Comments. This species inhabits stagnant or slow-flowing waters up to 380 m asl. It was often found amid the same aquatic plants where Sigara (Vermicorixa) lateralis was collected. The presence of the species in Tunisia was considered doubtful by Jansson (1995) and Carapezza (1997). The present records confirm its occurrence in the country. It was collected in lentic habitats and slowflowing regions of lotic environments, especially in areas rich in floating and marginal vegetation or hydrophytes. It is collected in the same locations than Sigara (Vermicorixa) lateralis, and in one case at the same time. Distribution. A specimen of sea lamprey Petromyzon marinus Linnaeus, 1758 was found for the third time off Ras Jebel, in the Gulf of Tunis, northern Tunisia. The specimen is described with morphometric measurements, while the species occurrence in the area and the Mediterranean Sea is discussed and commented. Additionally, sea lamprey remains an occasional visitor in the Tunisian waters and, consequently, the occurrence of a breeding population seems unlikely.

Diet of common torpedo, Torpedo torpedo (Linnaeus, 1758) was studied in relation to sex, size and seasons from specimens collected in the Lagoon of Bizerte, a brackish area located in northeastern Tunisia (central Mediterranean). Of the 565 stomach contents examined between May 2010 and April 2011, 425 were empty, with vacuity index (VI) = 75.22%, percentage that significantly changed with sex. Only fourteen different taxa were recorded: 7 were osteichthyans, while crustaceans, annelids, cephalopods, and gasteropods were only represented each one by a single taxon. The dominant preys were osteichthyans, with %IRI = 41.74, among them gobiids were mainly found, as a consequence of feeding strategies observed in common torpedos. The trophic level (Troph) of 3.78 calculated for T. torpedo was high and pointed out that the species is a top carnivorous predator; additionally, no significant changes were recorded in Troph values related to sex, size and seasons.

Diagnosis of Alainites sadati Larva: General colouration medium brown. Antennae close to each other separated by a small carina. Mouthparts: prostheca on the right mandible reduced to two thin bristles. Legs: margin of femora and tibia in the forelegs with stout bristles. Hindwing pads present. Six pairs of gills. Tergites and sternites slightly reticulated. Extension of the paraprocts covered by small spines. Imago: Forewing hyaline with hyaline venation and double intercalary veins. Hindwing with a broad and short costal spur; three longitudinal veins, second vein bifurcated in proximal half, additional veinlets present. Abdominal colouration uniformly dark brown. Food and feeding habits of the small-spotted catshark, Scyliorhinus canicula (Linnaeus, 1758) from the northern coast of Tunisia (central Mediterranean) were studied in relation to sex, size and seasons. Of the 1125 stomach contents examined between March 2009 and February 2010, only 150 were empty, with vacuity index VI = 13.33%, percentage that significantly changed with sex. Eight zoological groups were identified in the food of this predator species: osteichthyans, crustaceans, cephalopods, gastropods, polychaets, sipunculids, chondrichthyans and echinoderms. Osteichthyans were the most ingested with an index of relative importance (%IRI) reaching 212.44, with Sardina pilchardus (Walbaum, 1792) as main prey (%IRI = 21.82). However, the large decapod Parapenaeus longirostris (Lucas, 1847) was the prey species most consumed with %IRI = 126.87. Limited changes related to size and seasons were observed in food spectrum. The trophic level (Troph) of 3.93 calculated for S. canicula was high and pointed out that the species is a top carnivorous predator; additionally, no significant changes were recorded in Troph values related to size and seasons.

Investigations conducted off the northern Tunisian coast (central Mediterranean) allow the authors to collect a juvenile female of the Almaco Jack, Seriola rivolianaValenciennes, 1833. The specimen is described in this note, including morphometric measurements and meristic counts. It is the first record of S. rivoliana in Tunisian marine waters and the third for the Mediterranean Sea.

An abnormal common torpedo Torpedo torpedo (Linnaeus, 1758) was caught in the Lagoon of Bizerte, brackish water area located in Northern Tunisia. The specimen was an adult male, 260 mm in total length and 129 g in mass. It presented a lack of the fifth gill-slit on the left side and weighed considerably less than normal males of the same size class, reflecting the role of this abnormality in the life of the specimen, probably in homeostasis. A review of all cases of abnormalities in torpedinids shows the scarcity of records for these species.
