Abstract

Virial black hole mass ($M_{BH}$) determination directly involves knowing the broad line region (BLR) clouds velocity distribution, their distance from the central supermassive black hole ($R_{BLR}$) and the virial factor ($f$). Understanding whether biases arise in $M_{BH}$ estimation with increasing obscuration is possible only by studying a large (N$>$100) statistical sample of obscuration unbiased (hard) X-ray selected active galactic nuclei (AGN) in the rest-frame near-infrared (0.8-2.5$\mu$m) since it penetrates deeper into the BLR than the optical. We present a detailed analysis of 65 local BAT-selected Seyfert galaxies observed with Magellan/FIRE. Adding these to the near-infrared BAT AGN spectroscopic survey (BASS) database, we study a total of 314 unique near-infrared spectra. While the FWHMs of H$\alpha$ and near-infrared broad lines (He\textsc{i}, Pa$\beta$, Pa$\alpha$) remain unbiased to either BLR extinction or X-ray obscuration, the H$\alpha$ broad line luminosity is suppressed when $N_H\gtrsim10^{21}$ cm$^{-2}$, systematically underestimating $M_{BH}$ by $0.23-0.46$ dex. Near-infrared line luminosities should be preferred to H$\alpha$ until $N_H<10^{22}$ cm$^{-2}$, while at higher obscuration a less biased $R_{BLR}$ proxy should be adopted. We estimate $f$ for Seyfert 1 and 2 using two obscuration-unbiased $M_{BH}$ measurements, i.e. the stellar velocity dispersion and a BH mass prescription based on near-infrared and X-ray, and find that the virial factors do not depend on redshift or obscuration, but for some broad lines show a mild anti-correlation with $M_{BH}$. Impacto de la gestión del hábitat de especies de caza menor en las comunidades de aves de los matorrales mediterráneos franceses En la región del Mediterráneo francés, la progresiva disminución de las actividades tradicionales ha dado lugar a la expansión de los matorrales, que han invadido el territorio, lo que induce cierta pérdida de biodiversidad. Los cazadores participan en la gestión del hábitat principalmente mediante la apertura de los matorrales para ampliar el hábitat de las especies de caza menor. El objetivo de nuestro estudio fue evaluar la contribución de dicha gestión a la conservación de especies de aves no objetivo. En tres áreas gestionadas (MA) y no gestionadas (UMA) de 30 hectáreas, las aves fueron monitoreadas en primavera mediante el método de muestreo de frecuencia progresiva (EFP). Se estimaron los índices de riqueza de especies (un indicador de la diversidad alfa) y de diversidad beta para comparar las comunidades de aves entre áreas gestionadas y no gestionadas vecinas. También se estudiaron la presencia de especies prioritarias para la conservación y la respuesta de las especies de aves a lo largo de un gradiente de gestión. Nuestros resultados mostraron que la gestión del hábitat de especies de caza menor se asoció con el aumento de la riqueza de especies de aves, en especial las especialistas en hábitats abiertos. La mayoría de las especies de aves mediterráneas detectadas estaba presente en zonas gestionadas, donde convivían especies de aves de ambientes abiertos y cerrados. La gestión de los ambientes de matorrales por parte de los cazadores puede dar lugar a áreas de alto valor de conservación para especies de aves no objetivo. Este estudio podría respaldar las pautas para la apertura de matorrales con el fin de conservar la diversidad de aves.

Abstract

Ever since the discovery of the first active galactic nuclei (AGN), substantial observational and theoretical effort has been invested into understanding how massive black holes have evolved across cosmic time. Circum-nuclear obscuration is now established as a crucial component, with almost every AGN observed known to display signatures of some level of obscuration in their X-ray spectra. However, despite more than six decades of effort, substantial open questions remain: how does the accretion power impact the structure of the circum-nuclear obscurer? What are the dynamical properties of the obscurer? Can dense circum-nuclear obscuration exist around intrinsically weak AGN? How many intermediate mass black holes occupy the centers of dwarf galaxies? In this paper, we showcase a number of next-generation prospects attainable with the High-Energy X-ray Probe (HEX-P1) to contribute toward solving these questions in the 2030s. The uniquely broad (0.2–80 keV) and strictly simultaneous X-ray passband of HEX-P makes it ideally suited for studying the temporal co-evolution between the central engine and circum-nuclear obscurer. Improved sensitivities and reduced background will enable the development of spectroscopic models complemented by current and future multi-wavelength observations. We show that the angular resolution of HEX-P both below and above 10 keV will enable the discovery and confirmation of accreting massive black holes at both low accretion power and low black hole masses even when concealed by thick obscuration. In combination with other next-generation observations of the dusty hearts of nearby galaxies, HEX-P will be pivotal in paving the way toward a complete picture of black hole growth and galaxy co-evolution.

4. Baseline antipsychotic prescription and short-term outcome indicators in individuals at clinical high-risk for psychosis: Findings from an Italian longitudinal study

Abstract

Introduction The prognostic prediction of outcomes in individuals at clinical high-risk for psychosis (CHR-P) is still a significant clinical challenge. Among multiple baseline variables of risk calculator models, the role of ongoing pharmacological medications has been partially neglected, despite meta-analytical evidence of higher risk of psychosis transition associated with baseline prescription exposure to antipsychotics (AP) in CHR-P individuals. In particular, baseline AP exposure in CHR-P individuals may be considered as a functional equivalent of the psychometric transition to psychosis, as already postulated in the original ‘Ultra High-Risk’ model. Objectives The main aim of the current study was to test the hypothesis that ongoing AP need at baseline indexes a subgroup of CHR-P individuals with more severe psychopathology and worse prognostic trajectories along a 1-year follow-up period. Methods This research was settled within the ‘Parma At-Risk Mental States’ program. Baseline and 1-year follow-up assessment included the Positive And Negative Syndrome Scale (PANSS) and the Global Assessment of Functioning (GAF). CHR-P individuals who were taking AP medications at entry were included in the CHR-P-AP+ subgroup. The remaining participants were grouped as CHR-P-AP-. The acquisition of drug and outcome information was collected both at baseline and across the follow-up period. Finally, logistic regression analyses with dichotomized 1-year outcome parameters (previously showing statistically significant differences in inter-group comparisons) as dependent measures and sociodemographic and clinical characteristics as independent variables were also performed. Results Hundred and seventy-eight CHR-P individuals (aged 12–25 years) were enrolled (91 CHR-P-AP+, 87 CHR-P-AP-). Compared to CHR-P AP-, CHR-P AP+ individuals had older age, greater baseline PANSS ‘Positive Symptoms’ and ‘Negative Symptoms’ factor subscores and a lower GAF score. At the end of our follow-up, CHR-P-AP+ subjects showed higher rates of psychosis transition, new hospitalizations and urgent/non-planned visits compared to CHRP- AP- individuals. Conclusions The current study suggests that AP need is a significant prognostic variable in cohorts of CHR-P individuals and should be included in the current risk calculators. In particular, the results of this study conducted in a realworld clinical setting indicate that the rate of CHR-P individuals who were already exposed to AP at the time of CHR-P status ascription was higher than those reported in recent meta-analyses on this topic. Abstract

