyramid from coarse to fine, generating a lightweight, compact network to improve reconstruction results. Specifically, we introduce the omni-dimensional dynamic atrous spatial pyramid pooling (OSPP), a multiscale feature extraction module capable of generating dense feature maps with multiscale contextual information. The feature maps encoded by the OSPP module can generate dense point clouds without consuming significant memory. Furthermore, to alleviate the issue of feature mismatch in cost volume regularization, we propose a normalization-based 3D attention module. The 3D attention module aggregates crucial information within the cost volume across the dimensions of channel, spatial, and depth. Through extensive experiments on benchmark datasets, notably DTU, we found that the OD-MVSNet model outperforms the baseline model by approximately 1.4% in accuracy loss, 0.9% in completeness loss, and 1.2% in overall loss, demonstrating the effectiveness of our module.

LaAlO3/SrTiO3 heterojunction field-effect transistors (HFETs) were fabricated. Using a combination of measured current–voltage (I–V) output curves and gate-source capacitance–voltage (C–V) characteristic curves for the fabricated LaAlO3/SrTiO3 HFETs, and considering scattering mechanisms for longitudinal optical phonon, interface rough, electron-electron (E-E), acoustic phonon, and polarized Coulomb field (PCF), the channel electron mobility of LaAlO3/SrTiO3 HFETs has been calculated and analyzed. The results showed that PCF scattering is a significant carrier scattering mechanism in LaAlO3/SrTiO3 HFETs. The heterostructure of the LaAlO3/SrTiO3 system has strong polarization characteristics. This paper is the first to demonstrate that PCF scattering is a significant carrier scattering mechanism in LaAlO3/SrTiO3 HFETs, following GaN HFETs, thus demonstrating that LaAlO3/SrTiO3 HFETs also have PCF scattering effect.

ABSTRACTOomycetes are fungus-like eukaryotic microorganisms which can cause catastrophic diseases in many plants. Successful infection of oomycetes depends highly on their effector proteins that are secreted into plant cells to subvert plant immunity. Thus, systematic identification of effectors from the oomycete proteomes remains an initial but crucial step in understanding plant–pathogen relationships. However, the number of experimentally identified oomycete effectors is still limited. Currently, only a few bioinformatics predictors exist to detect potential effectors, and their prediction performance needs to be improved. Here, we used the sequence embeddings from a pre-trained large protein language model (ProtTrans) as input and developed a support vector machine-based method called POOE for predicting oomycete effectors. POOE could achieve a highly accurate performance with an area under the precision-recall curve of 0.804 (area under the receiver operating characteristic curve = 0.893, accuracy = 0.874, precision = 0.777, recall = 0.684, and specificity = 0.936) in the fivefold cross-validation, considerably outperforming various combinations of popular machine learning algorithms and other commonly used sequence encoding schemes. A similar prediction performance was also observed in the independent test. Compared with the existing oomycete effector prediction methods, POOE provided very competitive and promising performance, suggesting that ProtTrans effectively captures rich protein semantic information and dramatically improves the prediction task. We anticipate that POOE can accelerate the identification of oomycete effectors and provide new hints to systematically understand the functional roles of effectors in plant–pathogen interactions. Peptide–drug conjugates (PDCs) are the next generation of targeted therapeutics drug after antibody–drug conjugates (ADCs), with the core benefits of enhanced cellular permeability and improved drug selectivity. Two drugs are now approved for market by US Food and Drug Administration (FDA), and in the last two years, the pharmaceutical companies have been developing PDCs as targeted therapeutic candidates for cancer, coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), metabolic diseases, and so on. The therapeutic benefits of PDCs are significant, but poor stability, low bioactivity, long research and development time, and slow clinical development process as therapeutic agents of PDC, how can we design PDCs more effectively and what is the future direction of PDCs? This review summarises the components and functions of PDCs for therapeutic, from drug target screening and PDC design improvement strategies to clinical applications to improve the permeability, targeting, and stability of the various components of PDCs. This holds great promise for the future of PDCs, such as bicyclic peptide‒toxin coupling or supramolecular nanostructures for peptide-conjugated drugs. The mode of drug delivery is determined according to the PDC design and current clinical trials are summarised. The way is shown for future PDC development.

