Abstract: We report the timing analysis of PSR J1846−0513, a pulsar discovered by the Five-hundred-meter Aperture Spherical radio Telescope (FAST) in Commensal Radio Astronomy FAST Survey. The pulsar possesses a spin period of 23.36 ms and a spin-down rate ( $\dot{P}$ ) of 1.0106(3) × 10 ^−18 s s ^−1 , and it is located in an eccentric orbit ( e ∼0.208) with an orbital period of 0.61 days. The characteristic age and surface magnetic field of the pulsar are found to be 366.62 Myr and 4.9178 × 10 ^9 G, respectively, indicating that it is a recycled pulsar. Using over two years of timing data, we measure the periastron advance $\dot{\omega }$ = 0.8956(8) deg yr ^−1 . By assuming that this effect is purely relativistic, we have estimated the total mass M = 2.6287(35) M _⊙ and obtained an upper limit for the pulsar mass and a lower limit for the companion’s mass. Our results indicate that this is a double neutron star system.

Abstract: We report the first detection of polarization angle orthogonal jumps, a phenomenon previously only observed from radio pulsars, from a fast radio burst (FRB) source FRB 20201124A. We find three cases of orthogonal jumps in over 2000 bursts, all resembling those observed in pulsar single pulses. We propose that the jumps are due to the superposition of two orthogonal emission modes that could only be produced in a highly magnetized plasma, and they are caused by the line of sight sweeping across a rotating magnetosphere. The shortest jump timescale is of the order of 1 millisecond, which hints that the emission modes come from regions smaller than the light cylinder of most pulsars or magnetars. This discovery provides convincing evidence that FRB emission originates from the complex magnetosphere of a magnetar, suggesting an FRB emission mechanism that is analogous to radio pulsars despite a huge luminosity difference between two types of objects.

Abstract: We present phase-connected timing ephemerides, polarization pulse profiles, and Faraday rotation measurements of 12 pulsars discovered by the Five-hundred-meter Aperture Spherical radio Telescope (FAST) in the Commensal Radio Astronomy FAST Survey. The observational data for each pulsar span at least 1 yr. Among them, PSR J1840+2843 shows subpulse drifting, and five pulsars are detected to exhibit pulse nulling phenomena. PSR J0640−0139 and PSR J2031−1254 are isolated millisecond pulsars (MSPs) with stable spin-down rates ( $\dot{P}$ ) of 4.8981(6) × 10 ^−20 s s ^−1 and 6.01(2) × 10 ^−21 s s ^−1 , respectively. Additionally, one pulsar (PSR J1602−0611) is in a neutron star−white dwarf (WD) binary system with an 18.23-day orbit and a companion of ≤0.65 M _⊙ . PSR J1602−0611 has a spin period, companion mass, and orbital eccentricity that are consistent with the theoretical expectations for MSP−helium WD (He WD) systems. Therefore, we believe that it might be an MSP−He WD binary system. The locations of PSR J1751−0542 and PSR J1840+2843 on the $P-\dot{P}$ diagram are beyond the traditional death line. This indicates that FAST has discovered some low- $\dot{E}$ pulsars, contributing new samples for testing pulsar radiation theories. We estimated the distances of these 12 pulsars based on NE2001 and YMW16 electron density models, and our work enhances the data set for investigating the electron density model of the Galaxy.

Abstract: PSR J2150+3427 is a 0.654 s pulsar discovered by the Commensal Radio Astronomy FAST Survey. From the follow-up observations, we find that the pulsar is in a highly eccentric orbit ( e = 0.601) with an orbital period of 10.592 days and a projected semimajor axis of 25.488 lt-s. Using 2.7 yr of timing data, we also measured the rate of periastron advance $\dot{\omega }$ = 0.0115(4) deg yr ^−1 . An estimate for the total mass of the system using the $\dot{\omega }$ gives M _tot = 2.59(13) M _⊙ , which is consistent with most of the known double neutron star (DNS) systems and one neutron star (NS)–white dwarf (WD) system named B2303+46. Combining $\dot{\omega }$ with the mass function of the system gives the masses of M _p < 1.67 and M _c > 0.98 M _⊙ for the pulsar and the companion star, respectively. This constraint, along with the spin period and orbital parameters, suggests that it is possibly a DNS system, and we cannot entirely rule out the possibility of an NS–WD system. Future timing observations will vastly improve the uncertainty in $\dot{\omega }$ , and are likely to allow the detection of additional relativistic effects, which can be used to modify the values of M _p and M _c . With a spin-down luminosity of $\dot{E}$ = 5.07(6) × 10 ^29 erg s ^−1 , PSR J2150+3427 is a very low-luminosity pulsar, with only the binary pulsar J2208+4610 having a smaller $\dot{E}$ .

