Using synthetic Lyman-$\alpha$ forests from the Dark Energy Spectroscopic Instrument (DESI) survey, we present a study of the impact of errors in the estimation of quasar redshift on the Lyman-$\alpha$ correlation functions. Estimates of quasar redshift have large uncertainties of a few hundred $\text{km s}^{-1}\,$ due to the broadness of the emission lines and the intrinsic shifts from other emission lines. We inject Gaussian random redshift errors into the mock quasar catalogues, and measure the auto-correlation and the Lyman-$\alpha$-quasar cross-correlation functions. We find a smearing of the BAO feature in the radial direction, but changes in the peak position are negligible. However, we see a significant unphysical correlation for small separations transverse to the line of sight which increases with the amplitude of the redshift errors. We interpret this contamination as a result of the broadening of emission lines in the measured mean continuum, caused by quasar redshift errors, combined with the unrealistically strong clustering of the simulated quasars on small scales., Comment: 13 pages, 8 figures, submitted to MNRAS

RESUMEN Introducción: las infecciones intrahospitalarias incrementan la mortalidad y la morbilidad infantil. Objetivo: determinar los factores influyentes en el desarrollo de infecciones asociadas a cuidados sanitarios en el Servicio de Gastroenterología del Hospital Infantil Luis A. Milanés de Bayamo. Métodos: se realizó un estudio epidemiológico hospitalario, descriptivo, retrospectivo, de corte transversal, durante el periodo enero-agosto 2017. El universo lo constituyeron los 1025 niños que ingresaron en el servicio en el tiempo señalado y la muestra quedó conformada por los 18 que desarrollaron la infección. Se estudiaron variables: dependiente (infección asociada a cuidados sanitarios) e independientes (factores influyentes en el desarrollo de la enfermedad). Se emplearon métodos teóricos, empíricos y estadísticos. El análisis de la información se realizó con auxilio del Programa SPSS versión 22.0 para Windows (Estadísticos descriptivos), las medidas de resumen utilizadas fueron las frecuencias absolutas y relativas. Resultados: los factores predominantes fueron la edad menor de un año (72,2 %) y el uso previo de antibióticos (66,7 %), seguidos por la alimentación inadecuada con lactancia materna exclusiva (61,1 %), el género masculino (61,1 %), y la estadia hospitalaria mayor de 7 días (55,6 %); los tipos de infecciones más frecuentes fueron las bacteriemias y las gastroenteritis (27,8 % cada una), y los microorganismos mayormente aislados resultaron el estafilococo coagulasa negativo y la Escherichia coli (ambos 25 %). Conclusión: los principales factores de riesgo fueron la edad menor de un año y el uso previo de antibióticos. ABSTRACT Introduction: intrahospital infections increase infant mortality and morbidity. Objective: to determine the influential factors in the development of infections associated with health care in the Gastroenterology Service of the Luis A. Milanes Children's Hospital of Bayamo. Methods: a descriptive, retrospective, cross-sectional epidemiological hospital study was conducted during the period January-August 2017. The universe was constituted by the 1025 children who entered the service at the time indicated and the sample was made up of the 18 they developed the infection. Variables were studied: dependent (infection associated with health care) and independent (influential factors in the development of the disease). Theoretical, empirical and statistical methods were used. The analysis of the information was made with the help of the SPSS Program version 22.0 for Windows (Descriptive statistics), the summary measures used were the absolute and relative frequencies. Results: the predominant factors were age less than one year (72.2 %) and previous use of antibiotics (66.7 %), followed by inadequate diet with exclusive breastfeeding (61.1 %), the male gender (61.1 %), and the hospital stay greater than 7 days (55.6 %); the most frequent types of infections were bacteremia and gastroenteritis (27.8 % each), and the most isolated microorganisms were negative coagulase staphylococci and Escherichia coli (both 25 %). Conclusion: the main risk factors were the age under one year and the previous use of antibiotics.
