To assess the prevalence of burnout, anxiety and depression symptoms, and posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) in PICU workers in Brazil during the first peak of the COVID-19 pandemic. To compare the results of subgroups stratified by age, gender, professional category, health system, and previous mental health disorders.Multicenter, cross-sectional study using an electronic survey.Twenty-nine public and private Brazilian PICUs.Multidisciplinary PICU workers.None.Self-reported questionnaires were used to measure burnout (Maslach Burnout Inventory), anxiety and depression (Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale), and PTSD (Posttraumatic Stress Disorder Checklist for Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, Fifth Edition [PCL-5]) in 1,084 respondents. Subjects were mainly young (37.1 ± 8.4 yr old) and females (85%), with a median workload of 50 hours per week. The prevalence of anxiety and depression was 33% and 19%, respectively, whereas PTSD was 13%. The overall median burnout scores were high in the emotional exhaustion and personal accomplishment dimensions (16 [interquartile range (IQR), 8-24] and 40 [IQR, 33-44], respectively) whereas low in the depersonalization one (2 [IQR, 0-5]), suggesting a profile of overextended professionals, with a burnout prevalence of 24%. Professionals reporting prior mental health disorders had higher prevalence of burnout (30% vs 22%; p = 0.02), anxiety (51% vs 29%; p0.001), and depression symptoms (32.5% vs 15%; p0.001), with superior PCL-5 scores for PTSD (p0.001). Public hospital workers presented more burnout (29% vs 18.6%, p0.001) and more PTSD levels (14.8% vs 10%, p = 0.03). Younger professionals were also more burned out (p0.05 in all three dimensions).The prevalence of mental health disorders in Brazilian PICU workers during the first 2020 peak of COVID-19 was as high as those described in adult ICU workers. Some subgroups, particularly those reporting previous mental disorders and younger professionals, should receive special attention to prevent future crises.

Myracrodruon urundeuva Fr. Allem. (Anacardiaceae) is a tree popularly known as the “aroeira-do-sertão”, native to the caatinga and cerrado biomes, with a natural dispersion ranging from the Northeast, Midwest, to Southeast Brazil. Its wood is highly valued and overexploited, due to its characteristics such as durability and resistance to decaying. The diversity of chemical constituents in aroeira seed has shown biological properties against microorganisms and helminths. As such, this work aimed to identify the profile of volatile compounds present in aroeira seeds. Headspace solid phase microextraction was employed (HS-SPME) using semi-polar polydimethylsiloxane-divinylbenzene fiber (PDMS/DVB) for the extraction of VOCs. 22 volatile organic compounds were identified: nine monoterpenes and eight sesquiterpenes, in addition to six compounds belonging to different chemical classes such as fatty acids, terpenoids, salicylates and others. Those that stood out were p-mentha-1,4, 4(8)-diene, 3-carene (found in all samples), caryophyllene and cis-geranylacetone. A virtual docking analysis suggested that around 65% of the VOCs molar content from the aroeiras seeds present moderate a strong ability to bind to cyclooxygenase I (COX-I) active site, oxide nitric synthase (iNOS) active site (iNOSas) or to iNOS cofactor site (iNOScs), corroborating an anti-inflamatory potential. A pharmacophoric descriptor analysis allowed to infer the more determinant characteristics of these compounds’ conferring affinity to each site. Taken together, our results illustrate the high applicability for the integrated use of SPME, in silico virtual screening and chemoinformatics tools at the profiling of the biotechnological and pharmaceutical potential of natural sources.

