1. Retention rate of abatacept in rheumatoid arthritis patients in a real-life setting: results from a monocentric cohort

Abstract

Objective. Data from trials demonstrated that abatacept (ABA) has a good safety and efficacy profile in treating rheumatoid arthritis. We have studied the retention rate of ABA in a real-life cohort of patients with rheumatoid arthritis. Methods. This is a monocentric, retrospective study including patients with rheumatoid arthritis classified by the American College of Rheumatology/European League Against Rheumatism 2010 criteria who started treatment with ABA. The Kaplan-Meier method was applied to evaluate the ABA retention rate. Results. This analysis was conducted on 161 patients [male/female 21/140, median age 65 years, interquartile range (IQR) 18.7, median disease duration 169 months, IQR 144.0]. 111 patients (68.9%) received ABA subcutaneously. ABA was associated with methotrexate in 61.9% of patients and was the first biological disease-modifying antirheumatic drug in 41%. We observed a median ABA survival of 66 months [95% confidence interval (CI) 57.3-74.7], with a retention rate of 88% at 6 months and 50.9% at 5 years. Drug survival was significantly higher in patients treated with ABA subcutaneously and in male patients (p=0.039 and p=0.018, respectively). Adjusted for main confounders, female gender was the main predictor of withdrawal (hazard ratio 5.1, 95% CI 1.2-21.3). Conclusions. Our study shows that better survival is associated with subcutaneous administration and male gender, confirming ABA effectiveness.

2. Generalized plasma waves in layered superconductors: A unified approach

Abstract

In a layered and strongly anisotropic superconductor, the hybrid modes provided by the propagation of electromagnetic waves in the matter identify two well-separated energy scales connected to the large in-plane plasma frequency and to the soft out-of-plane Josephson plasmon. Despite wide interest in their detection and manipulation by means of different experimental protocols, the physical ingredients underlying a unified description of plasma waves valid at arbitrary energy and momentum are still poorly understood. Here we provide a complete description of generalized plasma waves in layered superconductors in terms of the gauge-invariant superconducting phase by including both the Coulomb interaction and the relativistic effects. We show that the anisotropy of the superfluid response leads to two intertwined hybrid light-matter modes with mixed longitudinal and transverse character, while a purely longitudinal plasmon is only recovered for wave vectors larger than the crossover scale set in by the plasma-frequency anisotropy. Interestingly, below such scale both modes appear with equal weight in the physical density response. Our results open a promising perspective for plasmonic applications made possible by next-generation spectroscopic techniques able to combine submicron momentum resolution with THz energy resolution.

Abstract

Here we present a new, pan-North-Atlantic compilation of data on key mesozooplankton species, including the most important copepod, Calanus finmarchicus. Distributional data of eight representative zooplankton taxa, from recent (2000–2009) Continuous Plankton Recorder data, are presented, along with basin-scale data of the phytoplankton colour index. Then we present a compilation of data on C. finmarchicus, including observations of abundance, demography, egg production and female size, with accompanying data on temperature and chlorophyll. 4. Electron-Phonon Interaction in Strongly Correlated Systems

Abstract

The Hubbard-Holstein model is a simple model including both electron-phonon interaction and electron-electron correlations. We review a body of theoretical work investigating, the effects of strong correlations on the electron-phonon interaction. We focus on the regime, relevant to high-Tc superconductors, in which the electron correlations are dominant. We find that electron-phonon interaction can still have important signatures, even if many anomalies appear, and the overall effect is far from conventional. In particular in the paramagnetic phase the effects of phonons are much reduced in the low-energy properties, while the high-energy physics can still be affected by phonons. Moreover, the electron-phonon interaction can give rise to important effects, like phase separation and charge-ordering, and it assumes a predominance of forward scattering even if the bare interaction is assumed to be local (momentum independent). Antiferromagnetic correlations reduce the screening effects due to electron-electron interactions and revive the electron-phonon effects.

