An endocrine-disrupting chemical (EDC) is an exogenous chemical, or mixture of chemicals, that can interfere with any aspect of hormone action. The potential for deleterious effects of EDC must be considered relative to the regulation of hormone synthesis, secretion, and actions and the variability in regulation of these events across the life cycle. The developmental age at which EDC exposures occur is a critical consideration in understanding their effects. Because endocrine systems exhibit tissue-, cell-, and receptor-specific actions during the life cycle, EDC can produce complex, mosaic effects. This complexity causes difficulty when a static approach to toxicity through endocrine mechanisms driven by rigid guidelines is used to identify EDC and manage risk to human and wildlife populations. We propose that principles taken from fundamental endocrinology be employed to identify EDC and manage their risk to exposed populations. We emphasize the importance of developmental stage and, in particular, the realization that exposure to a presumptive "safe" dose of chemical may impact a life stage when there is normally no endogenous hormone exposure, thereby underscoring the potential for very low-dose EDC exposures to have potent and irreversible effects. Finally, with regard to the current program designed to detect putative EDC, namely, the Endocrine Disruptor Screening Program, we offer recommendations for strengthening this program through the incorporation of basic endocrine principles to promote further understanding of complex EDC effects, especially due to developmental exposures.

This paper documents the resilience of fenye (分野, lit., “field allocation”) and its applications through the nineteenth century in China. Despite literati (and eventually imperial) criticisms that the fenye system of correlative cosmography was outdated and unworthy of belief, fenye retained a sizeable audience through the close of the Qing period. At the top, the Qing imperial state continued to reference fenye correlations in its official communications late into the dynasty. In local society, literati looked to newly issued dynastic sources of astrological knowledge to update local gazetteers; in the nineteenth century, these trends were pronounced along frontier areas lacking longstanding gazetteer records. Finally, people engaged in the practice of fengshui looked to fenye knowledge to update the values and layout of the compass, the historical origins of which related to geomantic practices. In the Qing period, the compass was both theoretically and physically altered under the influence of Jesuit-introduced “Western Learning” (Xixue 西學). The paper contends that the status of fenye in pre-twentieth century China was seldom an allor-nothing proposition between a celebrated component of imperial orthodoxy and an outdated relic in inexorable decline: people critiqued fenye, used fenye, and updated fenye.

A statewide survey of home health care agency directors in Mississippi was conducted to determine the extent of Adverse Drug Reaction (ADR) monitoring and reporting by health care professionals. A 24-item questionnaire was sent to agency directors eliciting responses on agency characteristics, rate of occurrence of ADRs, and attitudes toward responsibility for monitoring ADRs. A total of 77 questionnaires were returned yielding a response rate of 48%. The average program enrolled 104 patients with 3.5 ADRs reported by health care professionals per year (range 0-65). Agency directors reported that physicians, nurses, pharmacists, and members of the pharmacy and therapeutics committee should monitor ADRs. Results indicated a need for all health-care professional involved in home health care to increase their ADR monitoring and reporting activities. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Abstract Background Hemorrhagic shock results in systemic activation of the immune system and leads to ischemia-reperfusion injury. Lymphocytes have been identified as critical mediators of the early innate immune response to ischemia-reperfusion injury, and immunomodulation of lymphocytes may prevent secondary immunologic injury in surgical and trauma patients. Methods Yorkshire swine were anesthetized and underwent a grade III liver injury with uncontrolled hemorrhage to induce hemorrhagic shock. Experimental groups were treated with a lymphocyte depletional agent, porcine polyclonal anti-thymocyte globulin (PATG) (n = 8) and compared to a vehicle control group (n = 9). Animals were observed over a 3 day survival period. Circulating lymphocytes were examined with FACS analysis for CD3/CD4/CD8, and central lymphocytes with mesenteric lymph node and spleen staining for CD3. Circulating and lung tissue16 infiltrating neutrophils were measured. Circulating CD3 lymphocytes in the blood and in central lymphoid organs (spleen/lymph node) were stained and evaluated using FACS analysis. Immune-related gene expression from liver tissue was quantified using RT-PCR. Results The overall survival was 22% (2/9) in the control and 75% (6/8) in the PATG groups, p = 0.09; during the reperfusion period (following hemorrhage) survival was 25% (2/8) in the control and 100% (6/6) in the PATG groups, p = 0.008. Mean blood loss and hemodynamic profiles were not significantly different between the experimental and control groups. Circulating CD3+CD4+ lymphocytes were significantly depleted in the PATG group compared to control. Lymphocyte depletion in the setting of hemorrhagic shock also significantly decreased circulating and lung tissue infiltrating neutrophils, and decreased expression of liver ischemia gene expression. Conclusions Lymphocyte manipulation with a depletional (PATG) strategy improves reperfusion survival in experimental hemorrhagic shock using a porcine liver injury model. This proof of principle study paves the way for further development of immunomodulation approaches to ameliorate secondary immune injury following hemorrhagic shock.