A detailed experimental study of ethanol spray swirling flames was performed in an axial bluff body stabilized burner. The characteristics of the non-reacting and reacting sprays were recorded by particle imaging velocimetry (PIV) and planar laser-induced fluorescence (PLIF) of the OH radical. A few typical flames with different structures (outer-side-flame-lifting, stable, and near-blow-off) were compared and analyzed. The parameters of the spray, including the spray half-angle (α) and droplet number density (nd), are quantified, and it has been found the flame structure and stability were strongly correlated with the droplet distribution. Several parameters of the flow field, such as velocity magnitude (|U| vorticity (ωz), and turbulent kinetic energy (TKE), are quantitively analyzed, and it is observed that the local strain rate rose as the air flow rate increased, which is not conducive to local flame stability. Regarding the flame, quantities such as progress variable (), flame height (Lf), lift–off height (hlf), and symmetry factor (Snd and S) are calculated, and it can be observed that the flame symmetry keeps worsening when approaching blow–off, and the inner flame branch exhibits a worse stabilization than the outer one. Our comprehensive investigations offer a deeper understanding of stable combustion in such two–phase flames.

The accurate control of the endpoint in converter steelmaking is of great significance and value for energy saving, emission reduction, and steel quality improvement. The key to endpoint control lies in accurately predicting the carbon content and temperature. Converter steelmaking is a dynamic process with a large fluctuation of samples, and traditional ensemble learning methods ignore the differences among the query samples and use all the sub-models to predict. The different performances of each sub-model lead to the performance degradation of ensemble learning. To address this issue, we propose a soft sensor method based on multi-cluster dynamic adaptive selection (MC-DAS) ensemble learning for converter steelmaking endpoint carbon content and temperature prediction. First, to ensure the diversity of the ensemble learning base model, we propose a clustering algorithm with different data partition characteristics to construct a pool of diverse base models. Second, a model adaptive selection strategy is proposed, which involves constructing diverse similarity regions for individual query samples and assessing the model’s performance in these regions to identify the most suitable model and weight combination for each respective query sample. Compared with the traditional ensemble learning method, the simulation results of actual converter steelmaking process data show that the prediction accuracy of carbon content within ±0.02% error range reaches 92.8%, and temperature within ±10°C error range reaches 91.6%.

Background: Geniposide, as a pharmacologically bioactive component, is derived from a classic and common Chinese herb, Gardenia jasminoides Ellis. Geniposide has been shown to be effective for treating I/R injury in recent studies. Current effectively pharmaceutical treatments are scarce, and treatment based on geniposide may become a novel option. As far as we know, this research is the initial systematic evaluation of the protective effects of geniposide in I/R injury. Aim of the study: This study is engrossed in evaluating the mechanism of action of geniposide in I/R injury through a preclinical systematic review with meta-analysis and network pharmacology. Materials and methods: We built a systematic review which provided a view of effect and mechanism of geniposide for I/R injury. Based on seven databases, an open-ended search from their inception to August 31st, 2022, was conducted. Animal studies on the effects of geniposide in I/R injury were considered. The data was analyzed using Review Manager 5.3, and bias was assessed using the CAMARADES 10-item scale. 13 articles including 279 animals were selected finally. And network pharmacology was joined to elucidate the mechanism. Results: According to the meta-analysis, in I/R injury, geniposide can attenuate cardiomyocytes viability and the size of MI, decrease the volume of cerebral infraction and neurological score, decrease serum ALT and AST activity, and downregulated serum Cr and BUN. The review found that geniposide protects against I/R injury by inhibiting apoptosis, oxidation, inflammation and improvement of autophagy and mitochondrial respiration, which is consistent with the results of the network pharmacology screening. Conclusion: This preclinical systematic review including meta-analysis and network pharmacology, which was the first one summarizing the relationship between geniposide and ischemia diseases, shows a novel therapy for I/R injury and appears an enticing implication of geniposide in I/R injury, and further research is looked forward. Given the restricted quantity of included researches and the unclear risk of bias of the studies, we should interpret the results with caution.

