Objective: This study was carried out to determine the relationship of infant mortality with socio-demographical characteristics and prenatal-natal service utility. Materials and Methods: The case control study was carried out in Konya province in 2007. The infants of whom provincial directorate of health was informed as dead during a year were the case group; the infants who were selected via one-to-one correspondence method, born alive and still live were the control group. Addresses of 541 infants were visited to gain the consent of mothers and information was collected via survey. Besides, infant and child monitoring forms, household determination form of the family, pregnant and puerperal monitoring forms were evaluated. Information about 444 cases and controls in total was gathered except for the ones that could not be reached due to various reasons. Results: Of 444 infants who were dead in a year in Konya province and whose families and records could be reached 57.0% were male, 43.0% female, and 64.4% were dead early neonatal, 7.9% late neonatal and 27.7% post neonatal. Of the mothers of the dead infants 4.1% were at age 18 and under, 14.6% at age 35 and over. Infant mortality was correlated with low birth weight, not paying home visits during pregnancy, 4 and more pregnancies, kin marriage and pregnancy gap being less than 2 years. No relationship between other demographical and fertility characteristics and infant death was determined. Result: It was found out that to develop the number and quality of monitoring in pregnancy, and to hinder consanguineous marriage and extreme fertility may decrease infant mortality., Amaç: Bu çalısma, bebek ölümlerinin sosyodemografik özellikler ve prenatal-natal saglık hizmet alımı ile iliskisinin belirlenmesi amacıyla yapıldı. Gereç ve Yöntem: Bu vaka kontrol çalısması, Konya ilinde 2007 yılında yapıldı. Bir yıl boyunca il saglık müdürlügüne bildirimi yapılan ölen bebekler vaka grubu, birebir eslesme yöntemiyle seçilen ve canlı dogup halen yasayan bebekler kontrol grubu olarak alındı. 541 bebegin adresine gidildi, annesinin onamı alınarak anket yardımıyla bilgi toplandı. Ayrıca, her bebegin bebek ve çocuk izlem fisi ile ailesinin ev halkı tespit fisi, annesinin gebe ve logusa izlem fisi incelendi. Çesitli sebeplerle ulasılamayan vakalar dısında, hakkında bilgi toplanabilen vaka ve kontrol sayısı 444\'er olarak gerçeklesti. Bulgular: Konya ilinde bir yıl içinde ölen, ailesine ve dogum öncesi kayıtlarına ulasılabilen 444 bebegin %57.0\'si erkek, %43.0\'ü kız olup, %64.4\'ü erken neonatal, %7.9\'u geç neonatal ve %27.7\'si postneonatal ölüm idi. Ölen bebeklerin annelerinin %4.1\'i 18 yas ve altı, %14.6\'sı 35 yas ve üzeri idi. Bebek ölümlülügünün düsük dogum agırlıgı, gebelikte ev ziyareti yapılmaması, 4 ve üzeri gebelik, akraba evliligi ve gebelik aralıgının iki yıldan az olması ile iliskisi belirlendi. Diger demografik ve dogurganlık özellikleriyle bebek ölümü arasında iliski saptanamadı. Sonuç: Gebelikte izlemlerin sayı ve niteliginin gelistirilmesinin, akraba evliliginin ve asırı dogurganlıgın azaltılmasının bebek ölümlerini azaltabilecegi kanısına varıldı.

Amaç: Bu çalışma, bir Üniversite ve bir Sağlık Bakanlığı hastanesinde hemşirelik hizmeti verenlerin hangi motivasyon araçlarına önem verdiklerini belirlemek amacıyla yapıldı. Yöntem: Örneklem, her kliniği ve her vardiyayı temsil edecek şekilde belirlendi (n202). Veriler araştırmaya katılanların sosyo-demografik ve çalışma özelliklerini belirlemeye yönelik veri toplama formu ve Motivasyon Araçları Önem Derecesi Formu kullanarak elde edildi. Bulgular: Kullanılan forma göre genel olarak hemşirelerin en çok önem verdikleri motivasyon araçları “iş güvencesi”, “sosyal güvence” ve “yöneticilerinin değer vermesi” iken, en az önem verilen üç motivasyon aracı “rekabetin olduğu bir iş dalında çalışma”, “sendikal faaliyetlerin işletmece önemsenmesi” ve “iş dışında çalışma arkadaşlarıyla ortak yönlerinin olması” olarak tespit edildi. Sonuç: İş güvencesinin sağlanması ve yöneticilerce kendilerine değer verilmesi gibi araçlardan yararlanılarak hemşirelerin mesleki motivasyonlarının artırılabileceği önerilebilir., Aim: The study was performed to determine what motivation instruments nurses give importance in a university hospital and another one depending on the Ministry of Health. Method: The study was included 202 nurses selected each department and shift from university and state hospital. Data were obtained using a questionnaire related socio-demographic features and working conditions of the participants and The Questionnaire of the Significance of Motivation Instruments. Results: While the most significant motivation instruments nurses give importance are “job assurance”, “social security” and “appreciated by employers”, it was observed that the least three significant motivation instruments given importance by nurses are “working in a field where there is competence”, “given importance to the activities of the unions by the company” and “the existence of common points with other employees out of the work”. Conclusion: By using the instruments such as the determinations of job insurance and appreciated by employers, it was considered that working motivation of nurses may be increased.