Abstract

In this work we propose an index to estimate the gut microbiota biodiversity using a modeling approach with the aim of describing its relationship with health and aging. The gut microbiota, a complex ecosystem that links nutrition and metabolism, has a pervasive effect on all body organs and systems, undergoes profound changes with age and life-style, and substantially contributes to the pathogenesis of age-related diseases. For these reasons, the gut microbiota is a suitable candidate for assessing and quantifying healthy aging, i.e. the capability of individuals to reach an advanced age, avoiding or postponing major age-related diseases. The importance of the gut microbiota in health and aging has been proven to be related not only to its taxonomic composition, but also to its ecological properties, namely its biodiversity. Following an ecological approach, here we intended to characterize the relationship between the gut microbiota biodiversity and healthy aging through the development a parsimonious model of gut microbiota from which biodiversity can be estimated. We analysed publicly available metagenomic data relative to subjects of different ages, countries, nutritional habits and health status and we showed that a hybrid niche-neutral model well describes the observed patterns of bacterial relative abundance. Moreover, starting from such ecological modeling, we derived an estimate of the gut microbiota biodiversity that is consistent with classical indices, while having a higher statistical power. This allowed us to unveil an increase of the gut microbiota biodiversity during aging and to provide a good predictor of health status in old age, dependent on life-style and aging disorders.

Abstract

In this paper, we investigate the XY model in the presence of an additional potential term that independently tunes the vortex fugacity favouring their nucleation. By increasing the strength of this term and thereby the vortex chemical potential µ, we observe significant changes in the phase diagram with the emergence of a normal vortex-antivortex lattice as well as a superconducting vortex-antivortex crystal (lattice supersolid) phase. We examine the transition lines between these two phases and the conventional non-crystalline one as a function of both the temperature and the chemical potential. Our findings suggest the possibility of a peculiar tricritical point where second-order, first-order, and infinite-order transition lines meet. We discuss the differences between the present phase diagram and previous results for two-dimensional Coulomb gas models. Abstract

This paper is the first in a series providing updated guidance on the definition, evaluation and management of people with a Cystic Fibrosis Transmembrane conductance Regulator (CFTR)-Related Disorder (CFTR-RD). The need for this update relates to more precise characterisation of CFTR gene variants and improved assessment of CFTR protein dysfunction. The exercise is co-ordinated by the European CF Society Standards of Care Committee and Diagnostic Network Working Group and involves stakeholder engagement. This first paper was produced by a core group using an extensive literature review and papers graded for their quality. Subsequent wider stakeholder agreement was achieved. The definition of a CFTR-RD remains "a clinical condition with evidence of CFTR protein dysfunction that does not fulfil the diagnostic criteria for CF". Clearer guidance on CFTR dysfunction and relevant CFTR variants will be provided. Thresholds for clinical presentations are presented and the paradigm that pathobiological processes may be evident in more than one organ is agreed. In this paper we reflect on the early patient journey, highlighting that CF specialists as well as other relevant specialists should be involved in the care of people with a CFTR-RD.

Abstract

We investigate the physics of an adiabatic transition from a BCS superconductor to a Fermi liquid for an exponentially slow decreasing pairing interaction. In particular, we show that the metal keeps memory of the parent BCS state so it is possible to reverse the dynamics and go back to the original state similarly to a spin/photon echo experiment. Moreover, we study the evolution of the order parameter phase phi in transforming the BCS superconductor to a conventional metal. Since the global phase is the conjugate variable of the density we explicitly show how to use the dynamics of phi together with gauge invariance to build up the non-interacting chemical potential away from particle-hole symmetry. We further analyze the role of phi in restoring the gauge invariant current response when the non-interacting Fermi liquid is approached starting from a BCS superconductor in the presence of an external vector field., Comment: 13 pages, 12 figures

Abstract

In two-dimensional (2D) systems, the melting from a solid to an isotropic liquid can occur via an intermediate phase that retains orientational order. However, in 2D superconducting vortex lattices, the effect of orientational correlations on transport, and their interplay with disorder remain open questions. Here we study a 2D weakly pinned vortex system in amorphous MoGe films over an extensive range of temperatures ($\bm{T}$) and perpendicular magnetic fields ($\bm{H}$) using linear and nonlinear transport measurements. We find that, at low fields, the resistivity obeys the Vogel-Fulcher-Tamman (VFT) form, $\bm{\rho(T)\propto\exp[-{W}(H)/(T-T_0(H))]}$, characteristic of fragile glasses. As $\bm{H}$ increases, $\bm{T_0(H)}$ is suppressed to zero, and a standard vortex liquid behavior consistent with a $\bm{T=0}$ superconducting transition is observed. Our findings, supported also by simulations, suggest that the presence of orientational correlations gives rise to a heterogeneous dynamics responsible for the VFT behavior. The effects of quenched disorder become dominant at high $\bm{H}$, where a crossover to a strong-glass behavior is observed. Abstract

