In the current study, the underlying anti-metastatic mechanism of melatonin contained in some edible plants was explored in association with transmembrane protease serine 4 (TMPRSS4) mediated metastasis and epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT) signaling in human HCT15 and SW620 colorectal cancer cells. Here, TMPRSS4 was highly expressed in HCT15, but was weakly expressed in SW620 cells. Melatonin exerted weak cytotoxicity, decreased invasion, adhesion, and migration, and attenuated the expression of TMPRSS4, cyclin E, pro-urokinase-type plasminogen activator (pro-uPA), p-signal transducer and activator of transcription 3 (p-STAT3), p-focal adhesion kinase (p-FAK), Snail and increased the expression of E-cadherin, p27, pp38 and p-Jun N-terminal kinases (p-JNK) in HCT15 cells. Conversely, overexpression of TMPRSS4 reduced the ability of melatonin to activate E-cadherin and reduce Snail. Furthermore, even in SW620 cells transfected with TMPRSS4-overexpression plasmid, melatonin effectively suppressed invasion and migration along with decreased expression of Snail, cyclin A, cyclin E, pro-uPA and p-FAK and increased expression of E-cadherin and p27. Overall, these findings provide evidence that melatonin suppresses metastasis in colon cancer cells via inhibition of TMPRSS4 mediated EMT.

Automotive seat recliner has the function to control the angle at the back of chair and has the relation close to the safety of seat. Therefore each of parts constituting the recliner is important and the recliner housing to protect these parts from various dynamic loads is also important. In this study, the recliner housing with t=3mm which is made of high tension steel plate(SPFC 980) is applied to actual automotive seat. The deformation is investigated through the durability tester. Deformation and equivalent stress are also analyzed by simulation analysis under the same condition with experiment. After recliners with thicknesses of 1mm and 2mm are modeled by bases of experimental and analysis values, deformation and equivalent stress are investigated through structural analysis.

승차감이나 안전에 관련된 부분 중 하나인 자동차 시트는 차량 주행시 전달되는 충격이나 진동을 적절하게 흡수하여 승객에게 안락성을 제공한다. 또한 이러한 여건을 만족시키면서 승객의 안전을 보장하는 충분한 강성과 강도를 가져야 한다. 자동차 시트는 2가지의 모델로 설계를 하고 구조 해석을 하였다. 그 결과, 시트 백 프레임의 모델(b)가 (a)보다 적은 변형량과 피로 수명을 보였고. 모델의 중앙에 해당되는 허리부분에서 가장 많은 변형량과 파손 가능성을 보였다. 고유진동수를 적용한 진동해석에서, 모델(a)의 경우는 모델의 바깥쪽에서 안쪽으로 변형이 되었고, 모델(b)의 경우는 모델의 안쪽에서 바깥쪽으로 변형이 되었다. 전반적으로 모든 면에서 모델(b)가 (a)보다 구조적으로 안전하다고 사료된다. 【The Automotive seat is the component related at passenger feeling and safety. It absorbs the impact or vibration and supplies the comfortableness. It must also have sufficient rigidity and strength to satisfy these given conditions. Two kinds of seat models are designed and studied by structural analysis. Seat back frame (b) has lower deformation and fatigue life than (a). Most deformation and damage possibility is shown at the waist, that is the middle of model. On the vibration analysis at which natural frequency is applied, model (a) has the deformation from outside to inside of model, but model (b) has the deformation from inside to outside of model. Model (b) is safer than model (a) structurally at most cases.】

Study Design: This study intended to find out differences of effects by axial loading in MRI examination in a patient group with neurologic claudication and a group without neurologic claudication Objectives: It was intended to understand in which group the effects of axial loading can be expected when taking MRI on the lumbar spine. Summary of Literature Review: The study of Willen and Danielson found spinal canal stenosis, which cannot be found by existing methods comparing an MRI taken in bended posture of lumbar without axial loading implementation by MRI taken with axial loading implementation. Hiwatashi et al. also reported that there was a change of treatment direction by laminectomy after axial loading in patients who were intended to take a conservational treatment before the axial loading. Materials and Methods: A total of 39 patients and 54 intervertebral discs were compared. The distances from a sagittal plane before and after intervertebral discs were compared by measuring a sectional area of dura mater in a horizontal plane image and two groups were compared by existence of patients’ neurologic claudication. Results: The AP diameter before and after a intervertebral discs increased into 41.98 mm from 41.1 mm on the average and the sectional area of dura mater showed 137.47mm 2 before loading and 119.86mm 2 after loading on the average. There was not a significant difference in the distances before and after axial loading implementation, but a significant difference was found in the sectional area of dura mater. Conclusion: Axial loading would contribute to diagnose spinal disease, and especially, spinal canal stenosis in a patient group with claudication.
