Lehké olefiny jsou nezbytnou surovinou pro průmyslové procesy, jako je výroba polymerů, oxygenátů atd. V současné době se tyto olefiny vyrábějí především parním krakováním a fluidním katalytickým krakováním ropných derivátů. Předkládané způsoby se však provádějí za náročných reakčních podmínek při vysokých teplotách s významným množstvím emisí CO2. Kromě toho jsou vedlejšími produkty těchto procesů alkany, které se obvykle spalují, přičemž mají velký potenciál pro užitečnější využití. Na druhou stranu, hojné objevy přírodního a břidlicového plynu po celém světě poskytly další zdroj pro uspokojení vysoce rostoucí celosvětové poptávky po lehkých olefinech. Proto se (oxidativní) dehydrogenace lehkých alkanů stává stále důležitějším způsobem, jak efektivněji vyrábět olefiny. Ačkoli si přímá dehydrogenace lehkých alkanů našla cestu do průmyslu (ale trpí silnou deaktivací), oxidační dehydrogenace dosud nebyla průmyslově implementována kvůli problému s nízkou selektivitou dostupných katalyzátorů v důsledku nadměrné oxidace produktů. V poslední době nosné alkalické chloridy a hexagonální nitrid boru vykazují vysokou aktivitu a selektivitu při oxidační dehydrogenaci lehkých alkanů. Pro přímou dehydrogenaci lehkých alkanů jsou považovány za aktivní nanesené nanočástice ušlechtilých kovů. Je však zapotřebí podrobného zkoumání vztahu strukturaaktivita-stabilita pro jejich použití v reakci. Tato práce se zaměřuje na studium katalytického chování těchto tří slibných katalytických skupin pro (oxidativní) dehydrogenaci lehkých alkanů a pochopení jevů, které by mohly ovlivnit jejich aktivitu. V této práci byly zkoumány kritické parametry jako chemické složení, krystalinita, texturní vlastnosti, reakční podmínky, efekt předúpravy/regenerace, stabilita, katalytická aktivita a selektivita katalyzátorů při výrobě olefinů prostřednictvím (oxidativní) dehydrogenace alkanů. Byly charakterizovány čerstvé, ale i použité katalyzátory, aby se prozkoumaly fyzikálně-chemické změny, ke kterým doš, Light olefins are essential feedstock for industrial processes such as the production of polymers, oxygenates, etc. Currently, these olefins are produced mainly via steam cracking and fluid catalytic cracking of petroleum derivatives. However, the present methods are carried out under severe reaction conditions at high temperatures with significant amounts of CO2 emission. On the other hand, the abundant discovery of natural and shale gas around the world has provided another source to meet the highly growing global demand for light olefins. Therefore, the (oxidative) dehydrogenation of light alkanes is growing important way to produce olefins more efficiently. Although direct dehydrogenation of light alkanes has found its way into the industry (but suffering from strong deactivation), oxidative dehydrogenation has not yet been industrially implemented because of the low selectivity problem of the available catalysts due to the overoxidation of the products. Recently, the supported alkali chlorides and hexagonal boron nitride have shown high activity and selectivity in the oxidative dehydrogenation of light alkanes. Meanwhile, supported noble-metalnanoparticles are considered to be active for the direct dehydrogenation of light alkanes. However, a detailed investigation of the structure-activity-stability relationship for their use in the reaction is required. Thisthesis focuses on studying the catalytic behavior of these three promising catalyst groups for the (oxidative) dehydrogenation of light alkanes and understanding the phenomena that could influence their activity. The catalytic activity of zeolites is often related to their acid-base properties. In this work, the relationship between the value of apparent activation energy of ethanol dehydration, measured in a fixed bed reactor and by means of a temperature-programmed surface reaction (TPSR) depending on the amount of ethanol in the zeolite lattice and the value of activation energy of H/D exchange as a measure of acid-base properties of MFI and CHA zeolites, was studied. Tests in a fixed bed reactor were unable to provide reliable reaction kinetics data due to internal diffusion limitations and rapid catalyst deactivation. Only the TPSR method was able to provide activation energy values comparable to the activation energy values obtained from the H/D exchange rate measurements. In addition, for CHA zeolite, it has been shown that the values of ethanol dehydration activation energies depend on the amount of ethanol in the CHA framework, and this effect can be attributed to the substrate clustering effects supporting the deprotonation of zeolite Bronsted centers., Připravené MFI a CHA zeolity byly testovány jako katalyzátory v dehydrataci etanolu. Acid forms of zeolites have been used in industry for several decades but scaling the strength of their acid centers is still an unresolved and intensely debated issue. In this paper, the Bronsted acidity strength in aluminosilicates measured by their deprotonation energy (DPE) was investigated for FAU, CHA, IFR, MOR, FER, MFI, and TON zeolites by means of periodic and cluster calculations at the density functional theory (DFT) level. The main drawback of the periodic DFT is that it does not provide reliable absolute values due to spurious errors associated with the background charge introduced in anion energy calculations. To alleviate this problem, we employed a novel approach to cluster generation to obtain accurate values of DPE. The cluster models up to 150 T atoms for the most stable Bronsted