The research is focused on a comprehensive analysis of digitalization as a prerequisite for higher education modernization. The authors of this article consider the digital divide as a component of information inequality, which has a technological nature and presupposes unequal opportunities for access, use, and production of information and knowledge or new technologies for their effective use in practice. The authors determined the digital divide is intensifying under pandemic and quarantine restrictions when the preference is given to blended learning technologies, collaborative learning, integrated learning, flipped classroom technology, storytelling, inquiry based learning (IBL), and project based learning (PBL). The research result is a unified information and communication ecosystem developed, which unites the scientific, technological, and educational potential of the network educational digital environment. The ecosystem also provides for the transformation from a lineal to a cluster model of competence cultivation, the formation of digital skills, growth in the volume of information, and creation of digital products.

Previous studies on blended learning (BL) have explored students' satisfaction, perception, and motivation. However, there remains a notable gap in the literature concerning the impact of group collaboration on students' learning experiences within blended learning environments. Using a qualitative approach, this study explores what 30 Thai English as a foreign language (EFL) vocational students think about their blended learning environment and how working in groups improves their learning. Findings from the interviews revealed that group collaboration is crucial for communication, understanding the topic, completing tasks, and building relationships and trust among students. Specifically, the research highlights how collaborative efforts foster greater student engagement, accountability, and a sense of community within blended learning environments. It also contributes significantly to the existing body of knowledge, underscoring the essential nature of group collaboration within BL settings. The findings hold valuable implications for teachers, curriculum developers, and policymakers, suggesting avenues for leveraging blended learning and group collaboration to optimize language learning outcomes and enrich the overall educational experience for students.

This research investigated the pre-service teachers' self-regulation, self-efficacy, and mathematics performance in blended learning during the post Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic in a state university using a descriptive correlational design. There were 201 pre-service teachers who were identified using simple random sampling. They answered the two-set survey questionnaire, which assessed their self-regulation and self-efficacy, while their performances were assessed using their grades in the subject. The data gathered were treated using descriptive and inferential statistics. The results revealed that they had high self-regulation while they had a very high level of self-efficacy. At the same time, they had a very satisfactory performance in mathematics. Moreover, their self-regulation in terms of planning, monitoring, and adjusting was significantly correlated with their math performance while reflecting is not. However, no significant relationship was found between their self-efficacy and mathematics performance. Thus, instructors are encouraged to conduct monitoring during blended learning to encourage pre-service teachers to maintain their high level of self-regulation and self-efficacy in learning mathematics. In addition, future researchers may explore the same variables to validate the findings of the study because these findings are limited only to pre-service teachers and were conducted during the post COVID-19 pandemic.

The Smile project is an engineering service-learning initiative carried out through collaboration between Chouaib Doukkali University in Morocco and Pusan National University in South Korea. Since 2016, this project has been conducted annually for engineering students from both universities. Participants are selected through an oral interview, ensuring representation from different majors, years, and genders. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the project transitioned to an online mode starting from 2020. The objective of this article is to investigate the impact of the service-learning approach on learning and its potential for enhancing engineering education. This study aims to compare the face-to-face and online implementations of the Smile project as examples of this educational approach. The analysis demonstrates a strong positive effect of engineering service-learning as a learning approach, leading to the improvement of engineering students' skills and competencies. Notably, there is minimal difference between the two implementation modes of this learning approach.

Hybrid project-based learning effectively develops academic writing skills in preparation for a gradual return to face-to-face instruction after a two-year pandemic triggered by Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19). Since this hybrid project-based learning initiative is a pioneering effort, it is essential to reflect on the program's successes and identify areas for improvement. This case study aims to explore the lecturers' and students' reflections on using hybrid project-based learning in academic writing courses. In-depth interviews and end-of-semester reflection were utilized to obtain data. Thematic analysis was conducted using the qualitative data analysis (QDA) miner lite software for data reduction. the findings revealed three prominent themes that emerged in this lecturers' reflections: i) integrating varied learning modalities; ii) fostering critical thinking and involvement; and iii) improving competencies, as they were also crucial to boosting professional development. Meanwhile, students portray hybrid project-based learning as challenging and rewarding and fosters a sense of value and acceptability among students. This research has transformative implications for curriculum development and instructional practices in higher education, especially academic writing.

This study investigated the contributions of flipped and blended teaching to EFL learners' pragmatic awareness. The participants were 90 Iranian intermediate female EFL learners in six intact classes divided into three 30-member groups each comprising two classes (i.e., two experimental and one control group). A Preliminary English Test (PET) was administered to assure language proficiency homogeneity. Next, the three groups received a discourse completion test (DCT) before instruction in flipped and blended modes for the experimental groups and conventional instruction for the control group. After treatment, the posttest of DCT was administered. Moreover, 20 students took part in semi-structured interviews. The results of One-way ANOVA revealed that flipped and blended instruction significantly improved participants' pragmatic awareness. The analysis of interview responses indicated that both groups held positive attitudes towards using flipped and blended instruction. EFL teachers may decide to implement flipped and blended instruction to enhance EFL learners' pragmatic awareness.

