Abstract

The reaction of the dichloride rac-(ebthi)Hf[Cl.sub.2] [ebthi = 1,2-ethylene,1,1E-bis([[eta].sup.5]-tetrahydroindenyl) with lithium in the presence of bis(trimethylsilyl)acetylene has produced the hafnacyclopropene rac-(ebthi)Hf([[eta].sup.2]-[Me.sub.3]Si[C.sub.2]Si[Me.sub.3]) (1-Hf). The reaction behavior of the alkyne complexes 1-M is examined by using the NMR experiments and comparing the results with ultraviolet/visible spectroscopy, indicating the existence of a bis-[pi]-complex prior to the formation of the hafnacyclopentene 2-Hf.

21. Photochemical Synthesis of Five-Membered Zirconacyclocumulene Complex and Its Reactions with Ketones

Abstract

Upon UV irradiation of zirconocene acetylides, five-membered zirconacyclocumulenes are formed. Subsequent photoexcitation or thermal activation of the mixture of tert-butyl-substituted complex with ketones leads to their mono- and/or diinsertion with the formation of zirconadihydrofuran and/or nine-membered dioxazirconacyclocumulene complexes, containing the [3]cumulene group in the ring. A combination of photochemical and thermal exposure enables sequential reactions of the tert-butyl-substituted complex with two different ketones.

Abstract

The crystal structure of the title zwitterionic zirconocene complex containing a furan­one unit, [AlZr(C10H15)2(C4H9)3(C9H18O2Si2)], is reported. On reacting a zircona­furan­one with two equivalents of HAl(i-Bu)2, disproportionation of the Lewis acid results in the formation of a triiso­butyl­aluminium fragment, Al(i-Bu)3, which coordinates to the exocyclic carbonyl O atom of the zircona­furan­one ring. Single-crystal X-ray diffraction reveals that the zircona­furan­one ring remains intact with coordination of the aluminium to the exocyclic O atom. One of the i-butyl groups is disordered over two sets of sites, with an occupancy ratio of 0.731 (3):0.269 (3). [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Abstract

The chemistry of organoelement compounds is now one of the most rapidly developing fields of research, regarding both fundamental science and solution of applied problems. This review covers a variety of classes of organoelement compounds, ranging from molecules with highly labile carbon-element bonds to compounds with stable bonds that form the basis of novel structural materials and demonstrates their role in scientific research and industrial production. The use of Grignard reagents in modern organic synthesis and application of catalytic cyclomagnesiation and cycloalumination reactions for the preparation of difficult-to-access metallacycles are considered. The electron transfer processes in redox-active derivatives of Group 14 elements and the role of radical ions in these processes are discussed. Considerable attention is paid to organometallic compounds, first of all, as catalysts; the dynamic nature of catalysis with these compounds is noted. Unusual strained metallacycles of high thermal stability, zirconacyclocumulenes, which also exhibit catalytic activity, are described. Complexes with redox-active ligands that substantially affect the reactivity of the metal centre and directly participate in reactions with various substrates as well as organometallic compounds of lanthanides are considered. Modern environmentally benign methods for the synthesis of organosilicon compounds and production of unique materials based on them are discussed. Particular Sections are devoted to organophosphorus compounds, including those exhibiting therapeutic properties and possessing unusual optical characteristics, and organic chalcogen compounds, which find use as ligands and biologically active molecules.The bibliography includes 1045 references.

Abstract

Titanocene reacts with alkynylsilanes that carry Si-H groups such as RC-triple bond-CSiMe2H to produce Cp2Ti(eta-squared-RC2-SiMe2H) (R = t-Bu, Ph, SiMe2H) complex in which Si and H atoms interact with Ti. The strong Si-H-Ti interactions in these transition metal trans-eta2-alkyne complexes occur at low temperature. The high J(sub SiH) coupling constant of 93 Hz shows that there is no total transfer of H to Ti and the Si-H bond is not fully cleaved. The X-ray crystal structure data and the spectral properties of these complexes are discussed.