6. Follow-up timing of 24 pulsars discovered in commensal radio astronomy FAST survey

Abstract: The follow-up timing observations were carried out for 24 pulsars discovered with the Five-hundred-meter Aperture Spherical radio Telescope (FAST) in Commensal Radio Astronomy FAST Survey. We report their phase-connected timing ephemeris, polarization pulse profiles, and Faraday rotation measurements. With their spin periods spanning from 2.995 ms to 4.34 s, their period derivatives were determined to spread between 7.996(8) × 10−21 and 9.83(3) × 10−15 s s−1, which imply that they have characteristic ages from 1.97 × 106 to 5.93 × 109 yr. It is inferred that PSRs J0211+4235 and J0518+2431 are beyond the ‘traditional death line’. PSR J0211+4235 is beyond the ‘death valley’. The death line model of Zhang et al. also cannot explain the radio presence of PSR J0211+4235. This suggests that radiation theory needs to be improved. Besides, ten of the 22 canonical pulsars show nulling phenomena. Moreover, PSR J1617+1123 exhibits variation of emission and J0540+4542 shows subpulse drifting. The DM of five pulsars is larger than the estimated by the YMW16 electron density model, which could suggest that electron density models need updates for higher Galactic latitude regions. PSRs J0447+2447 and J1928−0548 are isolated millisecond pulsars. With their flux densities spanning from 5(1)–553(106) μJy, some of these new pulsars found by FAST are distant, dim, and low-$\dot{E}$ ones and are suitable for testing pulsar emission theories.

Abstract: We report the phase-connected timing ephemeris, polarization pulse profiles, Faraday rotation measurements, and Rotating-Vector-Model (RVM) fitting results of 12 millisecond pulsars (MSPs) discovered with the Five-hundred-meter Aperture Spherical radio Telescope (FAST) in the Commensal Radio Astronomy FAST survey (CRAFTS). The timing campaigns were carried out with FAST and Arecibo over 3 yr. 11 of the 12 pulsars are in neutron star–white dwarf binary systems, with orbital periods between 2.4 and 100 d. 10 of them have spin periods, companion masses, and orbital eccentricities that are consistent with the theoretical expectations for MSP–Helium white dwarf (He WD) systems. The last binary pulsar (PSR J1912−0952) has a significantly smaller spin frequency and a smaller companion mass, the latter could be caused by a low orbital inclination for the system. Its orbital period of 29 d is well within the range of orbital periods where some MSP–He WD systems have shown anomalous eccentricities, however, the eccentricity of PSR J1912−0952 is typical of what one finds for the remaining MSP–He WD systems.

8. The discovery of a rotating radio transient J1918$-$0449 with intriguing emission properties with the five hundred meter aperture spherical radio telescope

Abstract: In this study, we report on a detailed single pulse analysis of the radio emission from a rotating radio transient (RRAT) J1918$-$0449 which is the first RRAT discovered with the five hundred meter aperture spherical radio telescope (FAST). The sensitive observations were carried out on 30 April 2021 using the FAST with a central frequency of 1250 MHz and a short time resolution of 49.152 $\mu$s, which forms a reliable basis to probe single pulse emission properties in detail. The source was successively observed for around 2 hours. A total of 83 dispersed bursts with significance above 6$\sigma$ are detected over 1.8 hours. The source's DM and rotational period are determined to be 116.1$\pm$0.4 \pcm \ and 2479.21$\pm$0.03 ms, respectively. The share of registered pulses from the total number of observed period is 3.12\%. No underlying emission is detected in the averaged off pulse profile. For bursts with fluence larger than 10 Jy ms, the pulse energy follows a power-law distribution with an index of $-3.1\pm0.4$, suggesting the existence of bright pulse emission. We find that the distribution of time between subsequent pulses is consistent with a stationary Poisson process and find no evidence of clustering over the 1.8 h observations, giving a mean burst rate of one burst every 66 s. Close inspection of the detected bright pulses reveals that 21 pulses exhibit well-defined quasi-periodicities. The subpulse drifting is present in non-successive rotations with periodicity of $2.51\pm0.06$ periods. Finally, possible physical mechanisms are discussed., Comment: 11 pages, 11 figures

Abstract: We present the first measurement of pulse scattering close to the eclipse region of PSR B1957+20, which is in a compact binary system with a low-mass star. We measured pulse scattering time-scales up to 0.2 ms close to the eclipse and showed that it scales with the dispersion measure (DM) excess roughly as $\tau\propto\Delta{\rm DM}^{2}$. Our observations provide the first evidence of strong scattering due to multi-path propagation effects in the eclipsing material. We show that Kolmogorov turbulence in the eclipsing material with an inner scale of $\sim100$ m and an outer scale of the size of the eclipse region can naturally explain the observation. Our results show that the eclipsing material in such systems can be highly turbulent and suggest that scattering is one of the main eclipsing mechanisms at around 1.4 GHz., Comment: 8 pages, 4 figures, MNRAS accepted

