The reactions of acrylonitrile (AN) with 'L(sub 2)PdMe(super +)' species were investigated. The results show that most important obstacles to insertion polymerization or copolymerization of AN using L(sub 2)PdR(super +) catalysts are the tendency of L(sub 2)Pd{CH(CH)CH(sub 2)R}(substrate)(super +) species.

Background: Pancreatic cancer often goes undiagnosed until late stage disease due in part to suboptimal early detection. Our goal was to develop a Syndecan-1 tagged liposome containing fluorescent dye as an improved contrast agent for detection of pancreatic adenocarcinoma in vivo using multispectral optoacoustic tomography. Results: The diagnostic capabilities and specificity to pancreatic adenocarcinoma of Syndecan-1 targeted liposomes were evaluated both in vitro and in vivo. Immunocytochemistry showed that liposomes preferentially bound to and released their contents into cells expressing high levels of insulin-like growth factor 1 receptor. We determined that the contents of the liposome were released into the cell as noted by the change in propidium iodide fluorescence from green to red based upon nucleic acid binding. In an orthotopic mouse model, the liposomes preferentially targeted the pancreatic tumor with little off-target binding in the liver and spleen. Peak accumulation of the liposomes in the tumor occurred at 8 h post-injection. Multispectral optoacoustic tomographic imaging was able to provide high-resolution 3D images of the tumor and liposome location. Ex vivo analysis showed that non-targeted liposomes accumulated in the liver, suggesting that specificity of the liposomes for pancreatic adenocarcinoma was due to the presence of the Syndecan-1 ligand. Conclusions: This study demonstrated that Syndecan-1 liposomes were able to release cargo into IGF1-R expressing tumor cells. The Syndecan-1 liposomes demonstrated tumor specificity in orthotopic pancreatic cancer as observed using multispectral optoacoustic tomography with reduced kidney and liver uptake. By targeting the liposome with Syndecan-1, this nanovehicle has potential as a targeted theranostic nanoparticle for both drug and contrast agent delivery to pancreatic tumors. Self-report biases can affect the results of survey-based sex research, and techniques that minimize their effects are often cumbersome. In this study, 91 undergraduates were asked to submit a narrative of their favourite sexual fantasy in response either to standard instructions or on behalf of their "hidden observer" (HO), the ostensible part of them that knows their deepest secrets and will reveal them if questioned directly (Altemeyer, 1996, Hilgard, 1973). Compared to standard instructions, HO instructions yielded fewer denials, refusals, and/or apologies for the length or content of disclosed fantasies, which were in turn more erotically detailed and explicit. The findings suggest that the HO technique's potential as a user-friendly means of minimizing self- censoring in reports of sexual experiences, attitudes, and behaviours warrants further exploration. Based on Amoebic Self Theory, the authors propose that the salience of different threats to the self affects the extent to which an intimate relationship partner is pushed away (excluded) or pulled closer (included). When social threat is salient among persons in relationships, it is hypothesized that partners will attempt to defuse the resulting sense of interpersonal vulnerability: offending partners may be pushed away, whereas offenders themselves may draw closer When spatial-symbolic threat is salient and the relationship`s capacity to function as an identity marker is jeopardized, it is hypothesized that the partner—regardless of his or her role—will be pulled closer to maintain the perception that the relationship is secure. According to amoebic self theory, the boundary defining the self encompasses 3 levels of self- representation-bodily, social and spatial-symbolic. Study 1 related a newly developed measure of individual differences in sensitivity to boundary threat across these 3 domains to values and disgust sensitivity. Four subsequent studies focused on spatial-symbolic threat sensitivity and related it to right-wing authoritarianism, aversive reactions to unfamiliar out-groups, and revulsion to vermin. A final experiment illustrates how a salient spatial-symbolic threat (dust mites) can elicit reactions toward out-groups that closely parallel mortality salience effects observed in research inspired by terror management theory, even though dust mites do not elicit mortality concerns. The title compound, C15H18NO3PS·C6H6, is a rare example of a crystallographically characterized exocyclic phosphiniminium-arene-sulfonate zwitterion, which crystallises as its benzene solvate. The crystal structure shows that the N atom is protonated and that the iminium H atom forms both intra- and inter-molecular hydrogen bonds to the single-bonded sulfonate O atom in an R 2 (2)(4) graph-set motif. The dihedral angle between the aromatic rings in the main molecule is 89.49 (8)°.
