Objective To investigate the clinical value of extracellular volume (ECV) based on CT delayed phase in combination with pathologic indicators in predicting early recurrence of gastric mesenchymal tumors after surgery. Methods A retrospective case-control trial was conducted on the imaging, clinical and pathological data of 110 patients with gastric mesenchymal tumors who were surgically resected at the First Affiliated Hospital of Army Medical University from January 2011 to August 2022. They were 60 males and 50 females, at a mean age of 58±10 years. All of them received preoperative multiphase dynamic CT enhancement examination of the abdomen, and ECV value was calculated with the formula: ECV=(1- hematocrit) × (ΔHU tumor/ΔHU aorta). According to the postoperative recurrence within 24 months after surgery, they were divided into early recurrence group and non early recurrence group. Statistical indexes: ① Consistency analysis. ② The factors affecting early recurrence after resection of gastric mesenchymal stromal tumors were analyzed and a prediction model was conducted. Delong test was used to assess the predictive value of the model. Then a nomogram was plotted based on the combines model, and calibration curves were drawn to assess the efficacy of the column charts, and decision curve analysis (DCA) was adopted to assess the value of the model for clinical application. Results ① Consistency analysis. After 2 radiologists outlined the region of interest and obtained ECV value according to the above formula, The intraclass correlation coefficient (ICC) was 0.806. ② For the 110 subjected patients, 21 cases of them had early recurrence, and 89 one did not. Multivariate analysis showed that ECV value, risk degree, and tumor length were independent influencing factors for predicting early recurrence. Receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve analysis indicated that the area under the curve (AUC) value of ECV, hazard degree, and tumor length diameter in predicting early recurrence was 0.838 (95%CI 0.758~0.918), 0.774 (95%CI 0.656~0.892), and 0.700 (95%CI 0.589~0.810), respectively, and the value of their combined model was 0.899 (95%CI 0.811~0.987), which was higher than that of each independent model. The sensitivity and specificity of the combined model was 85.71% and 86.52%, respectively, and the optimal cutoff value was 0.19. Delong test revealed that there was statistical difference between the combined model and the clinical model established by the hazard level (Z=6.548, P < 0.001, 95%CI 0.140~0.259). Calibration curve analysis suggested that the combined model had a better fit, and DCA displayed that the combined model had a better net benefit. Conclusion The model established by ECV combined with pathological indicators has good predictive performance and can be used as a more effective predictor of early recurrence of gastric mesenchymal tumors after surgery.

Objective To investigate the clinical and imaging features of fumarate hydratase-deficient renal cell carcinoma (FH-RCC) in order to improve clinical understandings of this disease. Methods A retrospective study was conducted on all pathologically confirmed FH-RCC patients in our hospital from 2020 to 2022. Their clinical information, pathological data and imaging features were collected and analyzed with descriptive study. Results There were 6 pathologically confirmed FH-RCC patients (8 tumors) enrolled, and they were 4 males and 2 females, at an age of 27~48 year. Imaging Results showed that 62.5% (5/8) tumors were cystic solid lesions and 37.5% (3/8) were pure solid lesions. One lesion showed mixed signal on MRI and limited diffusion of the solid component of the lesion on diffusion-weighted imaging. Enhanced scanning displayed 71.4% (5/7) had progressive enhancement of the solid portion of the lesion, and 75.0% (6/8) had invasion of the renal sinus, including 1 case with simultaneous invasion of the adrenal gland. Retroperitoneal lymph node metastasis was 66.7% (4/6) cases on first examination. All 6 patients were treated with surgical resection, and 66.7% (4/6) had metastases at 2 to 21 (6.8±7.8) months of follow-up. Conclusion Radiological features of FH-RCC were mainly cystic solid occupancy with a thin cystic wall and progressive enhancement of the solid part after contrast enhancements.

ABSTRACT: Objectives: This study reports identification of the carbapenemase-encoding gene from carbapenem-resistant Enterobacterales from food animals. Methods: A total of 40 bacterial isolates recovered from 475 faecal swabs obtained on one farm were tested for the presence of the blaNDM-1 gene by PCR. Species identification of three blaNDM-1-positive strains was conducted by MALDI-TOF/MS. Antimicrobial susceptibility testing was performed by broth microdilution. Transferability of the blaNDM-1 and cfr genes was determined by filter mating. The genetic environment of blaNDM-1 and cfr was analysed by whole-genome sequencing. Results: Two Proteus mirabilis (JPM24 and YPM35) and one Providencia rettgeri (YPR25) carried blaNDM-1. The blaNDM-1 genes were located on conjugable pPrY2001-like plasmids often reported to carry important antimicrobial resistance genes (ARGs). YPR25 and YPM35 shared two almost identical conjugable plasmids, one carrying blaNDM-1 and the other cfr. The blaNDM-1 gene in YPR25 (same as YPM35) and JPM24 was located in two novel transposons, designated Tn6922 and Tn6923, respectively. Tn6922 and Tn6923 carried 14 and 7 ARGs, respectively, and both contained multiple copies of IS26 in the same direction, with a high degree of similarity. Additionally, cfr was located on a plasmid with an unreported high frequency of conjugative transfer in YPR25 (same as YPM35). Conclusion: We identified two novel blaNDM-1-containing transposons (Tn6922 and Tn6923) present on pPrY2001-like plasmids. The pPrY2001-like blaNDM-1 plasmids coexisted with a novel cfr plasmid, and both could transfer at high frequency, highlighting the importance of continuous surveillance of multiresistant Enterobacterales of animal origin that can serve as a reservoir for ARGs.

