High time resolution and accuracy are of critical importance in the studies of timing analysis and time delay localization of gamma-ray bursts (GRBs), soft gamma-ray repeaters (SGRs) and pulsars. The Gravitational wave high-energy Electromagnetic Counterpart All-sky Monitor (GECAM) consisting of two micro-satellites, GECAM-A and GECAM-B, launched on 2020 December 10, is aimed at monitoring and locating X-ray and GRBs all over the sky. To achieve its scientific goals, GECAM is designed to have the highest time resolution (0.1 $\mu {\rm s}$) among all GRB detectors ever flown. Here, we make a comprehensive time calibration campaign including both on-ground and on-orbit tests to derive not only the relative time accuracy of GECAM satellites and detectors, but also the absolute time accuracy of GECAM-B. Using the on-ground calibration with a $\rm ^{22}Na$ radioactive source, we find that the relative time accuracy between GECAM-A and GECAM-B is about 0.15 $\mu {\rm s}$ (1σ). To measure the relative time accuracy between all detectors of a single GECAM satellite, cosmic-ray events detected on orbit are utilized since they could produce many secondary particles simultaneously record by multiple detectors. We find that the relative time accuracy among all detectors onboard GECAM-B is about 0.12 $\mu {\rm s}$ (1σ). Finally, we use the novel Li-CCF method to perform the absolute time calibration with Crab pulsar and SGR J1935+2154, both of which were jointly observed by GECAM-B and Fermi/GBM, and obtain that the time difference between GECAM-B and Fermi/GBM is 3.06 ± 6.04 $\mu {\rm s}$ (1σ).

We present a pluggable radiation-tolerant 4-level Pulse-Amplitude-Modulation (PAM4) optical transmitter module called GBT20 (Giga-Bit Transmitter at 20 Gbps) for particle-physics experiments. GBT20 has an OSFP or firefly connector to input 16-bit data each at 1.28 Gbps. The GBT20 drives a VCSEL die with an LC lens or a VCSEL TOSA and interfaces an optical fiber with a standard LC connector. The minimum module, including the host connector, occupies 41 mm x 13 mm x 6 mm. At 20.48 Gbps, the minimum Transmitter Dispersion Eye Closure Quaternary (TDECQ) is around 0.7 dB. The power consumption is around 164 mW in the low-power mode. The SEE cross-section is below 7.5x10^(-14) cm^2. Varicocele is a common condition in adolescence and the most common correctable cause of infertility. This study aimed to analyze and compare the outcomes of scrotal antegrade sclerotherapy (SAS) and laparoscopic Palomo surgery (LPS) in a tertiary referral centre.Patients with left grade 3 varicocele indicated for surgery were prospectively enrolled and randomly allocated to the SAS and LPS groups, with their respective contralateral normal testes taken as controls. The primary outcome measures were clinical varicocele recurrence, testicular catch-up growth, and post-operative hydrocele. All patients were evaluated clinically and using Doppler ultrasound by radiologists.From 2015 to 2020, 113 patients completed the study and were statistically analyzed (SAS, n = 57; LPS, n = 56). All patients had significantly smaller testes pre-operatively that the testicular volume differences with control testes were -23% in SAS and -19% in LPS. At 12-month follow-up, there were no statistical significant difference in clinical recurrences between the 2 groups (SAS = 5.3% vs LPS = 5.4%,Both SAS and LPS are safe and effective procedures for treatment of adolescent varicocele with significant positive effect on testicular catch-up growth. SAS is not inferior to LPS in terms of clinical recurrence rate and with significantly less post-operative hydrocele.