Production relations must adapt to the development of productivity. Simultaneously, the prevalence and burden of chronic diseases are becoming increasingly severe, leveraging digital technology to innovate chronic disease management model is essential.MethodsThe model was built to cover experts in a number of fields, including administrative officials, public health experts, information technology staff, clinical experts, general practitioners, nurses, metrologists. Integration of multiple big data platforms such as General Practitioner Contract Platform, Integrated Community Multimorbidity Management System and Municipal and District-Level Health Information Comprehensive Platform. This study fully analyzes the organizational structure, participants, service objects, facilities and equipment, digital technology, operation process, etc., required for new model in the era of big data.ResultsBased on information technology, we build Integrated Community Multimorbidity Care Model (ICMCM). This model is based on big data, is driven by “technology + mechanism,” and uses digital technology as a tool to achieve the integration of services, technology integration, and data integration, thereby providing patients with comprehensive people-centered services. In order to promote the implementation of the ICMCM, Shanghai has established an integrated chronic disease management information system, clarified the role of each module and institution, and achieved horizontal and vertical integration of data and services. Moreover, we adopt standardized service processes and accurate blood pressure and blood glucose measurement equipment to provide services for patients and upload data in real time. On the basis of Integrated Community Multimorbidity Care Model, a platform and index system have been established, and the platform's multidimensional cross-evaluation and indicators are used for management and visual display.ConclusionsThe Integrated Community Multimorbidity Care Model guides chronic disease management in other countries and regions. We have utilized models to achieve a combination of services and management that provide a grip on chronic disease management.

The ecological environment of mining areas in the Loess Plateau is extraordinary fragile, so it is crucial to achieve the carbon neutral vision to scientifically understand the mechanism and potential of carbon sequestration and sink enhancement in ecological restoration of mining areas in the Loess Plateau. Therefore, it is necessary to explore the key processes of carbon sink formation, the adaptability and resilience of restoration, and the potential of increasing carbon sink in the ecological restoration of the mining area in the Loess Plateau, as well as reveal the stability mechanism of the carbon pool in the reclaimed soil of the mining area. Finally, the key technologies of carbon fixation and sink enhancement in the ecological restoration of the mining area are clarified and elucidated. The results showed that: ① The critical processes of carbon sink formation in ecological restoration of mining areas in the Loess Plateau included plant photosynthetic carbon allocation, soil carbon sequestration, microbial carbon sequestration, soil respiration and so on; ② The ecological restoration adaptability of the mining areas in the Loess Plateau generally presented a trend of high in the southeast and low in the northwest, while the areas with poor adaptability were mainly distributed at the border between northern Shanxi and Inner Mongolia, as well as between central Ningxia and Inner Mongolia. The order of ecological resilience of typical mining areas was shown as follows: Mixed forest (43.2%-100.0%) > Broad-leaved forest (49.2%-83.2%) > Coniferous forest (47.9%-76.5%) > Grassland (39.1%-70.7%) > Shrub grassland (43.0%-69.0%). There was a positive correlation between the remediation years and soil carbon sink potential. The highest carbon sink potential generally occurred at 10-15 years of restoration. The mixed forests spent the longest ecological restoration time, but possessed the largest carbon sequestration potential; ③ The stability mechanism of reclaimed soil carbon pool was related to litter decomposition, clay mineral interaction, aggregate physical protection and microbial regulation; ④ The coupling repair technology including landform reconstruction, soil reconstruction, pioneer plant/microorganism and exogenous material is the optimal path for ecological restoration of coal mining areas in the Loess Plateau to fix carbon and increase carbon sink, and it is also conducive to the long-term stability and improvement of carbon sink.

Abstract Background Macrophages contribute to epithelial–mesenchymal transition (EMT) in diabetic nephropathy (DN). Exosomal long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) derived from macrophages play a major role in transmitting biological information, whereas related studies on DN are rare. Here we investigated the effects of exosomal lncRNAs from high glucose-treated macrophages on EMT. Methods High glucose-treated macrophage exosomes (HG-exos) were extracted by coprecipitation and stabilized. Then, mouse renal tubular epithelial cells were treated with HG-exos for 24 h. Expression of E-cadherin, α-smooth muscle actin (α-SMA), and fibronectin was detected by western blotting, qPCR, and immunofluorescence. High-throughput sequencing was then applied to analyze the bioinformatics of HG-exos. Results HG-exos inhibited the proliferation of tubular epithelial cells. Additionally, HG-exos markedly upregulated α-SMA and fibronectin expression and downregulated E-cadherin expression in tubular epithelial cells, indicating EMT induction. A total of 378 differentially expressed lncRNAs and 674 differentially expressed mRNAs were identified by high-throughput sequencing of HG-exos. Bioinformatics analysis and subsequent qPCR validation suggested 27 lncRNAs were enriched in the EMT-related MAPK pathway. Among them, ENSMUST00000181751.1, XR_001778608.1, and XR_880236.2 showed high homology with humans. Conclusion Exosomes from macrophages induce EMT in DN and lncRNAs in exosomes enriched in the MAPK signaling pathway may be the possible mechanism.