Abstract: We report the results of timing observations of PSR J1952+2630, a 20.7 ms pulsar in orbit with a massive white dwarf companion. We performed six months of timing observations with the Arecibo radio telescope in 2020 and used data from FAST from 2021. Together with previously published data, this represents a total timing baseline of 11 yr since the discovery of the pulsar in 2010. For the first time, we present a polarimetric profile of the pulsar and determine its rotation measure (RM), − 145.79 ± 0.15 rad m−2. With the increased timing baseline, we obtain improved estimates for astrometric, spin, and binary parameters for this system. In particular, we obtain an imporvement of an order of magnitude on the proper motion, and, for the first time, we detect three post-Keplerian parameters in this system: the advance of periastron ω̇, the orbital decay Ṗb, and the Shapiro delay (measured in the form of the h3 parameter). With the detection of these relativistic effects, we constrain the pulsar mass to 1.20−0.29+0.28 M⊙ and the mass of its companion to 0.97−0.13+0.16 M⊙. The current value of Ṗb is consistent with the General Relativity expectation for the masses obtained using ω̇ and h3. The excess (4.2−73.1+70.2 fs s−1) represents a limit on the emission of dipolar gravitational waves (GWs) from this system. This results in a limit on the difference in effective scalar couplings for the pulsar and companion (predicted by scalar-tensor theories of gravity; STTs) of |αp − αc|< 4.8 × 10−3 (68% C.L.), which does not yield a competitive test for STTs. However, our simulations of future timing campaigns of this system, based on the timing precision we have achieved with FAST, show that by 2032, the precision of Ṗb and ω̇ will allow for much more precise masses and much tighter constraints on the orbital decay contribution from dipolar GWs, resulting in |αp − αc|< 1.3 × 10−3 (68% C.L.). For comparison, we obtain |αp − αc|< 1.9 × 10−3 and < 3.3 × 10−3 from PSR J1738+0333 and PSR J2222−0137, respectively. We also present the constraints this system will place on the {α0, β0} parameters of Damour-Esposito-Farèse (DEF) gravity by 2032. They are comparable to those of PSR J1738+0333. Unlike PSR J1738+0333, PSR J1952+2630 will not be limited in its mass measurement and has the potential to place even more restrictive limits on DEF gravity in the future. Further improvements to this test will likely be limited by uncertainties in the kinematic contributions to Ṗb because of the lack of precise distance measurements., This work made use of the data from FAST (Five-hundred-meter Aperture Spherical radio Telescope). Abstract: The dispersive sweep of fast radio bursts (FRBs) has been used to probe the ionized baryon content of the intergalactic medium, which is assumed to dominate the total extragalactic dispersion. While the host galaxy contributions to dispersion measure (DM) appear to be small for most FRBs, in at least one case there is evidence for an extreme magneto-ionic local environment and a compact persistent radio source. Here we report the detection and localization of the repeating FRB 20190520B, which is co-located with a compact, persistent radio source and associated with a dwarf host galaxy of high specific star formation rate at a redshift $z=0.241\pm0.001$. The estimated host galaxy DM $\approx 903^{+72}_{-111}$ pc cm$^{-3}$, nearly an order of magnitude higher than the average of FRB host galaxies, far exceeds the DM contribution of the intergalactic medium. Caution is thus warranted in inferring redshifts for FRBs without accurate host galaxy identifications., Accepted, Version 3

Abstract: We report on the pulse-to-pulse energy distribution and longitude-resolved modulation properties of PSR J1631+1252 discovered by the Five-hundred-meter Aperture Spherical radio Telescope. Our analysis made use of the data acquired at 1250 MHz from the follow-up timing observations that lasted over a year. PSR J1631+1252 has a rotational period of ∼0.310 s, and a dispersion measure of ∼32.73 pc cm−3. The energy distribution is well described by a lognormal distribution, the parameters of which do not vary with time. We show that large modulation occurs across the bridge emission of the pulse profile, with sporadic bright bursts at the leading emission region. The fluctuation spectral analysis reveals the existence of subpulse drifting in the leading component with vertical spacing between the drift bands of 3.28 ± 0.08 pulse periods between consecutive drift bands. Possible physical mechanisms for subpulse drifting are discussed.

Abstract: We report on an unusually bright observation of PSR J1720−0533 using the Five-hundred-meter Aperture Spherical radio Telescope (FAST). The pulsar is in a black widow system that was discovered by the Commensal Radio Astronomy FAST Survey (CRAFTS). By coincidence, a bright scintillation maximum was simultaneous with the eclipse in our observation, which allowed for precise measurements of flux density variations, as well as dispersion measure (DM) and polarization. We found that there are quasi-periodic pulse emission variations with a modulation period of ∼22 s during the ingress of the eclipse, which could be caused by plasma lensing. No such periodic modulation was found during the egress of the eclipse. The linear polarization of the pulsar disappears before the eclipse, even before there is a visually obvious change in DM. We also found that the pulse scattering may play an important role in the eclipse of PSR J1720−0533.

N.; Zheng, T. C.; Zou, J. -H., Fast radio bursts (FRBs) are millisecond-duration radio transients of unknown physical origin observed at extragalactic distances1–3. It has long been speculated that magnetars are the engine powering repeating bursts from FRB sources4–13, but no convincing evidence has been collected so far14. Recently, the Galactic magnetar SRG 1935+2154 entered an active phase by emitting intense soft γ-ray bursts15. One FRB-like event with two peaks (FRB 200428) and a luminosity slightly lower than the faintest extragalactic FRBs was detected from the source, in association with a soft γ-ray/hard-X-ray flare18–21. Here we report an eight-hour targeted radio observational campaign comprising four sessions and assisted by multi-wavelength (optical and hard-X-ray) data. During the third session, 29 soft-γ-ray repeater (SGR) bursts were detected in γ-ray energies. Throughout the observing period, we detected no single dispersed pulsed emission coincident with the arrivals of SGR bursts, but unfortunately we were not observing when the FRB was detected. The non-detection places a fluence upper limit that is eight orders of magnitude lower than the fluence of FRB 200428. Our results suggest that FRB–SGR burst associations are rare. FRBs may be highly relativistic and geometrically beamed, or FRB-like events associated with SGR bursts may have narrow spectra and characteristic frequencies outside the observed band. Abstract: Objective: To investigate the causal relationship between gut microbiota and pigmented villonodular synovitis using Mendelian randomization analysis., Methods: We conducted a two-sample Mendelian randomization analysis to investigate the causal relationship between 211 gut microbiome taxa and pigmented villonodular synovitis based on GWAS summary data, with inverse variance weighted (IVW) analysis as the primary result and the other methods as supplementary analyses. The reliability of the results was tested using Cochran's Q test, MR-Egger regression, MR-PRESSO method and conditional Mendelian randomization analysis (cML-MA)., Results: The increased abundance of Barnesiella (OR=3.12, 95% CI : 1.15-8.41, P =0.025) and Rumatococcaceae UCG010 (OR=4.03, 95% CI : 1.19-13.68, P =0.025) may increase the risk of pigmented villous nodular synovitis, and elevated abundance of Lachnospiraceae (OR=0.33, 95% CI : 0.12-0.91, P =0.032), Alistipes (OR=0.16, 95% CI : 0.05-0.53, P =0.003), Blautia (OR=0.20, 95% CI : 0.06-0.61, P =0.005), and Lachnospiraceae FCS020 group (OR=0.38, 95% CI : 0.15-0.94, P =0.036) and Ruminococcaceae UCG014 (OR=0.36, 95% CI : 0.14-0.94, P =0.037) were all associated with a reduced risk of pigmented villonodular synovitis, which were supported by the results of sensitivity analyses. Reverse Mendelian randomization analysis did not reveal any inverse causal association., Conclusion: Increased abundance of specific intestinal microorganisms is associated with increased or decreased risks of developing hyperpigmented villonodular synovitis, and gut microbiota plays an important role in the pathogenesis of this disease.