Amaç: Epizyotomi, birçok hastanede primigravidalarda sıklıkla uygulanmaktadır. Epizyotomi bakımında standart bir uygulama yoktur. Bu çalışma ile serum fizyolojik (SF) ve rivanolün epizyotominin iyileşme süreci ve perine ağrısı üzerindeki etkisinin karşılaştırılması amaçlandı. Hastalar ve Yöntemler: Bu çalışma vajinal doğum yapan 60 primipar üzerinde yapıldı. Veri toplama sürecinde katılım koşullarına uygun, ilk 30 annenin epizyotomi bakımında rivanol kullanıldı (Grup 1). Grup 2'de ise SF kullanıldı. İlk veriler postpartum ilk dört saat içinde hastanede toplandı. 7., 14., 21. günlerdeki değerlendirmeler için anneler hastaneye davet edildi. Epizyotomi yarası REEDA skoru ile, ağrı ise Görsel Analog Skala ile değerlendirildi. Bulgular: Epizyotomi iyileşme sürecinde İki grup arasında toplam REEDA skoru yönünden 7., 14. ve 21. günlerde SF lehine fark saptandı. Ağrı bakımından 21. günde SF grubunda fark saptandı. Sonuç: Bu çalışmanın sonuçlarına göre epizyotomi yarasının iyileşmesinde SF rivanolden daha etkili bulunmuştur. Bu sebeple epizyotomi bakımında yara iyileşme sürecine yan etkisi bulunmayan ve bir kimyasal olmayan SF kullanımı önerilir., Objectives: Episiotomy is frequently performed in primigravidas in many hospitals. No standard application exists in episiotomy care. This study aimed to compare the effect of serum physiological (SP) and rivanol on the process of recovery and perineal pain during episiotomy care. Patients and Methods: The study was conducted with 60 primiparous women. During the process of data collection, rivanol was used for episiotomy care of the first 30 mothers who met the inclusion criteria (Group 1). Serum physiological was used in Group 2. The first data were collected in the first four hours of the postpartum in the hospital. Mothers were invited to the hospital for the evaluations on 7th, 14th, and 21st days. Episiotomy wound was evaluated with REEDA score and pain with Visual Analog Scale. Results: In episiotomy healing process, there was a difference between groups in favor of SP according to total scores of REEDA on the 7th, 14th and 21st days. There was a difference in SP group with respect to pain on the 21st day. Conclusion: According to the results of this study, SP was found to be more effective than rivanol in episiotomy healing. Therefore, the use of SP, which is non-chemical and has no side effects to the healing process, is suggested in episiotomy care.

Objectives: We aimed to determine possible changes in pruritus, quality of life, depression and sleep quality in pruritic hemodialysis (HD) patients with gabapentin therapy. Patients and Methods: Fourteen adult HD patients (7 men, 7 women; mean age 59.7±17.2 years; range 41 to 88 years) with history of pruritus of more than eight weeks were assigned to receive 8-week gabapentin (300 mg per day) therapy. The daily pruritus were recorded using visual analogue scale for each period of the study during one week preceding the trial, the active treatment phase, the placebo phase and the intervening 1-week washout period. Sleep quality was determined with a modified post-sleep inventory, quality of life with a short form of Medical Outcomes Study (SF-36), depression using the Beck Depression Inventory. Results: The mean pruritus score and total of post-sleep inventory were decreased significantly with gabapentin therapy (p=0.01 and p=0.002 respectively). Physical and mental component scales of SF-36 increased, whereas cognitive and somatic depression index decreased with gabapentin. Conclusion: We concluded that beneficial effects of gabapentin therapy on pruritus, quality of life, depression and sleep quality are clinically important in HD patients with pruritus. Gabapentin therapy should be taken into account as an important choice of therapy in pruritic HD patients. Amaç: Gabapentin tedavisi ile kaşıntı şikayeti olan hemodiyaliz (HD) hastalarında kaşıntı, yaşam kalitesi, depresyon ve uyku kalitesindeki olası değişiklikleri tespit etmeyi amaçladık. Hastalar ve Yöntemler: Sekiz haftadan daha uzun süreli kaşıntı öyküsü olan 14 HD hastasına (7 erkek, 7 kadın; ort. yaş 59.7±17.2; dağılım 41-88) günde 300 mg gabapentin 8 hafta süre ile verildi. Çalışma öncesi 1 hafta, aktif tedavi fazı, plasebo fazı ve araya giren 1 haftalık temizlenme fazı esnasında görsel analog ölçeği kullanılarak günlük kaşıntı skorları kaydedildi. Uyku kalitesi modifiye uyku-sonrası kaydı ile, yaşam kalitesi Tıbbi Sonuç Çalışması Kısa Form-36 şekli (SF-36) ile ve depresyon da Beck Depresyon kaydı kullanılarak değerlendirildi. Bulgular: Gabapentin tedavisi ile ortalama kaşıntı skorunda ve toplam uyku-sonrası kaydı skorunda anlamlı derecede düşüş gözlendi (sırasıyla p=0.01 ve p=0.002). SF-36'nın fiziksel ve mental komponent skorları gabapentin tedavisi ile artarken, bilişsel ve somatik depresyon indeksleri gabapentin ile azaldı. Sonuç: Gabapentin tedavisi kaşıntı şikayeti olan hemodiyaliz hastalarında kaşıntı, yaşam kalitesi, depresyon ve uyku kalitesi üzerinde klinik olarak önemli yararlı etkilere sahiptir. Gabapentin tedavisi kaşıntısı olan hemodiyaliz hastalarında önemli bir tedavi seçeneği olarak göz önünde bulundurulmalıdır.

Objective: The purpose of this study was to estimate the level of patient satisfaction with health center services and related factors. Methods: This study was performed on eight randomly selected health centers in urban areas of Ankara and Konya by interviewing patients who were about to go home after examination. The questionnaire consisted of demographic data and a four-point rating scale of 13 items measuring the satisfaction of outpatients. The chi-square test was used to assess differences in proportions. Results: Satisfaction score was 3.11 ± 0.41 and 70% of the patients were satisfied with the patient care of health centers. The level of satisfaction was related to educational level and age. The ratio of satisfaction was very high regarding the courtesy of physicians and nurses, but was the lowest with regards to technical adequacy. In general, outpatients were satisfied with health centers, and described them as humane. Conclusion: The complaints of patients should be taken into consideration by the administration and staff of health centers.

Bu çalışma, Konya ilinde toplumun temel sağlık konularındaki bilgi düzeyinin zaman içindeki değişimini irdelemek amacıyla yapıldı., This study was performed to determine the changes in knowledge level of the population about primary health care during a period in Konya.

