This article reports on an interdisciplinary project that conducted a series of systematic reviews of academic research about the use of pornography and sexual health. Academics from a variety of disciplines were involved; half of the team had a background in humanities and the other half a background in psychology. While working closely together, they realized that they disagreed on many different matters, such as how to ask questions, how to use definitions, what count as data, what counts as a good outcome in research, how to structure an academic article, and how to use other academics' work. This article reports on the team members' use of reflective practice to analyze their responses to these disagreements and suggests that such disagreements can be seen as positive and productive in interdisciplinary research as they may facilitate collaboration among those representing different disciplines.

El presente trabajo de investigación tiene como objetivo realizar un estudio de benchmarking del mercado de rosas neerlandés, con el fin de examinar sus procesos de producción y comercialización. Este análisis es llevado a cabo mediante una evaluación de la funcionalidad de sus procedimientos como una estrategia competitiva que permita identificar las deficiencias existentes en las exportaciones de rosas ecuatorianas. Para esto se realizó un análisis comparativo de datos de los índices de exportación, índices de competitividad e innovación mediante el uso de diferentes métodos teóricos analíticos y sintéticos, sumando el uso de métodos empíricos, específicamente, el estudio de documentos, lo dicho facilita la interpretación, conceptualización y manipulación de los resultados obtenidos a través de la investigación. Entre los hallazgos más importantes para mejorar el sector de las rosas ecuatorianas está enfocarse en una mayor inversión hacia la infraestructura y logística internacional, si lo dicho se incorpora Ecuador podrá manejar un volumen más elevado de exportaciones. Los resultados obtenidos también consideran la innovación como un factor esencial para aumentar la producción de rosas y, por ende, mejorar su competitividad global. Así mismo, se ha considerado el uso de certificaciones que agreguen más valor comercial a las rosas, lo que ayudará a una diversificación de mercado más estructurada.

Researchers and media commentators often claim that young people are increasingly learning about sex through pornography, but evidence about this is unclear. This article reports on a mixed methods systematic review of research on pornography use for sexual learning. Ten articles were included that explicitly addressed how porn users describe the educational aspects of pornography. Thematic analysis located five key themes about 'porn education' in these articles: learning the mechanics of sex; learning concerning sexual identities and sexualities; inadequate information through pornography; wrong lessons from pornography; and a need for more relevant sex education. No articles attempted to measure or discuss whether people who access pornography have better (or worse) skills and knowledge about sex and sexual health than those who do not. Sex education is only discussed in relation to young people, neglecting attention to lifelong learning about sex and sexuality. According to this dataset, pornography use can offer useful information about the mechanics of sex, and this is particularly pertinent for young gay men. Many articles reveal that young people are often aware of the shortcomings of pornography as a source of information and guidance, and that improvements to sex and relationships education are necessary.

This paper explores how young people of diverse genders and sexualities share information about sex, sexualities and genders. Formal approaches to education often fail to consider young people's communication and information exchange practices, including the circulation of peer knowledge through social media. In the wake of recent Australian backlash against the Safe Schools Coalition, we can observe how homophobia and queerphobia in the broader community can impact upon young peoples' ability to learn about themselves and their bodies through formal education. Yet young people of diverse genders and sexualities can be observed to support each other in peer spaces, utilising their knowledge networks. This paper explores young people's informal learning practices, the capacity of peer networks to support and educate young people, and the challenges of recognising such networks in a culture in which health and education discourses present them as "risk subjects" rather than "health agents." These issues are discussed in relation to our own experiences in research and health promotion, including one author's role as a youth peer educator. Drawing on our workplace experiences, we provide a number of anecdotal examples which highlight the complexities of informal knowledge practice and information circulation, and the ways these can challenge and reform professional health, education, and research approaches.

Scholars have long been critical of development agendas where Global North organisations develop aid programmes and resources to address inequalities in the Global South, which tend to reflect Western values, frameworks, and identity. Critical response can be seen in current calls for decolonising the 'resourcing' of LGBTQ+ young people in the Global South. Drawing from the postcolonial lenses of 'Asia as Method' and a reorienting of that paradigm through 'queer Asia as method', we argue for 'queering' approaches to digitally resourcing LGBTQ+ young people in the region by centring the knowledge of local communities. This paper is informed by findings from two research projects involving digital resources on young people's digital citizenship, safety, literacy and participation, and the lived experiences of respondents from 10 countries across the Asia Pacific. Accurate data collection from LGBTIQ+ communities is crucial for public health research and the provision of equitable services. Emergent fluid, multiple, trans and non-binary gender identities complicate data collection in ways that make an excellent case-study for rethinking the categorization of such data. In this article, we explore some of the obstacles to collecting data from trans, gender-diverse and non-binary (TGD) communities, and the difficulties in synthesizing meaning about fluid or multiple identity categories. We review a selection of international surveys from the last 10 years and then present a case-study of data collection in an Australian mixed-methods study of LGBTQ+ young people's uses of social media. In doing so we draw upon trans and gender diverse people's lived experiences to reinterpret our survey dataset in which responses that 'refused categorisation' were initially removed. We argue that theorizing the 'social life of data' – that is analysing the disciplinary orientation and purpose of research, while also acknowledging the moment and site of data collection, the methods used, and the mutable meanings in play – better accounts for the lived experiences of gender beyond binary and static identities. Analysing survey data from 1,304 LGBTQ + young people in Australia collected in 2016, this paper considers key distinctions between the experiences of bisexual and pansexual participants, and lesbian and gay participants in relation to social media use and aspects of connection, harassment and mental health. Presenting quantitative data, illustrated by qualitative extracts, we found broad similarities in motivations for using social media and how participants connected to peers and communities. There were some statistically significant differences, however, in respondents' motivations for using social media and who they connected with on these platforms. Importantly, bisexual and pansexual participants reported more negative experiences of harassment and exclusion across all major social media platforms when compared to their lesbian and gay peers. Bisexual and pansexual respondents also reported poorer mental health experiences. These findings speak to the different impacts of discrimination and oppression that young people experience in everyday life. There is a need for focused attention on bisexual and pansexual young people in academic, policy and youth-work domains. Young people will benefit from more substantial school-based education on LGBTQ + identities - beyond the experiences of gay and lesbian people - to 'usualise' varieties of difference in gender and sexual identity.
