This study aims to measure the economic benefits of business mediation in Brazil compared to lawsuits, investigating whether choosing mediation to resolve a business conflict is more economically advantageous than filing a lawsuit in the judiciary and whether opting for extrajudicial mediation to settle a business dispute is more economically advantageous than reaching an agreement in judicial mediation. The research, conducted in the Southeast region of Brazil after the implementation of the Brazilian Code of Civil Procedure in 2016, employed quantitative methods, analyzing 397 judicial processes. The results indicated that extrajudicial mediation is the most cost-effective option, while the judicial lawsuit is the most costly. The relevance of the issue presented in the paper stems from the trends in current economic development. They pose multiple challenges to researchers when it comes to methods for assessing and analyzing competitiveness of business organizations. The aim of this paper is to present an approach to researching business organization's competitiveness based on highly versatile and adaptive competitiveness evaluation technology. Part of the methods on which the said approach is based are analysis, summary, logical approach, and includes quantitative assessment of indicators used to make comparisons with competitors. The results of the implementation of this approach by researches are associated with a more precise diagnosis of the causes leading to one level of business organizations' competitiveness or another. A conclusion can be drawn that the accuracy and effectiveness of any research depends on the preparation of a proper set of methods. This study primarily aimed to accomplished four basic objectives, which are: determine the company profiles of tourism businesses at selected towns in Batangas; evaluate the level of effectiveness of the operating management practices of tourism companies in terms of the human resource, marketing and financial management; examine the level of their financial performance in terms of sales growth and profitability; and, find the significant correlation in the respondent's assessment on the effectiveness of the operational management practices and financial performance of the tourism companies. This study employed the descriptive survey research method that engaged 270 proprietors and managers of different tourism enterprises across the province of Batangas. Convenient sampling technique was used and Statistical Packages for Social Sciences (SPSS) to process the data. The researcher utilized Frequency and Percentage Distribution, Weighted Mean and Pearson Correlation Coefficient. The study revealed that most tourism businesses in selected towns in Batangas belong to Sun and Beach Tourism. Majority are sole proprietorship, with less than three million capitalizations. Years in business operation are mostly 1 to 5 years, with more than 20 employees. Findings illustrate that the majority of tourism businesses of Batangas gave more importance on certain aspects of operational management over the others. For financial management, financial control has been prioritized over financial planning. Marketing management is assessed as one of the most essential aspects of business operation. Company competitiveness is one of the favorite fields of study of scientists, managers and analysts alike. The progress in terms of theory and methodology is undeniable, yet this is hardly the case with the practical application of the approaches and methodology for evaluation of the competitiveness of business organizations which have been proposed in the theory. The purpose of this article is to propose an approach for evaluation and analysis of the competitiveness of business organizations. The proposition is that the presented approach can be used by practitioners. The proposed approach is based on evaluating companies' competitiveness, benchmarking (against competitors and previous years) and identifying reserves. The value of the competitiveness indicator shows not only the business results of the business organization, but also its place among its other market competitors. At the same time this value allows individual business organizations to assess their ability to benefit from the current impact of the factors of the environment. The purpose of this article is to identify the investment activity of industrial companies and the dynamics of foreign direct investment in a particular region of the country, to trace their dynamics in comparison with the general economic development of the region and to identify as a result the stimulating and/or limiting factors influencing on domestic and foreign investment. Methods such as literature review, observation, comparison, expert review, etc. are used to accomplish the set tasks and to achieve the set main goal. To achieve this goal, the following specific tasks are solved: (1) Defining theoretical and methodological aspects of investments; (2) A parallel between growth and development at both firm and regional levels has been drawn; (3) Identification of foreign investments in the region for a specified period of time; (4) Comparative analysis between the investment activity and the rate of change of the economic development of the region; Conclusions are presented about the main advantages and the respective limitations of the type of investments and differences in regional development. Introduction: Economic globalization, the expansion of markets, the hegemonic struggle between major economies and the need to be more competitive have turned innovation into a vital factor and core of the strategies of companies, regions and countries to achieve a value added and guarantee survival and competitiveness in increasingly demanding and global markets. The assimilation and generation of innovation is one of the factors that contribute to promoting changes in organizations. Objective: Design an Innovation Management Model that contributes to improving the process and obtaining superior results in the organization. Methods: A diagnosis of the innovation activity was made. 20 managers and 14 specialists were surveyed in the LABIOFAM Business Group. An Integrated Innovation