Abstract Background It is well known that the information requirements necessary to safely treat children with therapeutic medications cannot be met with the same approaches used in adults. Over a 1-year period, Duke University Hospital engaged in the challenging task of enhancing an established computerized provider order entry (CPOE) system to address the unique medication dosing needs of pediatric patients. Methods An advanced dosing model (ADM) was designed to interact with our existing CPOE application to provide decision support enabling complex pediatric dose calculations based on chronological age, gestational age, weight, care area in the hospital, indication, and level of renal impairment. Given that weight is a critical component of medication dosing that may change over time, alerting logic was added to guard against erroneous entry or outdated weight information. Results Pediatric CPOE was deployed in a staggered fashion across 6 care areas over a 14-month period. Safeguards to prevent miskeyed values became important in allowing providers the flexibility to override the ADM logic if desired. Methods to guard against over- and under-dosing were added. The modular nature of our model allows us to easily add new dosing scenarios for specialized populations as the pediatric population and formulary change over time. Conclusions The medical needs of pediatric patients vary greatly from those of adults, and the information systems that support those needs require tailored approaches to design and implementation. When a single CPOE system is used for both adults and pediatrics, safeguards such as redirection and suppression must be used to protect children from inappropriate adult medication dosing content. Unlike other pediatric dosing systems, our model provides active dosing assistance and dosing process management, not just static dosing advice.

Abstract Background Larval mosquito habitats of potential malaria vectors and related species of Anopheles from three provinces (Gyeonggi, Gyeongsangbuk, Chungcheongbuk Provinces) of the Republic of Korea were surveyed in 2007. This study aimed to determine the species composition, seasonal occurrence and distributions of Anopheles mosquitoes. Satellite derived normalized difference vegetation index data (NDVI) was also used to study the seasonal abundance patterns of Anopheles mosquitoes. Methods Mosquito larvae from various habitats were collected using a standard larval dipper or a white plastic larval tray, placed in plastic bags, and were preserved in 100% ethyl alcohol for species identification by PCR and DNA sequencing. The habitats in the monthly larval surveys included artificial containers, ground depressions, irrigation ditches, drainage ditches, ground pools, ponds, rice paddies, stream margins, inlets and pools, swamps, and uncultivated fields. All field-collected specimens were identified to species, and relationships among habitats and locations based on species composition were determined using cluster statistical analysis. Results In about 10,000 specimens collected, eight species of Anopheles belonging to three groups were identified: Hyrcanus Group - Anopheles sinensis, Anopheles kleini, Anopheles belenrae, Anopheles pullus, Anopheles lesteri, Anopheles sineroides; Barbirostris Group - Anopheles koreicus; and Lindesayi Group - Anopheles lindesayi japonicus. Only An. sinensis was collected from all habitats groups, while An. kleini, An. pullus and An. sineroides were sampled from all, except artificial containers. The highest number of Anopheles larvae was found in the rice paddies (34.8%), followed by irrigation ditches (23.4%), ponds (17.0%), and stream margins, inlets and pools (12.0%). Anopheles sinensis was the dominant species, followed by An. kleini, An. pullus and An. sineroides. The monthly abundance data of the Anopheles species from three locations (Munsan, Jinbo and Hayang) were compared against NDVI and NDVI anomalies. Conclusion The species composition of Anopheles larvae varied in different habitats at various locations. Anopheles populations fluctuated with the seasonal dynamics of vegetation for 2007. Multi-year data of mosquito collections are required to provide a better characterization of the abundance of these insects from year to year, which can potentially provide predictive capability of their population density based on remotely sensed ecological measurements.