The COVID-19 pandemic compelled higher education institutions to adopt an alternative approach to learning. For mathematics education, supporting students through blended learning has become increasingly important as it will ensure students' learning is sustained in such a situation. This practical change has illuminated how cloud technology can be employed in mathematics education to improve the instruction process. Using a cloud classroom blended learning-instructional framework for integrating educational cloud tools into mathematics teaching, this study analysed students' metacognitive ability in mathematical problem-solving. A pre-experimental research using a one group pre-test-post-test design was conducted. The sample comprised sixty undergraduate mathematics students enrolled on a Numerical Analysis course. Sample selection was carried out using a simple random sampling technique. Data were analysed using a descriptive analysis, parametric tests, and n-gain. The results revealed that, firstly, the majority of students (90%) achieved a post-test score of metacognitive ability in mathematical problem-solving -- this exceeded the 60% threshold. Secondly, students' post-test score of metacognitive ability in mathematical problem-solving (mean score of 82.14, S.D. = 8.29) increased significantly compared to the pre-test score (mean score of 73.54, S.D. = 8.38). Further, the effect size was large. Thirdly, there was an enhancement of metacognitive ability in the mathematical problem-solving of students with a mean n-gain of 0.34, which is in the moderate category. Thus, cloud classroom blended learning significantly improved metacognitive ability in mathematical problem-solving among undergraduate students. Educators can apply the results to assess mathematics learning in order to improve the quality of metacognitive ability in mathematical problem-solving.

This study aims to understand the experiences of Turkish teachers in blended learning, the challenges they encountered, and their recommendations in this regard. The authors adapted the Blended Teaching Readiness Instrument (BTRI) (Archibald et al., 2021) to Turkish. Secondly, the reasons, challenges, and suggestions of teachers regarding blended learning were investigated. A total of 325 Turkish teachers were selected as the participant group in this survey. A criterion purposeful sampling method was used in the data collection process. The statistical analysis led to the conclusion that the BTRI, which was translated into Turkish, is a valid and reliable tool for measuring teachers' levels of readiness for blended learning in Turkiye and it can also be used to gauge the readiness of teachers. ort he qualitative aspect, inductive content analysis was used for analyzing open-ended questions of the instrument. The study both served as a reflection of Turkish teachers' positive and negative experiences regarding blended learning practices and a scale adaptation study for measuring the blended teaching readiness of Turkish teachers. It is considered that the results can help both pre-service and in-service teachers to be sensitive toward their blended teaching competencies. This study also has the potential for informing teacher education departments to equip prospective teachers with required disciplinary knowledge along with digital competencies.

With their growing popularity, mobile technologies can be seen as having the capacity to enhance language learning by offering learners a flexible and dynamic learning environment that is not limited by time or location. The main objective of this study is to explore the potential benefits and implications of incorporating mobile technologies as an integral part of blended learning in language classes. In this context, this study investigates the use of a well-known Web 2.0 tool, namely Voki, to explore its impacts on high school students' English speaking skill and their perceptions in blended learning environments. The findings indicate that Voki provides a fun and motivating platform for students to practice their speaking and can significantly increase their speaking skill. In addition, students who participated in English classes incorporating Voki found it beneficial, leading to positive outcomes in terms of their speaking performance. By purposefully integrating mobile technologies into language learning, educators can harness their full potential and enhance the learning experience for students. On the whole, integrating a Web 2.0 tool like Voki with its multimedia features can be a valuable educational resource to improve English speaking skills in blended language classes.

In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, technological and administrative systems for implementing online learning, and the infrastructure that supports its access and delivery, had to be adapted quickly. While disparity in accessibility existed between urban and rural students, extensive resources had been allocated and processes developed to connect learners with course activities and materials, to facilitate communication between instructors and students, and to manage the administration of online learning. Educators needed to make way for this transition with the available technological support and their existing IT skills. Although the pandemic is over, online education still remains a viable option for continuing education in an emergency situation. Exploring the challenges faced during the COVID-19 pandemic and delving deep into the nature and the types of these challenges and their possible reasons will pave the way of translating these insights into academic practices required for laying the foundation of blended learning (BL) in higher education. Recently the University Grants Commission of Bangladesh has published a proposal for adopting BL in the higher education institutions of Bangladesh. This case study consisting of both quantitative and qualitative research, explores the challenges faced by the teachers of the University of Asia Pacific (UAP) during the online shift of education because of the pandemic. Based on the findings, a blended learning framework has been developed which can be applied in tertiary level education in Bangladesh and elsewhere.