Abstract: Alzheimer's disease (AD) is a neurodegenerative disorder characterized by progressive cognitive decline, amyloid-β (Aβ) plaques and the formation of neurofibrillary tangles (NFTs) composed of hyperphosphorylated tau. Increasing evidence has demonstrated that the damage of cell plays an important role in AD. Cell death is a critical phenomenon for physiological functions, which promotes AD pathogenesis. Programmed cell death, including necroptosis, pyroptosis, autophagy, and ferroptosis, have been discovered that have unique biological functions and pathophysiological characteristics. Here, we review the available evidence detailing the mechanisms of programmed microglial death, including pyroptosis, autophagy, and ferroptosis. 19. Organic zinc supplementation in early-lactation dairy cows and its effects on zinc content and distribution in milk and cheese.

Abstract: This study investigated the effects of organic zinc (Zn) supplementation in early-lactation dairy cows on Zn content and distribution in raw milk and mozzarella cheese. Thirty-four multiparous dairy cows in early lactation were randomly assigned to 2 groups: basal diet (control; CON) and basal diet supplemented with a Zn AA complex (CZ). After feeding the diets for 8 wk, raw milk was collected for manufacturing mozzarella cheese. Total Zn content and Zn distribution in raw milk and cheese were determined by atomic absorption spectrophotometry. Results showed that milk fat content was significantly increased in the CZ group compared with the CON group. No significant differences in fat, protein, and moisture contents of cheese were observed between the 2 groups. Zinc contents in milk (4.25 vs. 3.85 mg/L) and cheese (38.65 vs. 27.20 mg/kg) were significantly higher in the CZ group than in the CON group. Little Zn was lost in stretch water (<0.04 mg/L) and brine (<0.01 mg/L) during the cheese-making process. Most of the Zn was detected in casein (87.3% vs. 88.4%) of the raw milk, and then in the whey (10.6% vs. 9.88%) and fat (2.07% vs. 1.77%). 20. [Detection and comparison of fiber count concentration in processing environment of asbestos and man-made mineral fiber].

Abstract: Objective: To connect with the measurement data of asbestos dust fiber concentration in foreign countries, improve the accuracy of asbestos fiber detection in China, and understand the dust exposure in the working environment of asbestos and man-made mineral fiber production and processing sites in Zhejiang Province. The fiber count concentrations of working environment in glass fiber, ceramic fiber and asbestos processing plants were measured and compared. Methods: The dust concentration in the working environment of two glass fiber factories, one ceramic fiber factory and eight asbestos products processing factories was measured. The total dust mass concentration was measured according to GBZ/T 192.1-2007, and the fiber count concentration was measured by phase contrast microscope. Kruskal Wallis was used to test and compare the dust concentration in the working environment of each post. The correlation between asbestos mass concentration and fiber count concentration was analyzed by Spearman correlation. Results: Under the phase contrast microscope, there were many short and fine asbestos fibers in the field of vision, and there were many impurities around. The average dust concentration of asbestos processing plant was 3.2 f/ml, and the dust concentration of cotton ginning was the highest (6.68 f/ml) . There was a significantly positive correlation between asbestos fiber count concentration and mass concentration ( r =0.535, P =0.033) . The average fiber count concentration of glass fiber factory was 0.001 f/ml, and the highest was 0.005 f/ml. The average fiber count concentration of ceramic fiber factory was 0.001 f/ml, and the highest was 0.006 f/ml. Conclusion: The fiber count concentration in the working environment of asbestos factory in Zhejiang Province is obviously over the standard, which is one of the important reasons for the high incidence of mesothelioma in this area. Short and small asbestos fibers are easy to be ignored when counting. It is necessary to improve the actual operation process of fiber counting to form a laboratory standard in China.