Background: Training gaps regarding the diagnosis and management of eating disorders in diverse populations, including racial, ethnic, sexual, and gender minoritized groups, have not been thoroughly examined., Objective: This study aimed to examine resident physicians' knowledge and attitudes regarding eating disorders in diverse populations, with a focus on areas for improved training and intervention., Methods: Ninety-two resident physicians in internal medicine, emergency medicine, obstetrics/gynecology, psychiatry, and surgery at an academic center completed an online survey from 12/1/2020-3/1/2021, which comprised multiple choice and vignette-style open-ended questions to assess knowledge and attitudes toward the management and clinical presentations of eating disorders. Overall, the survey response rate was 25.7%. Descriptive statistics were reported. Vignette-style questions were analyzed using inductive coding and the frequency of responses was reported., Results: A minority of resident physicians self-reported confidence in their knowledge of the medical complications (n = 42, 45%), risk factors (n = 38, 41%), and clinical presentations (n = 32, 35%) associated with eating disorders. Responses to vignette-style questions correctly identified relevant management methods (such as electrolyte monitoring and referral to specialty care), but demonstrated limited knowledge of the clinical presentation of eating disorders. Furthermore, most respondents reported a lack of knowledge regarding eating disorders in sexual and gender minoritized patients (n = 68, 73.9%) as well as racial and ethnic minoritized patients (n = 64, 69.6%)., Conclusions: Our findings suggest concerning gaps in knowledge and confidence among resident physicians with regard to the diagnosis and treatment of eating disorders, particularly in racial, ethnic, sexual, and gender minoritized patients. Moreover, responses to vignette-like questions indicate significant homogeneity in respondents' perceptions of the clinical presentation of eating disorders, reflecting cultural biases which associate eating disorders with underweight, young, female patients. The majority did not feel competent in treating eating disorders in diverse populations and expressed desire for additional training in this area. Transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) over the left dorsolateral prefrontal cortex (L-DLPFC) is an established intervention for treatment-resistant depression (TRD), yet the underlying therapeutic mechanisms remain not fully understood. This study employs an integrative approach that combines TMS with concurrent functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) and electroencephalography (EEG), aimed at assessing the acute/immediate effects of TMS on brain network dynamics and their correlation with clinical outcomes. Our study demonstrates that TMS acutely modulates connectivity within vital brain circuits, particularly the cognitive control and default mode networks. We found that the baseline TMS-evoked responses in the cognitive control and limbic networks significantly predicted clinical improvement in patients receiving a novel EEG-synchronized repetitive TMS treatment. Furthermore, this study explored the brain-state dependent effects of TMS, as the brain-state indexed by the phase of EEG prefrontal alpha oscillation. We found that clinical outcomes in this novel treatment are linked to state-specific TMS-modulated functional connectivity within a pivotal brain circuit of the L-DLPFC and the posterior subgenual anterior cingulate cortex within the limbic system. These findings contribute to our understanding of the therapeutic effects underlying TMS treatment in depression and support the potential of assessing state-dependent TMS effects in TMS timing target selection. This study emphasizes the importance of personalized timing of TMS for optimizing target engagement of specific clinically relevant brain circuits. Background: Trans-Atlantic collaboration between nursing and pharmacy programs for interprofessional education (IPE) is uncommon. A literature search revealed limited sources for comparison, leading to the creation of a stakeholder committee from four colleges: Augusta University College of Nursing and University of Georgia College of Pharmacy, representing the United States of America, and Robert Gordon University Schools of Nursing and Midwifery and Pharmacy and Life Sciences, representing Scotland. A proposal outlining an international IPE experience designed to prepare future healthcare professionals to collaboratively address the challenges facing rural and underserved populations by supporting improvements in access to care for both countries., Interprofessional Activity: Faculty were recruited from all four colleges to create six vignettes, three by each country, categorized as rural, marginalized, or global health. Faculty content teams were made up of a pharmacist and nurse from each country (e.g., USA pharmacist and USA nurse). Some vignettes utilized standardized patients, scripts, and filmed interactions to guide discussions. Others used a virtual platform offering an interactive mock patient scenario with prompts. The event took place virtually, over a five-hour period. An expert panel started the event