Background/Aim. Establishing a preoperative diagnosis of thyroid follicular tumors is difficult due to the fact that the cell morphology of adenomas and carcinomas are similar and that capsular and vascular invasion cannot be determined by cytology. We analyzed predictive factors of follicular carcinoma in order to enable a surgeon to indicate operative treatment and to perform an adequate operation for each patient with a follicular neoplasm. Methods. In this retrospective study, we analyzed medical records of all patients with follicular thyroid tumors operated at an endocrine surgery unit of a tertiary referral academic hospital, between 2008 and 2012. A total of 263 operated patients were included and divided into follicular adenomas (n = 97) and follicular carcinomas (n = 166) based on the histopathology results. The most important demographic and clinical characteristics were analyzed by univariate and multivariate logistic regression analysis. Results. In adenoma group (19 males, 78 females) age range was 19–79, mean age 50. In carcinoma group (35 males, 131 females) age range was 15– 78, mean age 48. Univariate analysis showed that thyroglobulin concentration ≥ 500 ng/mL, tumor diameter < 30 mm, presence of more than one thyroid nodule and an afunctional/hypofunctional nodule were significantly more frequent in follicular carcinoma than in follicular adenoma. Independent predictive factors of malignancy were: elevated preoperative thyroglobulin concentration (≥ 500 ng/mL) and presence of more than one nodule. Based on our results we formed a nomogram, a two-dimensional diagram designed to enable estimation of preoperative probability of malignancy. Conclusion. Elevated preoperative thyroglobulin concentration, ≥ 500 ng/mL, and the presence of more than one nodule are independent predictors of malignancy for follicular thyroid carcinomas.

Introduction: Modern health care implies the continuous development of human resources and the application of pharmacoeconomic analyzes during the introduction of new methods of treatment in medicine. Aim: The aim of the paper is to compare and analyze: 1) the number of: operated patients, provided anesthesia services, hospital days in ICU and surgery interventions; 2) distribution of anesthetic services: general anesthesia, local anesthesia and anesthesia procedures and 3) the values of direct costs of anesthesiology and reanimatology, in 2006 and 2015 in order to propose measures of rationalization and savings of funds. Methods: This paper is part of an academic IV phase study, conducted at the Clinical Center of Serbia (CCS) with the permission of the Ethical Committee of the Medical Faculty of the University of Belgrade (470 / IV7) and harmonized with the European Union Directive. Direct costs of anesthesiological services of the Center for Anesthesiology and Reanimatology, by department of anesthesia in the maternal surgical clinics of the Clinical Center of Serbia in Belgrade, during 2006 and 2015, are included and analyzed. The subjects were all anesthetized patients, both sexes, children and adults. The numeric data is processed by Microsoft Office Excel 2003 and SPSS for Windows. For the analysis of the statistical significance of the number of patients, anesthesiologic services, hospital days in Intensive Care Units and surgical procedures was used Wilcox test. Introduction: Burnout is often used to describe the state or mental process similar to a firearm after shooting or extinguishing spent candles. Aim: The objective of the present research was to value the relation between the socio-demographic data with the presence of the burnout-syndrome in the investigated subjects. Methods: The research was done as cross-sectional study, during May-June 2017 and February-March 2018 at the Emergency Center of Clinical Centre of Serbia. Medical doctors with full work-time who accepted kindly the anonymous pull were evaluated. To precede the measure of subjective perception of health, the Serbian version of Maslach Burnout Inventory-Human Services Survey (MBI-HSS) was used. Results: At the evaluation of the level of burnout (MBI-HSS) in Serbian language, 76 investigated doctors of the Emergency Center completed the inquiry. 35-44 years old category was the most representative with 40.8% respondents. Respondents most often live in community were 52.6% of all and 48.7% have children. 75% respondents showed a low level of depersonalization. There was a significant negative correlation between the years of service and level of depersonalization. Both genders (50.0% respondents) showed a high degree of lack of personal achievements, female 55.3% slightly higher than male respondents 44.7%. High emotional exhaustion was present in 85.5% and showed no significant difference in the degree of emotional exhaustion in relation to gender. A significant difference was observed by respondents who do not have children, they are subjected to higher emotional exhaustion. Conclusion: Burnout should be studded by a team composed of experts (psychiatry, occupational medicine and epidemiology) in order to determine the degree to which burnout is related to work and how to prevent and mitigate it. Respondents with lower years of service have a higher degree of depersonalization and respondents without children are subjected to higher emotional exhaustion.

Introduction: Clinical trials of medicines are crucial for obtaining relevant information on the efficacy and safety of medicines. Literature data showed that the general public is not sufficiently informed about the purpose and importance of clinical trials. The aim of this study is to investigate awareness of general public in Montenegro regarding clinical trials. Methods: The data from questionnaire completed by 400 randomly selected people aged 18 and over was collected. The questionnaires included questions about CT awareness and perceptions of CT in addition to demographic information.