Background The risk factors for stroke in elderly patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD) are not well understood. This study aimed to explore the influence of systolic blood pressure (SBP) on the risk of stroke in a large cohort of elderly patients with stage 3–5 CKD.Methods We retrospectively identified 665 patients hospitalized in Beijing Friendship Hospital from January 2000 to December 2021. Patients were followed up until the occurrence of stroke or death. Multivariate logistic regression analysis and Cox proportional hazard models were used to analyze the risk factors for stroke according to the presence or absence of CKD. The association between CKD and stroke was further evaluated regarding the role of SBP in the hypertensive population.Results In individuals with CKD, a J-shaped relationship was observed between SBP levels and the risk of stroke. Participants with CKD and an SBP less than 125 mmHg had a significantly higher cumulative stroke survival rate than those whose SBP was between 125 and 139 mmHg. The cumulative stroke survival rate increased progressively for those with SBP higher than 140 mmHg. This J-shaped relationship was not found in patients without CKD.Conclusion In elderly patients with CKD, those with the lowest BP are at increased risk for incident stroke. This phenomenon could be different from that in the general population.

Abstract Background Muscle dysfunction is prevalent in dialysis patients. Gait speed and handgrip strength are simple and reliable methods of assessing muscle function. Numerous observational studies have linked 25-hydroxy vitamin D[25(OH)D] status with gait speed and handgrip strength in populations without kidney diseases. This study aimed to evaluate the potential associations of 25(OH)D status with gait speed and handgrip strength in patients on hemodialysis. Methods In this observational cross-sectional study, demographic data, biological data, and dialysis parameters were collected. Gait speed and handgrip strength were measured. Multiple linear regression and logistic regression analysis were used to investigate the relationship of 25(OH)D status with gait speed and handgrip strength after adjusting for potential confounders. Results Overall, a total of 118 participants undergoing hemodialysis were included. Seventy-one (60.2%) participants were male. The median 25(OH)D status in participants was 11.58 (interquartile range: 8.51 to 15.41) ng/ml. When controlling for age, gender, dialysis vintage, and other confounders with a p-value

Background and purposeTo provide a comprehensive overview of epidemiological features and temporal trends of pancreatic cancer in urban Shanghai from 1973 to 2017.MethodsData on pancreatic cancer in urban Shanghai were obtained through the Shanghai Cancer Registry and the Vital Statistics System. Joinpoint analysis was used to describe the temporal trends and annual percent changes (APCs) and age-period-cohort analysis were used to estimate the effects of age, period, and birth cohort on pancreatic cancer.ResultsThere were a total of 29,253 cases and 27,105 deaths of pancreatic cancer in urban Shanghai over the 45-year study period. The overall average annual age-standardized incidence and mortality rates were 5.45/100,000 and 5.02/100,000, respectively. Both the incidence and mortality rates demonstrated fluctuating upward trends, with an average annual increase rate of 1.51% (APC = 1.51, P < 0.001) and 1.04% (APC = 1.04, P < 0.001), respectively. The upward trend in incidence was greater for females than for males, while the trend in mortality was seen in both sexes equally and continuously. In recent years (2013-2017), the age-specific incidence rates increased further than before, with statistically significant changes in the 35-year, 45- to 55-year and 70- to 85-year age groups (P < 0.05). The age-specific mortality rates also showed obvious upward trends, which in the 50- to 55-year, and 75- to 85-year age groups increased significantly. The results of the age-period-cohort analysis suggested significant effects of age, period, and cohort on the prevalence of pancreatic cancer.ConclusionThe prevalence of pancreatic cancer, dramatically influenced by socioeconomic development and lifestyles, demonstrated a significant upward trend from 1973 to 2017 in urban Shanghai and underscored the necessity and urgency for additional efforts in primary and secondary prevention measures.