Abstract: Aim: To determine the relationship of left ventricular mass (LVM) and coronary artery volume in diabetic patients and the controls., Materials and Methods: This work included 448 consecutive patients (206 patients with diabetes and 242 non-diabetic participants) who underwent coronary computed tomography angiography (CTA) for evaluation of coronary artery disease (CAD). The whole coronary artery tree and the LVM were analysed using a cardiac imaging workstation. Multivariable logistic regression analysis was used to determine the independent association with coronary artery lumen volume to LVM ratio (V/M)., Results: The total coronary artery cumulative volume and the coronary cumulative length showed no differences between groups (p>0.05); however, the LVM in patients with diabetes was significantly greater than that in controls (132.46±45.04 versus 115.82±29.13, p=0.006), and the total epicardial coronary arterial lumen volume to LVM ratio (V/M) was significantly lower in the diabetic group than in the non-diabetic group (2.02 cm 3 /100±0.73 g versus 2.31 cm 3 /100±0.82 g, p=0.024). In multivariate logistic regression analysis, diabetes was associated with V/M (odds ratio [OR] 2.027, 95% confidence interval [CI]: 1.462-2.728, p=0.001), and hypertension was not associated with V/M (OR 1.191, 95% CI: 0.978-1.451, p=0.081)., Conclusion: Patients with diabetes demonstrated a significantly lower coronary CTA-derived coronary V/M than controls. Abstract: Objective: To investigate the correlation of ankle-brachial index (ABI) and brachial-ankle pulse wave velocity (baPWV) with cardiac structures and functions changes in patients with essential hypertension (EH)., Patients and Methods: A total of 202 patients with hypertension meeting the inclusion criteria were recruited in our hospital from June 2016 to August 2017. They were divided into 4 groups: the low ABI value group, the normal ABI value group, the increased baPWV value group and the normal baPWV group. Clinical data were collected, including medical histories and received physical examinations, blood pressure measurement, biochemical tests and other examinations through the automatic atherosclerosis tester (VP-l00) and echocardiography., Results: Interventricular septal thickness (IVST) of the low ABI value group was significantly larger than that of the normal ABI value group (p<0.05). Compared with those of the normal ABI value group, left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF) and the ratio of peak velocity flow in the E wave to peak velocity flow in the A wave (E/A) of the low ABI value group were significantly decreased (p<0.05). Left atrium diameter (LAD) and IVST of the increased baPWV group were significantly greater than those of the normal baPWV group (p<0.05), and left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF) of the former was smaller than that of the latter (p<0.05). Correlation analyses showed that ABI was negatively correlated with IVST (r=-0.713, p<0.05) but positively correlated with LVEF and E/A (r=0.685 and 0.572, respectively, p<0.05); baPWV was positively related to LAD and LVST (r=0.413 and 0.527, respectively, p<0.05) but negatively related to LVEF (r=-0.546, p<0.05)., Conclusions: ABI and baPWV are significantly associated with changes in cardiac structures and functions in patients with EH, which provide a basis for early intervention in clinical.

Abstract: Microglia mediated neuroinflammation plays a crucial role in intracerebral hemorrhage (ICH). Raf kinase inhibitor protein (RKIP), a member of the phosphatidylethanolamine-binding protein (PEBP) family, is a negative regulator of inflammatory responses. However, the expression and anti-inflammatory effects of RKIP in microglia after ICH have not been reported. Therefore, in the current study, we investigated the effects of RKIP on inflammatory responses in erythrocyte lysate-treated BV2 microglia. Furthermore, we analyzed the detailed molecular mechanisms underlying the anti-inflammatory effects of RKIP in microglia. Our results showed that the expression level of RKIP was significantly decreased by erythrocyte lysate treatment in BV2 microglia. Overexpression of RKIP inhibited the production of pro-inflammatory molecules. In addition, overexpression of RKIP attenuated neuronal cell death induced by activated microglia. Moreover, RKIP suppressed the activation of NF-κB signaling pathway in erythrocyte lysis-treated BV2 cells. In conclusion, these data suggest that overexpression of RKIP attenuated microglia inflammation through inhibiting the NF-κB signaling pathway in erythrocyte lysis-treated BV2 cells. The present study provides evidence that RKIP may be used as an effective molecular target for the treatment of ICH.

