The influence of shape, orientation, and motion patterns of magnetic domains in nanocrystalline strips with a high Ni content on soft magnetic properties was studied using normal isothermal annealing and transverse magnetic field annealing (TFA). The results indicate that TFA-10 (with 10 at. % Ni) exhibits the lowest coercivity (Hc) at 0.33 A/m and a remanence ratio (Br/Bm) of 0.2%. Moreover, more stringent conditions for the anisotropy field (Hk) are applied, and the resistance to current bias is assessed by examining the relationship between the field-induced magnetic anisotropy (Ku) and the current magnitude. A highly linear hysteresis loop with an anisotropy field (Hk) of 210 A/m was achieved, resulting in an effective permeability (μe) of 5000 at 500 kHz and 0.5 V. Furthermore, the current required to maintain a 100% bias ratio is determined to be up to 12 A. This study demonstrates the excellent soft magnetic properties of TFA-10 and guides optimizing the constant permeability properties of nanocrystalline alloys. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Karst regions are characterized by unique geological formations that pose challenges to soil fertility and plant nutrition. In this study, we investigated the distribution and interactions of selenium (Se) in soils of Zheng'an County, a representative karst region in subtropical China. The results showed that the Se enrichment in the soils of Zheng'an County was high, with total contents ranging from 0.49 to 3.87 mg/kg and an average of 1.22 mg/kg, making the area Se-rich. Despite the abundance of Se, the effective percentage of Se uptake by plants was relatively low due to the generally moderately acidic nature of the soils in the region (pH: 5.98–6.60), which encourages the conversion of the available Se into forms that are not readily accessible. In addition, the high organic matter (OM) content (21.92–127.66 g/kg) promoted Se retention by interacting with Ca2+ in carbonate rocks. In addition, the clay content (50.73% to 76.19%) enhanced Se adsorption and limited Se availability. In conclusion, this study provides a basis for soil management and ecological restoration strategies in karst landscapes, highlights new insights into the dynamics of Se, and calls for further research to elucidate the Se availability mechanism and improve the efficiency of Se uptake by plants. Meanwhile, this study provides the first systematic study of Se transport and transformation, as well as Se-enriched Gastrodia elata in karst regions, and provides a preliminary understanding of the geochemical behavior of Se in karst regions. Climate warming has significantly changed the hydrological cycle in cold regions, especially in areas with distributed permafrost. Groundwater flow and its interactions with surface water are important components of the hydrological process; however, few studies or modeling works have been based on long-term groundwater level, temperature, hydrogeochemistry or isotopic field observations from boreholes due to obstacles such as remote locations, limited infrastructure, and harsh work conditions. In the Hulugou catchment located in the headwater region of the Heihe River on the northeastern Tibetan Plateau (TP), we drilled four sets of depth-specific wells and monitored the dynamic groundwater levels and temperatures at different depths. Surface water (including river water, glacier meltwater, and snow meltwater), precipitation, groundwater from boreholes, spring water, and soil water samples were collected to measure the hydrochemistry, dissolved organic carbon (DOC), dissolved inorganic carbon (DIC), and stable and radioactive isotopes at 64 sites. This study provides datasets of these groundwater parameters spanning six consecutive years of monitoring/measurements. These data can be used to investigate the groundwater flow process and the interactions between groundwater and surface water on the TP under global climate change.
