Stream processing is usually done either on a tuple-by-tuple basis or in micro-batches. There are many applications where tuples over a predefined duration/window must be processed within certain deadlines. Processing such queries using stream processing engines can be very inefficient since there is often a significant overhead per tuple or micro-batch. The cost of computation can be significantly reduced by using the wider window available for computation. In this work, we present scheduling schemes where the overhead cost is minimized while meeting the query deadline constraints. For such queries, since the result is needed only at the deadline, tuples can be processed in larger batches, instead of using micro-batches. We present scheduling schemes for single and multi query scenarios. The proposed scheduling algorithms have been implemented as a Custom Query Scheduler, on top of Apache Spark. Our performance study with TPC-H data, under single and multi query modes, shows orders of magnitude improvement as compared to naively using Spark streaming.

A winning personality is the physical attribute of a person and is considered as his or her success in personal, academic, and professional careers. However, in the ESL context, most engineering students seem to be unaware of the need for and importance of an appealing personality for achieving success in both personal and professional careers. Although students are given a short-term training in soft-skills by their respective college or institute, engineering students seem to lack aspects of a pleasing personality which helps them in job placements and later in the work environment. Therefore, the main aim of this study is to understand and build engineering students’ personality traits such as enthusiasm, dependability, and teamwork for a successful career. For this purpose, to understand the students’ personality types, 25 engineering students were administered a pre-test based on Carl Jung and Isabel Briggs Myers’ typological approach to personality. Students were helped in building personality through the soft-skills training. The data was analyzed and interpreted both qualitatively and quantitatively. The results indicated that having a pleasing personality and exhibiting soft-skills enables in building students’ individual personality for employment readiness. Implications were offered to students, placement trainers, and teachers. It is concluded that having a charming personality will support students in landing their desired jobs.

The potato cyst nematodes are the most wilful and difficult to manage pests of potato crop. Due to the regulatory considerations and potential risk involved in environmental and health hazards, the options for controlling this nematode are becoming increasingly limited. Among the available management options, trap and antagonistic crops offer viable alternative for controlling PCN species. Therefore the present experiments were conducted to determine the effect of locally available nematode trap crop, Solanum sisymbriifolium and antagonistic crops against potato cyst nematodes. Initially, S. sisymbriifolium was evaluated for its trap crop potential against PCN and the results showed that S. sisymbriifolium acts as a resistant crop for both the species of PCN, as no females were observed on the roots of the trap crop up to the end of the crop season. In addition to this, in the subsequent season negligible populations of PCN females with improved plant growth parameters were observed in susceptible potato cv. Kufri Jyoti. In another experiment, its efficiency was compared with antagonistic crop species viz., Tagetes patula (marigold), Allium sativum (garlic) and Brassica juncea (mustard) on the population decline of PCN. From the study, it was observed that minimum populations of both the species of PCN (0.6 and 33.4 female's plant−1 respectively) were supported in two succeeding seasons of susceptible potato cultivar where S. sisymbriifolium was grown in the preceding season which was followed by marigold, garlic and mustard-based sequences. Therefore, S. sisymbriifolium can be used as a potential trap crop for the management of PCN; however, future studies on its suitability in field conditions are required for its effective utilization under field condition for the management of this nematode.

The detailed micro-Raman study of pure TiO2 and Si-doped TiO2 thin film was synthesized by facile dip-coating technique for photocatalytic application, to degrade the organic species in polluted surface water due to the recent environmental crisis by dye industries. The prepared pure TiO2 and Si-doped TiO2 thin film were annealed at various temperatures 300 °C and 450 °C. Micro-Raman spectrum of TiO2 nanostructure confirms the presence of anatase phase. The crystallinity of TiO2 and uniformity of the film were improved in annealing temperature of 450 °C. The particle size of TiO2 was calculated on the basis of the phonon confinement model with the theoretical phonon dispersion relation. The phonon confinement effect depends upon the blue shift and broadening of the lower-frequency Eg Raman mode of TiO2. Also, the compressive stress of TiO2 was evaluated using a suitable formula. In addition, the dye degradation activity under visible light irradiation process using methylene blue (MB) was analyzed to check the ability of photocatalytic activity of prepared samples, in which, the fast MB degradation kinetics achieved by Si-TiO2 nanocrystal and it degrades 99% of MB within 60 min. Also, it exhibits more than 90% photodegradation efficiency up to ten recycle than pristine. Moreover, the possible photocatalytic mechanism of the prepared system was discussed.

Background: Large ruminants are considered as high risk anaesthesia patient for abdominal surgery because of their heavy weight, the late-term gravidity and the expected long duration of anaesthesia. In order to augment cardiopulmonary function, we aimed at decreasing the requirement of inhalant agents for surgery. Several studies have revealed that lignocaine infusion significantly reduces the minimum alveolar concentration (MAC) of inhalation agents in a variety of species. Thus the present study is focused on assessing the adjunct property of intravenous lignocaine CRI in multimodal general anaesthetic protocol employed for intestinal surgery in cattle. Methods: The study was carried out in 12 clinical cases of cattle which were randomly categorized into two equally groups. All the animals were premedicated with dexmedetomidine and butorphanol tartrate at the dose rate of 0.5 µg per kg and 0.02 mg per kg body weight i.v. respectively. After five minutes of premedication, induction of anaesthesia was achieved with double drip solution containing ketamine hydrochloride 2 mg and guaifenesin 50 mg per mL respectively, administered i.v. “to effect”. Anaesthesia was maintained with isoflurane in all the animals. In group II animals ten minutes prior to skin incision, slow intravenous lignocaine bolus at the dose rate of 2 mg per kg and continuous rate infusion at the dose rate of 50 µg per kg per min was delivered through volumetric infusion pump. Result: The Isoflurane liquid utilised for maintenance decreased significantly in group II than group I, which signifies that the inclusion of lignocaine in the anaesthetic protocol has 14.95 per cent isoflurane sparing effect.