Introduction The aim of this project is to study to which extent salience alterations influence the severity of psychotic symptoms. However, rather than studying them individually, we decided to focus on their interplay with two additional variables, that is: observing their effect in a vulnerability phase (adolescence) and with another added, well-recognized risk factor (cannabis use). The reason for this study design lies in the fact that, in our opinion, it is fundamental to observe the trajectory of psychotic symptoms over a continuum; however, rather than adopting a longitudinal approach, we decided to structure it as a cross-sectional study confronting patients from two age brackets - adolescence and adulthood. Objectives The primary purpose of this study was to assess a difference between THC-abusing and non-abusing patients in adolescent and adult cohorts, using the Italian version of the psychometric scale “Aberrant Salience Inventory” (ASI), and the possible correlation with more severe psychotic symptoms. The employment of several different psychometric scales and the inclusion of a variegated cohort allowed to pursue multiple secondary objectives. Methods We recruited 192 patients, subsequently divided into six subgroups based on age and department of recruitment (whether adolescent or adult psychiatric or neurologic units - the latter serving as controls). Abstract

Constraining the primary growth channel of supermassive black holes (SMBHs) remains one the most actively debated questions in the context of cosmological structure formation. Owing to the expected connection between SMBH spin parameter evolution and the accretion and merger history of individual black holes, population spin measurements offer a rare observational window into the cosmic growth of SMBHs. As of today, the most common method for estimating SMBH spin relies on modeling the relativistically broaden atomic profiles in the reflection spectrum observed in X-rays. In this paper, we study the observational requirements needed to confidently distinguish between the primary SMBH growth channels based on their distinct spin-mass distributions predicted by the Horizon-AGN cosmological simulation. Indoing so, we characterize outstanding limitations associated with the existing measurements and discuss the landscape of future observational campaigns which could be planned and executed with future X-ray observatories. We focus our attention on the High-Energy X-ray Probe (HEX-P), a proposed probe-class mission designed to serve the high-energy community in the 2030s.

Abstract

Since the discovery of the cosmic X-ray background (CXB), astronomers have strived to understand the accreting supermassive black holes (SMBHs) contributing to its peak in the 10–40 keV band. Existing soft X-ray telescopes could study this population up to only 10 keV, and, while NuSTAR (focusing on 3–24 keV) made great progress, it also left significant uncertainties in characterizing the hard X-ray population, crucial for calibrating current population synthesis models. This paper presents an in-depth analysis of simulations of two extragalactic surveys (deep and wide) with the High-Energy X-ray Probe (HEX-P), each observed for 2 Ms. Applying established source detection techniques, we show that HEX-P surveys will reach a flux of ∼10−15 erg s−1 cm−2 in the 10–40 keV band, an order of magnitude fainter than current NuSTAR surveys. With the large sample of new hard X-ray detected sources (∼2000), we showcase HEX-P’s ability to resolve more than 80% of the CXB up to 40 keV into individual sources. The expected precision of HEX-P’s resolved background measurement will allow us to distinguish between population synthesis models of SMBH growth. HEX-P will leverage accurate broadband (0.5–40 keV) spectral analysis and the combination of soft and hard X-ray colors to provide obscuration constraints even for the fainter sources, with the overall objective of measuring the Compton-thick fraction. With unprecedented sensitivity in the 10–40 keV band, HEX-P will explore the hard X-ray emission from AGN to flux limits never reached before, thus expanding the parameter space for serendipitous discoveries. Consequently, it is plausible that new models will be needed to capture the population HEX-P will unveil.

Abstract

The present review aimed to establish an understanding of the pathophysiology of leptomeningeal disease as it relates to late-stage development among different cancer types. For our purposes, the focused metastatic malignancies include breast cancer, lung cancer, melanoma, primary central nervous system tumors, and hematologic cancers (lymphoma, leukemia, and multiple myeloma). Of note, our discussion was limited to cancer-specific leptomeningeal metastases secondary to the aforementioned primary cancers. LMD mechanisms secondary to non-cancerous pathologies, such as infection or inflammation of the leptomeningeal layer, were excluded from our scope of review. Furthermore, we intended to characterize general leptomeningeal disease, including the specific anatomical infiltration process/area, CSF dissemination, manifesting clinical symptoms in patients afflicted with the disease, detection mechanisms, imaging modalities, and treatment therapies (both preclinical and clinical). Of these parameters, leptomeningeal disease across different primary cancers shares several features. Pathophysiology regarding the development of CNS involvement within the mentioned cancer subtypes is similar in nature and progression of disease. Consequently, detection of leptomeningeal disease, regardless of cancer type, employs several of the same techniques. Cerebrospinal fluid analysis in combination with varied imaging (CT, MRI, and PET-CT) has been noted in the current literature as the gold standard in the diagnosis of leptomeningeal metastasis. Treatment options for the disease are both varied and currently in development, given the rarity of these cases. Our review details the differences in leptomeningeal disease as they pertain through the lens of several different cancer subtypes in an effort to highlight the current state of targeted therapy, the potential shortcomings in treatment, and the direction of preclinical and clinical treatments in the future. As there is a lack of comprehensive reviews that seek to characterize leptomeningeal metastasis from various solid and hematologic cancers altogether, the authors intended to highlight not only the overlapping mechanisms but also the distinct patterning of disease detection and progression as a means to uniquely treat each metastasis type. The scarcity of LMD cases poses a barrier to more robust evaluations of this pathology. However, as treatments for primary cancers have improved over time, so has the incidence of LMD. The increase in diagnosed cases only represents a small fraction of LMD-afflicted patients. More often than not, LMD is determined upon autopsy. The motivation behind this review stems from the increased capacity to study LMD in spite of scarcity or poor patient prognosis. In vitro analysis of leptomeningeal cancer cells has allowed researchers to approach this disease at the level of cancer subtypes and markers. We ultimately hope to facilitate the clinical translation of LMD research through our discourse.

