Nowadays, weekend travel is gradually gaining people's attention due to societal impacts, with the desire to improve health, relax, rest, and entertain after days of exhausting work. Therefore, the development of weekend travel is a strategy of interest to managers and leaders, leading to intense competition among destinations. Although it has been long established worldwide, weekend travel in Vietnam has only recently gained popularity, primarily among young people. Therefore, researching the factors influencing the decision to choose weekend travel destinations is significant in developing strategies for this type of tourism. The research results show that the choice of weekend travel destinations by Ho Chi Minh City tourists is driven by various internal and external factors. Among them, internal motivations, income, convenience in the trip, the image of the destination, etc., are factors rated highly by tourists. There are significant differences in some internal and external factors according to age groups. Model testing and research hypotheses indicate that 66.4% of destination choices are influenced by the proposed factors in the model. Among them, the destination image has the most significant impact, followed by income, internal motivations, and distance. The remaining factors in the model have low or no impact on the satisfaction and commitment to return to weekend travel destinations for Ho Chi Minh City tourists.

Rice husk is a byproduct of rice milling that is commonly available in Vietnam due to the country's massive rice producing industry. While rice husk has traditionally been considered a waste product, recent research has shown that it has potential for use in wastewater treatment. This study comprehensively reviews a multitude of aspects regarding the application of rice husk waste in water treatment in Vietnam. The effectiveness of rice husk as an adsorbent material for removing heavy metals, organic compounds, and dyes from wastewater is highlighted. Besides, rice husk is even used for treating floodwater in Vietnam. The use of rice husk waste for water treatment has significant potential for both environmental and economic benefits for Vietnam. It provides a low-cost, sustainable alternative to traditional wastewater treatment methods and can help to address the country's ongoing water pollution challenges.

Background Adolescents who are willing to perform first aid can help prevent injuries and ultimately death among themselves and others involved in accidents or injuries. This study aims to estimate the prevalence of students’ willingness to perform first aid procedures and additionally examine associated factors among high school students in Hue, Vietnam. Methods A cross-sectional study utilizing multi-stage stratified random sampling was conducted between April to July 2020 by investigating 798 high school students in Hue, Vietnam. Participants were invited to complete a self-reported questionnaire pertaining to individual demographic characteristics, personal perception of self-efficacy, and willingness to perform first aid. To better interpret these findings, both multivariable linear and Poisson regression models were fitted to evaluate the association between individual student characteristics and the willingness to perform first aid. Results The prevalence of having willingness to perform first aid (defined as ≥4 points out of 5 to all three questions) was 49.9% (95%CI:28.6–71.2%). The major reported barriers in performing first aid were fear of making mistakes and hurting victims (34.4%, 95%CI:31.9–37.0%), no prior first aid training (29.8%, 95%CI:25.9–33.9%), and forgetting first aid steps (23.0%, 95%CI:15.8–32.2%). By employing the multivariable linear regression model, it was identified that students with high (β = 0.614, 95%CI:0.009–1.219) or very high (β = 1.64, 95%CI:0.857–2.422) levels of self-efficacy appeared to be more willing to perform first aid. Similarly, in the Poisson regression models, compared to neutral students, students who reported high (PR = 1.214, 95%CI:1.048–1.407) or very high (PR = 1.871, 95%CI:1.049–3.337) levels of self-efficacy were more willing to perform first aid. Conclusions The level of willingness to perform first aid among high school students in this study population was found to be moderate. Therefore, integrating activities to promote self-efficacy in first aid training could be considered a progressive step towards improving a student’s willingness to provide such life-saving procedures.

Smoking is a global health problem among health science students. The objectives of this study were to estimate the prevalence of smoking and to examine associated factors among health science students from five universities in Vietnam. Among 5946 participants (95.0% response rate), the smoking prevalence was 19.2% (95% CI:17.4–21.0%) among male students and 2.9% (95% CI:2.4–3.5%) among female students. In the multivariable regression models, significant factors for smoking were the perceived financial burden, the respondent’s year in university, a non-self-determined motivation profile, self-reported depression and/or anxiety, the level of vigorous physical activity, and alcohol drinking.

E-commerce, including e-payment activities, has been popular with Vietnamese consumers for a number of years. Students are a great potential source of consumers for e-payments and studying the factors leading to the student decision is important for promotion of e-payment in Vietnam. This study utilizes the conceptual model known as TAM (extended Technology Acceptance Model), to study the factors leading to the decision by Vietnamese students to use e-payment. This model contains five potentially determinant factors: perceived ease of use, usefulness and low cost, as well as security and social influence. The SPSS software was used to perform statistical operations on the data from 420 students in universities and colleges across Vietnam. The empirical results show that perceived usefulness was the factor that had the most influence over the decision to utilize e-payment. Perceived ease of use, perceived low cost, and security had varying influences on the decision to use the service. Surprisingly, social influence was found to not be a factor in the decision to use e-payments. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This study aimed to describe mental health service utilization and examine associated factors among students in Vietnam. Data were collected at eight universities in Hanoi, Vietnam, in 2018 using an administered questionnaire. The total number of participants was 9,120 (95.1% response rate). Among students participating in our survey, 12.5% (95% CI: 10.9–14.1) with depression and/or anxiety symptoms used mental health service in the last 12 months. In the multivariable regression models, significant factors associated with mental health service utilization were marital status, types of housemate, mental health problems, physical activity, smoking status, and alcohol drinking. Our study made recommendations to stakeholders for improving mental health services utilization among students in Vietnam. These findings had important implications for future research on factors associated with mental health service utilization among university students. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
