Introduction. The current state of investment and construction activities at the corporate level is determined not only by the complexity of applied engineering solutions of capital construction facilities, but also by changes in a similar trend of external and internal environments of economic entities involved in the construction of a building or structure. Such complication is caused by the permanent increase of scientific and technological progress and the manifestation of economic phenomena corresponding to it, which affect the demands of consumers and regulatory rules of the state. As a result, there is an increase in contradictions between the conditions for the implementation of investment and construction activities and the organization of construction management, which is the reason for the emergence of new options for the implementation of business processes, their addition and integration with production and security processes, i.e. the emergence of new organizational schemes for construction management. One of these schemes can be used to manage construction on the basis of production and engineering centre. As noted in the paper, the main direction of increasing efficiency in this organizational structure is the transformation of management processes, i.e. their reengineering.Materials and methods. The research is based on the postulates of cybernetics, the logistics of regulatory influences, the organization of production systems, and structural and functional analysis. The scientific background of the authors was used, which was reflected in their publications on this problem. Additional sources were scientific works of domestic and foreign scientists in this subject area.Results. The structure and composition of the production and engineering centre are substantiated, the distribution of the main groups of functions is performed, the place of such an organizational structure in the corporate management system of investment and construction activities is determined, and the directions of business process reengineering are established.Conclusions. The formation of new, modern organizational structures is a promising direction of business process reengineering to increase the efficiency of construction, improve the quality of construction products, as well as the interaction of participants of investment and construction activities.

- Abstract
The article analyzes the systemic problems that hinder the development of the energy (power) industry in Ukraine. It is proposed to consider producers and consumers of energy products as a single integral system with common approaches to the organization of activities. The author analyzes the latest research and publications of scientists, experts and specialized institutions that study the problems of the industry; unresolved issues are highlighted. The key priority areas for the effective use of the strengths of the existing internal scientific and technical potential for the successful implementation of recovery projects are identified. The author proposes to develop an organizational and economic model of interaction between producers and consumers of energy sector goods using the principles of business process reengineering, and forms a corresponding list of key aspects for successful post-war recovery of the country. In times of increasing awareness of sustainability and the need for efficient business processes, this study explores the integration of business process reengineering with circular economy principles within Serbian manufacturing organizations. Addressing the need for sustainable development, the research aims to propose and validate a model that harmonizes business process reengineering with the circular economy to improve environmental and organizational performance. The study conducted an extensive survey and analysis across 135 manufacturing organizations in Serbia, assessing their readiness and current practices in adopting circular economy strategies through business process reengineering, utilizing the Plan-Do-Check-Act (PDCA) model. The findings reveal a moderate level of integration, with an average implementation score of 44.70% across surveyed organizations. Notably, organizations with ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 certifications demonstrated higher levels of model implementation. The study highlights the potential of integrating business process reengineering with circular economy principles as a path to sustainable manufacturing. It also highlights the need for targeted strategies to improve management commitment, resource allocation, and participation in sustainable practices. The research contributes valuable insights for policymakers, industry stakeholders, and academic discourse, advocating for a more systematic approach to embedding circular economy principles within organizational processes for a sustainable future. Business is a war to get the attention you deserve from your enemies, and many competitors strive to gain a prominent position. Organizations are constantly seeking innovative ways to work to stay in a competitive business environment. Business process reengineering (BPR) is one of the most management approaches that are adopted by many organizations in order to achieve a dramatic increase in performance and cost reduction. Since the risks enfolded and failure rates related to BPR projects are very high, it is necessary to find ways to support success of BPR in a systematic approach. The major target of this article is to find the implementation of the proposed model to reengineer business processes (BPs) successfully via integrating critical success factors (CSFs) of BPR and BPs' performance. It is created to detect the inefficiencies and bottlenecks in the business process, decrease costs, time and increase quality of business processes, enhance financial environment and make an effective and efficient performance of the business process. It also applies a mining technique of association rule to examine the link between CSFs and several BPs and measures business processes' performance (intended BPR success) by process time, cycle time, quality and cost pre and post reengineering BPs. Thus, it uses a way to select the appropriate model for each business process. The proposed model will be implemented using a real world the Egyptian tax authority case study in order to prove its usefulness and efficiency. Introduction. The formation of an effective organizational structure of construction production management at the corporate level implies adaptation to new conditions. However, in this process, there is a problem of a gap (differentiation) of the plan and action, which requires corrective actions, including with regard to the organizational structure and management processes (business processes) of investment and construction activities. In the future, such impacts will determine the nature of reengineering activities in this area. Business process reengineering and organizational structure reengineering are considered. There is a certain dependence between these types of qualitative organizational transformations, which is primarily due to the transience of the modern life cycle of engineering solutions. Thus, it is possible to identify the purpose of the research — it is a scientific justification for the improvement of the corporate regulation system through reengineering of the organizational structure and business processes of investment and construction activities. On this