Abstract

We analyze Spitzer spectra of 140 active galactic nuclei (AGN) detected in the hard X-rays (14–195 keV) by the Burst Alert Telescope on board Swift. This sample allows us to probe several orders of magnitude in black hole masses (10 ^6 –10 ^9 M _⊙ ), Eddington ratios (10 ^−3 –1), X-ray luminosities (10 ^42 –10 ^45 erg s ^−1 ), and X-ray column densities (10 ^20 –10 ^24 cm ^−2 ). The AGN emission is expected to be the dominant source of ionizing photons with energies ≳50 eV, and therefore, high-ionization mid-infrared (MIR) emission lines such as [Ne v ] 14.32, 24.32 μ m and [O iv ] 25.89 μ m are predicted to be good proxies of AGN activity, and robust against obscuration effects. We find high detection rates (≳85%–90%) for the MIR coronal emission lines in our AGN sample. The luminosities of these lines are correlated with the 14–150 keV luminosity (with a typical scatter of σ ∼0.4–0.5 dex), strongly indicating that the MIR coronal line (CL) emission is driven by AGN activity. CLs are also tightly correlated to the bolometric luminosity ( σ ∼0.2–0.3 dex), calculated from careful analysis of the spectral energy distribution. We find that the relationship between the CL strengths and L _14–150 keV is independent of black hole mass, AGN luminosity, and Eddington ratio, and mostly not affected by high X-ray column densities. This confirms that the MIR CLs can be used as unbiased tracers of the AGN power for X-ray luminosities in the 10 ^42 –10 ^45 erg s ^−1 range.

Abstract

The superb image quality, stability, and sensitivity of JWST permit deconvolution techniques to be pursued with a fidelity unavailable to ground-based observations. We present an assessment of several deconvolution approaches to improve image quality and mitigate the effects of the complex JWST point-spread function (PSF). The optimal deconvolution method is determined by using WebbPSF to simulate JWST’s complex PSF and MIRISim to simulate multiband JWST/Mid-Infrared Imager Module (MIRIM) observations of a toy model of an active galactic nucleus (AGN). Five different deconvolution algorithms are tested: (1) Kraken deconvolution, (2) Richardson–Lucy, (3) the adaptive imaging deconvolution algorithm, (4) sparse regularization with the Condat–Vũ algorithm, and (5) iterative Wiener filtering and thresholding. We find that Kraken affords the greatest FWHM reduction of the nuclear source of our MIRISim observations for the toy AGN model while retaining good photometric integrity across all simulated wave bands. Applying Kraken to Galactic Activity, Torus, and Outflow Survey (GATOS) multiband JWST/MIRIM observations of the Seyfert 2 galaxy NGC 5728, we find that the algorithm reduces the FWHM of the nuclear source by a factor of 1.6–2.2 across all five filters. Kraken images facilitate detection of extended nuclear emission ∼2.″5 (∼470 pc, position angle ≃ 115°) in the SE–NW direction, especially at the longest wavelengths. We demonstrate that Kraken is a powerful tool to enhance faint features otherwise hidden in the complex JWST PSF.

Abstract

This work studies the relationship between accretion-disk size and quasar properties, using a sample of 95 quasars from the Sloan Digital Sky Survey Reverberation Mapping Project with measured lags between the g and i photometric bands. Our sample includes disk lags that are both longer and shorter than predicted by the Shakura and Sunyaev model, requiring explanations that satisfy both cases. Although our quasars each have one lag measurement, we explore the wavelength-dependent effects of diffuse broad-line region (BLR) contamination through our sample’s broad redshift range, 0.1 < z < 1.2. We do not find significant evidence of variable diffuse Fe ii and Balmer nebular emission in the rms spectra, nor from Anderson–Darling tests of quasars in redshift ranges with and without diffuse nebular emission falling in the observed-frame filters. Contrary to previous work, we do not detect a significant correlation between the measured continuum and BLR lags in our luminous quasar sample, similarly suggesting that our continuum lags are not dominated by diffuse nebular emission. Similar to other studies, we find that quasars with larger-than-expected continuum lags have lower 3000 Å luminosities, and we additionally find longer continuum lags with lower X-ray luminosities and black hole masses. Our lack of evidence for diffuse BLR contribution to the lags indicates that the anticorrelation between continuum lag and luminosity is not likely to be due to the Baldwin effect. Instead, these anticorrelations favor models in which the continuum lag increases in lower-luminosity active galactic nuclei, including scenarios featuring magnetic coupling between the accretion disk and X-ray corona, and/or ripples or rims in the disk.

Abstract

Introduction NES is characterized by daytime anorexia, sleep difficulties with nocturnal food intake, resulting in obesity (Stunkard et al. Am J of Med. 1955; 19 78-86). Alexithymia refers to the impairment in recognizing and describing feelings. The impairment in distinguishing emotions from body sensations may lead patients to confuse emotional arousal with physical hunger (Sifneos et al. Mod. trends psychosom. med. 1976; 3 430-439). This mechanism could lead to nocturnal food intake. Alexithymia was firstly described in BED and was related to BED severity. Objectives To our knowledge no studies have investigated the relationship between alexithymia and NES. The aim of the present study was to assess alexithymia in patients with NES, to improve surgical and nutritional outcomes. Methods 110 patients with clinical diagnosis of NES admitted to the Eating Disorder Unit, between 2013 and 2022 underwent psychiatric assessment for bariatric surgery. Clinical assessment consisted of clinical interview and the following psychometric rating scales: 20-item Toronto Alexithymia Scale; Eating Disorder Inventory 2, specifically the Interoceptive Awareness subscale; Barratt Impulsiveness Scale; Binge Eating Scale. Results The mean BES score was 24.14(SD 8.23), computed on 107 patients, of which 16 (14.5%) had no or minimal binge eating problems and 91 (82.7%) had moderate-severe binge eating problems. The mean TAS total score was 55.11(12.92), computed on 103 patients. 42 patients had a TAS-20 total score ≤50 and were categorized as non-alexithymic, and 61 had a TAS-20 total score >50 and were categorized as alexithymic. Simple linear regression was used to test if TAS-20 total score significantly predicted EDI-IA in the whole sample (97 patients). Abstract