Toplumda yapılacak sağlık eğitimi gerçek ihtiyaçlara dayanmalıdır. Bunun yolu toplumdan bilgi toplamaktır. Bu çalışma, Konya ilinde yetişkin toplumun temel sağlık konularındaki bilgi düzeyinin belirlenmesi amacıyla yapıldı. 2005 yılında yapılan kesitsel tipteki bu saha araştırmasının evreni, Konya ilinde yaşayan toplumdur. Örneklem, büyüklüğe orantılı küme örnekleme yöntemiyle seçildi. Toplumun heterojenitesi dikkate alınarak örnek hacmi büyük (n=1000) tutuldu. Veriler, araştırıcılar tarafından geliştirilen 41 soruluk bir anket aracılığıyla derlendi. Anketör olarak sağlık personelinden yararlanıldı. Bilgi düzeyi, hem bilme oranı hem de puana dönüştürülerek ortalama ve standart sapma şeklinde betimlendi. Katılımcıların % 67’si kadın, %77’si 25-64 yaş arasında, % 60'ı ilköğrenim mezunu, % 84’ü evli ve % 63'ü ev hanımı idi. Temel sağlık konularında doğru cevap alma oranı % 1,9 ile % 75,8 arasında değişmekteydi (ortalama % 38,4). Bilgi puanı ortalaması İse100 üzerinden 48.2±14.8 bulundu. Sağlık bilgi puanının kadınlarda ve evlilerde daha yüksek olduğu, öğrenim düzeyi yükseldikçe ve kırdan kente gidildikçe arttığı, buna karşılık yaş ilerledikçe azaldığı belirlendi. Toplumun temel sağlık konularında bilgi düzeyi orta derecededir ve bazı demografik özelliklerden etkilenmektedir. Sağlık bilgi düzeyi yönünden kadın-erkek, kır-kent, evli-bekâr farkı azaltılmalı, toplumun öğrenim düzeyi yükseltilmelidir.

Interns attitude on breastfeeding and baby-friendly hospitalAim: Promoting awareness is an important pillar in encouraging breastfeeding. This study was carried outto determine the interns level of knowledge and awarenessabout breast milk and baby-friendly hospital .Material and Method: The study was performed on 96 interns in Selcuk university faculty of medicine whoagreed to participate. Fifty seven percent of participants were males. The data were obtained by applyinga questionnaire. Results: The interns rate of correct answers about various properties of breast milk andbreastfeeding varied between 2% and 96%. Only half of the interns knew the correct breastfeeding technique.The percentage of those knew the requirements for baby-friendly hospital was 31%. The rate of awarenessabout the breastfeeding policy of the hospital they study was only 11% among interns. Conclusion: Theknowledge level of interns about breastfeeding practices is low. Increasing knowledge and awareness ofinterns about this subject may contribute to extension and maintaining of breastfeeding in community, Amaç: Anne sütünün teşvikinin önemli bir ayağı farkındalıktır. Bu çalışma intörnlerin “anne sütü” ve “bebek dostu hastane” konularında bilgi ve farkındalık düzeyini belirlemek amacıyla yapıldı. Gereç ve Yöntem: Çalışma, 2010 yılında S.Ü. Meram Tıp Fakültesinde çalışmaya katılmayı kabul eden % 57'si erkek 96 intörn üzerinde yapıldı. Veriler 19 soruluk bir anket formu uygulanarak elde edildi. Bulgular: İntörnlerin anne sütü ve anne sütü ile beslemenin çeşitli özelliklerini % 12-% 89 oranlarında doğru olarak bildikleri belirlendi. İntörnlerin sadece yarısı doğru emzirme tekniğini bilmekteydi. Bebek dostu hastane olunabilmesi için gerekenleri bilenlerin oranı % 31'di. Amaç: Bu betimleyici çalışma, ebelik ve hemşirelik son sınıf öğrencilerinin hasta güvenliği ve tıbbi hatalar hakkındaki bilgi ve tutumlarının değerlendirilmesi amacıyla yapıldı. Yöntem: Araştırma, 2009 yılında Konya'da ebelik ve hemşirelik lisans son sınıf öğrencilerinde uygulandı. Veri toplama sürecinde okulda bulunan 45 ebelik, 50 hemşirelik öğrencisi örnekleme alındı. Veriler 24 soruluk anket formu kullanılarak toplandı. Bulgular: Araştırmaya katılan öğrencilerin yaş ortalaması 221 idi. Ebe ve hemşire adaylarınca, kendileriyle ilgili olarak, % 37'sinin stajları sırasında tıbbi hata yaptıkları, hataların yarıdan çoğunun (% 59) ilaç hataları olduğu, yapılan hataların % 12'sinde hastaların zarar gördüğü, ancak çoğunlukla (% 71) hataları rapor etmedikleri ifade edildi. Staj arkadaşları için ise bu oranları daha yüksek olarak bildirdiler. Tıbbi hataları en sık hekimlerin yaptığı (% 38) belirtildi. Sonuç: Ebe ve hemşire adaylarının tıbbi hata yapma oranı yüksek, hata bildirimi ise düşüktür. Tıbbi hataları önlemede müfredatta hasta güvenliği eğitiminin daha fazla yer alması, hasta güvenliğine katkı sağlayabilir., Objective: The purpose of this descriptive study was to evaluate the attitude of final-year students of midwifery and nursing school on patient safety and medical errors. Methods: The research was conducted on final-year midwifery and nursing students in 2009 in Konya. On the day when the data were collected, 45 midwifery and 50 nursing students were included for the research. A 24 item questionnaire form was used to collect data. Results: Average age of the students who participated in the study was 22±1. Thirty seven percent of the students said that they made medical errors during their clinical training and that 59% of the errors were pharmaceutical errors. They also reported that 12% of the errors fatal errors and that they didn't report the errors they made (71%). Students also reported higher rates for their fellows. It was also found that most frequent medical errors are made by doctors (38%). Conclusion: It was found that the error making rate of midwifery and nursing students were high. To prevent medical errors, it is necessary that education on patient safety is introduced into the midwifery and nursing school curriculum.

