Abstract

Current conditions and problems of foreign policy determine the problem of food provision for the population as the most important. This problem is of paramount strategic importance for the country, since food security is one of the main indicators of the quality of life. Agriculture is faced with the task of determining the volume of production, taking into account the level of monetary incomes, purchasing power, effective demand for agricultural products, raw materials and food, the production potential of agriculture and manufacturing in the region, the dynamics of the price of agricultural products and the availability of spare products. As a tool for agricultural production planning, it is proposed to use a one-dimensional time series model and construct an additive time series model. As a result, the authors calculated three variants of the forecast of consumption of the main types of food products, which take into account: scientifically based nutrition norms; methodological recommendations for calculating the subsistence level in the regions of the Russian Federation; actual level of consumption. The calculations showed a high degree of reliability of the planned indicators and the availability of an acceptable level of income. The proposed methods allow planning the production, import and consumption of some types of agricultural products.

32. Central obesity in the adult populations of the Altai Republic and the Republic of Tuva. Anthropological and genetic aspects

Abstract

In the present study, we identified the factors affected central obesity prevalence in the adult Altains, Russians and Tuvans permanently residing in the Altai and the Tuva Republics. The data was collected in 2018–2020. The examination program included anthropometrical examination and the genetic testing of females and males, aged 18–35 years. Anthropometrical examination was carried out in accordance with the guidelines accepted in the Research Institute and Museum of Anthropology. Body composition was analyzed by bioelectrical impedance analyzer. The SNPs rs1800592 UCP1, rs660339 UCP2 and rs1800849 UCP3 were assessed. The prevalence analyses of underweight, overweight and general obesity in the groups of female and males were conducted. The anthropometric indices were used to estimate the prevalence of central obesity. General obesity occurred more often in the group of Altai people, whereas in the Tuva people the central obesity is more pronounced. The Altai and Tuva people are alike in the total body measurements, whereas Russians were significantly higher. All studied groups demonstrated the sexual dimorphism of the body composition and waist to hip ratio. No significant differences in waist to height ratio between males and females were identified in the studied groups. No association between genetic variants and the obesity-related traits, which reflect the body fat and its distribution, was revealed. All factors included in the model are able to predict 8 % of the variability of the central obesity-related traits. Ethnic background contributes the most to the variability of the central obesity index.

46. Association of the EPAS1gene G/A polymorphism with successful performance in a group of Russian wrestlers

Abstract

A large number of studies have shown that the EPAS1gene may serve as a possible predictor of success in sports because of its influence on the processes of oxygen transportation and consumption. However, the data concerning the impact of EPAS1polymorphisms on sports achievements in the contemporary research literature are very scarce and contradictory. The aim of the present paper is to study the genetic selection for the polymorphic system of the EPAS1(rs1867785) gene in a group of male sambo practitioners. The study is carried out on 312 Russian males from 18 to 30 years of age, including 220 professional athletes and 92 non-athletes, who served as the control group. The genotype for a single-nucleotide G/A polymorphism of the EPAS1gene is determined for each participant of the study. Analysis of the EPAS1genotype frequencies revealed statistically significant differences between the two groups. The group of professional athletes exhibited an increase of the ААand AGgenotype frequencies (χ2= 8.68, p= 0.01). Thus, sambo wrestlers of high professional levels are characterized by having the minor А-allele of the EPAS1gene in their genotypes. The odd ratio (OR) calculated for this group is 1.800 (95% CI 1.227–2.641), demonstrating that the carriers of the А-allele of the EPAS1gene have some advantage over the carriers of the G-allele. OR for the highest ranked wrestlers is even higher, 1.990 (95% CI 1.195–3.313). These results suggest directed genetic selection in the А-allele carriers of the EPAS1 gene among sambo wrestlers.

Abstract

In connection with the COVID-19 pandemic, university education has undergone dramatic changes, resulting in a justified increase in the need for the development of distant learning. Today, information technology is an invaluable part of the learning process around the world. The purpose of this article is to analyze positive and negative aspects of applying information and communication technologies to the process of teaching foreign languages to students of mining specialties. The ways of solving the problems, identified in the discipline "Foreign language" in the course of the practical implementation of distance learning, are outlined. The possibilities of using such information tools as video lectures, video conferences, electronic coursebooks, computer testing are considered. Particular attention is devoted to the Moodle course management system as the most effective technology contributing to the formation of the language skills of future mining engineers. The authors come to the conclusion that each of the considered innovative educational technologies has a number of undeniable advantages, thus having a positive impact on both teachers and students. The recommendations developed by the authors provide a means for improving pedagogical design at the level of both individual teachers and universities.