The rise in technology-rich learning environments is reflective of a global trend in higher education (HE), recently accelerated because of necessary digital teaching and assessment practices embraced during the COVID-19 pandemic. This qualitative study facilitated through focus groups and an interview explores the teaching and learning experiences of tertiary level students in the COVID-19 era. Data from 24 students based within a UK Higher Education Institution highlights how an expanded digital environment can optimise conditions for some students to independently practise and apply what they are learning at their own pace. Digitally enhanced opportunities to interact with teaching staff and learning resources also increased the options for these students to experience themselves as competent members of the HE community. This was particularly relevant for first-year students new to the processes and practices of tertiary education. In contrast, third year students with more experience of HE appeared less reliant on the provision of online learning resources. Participants also identified some potential problems associated with the enhanced flexibility of online teaching and learning resources in relation to students' ability to be self-regulated. This paper rationalises the need for educators and educational and learning developers who teach and undertake scholarship in teaching and learning to consider the sociocultural context of the student and their learning environment when designing teaching activities and curricula. The data presented here highlight the need for a clearly defined framework to underpin the integration of digital technologies with on-campus activities.

Learning must be able to develop knowledge, skills, and mindsets so that the graduates produced have attitudes, abilities and knowledge that are integrated and skilled in life. One way to achieve learning can be done through habits of mind because the success of learning is strongly influenced by habits of mind. The purpose of this study is to as certain how habits of mind and cognitive learning outcomes in biology are affected by learning process oriented guided inquiry learning with blended learning support. A pretest-postest design wih a non-equivalent control group was employed in this study. The trial ran from February to June 2022. Utilizing the habits of mind questionnaire, pupils' thought patterns were assessed. Essay tests are also used to evaluate the results of cognitive learning. In this study, google form, LMS, and google meet were used for data collection. Statistical Product and Service Solutions software version 23 is used for data analysis and the results of covariance analysis (ANCOVA) showed a p value < 0,005, meaning that POGIL-supported blended learning can empower habits of mind and cognitive learning outcomes in biology learning. There is a substantial difference between the outcomes of the least significant difference and increasing habits of mind and cognitive learning outcomes. As a result, POGIL with moodle support can be used to enhance students' habits of mind and cognitive learning results in biology classes.

This study aims to ascertain the impact of the Active learning method on high-order thinking skills (HOTS) within the realm of Islamic education. Our primary contribution is the comprehensive meta-analysis of various preliminary and university educational studies. Using RStudio, we analyzed the differences in effect sizes, variations, and groups among studies. The findings indicate that the Active learning method significantly enhances HOTS, with the mixed learning method showing the most pronounced effect. We adopted a systematic approach, examining diverse learning methods like genre-based learning and blended learning model. Our research design entailed a meticulous meta-analysis of pre-existing literature rather than primary experimental or survey-based methods. However, we identified high heterogeneity in effect sizes as a limitation, suggesting the need for more nuanced studies in varied contexts. This research underscores educators' need to adapt learning strategies suited for specific educational levels, pointing towards a brighter horizon for tailored pedagogical interventions.

The teaching of English First Additional Language (EFAL) in South Africa is gradually changing from the traditional style because of the devastating effects of the COVID-19 pandemic. Efforts are being made to stimulate learners' interest in learning which include using information communication technology (ICT) in the form of e-learning to enhance understanding. The outbreak of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) was a major challenge as it compelled teachers to engage in online teaching -- even those who were never trained in the use of technology. A qualitative research method in the form of semi-structured interviews was used to collect data from 15 EFAL teachers who were purposefully selected on the basis that they used e-learning to supplement their face-to-face teaching. I found that the integration of e-learning to the traditional physical contact style was essential in improving the teaching of EFAL. The majority of participants, however, highlighted that they still encountered challenges related to heavy workload and efforts to complete items listed in the work programme. Inadequate training of teachers on e-learning, a lack of resources and poor connectivity also acted as barriers to the full implementation of blended learning, which considerably improves learners' performance.

Although interest in blended learning for students has grown within elementary and secondary school contexts, limited research exists on the implementation of blended professional development (PD) for teachers. The current mixed-method action research study examined teacher participation in blended learning PD in a large California district, offered in response to the challenges during the COVID-19 pandemic. Using a survey and interviews, the authors examined teacher self-efficacy and the reported influence of the PD on their practice. Findings suggest that the blended PD provided participants with the perceived self-efficacy needed to implement new instructional practices. In addition, collaboration among teachers was essential, teachers were able to learn through different pathways and at different rates, and ongoing support from a qualified PD instructor was necessary. This study sheds light on the implementation of blended PD for K-12 teachers, shares insights on practical considerations for planning and application, and suggests areas for future research.

Art and design students in higher education often prioritize design skills over written communication. With the opportunity to restructure courses around increased asynchronous flexibility arising from the COVID-19 pandemic, the author of this manuscript (who is also the course instructor) has developed a hybrid-blended course design in the art history survey class for over three years. This design guides students toward developing teamwork skills that are crucial in the professional world. While offering tools for art history assignments, this exploratory research encourages humanities scholars to rethink their role in shaping the 21st-century professional. A model of course redesign, including its successes and limitations, is discussed.