Amaç: Çalışmanın amacı, sağlık personelinin ve toplumun tıbbi hatalar konusundaki görüşlerini değerlendirmek ve karşılaştırmaktır. Yöntem: Araştırmanın örneklemini, sağlık çalışanı anketi için, Konya il merkezindeki tüm kamu hastaneleri ve rasgele seçilen 12 sağlık ocağının personeli oluşturdu. Toplum örneklemi için de üç merkez ilçeden dörderden toplam 12 mahalle rastgele seçildi ve küme örnekleme yöntemiyle adreslerinde ulaşıldı. Çalışmaya 156 hekim, 333 hemşire ile toplumdan 240 kişi alındı. Veri toplamada araştırıcılar tarafından geliştirilen Hasta Güvenliği Anketinin sağlık çalışanı ve toplum formları kullanıldı. Bulgular: Sağlık Personelinin % 23’ü ve toplumdaki bireylerin % 22’sinin kendisi veya ailesinden birinin tıbbi hataya maruz kaldığı belirlendi. Tıbbi hataya maruz kalanların sağlık çalışanlarında % 27, toplum % 36’sı ciddi zarar gördüğünü ifade etti. Sağlık çalışanları ve toplumun yarısı tıbbi hatadan dolayı hem hatayı yapan kişiyi hem de kurumu sorumlu tutmaktaydı. Daha güvenli bakım almada hastaların da sorumluluğu olduğu görüşü, sağlık çalışanlarında daha yüksek bulundu. Tıbbi hata sebeplerinin çoğunda hemfikir olmalarına karşılık sağlık çalışanları “uzun çalışma saatleri”ni toplum ise “hekimlerin hastalara yeterince vakit ayırmaması”nı öne çıkarmaktaydı. Sonuç: Sağlık çalışanları ve toplumun önemli bir kısmı önlenebilir tıbbi hatalar sebebiyle zarar görmektedir. Tıbbi hataların sebepleri konusunda toplumun görüşlerinden de yararlanılabilir., Objective: The aim of this study is to compare and assess the opinions of medical staff and community about medical errors. Methods: The sample of the study, for medical personnel survey, consisted of staffs of all public hospitals and 12 randomly selected family health centers in Konya city center. Similarly, for the community sample, adults from 12 randomly selected neighborhoods in three central districts were selected and they were reached in their addresses by cluster sampling method. 156 physician, 333 nurse and 240 people from community were included to the study. Medical staff and community forms of Medical Errors Survey, which was developed by the researchers, were used in data gathering. Results: 23% of the medical personnel and 22% of the individuals from community stated that they or one of their families had been subjected to medical errors. 27% of the subjected medical staff and 36% of the subjected individuals from community expressed that they had received serious harm. Half of the participants considered both the person who made the error and the healthcare facility responsible. The idea that patients also had responsibilities for a safer healthcare was more popular among medical personnel. The both groups agreed on most causes of medical errors although medical personnel emphasized on “long working hours” while the community pointed “inadequate time spared by physicians for patients” as a major cause. Conclusion: A significant part of the medical personnel and the community are being harmed by avoidable medical errors. Increasing the involvement of health service receivers in service process and utilizing their opinions about medical errors for improvement may contribute to decreasing the medical errors.

Amaç: Bu çalışmada, KETEM’e başvuranların yakınlarında öykülenen kanser olgularının demografik görünümünün belirlenmesi ve insidansın tahmin edilmesinde KETEM kayıtlarının kullanılabilirliğinin araştırılması amaçlandı. Yöntem: Bu tanımlayıcı kayıt taraması çalışması, Konya KETEM’de tutulan 2007-2010 yıllarına ait kayıtlar üzerinde 2011 yılında gerçekleştirildi. KETEM’in elektronik ortamdaki verilerinden çalışma için gerekli olanları süzülerek ve kişisel bilgilerden arındırılarak, otomasyon birim yetkilisinin gözetiminde Excel dosyası formatında elde edildi. Bulgular: Konya KETEM’e 2007-2010 yıllarında başvuran toplam 21802 kişinin yaş ortalaması 4412 yıl olup, % 94’ü kadındı. Başvurular en çok Mart-Nisan aylarında yapılmış olup başvuru sayısı yıllar içinde azalmaktaydı. Meme, serviks, cilt, kolon ve prostat panellerinde olmak üzere 21802 kişide toplam 46548 tarama yapıldı. Taramaya katılanlardan 6556’sında (% 30) aile ve yakın akrabasında kanser öyküsü olduğu saptandı. En sık ifade edilen kanserler akciğer, meme ve kolon kanserleriydi. En sık kanser öyküsü verilen yakınlar, baba, anne ve kardeş idi. Yakınlarında kanser bildirimi sigara içme durumu, menopoz durumu, son gebelik yaşı ve toplam emzirme süresi ile ilişkili bulundu. KETEM kayıtlarından elde edilen kanser türlerinin dağılımı ulusal kanser kayıtlarındaki dağılımla ile uyumluydu. Sonuç: KETEM’e başvuranların üçte birinin ailesi veya yakın akrabası kanser öyküsüne sahiptir ve en sık bildirilen kanserler meme ve akciğer kanseridir. KETEM kayıtları toplumun kanser haritasının çıkarılmasına ve insidans hesaplarına katkı sağlayabilir., Objective: In this study, researching the utilization of KETEM records in estimating the incidence and determining the demographic view of cancer incidents reported in relatives of people who applied to KETEM is aimed. Methods: This descriptive record scanning study was performed on the records on 2007-2010 kept in Konya KETEM, in 2011. The necessary information for study was skimmed from the KETEM’s data on electronic medium and transformed into an Excel file under the supervision of electronic record technician without using personal information. Results: Mean age of 21802 people who had applied to Konya KETEM in 2007-2010 was 4412 and 94% of them were females. Applications were mostly made in March-April and their numbers decreased as the years passed. Totally, 46548 scanning were made on 21802 people about breast, cervix, skin, colon and prostate panels. 6556 of them (30%) reported cancer story in family and close relatives. Most frequently reported cancer types were lung, breast and colon. The relatives who were most frequently reported to have cancer were father, mother and sibling. Reporting cancer in a relative was related to smoking, menopause, age of last pregnancy and total breastfeeding time. Our findings related frequency of cancers from KETEM records were parallel to national cancer records. Conclusion: One third of KETEM applicants had cancer story in family or close relative and most frequently reported cancer types were breast and lung cancers. KETEM records may contribute to cancer map of population and incidence calculations.