The goal of post-transplant immunosuppressive drug therapy is to prevent organ rejection while minimizing drug toxicities. In clinical practice, a multidrug approach is commonly used and involves drugs with different mechanisms of action, including calcineurin inhibitors (CNI) (tacrolimus or cyclosporine), antimetabolite (antimet) (mycophenolate or azathioprine), inhibitors of mechanistic target of rapamycin (mTOR) (sirolimus or everolimus), and/or steroids. Although evidence based on several randomized clinical trials is available, the optimal immunosuppressive therapy has not been established and may vary among organ transplant settings. To improve the knowledge on this topic, a multiregional research network to Compare the Effectiveness and Safety of Immunosuppressive drugs in Transplant patients (CESIT) has been created with the financial support of the Italian Medicines Agency. In this article, we describe the development of this network, the framework that was designed to perform observational studies, and we also give an overview of the preliminary results that we have obtained. A multi-database transplant cohort was enrolled using a common data model based on healthcare claims data of four Italian regions (Lombardy, Veneto, Lazio, and Sardinia). Analytical datasets were created using an open-source tool for distributed analysis. To link the National Transplant Information System to the regional transplant cohorts, a semi-deterministic record linkage procedure was performed. Overall, 6,914 transplant patients from 2009–19 were identified: 4,029 (58.3%) for kidney, 2,219 (32.1%) for liver, 434 (6.3%) for heart, and 215 (3.1%) for lung. As expected, demographic and clinical characteristics showed considerable variability among organ settings. Although the triple therapy in terms of CNI + antimet/mTOR + steroids was widely dispensed for all settings (63.7% for kidney, 33.5% for liver, 53.3% for heart, and 63.7% for lung), differences in the active agents involved were detected. The CESIT network represents a great opportunity to study several aspects related to the use, safety, and effectiveness of post-transplant maintenance immunosuppressive therapy in real practice.

Abstract Background Metastatic pancreatic cancer has a median overall survival of less than 12 months, even if treated with chemotherapy. Selected patients with oligometastatic disease could benefit from multimodal treatments connecting chemotherapy and surgical treatment or radiofrequency ablation (RFA) of metastases. Case presentation We present a patient with oligometastatic pancreatic cancer recurrence who was successfully treated with a multimodal therapeutic approach. A 57-year-old male initially presenting with resectable pancreatic cancer underwent pancreatoduodenectomy. The histopathological diagnosis revealed ductal pancreatic adenocarcinoma with positive surgical resection margins and negative lymph nodes. He completed six cycles of adjuvant therapy with gemcitabine (1000 mg/mq 1,8,15q 28), followed by external radiotherapy (54 Gy in 25 fractions) associated with gemcitabine 50 mg/mq twice weekly. Three years later, the patient developed multiple liver metastases, and he started FOLFIRINOX (oxaliplatin 85 mg/mq, irinotecan 180 mg/mq, leucovorin 400 mg/mq and fluorouracil 400 mg/mq given as a bolus followed by 2400 mg/mq as a 46 h continuous infusion,1q 14) as a first-line treatment. The CT scan showed a partial response after 6 cycles. After multidisciplinary discussion, the patient underwent a laparotomic metastasectomy of the three hepatic lesions. After additional postsurgical chemotherapy with 4 cycles of the FOLFIRINOX schedule, the patient remained free of recurrence for 12 months. A CT scan showed a new single liver metastasis, which was treated with radiofrequency ablation (RFA). A second radiofrequency ablation was performed when the patient developed another single liver lesion 12 months after the first RFA; currently, the patient is free from recurrence with an overall survival of 6 years from the diagnosis. Conclusions Our case has benefited from successful multimodal treatment, including surgical and local ablative techniques and systemic chemotherapy. A multimodal approach may be warranted in selected patients with oligometastatic pancreatic cancer and could improve overall survival. Further research is needed to investigate this approach.

Abstract

Accreting supermassive black holes (SMBHs) located at the centers of galaxies are typically surrounded by large quantities of gas and dust. The structure and evolution of this circumnuclear material can be studied at different wavelengths, from the submillimeter to the X-ray. Recent X-ray studies have shown that the covering factor of the obscuring material tends to decrease with increasing Eddington ratio, likely due to radiative feedback on dusty gas. Here we study a sample of 549 nearby ( z ≲ 0.1) hard X-ray (14–195 keV) selected nonblazar active galactic nuclei (AGN) and use the ratio between the AGN infrared and bolometric luminosity as a proxy of the covering factor. We find that, in agreement with what has been found by X-ray studies of the same sample, the covering factor decreases with increasing Eddington ratio. We also confirm previous findings that showed that obscured AGN typically have larger covering factors than unobscured sources. Finally, we find that the median covering factors of AGN located in different regions of the column density–Eddington ratio diagram are in good agreement with what would be expected from a radiation-regulated growth of SMBHs.

Abstract

We present a multiwavelength analysis of the dwarf Seyfert 2 galaxy J144013+024744, a candidate obscured active galactic nucleus (AGN) thought to be powered by an intermediate-mass black hole (IMBH, M _• ≈ 10 ^4 −10 ^6 M _⊙ ) of mass M _• ∼ 10 ^5.2 M _⊙ . To study its X-ray properties, we targeted J144013+024744 with NuSTAR for ≈100 ks. The X-ray spectrum was fitted with an absorbed power law, Pexmon, and a physical model (RXTorus). A Bayesian X-ray analysis was performed to estimate the posteriors. The phenomenological and the physical models suggest the AGN to be heavily obscured by a column density of N _H = (3.4–7.0) × 10 ^23 cm ^−2 . In particular, the RXTorus model with a subsolar metallicity suggests the obscuring column to be almost Compton-thick. We compared the 2–10 keV intrinsic X-ray luminosity with the inferred X-ray luminosities based on empirical scaling relations for unobscured AGNs using L _[O _iv _] 25.89 _ μ _m , L _[O _iii _] _λ _5007 , and L _6 _μ _m and found that the high-excitation [O iv ] line provides a better estimate of the intrinsic 2–10 keV X-ray luminosity ( ${L}_{2\mbox{--}10}^{\mathrm{int}}\sim {10}^{41.41}$ erg s ^−1 ). Our results suggest that J144013+024744 is the first type 2 dwarf galaxy that shows X-ray spectroscopic evidence for obscuration. The column density that we estimated is among the highest measured to date for IMBH-powered AGNs, implying that a typical AGN torus geometry might extend to the low-mass end. This work has implications for constraining the BH occupation fraction in dwarf galaxies using X-ray observations.

