The use of aqueous extracts in concentrations of 5% and 15% of the northern Sahara Cleome arabica, has tracked their effect on the first larval stage of Ectomyeloisceratoniae under controlled conditions. It has been demonstrated that the mortality rate increases with the concentration of the extract, and as a function of time, we noted the most important mortality rate (82.2%) after 7 days of treatment under the effect 15% of the extract. The minimum lethal time (8.91jours) was recorded with the aqueous extract of Cleome arabica to 15%. The results of this study demonstrate that certain compounds of C. arabica may be useful in the development of bio-insecticides. for use in the integrated management of the fight against Ectomyelois. ceratoniae. Background: To determine the effects of informing smokers of their spirometric lung-age (SLA) on smoking cessation (SC) rates and tobacco consumption., Research Design and Methods: An interventional study was conducted in real-life through a humanitarian event led by the Red Crescent on 9 January 2022, in Hammam-Sousse (Sousse, Tunisia). The study comprised four steps: i) Medical questionnaire (general questionnaire, Fagerström test for cigarette dependence, SC motivation questionnaire); ii) Measurement of spirometric data; iii) SLA estimation and its announcement to participants; and iv) Self-reported evaluation of smoking behavior three months later through telephonic recall. Smokers were divided into groups (nondependent vs. dependent groups and insufficient/moderate motivation vs. high/very high motivation groups) and categories (ceased smoking, reduced consumption, maintained stable or increased consumption)., Results: Fifty-two smokers were included (94% were males). Three months after the event, i) 9 (17%) smokers ceased smoking, ii) 39 (75%) smokers reduced their daily smoking consumption by 12 ± 8 cigarettes/day, and iii) 4 (8%) smokers maintained stable ( n  = 3) or increased ( n  = 1) consumption., Conclusions: Informing smokers of their SLA led 92% of them to cease smoking or reduce their consumption. Announcing SLA could be an effective motivational tool and an easy-to-understand concept to help smokers cease their habit.

Q fever is a widespread zoonotic disease caused by Coxiella burnetii that most commonly infects not only a variety of mammals but also arthropods and in particularly ticks. The aim of this study was to detect C. burnetii infection in camels including ixodid ticks using serological and molecular assays. Between July 2018 to June 2019, blood samples from 184 male and female camels (Camelus dromedarius) were collected from 3 regions of South-East Algeria and serum samples were tested for antibodies against Coxiella burnetii using indirect enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) kit. The positive sera and a total of 60 ticks were tested by quantitative PCR (qPCR) for detection of C. burnetii with primers and probes specific to the transposon-like repetitive region (IS1111 gene). Positive samples were genotyped by amplification and sequencing of partial sequences based on the IS1111 gene. The seroprevalence of antibodies against C. burnetii was 75.5%. Statistical analysis pointed out three potential risk factors associated with Q fever infection: geographic location, age class and season. No positive DNA of camel blood sample was observed. However, five Hyalomma dromedarii, one H. impeltatum and one H. excavatum tick species were detected positive for Coxiella burnetii DNA by qPCR, with an overall prevalence rate of 11.66% (7/60). The revealed Algerian strains by phylogenetic and comparative analysis of the IS1111 nucleotide sequences were clustered with several pathogenic C. burnetii strains isolated from ticks, human, and cattle located in Tunisia, Greece and in some Mediterranean countries, respectively. The literature suggests that cannabis use and schizotypal traits both constitute risk factors for the later development of schizophrenia. However, their interrelationships remain to be evaluated. The present study examined the association between cannabis use and schizotypal traits in 232 healthy students who ranged in age from 18 to 25 years. All the students had completed the Schizotypal Personality Questionnaire and four of the Chapman Psychosis Proneness Scales: the Magical Ideation Scale; the Perceptual Aberration Scale; the Revised Physical Anhedonia Scale; and the Revised Social Anhedonia Scale. Subjects were divided into three groups according to cannabis use typology: those who had never used cannabis, those who were past or occasional users, and those who were regular users. Higher scores on the Schizotypal Personality Questionnaire and the Magical Ideation Scale characterized the regular and past or occasional users compared with those who had never used cannabis. The co-occurrence of cannabis use and schizotypal traits appeared to be independent of anxiety and depression dimensions. These data suggest that cannabis use and schizotypal traits have to be jointly considered in further longitudinal studies of schizophrenia risk factors.

Most of existing self-report measures of schizotypal personality assess only few of the nine traits of Schizotypal Personality Disorder (SPD) according to DSM III-R or DSM IV. The Raine's Schizotypal Personality Questionnaire (SPQ) is one of the most widely used questionnaire for SPD diagnosis. This well adapted tool for screening SPD in large samples from general population allows simple and quick evaluations by the mean of 74 items and nine sub-scales exploring DSM IV criteria of the trouble. With the original sample of American students, Raine found SPQ to have high internal reliability (0.91) and reported cutoffs for the top and the bottom ten percents of SPQ scores at respectively 41/74 and 12/74. We reported here the validation study of the French version of the SPQ in a sample of 232 students (males: n = 107; females: n = 125; mean age: 21.17 +/- 1.47; mean educational level: 13.36 +/- 1.06). The French version has high internal reliability (SPQ total: Cronbach's alpha = 0.91; SPQ nine subscales: Cronbach's alpha = 0.57 to 0.76). The ten percent high and low cutoff scores on the distribution of SPQ scores are respectively 40/74 and 7/74 for the total sample. However, gender differences are observed: 38/74 and 9/74 for females; 42/74 and 6/74 for males. A Principal Component Analysis (PCA) confirms the high internal reliability. Moreover, PCA evidences a three-factor model of schizotypy reflecting "positive or cognitive-perceptual", "negative or social-interpersonal", and "disorganization" latent factors. These results replicate previous works on the topic with the same instrument.

Chapman and colleagues have developed symptom-oriented scales based on Meehl's manual of schizotypy, such as the Social Anhedonia (SA) and Physical Anhedonia (PhA) Scales, the Magical Ideation Scale (MIS), and the Perceptual Aberration Scale (PAS). Whereas Chapman's scales of psychosis proneness are the most internationally used instruments for the assessment of schizotypy, some of them, such as MIS and PAS, were still not available in French. We reported here the validation study of the MIS and the PAS French versions that we had published previously. This study was conducted in a sample of 233 students (males: n = 108; females: n = 125; mean age: 21.17 +/- 1.47; mean educational level: 13.36 +/- 1.06). The French versions of the MIS and the PAS have high internal reliability (MIS: Cronbach's alpha = 0.85; PAS: Cronbach's alpha = 0.88). French norms are given for each of these scales. They are respectively 19/30 for the MIS and 17/35 for the PAS high cutoff scores without any difference when gender was considered. These results are very closed to those found by Chapman and colleagues for University of Wisconsin undergraduate students.