BackgroundIn psoriatic arthritis (PsA) and rheumatoid arthritis (RA) systemic inflammation is known to cause endothelial dysfunction(1). Nailfold videocapillaroscopy (NVC) analyzes in vivo blood vessels, looking for alterations due to microvascular damage, and its application in these pathologies often highlights interesting abnormalities. PsA is characterized by lower mean capillary length and density and abnormal morphology, such as tight terminal convolutions. In RA typically elongated and dilated capillaries and prominent subpapillary plexus are described(2, 3). Differences between RA and PsA NCV patterns are known but not well defined yet(3).ObjectivesAim of our study was to evaluate the microvascular features circulation by NVC in patients affected by PsA and RA, looking for possible differences that may characterize the two diseases.MethodsWe recruited outpatients affected by PsA or RA classified according to standard criteria(4, 5) referring to the Rheumatology Unit at Sapienza University of Rome. Healthy controls (HCs) without known risk factors for nailfold capillary alterations(6) were also recruited. Patients and HCs underwent NVC with a 200x magnification lens. The following morphological parameters were considered: number of capillaries per square millimeter, alterations in length, dimension, morphology and distribution of the capillary; presence of ectatic loops, hemorrhages, flux abnormalities(7, 8). A semi-quantitative rating scale was adopted to score these changes, according to previous studies(9). The mean score for each subject was obtained by analyzing all fingers, except the thumbs.For the statistical analysis, Chi-square and Mann-Whitney tests were used. All tests were two-sided with a significance level set at pResultsWe recruited 34 patients (20 with PsA and 14 with RA) and 30 HCs. For patients, the mean age was 61,7 years (SD 15,4), median disease duration was 184 months (SD 204) and males were 18 (53%). Active or past smokers were 11 (18%), 9 (15%) suffered from arterial hypertension and 2 (0.03%) from type 2 diabetes mellitus. Raynaud’s phenomenon was present in 4 patients with PsA (20%) and 6 with RA (43%).The most frequent morphological changes were tortuous capillaries (90% in PsA and 100% in RA), single-crossing shape (90% and 86%) and bizarre capillaries (30% in both groups) while multiple crossing and ramified capillaries were present in 50% and 21 % RA patients only.With respect to HCs, we found significantly more frequent changes concerning morphology, ectatic loops, presence of hemorrhages and capillary plexus visibility in both PsA and RA patients. Moreover, patients with RA showed significantly more frequent abnormalities of the blood flow with respect to HCs. 27. POS1253 THE COURSE OF COVID-19 IN A COHORT OF SPONDYLOARTHRITIS PATIENTS: A CASE-CONTROL PROSPECTIVE STUDY