basis, it is possible to formulate the objectives of the research: to establish the regularity of the gap (differentiation) of the plan and action in the system of corporate governance, to identify the dependence of business processes and organizational structure of investment and construction activities in the context of reengineering of business processes and organizational structure in construction. The object of the research is the system of corporate regulation of investment and construction activities, and the subject is the organizational structure and business processes in construction. From the point of view of practical value, these types of reengineering allow an economic entity to improve the quality and efficiency of construction products by focusing production activities on the consumer and a process approach in management. On this basis it will help to gain competitive advantages, among other things through the wider use of technical means, employees meeting higher requirements of scientific and technical progress and capable of solving complex problems of investment and construction activities, arising at the present stage, in the shortest possible time.Materials and methods. The theoretical basis of the research was a system approach, logistics of regulatory impacts, structural and functional analysis, methods of investment design, strategic and operational management. The information base of the research was the scientific search carried out by the authors earlier, which was reflected in published papers on this subject. Additional sources were scientific works of domestic and foreign scientists, as well as practical materials.Results. The solution of the gap (differentiation) problem in investment and construction activities is shown, which made it possible to propose a scheme of regulation of a construction company, to establish dependencies of business processes and organizational structure of investment and construction activities, as well as dependencies of business process reengineering and organizational structure reengineering in construction.Conclusions. The gap (differentiation) between the plan and the action of a construction organization is caused by fluctuations in the external environment. The main tool for effective adaptation to external fluctuations and corporate regulation is a qualitative transformation of business processes and organizational structure, i.e. their reengineering.

15. Transforming Medical Assistance Fund Application Management: A Business Process Reengineering Approach.

The application process for the Medical Assistance Fund (MAF) to help patients receive medical interventions at public hospitals has been plagued with delays due to the increasing number of applications, inefficient management, and manual tasks. This study aims to redesign the current application process through Business Process Reengineering (BPR) and to evaluate the effectiveness of a new process to be carried out by the Medical Social Work Unit (MSWU). A new methodology, B2Lean which is based on a combination of the BPR and Lean Thinking was proposed to help identify the processes requiring improvement and to remove inefficient ones. A new online application system, the Patient Assistance Management System was proposed as an IT enabler for this BPR initiative. This study was based on a qualitative research methodology involving a case study in which interviews and observations were used to collect data. The sample study consisted of seven MSWU officers and several supporting staff selected from a government hospital. In the interviews, the '5W 1H' technique was used to elicit and analyze their feedback on issues relating to the existing processes. The findings of the analysis revealed that several manual tasks were inefficient, which had to be either removed or replaced, effectively helping to reduce the overall processing time by 52%. With the new and efficient processes, practitioners could certainly expedite patients' applications for medical assistance, thus helping them to receive prompt medical interventions. Business Process Modeling Notation (BPMN) is now the defacto BP modelling language due to rich activity and control constructs, but with possibilities to contain a bunch of semantic errors which are difficult to detect by analysts and costly to fix later. This paper proposes a mapping from BPMN to Colored Petri Nets (CPN) in order to define the formal semantics for BPMN models. 18. Improvement of outpatient service processes: a case study of the university of Hong Kong-Shenzhen hospital.

Purpose: This work presents a case study of the University of Hong Kong-Shenzhen Hospital (HKU-SZH), which was the first to implement an outpatient appointments registration system. The research question is to determine which factors influence patient satisfaction most. Methods: The study provides an anatomy of the hospital outpatient process through various methods and theories, including a literature review, field research, expert consultation, business process improvement (BPI) theory and information technology, with the aim of identifying the objectives and strategies of the hospital for improving its outpatient process. A quantitative analysis was performed using a questionnaire survey to identify the defects and weaknesses of the current model. The principles, methods and techniques of BPI theory are used to analyse various problems existing in the outpatient process and the extent of their influence. A structural equation model has been established for scientific and quantitative analysis, which can help identify the goals of optimization and measure improvement in the outpatient process and patient satisfaction. Results: It was determined the source of inefficiency of the current outpatient service process. By means of outpatient process improvement, the study aims to increase the hospital's efficiency and raise the level of patient satisfaction so that it may enhance its comprehensive competence. In addition, an effective and operable methodology will be generated, which is expected to serve as a reference for other hospitals to improve their operation and management. The level of competition and demands for higher business quality encourage the company to develop in all sectors to achieve company goals, including the banking sector, which has main business processes, one of which is serving customers in the account opening process. Therefore, this study conducted a business process analysis to open a Simpedes savings account and then build a more optimal business process improvement engineering. Business process engineering by conducting business process analysis using the BPMN standard, value-added analysis, flow analysis, and simulation using the Bizagi Modeler software. Based on the simulation at Level 2-Time Analysis, the existing business process takes 52 minutes to complete 22 activities. Meanwhile, business process improvement only takes 19 minutes for 16 account opening activities. According to the accumulated calculations, the simulation results on the Level 3-Resource Analysis business process improvement with the implementation of writing pad procurement and the raw material utilization will increase by 13,23%. The costs incurred at the beginning will be significant but have long-term benefits so that the results of business process engineering show better improvements in terms of time and cost that companies can use as business process optimization recommendations.