Social media, in various forms, has emerged as a significant communication tool in today's digital age. This study investigates the impact of using the Twitter application to enhance rhetorical skills among students at the College of Sciences and Humanities in Al-Aflaj Governorate, Saudi Arabia. A quasi-experimental approach was utilized, with 140 students in the first semester of the year 1445 AH divided into experimental and control groups. Both groups adhered to the prescribed curriculum, but the experimental group received additional instruction on rhetorical techniques through Twitter. Pre- and post-tests were conducted for both groups, with statistical analysis showing the experimental group outperforming the control group, indicating significant achievement differences in favor of the experimental group. This study demonstrates a notable 38% improvement in rhetorical skills among students at the College of Sciences and Humanities in Al-Aflaj through Twitter use. These findings emphasize the potential of social media platforms like Twitter to enhance educational outcomes. Consequently, the integration of Twitter into the educational process is recommended. The study also suggests formally incorporating Twitter into language teaching frameworks and providing faculty training in blended learning practices.

Objective: This study aimed to develop and test a scale for measuring the quality of blended learning models in higher education. Methods: This research adopts a sequential mixed-method approach to construct a new measurement scale. The first phase consisted of the inductive approach to identify the items, followed by exploratory factor analysis. The identified dimensions were tested for reliability and validity in the second phase. Results: The Blended Learning Quality Assessment (BLQA) contains 4 dimensions: Technology Integration, Pedagogy and Curriculum, Physical Infrastructure, and Educator Proficiency. The scale is comprised of 26 items assessing the quality of blended learning programs in higher education. The reliability and validity of the scale were established by confirmatory factor analysis (AVE > 0.6, Cronbach's alpha > 0.85). Conclusions: In the face of changing student expectations of quality, this study introduces a comprehensive measurement scale by which institutions of higher education may effectively assess their performance. Implications: Results contribute to extant literature by proposing a comprehensive scale to measure the quality of an institution's blended learning model. The scale integrates digital aspects of pedagogy, delivery, and infrastructure and can be used to identify the dimensions contributing most to student satisfaction.

Objectives: The present study describes the utilization frequency and competencies of educational technologies among academics at a university in Turkey during the COVID-19 pandemic. Methods: Participants were 391 faculty members and lecturers working in the faculties and vocational schools of a Turkish university during the 2020-2021 academic year. A survey included questions regarding the use of educational technologies and perceived competency in the use of those technologies. Results: Academics are more familiar with distance education than hybrid or blended learning. Academics reported that blended learning, hybrid learning, and distance education provide more effective education on integrating technology but report that they mostly prefer face-to-face teaching after the COVID-19 pandemic. The top three self-reported competencies are MS Office, the university academic information system, and meeting and course management tools. More information is needed about educational technology approaches and various applications such as augmented reality, simulations, assessments, and video tools. Conclusion: Faculty use of digital tools is limited, they experience significant deficiencies in using various digital tools and systems, and they are less competent in applying these tools. Academics still consider traditional face-to-face teaching as the primary choice if they are free to make decisions in the context of education and training. Thus, there is a need for professional development focused on pedagogical educational technology approaches, models, and methodologies. Implications: Various factors such as the course type, subject matter, education level, technical infrastructure, and technological and methodological support should be evaluated within the context of digitizing universities.

The COVID-19 pandemic has significantly impacted traditional design education, forcing educators to adopt digital classrooms for architectural design instruction, which has led to various challenges and suboptimal student performance. This research explores effective online design teaching methods, particularly across different design modules (IVI), using a synthesis and literature review methodology. It investigates three domains: pandemic teaching challenges, traditional design education, and suitable pandemic teaching methods. The study triangulates teaching during the pandemic, conventional techniques, and elements from content focus (CF) and support open learning (SL) methods to create a hybrid pedagogy. The proposed blended approach combines traditional design education with virtual instruction, offering guidelines for educators to structure academic activities and integrate effective online teaching strategies. The findings provide valuable insights for design instructors and educational institutions adapting to digital classrooms during the pandemic and beyond.

The aim of this research was to evaluate and compare the efficiency of the flipped learning strategy with that of a conventional teaching method with respect to learning outcomes, cognitive gain, and perception and satisfaction with regard to the methodology used. The research was carried out during the 2021-2022 academic year and focused on a molecular biology course within a primary education Bachelor's degree programme, which included a total of 146 students. In order to assess the students' comprehension of the mechanisms involved in DNA replication, transcription and translation, we employed two different methods: the multiple-select Central Dogma Concept Inventory (CDCI) and a concept-mapping activity. A three-point Likert-type scale questionnaire was used to investigate the pre-service teachers' perceptions of the methodological approach that we used. The results show that the flipped learning pedagogical approach not only increases pre-service teacher's performance but also enables them to develop higher level cognitive skills than with traditional methodology. However, several features of the central dogma processes remained poorly understood, probably because of the multilevel and invisible nature of the molecular biology, and the lack of knowledge of the molecular interactions that facilitate these processes. The preservice teachers had a more positive perception of the teaching approach and their own competence when they followed the flipped model.

