Minocycline belongs to the family of tetracyclines, which are drugs traditionally approved as antibiotics. Based on preclinical animal cardiac models and clinical neurology trials, this drug has gained special attention as a promising cardiovascular therapeutic agent given its anti-inflammatory, antiapoptotic, antioxidant, and antienzymatic properties. This review focuses on the available evidence for minocycline as a cardioprotective drug, with special attention to mechanisms of action. Ongoing cardiovascular clinical trials are briefly discussed. La minocycline fait partie de la famille des tetracyclines, des medicaments approuves traditionnellement en tant qu'antibiotiques. Etant donne les proprietes anti-inflammatoires, antiapoptotiques, antioxydantes et inhibitrices qu'elle demontre dans des modeles animaux de maladies cardiaques, dans un contexte preclinique, ainsi que dans le cadre d'essais cliniques en neurologie, la minocycline recoit de plus en plus d'attention en tant qu'agent prometteur pour le traitement des maladies cardiovasculaires. Cet article de synthese porte essentiellement sur les donnees probantes publiees sur la minocycline en tant que medicament cardioprotecteur, et ce, en accordant une attention particuliere aux mecanismes d'action. Takotsubo cardiomyopathy, also known as stress cardiomyopathy, is a syndrome that affects predominantly postmenopausal women. Despite multiple described mechanisms, intense, neuroadrenergic myocardial stimulation appears to be the main trigger. Hyperthyroidism, but rarely hypothyroidism, has been described in association with Takotsubo cardiomyopathy. A letter to the editor is presented which discusses a case study of a 62-year-old male with chronic pulmonary embolism showing Westermark's and Palla's signs in his lungs through computed tomography (CT) pulmonary angiogram.

The article presents case study of a 51 year old male with history of Type 2 diabetes mellitus and hypertension, complaining of visual hallucinations for a week and adds Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) revealed presence of hypodense circular area in the dorsal right thalamus.