For a long time, the business activities of industrial companies in mechanical engineering, plant construction or the automotive industry focused on products and product-related services. Digital pioneers have refined these products such as machinery, equipment, and devices with data-driven services, which they make available worldwide via digital platforms. This emerging trend influences existing and future business models of all companies. This transition from product-related, single-sided markets to platform markets is characteristic of the digital age. The speed at which business models must change continues to be underestimated by many market participants, especially when order books are well filled and the pressure to change appears to be low. Industrial and service companies need to adapt to the changes induced by new market players to secure future business success and remain competitive in the digital age. The aim of this article is to intensify the debate on digital business models in the industry by providing practical examples of business model innovations in three industries.

The main focus of the industry in the 21st century is sustainability and customers. On a world scale, plastic produces a large carbon footprint during the process of producing to become plastic pellets. Biodegradable plastic is a sustainable solution to this environmental problem. Unfortunately, sustainable products tend to have high production costs. Lean manufacturing has been proven to provide advantages for manufacturing companies in the form of eliminating waste to increase product value and customer satisfaction. Value stream mapping (VSM) is an important tool of the lean approach and is used to identify and reduce activities that do not add value. Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) is a systematic method for evaluating the environmental burden associated with a product, process, or activity, by identifying and measuring the energy and materials consumed and the waste released into the environment. This study aims to implement the concepts of lean manufacturing and life cycle assessment at the gate-to-gate stage in the biodegradable plastics industry to reduce cycle time and environmental impact to cut production costs therefore products can be sold at lower prices. In this paper, various aspects closely related to lean manufacturing are analyzed and reviewed, such as business process reengineering (BPR), layout optimization, machine automation, line balancing, and increased capacity. The results showed that the combination of VSM and LCA with simulation is a good alternative in making decisions to reduce cycle time and environmental impact on the Biodegradable Plastics Industry. Effective maintenance of a university campus building is crucial to ensure the safety and well-being of its academic community. However, maintaining the building and its various equipment and assets can take time and effort. This study aims to optimize building maintenance by implementing Business Process Reengineering (BPR) and using an Excel-based application system to detect points of damage. The study analyzes the maintenance process's cost, duration, and damage reports using dashboard features such as Gantt chart diagrams. By comparing the Excel-based application system with the conventional system, we found that the former is more effective and efficient. The results show that the application system saves 12 hours of recapitulation time per week, increases labor productivity by 32.2%, and speeds up damage reparation by 5%. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Service in an organization is highly correlated with the level of customer satisfaction with the quality of service provided. From this activity, improvements will be made to the Business Processing Reengineering method so that the business process can run properly and efficiently. To test whether it is true that the Business Process Reengineering (BPR) approach has been able to minimize customer complaints, in this case, PDAM Giri Tirta Gresik will carry out an identification and analysis stage first on any problems. Based on the existing problems, the focus of this research was emphasized on the service process to fulfill clean water in Gresik Regency, especially in the reengineering process for new installations. A comparison of new installation business processes before and after the Business Process Reengineering, namely the percentage of throughput efficiency tests of 94.44% from 73.99% of ongoing business processes and provides the final simulation results in the form of BPMN notation which takes maximum time. which is obtained in 24 days 2 hours 20 minutes from 26 days 16 hours 5 minutes in the new installation process. Indonesia has an alarming safety level leading to the ban to fly to other countries from 2007 to 2018. Even though the government and the aviation industry in Indonesia have tried to resolve this problem, reports from the Indonesia National Transportation Safety Committee have shown that up until 2021 there were notable numbers of accidents and incidents resulting in a number of fatalities. In this paper, the authors aim to propose a framework for the improvement of the continuous airworthiness business process. We gathered the data from the available studies and applicable regulations. Interviews and surveys were conducted with airworthiness experts in Indonesia to define the critical success factors of continuous airworthiness. Then, we analyzed the current quality process in an Indonesian low-cost carrier airline with the compliance management framework. The study shows that the existing business process lacks the critical control point in accordance with the applicable regulation. Land administration (LA) is concerned with processes. Simply put, LA cannot be understood, built, or improved unless the processes associated with it are understood. When it comes to the processes involved in LA, two general processes can be identified, namely registration and dissemination. Nowadays, processes are implemented electronically; however, paper-based thinking is still present, and the performance of