Amaç: Bu araştırmanın amacı, 7-12 yaş çocuklarda piyüri sıklığının demografik özellikler, geçirilmiş üriner enfeksiyon ve okul tuvaletini kullanma durumu ile ilişkisini belirlemektir. Yöntem: Kesitsel tipteki saha çalışması Konya il merkezinde yapıldı. Sosyoekonomik yönden farklı semtlerdeki ilköğretim okullarından basit rasgele yöntemle seçilen ikişer okulun birinci kısım öğrencileri çalışma kapsamına alındı. Örneklem hacmi güç ve küme etkisi dikkate alınarak formülle hesaplandı. Öğrencilerin idrarları analizörle ve mikroskopik olarak incelendi. Bulgular: Çalışmaya alınan 7-12 yaştaki 1035 çocuğun erkek kız oranı 1 olup çocukların % 35’i sosyoekonomik düzeyi iyi, % 36’sı orta ve % 29’u düşük bölgelerdendi. Çocukların % 13’ünde lökositüri kritik değerin üzerindeydi. Bu oran erkeklerde % 2, kızlarda % 25 idi (P0.001). Piyüri ile cinsiyet, önceden üriner enfeksiyon geçirme ve okul tuvaletini kullanma durumu arasında ilişki bulundu. Ailelere göre çocukların % 22’sinde üriner enfeksiyon belirtisi hikayesi vardı ve kızlarda daha yüksek orandaydı (p0.001). Sonuç: Kız çocuklarda üriner enfeksiyon riski yüksektir ve tekrarlayıcıdır. Konuyla ilgili ileri araştırmaların daha erken yaşa kaydırılmasına gereksinim vardır., Objective: The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between pyuria and demographic characteristics, previous urinary tract infection and use of school toilet in primary school children. Methods: This cross-sectional field study was performed in Konya city center. Primary schools were stratified into levels according to socio-economic areas (SEA). Two schools from each SEA were randomly selected for the study. The sample size was calculated taking into account the cluster effect and power. The students’ urine was examined by stick method and microscopic method. Results: The ratio of boys to girls was 1 in the sample, 35% of the children were from high SEA, 36% from moderate and 29% from low SEA. 13% of children had leucocyturia above the critical value. This study was performed to determine the primiparas knowledge level on subjects related infant health and its relationship with their demographic features. This descriptive and cross-sectional study was included 322 primiparas who were delivered in ; Maternity and Child Hospital in ; city-center, in turkey. Data were collected by using a questionnaire which concerns the demographic features, antenatal care and thirty subjects related infant health for measurement of mothers; knowledge level. Of the primiparas, 22% was nineteen years old and lower and educational level of 72% of them was primary school. Mothers; knowledge scores were 44.6+/-12.4 in hundred points in all subjects. There was significant relationship between primiparous mothers educational level, her husbands educational level, number of the antenatal monitoring and total knowledge point related infant health and knowledge scores on infant feeding and infectious diseases. Nominee mothers general educational level must be raised and the frequency of the antenatal monitoring must be increased because primiparas knowledge level on infant health is inadequate in Turkish population., Amaç: Bu çalışma, primipar annelerin bebek sağlığı ile ilgili konularda bilgi düzeylerini ve onların demografik özellikleri ile ilişkisini tanımlamak için yapıldı. Yöntem: Bu tanımlayıcı ve kesitsel çalışma, Konya il merkezinde Dr.Faruk Sükan Doğum ve Çocuk Hastanesinde doğum yapan 322 primi par anneye uygulandı. Veriler demografik özellikler, antenatal bakim ve annelerin bilgi düzeylerini ölçmek için bebek sağlığına ilişkin 30 konu ile ilgili bir soru formu kullanılarak toplandı. Bulgular: Primipar annelerin %22'si 19 yaş ve altında ve %72'sinin eğitim düzeyi ilkokuldu. Annelerin bilgi puanı bütün konularda yüz puan üzerinden 44.6±12.4'dü. Primipar annelerin eğitim düzeyleri, eşlerin eğitim düzeyi, doğum öncesi izlem sayıları ile bebek beslenmesi bilgi puanı, enfeksiyon hastalıkları bilgi puanı ve bebek sağlığına ilişkin toplam bilgi puanı arasında önemli ilişki vardı. Sonuç ve öneriler: Türk toplumunda, primipar annelerin bebek sağlığı hakkında bilgi düzeylerinin yetersizliğinden dolayı anne adaylarının genel öğrenim düzeyleri yükseltilmeli ve doğum öncesi izlem sıklığı artırılmalıdır.