Evaluation of fertilizers is an important premise, given the need for knowing new alternative sources to increase the efficiency in the use of nutrients, especially phosphorus. The objective of this study was to evaluate the growth of millet cultivated in sandy soil under phosphorus doses and sources. The experiment was carried out in a greenhouse, in Sobral, CE, in soil with low phosphorus concentration in the randomized block experimental design, with two sources (monoammonium phosphate - MAP and organomineral fertilizer prepared with MAP and organic compost of waste from small ruminant production - OMF) and four doses of P2O5 (35, 70, 140 and 210 kg ha-1), plus an additional treatment without phosphate fertilization, with three replicates, conducted in the second half of 2015. The variables measured were dry mass production, phosphorus accumulation in the plant and agronomic, physiological and recovery efficiencies. Evaluations were carried out in two cuts in millet plants(65 and 110 days after germination). The data were subjected to analysis of variance, followed by t-test for the sources and regression analysis for the doses, in addition to the Dunnett’s test to compare the phosphate fertilization with the control. In the first cut, it was observed that even at low doses of P2O5 (35 kg ha-1of P2O5), the biomass increases compared to the control. Increment in phosphorus doses increased the accumulation of this nutrient in millet plants. Considering the total accumulated in the two cuts of millet, the organomineral fertilizer promoted higher nutrient content compared to monoammonium phosphate from 127 kg ha-1 of P2O5. RESUMO A avaliação de fertilizantes é premissa importante, dada à necessidade de conhecer novas fontes alternativas para aumentar a eficiência do uso de nutrientes, principalmente fósforo. Objetivou-se com o presente ensaio avaliar o crescimento da cultura do milheto cultivado em solo arenoso com doses e fontes de fósforo. O experimento foi realizado em casa de vegetação, em Sobral, CE, em solo com baixa concentração de fósforo no delineamento experimental em blocos casualizados, com duas fontes (fosfatomonoamônico - MAP e fertilizante organomineral elaborado com MAP e composto orgânico de resíduos da produção de pequenos ruminantes - FOM) e quatro doses de P2O5 (35, 70, 140 e 210 kg ha-1), além de tratamento adicional sem adubação fosfatada, com três repetições, conduzido no segundo semestre de 2015. As variáveis mensuradas foram produção de massa seca, acúmulo de fósforo na planta, eficiência agronômica, fisiológica e de recuperação. As avaliações foram realizadas em dois cortes nas plantas de milheto (65 e 110 dias após germinação). Com os dados realizou-se análise de variância seguida do teste de t para as fontes e análise de regressão para as doses, além de teste de Dunnet para comparar a adubação fosfatada com a testemunha. No primeiro corte, constata-se que mesmo em doses baixas de P2O5(35 kg ha-1 de P2O5), a biomassa aumenta em relação à testemunha. O incremento das doses de fósforo aumentou o acúmulo deste nutriente em plantas de milheto. Quando analisa-se o acumulado dos dois cortes de milheto, o fertilizante organomineral proporcionou maior conteúdo do nutriente em relação ao fosfato monoamônico a partir de 127 kg ha-1 de P2O5.

This study aimed to describe and characterize the stages of gonadal development of females of Xiphopenaeus kroyeri caught by artisanal fishers in Espírito Santo state, southeastern region of Brazil. All females (n= 1,831) were subjected to macroscopic and microscopic morphological analysis (n= 333) of the ovaries. From the morphology, coloration and degree of turgidity of the fresh ovary, macroscopic analysis determined five stages of gonadal development. The macroscopic analysis showed difficulties in differentiating the immature and spawning stages due to the similarity between the colors of the ovaries, which confirms the need to perform the macroscopic and histological analysis simultaneously for fisheries management studies. Microscopic observations allowed us to analyze the following six stages of cell development: oogonia, previtellogenic oocytes, primary vitellogenic oocytes, secondary vitellogenic oocytes, mature oocytes and atretic oocytes. From this, five stages of gonadal development were defined, i.e., immature, early development, advanced development, mature and spawned. The presence of peripheral bodies was not observed in this species. These results help to clarify and better understand the reproductive and population aspects of the Atlantic Seabob, which are fundamental for the establishment of management and conservation measures of this resource.

Integrated systems (crops, livestock, and forest) are tools to avoid increases in greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, such as CO2, CH4, and N2O. The objective of this study was to evaluate the GHG emissions and soil biological and chemical characteristics in an integrated system. Cardiovascular diseases are the number one cause of death worldwide. Detecting cardiovascular diseases in its early stages could effectively reduce the mortality rate by providing timely treatment. In this study, we propose a new methodology to detect arrythmias, using 2D Convolutional Neural Networks. The main characteristic of the proposed methodology is the use of 15 x15 pixels gray-level images, containing the values of a heartbeat of the ECG signal. This work aims to detect 17 arrythmias. To validate and test the proposed methodology, MIT-BIH database, the main benchmark database available in literature, was used. When compared to other results previously published, the obtained precision, 92.31%, is in the state-of-the-art.Clinical Relevance- The presented work provides an automatic method to detect arrythmias in ECG signals by a new methodology.