Plant diseases and pests have always been major contributors to losses that occur in agriculture. Currently, the use of deep learning-based convolutional neural network models allows for the accurate identification of different types of plant diseases and pests. To enable more efficient identification of plant diseases and pests, we design a novel network architecture called Dise-Efficient based on the EfficientNetV2 model. Our experiments demonstrate that training this model using a dynamic learning rate decay strategy can improve the accuracy of plant disease and pest identification. Furthermore, to improve the model’s generalization ability, transfer learning is incorporated into the training process. Experimental results indicate that the Dise-Efficient model boasts a compact size of 13.3 MB. After being trained using the dynamic learning rate decay strategy, the model achieves an accuracy of 99.80% on the Plant Village plant disease and pest dataset. Moreover, through transfer learning on the IP102 dataset, which represents real-world environmental conditions, the Dise-Efficient model achieves a recognition accuracy of 64.40% for plant disease and pest identification. In light of these results, the proposed Dise-Efficient model holds great potential as a valuable reference for the deployment of automatic plant disease and pest identification applications on mobile and embedded devices in the future.

BackgroundAdebrelimab showed excellent efficacy in the first-line treatment for extensive-stage small-cell lung cancer (ES-SCLC). However, whether adebrelimab is superior to durvalumab and atezolizumab remains unclear. Therefore, we, in this study, aimed to compare the survival data of adebrelimab (CAPSTONE-1 trial) with durvalumab (CASPIAN trial) and atezolizumab (IMpower133 trial) in the first-line setting of ES-SCLC patients.MethodsOnline databases, including PubMed, Embase, Web of Science, and Cochrane CENTRAL, were systematically searched on December 2, 2022. The metaSurvival and IPDfromKM methods were used to analyze the summary survival curves and the reconstructed patient-level data. The main endpoints were median overall survival (OS) and progression-free survival (PFS).ResultsIn this analysis, survival data in the CASPIAN, IMpower133, and CAPSTONE-1 trials were collected from five published studies. The pooled median OS and PFS were 14.0 months (95% CI 11.2-16.6) and 5.6 months (95% CI 4.7-6.7) when ES-SCLC patients received chemotherapy (etoposide and cisplatin/carboplatin) and anti-PD-L1 therapy. Based on the reconstructed patient-level data, adebrelimab significantly prolonged survival outcomes against atezolizumab (OS: Hazard ratio [HR]0.76, 95% CI 0.60-0.95; PFS: HR 0.67, 95% CI 0.54-0.83) and durvalumab (OS: HR 0.75, 95% CI 0.60-0.92).ConclusionFor previously untreated ES-SCLC patients, longer survival time might be benefited from adding adebrelimab to etoposide-platinum chemotherapy. In future studies, further real-world evidence or head-to-head clinical trials are warranted to confirm the differences between the PD-L1 inhibitors.

Highly sensitive surface acoustic wave (SAW) sensors have recently been recognized as a promising tool for various industrial and medical applications. However, existing SAW sensors generally suffer from a complex design, large size, and poor robustness. In this paper, we develop a simple and stable delay line ultra-high frequency (UHF) SAW sensor for highly sensitive detection of temperature. A Z-shaped delay line is specially designed on the piezoelectric substrate to improve the sensitivity and reduce the substrate size. Herein, the optimum design parameters of extremely short-pitch interdigital transducers (IDTs) are given by numerical simulations. The extremely short pitch gives the SAW sensor ultra-high operating frequency and consequently ultra-high sensitivity. Several experiments are conducted to demonstrate that the sensitivity of the Z-shaped SAW delay line sensor can reach up to 116.685°/°C for temperature detection. The results show that the sensor is an attractive alternative to current SAW sensing platforms in many applications.

The interaction amid Monascus pigment (MP) and ovalbumin (OVA) was studied using multispectral and computer simulations. The fluorescence results demonstrated that MP could effectively quench the fluorescence emission of OVA. According to Stern-Volmer and the double logarithmic equation, the quenching reaction of MP to OVA was static quenching, which was brought on by the combination of two molecules to shape a complex. At 298 K, the conjunction constant Ka of MP and OVA was 1.045 2 × 109 L/mol, and the count of conjunction sites n was 1.955 7. The thermodynamic constant of MP-OVA binding was counted according to Van’s Hoff equation, and the reaction belonged to the active process of reducing Gibbs free energy. The ultraviolet–visible (UV-Vis) absorption spectroscopy indicated an interaction between MP and OVA. The interaction force between MP and OVA and the steadiness of the conjunction were examined by using molecular docking and molecular dynamics simulation. The findings suggested that MP formed a complex with OVA via non-covalent binding, the formation and steadiness of the complex were promoted through hydrogen bonding, hydrophobic interaction, and Van der Waals force.