by discussing scope of practice, practice models, and cultural diversity. Following the panel, student participants rotated through all six vignettes led by the faculty teams who created them., Discussion: This experience was a first for all programs involved. Many lessons were learned throughout the experience, with both strengths and opportunities for improvement noted., Implications: This report focuses on implementing an international IPE experience by highlighting successes and areas for improvement. Objective: We estimated rates of opioid-related admissions in people with sickle cell disease (SCD) diagnosed with opioid-related disorders., Method: We analyzed ten years (1/2006-12/2016) of multi-state claims data from 191,638 people receiving treatment for opioid-related disorders in the U.S. We used multivariable cox regression to estimate the association between admissions for opioid-related adverse events after initiating treatment and SCD status (SCD[n = 320] vs no SCD[n = 191,318]) among people with opioid-related disorders, controlling for sociodemographic variables and comorbidities. In secondary analyses, we excluded events occurring simultaneously as vaso-occlusive crises (VOCs) and computed rates of admissions for non-opioid substance-related events (i.e., alcohol, cannabis)., Results: Whereas 287(90 %) of the SCD cohort had >1 all-cause admission, of which 199 were for VOCs, only 78(20 %) experienced an opioid-related adverse event. The SCD cohort experienced higher rates of opioid-related admissions than the non-SCD cohort (aHR = 1.82[95 % CI = 1.51-2.19), a finding that remained robust even after excluding events that occurred at the same time as a VOC. SCD diagnoses were not associated with admissions for non-opioid substance-related events., Conclusions: Even though clinicians may perceive people with SCD as being at elevated risk for substance use disorders, opioid-related admissions made up only a small fraction of all-cause admissions among people with SCD diagnosed with opioid-related disorders, in contrast to VOCs that comprised the majority of admissions. Background: Stroke leads to complex chronic structural and functional brain changes that specifically affect motor outcomes. The brain-predicted age difference (brain-PAD) has emerged as a sensitive biomarker. Our previous study showed higher global brain-PAD associated with poorer motor function post-stroke. However, the relationship between local stroke lesion load, regional brain age, and motor impairment remains unclear., Methods: We studied 501 individuals with chronic unilateral stroke (>180 days post-stroke) from the ENIGMA Stroke Recovery Working Group dataset (34 cohorts). Structural T1-weighted MRI scans were used to estimate regional brain-PAD in 18 predefined functional subregions via a graph convolutional network algorithm. Lesion load for each region was calculated based on lesion overlap. Linear mixed-effects models assessed associations between lesion size, local lesion load, and regional brain-PAD. Machine learning classifiers predicted motor outcomes using lesion loads and regional brain-PADs. Structural equation modeling examined directional relationships among corticospinal tract lesion load (CST-LL), ipsilesional brain-PAD, motor outcomes, and contralesional brain-PAD., Findings: Larger total lesion size was positively associated with higher ipsilesional regional brain-PADs (older brain age) across most regions (p < 0.05), and with lower contralesional brain-PAD, notably in the ventral attention-language network (p < 0.05). Higher local lesion loads showed similar patterns. Specifically, lesion load in the salience network significantly influenced regional brain-PADs across both hemispheres. Machine learning models identified CST-LL, salience network lesion load, and regional brain-PAD in the contralesional frontoparietal network as the top three predictors of motor outcomes. Structural equation modeling revealed that larger stroke damage was associated with poorer motor outcomes (β = -0.355, p < 0.001), which were further linked to younger contralesional brain age (β = 0.204, p < 0.001), suggesting that severe motor impairment is linked to compensatory decreases in contralesional brain age., Interpretation: Our findings reveal that larger stroke lesions are associated with accelerated aging in the ipsilesional hemisphere and paradoxically decelerated brain aging in the contralesional hemisphere, suggesting compensatory neural mechanisms. Objective: Suicides continue to increase among youth, with substantial disparities among Black youth. Culturally responsive evidence-based interventions for Black youth are urgently needed to disrupt these inequities. This study aimed to identify evidence-based psychotherapy interventions for suicidal thoughts and behaviors among Black youth and examine how existing intervention manuals have integrated culturally relevant content to Black youth., Method: Literature searches were conducted to identify relevant articles comparing the effectiveness of interventions for suicidal thoughts and behaviors in study populations including >30% Black youth and youth participants up to age 25. Published articles and therapy manuals were analyzed on cultural adaptation and on 7 content domains for cultural