Background To compare the risks of major osteoporotic, vertebral, and non-vertebral fractures between patients who discontinued anti-osteoporosis medications. Methods We conducted a comparative effectiveness study with a nationwide population-based cohort study design. Patients aged ≥50 years admitted between 2012 and 2015 for incident hip fractures and receiving denosumab or bisphosphonates with sufficient compliance for at least one year were included. Patients were categorized into persistent or non-persistent denosumab or bisphosphonates users based on their subsequent use pattern. The main outcomes were subsequent hospitalizations for a major osteoporotic, vertebral or non-vertebral fracture. Multivariate, time-varying Cox proportional hazards model was used to evaluate the risk of major outcomes. Results Compared with persistent denosumab users, non-persistent denosumab users had a significantly higher risk of major osteoporotic fractures (Hazard ratio (HR) = 1.60; 95% confidence interval (CI), 1.20 to 2.14),vertebral fractures (HR = 2.18; 95% CI, 1.46 to 3.24) and death (HR = 3.57; 95%CI, 2.63-4.84). However, the increased risk of fracture was not found in both persistent and non-persistent bisphosphonates users. Noteworthy, the increased risk of vertebral fractures in non-persistent denosumab users was more pronounced within one-year post discontinuation (HR = 2.90, 95% CI, 1.77 to 4.74) and among patients who discontinued from 2-year denosumab therapy (HR = 3.58; 95% CI, 1.74 to7.40). Discussion Discontinuation of denosumab resulted in an increased risk of major osteoporotic fractures, especially vertebral fractures. The increased risk tends to reveal within one-year post discontinuation and be greater after a longer treatment duration. Notably, only fracture with hospitalization was identified as our research outcome, the real risk of osteoporotic fracture post discontinuation is believed to be higher, especially for vertebral fracture. Purpose This papers aims to provide a fixed cutter axis control (F-CAC) industrial robot (IR) milling for NURBS surfaces with large fluctuation, which can avoid over-cut and interference during IR milling in contrast to variable cutter axis control (V-CAC) IR milling. Design/methodology/approach After the design of a target surface, the IR reciprocating milling trajectory can be obtained using NURBS mapping projection method. A set of interpolation points of the reciprocating trajectory can be calculated using the equi-chord interpolation method. Combining with F-CAC method and curvature estimation, the IR reciprocating trajectory of the tool center point (TCP) without over-cut can be obtained. The programs corresponding to posture control using F-CAC can be generated by IR kinematics. Findings In contrast to the V-CAC milling method, the F-CAC method can machine successfully the NURBS surfaces with large fluctuation. The simulation and machining proves that F-CAC is feasible and effective to machine NURBS surface with large fluctuation without over-cut phenomenon. The F-CAC has wide application in carving and woodworking industry at present. Originality/value The F-CAC method is very practical and effective for IR milling of complex NURBS surfaces with large fluctuation without over-cut and interference phenomenon.

The walnut shell biochar was prepared at high temperature in this experiment. The effect of different biochar on the growth of Bacillus thuringiensis (Bt) were investigated, and biochar with good biocompatibility to Bt was selected and used as an adsorbent to prepare Bt/ sodium alginate/ biochar composite microspheres. The effects of sodium alginate, calcium chloride mass fraction, and biochar addition on the encapsulation rate and the spheroidization rate of microspheres were investigated. The results showed that the optimum preparation conditions were as follows: the mass fractions (w/v) of sodium alginate, biochar, and calcium chloride were 3%, 0.4%, and 2%, respectively. The encapsulation rate and sphericity rate of prepared composite microspheres were 93.50% and 90%, and the diameter was about 1200 μm after drying. Release behavior in water showed that Bt-sodium alginate-biochar microspheres had better sustained release performance than those without biochar.