Abstract Background An optimal risk‐scoring system enables more targeted offers for colonoscopy in colorectal cancer (CRC) screening. This analysis aims to develop and validate scoring systems using parametric and non‐parametric methods for average‐risk populations. Methods Screening data of 807,695 subjects and 2806 detected cases in the first‐round CRC screening program in Shanghai were used to develop risk‐predictive models and scoring systems using logistic‐regression (LR) and artificial‐neural‐network (ANN) methods. Performance of established scoring systems was evaluated using area under the receiver operating characteristic curve (AUC), calibration, sensitivity, specificity, number of high‐risk individuals and potential detection rates of CRC. Results Age, sex, CRC in first‐degree relatives, chronic diarrhoea, mucus or bloody stool, history of any cancer and faecal‐immunochemical‐test (FIT) results were identified as predictors for the presence of CRC. The AUC of LR‐based system was 0.642 when using risk factors only in derivation set, and increased to 0.774 by further incorporating one‐sample FIT results, and to 0.808 by including two‐sample FIT results, while those for ANN‐based systems were 0.639, 0.763 and 0.805, respectively. Better calibrations were observed for the LR‐based systems than the ANN‐based ones. Compared with the currently used initial tests, parallel use of FIT with LR‐based systems resulted in improved specificities, less demands for colonoscopy and higher detection rates of CRC, while parallel use of FIT with ANN‐based systems had higher sensitivities; incorporating FIT in the scoring systems further increased specificities, decreased colonoscopy demands and improved detection rates of CRC. Conclusions Our results indicate the potentials of LR‐based scoring systems incorporating one‐ or two‐sample FIT results for CRC mass screening. External validation is warranted for scaling‐up implementation in the Chinese population.

Background and purposeSarcopenia is highly prevalent (28.5–40.3%) in patients undergoing hemodialysis and leads to poor clinical outcomes. However, the association between muscle quality and sarcopenia in patients receiving hemodialysis remains unclear. Therefore, we aimed to explore the association between muscle cross-sectional area (CSA) and proton-density fat-fraction (PDFF) in patients with sarcopenia undergoing hemodialysis.MethodsSeventy-six patients undergoing hemodialysis for > 3 months were enrolled. Their handgrip strength (HGS), short physical performance battery (SPPB) performance, and appendicular skeletal muscle mass index (ASMI) were measured. Sarcopenia was defined using the Asian Working Group for Sarcopenia 2019 consensus update. All patients underwent quantitative magnetic resonance imaging. CSA and PDFF were measured for the thigh, trunk, and gluteus muscles.ResultsThe prevalence of probable, confirmed, and severe sarcopenia in this study was 73.7%, 51.3%, and 22.4%, respectively. Older age (OR: 1.061, P < 0.003); lower body mass index (BMI) (OR: 0.837, P = 0.008), albumin (OR: 0.765, P = 0.004), prealbumin (OR: 0.987, P = 0.001), predialysis blood urea nitrogen (BUN) (OR: 0.842, P < 0.001), predialysis creatinine (OR: 0.993, P < 0.001), phosphorus (OR: 0.396, P = 0.047); lower CSA of the thigh (OR: 0.58, P = 0.035), third lumbar (L3) trunk (OR: 0.37, P = 0.004), gluteus minimus and medius (OR: 0.28, P = 0.001), and gluteus maximus (OR: 0.28, P= 0.001); and higher PDFF of the thigh (OR: 1.89, P = 0.036) and L3 trunk (OR: 1.71, P = 0.040) were identified as sarcopenia risk factors. The gluteus minimus and medius CSA was lower in patients with sarcopenia than in those without after adjusting for age and BMI (OR: 0.37, P = 0.017). Higher thigh (P = 0.031) and L3 trunk (P = 0.006) muscle PDFF were significantly associated with lower HGS. Furthermore, higher thigh (P = 0.011) and L3 trunk (P = 0.010) muscle PDFF were also inversely correlated with lower ASMI.ConclusionOur findings demonstrate the high prevalence of sarcopenia and myosteatosis in patients undergoing hemodialysis and might trigger a paradigm shift in intervention strategies for patients receiving hemodialysis.