BackgroundAlthough there are some controversies regarding whole pelvic radiation therapy (WPRT) due to its gastrointestinal and hematologic toxicities, it is considered for patients with gynecological, rectal, and prostate cancer. To effectively spare organs-at-risk (OAR) doses using multi-leaf collimator (MLC)’s optimal segments, potential dosimetric benefits in volumetric modulated arc therapy (VMAT) using a half-beam technique (HF) were investigated for WPRT.MethodsWhile the size of a fully opened field (FF) was decided to entirely include a planning target volume in all beam’s eye view across arc angles, the HF was designed to use half the FF from the isocenter for dose optimization. The left or the right half of the FF was alternatively opened in VMAT-HF using a pair of arcs rotating clockwise and counterclockwise. Dosimetric benefits of VMAT-HF, presented with dose conformity, homogeneity, and dose–volume parameters in terms of modulation complex score, were compared to VMAT optimized using the FF (VMAT-FF). Consequent normal tissue complication probability (NTCP) by reducing the irradiated volumes was evaluated as well as dose–volume parameters with statistical analysis for OAR. Moreover, beam-on time and MLC position precision were analyzed with log files to assess plan deliverability and clinical applicability of VMAT-HF as compared to VMAT-FF.ResultsWhile VMAT-HF used 60%–70% less intensity modulation complexity than VMAT-FF, it showed superior dose conformity. The small intestine and colon in VMAT-HF showed a noticeable reduction in the irradiated volumes of up to 35% and 15%, respectively, at an intermediate dose of 20–45 Gy. The small intestine showed statistically significant dose sparing at the volumes that received a dose from 15 to 45 Gy. Such a dose reduction for the small intestine and colon in VMAT-HF presented a significant NTCP reduction from that in VMAT-FF. Without sacrificing the beam delivery efficiency, VMAT-HF achieved effective OAR dose reduction in dose–volume histograms.ConclusionsVMAT-HF led to deliver conformal doses with effective gastrointestinal-OAR dose sparing despite using less modulation complexity. The dose of VMAT-HF was delivered with the same beam-on time with VMAT-FF but precise MLC leaf motions. The VMAT-HF potentially can play a valuable role in reducing OAR toxicities associated with WPRT.

Abstract

1ES 1927+654 is a nearby active galactic nucleus (AGN) which underwent a changing-look event in early 2018, developing prominent broad Balmer lines which were absent in previous observations. We have followed up this object in the X-rays with an ongoing campaign that started in May 2018, and that includes 265 NICER (for a total of 678 ks) and 14 Swift/XRT (26 ks) observations, as well as three simultaneous XMM-Newton/NuSTAR (158/169 ks) exposures. In the X-rays, 1ES 1927+654 shows a behaviour unlike any previously known AGN. The source is extremely variable both in spectral shape and flux, and does not show any correlation between X-ray and UV flux on timescales of hours or weeks/months. After the outburst the power-law component almost completely disappeared, and the source showed an extremely soft continuum dominated by a blackbody component. The temperature of the blackbody increases with the luminosity, going from kT ∼ 80 eV (for a 0.3–2 keV luminosity of L(0.3−2) ∼ 10^(41.5) erg/s) to ∼ 200 eV (for L(0.3−2) ∼ 10^(44) erg/s). The spectra show evidence of ionized outflows, and of a prominent feature at ∼ 1 keV, which can be reproduced by a broad emission line. The unique characteristics of 1ES 1927+654 in the X-ray band suggest that it belongs to a new type of changing-look AGN. Future X-ray surveys might detect several more objects with similar properties.

25. The Destruction and Recreation of the X-Ray Corona in a Changing-look Active Galactic Nucleus

Abstract

We present the drastic transformation of the X-ray properties of the active galactic nucleus 1ES 1927+654, following a changing-look event. After the optical/UV outburst the power-law component, produced in the X-ray corona, disappeared, and the spectrum of 1ES 1927+65 instead became dominated by a blackbody component (kT ∼ 80− 120 eV). This implies that the X-ray corona, ubiquitously found in AGN, was destroyed in the event. Our dense ∼ 450 day long X-ray monitoring shows that the source is extremely variable in the X-ray band. On long time scales the source varies up to ∼ 4 dex in ∼ 100 days, while on short timescales up to ∼ 2 dex in ∼ 8 hours. The luminosity of the source is found to first show a strong dip down to ∼ 10(exp 40) erg/s, and then a constant increase in luminosity to levels exceeding the pre-outburst level &300 days after the optical event detection, rising up asymptotically to ∼ 2 × 10(exp 44) erg/s. As the X-ray luminosity of the source increases, the X-ray corona is recreated, and a very steep power-law component (Γ ≃ 3) reappears, and dominates the emission for 0.3–2 keV luminosities & 10(exp 43.7) erg/s, ∼ 300 days after the beginning of the event. We discuss possible origins of this event, and speculate that our observations could be explained by the interaction between the accretion flow and debris from a tidally disrupted star. Our results show that changing-look events can be associated with dramatic and rapid transformations of the innermost regions of accreting SMBHs.

Abstract

The new era of designing in architecture and civil engineering applications lies in the Building Information Modeling (BIM) approach, based on a 3D geometric model including a 3D database. This is easier for new constructions whereas, when dealing with existing buildings, the creation of the BIM is based on the accurate knowledge of the as-built construction. Such a condition is allowed by a 3D survey, often carried out with laser scanning technology or modern photogrammetry, which are able to guarantee an adequate points cloud in terms of resolution and completeness by balancing both time consuming and costs with respect to the request of final accuracy. The BIM approach for existing buildings and even more for historical buildings is not yet a well known and deeply discussed process. There are still several choices to be addressed in the process from the survey to the model and critical issues to be discussed in the modeling step, particularly when dealing with unconventional elements such as deformed geometries or historical elements. The paper describes a comprehensive workflow that goes through the survey and the modeling, allowing to focus on critical issues and key points to obtain a reliable BIM of an existing monument. The case study employed to illustrate the workflow is the Basilica of St. Stefano in Bologna (Italy), a large monumental complex with great religious, historical and architectural assets.

