Researchers have been conducted in the Timis River, which springs from the Semenic Mountains, in the western part of Romania. On its course on Romania's territory were established 6 sampling stations (Accumulation Three waters-Feneşti Confluence, Teregova, Lugoj-CFR Bridge, Lugoj-Timişana Confluence, Şag and Grăniceri) where analyzes were made of the chemical composition of the water. Analysis of the results showed an increase from upstream to downstream of 5 days-biochemical oxygen demand (B.O.D.5) (from 1.75 to 3.66 mg/l), also the accumulation of nitrates (from 1.53 to 3.08 mg/l), nitrites (from 0.01 to 0.10 mg/l), chloride (from 2.50 to 8.51 mg/l) and water hardness (from 1.12 to 6.02 dH°). Researchers have been conducted on the Timis River, during which 6 fishing stations were established where 6 determinations of the chemical composition of water were made and the existing fish populations were evaluated. In the water of Timis River, from springs to the mouth, increased the 5 days-biochemical oxygen demand (BOD5 from 1.80 to 3.58 mg O2/l), also the accumulation of nitrates (from 1.82 to 2.77 mg/l), nitrites accumulation (from 0.015 to 0.045 mg/l), chlorides (from 2.50 to 8.51 mg/l) and hardness (from 1.27 to 5.52 dH°). In the Timiș river 36 fish species have been identified, which proves a good ecological status. Depending on the physic-chemical properties of the water, salmonids fish population was spread only in the mountain area, and cyprinids in hills and low land area. A large distribution was expressed in Barbel, Chub, Chased the Umber and Spirlin, which were found between the Teregova fishing station (mountain area), Lugoj stations (hilly area) and stations from Sag and Graniceri (lowlands area). Essential oils obtained from medicinal and aromatic plants, due to their bioactive principles, represent an important pharmaceutical source for human and animals. The objective of this paperwork was to determine the effect of the addition in supplementary feeding of bee colonies of oregano and basil essential oils. The bee colonies fed, during spring, on sugar syrup and essential oils presented a better development, recording a number of bee brood cells that was bigger than in the control variant. At the same time, we observed a significant reduction in the total number of germs within the small intestine in the case of supplementation with these essential oils, correlated with the improvement of health status of bee colonies. The aim of this paper was to analyze, within a group of 21 females from Romanian Mioritic Shepherd Dog breed, 13 characters of genetically improved, characters stipulated in „Selection sheet and body measurements for Romanian shepherds”. The animals were registered with the Romanian Mioritic Association Club from Romania. Romanian Mioritic Shepherd Dog, was selected from a natural population breed in Carpathian Mountains. Following the analysis for the mean value and dispersion indices for those 13 body measurement was realized a better knowledge of the genetic structure of the population for these characters and was created the possibility of estimating sexual dimorphism. Also, this paper highlighted the following reports of the characters analyzed at the males taken in the study: the ratio between the average of length and width skull was 1.00:1.02 the ratio between the average of length skull and the average of length muzzle was 1.36:1.00 and between average of the width of skull and the muzzle was 1.75:1.00. By Comparing between them length, width and depth of muzzle, resulted a ratio of 1.25:1.00:1.14. This work presents the results of hibernation of bee colonies maintained in multi-storied beehives endowed with anti-varroa ground, made of wood and polystyrene Dadant. The experiments were carried out Banat's University of Agricultural Sciences and Veterinary Medicine "King Michael the I st" from Timişoara, Romania, between the 1 st of November 2016 and 1 st of March 2017. The biological material was represented by 20 Apis mellifera carpatica bee colonies, divided in two experimental variants, 10 colonies/batch, with similar power and same-age queens. During the experiment, we observed the bee amount at the start of hibernation; the bee amount at the end of hibernation; the evolution of feed intake and losses caused by mortality. At the end of the experiment, we determined a bigger bee amount in the polystyrene Dadant beehives, significantly lower losses caused by mortality from a statistical point of view (p<0.001) and lower feed intake with 12.04% compared with the bee families maintained in the wooden multi-storied beehives. In order to carry out the experiment, we made 5 hybrid rabbit groups (each one consisted of 5 individuals), homogenous in terms of age and body development, bred in cages of wire gauze. The control group was offered simple drinking water, and the other groups were offered drinking water supplemented with extracts of horseradish, dog-rose, French tamarisk and grape seeds. In each cage, we placed a stainless steel feeder for the administration of granulated forage