This paper decomposes agricultural input factors into labor, land, fertilizer, and farm machinery in 31 provinces of China from 1990 to 2020. This paper analyzes the input factor’s contribution rates to China’s agricultural growth using the stochastic frontier model. The empirical results indicate that the contribution rate of input factors in China’s agricultural growth has weakened, with decreasing contribution rate of labor, an increasing contribution rate of fertilizer and machinery, and decreasing contribution rate of the land year by year. The contribution rate of technological progress is increasing, and there is room for improvement. In addition, technological progress and input factors alternately lead to the time of policy change in China. The research also shows that the prerequisite for promoting rural supply-side reform and achieving sustained agricultural growth is ensuring a stable supply of input factors, focusing on promoting agricultural technological progress.

Methods In 2020, 414 blood samples were tested, obtained from 157 confirmed Covid-19 patients, in a prospective cohort study in Shanghai. Objective To evaluate the impact of accurate detection of the uterine cavity environment on the outcome of assisted pregnancy in patients with repeated transplantation failures by detecting the uterine cavity micro-ecology and endometrial receptivity after using the results to guide transplantation. Methods A total of 223 patients with repeated transplantation failure who underwent in vitro fertilization/intracytoplasmic sperm injection (IVF/ICSI) in the Assisted Reproductive Center of the Sixth Medical Center of Chinese PLA General Hospital from September 2019 to January 2021 were recruited as the research subjects. According to whether they received the uterine cavity micro-ecology and receptivity test, they were divided into experimental group A (n=70), experimental group B (n=80) and control group (n=73). Experimental group A only received uterine cavity micro-ecology test, and experimental group B received uterine cavity micro-ecology and endometrial receptivity test. These 2 groups adjusted the transplantation plan according to the results of tests. The control group had no intervention before the transplantation cycle and received conventional transplantation plan. The basic data of patients, embryo transfer status and pregnancy outcome were compared, and the relationship of uterine cavity microbes combined with endometrial receptivity test and adjustment of transplantation medication regimen with pregnancy outcome was analyzed in the patients with repeated transplantation failures. Results The 16SrRNA sequencing results showed that 58.57% (41/70) of patients with repeated transplantation failure had bacteria detected in the uterine cavity, and 81.43% (57/70) of patients were non-lactobacillus-dominated. With the comparison of basic data, the differences in the patient's age, body mass index (BMI), follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH), endometrial thickness on the day of transformation, and number of embryos transferred were not statistically different in the pairwise comparisons among groups A and B and the control group (P>0.05). In pregnancy outcomes, the embryo implantation rates were 21.57% and 9.09% in the experimental group A and control group, respectively, with that of experimental group A significantly higher than that of the control group (P < 0.05). While, the pregnancy rates were 34.43% and 13.92%, respectively, and that of the experimental group A was notably higher than that of the control group (P < 0.05). The embryo implantation rate was 24.78%, and the clinical pregnancy rate was 39.39% in the experimental group B, both of which were obviously higher than those of the control group (P < 0.05), but no such differences were seen in the rates between the experimental group A and group B (P>0.05). Conclusion Uterine cavity micro-ecology combined with endometrial receptivity results to guide transplantation shows clear significance for patients with repeated transplantation failures. Among them, guiding vaginal pretreatment with Lactobacillus and other drugs based on uterine cavity micro-ecology test results can significantly improve clinical outcome of pregnancy.

The hydraulic pipeline vibration noise is one of the main noise sources in submarine stealth conditions. Taking the local hydraulic system of a certain type of submarine as the research object, a model is first developed to simulate water hammer pressures and to study the influence of component parameters on the generation and transmission of water hammers. Then, using the maximum water hammer as the excitation, fluid–structure interaction (FSI) vibration characteristics analysis of the pipeline is carried out. Additionally, the simulation method of clamp bolt pre-tightening is discussed. Finally, the modal test of various specifications of the pipeline is carried out. The results show that the error between the simulation and the test results is within 10%, which verifies the correctness of the model settings. On this basis, with the position of the clamp as the independent variable and the maximum stress of pipelines as the dependent variable, the optimization of pipeline passive vibration control is carried out by genetic algorithm, and the finite element verification shows that the pipeline vibration stress is effectively reduced.