Joint Meeting of the Slovak-Physiological-Society/Physiological-Society/Federation-of-European-Physiological-Societies -- SEP 11-14, 2007 -- Bratislava, SLOVAKIA, WOS: 000277173500001, Objectives: We aimed to determine possible changes in pruritus, quality of life, depression and sleep quality in pruritic hemodialysis (HD) patients with gabapentin therapy. Patients and Methods: Fourteen adult HD patients (7 men, 7 women; mean age 59.7 +/- 17.2 years; range 41 to 88 years) with history of pruritus of more than eight weeks were assigned to receive 8-week gabapentin (300 mg per day) therapy. The daily pruritus were recorded using visual analogue scale for each period of the study during one week preceding the trial, the active treatment phase, the placebo phase and the intervening 1-week washout period. Sleep quality was determined with a modified post-sleep inventory, quality of life with a short form of Medical Outcomes Study (SF-36), depression using the Beck Depression Inventory. Results: The mean pruritus score and total of post-sleep inventory were decreased significantly with gabapentin therapy (p=0.01 and p=0.002 respectively). Physical and mental component scales of SF-36 increased, whereas cognitive and somatic depression index decreased with gabapentin. Conclusion: We concluded that beneficial effects of gabapentin therapy on pruritus, quality of life, depression and sleep quality are clinically important in HD patients with pruritus. Öğrencilerin % 71.9'unun BKİ (Beden Kitle İndeks)'leri normal sınırlarda bulunmuştur. BKİ yönünden cinsiyete göre bir fark gözlenmemiştir, öğrencilerin % 57.3'ü öğün atlamakta, bunların da yandan çoğu (% 57.5'i) sabah kahvaltısını atlamaktadır. Öğrenciler arasında çay tüketenler çoğunlukta olup, süt tüketenler ise az sayıdadır. Yapılan beslenme bilgi testine % 48.6 oranında doğru cevap verilmiştir. Beslenme bilgi düzeyi her iki cinsiyette benzerdir. Öğrencilerin genel beslenme bilgileri ve diyet tedavisi bilgileri aynı düzeyde bulunmuştur. Buna göre, hekim adaylarının genel beslenme ve diyet tedavisi bilgileri yeterli bulunmamıştır. BM of 59 students (72.0%) were in normal range. There was no difference between boys and giriş f ör BMI. Of 57.3% students skipt öne meal-time and more than halfofthat (57,5%) skipt breakfast. Tea consumption was more than milk consumption among students. The nutritional information test was answered correctly \vith a proportion of 48,6%. Nutritional information levels were the same in both sexes. Students' information levels about basic nutrition and diet therapy were the same. Thus, information levels about basic nutrition and diet therapy of interns \vere found inadeguate. Öğrencilerin çoğunluğu (% 65.4-85.8) AiDS'in tanımı, etkeni, bulaşma ve korunma yolları konusunda doğru bilgiye sahipken, hastalığın inkübasyon süresi, HIV'nün özellikleri, AIDS'li hastaya yaklaşımda dikkat edilecek hususlar, Dünya 'da ve Türkiye 'de AİDS vaka sayısı konularında doğru cevap verenlerin oranı oldukça düşüktü (% 10,0-33,4). Ebe adaylarının hemşire ve sağlık memuru adaylarından, ilçelerdeki öğrencilerin il merkezinde olanlardan ve yatılı öğrencilerin gündüzlü öğrencilerden AİDS konusundaki sorulara daha düşük oranda doğru cevap verebildikleri gözlendi. AİDS konusundaki bilgilerini ders kitaplarından elde ettiğini ifade eden öğrencilerin oranı % 41,9'du. Sağlık Meslek Liseleri'nde AİDS konusunda verilen eğitime daha fazla önem verilmesinin, toplumu AİDS'den korumada sağlık personelinin rolünü artıracağı kanısındayız. Abstract The Level of Kııovvledge About AİDS of Last Term Students in Schooi of Health ProfessionThis study was designed to determine the level ofkno\vledge of Schooi of Health Profession students about AİDS. Data were obtained froın 347 of the students by a auestionnaire. Most ofthem answered correctly about description and cause of AİDS, the way of transmission and prevention, but less than 33 % students knew about incubation period of HIV infection and correct attitude to patient with AİDS. The ansvvers about AİDS of the candidates of nurses and health offıcers are more correct than the candidates of midvife; and stili students in province, ~were better than in county and also boarding students were better than daytime students. We believe that more intensive education for students of Schooi of Health Profession vvill be effective to control and prevent AİDS. AMAÇ: Çalışma, zihinsel yetersizliği olan çocukların anne-babalarında kaygı düzeyini ve bilgilendirme ile ilişkisini belirlemek amacıyla yapıldı. YÖNTEM: Bu yarı-deneysel saha araştırması Karaman il merkezinde yaşayan ve zihinsel yetersizliği olan ilköğretim çağı çocukların anne-babalarında yapıldı. İlköğretim alt özel sınıflarına devam edenler hariç, kurumsal hizmet alan ve almayan zihinsel yetersizliği olan çocuk annelerinin tümü (n=91), babalarının ise 13’ü çalışmaya katıldı. Bilgilendirme öncesi ve sonrasında durumluk ve sürekli kaygı ölçeği uygulandı. BULGULAR: Annelerin yaş ortalaması 36,5±7,2, durumluk kaygı puanı 47,2±13,4, sürekli kaygı puanı 51,9±10,1; babalarının yaş ortalaması 40,2±8,6, durumluk kaygı puanı 35,9±6,5, sürekli kaygı puanı 41,3±6,2 idi. Annelerde kaygı puanları daha yüksekti. Annelerden 35 yaşın altında, ilkokul mezunu, çocuğu erkek veya 12 yaşından küçük, sosyal güvencesi olan, yetersizliği olan çocuğu kurumsal hizmet almayan, ilk ya da son çocuğunda yetersizlik olan, aile geliri düşük ve çocuğun bakımında eşinden yardım alamayanlarda bilgilendirme sonrasında kaygı puanlarındaki azalma anlamlı idi. Babalarda ise sadece sürekli kaygı puanındaki azalma anlamlı idi. SONUÇ: Bilgilendirilme zihinsel yetersizlikli çocukların hem anne hem de babalarında kaygı puanını azaltmaktadır. Buna göre, kurumsal hizmet zihinsel yetersizlikli çocukların tümünü kapsamalı ve anne-babalarına hemşire tarafından belli aralıklar ile eğitim ve danışmanlık hizmeti verilerek bilinçlenmelerine ve kaygılarının azaltılmasına yardımcı olunmalıdır. AIM: This study was aimed to determine effect of education on anxiety level in the parents with mentally handicapped children. METHOD: The quasi-experimental field study was performed on parents of 91 mentally handicapped children who are between 6-15 ages and live in the center of Karaman. State and Trait Anxiety Scale was applied before and after informing. RESULTS: Average age of mothers was 36.5±7.2, average state anxiety point was 47.2±13.4 and average trait anxiety point was 51.9±10.1; their father’s average age was 40.2±8.6, average state anxiety point was 35.9±6.5 and average trait anxiety point was 41.3±6.2. Anxiety points of mothers are higher. Mothers who are graduated from primary school, younger than 35 age, have a boy or child younger than 12 age, have social assurance, do not take institutional service, have low family income, and whose first or last child is mentally handicapped, whose husband do not help with caring child have significant decrease in anxiety points after informing. In the fathers, only a decrease in the trait anxiety level was significant. CONCLUSION: Education decreases the parents’ anxiety level. Institutional services have to contain all of the mentally handicapped children and should be educated the parents by nurses periodically to decrease their anxiety.

