Most small rodent populations worldwide exhibit fascinating population dynamics, capturing the attention of numerous scholars due to their multiyear cyclic fluctuations in population size and the astonishing amplitude of these fluctuations. Hulunbuir steppe stands as a crucial global hub for livestock production, yet in recent decades, the area has faced recurring challenges from steppes rodent invasions, with Brandt’s vole (Lasiopodomys brandtii, BV) being particularly rampant among them. They not only exhibit seasonal reproduction but also strong social behavior, and are generally considered pests, especially during population outbreak years. Prior studies suggest that BV population outbreaks tend to occur across a wider geographic area, and a strong indicator for identifying rodent outbreaks is recognizing their burrow clusters (burrow systems). Hence, this paper conducts target object detection of BV burrow clusters in the typical steppes of Hulunbuir using two GF-2 satellite images from 2021 (the year of the BV outbreak). This task is accomplished by incorporating the Faster R-CNN model in combination with three detection approaches: object-based image classification (OBIC), based on vegetation index classification (BVIC), and based on texture classification (BTC). The results indicate that OBIC demonstrated the highest robustness in BV burrow cluster detection, achieving an average AP of 63.80% and an F1 score of 0.722 across the two images. BTC exhibited the second-highest level of accuracy, achieving an average AP of 55.95% and an F1 score of 0.6660. Moreover, this approach displayed a strong performance in BV burrow clusters localization. In contrast, BVIC achieved the lowest level of accuracy among the three methods, with an average AP of only 29.45% and an F1 score of 0.4370. Overall, this study demonstrates the crucial role of utilizing high-resolution satellite imagery combined with DL-based object detection techniques in effectively monitoring and managing the potential outbreaks of steppe rodent pests across larger spatial extents.

ObjectiveTo underscore the paramount significance of incorporating comprehensive rehabilitation therapy as a crucial aspect of managing lymphedema caused by breast cancer surgery, and to illuminate our first-hand experience and insights gained in utilizing this approach.MethodsWe present a case report of a breast cancer survivor who had been suffering from persistent left upper-limb edema for over 15 years, who was effectively treated with a combination of conventional rehabilitation (seven-step decongestion therapy) and a comprehensive rehabilitation program (seven-step decongestion therapy, along with core and respiratory function training, as well as functional brace wearing). The efficacy of the rehabilitation therapy was evaluated through a comprehensive assessmentResultsAlthough the patient underwent the conventional rehabilitation program for one month, only limited improvement was observed. However, after an additional month of comprehensive rehabilitation treatment, the patient exhibited significant improvement in both lymphedema and the overall function of the left upper limb. The patient’s progress was quantified by measuring the reduction in arm circumference, which demonstrated a notable decrease. Furthermore, improvements in joint range of motion were observed, with forward flexion of the shoulder enhancing by 10°, forward flexion improving by 15°, and elbow flexion increasing by 10°. In addition, manual muscular strength tests revealed an increase in strength from Grade 4 to Grade 5. The patient’s quality of life was also significantly improved, as evidenced by the increase in the Activities of Daily Living score from 95 to 100 points, the increase in the the Functional Assessment of Cancer Therapy: Breast score from 53 to 79 points, and the decrease in the Kessler Psychological Distress Scale score from 24 to 17 points.ConclusionWhile seven-step decongestion therapy has been shown to be effective in reducing upper-limb lymphedema caused by breast cancer surgery, it has limitations in treating more chronic cases of the condition. However, when combined with core and respiratory function training and functional brace wearing, seven-step decongestion therapy has been shown to be even more effective in reducing lymphedema and improving limb function, ultimately leading to significant improvements in quality of life.

Objectives Materials and Methods Results Conclusions A network meta‐analysis (NMA) was applied to compare the therapeutic effect of different acupuncture methods on temporomandibular disorder (TMD).A computer retrieval was carried out in the English databases of Cochrane, PubMed, Embase and Web of Science, as well as the Chinese databases of CNKI, Wanfang and VIP for randomized controlled trials on the effect of acupuncture on TMD, with a retrieval deadline of January 21, 2024. Data analysis was conducted using R software and Bayesian method. The pain score served as the primary outcome measure, with the mouth opening as the secondary outcome measure.Thirty‐five articles were included in the analysis, involving 1937 TMD patients. The NMA results suggested that DN‐PT had the best effect on relieving pain and improving mouth opening. (Description of all abbreviations in Supplementary Material S3).Based on the available evidence, the results of the NMA suggest that DN‐PT is most effective in relieving TMD pain and increasing mouth opening. However, due to the fact that some acupuncture therapies are only reported in a small number of research reports, this may lead to an increase in the randomness of the results and a decrease in the reliability. This paper studies the attempts of the MPR and the PRC to promote historical exchanges in the 1950s based on their shared ideology of proletarian internationalism and historical materialism. Specifically, this research analyzes the initial historical exchanges between the two countries in the form of material exchange in the early 1950s, and further discusses about the cooperation between Soviet, Mongolian and Chinese scholars to compile a three-volume Mongolian history in the second half of the 1950s, which pushed the Mongolian-Chinese historical exchanges to a new level. Meanwhile, the research also takes into account the influence of Sino-Soviet relations and historical differences between Mongolia and China on their historical exchanges, especially the cooperation in compiling three-volume Mongolian history. Archival documents in Mongolian and Chinese languages preserved in Mongolia are used as the main research materials for this paper. Purpose: To investigate the efficiency of a single-session character-strength-based cognitive intervention on enhancing freshmen's adaptability. Method: A randomized trial, pretest, posttest, follow-up intervention was employed using repeated-measures analyses to evaluate the effect. This 90-min intervention contained four activities with 52 undergraduate freshmen (age 17-20) randomly assigned to the intervention and control group, 38 of whom completed all the programs (19 of each group). Results: Compared with the control group, the intervention group showed a remarkable increase in well-being and a significant reduction in depression and anxiety at post and follow-up assessment. The stress level of the intervention group significantly decreased only at the follow-up test. Time effect and the interaction between time and group were significant in anxiety and stress. Conclusions: This intervention can quickly reduce negative affect and elevate well-being for freshmen. It expands the role of social worker in the prevention of mental illness among college population.