A high-performance microwave absorber with simultaneously ultra-broadband microwave absorption, mechanical flexibility and high optical transparency is proposed. A patterned indium–tin–oxide (ITO) conductive metasurface is used as the upper surface resonance layer. ANSYS HFSS 15.0 was used for the infinite period structures of the absorber simulation, and the Floquet port, master-slave boundary condition and adaptive meshing were set in the software. As a result, the absorber features >90% broadband absorption, which covers a wide frequency range of 17.6 GHz (21.6-39.2 GHz) and includes part of the K and Ka frequency bands. What is more, the absorption is above 99% in the range from 30 GHz to 33.6 GHz. The optical transmittance of the absorber in the visible light band is 85%. The thickness of the absorber is only 0.1 times of the wavelength corresponding to the lowest absorption frequency (13.89 mm). Furthermore, the absorber maintains stable absorption at different incident and polarization angles due to the quadruple centrosymmetric pattern.

Introduction Primary membranous nephropathy (PMN) is a major cause of nephrotic syndrome in adults. Rituximab has been recommended in the treatment of PMN by the updated Kidney Disease Improved Outcome guideline. However, the optimal dosing regimen of rituximab for the initial treatment of patients with PMN is unclear.Methods and analysis A comprehensive screening will be performed by searching PubMed, Embase and the CENTRAL (Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials) without language restriction. Studies evaluating the efficacy of rituximab monotherapy using the following types of dosing regimens will be included: high-dose regimen; standard regimen and low-dose regimen. Studies with less than 10 participants will be excluded. The primary outcome is the remission rate at 12 months. The secondary outcomes are remission rate at 6 and 24 months, complete remission rate at 6, 12 and 24 months, relapse at 6, 12 and 24 months, and side effects. Risk of Bias In Non-randomised Studies of Interventions tool will be used to assess the risk of bias for non-randomised studies and the Cochrane risk of bias assessment tool will be used for randomised controlled trials. The pooled remission rate, complete remission rate, relapse rate and side effects will be estimated using the metaprop command. All analyses will be calculated using Stata software (V.15.0; StataCorp).Ethics and dissemination Ethics approval is not required. In the reliability analysis of slope stability, the deterministic analysis method is usually used to calculate the safety factor to evaluate the stability of slope. However, the inherent spatial variability of rock mass properties cannot be considered and described adequately in traditional deterministic method, resulting in the inaccurate calculation of slope failure probability. Based on Hoek-Brown criterion and random finite difference method (RFDM), the reliability analysis of slope stability and random response of pile are discussed in this paper considering spatial variability of rock mass. The uniaxial compressive strength σci and material constant for the intact rock mi are regarded as random field variables and geological strength index GSI is assumed to be a random variable. The results show that the spatial variability of rock mass parameters has a significant effect on slope failure probability and pile response. Ignoring the spatial variability of rock mass parameters will overestimate slope failure probability and the mean value of the maximum bending moment of anti-slide pile, and underestimate the mean value of displacement at pile head. The results can provide design guidance for slope reinforcement as well as layout optimization of anti-sliding piles.

The drive towards net-zero carbon emissions has prompted many industries to alter the way they operate. The agriculture industry is responsible for a large proportion of the UK’s greenhouse gas emissions. Thus, the feasibility of implementing an anaerobic digestion (AD) system supplying biogas to a trigeneration system with energy storage for the provision of heating, cooling and power has been investigated in the context of a medium-scale arable farm. Two configurations – one supplied with wheat straw only, and the other supplied with wheat straw, barley straw and manure – were identified to meet the energy demands of the farm. Technical feasibility was investigated via simulations run in ECLIPSE, with the two configurations returning overall system efficiencies of 66.8% and 67.1%, respectively. Economic analyses indicated simple payback periods of 9.4 and 11 years, which fall within the expected 20-year lifetime of the project. Furthermore, the potential reduction in CO2 emissions for each scenario was determined to be 42,764 kg and 43,956 kg per year.
