The main steps for the analysis of the Λp correlated production in low-energy K− captures on Carbon nuclei, performed by the AMADEUS collaboration, are presented. The goal is to perform the first comprehensive study of the K− absorption on two, three and four nucleons, exploiting the lowmomentum K−s (pK ~ 127 MeV/c) produced at the DAΦNE collider, and to measure the low-energy cross sections and branching ratios of the K− multinucleon absorption processes in both the Λp and Σ0p channels. An integrated luminosity of 1.74 fb−1 collected during the KLOE 2004/2005 data campaign is analysed by reconstructing the Λp final state.

The AMADEUS experiment at the DAΦNE collider of LNF-INFN deals with the investigation of the at-rest, or low-momentum, K− interactions in light nuclear targets, with the aim to constrain the low energy QCD models in the strangeness sector. The 0 step of the experiment consisted in the reanalysis of the 2004/2005 KLOE data, exploiting K− absorptions in H, 4He, 9Be and 12C, leading to the first invariant mass spectroscopic study with very low momentum (about 100 MeV) in-flight K− captures. With AMADEUS step 1 a dedicated pure Carbon target was implemented in the central region of the KLOE detector, providing a high statistic sample of pure at-rest K− nuclear interaction. The first measurement of the non-resonant transition amplitude | AK−n→Λπ− |$\left| {{A_{{K^ - }n \to \Lambda {\pi ^ - }}}} \right|$ at s=33 MeV$\sqrt s = 33\,MeV$ below the K̄N threshold is presented, in relation with the Λ(1405) properties studies. The analysis procedure adopted in the serarch for K− multi-nucleon absorption cross sections and Branching Ratios will be also described.

The AMADEUS collaboration is performing experimental investigations in the sector of the low energy strangeness hadron physics by taking advantage of the DAΦNE collider, which provides a unique source of monochromatic low-momentum kaons and exploiting the KLOE detector as an active target. The K− single and multi-nuclear absorption on H, 4He, 9Be and 12C, both at-rest and in-flight, are studied with the aim to determine the nature of the controversial Λ(1405), the non-resonant hyperon pion formation amplitude below the K̅N threshold, the yield and cross sections of K− multi-nucleon absorptions intimately connected to the antikaon multi-nucleon clusters properties and the K− scattering cross sections on light nuclear targets. These studies have a strong impact on the non-perturbative strangeness QCD with implications ranging from nuclear physics to the equation of state of neutron stars.

This study addresses critical stability concerns along a key segment of the Egyptian highway linking Aswan and Cairo, focusing on a one-kilometer rock-cut section that is vital for transportation and commerce. Recent evaluations have highlighted significant rockfall and slope instability risks in this area, posing serious safety challenges. The primary objective is to identify and analyze the factors contributing to slope instability, assess potential rockfall hazards, and recommend effective mitigation strategies. To achieve this, this study employs a comprehensive, multi-faceted methodology. Key variables influencing slope stability are first identified, followed by a detailed analysis of discontinuity data using stereographic projection based on joint surveys. Rockfall propagation distances are then modeled through specialized software, while the Plaxis 2D tool 2023.2(V23.2.0.1059) is applied for advanced numerical modeling of slope behavior. The results indicate a pressing need for mitigation measures to address ongoing instability issues, including planar and wedge failures and raveling rockfalls, which pose considerable safety risks to road users. This study highlights the necessity of a robust and comprehensive mitigation strategy to ensure road safety and support uninterrupted commercial activity along this essential highway. Offshore anchor piles are seafloor moorings that keep the position of floating structures during a harsh environment. These piles are usually subjected to a wide range of monotonic and cyclic lateral-to-oblique pullout forces. Centrifuge tests were carried out to study the behavior of offshore anchor piles under mooring forces in saturated dense sand. The tests were carried out at different loading angles. All piles were jacked into the sand bed in-flight. The pile models were instrumented with strain gauges. Bending moment, soil pressure, and pile lateral deflection profiles are presented and discussed. It was found that there is a significant interaction between both tension and lateral loading. This interaction should be considered in the design of offshore anchor piles. Key words: offshore, anchor pile, dense sand, centrifuge, inclined loading. Les pieux d'ancrage en mer sont des corps d'amarrage sur le fond marin qui maintiennent la position des structures flottantes durant les conditions environnementales difficiles. Ces pieux sont generalement soumis a une variete de forces de retrait laterales monotoniques et cycliques et meme obliques. Des essais par centrifugeuse ont ete realises pour etudier le comportement de pieux d'ancrage en mer soumis a des forces d'amarrage dans du sable dense sature. Les essais ont ete effectues a differents angles de chargement. Tous les pieux ont ete places dans le sable en vol par un verin. Les modeles de pieux ont ete instrumentes avec des jauges de deformation. Cet article presente et discute les moments de torsion, la pression du sol et les profils de deflection laterale des pieux. Il a ete determine qu'il existe une interaction significative entre la tension et le chargement lateral. Cette interaction devrait etre prise en compte lors de la conception de pieux d'ancrage en mer. In this paper, a novel planar Butler matrix (BM) utilizing only 3 dB hybrid couplers and a crossover are implemented using a low-cost silver-nano inkjet printing technique. Unlike in the conventional design of BM where a phase shifter is required, this novel design does not need a phase shifter to be implemented. However, the use of delicate substrates like polyethylene terephthalate (PET) in the design makes it unique. This is not possible with the conventional thermal curing process, as PET substrate cannot be subjected to an excessively feverish temperature. The results obtained show good return loss and transmission coefficients better than 26.10 and 23.54 dB, respectively, at the center frequency. Similarly, an amplitude imbalance of less than 2.4 dB with phase mismatch within ±0.25° is achieved at the center frequency. The BM has a -10 dB bandwidth of 24.79% with a beam pattern produced at +13°,-40°, +40°, and -13° when ports 1-4 of the BM are energized. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Background: There is little consensus on factors associated with survival in foals with septic arthritis and limited data on long‐term racing performance of Thoroughbred foals treated for septic arthritis. A more thorough understanding of short‐ and long‐term outcome is necessary to help inform owners, and subsequently guide treatment. Objectives: To investigate factors associated with survival, and to analyse racing performance of foals with septic arthritis compared with their maternal siblings. Study design: Retrospective cohort and a case‐control study. Methods: Veterinary clinical records of Thoroughbred foals ≤180 days old that underwent arthroscopic, cannulae or through‐and‐through needle lavage for the treatment of septic arthritis between 2009 and 2015 were reviewed. Data included signalment, and clinicopathological information. The dam's foaling records were reviewed and the lifetime racing records were obtained for affected foals and two of their maternal siblings. Logistic regression analysis was used to determine factors associated with survival to discharge or racing. Comparisons between treated foals and their maternal siblings were made. Results: Ninety (78%) of 115 foals diagnosed with septic arthritis were discharged alive. Foals <26 days old at the time of admission were five times less likely (P =.003) and foals with concurrent multisystemic disease were six times less likely (P =.02) to be discharged alive. Sixty (67%) foals discharged alive started in ≥1 race, and there was no difference in the proportion of foals that started in a race or racing performance between foals treated for septic arthritis and their maternal siblings. Main limitations: Retrospective study design, limited number of foals with multiple joint involvement and failure to accurately record duration of clinical signs. Conclusions: Foals treated for septic arthritis at the Scone Equine Hospital, New South Wales, Australia had a good prognosis for survival, and for this cohort, foals that survived to discharge had a similar ability to race as their maternal siblings.