acid sites were constructed on spheres of increasing diameter as an extension of Harrison's approach to calculating Madelung constants. The averaging of DPE for clusters generated this way provides a robust estimate of DPE for investigated zeolites despite slow convergence with the cluster size. The accuracy of the cluster approach was further improved by a scaled electrostatic embedding scheme proposed in this work. The electrostatic embedding model yields the most reliable values with the average deprotonation energy of about 1245 +/- 9 kJ center dot mol(-1) for investigated acidic zeolites. The cluster calculations strongly indicate a correlation between the deprotonation energy and the zeolite framework density. The DPE results obtained with our electrostatic embedding model are highly consistent with the previously reported QM/MM and periodic calculations., Síla Bronstedovy kyselosti v aluminosilikátech byla měřena pomocí jejich deprotonační energie a DFT výpočtů. Chemically and structurally flexible zeolites that adapt to coordinate extra-framework cations show a rich variety of gas adsorption behavior. Zeolite framework composition can be tuned to optimize pore geometry and host-guest interaction to improve selectivity. Herein, we report the study on the influence of zeolite framework nature on the separation of CO2/CH4, for CHA system containing variable isomorphously substituted heteroelements (none, B, Al, Ga, and Ti). Their performance has been evaluated by single-component isotherms and the overall separation ability was found to be related to both the geometry of 8-ring pore apertures in CHA and interaction between zeolite host and guest molecules, as revealed by Rietveld refinement of PXRD after dehydration and variable-pressure FTIR spectroscopy. Nearly isotropic geometry of the 8-ring pore opening in Al-CHA (3.84 x 3.89 angstrom) was obtained, while Ga-CHA exhibits the largest distortion (3.76 x 3.93 angstrom). Despite the smallest ionic radius of B, both the pore size of 8-ring (3.76 x 3.86 angstrom) as well as the unit cell volume are the smallest amongst the studied materials. Due to the combination of both the textural and the chemical factors, the maximum CO2 capacity and separation selectivity over CH4 follows the order Al-CHA > Ga-CHA > B-CHA approximate to Si-CHA > Ti-CHA. These observations suggest that tuning the framework composition of zeolite can strongly influence the separation of small molecules such as CO2 and CH4., Chemicky a strukturně flexibilní zeolity , které adaptují koordinované mimomřížkové kationty, vykazují širokou variaci chování v adsorpci plynů. Propane dehydrogenation (PDH) yields propene, a valuable feedstock in increasing global demand. Yet, despite recent advances in supported metal nanoparticles (NPs) for such catalytic applications, preventing nanoparticle agglomeration remains a challenge. In this study, we prepared well-dispersed Pd nanoparticles and encapsulated them within IPC-2 and IPC-4 zeolites using the Assembly, Disassembly, Organization, and Reassembly (ADOR) process based on the 3D-2D-3D transformation. By structural and textural analysis, we confirmed the synthesis of two 'ADORable' zeolites incorporated with Pd nanoparticles, namely Pd@IPC-2 and Pd@IPC-4. In the direct dehydrogenation of propane, Pd NPs encapsulated within IPC-2 and IPC-4 zeolites outperformed their impreg-nated counterparts (Pd/IPC-2 and Pd/IPC-4), with Pd@IPC-2 showing a higher catalytic activity than Pd@IPC-4. Accordingly, in addition to the number of surface Pd atoms, the size of the zeolite channels and the structure of the framework strongly affect the catalytic activity of encapsulated Pd. Moreover, confining Pd NPs inside zeolite channels prevented their sintering and agglomeration during the reaction as Pd NPs in impregnated catalysts expanded during the reaction. However, the structure of the zeolite encapsulated with Pd catalysts partly collapsed due to the harsh conditions of the dehydrogenation reaction, hindering access to Pd NPs, as observed in IR spectra. Therefore, palladium NPs are stable within zeolites and do not sinter, but their catalytic activity gradually decreases with the formation of carbon deposits. The zeolite frameworks (FER, TON, CHA, and IFR) with a large diversity of the IR band shapes in the OH stretching region were investigated by combined use of FT-IR spectroscopy and DFT calculations. The analysis of various isolated Brunsted acid sites was performed with a model based on Boltzmann weighted relative energies and OH frequencies obtained by the omega/r correlation method. This approach has recently been used to reveal the non-statistical incorporation of aluminum into the H-MOR framework. The model correctly predicts the band shapes of H-FER and H-TON zeolites in the free OH region of the FT-IR spectra. For H-CHA and H-IFR, however, the mutual BAS interactions cannot be ignored even for high Si/Al ratios, which renders the concept of isolated BAS inadequate. Thus, the periodic calculations of adsorption and catalytic properties of zeotype frameworks should always be carried out with extended models mimicking real heteroatom distribution in these materials., Zeolitické mřížky typů FER, TON, CHA a IFR s rozsáhlou diverzitou IR pásů v OH regionu byly zkoumány kombinací FTIR spektroskopie a DFT výpočtů. Aplikovaný model dobře predikoval tvary OH pásů v H-FER a H-TON zeolitech. Nicméně v případě H-CHA a H-IFR zeolitů, vzájemné BAS interakce nemohly být ignorovány z důvodu vysokého poměru Si/Al.

