The Sveconorwegian late-orogenic magmatism of southern Norway (970-916. Ma) consists of two magmatic suites: the Hornblende-Biotite-Granitoids (HBG) suite and the Anorthosite-Mangerite-Charnockite (AMC) suite of the Rogaland Anorthosite Province (RAP), characterized by opx-bearing lithologies. The Farsund body comprises elements of both suites that display mingling relationships. The main facies, mostly charnockitic, contains orthopyroxene whereas a subordinate granitic facies comprises hornblende and biotite. U-Pb (zircon) isotopic data show overlapping ages of 931. ±. 2. Ma for the charnockitic facies and 926. ±. 4. Ma for the granitic facies. Both facies display similar extent of differentiation demonstrating that the granitic facies was not derived by fractionation from the charnockitic one. Mineralogical, geochemical and petrological data indicate that the charnockitic facies belongs to the AMC suite and the granitic facies, to the HBG suite. Strontium, Nd and Pb isotopic data show that the Farsund intrusion was emplaced at the boundary between two different lithotectonic units that are separated by the Farsund-RAP shear zone. This shear zone likely favored the emplacement of the magmas. The article first estimates models of mode choice and average trip length for 239 diverse mixed-use developments in six diverse regions. It then applies these models to twelve Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design for Neighborhood Development (LEED-ND) pilot projects to predict approximate vehicle miles of travel (VMT) per person trip. Finally, it compares LEED-ND values to regional average values from the National Household Travel Survey. The VMT per person trip, for LEED-ND projects, ranges from 24 to 60 percent of the respective regional averages. The most urban and centrally located projects tended to achieve the highest alternative mode shares and the lowest private vehicle trip lengths.

For two genetic polymorphisms in the gene (CDH1) promoter, a reduced transcription has been reported: a C/A single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) and a G/GA SNP at -160 bp and -347 bp, respectively, upstream of the transcriptional start site. We studied the association between both polymorphisms and the risk of bladder cancer. METHODS: One hundred and ninety-seven patients with bladder cancer and 344 population controls were genotyped and haplotyped for both SNPs. RESULTS: A borderline significantly increased risk for bladder cancer was found for A allele carriers (OR 1.36; 95% CI: 0.96-1.94). We did not find any association between the -347 G/GA SNP and bladder cancer. Haplotype analyses did not yield much stronger associations with bladder cancer than the -160 C/A genotype analyses. CONCLUSION: This study supports earlier suggestions that the -160 C/A SNP in the CDH1 promoter is a risk factor for bladder cancer.

The therapeutic effect and safety of alprazolam and doxepin were studied in 126 outpatients suffering from primary unipolar depression. The 6-week study was double-blind with a random allocation of treatment. Patients were treated with a flexible dose of 1.0-4.5 mg of alprazolam and 50-225 mg of doxepin per day. The mean final doses were 2.7 mg for alprazolam and 137.5 mg for doxepin. The results indicate that alprazolam and doxepin were equally efficacious. The effect of CaO and MgO, with or without TiO2 and P2O5, on the two-melt field in the simplified system Fe2SiO4-KAlSi3O8-SiO2 has been experimentally determined at 1,050°-1,240°C, 400MPa. Despite the suppressing effect of MgO, CaO, and pressure on silicate melt immiscibility, our experiments show that this process is still viable at mid-crustal pressures when small amounts (0.6-2.0wt%) of P2O5 and TiO2 are present. Our data stress that the major element partition coefficients between the two melts are highly correlated with the degree of polymerisation (nbo/t) of the SiO2-rich melt, whatever temperature, pressure, or exact composition. Experimental immiscible melt compositions in natural systems at 0.1MPa from the literature (lunar and tholeiitic basalts) plot on similar but distinct curves compared to the simplified system. These relations between melt polymerisation and partition coefficients, which hold for a large range of compositions and fO2, are extended to various volcanic and plutonic rocks. This analysis strengthens the proposal that silicate melt immiscibility can be important in volcanic rocks of various compositions (from tholeiitic basalts to lamprophyres). However, the majority of proposed immiscible compositions in plutonic rocks are at least not coexisting melts, but may have suffered accumulation of early crystallized minerals