Abstract: Background: The activation of renin angiotensin system is involved in multiple pathological processes. The neuroprotective effect of propofol has been reported. We hypothesized that propofol may attenuate Angiotensin II (Ang II)-induced apoptosis in mouse hippocampal HT22 cells and aimed to identify the underlying mechanisms., Methods: Mouse hippocampal HT22 cells were pre-treated with propofol, and stimulated with Ang II. Apoptosis was examined by transferase dUTP nick end labeling (TUNEL) staining and caspase-3 activity assay. The effect of propofol on Ang II-modulated neuronal nitric oxide synthase (nNOS) expression, nitric oxide (NO) production, nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide phosphate (NADPH) oxidase expression and activity, caspase activity and metallothinonein-3 (MT-3) expression were measured., Results: Compared with control, Ang II concentration- and time-dependently induced apoptosis, which was attenuated by propofol in a concentration-dependent manner. Ang II (1 μM, 3 h) induced the expression of nNOS and NADPH oxidase, caused NO and superoxide anion accumulation, thus leading to excessive oxidative stress. Ang II also induced cytochrome C release and the activation of caspase 9 as well as caspase 3. In addition, Ang II reduced the expression of MT-3. Importantly, these effects were alleviated by 50 μM propofol, nNOS inhibitor S-methyl-l-thiocitrulline (SMTC) and angiotensin type 1 receptor (AT1R) blocker losartan, but not AT2R blocker PD123319., Conclusions: Ang II via AT1R induced oxidative stress and apoptosis in hippocampal HT22 cells, and the neuroprotective anti-apoptotic effect of propofol was mediated through inhibiting oxidative stress., (Copyright © 2015 IBRO. Abstract: Hypoxia, frequently found in the center of solid tumors, may lead to enhance the production of key factor in cell survival, invasion, angiogenesis and loss of apoptosis. The low oxygen tension in hypoxic tumors is also known to interfere with the efficacy of chemotherapy, but the underlying mechanisms are not very clear. Paclitaxel (PTX) is an active agent used in breast cancer chemotherapy, which disturbs microtubule dynamics and impairs the transition of cells from metaphase to anaphase in mitosis, leading to cell death by apoptosis. In the present study, we try to determine whether hypoxia can decrease the chemosensitivity of human breast carcinoma cells to PTX and elucidate the underlying mechanism. We found that hypoxia could decrease PTX-induced cell death and G(2)/M arrest. Furthermore, our results showed that hypoxia inhibit PTX-induced soluble tubulin polymerized. In addition, we also found hypoxia could suppress PTX-induced cell cycle protein-cyclin B1 expression in MCF-7 cells. To further investigate whether the inhibitory effect of hypoxia on PTX-induced cell death is mediated by decreasing levels of cyclin B1, cyclin B1-transfected MCF-7 cells were used under hypoxic condition. The data showed that the hypoxia-based decreasing chemosensitivity of breast cancer cells to PTX was reversed by cyclin B1. We also found that overexpression of cyclin B1 could significantly increase the sensitivity of MCF-7 cells to PTX by stimulating soluble polymerized tubulin. Overall, hypoxia decreases cyclin B1, which could in turn reverse hypoxia-induced decreasing chemosensitivity to PTX in breast cancer cell line MCF-7., (© 2011 Elsevier Masson SAS. Abstract: Objectives: Type 1 diabetes mellitus, characterized by loss of pancreatic beta-cells, can be ameliorated by islet transplantation, but this treatment is restricted by the scarcity of islet tissue and by allograft rejection., Materials and Methods: We isolated and characterized skin-derived precursors (SKPs)--an abundant source of autologous cells--and developed an experimental strategy to convert them into insulin-producing cells (IPCs) in vitro within a short period of time, through extracellular factor modification and analyses of IPCs by reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction, immunocytochemistry and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay., Results: SKPs could self-assemble to form three-dimensional islet cell-like clusters (dithizone-positive) and co-express insulin and C-peptide. In addition, they expressed multiple genes related to pancreatic beta-cell development and function (e.g. insulin 1, insulin 2, islet-1, Pdx-1, NeuroD/beta2, glut-2 and Nkx6.1), but not other pancreas-specific hormones and enzymes (e.g. glucagon, somatostatin and amylase). Moreover, when stimulated with glucose, these cells synthesized and secreted insulin in a glucose-regulated manner., Conclusions: The findings of this study indicate that SKPs can differentiate into functional IPCs and can provide an abundant source of autologous cells for transplantation. This study also provides strategies to derive autologous islet-replacement tissues from human skin stem cells.

Abstract: Correlations in the azimuthal angle between the two largest transverse momentum jets have been measured using the D0 detector in p (-)p collisions at a center-of-mass energy sqrt[s]=1.96 TeV. The analysis is based on an inclusive dijet event sample in the central rapidity region corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 150 pb(-1). Azimuthal correlations are stronger at larger transverse momenta. These are well described in perturbative QCD at next-to-leading order in the strong coupling constant, except at large azimuthal differences where contributions with low transverse momentum are significant.

Abstract: Using the exclusive decay B0s-->J/psi(mu+mu-)phi(K+K-), we report the most precise single measurement of the B0s lifetime. The data sample corresponds to an integrated luminosity of approximately 220 pb(-1) collected with the D0 detector at the Fermilab Tevatron Collider in 2002-2004. We reconstruct 337 signal candidates, from which we extract the B0s lifetime, tau(B0s)=1.444(+0.098)(-0.090)(stat)+/-0.020(sys) ps. We also report a measurement for the lifetime of the B0 meson using the exclusive decay B0-->J/psi(mu+mu-)K*0(892)(K+pi-). We reconstruct 1370 signal candidates, obtaining tau(B0)=1.473(+0.052)(-0.050)(stat)+/-0.023(sys) ps, and the ratio of lifetimes, tau(B0s)/tau(B0)=0.980(+0.076)(-0.071)(stat)+/-0.003(sys).

Abstract: We report the results of a search for supersymmetry (SUSY) with gauge-mediated breaking in the missing transverse energy distribution of inclusive diphoton events using 263 pb(-1) of data collected by the D0 experiment at the Fermilab Tevatron Collider in 2002-2004. No excess is observed above the background expected from standard model processes, and lower limits on the masses of the lightest neutralino and chargino of about 108 and 195 GeV, respectively, are set at the 95% confidence level. These are the most stringent limits to date for models with gauge-mediated SUSY breaking with a short-lived neutralino as the next-to-lightest SUSY particle.

Abstract: We report the observation of the X(3872) in the J/psipi(+)pi(-) channel, with J/psi decaying to mu(+)mu(-), in pp collisions at sqrt[s]=1.96 TeV. Using approximately 230 pb(-1) of data collected with the Run II D0 detector, we observe 522+/-100 X(3872) candidates. The mass difference between the X(3872) state and the J/psi is measured to be 774.9+/-3.1(stat)+/-3.0(syst) MeV/c(2). We have investigated the production and decay characteristics of the X(3872) and find them to be similar to those of the psi(2S) state.