This mixed-methods observational pilot study compared clinician-supervisor and student satisfaction (surveys and semi-structured interviews), and final placement scores for two different physiotherapy clinical placement models: hybrid (half-onsite, half-remote) and traditional (onsite). All supervisors and students involved were invited to participate; ten supervisors and seven students completed the survey, and nine supervisors and one student participated in interviews. Qualitative data were analyzed using reflexive thematic analysis. Students and supervisors reported similar levels of satisfaction for either model. Supervisors reported some reservations and higher workloads with the hybrid model. The interviews identified three themes for satisfying placements: it is structure, not location that matters; managing competing demands on clinician-supervisors; and learning requires psychologically safe relationships. Final scores for both placement models were comparable. This pilot study with a small sample found the hybrid model was acceptable and achieved comparable outcomes to the traditional model. Remote structured learning has potential to innovate and support sustainable clinical placements.

It is widely acknowledged that the relationship between education, security, and stability is bidirectional. In times of war, access to quality education becomes compromised, and conversely, the absence of proper education constrains individuals to a life under constant threat, disrupting education provision. War, viewed as a "lifetime and life-wide status," evolves into a self-fulfilling prophecy, both at an individual and collective level, making it challenging to break free from, particularly within the broader context of education provision. Although, scant information exists about how education is maintained during wars, hindering the right to education in such contexts. This study therefore addresses this gap by synthesizing the literature to identify and present 14 educational scenarios and teaching strategies on how education was maintained from different war contexts over time. The findings reveal that education during wars can be digital-based (i.e., facilitated by technology) and non-digital based (without technology). Additionally, various teaching strategies are applied during wars, including inspirational, hands-on and practical, fun-based, among others. Finally, teaching during wars is not limited to teachers only, but it could also involve parents, neighbors, etc. The findings of the literature can help to ensure the right to education in crises like wars and reveal the importance of open education in such crises. They can also contribute to enriching the ongoing theoretical and practical debate on how to maintain education in crises like wars. This can help to better be prepared for future education in crises, which is the focus of several international organizations.

Although it is a highly developed industrial country and generally known as technologically savvy, Germany lags internationally in digital transformation. Moreover, Germany's progress in Higher Education (HE) is uneven since 16 federal states have responsibility for education, including Higher Education. The pandemic has reinforced the importance as much as accelerated the transition to digitalization in HE. Although HE leaders see digitalization as important for research, service, and management, they emphasize that digital transformation has meaning for teaching and learning. The new digitally-based formats of teaching and learning--for example "blended learning" and so-called "inverted classroom" formats--benefit students most as they motivate and engage them more than does traditional classroom-based education. As Germany is a member of the European Union (EU) and a signatory of the Bologna Process, European policies, programs, guidelines, and agreements also affect Germany's digital transformation.

This study aimed to explore the undergraduates' attitudes and perceptions towards the use of synchronous zoom classroom for learning, and the effect of individual differences on the perceptions of zoom learning. Data were collected via online structured questionnaire from a total of 379 undergraduate students, who utilized a hybrid mode for learning, at purposively selected two state universities. The findings explored that undergraduates did not overwhelmingly support or oppose the utilization of zoom platform for learning. Multi-group analysis revealed that: male undergraduates were more receptive to use zoom classroom for learning, and perceived more beneficial aspects associated with zoom classroom compared to female undergraduates; further, undergraduates in the final academic year had the preference for zoom learning whereas those in the first academic year did not show a definite inclination either in favour or against the use of zoom for learning; moreover, significant differences were observed over the preferences on learning through both zoom and face-to-face regarding theoretical and mathematical subjects where learning of theoretical subject was supported by zoom and learning of mathematical subject were not showed a definite inclination either in favour or against the use of zoom. These findings clearly demonstrate that there is a possibility to take forward the teaching and learning through a hybrid mode which integrates both online mode and traditional face-to-face mode. This research provides insights for educational policy makers and university administrators to incorporate a hybrid learning mode for effective learning and solution for the highly demanded physical infrastructure facilities in the universities.

The aim of the study is to examine the effectiveness of blended learning in encouraging course interaction amongst first-year students studying a business communication module. The COVID19 pandemic resulted in the increased use of blended learning as a teaching approach to encourage learning regardless of the location. Existing research on blended learning suggests its value in promoting increased student engagement, ultimately contributing to positive educational outcomes. Data was collected through a cross-sectional survey whereby a questionnaire was distributed to the respondents using Google Forms. Data was analysed on the same platform. Cross-tabulation was used to understand the relationships between factors in participants' responses to the questions. Results indicate that blended learning successfully drives course interaction because the combination of class-based and online engagement positively impacts how likely students are to engage in course content. This paper makes a valuable contribution in the form of underscoring a pressing need for research that is aimed at understanding how blended learning shapes the experiences students have with their modules, as well as how these factors may shape current practices in blended learning. Most students indicated that they would recommend blended learning as it increased participation and engagement with their course content.