Objective: To better understand the effectiveness of a single-session positive cognitive intervention and uncover the possible mechanisms. Participants: Participants were 79 first-year students (aged 17-21) who volunteered for the intervention during the 2016 fall semester. Methods: Participants were randomly assigned into the intervention group and the control group. All participants completed pretest, post-test, 1 week, and 3-month follow-up tests. Thriving, negative emotional states, strengths knowledge were assessed. Results: Results showed significant increases of thriving in the intervention group at post-test and after 1 week, and significant decreases of negative emotions at the post-test and after 1 week and 3 months. Strengths knowledge fully mediated the intervention effect on thriving at post-test. Conclusions: The single-session positive cognitive intervention could be a responsive and effective approach to promote first-year students mental health. More attention should be paid to mechanisms of the single-session positive cognitive intervention so as to optimize the effects of the single-session positive cognitive intervention.

Purpose: Although multicomponent positive psychological interventions (MPPIs) effectively improve well-being, it is crucial to examine which intervention component plays a critical role. Method: This cluster randomized controlled trial assigned 221 immigrants from mainland China to Hong Kong to either an MPPI arm (n = 116, 11 clusters) or an MPPI + Information arm (n = 105, 11 clusters). Both arms aimed to enhance three intervention outcomes: resilience, happiness, and mental health. The MPPI part in the two arms included four components: self-efficacy, positive thinking, altruism, and goal setting. The information part provided information about Hong Kong. Results: Both arms effectively improved the four intervention components and three intervention outcomes. MPPI + Information increased the immigrants' knowledge of Hong Kong. The network analysis showed that altruism had the greatest strength in the network. Conclusions: Future studies should focus on the specific intervention component of altruism to understand how the MPPI works. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Abstract Purpose The purpose of this study is to come up with new methods to quantitate the blood loss under endoscope and explore the influence of blood loss on percutaneous endoscopic lumbar discectomy (PELD). Methods Clinical research and in vitro experiment are combined. In the in vitro experiment, 2.0-ml blood was diluted in different ratio to simulate the rinse solution of PELD, the hematocrit method (HCT-M) and red blood cell count method (RBC-M) were came up to estimate blood loss and the new methods were calibrated with the direct measurement method (Direct-M). In clinical research, 74 patients with L5/S1 disk herniation were treated with PELD, and HCT-M and the empirical method (EMP-M) were used to estimate the blood loss under endoscope. According to blood loss, all patients were divided into group A (≤ 10 ml) and group B (> 10 ml). The blood loss, operation time, fluoroscopy frequency, visual analog scale (VAS), and Oswestry Disability Index (ODI) scores were compared between the two groups. Results In the in vitro experiment, the hematocrit of the rinse solution was always stable over time. The estimated blood loss by HCT-M was stable and quite approximate to actual blood volume (2.0 ml) whatever the blood dilution ratio, while according to RBC-M, the estimated blood loss was close to the actual blood volume only when the dilution ratio was greater than 300 times. In clinical research, the blood loss estimated by HCT-M was higher than that by EMP-M in both groups (P < 0.05). There was a significant difference between group A and group B in blood loss (7.40 ± 1.61 vs 19.91 ± 10.94 ml), operation time (80.51 ± 34.70 vs 136.51 ± 41.88 min), and fluoroscopy frequency (6.92 ± 1.52 vs 11.11 ± 2.32 times) (P < 0.05). The VAS and ODI scores in group B were higher than that in group A 1 week after operation (P < 0.05); however, the scores were not different between the two groups at pre-operation (P > 0.05). Conclusion HCT-M is a reliable method to estimate endoscopic blood loss in PELD. The amount of endoscopic blood loss affects the operative procedure in operation time and fluoroscopy frequency, as well as clinical effects in VAS and ODI scores after operation in short term.

Drawing upon the social identity approach, the present study explored the interrelationships among perceived stigma (both group‐based and personal), post‐traumatic growth (PTG), and their underlying mechanisms. Cross‐sectional data were collected from 3100 residents (female: n = 1667, 53.77%; male: n = 1433, 46.23%) of Hubei Province, China, aged between 12 and 65 years. The PROCESS macro (Model 7) in SPSS was employed to examine the moderated mediation effect of Inside/Outside Wuhan status on perceived identity and its associations with perceived stigma and PTG. The measurements included a brief scale assessing COVID‐19‐related stigma, the Multigroup Measure of Ethnic Identity, and the short form of the Post‐Traumatic Growth Inventory. Results showed that perceived stigma was positively associated with PTG, which was mediated by perceived identity. The moderation analysis suggested that the mediating effect of perceived identity on the courtesy stigma–PTG linkage was more pronounced in the Outside Wuhan group compared to the Inside Wuhan group. However, such an effect was not observed when personal affiliate stigma was the antecedent. In conclusion, this study suggests that positive contact and interaction can help reduce discrimination and stigma. Enhancing the perceived identity of stigmatized individuals can ultimately contribute to the achievement of PTG. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
