In this paper we relate a well-known in symplectic geometry compactification of the space of symmetric bilinear forms considered as a chart of the Lagrangian Grassmannian to the specific compactifications of the space of electrical networks in the disc obtained in \cite{L}, \cite{CGS} and \cite{BGKT}. In particular, we state an explicit connection between these works and describe some of the combinatorics developed there in the language of symplectic geometry. We also show that the combinatorics of the concordance vectors forces the uniqueness of the symplectic form, such that corresponding points of the Grassmannian are isotropic. We define a notion of Lagrangian concordance which provides a construction of the compactification of the space of electrical networks in the positive part of the Lagrangian Grassmannian bypassing the construction from \cite{L}., Comment: Minor corrections, journal version

We review the notion of symplectic duality earlier introduced in the context of topological recursion. We show that the transformation of symplectic duality can be expressed as a composition of $x-y$ dualities in a broader context of log topological recursion. As a corollary, we establish nice properties of symplectic duality: various convenient explicit formulas, invertibility, group property, compatibility with topological recursion and KP integrability. As an application of these properties, we get a new and uniform proof of topological recursion for large families of weighted double Hurwitz numbers; this encompasses and significantly extends all previously known results on this matter., Comment: 28 pages

We introduce a new concept of logarithmic topological recursion that provides a patch to topological recursion in the presence of logarithmic singularities and prove that this new definition satisfies the universal $x-y$ swap relation. This result provides a vast generalization and a proof of a very recent conjecture of Hock. We discuss a universal relation that we call the $x-y$ swap relation, which plays a prominent role in the theory of topological recursion, Hurwitz theory, and free probability theory. For a given spectral curve, we construct a family of symplectic dual spectral curves for which we prove an explicit formula expressing the $n$-point functions produced by the topological recursion on these curves via the $n$-point functions on the original curve. We prove a recent conjecture of Borot et al. that a particular universal closed algebraic formula recovers the correlation differentials of topological recursion after the swap of $x$ and $y$ in the input data. We also show that this universal formula can be drastically simplified (as it was already done by Hock). We consider weighted double Hurwitz numbers, with the weight given by arbitrary rational function times an exponent of the completed cycles. Both special singularities are arbitrary, with the lengths of cycles controlled by formal parameters (up to some maximal length on both sides), and on one side there are also distinguished cycles controlled by degrees of formal variables. In these variables the weighted double Hurwitz numbers are presented as coefficients of expansions of some differentials that we prove to satisfy topological recursion. Our results partly resolve a conjecture that we made in [arXiv:2106.08368] and are based on a system of new explicit functional relations for the more general $(m,n)$-correlation functions, which correspond to the case when there are distinguished cycles controlled by formal variables in both special singular fibers. These $(m,n)$-correlation functions are the main theme of this paper and the latter explicit functional relations are of independent interest for combinatorics of weighted double Hurwitz numbers. We refine the result of T. Lam \cite{L} on embedding the space $E_n$ of electrical networks on a planar graph with $n$ boundary points into the totally non-negative Grassmannian $\mathrm{Gr}_{\geq 0}(n-1,2n)$ by proving first that the image lands in $\mathrm{Gr}(n-1,V)\subset \mathrm{Gr}(n-1,2n)$ where $V\subset \mathbb{R}^{2n}$ is a certain subspace of dimension $2n-2$. The role of this reduction in the dimension of the ambient space is crucial for us. We show next that the image lands in fact inside the Lagrangian Grassmannian $\mathrm{LG}(n-1,V)\subset \mathrm{Gr}(n-1,V)$. As it is well known $\mathrm{LG}(n-1)$ can be identified with $\mathrm{Gr}(n-1,2n-2)\cap \mathbb{P} L$ where $L\subset \bigwedge^{n-1}\mathbb R^{2n-2}$ is a subspace of dimension equal to the Catalan number $C_n$, moreover it is the space of the fundamental representation of the symplectic group $Sp(2n-2)$ which corresponds to the last vertex of the Dynkin diagram. We show further that the linear relations cutting the image of $E_n$ out of $\mathrm{Gr}(n-1,2n)$ found in \cite{L} define that space $L$. We study a duality for the $n$-point functions in VEV formalism that we call the ordinary vs fully simple duality. It provides an ultimate generalisation and a proper context for the duality between maps and fully simple maps observed by Borot and Garcia-Failde. Our approach allows to transfer the algebraicity properties between the systems of $n$-point functions related by this duality, and gives direct tools for the analysis of singularities. As an application, we give a proof of a recent conjecture of Borot and Garcia-Failde on topological recursion for fully simple maps., Comment: 25 pages; minor corrections