Abstract: A search for pair production of doubly charged Higgs bosons in the process pp -->H(++)H(--) -->mu(+)mu(+)mu(-)mu(-) is performed with the D0 run II detector at the Fermilab Tevatron. The analysis is based on a sample of inclusive dimuon data collected at an energy of sqrt[s]=1.96 TeV, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 113 pb(-1). In the absence of a signal, 95% confidence level mass limits of M(H(+/-+/-)(L))>118.4 GeV/c(2) and M(H(+/-+/-)(R))>98.2 GeV/c(2) are set for left-handed and right-handed doubly charged Higgs bosons, respectively, assuming 100% branching into muon pairs.

Abstract: The standard model of particle physics contains parameters--such as particle masses--whose origins are still unknown and which cannot be predicted, but whose values are constrained through their interactions. In particular, the masses of the top quark (M(t)) and W boson (M(W)) constrain the mass of the long-hypothesized, but thus far not observed, Higgs boson. A precise measurement of M(t) can therefore indicate where to look for the Higgs, and indeed whether the hypothesis of a standard model Higgs is consistent with experimental data. As top quarks are produced in pairs and decay in only about 10(-24) s into various final states, reconstructing their masses from their decay products is very challenging. Here we report a technique that extracts more information from each top-quark event and yields a greatly improved precision (of +/- 5.3 GeV/c2) when compared to previous measurements. When our new result is combined with our published measurement in a complementary decay mode and with the only other measurements available, the new world average for M(t) becomes 178.0 +/- 4.3 GeV/c2. As a result, the most likely Higgs mass increases from the experimentally excluded value of 96 to 117 GeV/c2, which is beyond current experimental sensitivity. The upper limit on the Higgs mass at the 95% confidence level is raised from 219 to 251 GeV/c2.

Abstract: A search for narrow resonances that decay into tt pairs has been performed using 130 pb(-1) of data in the lepton + jets channel collected by the Dphi detector in pp collisions at square root of (s)=1.8 TeV. There is no significant deviation observed from the standard-model predictions at a top-quark mass of 175 GeV/c2. We therefore present upper limits at the 95% confidence level on the product of the production cross section and branching fraction to tt for narrow resonances as a function of the resonance mass MX. These limits are used to exclude the existence of a leptophobic top-color particle with mass MX<560 GeV/c2, using a theoretical cross section for a width GammaX=0.012MX.

Abstract: We present a search for large extra dimensions (ED) in pp collisions at a center-of-mass energy of 1.8 TeV using data collected by the DØ detector at the Fermilab Tevatron in 1994-1996. Data corresponding to 78.8+/-3.9 pb(-1) are examined for events with large missing transverse energy, one high-p(T) jet, and no isolated muons. There is no excess observed beyond expectation from the standard model, and we place lower limits on the fundamental Planck scale of 1.0 and 0.6 TeV for 2 and 7 ED, respectively.

Abstract: We report the first search for supersymmetric particles via s-channel production and decay of smuons or muon sneutrinos at hadronic colliders. The data for the two-muon and two-jets final states were collected by the D0 experiment and correspond to an integrated luminosity of 94+/-5 pb(-1). Assuming that R parity is violated via the single coupling lambda'211, the number of candidate events is in agreement with expectation from the standard model. Exclusion contours are given in the (m(0),m(1/2)) and (m(x),m(v)) planes for lambda(')(211)=0.09, 0.08, and 0.07.

Abstract: We present results of a search for R-parity-violating decay of the neutralino chi;01, taken as the lightest supersymmetric particle, to a muon and two jets. The decay proceeds through a lepton-number violating coupling lambda(')(2jk) (j=1,2; k=1,2,3), with R-parity conservation in all other production and decay processes. In the absence of candidate events from 77.5+/-3.9 pb(-1) of data collected by the D0 experiment at the Fermilab Tevatron in pp collisions at sqrt[s]=1.8 TeV, and with an expected background of 0.18+/-0.03+/-0.02 events, we set limits on squark and gluino masses within the framework of the minimal low-energy supergravity-supersymmetry model.

Abstract: We present the results of a search for leptoquark (LQ) pairs in (85.2+/-3.7) pb(-1) of pp* collider data collected by the D0 experiment at the Fermilab Tevatron. We observe no evidence for leptoquark production and set a limit on sigma(pp*-->LQLQ-->nunu+jets) as a function of the mass of the leptoquark (m(LQ)). Assuming the decay LQ-->nuq, we exclude scalar leptoquarks for m(LQ) < 98 GeV/c(2), and vector leptoquarks for m(LQ) < 200 GeV/c(2) and coupling which produces the minimum cross section, at a 95% confidence level.

Abstract: We have performed a search for scalar top quark (stop) pair production in the inclusive electron-muon-missing transverse energy final state, using a sample of pp events corresponding to 108.3 pb(-1) of data collected with the D0 detector at Fermilab. The search is done in the framework of the minimal supersymmetric standard model assuming that the sneutrino is the lightest supersymmetric particle. For the dominant decays of the lightest stop, t-->b chi+1 and t-->blnu, no evidence for signal is found. We derive cross-section limits as a function of stop ( t ), chargino ( chi+1), and sneutrino ( nu) masses.