and a plastic water supplier (300 ml capacity). During the experiment, we determined the granulated forage intake (150 g/individual/day) and the weekly body mass (between 35-105 days). At the end of the experiment, the biggest mean body mass was observed in the young rabbits that used to drink water with horseradish extract (3172±377 g), followed by those with French tamarisk (3046±162 g), dog-rose (2949±366 g) and finally by the rabbits that drank grape extract (2888±250 g). Along the 10 experimental weeks, the control group recorded significant differences (p<0.05) and distinctly significant (p<0.01) inferior to the experimental groups which were offered extracts of dog-rose, French tamarisk, horseradish and grapes. At the end of the experimental period (105 days), the entire group of young rabbits studied was slaughtered. Successive to this, we determined the following indices: mean live body weight at the end of the experimental period, mean carcass weight, mean gain at slaughtering, mean mass of internal edible organs (liver, heart, lungs and kidneys) and the proportion of internal organs in carcass mass, in hybrid young rabbit. According to the analyses of differences between the control rabbit group and the group with French tamarisk, the group with horseradish and the one with grapes, we observed significant differences (p<0.05) in terms of live body weight and body after killing (after bleeding and skinning), skin mass and internal organs mass (liver, heart, lungs and kidneys). During the comparison of the control group with the group with horseradish, in terms of body mass after skinning, and of the control group with the group with grape seeds in terms of heart mass, the differences were insignificant (p>0.05). The biological potential of a bee family is mainly generated by the biological value of the queen. Whether we grow queens widely or just for our own apiaries, we must consider the acquisition of high-quality biological material, and also the creation of optimal feeding and caring conditions, in order to obtain high genetic value queens. Queen breeding technology starts with the setting of hoeing families, nurse families, drone-breeding families - necessary for the pairing of young queens, and also of the families which will provide the bees used to populate the nuclei where the next queens will hatch. The complex of requirements for the breeding of good, high-production queens is sometimes hard to met, under the application of artificial methods. Romanian Mioritic Shepherd Dog, was selected from a natural population breed in Carpathian Mountains. The aim of this paper was to estimate variance at 12 body measurements using 23 females from Romanian Mioritic Shepherd Dog breed. The animals were registered with the Romanian Mioritic Association Club from Romania. In order to develop a genetic improvement program at this effective of 23 females from Romanian Sheperd Dog breed, found in evidence of Romanian Mioritic Association Club from Romania, should be considered the following conclusions on variance those 12 characters studied in this paper, respectively, there is a large variance for the height at the middle back, the height at the croup, the height at the base of the tail, the width of the croup, the length of the tail, the depth of the thorax, the thorax perimeter, the height of the elbow and for the height at the withers, the body length and the height at the hocks, the variance is middle. To ease the shock of weaning, the young hybrid rabbits were held between the ages of 30 days and 37 days in a farrowing cage and than they were transferred inside growing pens (148/123 cm), where they remained until slaughter. Before slaughter, youth has undergone a finishing process. Youth received treatment with vitamins, coccidiostatics and specific vaccinations. The finishing process began when youth Hybrid reached a body mass of 1700-1900 g and consisted of removal of the ration of grain and vitamins. Youth hybrid was slaughtered to a body weight of 2500 g, weight being achieved between the ages of 107-142 days. Youth consumed between 140.86 to 663.50 g / day juicy fodder, from 806.14 to 1225.82 g / day bulky and concentrated feed. Carcasses of youth hybrid weighed between 1596.70 to 1886.40 g. Slaughter yield ranged from 50.25 to 68.67%. The average price on carcass in young hybrid rabbits, calculated at a price of 17 lei/kg carcass, ranged from 27.10 to 33.40 lei / carcass. In the experiment consisted in using 5 females hybrid which have been mated with 3 male pure-bred. Each couple was monitored for pup and mother body weight and also the consumption of succulent feed, bulky and concentrated. Both parents and offspring were kept in cages made of wood and wire mesh. Under the cages there was a tray of galvanized steel sheet for collecting manure. During the experiment, female New Zealand and the Californian Red hybrid have given birth 4 times, producing 43 cubs (cubs 10.75/birth) and 31 cubs (cubs 7.75/birth). The other 3 females gave birth only once a year. All pups survived until weaning (30 days). Weaned