This research aimed to assess the impact of blended learning on the English reading comprehension abilities of second-year Thai vocational students. It also examined how these students perceived their satisfaction regarding their blended learning experience using the Community of Inquiry (CoI) framework. Thirty students enrolled in a Thai vocational college in the southern part of Thailand during the second semester of the Academic Year 2022-2023 participated in the study. These students attended a six-week blended learning (BL) program in which they took a one-group pretest and posttest experimental design. The BL program comprised nine lesson plans, English reading comprehension tests, and online satisfaction items. Data analysis involved paired sample t-tests, mean, and standard deviations. The findings revealed that the posttest scores for English reading comprehension were significantly higher than the pretest scores at a significance level of 0.05. Furthermore, students reported a high mean score of 4.73 (very satisfied) with their blended learning experience after their improved English reading comprehension tests. Implications were discussed, and recommendations were also offered.

In recent years, there has been an increasing amount of literature on online teaching and learning. Teaching mathematics in the fourth industrial revolution offers entry-level mathematics teachers formidable challenges. Despite using various teaching aids in explaining the learning area, entry-level mathematics teachers, those with zero to three years of teaching experience, have experienced challenges in blended teaching during the COVID-19 pandemic. Such challenges could support the preconceived notion identified by others that the field of learning (mathematics) is difficult. This paper hinged on constructivist epistemology and investigated the challenges that entry-level mathematics teachers face in conducting blended teaching in the Sedibeng West District of Gauteng Province in the Republic of South Africa. Eight entry-level mathematics teachers were purposely sampled from four selected schools that participated in the article. This article adopted a case study design and responses were analysed thematically. The focus group interviews were used as tools to collect data in this study. The study revealed a variety of perceptions that entry-level mathematics teachers shared about the impact of blended teaching in mathematics learning. These included, but were not limited to, the use of teaching programs or software, the effects of load shedding and blended teaching challenges related to learners' performance and behaviour. The results of this study could provide program developers, subject advisors, school principals with other members of the management team, and mathematics teachers to support the entry-level mathematics teacher's confidence, sense of future and communication skills, as well as foster multigenerational connections in blended teaching.

While active learning strategies have been promoted by researchers as practices to increase performance and retention, some practices have been shown to have unintended negative effects on students such as increasing anxiety. Students often report the debilitating effect of test-taking anxiety on their performance. This study investigated the use of an exam preparation process utilizing clicker questions to help human anatomy students at a community college cope with test-taking anxiety by practicing answering timed questions and regularly confronting the specific impact of anxiety on their performance. Students completed early and late semester surveys which measured self-reported test-taking anxiety levels and social anxiety in response to various teaching practices. There was no difference in test-taking anxiety between students who received clicker questions and students who did not. However, when comparing test taking anxiety across a subset of students who took both the early and late surveys, independent of treatment, a significant decrease in test taking anxiety was observed from the start to the end of the semester. Students also reported a change in effectiveness of teaching practices, rating lectures as effective early in the semester, while emphasizing active learning more at the end of the semester.

This research aimed to determine the trends related to blended learning studies conducted in science education through descriptive content analysis. This study was performed using the document review method. For this purpose, 120 studies on blended learning in science education were determined between 2005 and 2022 in the Web of Science (WoS) database. The studies were examined by considering themes such as keywords, country, purpose, method, sample, online system, and result. The research findings showed that more studies occurred between 2020 and 2022. The findings showed that studies mostly use quantitative research methods and experimental designs. Most of the studies were conducted with undergraduate-level sample groups. Findings revealed that the blended learning environment is designed more to teach physics subjects, and parametric tests were generally used for data analysis. The more preferred course management systems in the studies were the online systems designed by the schools. A considerable number of studies revealed that blended learning environments designed for science education have a positive effect on variables such as achievement, skill, and motivation.