Abstract: We present a search for charged Higgs bosons in decays of pair-produced top quarks in pp collisions at sqrt[s] = 1.8 TeV recorded by the D0 detector at the Fermilab Tevatron collider. With no evidence for signal, we exclude most regions of the ( M(H+/-),tan(beta)) parameter space where the decay t--> H(+)b has a branching fraction >0.36 and B(H+/--->tau(nu)(tau)) is large.

Abstract: The inclusive cross section for production of isolated photons has been measured in pp macro collisions at square root of s = 630 GeV with the D0 detector at the Fermilab Tevatron Collider. The photons span a transverse energy (E(T)) range from 7-49 GeV and have pseudorapidity absolute value of eta < 2.5. This measurement is combined with the previous D0 result at square root of s = 1800 GeV to form a ratio of the cross sections. Comparison of next-to-leading-order QCD with the measured cross section at 630 GeV and the ratio of cross sections show satisfactory agreement in most of the E(T) range.

Abstract: We describe QUAERO, a method that (i) enables the automatic optimization of searches for physics beyond the standard model, and (ii) provides a mechanism for making high energy collider data generally available. We apply QUAERO to searches for standard model WW, ZZ, and t t macro production, to searches for these objects produced through a new heavy resonance, and to the first direct search for W'-->WZ. Through this interface, we make three data sets collected by the D0 experiment at square root of [s] = 1.8 TeV publicly available.

Abstract: We present results of searches for technirho (rho(T)), techniomega (omega(T)), and Z' particles, using the decay channels rho(T),omega(T),Z'-->e(+)e(-). The search is based on 124.8 pb(-1) of data collected by the D0 detector at the Fermilab Tevatron during 1992-1996. In the absence of a signal, we set 95% C.L. upper limits on the cross sections for the processes pp-->rho(T),omega(T),Z'-->e(+)e(-) as a function of the mass of the decaying particle. For certain model parameters, we exclude the existence of degenerate rho(T) and omega(T) states with masses below about 200 GeV. We exclude a Z' with mass below 670 GeV, assuming that it has the same couplings to fermions as the Z boson.

Abstract: We apply a quasi-model-independent strategy ("Sleuth") to search for new high p(T) physics in approximately 100 pb(-1) of pp collisions at square root of (s) = 1.8 TeV collected by the D0 experiment during 1992-1996 at the Fermilab Tevatron. We systematically analyze many exclusive final states and demonstrate sensitivity to a variety of models predicting new phenomena at the electroweak scale. No evidence of new high p(T) physics is observed.

Abstract: The D0 Collaboration has measured the inclusive jet cross section in barpp collisions at square root of s = 630 GeV. The results for pseudorapidities (eta)<0.5 are combined with our previous results at square root of s = 1800 GeV to form a ratio of cross sections with smaller uncertainties than either individual measurement. Next-to-leading-order QCD predictions show excellent agreement with the measurement at 630 GeV; agreement is also satisfactory for the ratio. Specifically, despite a 10% to 15% difference in the absolute magnitude, the dependence of the ratio on jet transverse momentum is very similar for data and theory.

Abstract: We report on a study of the ratio of inclusive three-jet to inclusive two-jet production cross sections as a function of total transverse energy in p&pmacr; collisions at a center-of-mass energy sqrt[s] = 1.8 TeV, using data collected with the D0 detector during the 1992-1993 run of the Fermilab Tevatron Collider. The measurements are used to deduce preferred renormalization scales in perturbative O(alpha(3)(s)) QCD calculations in modeling soft-jet emission.

Abstract: We report a new measurement of the pseudorapidity (eta) and transverse-energy ( E(T)) dependence of the inclusive jet production cross section in pp(macro) collisions at square root of s = 1.8 TeV using 95 pb(-1) of data collected with the D0 detector at the Fermilab Tevatron. The differential cross section d(2)sigma/(dE(T)d eta) is presented up to eta = 3, significantly extending previous measurements. The results are in good overall agreement with next-to-leading order predictions from QCD and indicate a preference for certain parton distribution functions.

Abstract: We report a search for effects of large extra spatial dimensions in pp collisions at a center-of-mass energy of 1.8 TeV with the D0 detector, using events containing a pair of electrons or photons. The data are in good agreement with the expected background and do not exhibit evidence for large extra dimensions. We set the most restrictive lower limits to date, at the 95% C.L. on the effective Planck scale between 1.0 and 1.4 TeV for several formalisms and numbers of extra dimensions.

Abstract: We have searched for direct pair production of scalar top and scalar bottom quarks in 88 pb-1 of pp collisions at sqrt[s]=1.8 TeV with the CDF detector. We looked for events with a pair of heavy flavor jets and missing energy, consistent with scalar top (bottom) quark decays to a charm (bottom) quark and a neutralino. The numbers of events that pass our selections show no significant deviation from standard model expectations. We compare our results to the next-to-leading order scalar quark production cross sections to exclude regions in scalar quark-neutralino mass parameter space.

Abstract: Inclusive dijet production at large pseudorapidity intervals (Deltaeta) between the two jets has been suggested as a regime for observing Balitsky-Fadin-Kuraev-Lipatov (BFKL) dynamics. We have measured the dijet cross section for large Deltaeta in pp collisions at sqrt[s]=1800 and 630 GeV using the D0 detector. The partonic cross section increases strongly with the size of Deltaeta. The observed growth is even stronger than expected on the basis of BFKL resummation in the leading logarithmic approximation. The growth of the partonic cross section can be accommodated with an effective BFKL intercept of alphaBFKL(20 GeV)=1.65+/-0.07.