cubs from female New Zealand Red hybrid at time of weaning had a mean body mass of between 341.20 to 602.20 g/cubs, and those from female Californian hybrid were between 374.00 to 803.33 g/cub. At weaning, cubs from female Chinchilla Mare hybrid weighed on average 546.75 g/cub, the ones from the French hybrid female Great Silver weighed 433.00 g/cub, and those from the New Zealand Red primiparous female hybrid weighed784.00 g/weaned cubs. The study was conducted within the recirculating aquaculture system for sturgeon rearing in Herneacova village, Timis County, on a population of juvenile sterlet (Acipenser ruthenus) aged between 346-431 days. Specimens were housed in five round tanks (Ø=3 m, V=6 m3, h=100 cm) and fed with commercial extruded pellets (3 mm granulation, 48% CP, and 10% EE). Fish from each tank were individually weighed and measured once every two weeks. Bioproductive indices such body weight gain (BW), specific growth rate (SGR), and feed conversion ratio (FCR) were calculated at the end of an 85 days experimental period. Statistical analysis was performed using the SPPS IBM 22 and Minitab 16 software. Data were reported as Mean±Sx at a significant level of p<0.05. Testing differences between means was realized by ANOVA completed with post-hoc Tukey test. The results obtained indicate that the growth performance of juvenile Acipenser ruthenus seems to be similar and even better than that of other sturgeons species reared in recirculating aquaculture system. The study of the main body mass indices in the Giant German Lop breed was performed between 6.06.2014 and 10.06.2014 in a rabbitry from Dinia? town, Timi? County. The biological material was represented by 16 adult rabbit females and 10 adult males, with the average body weight of 7 kg, raised in semi-intensive system. There have been performed the following body measurements: oblique and horizontal length of the trunk, the length of thorax, the length of head, the length of ears, of neck, and of tail, the height at withers and rump, the height of thorax and stern, the width of chest, of thorax, of rump at hip and ischia, the wide width of forehead, the thoracic circumference and the circumference of shin. Giant German Lop males have registered higher values in the body size index, in the pelvic-thoracic index, and in the rump angle index compared to females from the same breed, which have registered higher values in the index of transverse body size, in the index of massiveness, in the pelvic-thoracic index, and in the cephalic index. Our research was performed on juvenile sterlets (Acipenser ruthenus), aged between 346-431 days, maintained in five round pools (Ø=3 m, V=6 m³, h-100 cm) and fed with a commercial extruded pellet (3 mm granulation, 48% CP, and 10% EE). Testing differences between means was realized by ANOVA completed with post-hoc Tukey test. Results obtained led to conclude that specimens analyzed had a good maintenance and feeding, an adequate development, a high proportion of meat, an elongated body and a straight back, and they are eligible for selection. The aim of this paper was to estimate variance at 12 body measurements using 26 males from Romanian Mioritic Shepherd Dog breed. The plasma testosterone determinations were performed on 19 silver fox males (Vulpes fulva) and 19 polar fox males (Alopex lagopus) that were coming from the farm. The concentration of testosterone was performed on prepubertal males (0-10 months), during the sexual period and the period of sexual rest. For quantitative determination of the testosterone, some systems were used like the VITROS system ECi/ECi O2, the immunological diagnostic system VITROS 3600 and the integrated system VITROS 5600. In both species, the plasma concentration was maximal at the males in the period of sexual activity (1.56±0.23 ng/ml at the polar fox and 1.46±0.23ng/ml at the silver fox) and minimal in males between the age 0-10 months (0.22±0.01 ng / ml at the polar foxes and 0.20±0.01 ng/ml at the silver foxes).The adult males that were in the sexual rest period showed low testosterone levels (0.25±0.02 ng/ml at the polar foxes and 0.22±0.02 ng/ml at the silver foxes). The histological studies of the male genital apparatus of the Chinchilla Laniger are scares and incomplete. Due to the studies done on the male genital apparatus of Chinchilla Laniger it has been determined that the seminiferous tubes are separated by large conjunctive septum; the seminiferous epithelium varies from one tissue to another, aspect that suggests different stages in the spermatogenesis process. The epididymis channel is made up of pseudo-layered epithelium, a reduced lamina propria and a delicate muscular layer. The deferent channel wall is made up of three tunics: mucous, muscular and adventitia. The muscular tunic is the most developed part and is made up of three super posed layers of even smooth muscle cell. The histological sections done on the pelvic urethra reveals the following components: mucous, vascular layer, muscular and adventitia. The transversal sections done on the free extremity