The evolution of learning design continues, focusing on blended laboratory approaches incorporating technology. The Sophisticated Thinking Laboratory (STB-LAB) and Gather Town are key tools in implementing collaborative learning in this context. This study assesses the effectiveness of blended laboratory implementation using STB-LAB and Gather Town as a gamification tool, utilizing the Assessment Based on Teaching and Learning Trajectory (AABTLT) with Student Activity Sheets (SAS). The results reveal the successful execution of STB-LAB syntax in blended laboratory activities. Additionally, STB-LAB and Gather Town significantly enhance students' collaborative skills, as indicated by a substantial Cohen's D Effect Size. For physics education majors, the effect size is 1.736 in the experiment group and 0.754 in the control group, while for biology education majors, it is 1.522 in the experiment group and 0.541 in the control group. This study highlights the positive impact of blended laboratories with STB-LAB and Gather Town on collaborative skill development, further emphasizing the role of technology in contemporary learning design. This study aimed to investigate distance education practices in higher education during the pandemic, focusing on lived experiences, and proposing a policy decision framework for future distance education in similar conditions. Additionally, the study aimed to establish a design framework for an Emergency Action Plan for similar crisis periods. In the study, a case study was used to provide a detailed examination of the current situation's characteristics. The study group consisted of 63 administrators from 34 universities who actively participated in decision-making during the pandemic. Data were collected through 11 online focus group interviews, and the Miles-Huberman Model was used for analysis. The study proposed a policy decision framework for distance education in the post-pandemic period, consisting of 11 headings such as blended learning, open course materials, and Distance Education Center structuring. Additionally, the study presented an emergency action plan framework consisting of six components, including keeping the technological infrastructure working and supporting face-to-face courses with distance education. This study provides valuable insights for universities in preparing for potential crises and improving their distance education practices.

Due to the predominance of test-oriented practice, one major challenge faced in Japanese high school classrooms is the lack of learning activities to develop higher order thinking. The purpose of this action research study was to explore an extracurricular blended learning program created to develop the higher order thinking of English language learners at a public high school in Japan. In this one-month program, 16 participants engaged in online synchronous and asynchronous activities, with English as a medium of instruction and communication, supported by in-person face-to-face sessions conducted in Japanese. Data were collected via asynchronous forums, a post-survey, and my observation notes. Results indicated that participants demonstrated higher order thinking to a certain extent overall in the forums; however, learner-learner interaction was not as highly activated as expected, mainly due to limited social interaction within the forums. These findings suggested that constructivist asynchronous forums can be used to develop the higher order thinking of English language learners in K-12 settings, with appropriate program design, instructor mediation, and content.

The end of the pandemic era has brought new changes and challenges to lectures held in a blended learning environment, one of which is the use of interactive content. The objective of this study was to analyse, develop and evaluate the presentation of content using H5P in blended learning, its relevance to lecture topics, activities to achieve learning outcomes using the rotation-type blended learning model and how students perceive it after using this H5P content. It focused on the rotation model that is commonly used in blended learning. However, this model has not included H5P much yet. The sampling method was purposive. The data were collected using a Likert scale questionnaire. The questionnaire data were examined using the bivariate Pearson correlation approach. The results of this study indicated that the use of H5P as a supporting component in implementing the rotation model type of integrated learning increases student knowledge, skill and satisfaction. Lecturers can apply H5Pbased content as content support in blended learning for other study programmes by following the content development steps, type rotation scenario and how the H5P interactive videos are used.

Changes in learning format between face-to-face, online, and blended learning impact learning convenience. Based on changes in learning formats, this research aims to reveal and explore information regarding the learning formats that postgraduate students feel is most convenient based on their experiences and conditions. This research used a phenomenological design to obtain comprehensive and in-depth data regarding the convenience of various learning formats and that are at the beginning of the transition between various instructional formats. Data sources were obtained from postgraduate study participants at various universities in Jawa, Indonesia, who had experienced changes in learning formats during their studies. Data was collected through direct observation and in-depth face-to-face and online interviews of 13 participants to capture real experiences and feelings. The data was then analysed using thematic qualitative analysis techniques with the help of the Atlas.Ti programme. The research results showed that all learning formats can optimise learning success if the resources are available and students are serious and focused on learning. For postgraduate students with good internet access, online learning was the most desired and convenient, both for those who were very busy and those who were just focused on studying. Ultimately, the choice of learning format should be based on carefully examining all available options to maximise their success in achieving their educational goals.

This research aims to analyse whether the increasing use of case-based learning (CBL) by madrasa aliyah teachers in Indonesia improves their teaching skills in the field of education. This study employed a quasi-experimental technique and data from a CBL intervention programme to investigate how CBL is connected with teachers' hybrid teaching skill. The data was analysed using the difference-indifference design. In general, the teaching skill of madrasa teachers is solely treated as a predictor of the practice of teaching Islamic religious education. Still, we discovered that the greater use of CBL in hybrid learning can favorably affect the teaching skill of madrasa teachers. CBL is positively associated with student involvement and teaching in learning among the madrasa teacher teaching skill subscales. However, according to our data analysis, students' favourable responses to Islamic religious education, and hybrid learning practices can moderate the link between CBL and the teaching skill of madrasa teachers. This study has significance for the CBL model's growth in strengthening the teaching skill of madrasa teachers in distance learning Islamic religious education.

The study aims to determine the impact of blended learning on the performance of science students and their self-regulation and to identify effective recommendations to improve the effectiveness of blended learning. Third-year students of Kazan Federal University took part in the study. The measurement scale tools adopted in this study included pre-test, post-test and self-regulation questionnaires. Analyses showed that participants in the experimental group scored higher on the final test than students in the reference group. The experimental group scored significantly higher than the reference group on the self-regulation questionnaire. It can be concluded that the blended learning model can significantly improve students' self-regulation compared to the traditional approach to learning. Recommendations were made to improve blended learning.