Bu çalisma, Konya ilinde toplumun aile sagligi konusundaki bilgi düzeyinin zaman içindeki degisiminin irdelenmesi amaciyla yapildi. Yöntem: Kesitsel tipteki bu saha arastirmasinin evreni, Konya ilinde yasayan toplumdur. Toplumun heterojenitesi dikkate alinarak büyük hacimli (n=1000) bir küme örneklemi seçildi. Veriler, arastirici tarafindan gelistirilen 41 soruluk bir anket araciligiyla derlendi. Anketör olarak saglik personelinden yararlanildi. Cevaplar, hem oran hem de puana dönüstürülerek ortalama ve standart sapma seklinde betimlendi. Bulgular: Katilimcilarin yaridan çogu kadin, yaridan biraz fazlasi 25-44 yas grubunda, yine yaridan fazlasi ilkögrenim mezunu, beste dördü evli ve hane halki büyüklügü ortalamasi 4,5±1,8 kisi idi. Aile sagligi ile ilgili konularda dogru cevap alma orani % 1,9 ile % 75,8 arasinda degismekteydi (ortalama % 38,4). Bilgi puani ortalamasi ise 48±15 bulundu. Saglik bilgi puaninin kadinlarda ve evlilerde daha yüksek oldugu, ögrenim düzeyi yükseldikçe ve kirdan kente gidildikçe arttigi, buna karsilik yas ilerledikçe azaldigi belirlendi. 2005 yilinda 1998 yilina göre toplam bilgi puani anlamli bir artis gösterirken üç konuda bilgi düzeyinde azalma, 15 konuda ise bilgi düzeyinde artis oldugu saptandi. Sonuç: Saglik bilgi düzeyi bazi demografik özelliklerden etkilenmektedir. Konya ilinde toplumun aile sagligi konularindaki bilgi düzeyi 1998-2005 döneminde artmistir. Toplumdaki saglik egitimi çabalari belli araliklarla degerlendirilmelidir. Etkili faktörlerle ilgili ileri arastirmalar yapilmalidir., This study was performed to determine the changes in knowledge level of population about family health during a period in Konya. Methods: The target population of this cross-sectiona l study is the people living in Konya province. A large sized sample group (n=1000) was chosen considering the heterogeneity of the population. Data was collected by a 41-question survey which was developed by the researcher. Health staff was used to carry out the survey. Answers were converted to both ratios and points and were represented as mean value and standard deviation. Results: More than half of the participants were female, slightly more than half of them were in the 25-44 age group, also most of them were graduated from primary school, 84% of them were married and average house population was 4.5±1.8 people. The ratio of correct answers about family health was changing from 1,9% to 75.8% (average 38.4%). Average knowledge point was found 48±15. Women and married people had higher health knowledge points. Health knowledge points increased as education level increased. Urban population has more knowledge about health than rural people. Health knowledge points decreased as age of participants increased. The total knowledge point has a significant increase in 2005 compared to 1998. Knowledge level about three subjects were decreased whereas there was an increase in knowledge level of 15 subjects. Conclusion: Health knowledge level is affected by some demographic properties. Knowledge level of Konya population about family health has increased in the 1998-2005 period. Health education efforts should be evaluated in certain periods. Further researches must be performed about effective factors on health education.

Amaç: Ateşli havale (AH), çocukluk çağının sık görülen, iyi huylu ve ateşle ortaya çıkan bir havale türüdür. AH’si olan bir çocuk değişik hekimlik dallarına mensup hekimler tarafından görülebilir. Çalışmada AH ile sık karşılaşan çocuk sağlığı ve hastalıkları uzmanları ile pratisyenlerin hastalık hakkındaki görüş ve uygulamalarının değerlendirilmesi amaçlandı. Yöntem: Çoğunluğu Konya’dan olmakla birlikte muhtelif illerden 100 çocuk sağlığı ve hastalıkları uzmanı ile 100 pratisyen çalışmaya dahil edildi. Uzman ve pratisyenler için ayrı anket hazırlandı. Anketler yüz yüze görüşülerek hekimlerce dolduruldu. Bulgular: Uzmanların % 62.1’i ve pratisyenlerin % 51.6’sı AH denilebilmesi için ateşin en az 38.0 C olması gerektiğini belirtti. Uzmanların çoğu ateşli havalede üst yaş sınırını 6, pratisyenlerin çoğunluğu ise 5 yaş olarak kabul etmekteydi. Uzmanların % 60.0’ının biyokimya, EEG, görüntüleme çalışması gibi tetkikler istediği ve sadece % 13.0’ünün LP gerekçelerini tam olarak bildiği tespit edildi. Pratisyenlerin çoğunluğu AH’yi sevk ettiğini ve % 41.1’i AH’de BOS incelemesinin gerekli olduğunu belirtti. Sonuç: Hem çocuk sağlığı ve hastalıkları uzmanları hem de pratisyenlerin AH ile ilgili bilgilerinde güncellenmesi gereken hususlar vardır. Hizmet içi ve sürekli eğitim bu konuda yararlı olabilir., Objective: Febrile seizures (FS) are a kind of seizures, benign, age related, commonly appearing during childhood, along with fever. A child with FS can be followed-up by physicians from different medical branches. In our study, we targeted to evaluate the thoughts of pediatrists and general practitioners (GPs) frequently encountering these children with FS. Methods: In the study, two different questionnaires were prepared for pediatrists and GPs, respectively. One hundred pediatrists and 100 GPs were included into the study. Results: As upper age limit in FS, pediatrists accepted six, but GPs accepted five. Of all the participants, 62.1% of the pediatrists and 51.6% of the GPs expressed that minimum body temperature should be at least 38.0 °C to be called febrile seizure. According to most of pediatrists, the upper age limit in FS was six; however, GPs’ opinion, the same level in FS was five years. It was determined that 60.0% of the pediatrists ordered such tests as biochemistry, electroencephalography (EEG) and neuroimaging study, while most of the GPs referred patient to higher health centers. Only 13.0% participant pediatrists expressed the whole lumbar puncture (LP) criteria accepted today in the children with fever and seizures. However, 41.1% of the GPs announced cerebrospinal fluid investigation to be necessary in FS. Conclusion: It was suggested that postgraduational education towards these physicians having the probability of frequently encountering FS patients and giving priorities to this issue more in medical schools will be useful.