Abstract

BackgroundWith the outbreak of the SARS-CoV-2 pandemic, the rheumatologists’ attention was directed at understanding whether infected patients could have a less favorable outcome. Available data seem to indicate that the course in rheumatic patients is not dissimilar from that in the general population. However, data on the outcome of COVID-19 in patients with spondyloarthritis (SpA) are scant.ObjectivesTo describe the outcome of COVID-19 in patients with SpA in terms of hospitalization, need of oxygen therapy, and symptoms compared to a control group. The variation in disease activity before and after COVID-19 was also assessed.MethodsWe enrolled adult patients with psoriatic arthritis (PsA) and ankylosing spondylitis (AS) classified according to standard criteria, that received a diagnosis of COVID-19 through molecular or rapid antigen swab tests between September 2020 and January 2022. Demographic and clinical data, including age, body mass index (BMI), smoking habit, comorbidities, rheumatic treatment at diagnosis of COVID-19, date of COVID-19 diagnosis, symptoms and additional therapy during the infection and vaccination status were collected through a questionnaire and recorded on an electronic database. Disease activity, assessed by DAPSA in PsA patients and by BASDAI and ASDAS in AS patients, was evaluated before and at the first visit after the infection. As controls, individuals with COVID-19 but with no known diagnosis of rheumatic/autoimmune disease were recruited using the “best friend” system.ResultsSixty-two patients were enrolled [43 with PsA and 19 with AS; F:M=40:22; median age 51 years, 25th-75th percentile 39.5-61; median BMI 25.5, 25th-75th percentile 21.75-28; median disease duration 90 months, 25th-75th percentile 36-192; 6 (9.7%) smokers, 37 (59.7%) non-smokers, 19 (30.6%) past smokers; 15 (24.2%) only treated with one conventional DMARD, 27 (43.5%) with bDMARDs and 20 (32.3%) with both; 44 (71%) had received no vaccine, 18 (29%) one or more doses of vaccine]. Forty-eight controls were also recruited [F:M=29:19; median age 48 years, 25th-75th percentile 41.5-57; median BMI 23.86, 25th-75th percentile 20.69-28.03; 10 (20.83%) smokers, 28 (58.33%) non-smokers, 10 (20.83%) past smokers; 43 (89.6%) had received no vaccine, 5 (10.4%) one or more doses of vaccine]. Among patients, 10 (16.1%) were hospitalized, of whom 8 (80%) required noninvasive oxygen therapy. Among controls, 7 (14.5%) were hospitalized, of whom 5 (71.4%) required noninvasive oxygen therapy. No differences were observed compared to the control group in terms of hospitalization and need for oxygen support. Likewise, the two groups did not bear any statistically significant difference in terms of symptoms (fever, dysgeusia, dyspnoea) and cardiovascular and respiratory comorbidities. BMI and smoking habit did not influence the outcome of COVID-19 in SpA patients, while a BMI of 25 or above was associated with hospitalization in the control group (p=0.0004, RR 3.417). Baseline treatment with immunosuppressants did not influence the disease outcome. DAPSA, ASDAS, and BASDAI did not significantly change after the infection (Table 1). Abstract

Purpose Aim of the study to assess the clinical relevance of vasculitis, in terms of survival and cardiac allograft vasculopathy development in the mild forms of rejection in HTx adult patients Methods We review 2639 monitoring EMBs from 172 adult heart transplanted pts at our center from January 2008 to September 2016, median follow up of 4,59 (range 0,13-8,78 years), with a mean of 15 EMB per pts. For each EMB we evaluated vasculitis and types of rejection classified according to 1990 and 2005 ISHLT classification for ACR and 2013 ISHLT classification for AMR. Clinical data were collected during follow up. For statistical analysis we applied the Multi-State Markov (MSM) model to describe the rejection profile of the subjects during the follow-up. Results Four hundred and twelve EMBs were positive for vasculitis, (412 / 2639; 15,6%), in 134 pts (134/172; 78,5%). In acute cellular rejection vasculitis was present in 329/964 (34,1%) in 1R, in 69/132 (52,3%) in 2R and 14/20 (70%) in 3R. In antibody mediated rejection vasculitis was present in 52/144 (36%) of EMBs. Transition probabilities showed that presence of vasculitis associated to ACR carries a risk of persistence of rejections of 78% (95% CI, 74%-82%), whereas vasculitis associated to pAMR carries a risk of persistence of rejection of 50% (95% CI, 30%-70%). The transitions rate risk of develop CAV was 11.01 (95% CI, 8.61-14.84) fold higher for vasculitis with pAMR+ACR compared to any other rejections without vasculitis. The transition rate risk for death was 21.18 (95% CI, 8.61-109.06) fold higher risk for vasculitis + pAMR and 2.83 (95% CI, 1.08-7.94) fold higher risk vasculitis with pAMR+ACR compared to any other rejections without vasculitis. Conclusion Vasculitis was present in any grades and types of rejection and is associated with persistence of rejection, CAV development and death. The worse histopathological features is represented by the association of pAMR+ACR and vasculitis.