of the penis reveal the presence of the foreskin made up of three layers: tegument or external, parietal or visceral. The vesicular glands (seminal) have an intestine shaped aspect and are sustained by their own ligament, richly vascularised. The transversal section reveals a tubular aspect, the wall of these tubes is made up of: mucous, muscular and adventitia. No detailed histological study of the segments of the digestive tract and of the post-diaphragmatic annex glands of Chinchilla laniger is available in the literature, to our knowledge. The study presented draws attention to the morphological characteristics of the digestive tract and their involvement in the digestive process, with important implications for the composition of formula diets. Histological study of the digestive tract and annex glands (liver and pancreas) of Chinchilla laniger shows no major differences from other mammals. The walls of the oesophagus, stomach and intestine are composed of four layers: the mucosa, sub-mucosa, muscularis mucosa and serosa (the fourth layer of the oesophagus being called the adventitia). The aim of this study was to examine the bioproductive indices of light breed avian youth fed with different trace mineral levels in diets. The experiment was conducted on 168 light breed chickens divided into three experimental groups: G1 without mineral supplementation, G2 supplementation level were at 50% then G3 which was supplemented correspondent to the intensive growing system. During the entire experimental period, respectively 1- 20 weeks, trace elements supplementation influenced significantly the body weight, in G2, which was 6% (p<0.05) higher compared to G1, and 2.5% (p>0.05) compared G3. Due to scarce bibliographic information on the diversity of crayfish species and habitats, research must be carried out on crayfish body measurements (Astacus fluviatilis). Fykes were used for catching the crayfish and fresh pork liver was used as bait. Body measurements were carried out on 23 crayfish (17 males and 6 females). Also, 18 crayfish juveniles have been captured from lake Danila and Moravita stream. The captured crayfish males in Moravita stream had an average body length of 8.88±0.46 cm and a body mass of 28.53±4.33 g. The captured crayfish females in Moravita stream had an average body length of 7.13±0.11 cm and a body mass of 11.17±0.44 g. The captured crayfish males in lake Danila had an average body length of 10.60±0.52 cm and a body mass of 48.38±8.68 g. The crayfish males in Moravita stream showed an average profile index of 4.27, a flesh index of 37.52% and a fattening index of 3.77%. The crayfish females in Moravita stream showed an average profile index of 4.67, a flesh index of 23.30% and a fattening index of 3.07%. The crayfish males in lake Danila showed an average profile index of 4.34, a flesh index of 21.33 and a fattening index of 3.87%. Bee crisis is threatening global food security, given the fact that one third of global agricultural production relies on pollination, especially that of honey bees. Despite their importance for human being, honey bees die with alarming speed. In recent years, in Europe and America, due to pollution, pesticides and neglect there was registered an unprecedented rate of disappearance of honey bees. Einstein's theory, the fact that once the bees cease to exist, humanity has only four years to extinction, seems now truer than ever. Thus, the issue has gained a tone of maximum urgency; the bee crisis can entirely shatter the world food security, already affected by the economic crisis. There are plenty of factors that could cause honey bee population decline: disease, parasites, climatic factors (high temperature, drought) or decrease in the diversity of honey flora. It may sometimes happen that the beekeeper himself causes the poisoning of his honey bees, use inappropriate products which should protect the honey bees. It is therefore possible to imagine a multi-factorial explanation of problems encountered by honey bees and to underestimate the key role of pesticides. Non additive genetic component that is at the base of a quantitative character has no predictability; this is the reason for which the present paper is proposing to appreciate the special combinative capacity for mean efficiency at slaughter, in Timis county breeders New Zealand White, Large Chinchilla and Californian. The statistic analyze of the data obtained, shows a good special combinative capacity for this character, reason for which the breeding scheme is recommended for producing individuals destined for slaughterhouses. This research has been conducted to highlight the melliferous capacity of some autumn rape varieties. Our research is important, for it completes previous observations in this area; they are original due to the research method and are also important to beekeepers because they represent new information on rape hybrids on the market. Research was conducted in 2012 in the localities Comloşul Mare, Comloşul Mic and Lovrin, three localities in Timiş County. The study determined the production