Guide was applied. Results: The diagnosis made allowed to identify the main strengths and weaknesses of the innovation process and based on this result, the eight variables of the proposed model were determined: Effectiveness of the Strategy (EE), Resource Management (GR), Surveillance of the Environment (VE), Research and Development (R & D), Product Design (DP), Operational Efficiency (EO), Commercial Efficiency (EC) and Measurement of Results (MR). Conclusions: The Innovation Management Model that is proposed is adjusted to the needs and requirements of this form of business organization that will allow the improvement of the innovation process, through the actions that must be undertaken to guarantee the sustainable development of the organization. Since 2010 the decoupling of CAP aids was extended to the tobacco sector. Several studies demonstrated that tobacco is not profitable without EU aids and the survival of the sector is possible only if farmers undertake a strategy of costs decrease, if market price increases or farmers are able to enhance product quality. The present work analyzes how technical training can affect the economic performance of tobacco growers. The analysis summarizes the results of a project implemented within RDP 2007-2014 of the Campania Region and focuses on Kentucky tobacco, used in Sigaro Toscano®, and on the implementation of leaves selection and setting up at farm level. For no less than 300 years, c. 1550–1860 the Dutch way of fishing was the envy of neighbours in the North Sea area and looked upon as the undisputed best practice. However, it turned out that the perception of the Dutch Golden Age of fishing outlived the reality by at least 150 years. This paper explores the consequences of the image of Dutch dominance, as seen through 41 different attempts to build a fleet and run fishing operations similar to the Dutch. Most of them were short-lived, and some never made it to the fishing grounds before going bankrupt. When reviewed one by one, they all have unique reasons for lacklustre performances. Privateering, warfare, bankruptcy, and bad fishing luck are all valid explanations at the level of politics and short-term events. However, when looked upon in connection to each other, some recurrent features of more-or-less sound policies appear, as well as structural, social, and natural conditions for varying degrees of success and failure. Two waves of imitation emerge from this comparison. In the mid-1600s and then again during the 1760s–1770s there was a particularly strong Europe-wide interest in emulating Dutch fisheries. The aim of this article is to describe and interpret history on the international trend in the management and improvement of business processes. In the methodology review and analysis published online access, is considered to identify those aspects of interest that influence the performance of companies and their processes. China now grows about 1.5 million hectares of sugarcane and is the third largest sugar producer in the world. Almost all of that cane is still harvested by hand belabor in countryside areas has become more expensive and difficult to recruit. While the sugar mills prefer to crush the cleaner cane that manual harvesting delivers, some mills in areas where mechanical harvesting capacity has increased in recent years, have imposed restrictions on the quantity of machine cut cane that can be delivered each day. In the longer term, it is inevitable that the mills will have to accept a greater proportion of machine harvested cane. It is therefore important that an institutional structure and operating rules to control the harvesting sector be developed as the transformation from manual to mechanized harvesting takes place in China to achieve the best possible outcome for the sugar industry. Australia was the pioneering country that developed mechanized sugarcane harvesting but most of the organizational arrangements for mechanical harvesting of sugarcane were adapted from the manual cutting system that preceded mechanization. The cane payment system in Australia partly acknowledges the respective capital shares involved in the independent farms supplying cane and the mills which process it, and attempts to share revenue from sugar sales roughly in proportion to their respective historical capital investments. When mechanical cane harvesting was introduced into the Australian industry, there was no attempt to recognize the capital investment of harvester operators as part of the whole supply chain. They have always been paid on a contract basis ($x per ton of cane harvested) which does not align the incentives for the harvester operator with the rest of the industry. The paper describes the Australian way of organizing cane harvesting and some international systems of cane payment and so that each farmer shares equitably in the proceeds of sugar sales. These payment systems all exclude harvester operators from taking a share of industry revenue. Some suggestions that might help the Chinese industry avoid similar problems are discussed. From the point of view of one social organization a rational choice about an alternative for an action in a definite security environment is made on the basis of defining optimum of possible numbers of alternatives among which a choice is being fulfilled towards putting into practice a system of criteria in order to compare options of alternatives. Engagement markers are crucial interpersonal tools to interact with readers and draw support for the writer's positions. However, little is known about the effect of the writer's cultural background and language, as well as the context of publication, on the way authors use these strategies. The present study provides a quantitative and contrastive analysis based on a corpus consisting of business management articles written in different cultures and languages ( Anglophone/ English vs. Spanish) and aimed at different contexts of publication (local vs. international). The results obtained indicate that, although context of publication and national culture are powerful factors regulating the use of these strategies, other aspects such as L1 transfer and L2 proficiency may have some bearing on the