Proximal tibiofibular joint (PTFJ) dislocation is a rare but significant traumatic knee injury that often goes undetected due to its subtle presentation and the rarity of the condition. It accounts for less than 1% of all knee injuries, making it an uncommon diagnosis in clinical practice. Despite its rarity, the implications of missing this injury can be profound, leading to chronic pain, instability, and potential nerve damage if not appropriately managed.Effective management, from closed reduction to open reduction, requires awareness from both clinicians and radiologists.In this case report, we present the clinical presentation, radiological investigations, treatment, and outcome of a 38-year-old woman who presented with a painful left knee following a domestic accident. The diagnosis of anterolateral tibiofibular dislocation was confirmed through careful clinical and radiological assessment. This case underscores the critical importance of early recognition and appropriate management of this uncommon knee injury to prevent long-term complications and ensure optimal patient outcomes.By detailing this case, we aim to raise awareness among clinicians about the need for vigilance in diagnosing PTFJ dislocations and to highlight the key steps in the diagnostic and therapeutic process. This case report contributes to the growing body of literature on PTFJ dislocations, emphasizing the clinical and radiological cues that should prompt consideration of this diagnosis.

Posteromedial dislocation of the elbow is a rare entity even exceptional if associated with a lateral condylar fracture. Very few isolated cases are reported in the English literature. We report an additional case of a 14-year-old child admitted for elbow trauma during scholar sport and presented a posteromedial elbow dislocation associated with a fracture of the lateral humeral condyle. The surgical treatment was made by using 3 cortical screws. The results were satisfying including range motion and he has resumed sports activities at 5 months. Elbow dislocation is a rare affection in children. It represents 3% to 6% of elbow injuries. The association of posteromedial elbow dislocation with a Milch type I is remarkably rare. We review the mechanism, classifications, and therapeutic modalities of this injury. Elbow dislocations associated with a lateral condylar fracture are exceptional and need an early reduction followed by an anatomical internal fixation to ensure articular congruity.

This study aims to investigate the feasibility of using D-Mannitol as a phase-change material (PCM) to increase the energy storage capacity and improve the thermomechanical characteristics of the modified bitumen. D-mannitol (Dm) was incorporated into Bitumen (Bm) using a high-speed shearing method. The results showed that the integration of PCM enhanced the physical characteristics of the basic bitumen, with the modified bitumen having a melting point close to that of D-mannitol (Tm = 164 °C). The D-mannitol was found to crystallize during cooling, indicating that it can store or release heat in the latent form. The specific heat capacity of the modified bitumen was proven to increase gradually as the PCM content (2, 4, and 8 wt%) increased. The maximum temperature regulation effect of the modified bitumen was observed when the PCM content reached 8 wt%, resulting in a temperature reduction of up to 9 °C. This study provides a basis for the utilization of D-Mannitol as a form of energy storage in bitumen-based pavement applications.

Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) is a contactless technology that has developed over the 90s and 20th centuries. It employs electromagnetic or electrostatic coupling in the radio frequency part of the electromagnetic spectrum to uniquely identify traceable objects, and is widely used in various sectors (e.g., medical, Supply Chain Management, transportation, and IoT applications.). Through the supply of real-world monitoring and context information about things, the integration of this technology in such areas delivers various benefits in the future of ubiquitous computing. However, one of the primary challenges will be the capacity to manage data since RFID events have specific characteristics and requires special treatment, such as the large volume of data flow, inaccuracy, temporal and spatial data, are typical examples of RFID event data. The goal of this research is to first highlight the concerns and limitations of existing middleware architectures before introducing and implementing a new Middleware architecture to address the identified issues, specifically real-time processing of massive volumes of data coming from physical RFID infrastructure. This middleware combines role-based access control with an encryption algorithm to increase security, a NoSQL database for storing large amounts of data, complex event processing (CEP) to provide high-volume data stream processing, and improved interoperability via the Data Transformation Module. Finally, our architecture is evaluated and compared to several middleware architectures based on standard ISO/IEC 9126 metrics.

Background Lynch syndrome (LS) is an autosomal dominant condition due to the germline mutation in the mismatch repair (MMR) genes including MLH1, MSH2, MSH6, and PMS2 (post-meiotic segregation increased 2). The MMR mutation carriers have high risk for cancers. Pathogenic PMS2 variants are rarely reported in LS-associated colorectal cancer (CRC) with colorectal polyps. The aim of the study was to investigate the genetic etiology of CRC in an individual with CRC with multiple colorectal polyps and a family history of cancers. Patients and Methods The index patient was an African male affected by CRC with multiple colorectal polyps. The clinical diagnostic for LS was based on the Amsterdam II criteria and pedigree. Next-generation sequencing with inherited cancer genes panel was used to detect the pathogenic variant. Results The patient fulfilled the Amsterdam II criteria and the pedigree revealed a family history of recurrent CRC. A deleterious PMS2 germline heterozygous mutation c.2192_2196delTAACT was detected. Conclusion Our study supports the notion that LS may be associated with polyps and shows the predisposition of PMS2 heterozygous mutation in LS-associated CRC at young age.

