The article presents a commentary on the work of 20th century British author Christopher Isherwood on photography. It remembers the interest of Isherwood in photography as a child after his grandparents gave him a Brownie camera. The history of a photo of British novelist Edward Upward captured by Isherwood is chronicled. In addition, the article discusses Isherwood's subsequent reticence on the subject of the camera metaphor.