Abstract

Purpose In a previous study we identified microRNAs (miRNAs) signatures specific for the three types of rejection in formalin fixed paraffin embedded (FFPE) endo-myocardial biopsies (EMBs) from selected patients (pts), excluding infected . The aim of the study was to test the ability of each miRNA to distinguish infection from rejection. Methods In the single center present study, we chose randomly 46 monitoring FFPE-EMBs from 40 Heart transplanted (HTX) pts in the last two years. Levels of expression of miRNAs signature for ACR: miR-27b-3p; 29b-3p; 199a-3p;208a-5p;302b-3p, AMR: 208a-5p, 29b-3p,135a-5p, 144-3p and for MR: 208a-5p;126-5p;135a-5p were quantified by real-time reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction(RT-qPCR). The discriminative ability of each miRNA for comparison between Rejection and Infection was assessed by univariate analysis of variance (ANOVA). Receiver-operating characteristic (ROC) curve analyses were performed to test the discriminating performance of single miRNAs. Results We tested all the miRNAs previously identified as biomarkers of rejection on FFPE-EMBs in cases with rejection and infection. The RT-qPCR analysis showed the statistically significant overexpression of miRNA-208a 5p (Bartlett's test p=0.0004) and miRNA 135a 5p (Bartlett's test p=0.0029) in infection. The ROC curves demonstrated a high sensitivity and sensibility for both miRNAs (fig.1), AUC 0.80 (I.C.95%:0.5981 to 1.002) and AUC:0.78 (I.C 95%.:0,6228 to 0,9456) respectively. Conclusion miRNA-208a-5p and miRNA-135a-5p tested in FFPE-EMBs have diagnostic ability to discriminate infection from rejection.

Abstract

Bioresorbable materials for implants have become increasingly researched over the last years. The bone-implant-interfaces of three different implant materials, namely a new bioresorbable magnesium alloy, a new self-reinforced polymer implant and a conventional titanium alloy, were tested using various methods: push-out tests, SEM and EDX analyses as well as surface analyses based on stereoscopic 3D pictures were conducted. The fracture energy is proposed as a very significant reference value for characterizing the mechanical performance of a bone-implant system. By using a video-extensometer system instead of, as is commonly done, tracking the movement of the crosshead in the push-out tests, the accuracy of measurement could be increased.

Abstract

Resume Depuis 20 ans, de nombreux travaux prouvent que les nourrissons vivant dans des milieux familiaux educativement tres defaillants sont en etat de stress permanent a cause des traumatismes relationnels precoces qu’ils subissent. Cela entraine une augmentation de la secretion du cortisol, dont la consequence est une atteinte des structures cerebrales, en particulier de l’hippocampe. Il s’ensuit un dysfonctionnement au niveau de la regulation des emotions avec des reponses violentes automatiques, au niveau des comportements d’attachement, de la memoire affective et de la memoire des apprentissages. Plusieurs pays considerent que la neuroprotection est donc un element majeur de la protection de l’enfance. Cet article expose la methodologie utilisee pour le dosage du cortisol salivaire, reflet exact du cortisol sanguin, aupres de nourrissons vivant dans des milieux familiaux traumatisants au niveau psychologique, en correlation avec la mesure du quotient de developpement. Le taux bas de cortisol n’est pas retrouve. La discussion porte sur les travaux recents qui montrent que le stress chronique provoque des anomalies de la courbe de secretion du cortisol salivaire plutot qu’un abaissement constant de son niveau. Par ailleurs, il apparait qu’un QD bas est un marqueur precoce de la souffrance psychique du nourrisson. Le fait que cette recherche ait eu lieu au domicile des enfants a permis de mettre en evidence la specificite de certaines interactions mere–enfant dans ces contextes et la necessite de realiser des visites a domicile pour evaluer precisement ces interactions. Enfin, il est souligne la difficulte d’effectuer de telles recherches en France, du fait d’obstacles ideologiques.

Abstract

Background Crossed k-wire osteosynthesis is a widely used procedure for displaced supracondylar humerus fractures in children, but the rate of secondary displacements is up to 31%. Alternative techniques including casts, elastic stable intramedullary nailing, and the fixateur extern, have been used, but there are no biomechanical data comparing these methods. We developed a biomechanical model to compare four osteosynthesis techniques for stabilizing supracondylar humerus fractures in children. Methods An osteotomy to simulate a fracture was made in a total of 32 adult cadaver humeri. The pseudofractures were then stabilized by crossed k-wires, elastic nailing, a fixateur extern with either k-wires, or Schanz screws. We measured the stiffness values in flexion and extension and torsion with static loading. The movements in cyclic loading were chosen to resemble the mechanism described in the development of a clinical cubitus varus. Findings No significant differences were found with static loading. With cyclic loading all methods showed an irreversible torsional deformation less than 20°. Crossed k-wires and elastic nailing showed significantly lower reversible torsional deformation than the external fixateurs. Interpretation Our biomechanical data reveal that the crossed k-wires have the highest stiffness and lowest loss of reduction under cyclic loading. The external fixators proved to be good alternatives.