28. Constraining the X-ray reflection in low accretion-rate active galactic nuclei using XMM-Newton, NuSTAR, and Swift

Abstract

Context. An interesting feature of active galactic nuclei (AGN) accreting at low rates is the weakness of the reflection features in their X-ray spectra, which may result from the gradual disappearance of the torus with decreasing accretion rates. It has been suggested that low-luminosity AGN (LLAGN) would exhibit a different reflector configuration than high-luminosity AGN, covering a smaller fraction of the sky or simply having less material. Additionally, we note that the determination of the spectral index (Γ) and the cut-off energy of the primary power-law emission is affected by the inclusion of reflection models, showing their importance in studying accretion mechanisms. This is especially valid in the case of the LLAGN which has previously shown a high dispersion in the relation between Γ and the accretion rate. Aims. Our purpose is to constrain the geometry and column density of the reflector in a sample of LLAGN covering a broad X-ray range of energy by combining data from XMM-Newton+ NuSTAR + Swift. The spectral analysis also allows us to investigate the accretion mechanism in LLAGN. Methods. We used XMM-Newton+ NuSTAR + Swift observations of a hard X-ray flux-limited sample of 17 LLAGN from BASS/DR2 with accretion rates of λEdd = LBol/LEdd < 10−3. We fit all spectra using the reflection model for torus (BORUS) and accretion disk (XILLVER) reflectors. Results. We found a tentative correlation between the torus column density and the accretion rate, with LLAGN showing a lower column density than the high-luminosity objects. We also confirm the relation between Γ and λEdd, with a smaller scatter than previously reported, thanks to the inclusion of high-energy data and the reflection models. Our results are consistent with a break at λEdd ∼ 10−3, which is suggestive of a different accretion mechanism compared with higher accretion AGN.

Abstract

The aim of this report is to present the root cause analysis on failed patient‐specific quality assurance (QA) measurements of pencil beam scanning (PBS) protons; referred to as PBS‐QA measurement. A criterion to fail a PBS‐QA measurement is having a 94%, 94 to >88%, and 3% per mm dose gradient with respect to depth on the failed measurements. We utilized a 2D/three‐dimensional (3D) gamma index analysis toolkit to investigate the effect of depth dose gradient. By utilizing this 3D toolkit, 43.1% of the failed measurements were improved. A feature among measurements that remained sub‐optimal after re‐analysis was a sharp >3% per mm lateral dose gradient that may not be well handled using the detector size of 5.0 mm in‐diameter. An analysis of the sampling of finite size detectors using one‐dimensional (1D) error function showed a large dose deviation at locations of low‐dose areas between two high‐dose plateaus. User error, large depth dose gradient, and the effect of detector size are identified as root causes. With the mitigation of the root causes, the goals of patient‐specific QA, specifically detecting actual deviation of beam delivery or identifying limitations of the dose calculation algorithm of the treatment planning system, can be directly related to failure of the PBS‐QA measurements.

Purpose. To evaluate the role of the activation of mTOR (phosphorylated mTOR, p-mTOR) and the expression SSTR2A and IGF-1R as prognostic factor in well-differentiated neuroendocrine tumors. Methods. A retrospective study was conducted on data from patients with diagnosis of neuroendocrine tumor originated from pancreas (pNET) or gastrointestinal tract (stomach, appendix, and ileus; GI-NET) made between January 2003 and December 2004 and followed up at our institution. Archival material should be available for revision according to WHO 2010 neuroendocrine tumor classification and for p-mTOR, SSTR2A, and IGF-1R immunostaining, calculating a quantitative score (QS). We evaluated clinical, pathological, and immunohistochemistry features for association with the presence of advanced disease at diagnosis and disease relapse in patients who have undergone radical surgery. Results. Archival material from 64 patients was analyzed (37 pNETs and 27 GI-NETs). In these patients, G2 grading, low SSTR2A QS, and high p-mTOR QS were associated with advanced disease at diagnosis at multivariate analysis. Risk of recurrence in 49 patients with R0-resected tumors was higher for G2 grading, stage IIIB-IV, low IGF-1R QS, and high p-mTOR QS at univariate analysis. Conclusions. With the limits of retrospective data, activation of m-TOR is correlated with advanced disease at diagnosis and with shorter disease-free survival after R0 resection. Validation through prospective studies is needed.

Abstract

We present the analysis of $\sim 100$pc-scale compact radio continuum sources detected in 63 local (Ultra) Luminous Infrared Galaxies (U/LIRGs; $L_{\rm IR} \ge 10^{11} L_\odot$), using FWHM $\lesssim 0''.1 - 0''.2$ resolution 15 and 33 GHz observations with the Karl G. Jansky Very Large Array. We identify a total of 133 compact radio sources with effective radii of 8 - 170pc, which are classified into four main categories -- "AGN" (AGN), "AGN/SBnuc" (AGN-starburst composite nucleus), "SBnuc" (starburst nucleus) and "SF" (star-forming clumps) -- based on ancillary datasets and the literature. We find that "AGN" and "AGN/SBnuc" more frequently occur in late-stage mergers and have up to 3 dex higher 33 GHz luminosities and surface densities compared with "SBnuc" and "SF", which may be attributed to extreme nuclear starburst and/or AGN activity in the former. Star formation rates (SFRs) and surface densities ($\Sigma_{\rm SFR}$) are measured for "SF" and "SBnuc" using both the total 33 GHz continuum emission (SFR $\sim 0.14 - 13$ M$_\odot$ yr$^{-1}$, $\Sigma_{\rm SFR} \sim 13 - 1600$ M$_\odot$ yr$^{-1}$ kpc$^{-2}$) and the thermal free-free emission from HII regions (median SFR$_{\rm th} \sim 0.4$ M$_\odot$ yr$^{-1}$, $\Sigma_{\rm SFR_{th}} \sim 44$ M$_\odot$ yr$^{-1}$ kpc$^{-2}$). These values are 1 - 2 dex higher than those measured for similar-sized clumps in nearby normal (non-U/LIRGs). The latter also have much flatter median 15 - 33 GHz spectral index ($\sim -0.08$) compared with "SBnuc" and "SF" ($\sim -0.46$), which may reflect higher non-thermal contribution from supernovae and/or ISM densities in local U/LIRGs that directly result from and/or lead to their extreme star-forming activities on 100\,pc scales., Comment: Accepted for publication in ApJ