We study the $n$-point differentials corresponding to Kadomtsev-Petviashvili tau functions of hypergeometric type (also known as Orlov-Scherbin partition functions), with an emphasis on their $\hbar^2$-deformations and expansions. Under the naturally required analytic assumptions, we prove certain higher loop equations that, in particular, contain the standard linear and quadratic loop equations, and thus imply the blobbed topological recursion. We also distinguish two large families of the Orlov-Scherbin partition functions that do satisfy the natural analytic assumptions, and for these families we prove in addition the so-called projection property and thus the full statement of the Chekhov-Eynard-Orantin topological recursion. A particular feature of our argument is that it clarifies completely the role of $\hbar^2$-deformations of the Orlov-Scherbin parameters for the partition functions, whose necessity was known from a variety of earlier obtained results in this direction but never properly understood in the context of topological recursion. As special cases of the results of this paper one recovers new and uniform proofs of the topological recursion to all previously studied cases of enumerative problems related to weighted double Hurwitz numbers. By virtue of topological recursion and the Grothendieck-Riemann-Roch formula this, in turn, gives new and uniform proofs of almost all ELSV-type formulas discussed in the literature., Comment: 49 pages; several clarifications and corrections

We derive a new explicit formula in terms of sums over graphs for the $n$-point correlation functions of general formal weighted double Hurwitz numbers coming from the Kadomtsev-Petviashvili tau functions of hypergeometric type (also known as Orlov-Scherbin partition functions). Notably, we use the change of variables suggested by the associated spectral curve, and our formula turns out to be a polynomial expression in a certain small set of formal functions defined on the spectral curve., Comment: 35 pages; minor changes

We explore several types of functional relations on the family of multivariate Tutte polynomials: the Biggs formula and the star-triangle ($Y-\Delta$) transformation at the critical point $n=2$. We deduce the theorem of Matiyasevich and its inverse from the Biggs formula, and we apply this relation to construct the recursion on the parameter $n$. We provide two different proofs of the Zamolodchikov tetrahedron equation satisfied by the star-triangle transformation in the case of $n=2$ multivariate Tutte polynomial, we extend the latter to the case of valency 2 points and show that the Biggs formula and the star-triangle transformation commute.

In this paper we prove, in a purely combinatorial way, a structural quasi-polynomiality property for the Bousquet-M\'elou-Schaeffer numbers. Conjecturally, this property should follow from the Chekhov-Eynard-Orantin topological recursion for these numbers (or, to be more precise, the Bouchard-Eynard version of the topological recursion for higher order critical points), which we derive in this paper from the recent result of Alexandrov-Chapuy-Eynard-Harnad. To this end, the missing ingredient is a generalization to the case of higher order critical points on the underlying spectral curve of the existing correspondence between the topological recursion and Givental's theory for cohomological field theories., Comment: 33 pages

The main goal of the present paper are new formulae for degrees of strata in Hurwitz spaces of rational functions having two degenerate critical values with preimages of prescribed multiplicities. We consider the case where the multiplicities of the preimages of one critical value are arbitrary, while the second critical value has degeneracy of codimension~$1$. Our formulae are based on the universal cohomological expressions for codimension~$1$ strata in terms of certain basic cohomology classes in general Hurwitz spaces of rational functions obtained by M.~Kazarian and S.~Lando. We prove new relations valid in cohomology of Hurwitz spaces that were conjectured by M.~Kazarian on the base of computer experiments. As a corollary, we obtain new, previously unknown, explicit formulae for certain families of double Hurwitz numbers in genus~$0$. One may hope that the methods developed in the present paper are applicable to proving more general relations in cohomology rings of Hurwitz spaces and deducing more general formulae for double Hurwitz numbers.

We present the generating function for the numbers of isomorphism classes of coverings of the two-dimensional sphere by the genus $g$ compact oriented surface not ramified outside of a given set of $m+1$ points in the target, fixed ramification type over one point, and arbitrary ramification types over the remaining $m$ points. We present the genus expansion of this generating function and prove, that the generating function of coverings of genus $0$ satisfies some system of differential equations. We show that this generating function is a specialization of the function from paper \cite{GJ} and, therefore, satisfies the KP-hierarchy., Comment: 14 pages