In recent years, the morbidity of pollinosis has been increasing year by year. Anemophilous flower pollen is the most important allergen causing pollinosis, among which artemisia pollen is one of the most common airborne allergens. Subtropically grown bananas have different interactions with Fusarium oxysporum f. sp. cubense (Foc), causal agent of Fusarium wilt of banana (FWB), when compared with those grown in the tropics. The designation ‘subtropical’ race 4 (SR4) was assigned to Foc strains able to infect Cavendish (AAA) cultivars in the subtropics, but not in the tropics. ‘Tropical’ race 4 (TR4) gained prominence with the appearance and spread of a Foc strain that severely affects Cavendish bananas in both the tropics and subtropics. Recent surveys in Asia revealed TR4 as the predominant strain both in the tropics and subtropics, affecting not only Cavendish, but also many other cultivars. In many subtropical banana zones, Foc races 1 and 2, which complete the racial structure of Foc, are also found and cause severe losses in certain market-preferred dessert bananas. Environmental constraints increase the susceptibility of Cavendish bananas to SR4. However, the role of abiotic stresses in cultivar susceptibility to Foc needs to be better understood. It is not clear why some Foc strains only affect Cavendish in the subtropics, and what other factors, including pathogen virulence and microbial functional diversity, might be driving disease epidemics. Field experience suggests that optimum soil and water management strategies can reduce disease intensity, but targeted studies are needed to understand the virulence of different strains, the impact of fluctuating temperatures, soil pH, organic matter breakdown and soil microbial dynamics. Research findings on the epidemiology and management of FWB in Australia, Brazil, China, India and South Africa are discussed to propose priority areas for the development of improved disease management practices. © 2020 International Society for Horticultural Science. Fusarium wilt, caused by Fusarium oxysporum f. sp. cubense (Foc), has been considered as the most devastating disease affecting bananas (Musa spp.) worldwide. A highly virulent strain of Foc, known as tropical race 4 (TR4), has been detected in the southeast Asia in the 1990s, and has since spread to western Asia, Australia, the Middle East, southern Africa, and South America (Viljoen et al. 2020). Foc TR4 can cause severe yield losses in Cavendish (AAA), Gros Michel (AAA), Silk (AAB), Pisang Awak (ABB) and Bluggoe (ABB) bananas (Ploetz et al. 2006). However, cooking bananas such as plantain (AAB) and Matooke (AAA) bananas, appear to be resistant (Zuo et al. 2017). Iholena bananas (AAB), a subgroup of varieties related to plantains (also known as Pacific plantains), is an important staple food in the Pacific Islands where it was domesticated. It is also popular in Peru, probably due to its nutritional value (Kepler et al. 2011) and is wildly cultivated in other South American countries (Dita et al. 2013). In December 2019, typical symptoms of banana Fusarium wilt were observed on Iholena accession 'Pacific Plantain' (ITC0210) in experimental fields located in Dongguan, Guangdong Province of China. The symptoms included leaf yellowing and pseudostem splitting. The vascular tissue inside the pseudostems was dark red to brown, and the inner rhizomes yellowish-brown. Vascular tissues from three diseased plants were sampled aseptically and placed on potato dextrose agar (PDA) containing 0.05 g/liter kanamycin. Fungal colonies typical of F. oxysporum developed rapidly, with purple-tinged white aerial mycelia and an abundance of microconidia borne in false heads on short microconidia (Nelson et al. 1983). Chlamydospores were produced singly or in pairs in hyphae and macroconidia. Molecular identification was performed using Foc race 4-specific primers (Lin et al. 2009), Foc TR4-specific primers (Dita et al. 2010), Foc race 1 and Foc STR4-specific primers (Ndayihanzamaso et al. 2020). Amplicons of expected sizes were obtained for Foc TR4 and race 4, but not for Foc race 1 and STR4. Sequencing of the ITS and 18S rDNA from the three Iholena isolates and BLAST result showed a 100% similarity to the Foc TR4 reference sequences in GenBank (Foc II5, PRJNA73539 and PRJNA56513) to prove that the isolates were Foc TR4. Pathogenicity of the three isolates from Iholena bananas was determined by infecting 4-month-old Cavendish cv. 'Grand Nain' bananas and three Iholena accessions, 'Pacific Plantain' 'Tigua' and 'Uzakan', under greenhouse conditions by root immersion in a Foc conidial suspension and soil drenching at 106 conidia/ml (Dita, 2010). Control plants were treated with sterile distilled water. Three replications of five plantlets were used for each accession. After 35 days, the inoculated plantlets developed typical Fusarium wilt symptoms such as yellowing of the older leaves and discoloration of the inner rhizome. The control plants did not develop symptoms. To complete Koch's postulates, the fungus was re-isolated from inoculated plants and identified as Foc TR4 by PCR (Dita et al, 2010). The susceptibility of 'Tigua' and 'Uzakan' was also confirmed in Foc TR4-infested field trials, with both accessions developing severe Fusarium wilt symptoms. The susceptibility of Iholena bananas to Foc TR4 is of significant concern to all countries where this subgroup is cultivated for major food source, including Peru and other South American countries.