Abstract

We study the relation between obscuration and supermassive black hole (SMBH) accretion using a large sample of hard X-ray selected active galactic nuclei (AGNs). We find a strong decrease in the fraction of obscured sources above the Eddington limit for dusty gas (log lambda(Edd) >= -2) confirming earlier results, and consistent with the radiation-regulated unification model. This also explains the difference in the Eddington ratio distribution functions (ERDFs) of type 1 and type 2 AGNs obtained by a recent study. The break in the ERDF of nearby AGNs is at log lambda*(Edd) = -1.34 +/- 0.07. This corresponds to the lambda(Edd) where AGNs transition from having most of their sky covered by obscuring material to being mostly devoid of absorbing material. A similar trend is observed for the luminosity function, which implies that most of the SMBH growth in the local universe happens when the AGN is covered by a large reservoir of gas and dust. These results could be explained with a radiation-regulated growth model, in which AGNs move in the N-H-lambda(Edd) plane during their life cycle. The growth episode starts with the AGN mostly unobscured and accreting at low lambda(Edd). As the SMBH is further fueled, lambda(Edd), N-H and the covering factor increase, leading the AGN to be preferentially observed as obscured. Once lambda(Edd) reaches the Eddington limit for dusty gas, the covering factor and N-H rapidly decrease, leading the AGN to be typically observed as unobscured. Abstract

BACKGROUND: In primary care risk stratification, automated algorithms do not consider the same factors as providers. The process of adjudication, in which providers review and adjust algorithm-derived risk scores, may improve the prediction of adverse outcomes. OBJECTIVE: We assessed the patient factors that influenced provider adjudication behavior and evaluated the performance of an adjudicated risk model against a commercial algorithm. DESIGN: (1) Structured interviews with primary care providers (PCP) and multivariable regression analysis and (2) receiver operating characteristic curves (ROC) with sensitivity analyses. PARTICIPANTS: Primary care patients aged 18 years and older with an adjudicated risk score. APPROACH AND MAIN MEASURES: (1) Themes from structured interviews and discrete variables associated with provider adjudication behavior; (2) comparison of concordance statistics and sensitivities between risk models. KEY RESULTS: 47,940 patients were adjudicated by PCPs in 2018. Interviews revealed that, in adjudication, providers consider disease severity, presence of self-management skills, behavioral health, and whether a risk score is actionable. Provider up-scoring from the algorithmic risk score was significantly associated with patient male sex (OR 1.24, CI 1.15–1.34), age > 65 (OR 2.55, CI 2.24–2.91), Black race (1.26, CI 1.02–1.55), polypharmacy >10 medications (OR 4.87, CI 4.27–5.56), a positive depression screen (OR 1.57, CI 1.43–1.72), and hemoglobin A1c >9 (OR 1.89, CI 1.52–2.33). Abstract

Immune Check-Point Inhibitors (CPIs) have improved long-term patients’ outcomes in several advanced cancers. Diabetes mellitus induced by CPIs (CPI-DM) is considered the second most frequent endocrine CPIs’ side effects with a variable prevalence up to 2%. The aim of our study was to identify CPI-DM characteristics and differences from the classical form of diabetes. Therefore, we conducted a structured Pubmed® search collecting publications dated from January 2015 to December 2019. A total of 642 citations were identified and 121 publications met our study criteria. We analyzed 200 case reports, including our 3 cases under publication. The majority of CPI-DM occurred with anti-Programmed cell Death-1 in monotherapy or in combination, although few cases with Programmed cell Death Ligand-1 and Cytotoxic T Lymphocyte Antigen 4 were reported. Generally, CPI-DM arose early (an average of 9weeks after CPIs starting), but also after the end of CPIs treatment. In all patients, CPI-DM has an acute onset and in 67.5% of cases diabetic ketoacidosis occurs. C-peptide levels were usually and permanently compromised, requiring lifelong insulin therapy. Moreover, autoimmunity and genetic profile was not always helpful. In particular, anti-glutamic acid decarboxylase (anti-GAD) antibodies and Human Leukocyte Antigen (HLA) DR4 were present in only 43.0% and 51.3% of cases respectively. In 51.0% of subjects a mild exocrine impairment coexisted. In short, though CPI-DM has similarities to type 1 diabetes mellitus, it represents a new, largely unknown, clinical entity. In addition, as CPI-DM is a relative frequent side-effect under CPI, a close monitoring of the glucose levels and early signs and symptoms of diabetes in patients affected by neoplasm is recommended.

Abstract

Specific lipid species play central roles in cell biology. Their presence or enrichment in individual membranes can control properties or direct protein localization and/or activity. Therefore, probes to detect and observe these lipids in intact cells are essential tools in the cell biologist’s freezer box. Herein, we discuss genetically encoded lipid biosensors, which can be expressed as fluorescent protein fusions to track lipids in living cells. We provide a state-of-the-art list of the most widely available and reliable biosensors and highlight new probes (circa 2018–2021). Notably, we focus on advances in biosensors for phosphatidylinositol, phosphatidic acid, and PI 3-kinase lipid products.

Abstract

Conventional sewage treatment systems are generally not designed to remove micropollutants, requiring the development of new technologies, such as the combination of biological processes with advanced oxidative processes. The configuration of an anaerobic expanded granular sludge bed (EGSB) reactor stands out for its use of granular biomass and high sludge bed expansion. Ozonation is an advanced oxidative process that stands out as one of the most promising technologies for the degradation of micropollutants. Thus, the present work aimed to evaluate the removal of drugs through the application of ozonation as a polishing process for the effluent of an EGSB reactor that was fed with synthetic sewage. Ozonation was shown to be efficient in the degradation of these compounds, reaching removals above 90%. It was found that the degradation profile of each drug varied according to its chemical structure since some drugs are more susceptible to oxidation than others and since the concentrations of pharmaceuticals are also related to their removal. Moreover, the assessment of risks to the environment and human health confirmed the need to assess the best scenario for risk reduction considering all drugs, since even with almost complete removal of some compounds, the effluents still showed toxicity. Thus, the high removal efficiencies found for the evaluated micropollutants showed that this technique has the potential to be used to improve the quality of biological reactor effluents or even to be combined in effluent reuse systems.