growth by the honey bee families in the flowering period of the autumn rape. The purpose of this research was to highlight the nectarious secretion of some rape varieties. Rape varieties were: cultivar Adriana, hybrid Mercure and hybrid Exagone. Considering the productions made by the honey bee families in the three localities significant differences were observed between data values collected both within the same variants (locality) and between the three variants studied. The rape cultivar, in the case of our research, in the climate of the year 2012, has shown a better melliferous capacity than the hybrids and in the end the control scales reached an approximate growth of 23 kilograms. The aim of this paper was to measure the main aspects that characterize the feeding and rumination behavior of three months old calves during the summer season when daily temperatures were normal (daily peak of +30°C) and during days with very high temperatures (daily peak +41°C). During the experiments the following feeding and rumination behavior aspects were determined: number of feeding periods, the length of feeding periods, number of ruminating periods and length of rumination periods. Results showed that calves spent feeding, on average 383.7 minutes per day during 13.1 feeding periods with an average length of 29.5 minutes when the when the daily temperatures were normal and 341.7 minutes per day during 12.9 feeding periods with an average length of 26.7 minutes when the daily temperatures were very high. Calves ruminated on average 396.1 minutes per day during 15.6 rumination periods with an average length of 25.5 minutes during the summer season when temperatures were normal (daily peak of +30°C). Calves ruminated on average 331.3 minutes per day during 13.1 rumination periods with an average length of 25.5 minutes during the summer season when temperatures were very high (daily peak of +41°C). This paper presents the effects of acidifying substances (lactic acid or acetic acid), Enterobiotics products (Lactobacillus acidophilus LA-14 and Bifidobacterium lactis BI-04) and Enterolactis Plus (Lactobacillus casei) on the wax glands of worker bees. The research was conducted in Timis County, Romania, between March 25 and April 20, 2011, on 110 colonies of bees (Apis mellifera carpatica), allocated to 11 experimental treatment groups. Colonies in the experimental groups were given three weekly feeds of sugar syrup supplemented with acidifying substances (lactic acid or cider vinegar) and/or probiotic products (Enterobiotics or Enterolactis Plus). Three weeks after the administration of the experimental diets, 10 worker bees from each treatment group were sampled for histological examination of their wax glands. Gland development was shown to be influenced by administration of prebiotic and/or probiotic supplements. Wax gland cell sizes ranged from 25.1 microns for the control group to between 27.8 and 31.8 microns in the group fed with acidifying substances and between 26.9 and 29.2 microns in bees fed with probiotic products. Bees supplemented with both lactic acid and probiotic product (group LE9 and LE10) showed mean wax cell sizes of 31.8 microns. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Agricultural wastes represent a large unexploited energy potential that could be converted into biogas by anaerobic digestion. In the present study there has been analysed the way in which agricultural wastes are converted into biogas by using as inoculum cattle manure as compared with activated sludge. To carry out this experiment on small scale there have been designed 5 batch bottles. For the batch process all substrate was put into the bottles at start. The biogas process was initiated after closing the bottles, and the biogas was collected during the process until the biogas production ended. During the 33 days of experiment the batch bottles were held at constant temperature (37°C) in a water bath. The biomass used in the experiment was wheat straw and corn stalks. Before being used in the experiment the biomass was milled using a kitchen mixer. After that the biomass was subjected to a combination of thermal and chemical pretreatments. The data obtained, statistic presented prove a good special combinative capacity for this character, reason for which the crossing scheme is recommended for producing meat individuals destined for slaughterhouses. Non additive genetic component that is the base of a quantitative character has no predictability, this is the reason for which the present paper is proposing to appreciate the special combinatory capacity for corporal mass of the descendants at birth in a specific crossing scheme combining three rabbit breeds common for total gain and average daily gain the finishing period (30- 80 days), in Timis county breeders New Zealand White, Large Chinchilla and Californian. The data obtained, statistic presented prove a good special combinative capacity for this character, reason for which the crossing scheme is recommended for producing meat individuals destined for slaughterhouses. It is well