Amaç: Bu çalışmada ev kadınlarındaki ve çalışan evli kadınlarındaki psikolojik belirtilerin şiddetinin ve sosyo-demografik faktörlerle ilişkisinin araştırılması amaçlandı. Yöntem: Konya il merkezinde rasgele seçilen en az orta okul mezunu 68 ev kadını ve 76 çalışan evli kadına sosyo-demografik özellikleri sorgulayan bir formla birlikte SCL-90-R psikolojik belirti tarama listesi uygulandı. Veriler Pearson korelasyon analizi, t testi, ki-kare testi, Mann-VVhitney U testi, tek ve çok yönlü varyans analizi ile istatistiksel olarak değerlendirildi. Bulgular: Ev kadınları ve çalışan evli kadınların yaşları anlamlı farklılık göstermedi (30.05.5; 31.97.6, P0.099). Çalışan evli kadınların ve eşlerrm daha yüksek eğitim gördüğü, toplam aile gelirlerinin daha yüksek olduğu, evde yaşayan toplam kişi sayısının daha az olduğu ve evlenme yaşlarının daha yüksek olduğu bulundu. Ev kadınlarında anksiyete, fobi, paranoid ve somatizasyon alt ölçek puanları ve global şiddet indeks ortalaması anlamlı derecede daha yüksek bulundu. Çalışan evli kadınlarda obsesyon ve psikotik belirti puanları ile aylık ve toplam aile geliri arasında, ev kadınlarında ise anksiyete, depresyon ve obsesyon puanları ile toplam aile geliri arasında ters yönde ilişki olduğu bulundu. Sonuç: Bulgularımız ev kadınlarında psikolojik belirtilerin çalışan evli kadınlara göre daha fazla olduğunu, her iki grupta da psikolojik belirtilerin toplam aile geliri ve eğitim düzeyi ile yakın ilişkili olduğunu gösterdi. Ev kadınlarının psikolojik sorunlarının daha fazla olma sebepleri ve çözüm yolları üzerinde durulması gerekliliği sonucuna varıldı., Objective: The aim of this study was to examine the psychological symptoms of workingwomen and housevvives and i, relations with socio-demographic factors. Methods: Workingwomen (n76) and housevvives (n68) who vvere married and had at least secondary school education were selected by randomization from the city center of Konya. A socio-demographic form and SCL-90-R (Symptom Chick List-90-Revised) were applied to all subjects. Pearson correlation analysis, t test, chi-square test, Mann-Whitney U test, multiple-way and one-way analysis of variance were used to analyze the data. Results: There was no significant age difference between the groups (30.0±5.5; 31.9±7.6). The education levels of workingwomen and their husbands were higher than; housewives and their husbands. Total family income and marriage age of workingvvomen was higher than housewives. The number of person living at home of workingwomen was fewer than housewives. Global severity index and anxiety, phobia, paranoid and somatisation subscale scores of housewives were higher than workingwomen. There was a negative correlation between total family income and obsessive-compulsive and psychoticism subscale scores among workingwomen whereas anxiety, depression and obsessive-compulsive scores among housewives. Conclusion: Our findings show that psychological symptoms of housewives are higher than workingwomen and there is a close relation between psychological symptoms whit total family income and education level at each group. We concluded that it must be dwelled upon the causes and the solutions of the higher psychological symptoms of housewives.

Amaç: Bu araştırma, primipar annelerin bebek sağlığı konusundaki bilgi kaynaklarının dağılımının ve hemşire ile ebelerin bu konudaki katkılarının belirlenmesi amacıyla yapıldı. Araştırma türü: Araştırma, tanımlayıcı tipte bir çalışmadır. Materyal ve metot: Araştırma, 6 Mayıs ve 14 Haziran 2002 tarihleri arasında yapıldı. Örnek büyüklüğü tek bir toplum oranı için formülle hesaplandı. Veriler.anket yöntemiyle annelerle yüz yüze görüşülerek toplandı. Bulgular: Primipar anneler emzirme konusunu % 46 oranında ebe ve hemşirelerden öğrendiğini ifade etti. Bu oran diğer konularda % 24 ile % U arasında değişmekteydi. Primipar annelerin demografik özellikleri (yaş, öğrenim, çalışma, sosyal güvence ve gelir durumu) ile bebek sağlığı konularında bilgi kaynağı olarak hemşire ve ebelerden yararlanma oram karşılaştırıldı. Sonuç: Primipar annelerce bebek sağlığı konusunda bilgi kaynağı olarak hemşire ve ebelerden yeterince yararlanılamamaktadır., Purpose: This study has been done for the purpose of determination the distribution of primipara's knowledge resources of infant health and the contribution of nurses and midwifes to this subject. Type of Research: Descriptive study Materials and Method: The study was done from 6 May to 14 July 2002. The sample size was calculated for a single proportion. A questionnaire was applied to the mothers for data collection by using face to face interview technique. Results: Primipara have stated that they have learned breast-feeding at the rata of% 46 from nurses and midwives. This rate of other subjects has differed from %24 to % 11. The ratio of making use of nurses and midwifes as the knowledge resource on infant health has been compared with the demographic features of primipara (age, education, work status, social security, income). Conclusion: Primipara have not sufficiently been able to make use of nurses . and midwifes as the knowledge resource of infant health.