The strength of Bronsted acid sites (BAS) affects the properties of 2D and hierarchical zeolites, but the relative contribution of internal and external BAS remains unknown. Accordingly, this study aims to assess the acidity of external and internal BAS in nanosponge-like MFI zeolites by comparatively analyzing hydrogen-deuterium exchange kinetics between zeolitic deuteroxyl groups and C2H6 molecules monitored by in-situ FTIR spectroscopy. For this purpose, (i) a sample pre-treatment procedure was specifically developed to deuterate only internal or only external acid sites using 2,6-di-tert-butylpyridine (DTBP) as a masking agent and (ii) DFT modeling of surface BAS was performed. Theoretical models of the thin MFI layer revealed that the external surface of MFI crystals contains three types of BAS: (i) BAS positioned in 5-membered rings, either shielded by silanol nests, rendering the site inaccessible for DTBP or yielding a very low adsorption energy for ethane, (ii) BAS pointing into the pores, due to the presence of aluminol, which hinders DTBP accessibility, or the BAS undergoes transformation to a three-coordinate aluminium site, and (iii) BAS accessible to both DTBP and ethane. The results from our kinetics measurements showed that H/D exchange at external BAS of nanosponge MFI zeolites is faster than at internal BAS (rate constants at 425 degrees C: 3.8 10(-3) vs. 2.4 10(-3) s(-1) for external and internal BAS, respectively), but this cannot be attributed to the effect of diffusion. Therefore, the differences in exchange kinetics between external and internal BAS are given by mutual interplay of subtle differences in the corresponding activation barriers (113 vs. 117 kJ/mol for external and internal BAS, respectively) and pre-exponential terms (1.09 10(6) vs. 1.45 10(6) s(-1) for external and internal BAS, respectively)., Síla Bronstedových kyselých poloh ovlivňuje vlastnosti 2D a hierarchických zeolitů. Herein, the first comprehensive toxicity study of Al2O3, SiO2, ZrO2, TiO2 and WO3 fiber effects in cultured epithelial A549 cells is presented. The fibers were produced by centrifugal spinning from suitable spinning solutions and have an average diameter in the sub-micrometer range. At first, we characterized the fibers for their morphological, compositional and structural properties. Then, we estimated the biological effects of fibers in pulmonary epithelial A549 cells comparing them with the biological effects of Al2O3, SiO2, ZrO2, TiO2 and WO3 nanoparticles. Multiwalled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) were used as a positive control. The cells were treated with 1, 10 and 100 mu g mL(-1) concentrations of a nanomaterial for 24 and 48 h. The dehydrogenase activity and glutathione levels were determined in cells as markers of cell injury. We found that the tested fibers exhibited no deleterious effects in A549 cells except for Al2O3 and TiO2 fibers causing significant cell damage of similar extent to Al2O3 and TiO2 nanoparticles, respectively. Overall, we conclude that the herein tested inorganic fibers do not exhibit larger toxicity risk in human pulmonary A549 cells in comparison to nanoparticles of the same chemical composition., Uvádíme první komplexní studii toxicity účinků vláken Al2O3, SiO2, ZrO2, TiO2 a WO3 v kultivovaných epiteliálních buňkách A549. Vlákna byla vyrobena odstředivým zvlákňováním z vhodných zvlákňovacích roztoků a mají střední průměr v submikrometrovém rozsahu. Nejprve jsme charakterizovali vlákna z hlediska jejich morfologických, kompozičních a strukturních vlastností. Poté jsme odhadli biologické účinky vláken v buňkách plicního epitelu A549 a porovnali je s biologickými účinky nanočástic Al2O3, SiO2, ZrO2, TiO2 a WO3. Jako pozitivní kontrola byly použity vícestěnné uhlíkové nanotrubice (MWCNT). Buňky byly ošetřeny koncentracemi 1, 10 a 100 ug.ml-1 nanomateriálu po dobu 24 a 48 hodin. Aktivita dehydrogenázy a hladiny glutathionu byly stanoveny v buňkách jako markery poškození buněk. Zjistili jsme, že testovaná vlákna nevykazovala žádné škodlivé účinky v buňkách A549 kromě vláken Al2O3 a TiO2 způsobujících významné poškození buněk podobného rozsahu jako nanočástice Al2O3 a TiO2. Celkově jsme dospěli k závěru, že zde testovaná anorganická vlákna nemají větší riziko toxicity u lidských plicních buněk A549 ve srovnání s nanočásticemi stejného chemického složení.