processes is impeded by siloed data management. These issues could be addressed through the employment of standards such as the Land Administration Domain Model. Processes are not yet part of the standard, but their inclusion in future extensions is planned. Moreover, a literature analysis indicated that there is no standardized methodology or model available for describing LA processes. Consequently, we modeled one part of land administration processes, namely data dissemination, by developing a methodology and model to describe it. The methodology was developed with the goal of providing guidelines for other researchers when modeling use cases of data dissemination processes by enabling comparisons of models, searching for best practices, and developing standardized process models. Additionally, the methodology was tested on a conceptual use case to prove its viability. Furthermore, a model based on conceptual modeling and an activity-centric process modeling approach was developed and linked to existing classes of the Land Administration Domain Model. The organizational and technological challenges which might arise when improving data dissemination processes are discussed, and possible outcomes of the developed methodology and model are provided. A rubber company was established in the Philippines in 1986 as a pioneering producer of metal and rubber goods. Despite its good reputation, the company’s manual processes caused mistakes, compliance issues, and inefficiencies, making it difficult to meet client needs. Paper-based material management made invoicing and buying order processes slow and error-prone. This study introduces the company to technologies that improve efficiency, provide real-time data, and consolidate department processes, such as Enterprise Resource Planning. The researchers employed a Business Process Reengineering methodology to plan, analyze, and model future Materials Management processes using SAP S/4HANA; the software produced reports for inventory monitoring, material tracking, trend identification, and inventory optimization to meet business needs. The results showed that using SAP S4/Hana features eliminates repetitive and manual tasks and enables recording all purchases in the system, with the ability to generate or print documents and reports as required. Implementing ERP software has reduced the lead time from 243 minutes to 40 minutes, improving the process’s effectiveness and productivity and enhancing the VS ratio. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Company X is a modern Indonesian retail company that faces stock inaccuracies continuously and the variances exceeds the limit set by the company that reduce its profits continuously. Business process re-engineering will be carried out by proposed two alternatives using traceability technology for the warehouse management system. Standard operating procedures will also be developed and used as a guide in implementing the system. This study uses qualitative method from a semi-structured interview with the management team, observation, and focus group discussion. The data were analyzed with gap analysis, cause mapping, and analytical hierarchy process to select the proposed alternatives using QR Code and RFID. The effectiveness of services provided by the governmental institutions is determined by the quality of established law. The number of the adopted regulations is increasing but their quality is reducing. Improvement of existing legislation is a time-consuming and difficult task. We propose to apply techniques of business process modelling and reengineering to improve the quality of law in the course of law-making. The main contribution of the article is a method based on the application of the Business Process Model and Notation (BPMN) to design processes, introduced by the legal acts. Due to the application of this method, processes regulated by legislations could be failure-free and effective. This method permits one to indicate how proposed amendments affect the regulated processes. The method was practically implemented and validated during the process of law-making in Poland. Purpose - The researcher investigates the extent to which knowledge sharing moderates the relationship between knowledge creation and business process re-engineering (BPR) outcomes of financial services offered by financial institutions in Uganda. Design/Methodology - The study adopted cross-sectional survey design to collect data at one point in time using self-administered questionnaire to examine the relationship between knowledge creation and business processes. The study at first used statistical package for social scientists to establish clusters among the surveyed financial services and later a model was derived using R programming software to test for knowledge creation and business process reengineering performance outcomes. Findings - The study found a significant conditional effect of knowledge sharing on knowledge creation and business process re-engineering outcomes. Implying that investment in knowledge sharing creates awareness about the financial services outcomes of financial institutions using business process reengineering to provide financial services. Originality - This study contributes to business process re-engineering literature by advancing the idea that BPR is an important economic resource that enhanced through instituting knowledge creation and sharing practices in a complex environment. Ideally, creating and sharing knowledge is one of the drivers of customer value, efficiency, and effectiveness of financial services in financial institutions. Practical Implications - Managers of financial institutions need to pay keen interest in managing business processes using relevant knowledge and transforming in new products, new processes, and new markets to boost business process re-engineering outcomes by building a strong knowledge creation system through training and development programs for senior managers. Abstract Background Discrepancies between what is transcribed and the actual interview recordings were noticed in qualitative research reports. This study aimed at the development