known that breeding is based on phenotypic and behavioural performance assessed at the level of each honeybee colony. By selection, the genes responsible for the desired characters have to be favoured, by evaluation and classification of all colonies involved in a breeding program. Generally, in the beekeeping practice, the most applied method of selection is the mass selection regarding the main objectivehoney production. Some more elaborated programs use selection simultaneous selection on several characters. Until now, a standard method for honey bees evaluation and selection on several characters could not be generalized, every breeder establishing the selection method depending on proposed goals which could be different especially when we speak about different races and environmental conditions. The studies on coypu behaviour are applied in the development of knowledge regarding ethology, in the coypu-breeding technology, animal welfare and, at the moment, they present great importance for animal protection. The biological material studied was consisted of health adult coypus, belonging to the variety Golden Standard with a similar body mass. The indices supervised were: feeding behaviour duration if coypus are fed with barley and carrots according to gender and time slot, the duration of one feeding sequence according to forage consumed and gender and the number of feeding sequences according to forage consumed and gender. For realising the purposed aim, each coypu was monitorized (video), individually, 24 hours a day. The duration of feeding behaviour when coypus are fed with barley and carrots was 4507.88±38.99 seconds for males (5.21% of the behavioural manifestations), and for coypu females, the duration of feeding behaviour was 4576.63±26.01 seconds (5.29% of the behavioural manifestations). The most intense manifestations of the feeding behaviour took place in the time slots 08:00-14:00 and 14:00-20:00, and the lowest intensity of the feeding behaviour manifestations took place in the time slot 02:00- 08:00. Knowing the behaviour of one species, with interest in animal husbandry science represent a compulsory necessity for the development and improvement of the breeding and exploiting technology for this species. The body measurements was made on 20 males of river lobster (Astacus fluviatilis or Astacus astacus). The lobsters on witch the study was made had an average total length of body of 12.72 cm ±0.19 cm (formed from: 6.07±0.10cm the length of cefalothorax, 4.73 ±0.10 cm the length of abdomen and 1.91 ±0.07 cm length of telson), and a body weight of 55.70±3.07 g. the males present a length of antennas of 8.53±0.34 cm, a feelers of 2.20±0.05 cm, and the stems of the eyes of 0.51±0.02 cm. The body of males present a average width of 3.35±0.07 cm at level of cefalothorax, and 2.40±0.05 cm at abdomen level. Average deepness of cefalothorax was 2.85±0.07cm, and abdomen deepness of 1.34±0.03cm. The 5 pairs of periopodes had an average length of 10.91±0.42 cm, 6.06±0.22 cm, 7.21±0.21 cm, 6.57±0.16 cm and 5.85±0.15cm. This work presents the results of the morphological measurements performed on working bees originating in 6 apiaries located in Caras-Severin and Timis Counties. The experiments were carried out during 15.08.2009- 15.09.2009, on 412 bees belonging to the species Apis mellifica carpatica. During the experiment, we performed the following determinations: proboscis length, anterior wing length and width, posterior wing length and width, tibia length, tarsus length and we calculated the tarsal, cubital and radial indices. Successive to the statistical interpretation, we observed that the bees originating in the apiaries from Caras-Severin recorded bigger values in most parameters studied. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

In this work, we tested the resistance of bee families to young bee diseases. The researches were carried out in two apiaries from Timişoara and Comoraste, Caras-Severin County. The biological material was consisted of 10 bee families belonging to the species Apis mellifica carpatica, distributed in two experimental variants of 5 families, with almost equal power. During this experiment, we assessed the degree of cleaning and removing of the young bees that died of freezing. Successive to the researches performed, in all the three controls we observed significant differences, from a statistical viewpoint (p<0.05) between the two experimental variants, regarding the number of cells with removed dead young bees. Romanian Mioritic Shepherd Dog was selected from a natural population breed in Carpathian Mountains. The aim of this paper was to estimate the correlation coefficients between 6 characteristics, using 26 males from Romanian Mioritic Shepherd Dog breed. The animals were registered with the Romanian Mioritic Association Club from Romania. Following the analysis of the phenotypic correlation, we identified some strong positive correlations between the length of the head and the length of the scull, and between the length of the head and the length of the snout.