Abstract

Sewage treatment plants effluent is considered the primary source of many micropollutants in aquatic systems since their biological treatment is commonly unable to remove persistent micropollutants. However, its efficacy can be achieved with the aid of advanced treatment technologies, such as membrane processes. This work evaluated the removal efficiency of 7 pharmaceuticals (Ketoprofen, Prednisone, Fenofibrate, Fluconazole, Betamethasone, Loratadine and 17α-Ethinyl estradiol) in a hybrid system (EGSB-MBR) where an ultrafiltration membrane was submerged in an anaerobic expanded granular sludge bed (EGSB) reactor. This integrated system improved the removal efficiencies of pharmaceuticals (>84 %) and chemical oxygen demand (COD). The EGSB reactor alone showed COD reductions around 92 %, while the EGSB-MBR system achieved COD reductions above 98 %. Furthermore, the permeate showed lower concentrations of nutrients (P, N-NH4+) and volatile fatty acids (VFAs) than the effluent from the anaerobic reactor alone. Anaerobic biodegradability tests, together with bioreactor results, pointed out the mechanisms involved in the removal of each drug. The risk assessment showed that the permeate presented a low probability of risk to human health and that the UF membrane was able to reduce the risk of the final effluent.

Abstract

Study Objectives The objective of the study was to investigate the association of sleep quality, media use and book reading on internalizing, externalizing and prosocial behavior in early childhood. Methods In this cross-sectional study, we investigated a data set consisting of three consecutive yearly waves of the prospective Ulm SPATZ Health Study, conducted in southern Germany with 565, 496, and 421 children of 4–6 years of age, respectively. Standardized effects of the overall score and subscales of the Children’s Sleep Habits Questionnaire, parent-reported child media use and book reading as well as their interaction term on the total score of the Strengths and Difficulties Questionnaire along with its externalizing, internalizing and prosocial subscales were estimated by multivariate adjusted random intercept mixed models. Results Overall sleep quality was associated more with internalizing than externalizing behavior; parasomnias associated with both behaviors. Night waking and sleep anxiety associated only with internalizing behavior. High levels of media use were associated with less internalizing behavior. More book reading resulted in less externalizing and internalizing behavior but more prosocial behavior. Finally, book reading and media use do not interact to determine child’s behavior. Conclusions The current work supports a strategy of monitoring sleep quality, reducing media use and promoting book reading in order to avoid behavioral problems in early childhood.

Abstract

A search for Wγ resonances in the mass range between 0.7 and 6.0 TeV is presented. The W boson is reconstructed via its hadronic decays, with the final-state products forming a single large-radius jet, owing to a high Lorentz boost of the W boson. The search is based on proton-proton collision data at s=13 TeV, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 137 fb−1, collected with the CMS detector at the LHC in 2016–2018. The Wγ mass spectrum is parameterized with a smoothly falling background function and examined for the presence of resonance-like signals. No significant excess above the predicted background is observed. Model-specific upper limits at 95% confidence level on the product of the cross section and branching fraction to the Wγ channel are set. Limits for narrow resonances and for resonances with an intrinsic width equal to 5% of their mass, for spin-0 and spin-1 hypotheses, range between 0.17 fb at 6.0 TeV and 55 fb at 0.7 TeV. These are the most restrictive limits to date on the existence of such resonances over a large range of probed masses. In specific heavy scalar (vector) triplet benchmark models, narrow resonances with masses between 0.75 (1.15) and 1.40 (1.36) TeV are excluded for a range of model parameters. Model-independent limits on the product of the cross section, signal acceptance, and branching fraction to the Wγ channel are set for minimum Wγ mass thresholds between 1.5 and 8.0 TeV. © 2022 The Author(s)

Abstract

Ionised gas kinematics provide crucial evidence of the impact that active galactic nuclei (AGN) have in regulating star formation in their host galaxies. Although the presence of outflows in AGN host galaxies has been firmly established, the calculation of outflow properties such as mass outflow rates and kinetic energy remains challenging. Abstract

Objectives Pheochromocytomas are rare tumors which can present with heterogeneous secretion profiles, clinical manifestations, and radiologic appearance. Under a histopathological point of view, they can be characterized as more or less aggressive with the Pheochromocytoma of the Adrenal gland Scaled Score (PASS) and the Grading system for Adrenal Pheochromocytoma and Paraganglioma (GAPP) score. The aim of this study is to analyze the texture analysis characteristics of pheochromocytoma and identify whether the texture analysis can yield information aiding in the diagnosis and the characterization of those tumors. Methods Radiological, biochemical, and histopathological data regarding 30 consecutive patients with histologically confirmed pheochromocytoma were analyzed. Images obtained in the unenhanced, late arterial, venous, and delayed phases were used for the texture analysis. Results Urinary epinephrine and metanephrine levels showed a significant correlation (R2 = 0.946; R2 = 699) in the multivariate linear model with texture features, as well as Ki-67 (R2 = 0.397), PASS score (R2 = 0.182), GAPP score (R2 = 0.705), and cellularity showed a significant correlation (R2 = 0.389). The cluster analysis based on radiomic features resulted in 2 clusters, with significative differences in terms of systolic and diastolic blood pressure values at the time of diagnosis (p = 0.025), GAPP score (4 vs 6, p = 0.05), histological pattern (1–2, p = 0.039), and comedonecrosis (0% vs 50%, p = 0.013). Conclusion In conclusion, our study provides the proof of concept for the use of texture analysis on contrast-enhanced CT images as a noninvasive, quantitative tool for helping in the characterization of the clinical, biochemical, and histopathological features of pheochromocytoma.

50. An extended [CII] halo around a massive star-forming galaxy at z = 5.3

Abstract

High-redshift observations are often biased towards massive and bright galaxies that are not necessarily representative of the full population. In order to accurately study galaxy evolution and mass assembly at these redshifts, observations of ``normal'' main sequence galaxies are required. Here we present Atacama Large Millimeter/Submillimeter Array (ALMA) 0.3" resolution observations of the [CII] emission line at 158$\mu$m of HZ7, a main sequence galaxy at $z=5.25$. Comparing to archival rest-frame UV observations taken by the Hubble Space Telescope (HST), we find strong evidence of the existence of extended [CII] emission, which we estimate to be twice the size of the rest-frame UV emission, yielding one of the first high-redshift objects where a clear signature of a [CII] ``Halo'' has been detected to date. For a matched S\'ersic profile with n = 1, we measured a [CII] effective radius of $0.50\pm 0.04$" (3.07$\pm 0.25$ kpc) and an average rest-frame UV effective radius of $0.2\pm0.04$" ($1.48\pm0.16$ kpc). The [CII] morphology and kinematics of the system suggest a merging event resulting in a non rotating disk system. This event could be responsible for the extended [CII] emission. Alternatively, some potential obscured emission could also explain the [CII] to UV size ratio.