adaptation. Meta-analysis used a random-effects model and explored potential moderators., Results: Of 755 screened records, 13 studies met eligibility criteria and featured 8 manualized interventions. Meta-analysis revealed significant effects in reducing suicidal thoughts and behaviors between treatment groups (Hedges g = 1.08 with 95% CI [0.07, 2.09]), but low-quality evidence, significant heterogeneity, small sample sizes, and inconsistencies in outcome measures. Only 1 intervention, Adapted Coping With Stress (A-CWS), specifically focused on Black youth. Culturally relevant content was predominantly absent or contained brief descriptions. The most frequently included content was provider cultural competency training., Conclusion: The lack of representation of Black youth in treatment studies and sparse literature on culturally responsive treatments for Black youth and their families continue to stall significant advancements to disrupt current suicide trends disproportionately impacting Black youth. Background: Incidence rates of autism, attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), and gender dysphoria (GD) are rising not only in the general population, but particularly among children, adolescents, and young adults with eating disorders (EDs). While ED rates have risen during the COVID pandemic, trends in co-occurring autism, ADHD, and GD have yet to be investigated in detail or at scale by way of large electronic medical record data., Objectives: To investigate trends in rates of co-occurring autism, ADHD, and GD among children, adolescents, and young adults with EDs in years prior to and during the COVID-19 pandemic., Methods: We utilized a de-identified multinational electronic health records database (TriNetX) with 48,558 individuals aged 5-26 diagnosed with eating disorders (EDs) at least twice between 2017 and 2022. The primary predictor variable differentiated between the years of each person's index (first) ED diagnosis (2017-2019 vs. 2020-2022). The primary outcome variable was the rate of new co-occurring psychiatric diagnoses of autism, ADHD, and GD in the year following each patient's first ED diagnosis. We applied propensity score-matched multivariable logistic regressions to compare primary outcomes between 2017-2019 and 2020-2022., Results: Our analysis included 17,445 individuals diagnosed with EDs in 2017-2019 (8% autism, 13.5% ADHD, 1.9% GD) and 31,113 diagnosed with EDs in 2020-2022 (8% autism, 14.6% ADHD, 3.2% GD). After 1:1 propensity score matching, 17,202 individuals from the 2017-2019 cohort were matched to peers mirroring the 2020-2022 cohort. Those diagnosed in 2020-2022 showed a 19% (aOR[95%CI]=1.19[1.07-1.33]), 25% (aOR=1.25[1.04-1.49]), and 36% (aOR=1.36[1.07-1.74]) increase in odds for autism, ADHD, and GD diagnoses, respectively, within the 365 days after the index EDs diagnosis, compared to the 2017-2019 cohort., Discussion: Rates of autism, ADHD, and GD are significantly higher in individuals with ED in the post-pandemic 2020-2022 cohort in comparison to the pre-pandemic 2017-2019 cohort, even after controlling for baseline levels of co-occurring psychiatric diagnoses. Background: Among presenting conditions in pediatric acute care settings, conduct disorder (CD) is a potentially stigmatizing yet common diagnosis in the setting of behavioral dysregulation requiring psychiatric admission. Concerns exist about over-diagnosis of CD in non-Hispanic Black children relative to White peers and the potential for the CD diagnosis to obfuscate manifestations of co-occurring psychiatric conditions., Methods: We evaluated the number of manuscripts on CD diagnoses that report race and ethnicity and co-occurring mental health characteristics (i.e., history of trauma, attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder [ADHD], or substance use disorders [SUDs]) that are often undertreated in racially minoritized children. Using the keywords "conduct disorder" or "externalizing disorder," we screened peer-reviewed articles in PubMed published from January 2013 to November 2023., Results: We screened 2791 manuscripts for potential inclusion, of which 136 were original research articles with data on children with CD diagnoses. Thirteen articles contained racial and ethnic data for people with CD diagnoses, with the majority illustrating that Black children were overrepresented among those with CD diagnoses. No studies provided details on how race and ethnicity were ascertained and few mentioned racism as a potential explanation for racial disparities in CD diagnoses. No studies contained data collected after 2016, with three studies using data collected as early as 2001-2002. Across all articles, data on co-occurring trauma, ADHD, and SUDs were scarce., Conclusions: The overwhelming majority of studies on CD diagnoses did not provide comprehensive data on race and ethnicity and co-occurring psychiatric disorders in children receiving diagnoses of CD., (© 2024 The Author(s). Background: Traditionally, 6-month courses of prednisolone are used to treat steroid-responsive meningitis-arteritis (SRMA), but this medication is associated with adverse effects that can lead to poor quality of life., Hypothesis/objectives: Resolution of clinical signs and rate of relapse of SRMA would not be significantly