La inmunoterapia ha demostrado su gran potencial en el tratamiento del cáncer, una de las principales causas de muerte a nivel mundial, ya que incrementa la respuesta del sistema inmune del paciente que juega un papel protagonista en la defensa, progresión y pronóstico tumoral. La terapia celular adoptiva (TCA) ha sido una de las inmunoterapias más investigadas en los últimos años; ésta mejora el reconocimiento de antígenos tumorales y aprovecha los mecanismos efectores de las células inmunitarias propias del individuo. Ha manifestado gran utilidad en el manejo de diferentes tipos de neoplasias, logrando incluso la completa regresión tumoral. Sigue en investigación y desarrollo para aumentar su efectividad, especificidad y seguridad; ya que no está exenta de limitaciones y efectos adversos. Actualmente, en España se dispone únicamente de dos medicamentos aprobados por las agencias reguladoras que se basan en esta técnica, indicados en casos refractarios a otros tipos de tratamiento. En la presente revisión bibliográfica se exponen los aspectos más importantes respecto a la inmunidad antitumoral y su relación con la inmunoterapia; así como el fundamento, las diferentes estrategias y los desafíos a solventar de la TCA, Cancer is one of the leading causes of death worldwide, and immunotherapy has proven to have great potential in its treatment as it increases the patient's immune system response, thus playing a key role in tumour defence, progression and prognosis. Adoptive cell therapy (ACT) has been one of the most investigated immunotherapies in the recent years; it enhances the recognition of tumour antigens and harnesses the effector mechanisms of the body’s own immune cells. It has been proven to be very useful in the management of different types of malignancies, achieving complete tumour regression in some cases. However, ACT is currently still under research and development to increase its effectiveness, specificity and safety, as it is not free of limitations and adverse side effects. Currently there are only two drugs approved by the Spanish regulatory agencies that are based on this technique which are indicated in cases refractory to other types of treatment. Avian reovirus non-structural protein muNS is partially cleaved in infected chicken embryo fibroblast cells to produce a 55-kDa carboxyterminal protein, termed muNSC, and a 17-kDa aminoterminal polypeptide, designated muNSN. In this study we demonstrate that muNS processing is catalyzed by a caspase 3-like protease activated during the course of avian reovirus infection. The cleavage site was mapped by site directed mutagenesis between residues Asp-154 and Ala-155 of the muNS sequence. Although muNS and muNSC, but not muNSN, are able to form inclusions when expressed individually in transfected cells, only muNS is able to recruit specific ARV proteins to these structures. Furthermore, muNSC associates with ARV factories more weakly than muNS, sigmaNS and lambdaA. Finally, the inhibition of caspase activity in ARV-infected cells does not diminish ARV gene expression and replication, but drastically reduces muNS processing and the release and dissemination of progeny viral particles

En el marco del Espacio Europeo de Educación Superior, e incluida entre las competencias transversales que los alumnos deberían poseer al terminar sus estudios de grado, la formación en competencias informacionales (CI) tiene como principal objetivo la adquisición de competencias y habilidades en el acceso y uso de la información. La incorporación de un curso de CI online en colaboración con la Biblioteca Universitaria como parte de la programación docente de una asignatura de 1er. curso favorece el seguimiento por parte de los alumnos, obteniéndose unos porcentajes muy elevados de participación y aprobados, así como una mejora sustancial en la presentación de los trabajos y de la bibliografía

Background Chronic work-related stress is an independent risk factor for cardiometabolic diseases and associated mortality, particularly when compounded by a sedentary work environment. The purpose of this study was to determine if an office worksite-based hatha yoga program could improve physiological stress, evaluated via heart rate variability (HRV), and associated health-related outcomes in a cohort of office workers. Methods Thirty-seven adults employed in university-based office positions were randomized upon the completion of baseline testing to an experimental or control group. The experimental group completed a 10-week yoga program prescribed three sessions per week during lunch hour (50 min per session). An experienced instructor led the sessions, which emphasized asanas (postures) and vinyasa (exercises). The primary outcome was the high frequency (HF) power component of HRV. Secondary outcomes included additional HRV parameters, musculoskeletal fitness (i.e. push-up, side-bridge, and sit & reach tests) and psychological indices (i.e. state and trait anxiety, quality of life and job satisfaction). Results All measures of HRV failed to change in the experimental group versus the control group, except that the experimental group significantly increased LF:HF (p = 0.04) and reduced pNN50 (p = 0.04) versus control, contrary to our hypotheses. Flexibility, evaluated via sit & reach test increased in the experimental group versus the control group (p < 0.001). No other adaptations were noted. Post hoc analysis comparing participants who completed ≥70% of yoga sessions (n = 11) to control (n = 19) yielded the same findings, except that the high adherers also reduced state anxiety (p = 0.02) and RMSSD (p = 0.05), and tended to improve the push-up test (p = 0.07) versus control.