of a new transcription software (Jiegnote), and the evaluation of its effectiveness in the optimization of the transcription process, to minimize transcription completion time, and errors in qualitative research. Methods The study was a mixed methods project implemented from September to November 2020. The qualitative aspect of the study was phenomenological in perspective whereas the quantitative consisted of a randomized controlled trial (RCT) with a parallel design. Results At the time of the study, the Jiegnote software was a working prototype. We enrolled a total of 26 participants; 14 participants had their data analyzed in the RCT part of the study, 13 participated in the in-depth interviews, and 22 in the answering of Semi Structured Questionnaires. Upon the execution of an independent t test, results showed that, there was no statistical significance between the intervention and control means. On considering the total average transcription completion time and the type of language in which an audio case was recorded, the effect size evaluation implied that the Jiegnote software had a small impact (Hedges' g = 0.413438) in reducing the total average time taken to translate and transcribe audio cases that were recorded in a local language (Luganda), and a large impact (Hedges' g = 1.190919) in reducing the total average time taken to transcribe audio cases that were recorded in a foreign language (English). On considering the total average number of transcription errors and the type of language in which an audio case is recorded, the effect size evaluation implied that the Jiegnote software had a small impact (Hedges' g = 0.213258) in reducing the total average time taken to translate and transcribe audio cases that were recorded in a local language (Luganda). This was further observed (Hedges' g = 0.039928) in the transcription of cases that were recorded in a foreign language (English). On considering the in-depth interview data outcomes, participants responded that the Jiegnote software media looping functions (algorithm) enabled them to accomplish their transcription tasks in a shorter time and with fewer errors compared to the traditional methods. Conclusion The study demonstrates utilities associated with intrapreneurship and technological innovation in an organization setting whereby, the Jiegnote technology that was developed by the researchers, had some impact on the optimization of the qualitative research value chain. This was observed through the effect size (impact) evaluations that were conducted to investigate the superiority of the Jiegnote software against the traditional transcription methods, in minimizing the average number of errors committed, and time taken to complete a transcription process.

The Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) is a system that aids in making a business process to move effectively and efficiently. Many companies are using it to make their process more systematic and efficient. It is because the system cannot just automate the processes in the company. Still, it can also make the company's processes convenient and efficient in terms of performance and output. The ERP system can also make transactions between the company, its clients, and suppliers. With the company's current process, there is a problem in the company's particular department, the Purchasing department. The problem with the current process in this department is the delay in the operation. The inefficient process in the business, the disorganized or missing documents because of the manual operation that occurred in the said department, and lastly, the methods of creating purchase requisition and purchase order to the supplier manually through phone call or email. It also resulted in a high number of lead times and slowed down the process in the said department. In this study, the researchers interviewed the owner and gathered their sample reports for them to analyze the problem deeper. Through the process, they used process map, root-cause analysis, and flow process chart. To address the company's problem in terms of their problem regarding the purchasing department, the group came up configuring an ERP system using SAP HANA. The system is composed of processes such as creating the purchase requisition, purchase order, issuing goods receipt, receiving invoice, and paying to the vendor, which is all done manually with the current process. With the said ERP system using SAP HANA, the group solved the problems in the company's purchasing department, which are the manual creation of purchase requisitions and purchase orders, disorganized documents, and ineffective business processes. As a result of the flow process chart, the proposed process reduced the lead time of the purchasing department to a total of 83 minutes compared to 245 minutes that occurred in the current process. The COVID-19 pandemic has harmed automotive vehicle sales. A lot of automotive companies have shifted their focus from sales to after-sales service, and the trend in after-sales service is starting to recover and has a big contribution to the revenue. Along with the growth of digital technology and e-commerce, automotive companies must adapt and develop new strategies to compete with their competitors and maximize their potential in after-sales service. This study aims to design business process improvements by using Business Process Reengineering (BPR) to increase the time efficiency of the after-sales service journey in one of the automotive companies in Indonesia. The method is used to design improvements to the service journey using the iGrafx software. Improvements are carried out on the whole journey of car service, starting from customer reception until service delivery and payment. Data collection regarding the car service process was collected in one of the automotive companies in Indonesia. The method consists of three steps namely mapping as-is process, analyzing as-is process, and modelling to-be process. The results of this study obtained an improvement scenario of a to-be process with the highest reduction in time. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