The beneficial effects of two probiotic bacterial strains Marinilactibacillus piezotolerans and Novosphingobium sp. during the culture of Indian white shrimp, Penaeus indicus, under biofloc and clear water system were evaluated. The experimental variation were CW1 (M. piezotolerans in clear water), BFT1 (biofloc + M. piezotolerans), CW2 (Novosphingobium sp. in clear water), BFT2 (biofloc + Novosphingobium sp.) and control (without bacterial strains and biofloc). Growth and survival considerably increased in probiotic bio-augmented treatments. Probiotic incorporation significantly improved water quality, especially ammonia reduction. Microbiota analysis from gut samples taken from different treatments revealed varied microbial population structure among clear water culture, biofloc culture and control. Proteobacteria and Firmicutes were the top phyla observed in the treatments which were significantly higher in bio-augmented systems than the control. Vibrio genera were predominantly observed in control and clear water system compared to that of biofloc systems. Immune genes were significantly altered in response to probiotic gut microbial supplementation than the control. Higher gene expression profile of important immune genes was observed in the biofloc reared shrimps. Expression of digestive enzyme related genes such as trypsin, chymotrypsin, cathepsin L, cathepsin B and alpha amylase were also upregulated significantly in probiotic supplementation especially in the biofloc treatments. Proteomic analysis of hepatopancreas of shrimps from different treatments was carried out by using 2D gel electrophoresis and MALDI-TOF analysis. The proteins were mostly related to growth and stress tolerance. Eukaryotic initiation factor 4E binding protein was expressed in all the groups and it was high in biofloc treated animals followed by animals treated solely with probiotics compared to those of control groups. The results concludes that biofloc already proved as an effective culture method for healthy shrimp production and supplementation of probiotic bacterial strains registered additional benefit for growth, survival, microbial, immunological status of P, indicus culture.

A130-day culture experiment was performed to compare the effects of rearing Litopenaeus vannamei in a biofloc system and conventional autotrophic system, supplemented with diets having graded protein levels on growth performance, non-specific immune response and immunomodulatory activity. The experiment groups consisted of four protein-level treatments with four replicates each, and was performed in 16 experimental units (7.5-Tcapacity) stocked with juvenile L. vannamei (initial average weight 1.48 ± 0.4 g) at a density of 150 juvenile shrimps /m3. Biofloc-based groups fed with supplementary feed containing varying levels of crude protein (CP) BFT40 (40% CP), BFT32 (32% CP) and BFT24 (24% CP), and a control group (CP 40%), were maintained in an autotrophic system. At the end of the experimental period, there was an improvement of 32.6–52.6% in terms of productivity, 22–27.6% average body weight; 8.7–19.6% survival rate and 10–31% feed conversion ratio (FCR) in shrimp maintained in biofloc systems as compared to control. Similarly, the protein efficiency ratio (PER) in biofloc treatment groups was32 to 83% higher than control. Detection of brain tumor using various technologies is still under research. Brain tumor identification and segmentation in recent years is done by Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI). Software for accurate identification of brain tumor is still under existence. So, we propose an idea for identification and segmentation of brain tumor using deep learning. The first step will be processing the Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) by giving it as the input, it is analyzed and segmented using various deep learning techniques such as initializing the CNN, pooling, flattening, compiling the CNN using Tensor Flow as backend. Thus, Identification and segmentation of brain tumor can be identified easily and efficiently.

A 60 days nursery-based co-culture of Indian white shrimp, Penaeus indicus along with seaweed, Gracilaria tenuistipitata trial was carried out in Recirculatory Aquaculture System (RAS) of 6000 Liters capacity tank (FRP, reinforced fibre plastics) by using biofloc technology (BFT) to evaluate the growth, survival performance and immune potential. Accordingly a completely randomized experiment was designed with six treatments. These treatments were: T1- Static system (Control), T2 - RAS with BFT, T3 - RAS with Gracilaria, T4 - RAS and BFT customized with bacterial consortium, T5 - RAS with BFT + Gracilaria + bacterial consortium, T6 - Static + Gracilaria + BFT (without consortium and without RAS). Shrimp post larvae (0.08 ± 0.03 g) were stocked at a density of 3000 nos./ton. RAS with BFT along with the seaweed and bacterial consortium showed significantly higher growth and survival compared to control (T1) and treatments without BFT (T3). The control (T1) exhibited significantly lower growth, weight gain, specific growth rate, yield and higher FCR value than that of the RAS + BFT (T2), RAS+ seaweed (T3) and RAS + BFT or their combinations with bacterial consortium (T4 and T5). The treatment having seaweed without BFT (T3) showed higher survival than the static control (T1), but no significant difference in growth. The highest ABW of 4.23 ± 0.39 was obtained in T4 (BFT customized with consortium) followed by T5 (BFT + seaweed + bacterial consortium) and lowest was observed in T1 (2.14 ± 0.4). Similarly, the highest survival (92.33 ± 1.52) and production (10.39 ± 0.24 kg/ton) was observed in T5. Significantly higher NH4-N and NO2-N was accumulated in the control (T1) in comparison with other treatment like T4 and T5. Immune parameters viz., PPO activity, Total Serum Protein and Total Hemocyte Count (THC) showed significantly higher values in all the treatments compared to control. This study establishes the novel concept of incorporation of macroalgae in biofloc based RAS improving the production performance and immune response of shrimp during nursery as well as grow-out phase.
