3. Contralateral axillary involvement in breast cancer recurrence: locoregional disease or metastasis?

Abstract

The article presents a case study of a 56-year-old woman with a right mammary homolateral recurrence with controlateral axillary invasion. The patient had history of cancer of the right breast. Lymphoscintigraphy showed lymphatic drainage thus contralateral axillary involvement could be considered as locoregional disease with homolateral lymph node involvement. The article discusses contralateral axillary invasion and whether the recurrence is locoregional disease or metastasis.