Abstract

Summary Introduction: The purpose of the study was to determine the outcome after treatment of transitional fractures of the distal tibia, including growth disturbances, osteoarthritis, and/or restriction of the ability to take part in sports. Patients and methods: In a retrospective multicentre study of 72 patients, 50 were evaluated by clinical and 46 by radiographic examination, an average of 7.4 years (standard deviation 5.9) after treatment. Of these 50 patients, initially 20 were treated non-operatively and 30 were treated operatively. The mechanism was mainly supination trauma. Results: There were four revision operations, including two for fracture displacement after earlier non-operative treatment. No patients reported impairment of sports activities. In no case was the range of movement in the upper ankle joint decreased by >10°. Radiographic examination revealed small osteophytes in one case and narrowing of the joint space in two; there was no axial deviation or clinical problems in any of these cases. There were no significant differences between the group treated non-operatively and the group that underwent surgery. The intermediate- to long-term outcome presented was good or very good in both the surgically and conservatively treated patients. Only two of the initially nondisplaced fractures later became displaced. This finding emphasises that operative treatment is not indicated for all nondisplaced fractures. Axial deviations may not occur, because of the little growth potential of the partially closed physis.

Abstract

Hintergrund. Die haufigste Lasion am kindlichen Ellenbogen ist die suprakondylare Humerusfraktur.Bei stark dislozierten Frakturen ist die perkutane Osteosynthese mit Kirschner-Drahten eine Standardmethode. Diese erfordert eine Gipsbehandlung und geht mit bekannten postoperativen Komplikationen Schadigung des N. ulnaris, sekundare Dislokationen, die einen Cubitus varus nach sich ziehen konnen, einher. In dieser Studie wurde untersucht,inwieweit die elastisch stabile intramedullare Nagelung (ESIN) mit postoperativer Freigabe des Bewegungsumfanges bei der Versorgung suprakondylarer Oberarmfrakturen im Kindesalter Vorteile bietet. Patienten und Methode. In diese Studie wurden alle Kinder zwischen 1 und 14 Jahren, die vom 1.6.1999 bis 30.5.2001 wegen einer suprakondylaren Oberarmfraktur mit einer Dislokation in mindestens 2 Ebenen behandelt wurden, aufgenommen.Bei allen Patienten wurde postoperativ die Bewegung freigegeben.Eine Nachuntersuchung zur Erfassung aller postoperativen Komplikationen wurde mindestens 6 Monate nach Trauma durchgefuhrt. Ergebnisse. In diese prospektive Studie wurden 20 Madchen und 30 Jungen eingeschlossen. In keinem Fall trat postoperativ eine Schadigung des N. ulnaris oder eine sekundare Dislokation mit daraus resultierendem Cubitus varus auf. In 5 (10%) Fallen traten geringfugige technische Komplikationen auf (Perforation des Drahtes, Klaffen des Frakturspaltes mit konsekutiver Achsenfehlstellung). Die Analyse der postoperativen Rontgenbilder ergab am haufigsten eine belassene Achsenfehlstellung in der Sagittalebene.Varisierungen bzw.Valgisierungen traten bei Frakturen mit entsprechender Trummerzone auf. Es konnten 47 der 50 Patienten nachuntersucht werden (94%). Die Analyse des Bewegungsumfanges zeigte ein mit der radiologischen Diagnostik ubereinstimmendes klinisches Bild. In nur 1 (2,1%) Fall betrug die Seitendifferenz des Funktionsdefizites mehr als 10°. Schlussfolgerung. Vorteile des Verfahrens sind die hohe Rate an gedeckten Stabilisationen, ohne auf ein offenes Manover wegen stark geschwollener Weichteile umsteigen zu mussen, sowie die Vermeidung iatrogener N.-ulnaris-Schaden.Sekundare Dislokationen mit daraus resultierendem Cubitus varus traten nicht auf.Die Ubungsstabilitat und gipsfreie Nachbehandlung sind moglich.

Abstract

A nonsingular static and spherically symmetric space–time endowed with nonminimally coupled scalar field described by the action S=∫d4 x (−g/2)(R−gαβφ,α φ,β−ξ R φ2) is presented for the case in which the coupling parameter ξ>1/6. This solitonlike space–time is obtained using the technique of conformal transformation that associates solutions produced by ordinary scalar fields in general relativity with those with nonminimally coupled scalar fields. The dynamical stability of the solution is examined through the Galerkin method.