Background: Malignant peripheral nerve sheath tumor (MPNST) is an uncommon tumor in the head and neck region that develops either from a preexisting neurofibroma or de novo. Observation: We report here a case of MPNST of the buccal mucosa in a 40 years old female whose chief complaint was a recurrent painful nodule. The diagnosis is considered as the most elusive and difficult among soft tissue sarcomas because of its non specific presentation, both clinically and pathologically. Conclusion: This clinical case illustrates the challenge of delivering a pertinent diagnosis of MPNST due to its non-specific presentation both clinically and histopathologically. It also emphasizes the importance of a high level of vigilance when assessing painful mucosal lesions of normal aspect.

The fast depletion of fossil fuels and growing concerns about environmental sustainability have increased interest in using biomass as a renewable energy source. Fast pyrolysis, a thermochemical conversion process, has emerged as a promising technique for converting biomass into valuable biofuels and bio-based chemicals. The aim of this literature review is to comprehensively analyze recent advances in biomass fast pyrolysis, focusing on the principles, process parameters, product yields, and potential applications of biomass fast pyrolysis. This comprehensive review, based on an in-depth analysis of 61 scientific papers and 4 patents, provides an overview of various biomass technologies (combustion, gasification, pyrolysis) used for biofuel production. It focuses on the principles, benefits and applications of these technologies and serves as a valuable resource for researchers, engineers and policy makers. Based on the wealth of information from rigorously selected sources, we explore the key process parameters and reactor types associated with each technology, providing insight into its efficiency and product composition.

Radio frequency identification (RFID) is a contemporary technology that enables the identification of objects and facilitates the transmission of additional information, making it possible to achieve real-time object tracking in a mobile object network and to report information on the object's current state at each step. RFID devices continuously generate large amounts of data, and collecting, filtering, and consolidating these data are therefore crucial tasks, which characterize RFID data management by a set of challenges. However, one of the greatest challenges in this field is managing large volumes of data in complex applications, where real-time operation is vital, given that the volume and speed of RFID data often exceed the capacity of the existing technological infrastructure. The aim of this study is to propose an RFID middleware that manages both the RFID hardware network and the large amounts of data that are captured, in order to process and transmit the collected data under the right conditions for ultimate use by an information system. This new RFID middleware architecture, named BTMiddleware combines complex event processing (CEP) with a MongoDB database to offer large-volume data streaming, processing, and storage in real time, as well as better interoperability thanks to the use of the JavaScript object notation (JSON) format for data presentation. Background: Today, the effect of yoga has been examined on various physical and psychological dimensions of pregnant women. However, there are still sparse studies on the effect of yoga on the uterine artery indices as well as maternal and fetal complications. Objective: The aim was to determine the effect of yoga on uterine artery Doppler indices, maternal and fetal Complications. Materials and methods: This quasi-experiential study was conducted, on 100 pregnant women. The participants were assigned to yoga and control groups. In the yoga group, the participants exercised yoga for 1 h. On the other hand, the control group received routine care. Results: The results showed that in the yoga group, the functional indices of the uterine artery (S/D, PI, RI, and DN) improved more significantly compared to the control (p = 0.01). The results also showed that in the yoga group, maternal complications (diabetes and preeclampsia), as well as fetal complications (SAG, IUGR), were significantly lower compared to the control (p = 0.01). Conclusion: This study revealed the positive effects of yoga on improving fetal development indices and reducing maternal and fetal complications following pregnancy. It can be used as a Complementary therapy alongside other treatments for mothers.

Nasolabial cyst (NLC) is one of the non-odontogenic epithelial cysts of the maxilla. It is rare. It sits at the base of the nostril wing and extends into the inferior nasal meatus and vestibule. The most common presentation is a slowly growing, painless swelling and an effacement of the nasolabial fold. The radiology is not specific and CT scan may be useful. The treatment of choice is surgical removal, which confirms the diagnosis and prevents recurrence.

Desert aerosols suspended in the atmosphere are a very marked fact in West Africa with estimates of 400 to 1000 million tons produced annually and concentrations exceeding 50 µg·m³ in Burkina. In Bamako, the daily dust concentration can go up to reach 504 µg/m³. The Sahara and the Sahel are recognized as the primary desert aerosol producing regions. Source areas continue to be discovered as the desert advances. Previous studies have mainly focused on the spatial and temporal variability of aerosols. The current question is: What makes an area a source of dust emission? Our study brings together all the climatic parameters of the 10–20 band, as well as the soil types and their characteristics; it reveals 4 soils characteristic of fine sandy semi-arid soils in Chad. The Ouadaï plateau in Chad was identified as a source area for dust emissions. We noted for JFM (January, February, March) that the strongest wind intensities were located mainly towards Chad for average rmaximum temperatures around 34.7 °C. The statistical study reveals a correlation of 66.8% between direct and indirect links between the climatic factors of the 10–20 band and the source area. The presence of vortexes throughout the year and a vertical wind profile that is among the strongest in the 10–20 band, this gradient is strongly localized in the grid “10° North, 20° North and 20° East, 30° East” next to the Kapka massif. The study shows that the AEJ (African Easterly Jet) profile, which is a strong wind, associated with the harmattan circulation, allows the transport of aerosols from Ouadaï to the West African coast. In Senegal, a significant deposition was observed.