The aim of this study is to systematically evaluate the effect of air pollutant exposure on lung function in exercisers.Computer search Web of Science, PubMed, EBSCO and Cochrane Library, MINORS scale for literature quality evaluation, and Stata 12.0 software for statistical analysis.According to the literature inclusion and exclusion criteria, a total of 14 pieces of literature were screened and included in the Meta-analysis, and the literature quality was relatively high. Meta-analysis shows that air pollutant exposure has no significant effect on FVC, FEV1 and PEF of exercisers (p0.05); but it can significantly increase the FeNO level of exercisers [Z=2.26, p = 0.024, SMD=-0.228, 95% CI= (-0.426, -0.031)]. Egger linear regression analysis shows that FVC [β=-4.64, p = 0.004, 95% CI= (-7.32,-1.95)] has the possibility of publication bias; FEV1, PEF and FeNO p0.05 and 95% CI contains 0, there is no publication bias in the included literature. There is no sensitivity problem in the included literature, and the combined result is robust and reliable.Exposure to air pollutants may cause allergic airway inflammation by increasing FeNO levels in exercised populations, and adversely affecting human health.

The calculation of dynamic response functions is expected to be an early application benefiting from rapidly developing quantum hardware resources. The ability to calculate real-time quantities of strongly-correlated quantum systems is one of the most exciting applications that can easily reach beyond the capabilities of traditional classical hardware. Response functions of fermionic systems at moderate momenta and energies corresponding roughly to the Fermi energy of the system are a potential early application because the relevant operators are nearly local and the energies can be resolved in moderately short real time, reducing the spatial resolution and gate depth required. This is particularly the case in quasielastic electron and neutrino scattering from nuclei, a topic of great interest in the nuclear and particle physics communities and directly related to experiments designed to probe neutrino properties. We use the variational quantum eigensolver (VQE) to simulate Kitaev spin models with and without integrability breaking perturbations, focusing in particular on the honeycomb and square-octagon lattices. These models are well known for being exactly solvable in a certain parameter regime via a mapping to free fermions. We use classical simulations to explore a novel variational ansatz that takes advantage of this fermionic representation and is capable of expressing the exact ground state in the solvable limit. We also demonstrate that this ansatz can be extended beyond this limit to provide excellent accuracy when compared to other VQE approaches. In certain cases, this fermionic representation is advantageous because it reduces by a factor of two the number of qubits required to perform the simulation. We also comment on the implications of our results for simulating non-Abelian anyons on quantum computers.

The early identification and prediction of hand-foot-and-mouth disease (HFMD) play an important role in the disease prevention and control. However, suitable models are different in regions due to the differences in geography, social economy factors. We collected data associated with daily reported HFMD cases and weather factors of Zibo city in 2010~2019 and used the generalised additive model (GAM) to evaluate the effects of weather factors on HFMD cases. Then, GAM, support vectors regression (SVR) and random forest regression (RFR) models are used to compare predictive results. The annual average incidence was 129.72/100 000 from 2010 to 2019. Its distribution showed a unimodal trend, with incidence increasing from March, peaking from May to September. Our study revealed the nonlinear relationship between temperature, rainfall and relative humidity and HFMD cases and based on the predictive result, the performances of three models constructed ranked in descending order are: SVR > GAM> RFR, and SVR has the smallest prediction errors. These findings provide quantitative evidence for the prediction of HFMD for special high-risk regions and can help public health agencies implement prevention and control measures in advance.