use of these resources. In this paper I examine the political influence of business in the context of environmental politics by comparing the explanatory role of three distinct sources of business power: political organization, a structurally privileged position in politics, and informational advantages. Using data on fifteen OECD countries between 1981 and 1999, the analysis shows that business organizational strength and information asymmetry in government-business relations are important determinants of observed differences in air pollution across countries and over time. By contrast, there is no support for the claim that the structural dominance of business constrains political efforts to improve air quality. By analyzing the role of asymmetric information and systems of interest intermediation simultaneously, the paper contributes to our understanding of the causal mechanisms that link corporatism to environmental performance. Based on the literature about the theme, this essay aims to propose a criterion that defines if the organization accomplishes actions socially responsible or efforts in corporate social marketing. The support offered to a social cause is characterized as an action socially responsible. Nevertheless, starting from the moment in which the organization makes public, through communications, the association of its brand to the cause, seeking competitive advantage, it advances beyond the sphere of the social responsibility to penetrate into a wider domain: the one of the corporate social marketing. Abstract: The focus of this article is on legal-economic institutions that organized early-modern Eurasian trade. It identifies two such institutions that had divergent dispersion patterns, the corporation and the commenda. The corporation ended up as a uniquely European institution that did not migrate until the era of European colonization. The commenda that originated in Arabia migrated all the way to Western Europe and to China. The article explains their divergent dispersion based on differences in their institutional and geographical environments and on dynamic factors, claiming that institutional analysis errs when it ignores migration of institutions and providing building blocks for the modeling of institutional migration. This report is oriented towards the comprehension of the processes that took place throughout the performance of the Zulia Construction Chamber during its fifty years of existence, its insertion in the country's historical context, and the important role of this social organization in the development of the Region. Along with the analysis of primary sources, oral testimony was used as a complementary instrument for the reconstruction of the process. There was an evidence in the analysis of the institution's capability to redirect and adapt its goals, taking into consideration the politic-economic situation in the country; as well as its intention of guarding the union workers and the regional construction activity's interests. Businesses reshape the territorial configuration of economic activity by creating new forms of organization as part of the innovation process. Focusing on the case of Dell Computer, this article builds an argument about the geographic development of economies that is structured around four elements: (1) the firm, (2) the innovation process occurring within the firm, (3) the business organization of the firm, and (4) the territory in which the firm operates and extracts profit. In tracing this route from the enterprise to territory, this article draws upon the notion of "communications revolutions" as a catalyst for the innovative impulse of firms. In adapting to communications revolutions, firms, such as Dell, emerge as innovators by learning to recalibrate the time increments that are expended during the steps of making and marketing products, thereby shifting competition from the product to the processes of capitalist circulation. This recalibration of time results in the creation of process-driven routines for making profit and a transformation in the organizational arrangements through which firms implement such routines. As firms reinvent forms of organization to implement these time-based innovative routines, they alter the linkages between adjacent steps in their profit-making activity. By reorganizing these linkages and changing the nature of business organization, innovative firms reconfigure the territory in which they operate and accumulate. This reconfiguration of territory, however, is not the mechanical result of efficiency criteria. Firms use power over other firms to redeploy the location of activity in their production networks in an effort to achieve time economies and innovative efficiencies. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The dominant role of multinational corporations has strongly influenced the geography of the petrochemical industry in the United Kingdom. Certain oil companies have encouraged development of integrated oil refinery/petrochemical complexes. Despite similar motivations, these companies have adopted different approaches in their moves from oil refining into petrochemical manufacture. These differences have affected position of the complexes, both functionally and geographically, at local, national, and international scales, within the corporate systems to which they belong. The aim of this research is to advance an understanding of how design in the fashion industry can be successfully managed to contribute to environmental sustainability. Its objectives are to investigate how fashion businesses use environmentally sustainable strategies and how designers contribute to the development of sustainable products. The article reviews the literature of the sustainability of fashion through the circular economy and design management. The research was conducted through semi-structured interviews and a quantitative survey of designers in the UK. A framework based on the level of business engagement in sustainability was used to structure the thematic analysis of the findings. The research demonstrates the relatively low influence of designers on sustainable fashion strategy and their engagement at a tactical organizational level.