different between a 6-month prednisolone protocol and a 6-week protocol., Animals: Forty-four hospital cases from multiple referral centers in the United Kingdom (2015-2019). Twenty of 44 were treated with the 6-month protocol and 24/44 with the 6-week protocol., Methods: Prospective, randomized trial with 12-month follow-up. The same prednisolone protocol reinitiated in the event of relapse. Analysis of relapses with binary logistic and Poisson regression modeling., Results: All cases responded to their treatment protocol. Relapses occurred in 6/20 (30%) of the 6-month protocol and 9/24 (38%) of the 6-week protocol. There was no statistical difference in the incidence risk of at least 1 relapse between the 2 groups (odds ratio = 1.40; 95% confidence interval [CI], 0.40-4.96, P = 0.60). Among the 15 dogs that relapsed, 10/15 (67%) relapsed once, 3/15 (20%) relapsed twice, and 2/15 (13%) relapsed 3 times. No statistical difference was detected in the incidence rate ratio (IRR) of total relapse events between the 2 groups (IRR = 1.46; 95% CI, 0.61-3.48; P = 0.40)., Conclusions and Clinical Importance: "Short" 6-week prednisolone protocols could be used to treat SRMA, thereby presumably reducing the duration and severity of prednisolone's adverse effects., (© 2024 The Author(s). Background: There is a great need for evidence-based antiracism interventions targeting mental health clinicians to help mitigate mental health disparities in racially and ethnically minoritized groups., Objective: This study provides an exploratory analysis of mental health clinicians' perspectives on the acceptability of a web-based antiracism intervention., Methods: Mental health clinicians were recruited from a single academic medical center through outreach emails. Data were collected through individual 30-minute semistructured remote video interviews with participants, then recorded, transcribed, and analyzed using content analysis., Results: A total of 12 mental health clinicians completed the study; 10 out of 12 (83%) were female candidates. Over half (7/12, 58%) of the respondents desired more robust antiracism training in mental health care. Regarding the web-based antiracism intervention, (8/12, 67%) enjoyed the digitally delivered demo module, (7/12, 58%) of respondents suggested web-based content would be further enhanced with the addition of in-person or online group components., Conclusions: Our results suggest a strong need for additional antiracist training for mental health clinicians. Overall, participants responded favorably to novel web-based delivery methods for an antiracism intervention. Although many interventions for acute spinal cord injury (SCI) appear promising in experimental models, translation directly from experimental animals to human patients is a large step that can be problematic. Acute SCI occurs frequently in companion dogs and may provide a model to ease translation. Recently, incision of the dura has been highlighted in both research animals and human patients as a means of reducing intraspinal pressure, with a view to improving perfusion of the injured tissue and enhancing functional recovery. Observational clinical data in humans and dogs support the notion that it may also improve functional outcome. Here, we report the results of a multi-center randomized controlled trial of durotomy as an adjunct to traditional decompressive surgery for treatment of severe thoracolumbar SCI caused by acute intervertebral disc herniation in dogs. Sample-size calculation was based on the proportion of dogs recovering ambulation improving from an expected 55% in the traditional surgery group to 70% in the durotomy group. Over a 3.5-year period, we enrolled 140 dogs, of which 128 had appropriate duration of follow-up. Overall, 65 (51%) dogs recovered ambulation. Recovery in the traditional decompression group was 35 of 62 (56%) dogs, and in the durotomy group 30 of 66 (45%) dogs, associated with an odds ratio of 0.643 (95% confidence interval: 0.320-1.292) and z-score of -1.24. This z-score indicates trial futility to reach the target 15% improvement over traditional surgery, and the trial was terminated at this stage. We conclude that durotomy is ineffective in improving functional outcome for severe acute thoracolumbar SCI in dogs. In the future, these data can be compared with similar data from clinical trials on duraplasty in human patients and will aid in determining the predictive validity of the "companion dog model" of acute SCI., Competing Interests: No competing financial interests exist., (© Nick D. The American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry (AACAP) promotes the healthy development of children, adolescents, and families through advocacy, education, and research. This requires effectively meeting the mental health needs of historically minoritized communities. A diverse clinician workforce is an essential component of meeting those needs. This article will discuss AACAP's strategic plan for diversifying the workforce, this will be done with 3 main points: promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) across all mission area, creating a pipeline of child and adolescent psychiatrists, and monitoring DEI activities and progress on an organizational level., Competing Interests: Disclosure T.R.
