Telepathology and digital pathology, enhanced with artificial intelligence (AI), represent groundbreaking technology advancements. These entities offer information exchange, enhanced teaching and research, and automated diagnosis with high precision through a computerized approach. Machine learning in pathology shows promise for both human and veterinary medicine, yielding favorable results and in some cases, surpassing the accuracy of human pathologists. This study aimed to highlight the significance of integrated AI with telepathology and digital pathology, outlining both its advantages and limitations while emphasizing the crucial role of pathologists in its implementation. A literature review was conducted to uncover publications and data on telepathology and AI, and their implementation in human and veterinary medicine. This approach has facilitated information exchange, enhancing both teaching and research. In addition, it facilitates the creation of innovative methods and offers more precise patient diagnoses, adhering to ethical and legal standards. This study delivers valuable and comparable data on telepathology, digital pathology, and AI integration. Purpose: To evaluate the inductive capacity of F18 bioglass putty on the induced membrane technique in a segmental bone defect of the rabbit's radius., Methods: Ten female Norfolk at 24 months of age were used. The animals were randomly separated based on postoperative time points: five rabbits at 21 and four at 42 days. A 1-cm segmental bone defect was created in both radii. The bone defects were filled with an F18 bioglass putty., Results: Immediate postoperative radiographic examination revealed the biomaterial occupying the segmental bone defect as a well-defined radiopaque structure with a density close to bone tissue. At 21 and 42 days after surgery, a reduction in radiopacity and volume of the biomaterial was observed, with particle dispersion in the bone defect region. Histologically, the induced membrane was verified in all animals, predominantly composed of fibrocollagenous tissue. In addition, chondroid and osteoid matrices undergoing regeneration, a densely vascularized tissue, and a foreign body type reaction composed of macrophages and multinucleated giant cells were seen., Conclusions: the F18 bioglass putty caused a foreign body-type inflammatory response with the development of an induced membrane without expansion capacity to perform the second stage of the Masquelet technique.

Background: Mammary gland tumors are the most prevalent neoplasm in intact female dogs, and they are good natural models to study comparative oncology. Most canine mammary malignancies, as in women, are commonly refractory to conventional therapies and demand continuous new therapeutic approaches. Crotalus durissus terrificus , also called rattlesnake, has more than 60 different proteins in its venom with multiple pharmaceutical uses, such as antitumor, antiviral, and antimicrobial action. Crotoxin, a potent β-neurotoxin formed by the junction of two subunits, a basic subunit (CB-PLA 2 ) and an acidic subunit (crotapotin), has already been reported to have anticancer properties in different types of cancers., Methods: In this work, we describe the cytotoxic potential of crotoxin and its subunits compared to doxorubicin (drug of choice) in two canine mammary carcinoma cell lines., Results: Crotoxin, CB-PLA 2 , crotalic venom, and doxorubicin decreased cell viability and the ability to migrate in a dose-dependent manner, and crotapotin did not present an antitumoral effect. For all compounds, the predominant cell death mechanism was apoptosis. In addition, crotoxin did not show toxicity in normal canine mammary gland cells., Conclusion: Therefore, this work showed that crotoxin and CB-PLA 2 had cytotoxic activity, migration inhibition, and pro-apoptotic potential in canine mammary gland carcinoma cell lines, making their possible use in cancer research., Competing Interests: Competing interests: The authors declare that they have no competing interests.