Objective To discuss the role of a multidisciplinary team (MDT) in the diagnosis and treatment of colorectal cancer with liver metastases. Methods A MDT involving specialists from the departments of radiology, pathology, general surgery, hepatobiliary surgery, oncology and radiotherapy participated in the treatment planning and assessment throughout the treatment in a case of colonic cancer with liver metastases. The patient received comprehensive treatments provided by the MDT to maximize the treatment benefits. Results Examination of the patient showed that the metastatic foci in the liver were resectable. After translational treatment and several rounds of multidisciplinary discussions, the patient received surgical resection of the primary and metastatic lesions with postoperative systemic treatments. Follow-up of the patient showed no evidence of disease after chemotherapy, and survival benefits were achieved from the treatments. Conclusion The multidisciplinary approach is capable of providing the patients with colorectal cancer with specific, precise and individualized treatments to maximize the treatment benefits.

ObjectiveThis study was aimed to explore the impact of fish oil (Omega-3 fatty acids) on hostility and psychopathology among patients with acute violent schizophrenia.MethodSixty seven acute hospitalized patients demonstrating violent behavior in the context of a schizophrenic illness, treated with antipsychotics, were randomly assigned to a supplement with either fish oil (N=32) or placebo (N=35) in a double-blind, placebo-controlled trial. Assessments were conducted at the baseline, week 4 and week 8.ResultsThe symptoms and hostility decreased after treatment for 4 and 8 weeks in both groups, with no group differences.ConclusionsThe current study did not find improvements in symptoms or hostility from the Omega-3 fatty acid supplementation in patients with schizophrenia. The implication is that Omega-3 fatty acids do not reduce psychopathology and hostility in acute patients with schizophrenia.

Objective To compare the influences on periodontal condition between self⁃ligating brackets and con⁃ ventional brackets. Methods A total of 120 subjects (age range between twelve and sixteen) were selected which were averaged into four groups (C, S1, S2, S3) at random by different bracket types. Group C included 40 patients with con⁃ ventionally⁃ligated bracket as control group, and the others (S1, S2, S3) included 40 patients respectively with self⁃ligat⁃ ing brackets as experimental groups. Before treatment and 1, 3, 6 months after beginning of treatment respectively, the periodontal parameters PLI, GI, PD were examined. Results There was no significant difference between the 4 groups between T0⁃T1. 3, 6 months after the orthodontic treatment, no matter conventionally⁃ligated bracket or self⁃ligating brackets, the periodontal parameters PLI, GI of the tested teeth increased significantly than before, however, the values of PD did not show any significant difference. Three and six months after beginning of treatment, PL, SBI, PD between the conventional and self⁃ligating groups have significant differences (P < 0.05). There were no statistically significant differences at all the time intervals between the self⁃ligating brackets groups (P > 0.05). Conclusion The self⁃ligating brackets have an advantage over conventional brackets with respect to the periodontal improving of control of plaque and gingival bleeding, but not for periodontal pocket depth.

The RUNX genes encode transcription factors involved in development and human disease. RUNX1 and RUNX3 are frequently associated with leukemias, yet the basis for their involvement in leukemogenesis is not fully understood. Here, we show that Runx1;Runx3 double-knockout (DKO) mice exhibited lethal phenotypes due to bone marrow failure and myeloproliferative disorder. These contradictory clinical manifestations are reminiscent of human inherited bone marrow failure syndromes such as Fanconi anemia (FA), caused by defective DNA repair. Indeed, Runx1;Runx3 DKO cells showed mitomycin C hypersensitivity, due to impairment of monoubiquitinated-FANCD2 recruitment to DNA damage foci, although FANCD2 monoubiquitination in the FA pathway was unaffected. RUNX1 and RUNX3 interact with FANCD2 independently of CBFβ, suggesting a nontranscriptional role for RUNX in DNA repair. These findings suggest that RUNX dysfunction causes DNA repair defect, besides transcriptional misregulation, and promotes the development of leukemias and other cancers.

This paper analyzes the decoupling of a sliding structure six-axis force/torque sensor, which is used to measure the interactive force between surgical tools and soft tissue for the establishment of soft-tissue force model. Because this decoupling structure requires accurate sliding clearance and symmetric grooves, the influence of contact force between the elastic body and the groove sidewall on decoupling is analyzed. The analysis results indicate that the contact force will produce additional coupling error. The robust design method of elastic body size optimization is used to eliminate the influence of contact force. In the calibration test, the expanded uncertainty of the calibration device is evaluated and the calibration results validate the good decoupling.

In order to reduce the damage to the old reinforced concrete walls and work out the best construction scheme during the renovation of old buildings, it is often required to detect the position of rebar buried in concrete walls. In this paper, we propose a non-destructive method to detect the buried rebar by self-inductive sensor combined with surface acoustic wave resonator (SAWR). The proposed method has the advantages of wireless, passive and convenient operations. In our new design, the sensing element of self-inductance coil was made as a component of SAWR matching network. The distribution of rebar could be measured according to the system resonant frequency, using a signal demodulation device set. The depth of buried rebar and the deviation of output resonant frequency from inherent frequency of SAWR have an inverse relation. Finally, the validity of the method was verified in theoretical calculation and simulation.