The current research seeks to analyze university students' perceptions and attitudes of LMS-based learning. This research is a descriptive study with 607 students of State Islamic University of Mataram as the research subjects. Subjects are randomly selected from all students who used LMS as a learning medium. A 36-item questionnaire was administered to capture their perceptions and attitudes. The results of the questionnaire indicated that majority of students have a good perception on the LMS usability, learning design, material content, language and communication, interactions with instructors, and interactions with peers. Pertaining to attitudes, students have good attitudes toward LMS-based learning. For the composition of attitude that are good for cognitive, affective, and conative. Furthermore, based on the distribution of student perceptions on the application of LMS-based learning, blended learning should be applied with the following approach: moderator role is needed in discussions or forums among the students and the lecturers actively present in LMS-based learning either to provide explanations to students or lead them to be actively involved in the LMS. A future recommendation on blended learning design is pivotal with the following approach: moderator role is required in the discussion among students where lecturers actively provide explanations to students or guide them to be active in the LMS.

Implementing the Blended Learning model was identified as having a major influence on achieving learning objectives in the classroom. Blended learning facilitates different times and types of student learning so students can learn according to their needs. The purpose of this study is to define the blended learning effectiveness used at MTs Ittaqollah Ambon in terms of some components evaluation, that are system assessment, program planning, program implementation, program improvement, and program certification. The CSE-UCLA (Center for the Study of the Evaluation University of California, Los Angeles) evaluation model-based evaluative study was employed in this research as the methodology. The study's subjects were the students, principals, teachers, and the management team for blended learning. The research results indicated that the level of effectiveness average of the components of the assessment system was 86.6% (good category), the level of effectiveness average of the planning program components was 84.5% (good category), the level of effectiveness average of program implementation components was 89.3% (good category), the level of effectiveness average of improvement program components is 85.5% (good category), the average effectiveness level of certification program components is 85.9% (good category). The study's results can provide suggestions or recommendations for enhancing or refining the usage of blended learning in schools to maximize the achievement of learning objectives.

The utilization of blended learning in the field of English language instruction has shown a notable rise in recent times. Blended learning has the ability to provide an optimal setting for language education, enabling a transition from conventional instructional approaches to more progressive ways through the integration of technology. Nevertheless, several unresolved issues remain in relation to this methodology. This paper examines the perceptions of students regarding the potential benefits and obstacles associated with the implementation of blended learning in English language courses at a university in Vietnam. Additionally, the study proposes many solutions with the objective of enhancing the current situation and establishing a solid foundation for the future growth of blended learning. The study involved a sample of 165 first-year students, with online surveys and interviews being utilized as the primary methods of data collection The results of the study indicate that contemporary students can be classified as digital natives. While they demonstrate proficiency in various technical skills, have easy access to technology, and exhibit a propensity for self-directed learning, their inclination towards traditional classroom environments is evident when it comes to their attitudes regarding online engagement with instructors and peers in English courses.

Students at school need to develop a character of responsibility in learning discipline (Re-LeaD) after the COVID-19 pandemic (CV-19P), or face-to-face meetings (FTF) are a concern. The character of Re-LeaD as a form of student success in the future. Aims to research determine the individual blended counselling model of the behaviouristic counselling approach to increase Re-LeaDs and the effectiveness of the individual blended counselling model of the behaviouristic counselling approach to increase Re-LeaDs. Individual counselling with a behaviouristic process combines FTF chat and counselling with an e-counseling website. Research and development are limited to five steps (1) study problem; (2) hypothetical draft model; (3) model feasibility test through guidance and counselling reviews; (4) revising model; (5) testing effectiveness model. The instrument used is the Re-LeaD scale and expert review on the feasibility model. Data analysis with the reliability coefficient between reviewers and Cohens Kappa, then t-test to test the model's effectiveness. The results of the study concluded that the blended counselling model with a behaviouristic counselling approach is feasible to be applied by school counsellors to increase Re-LeaDs students based on an average rating of more than 3.09 (scale 4) from reviews by experts and guidance and counselling practitioners (0.621 with sig. 0.000 < 0.05). The individual blended counselling with behaviouristic counselling approach can also effectively increase Re-LeaDs students in the higher category (21.5) than before the intervention (10.75) and sig. 0.000 < 0.05. Counsellors can use individual blended counselling with behaviouristic methods as one of the counselling strategies to increase Re-LeaDs.

After the COVID-19 pandemic was over, the teaching and learning process in the world of education underwent several changes. The COVID-19 pandemic forced the global learning community to transition within a very short period of time from the traditional in-class method of learning to a mode of online learning. After the pandemic started to subside, even though it had not wholly disappeared, learning was carried out using hybrid learning. Hybrid learning was continued to prevent the re-emergence of the COVID virus by reducing the number of students in each face-to-face class. The purpose of this study is to determine whether there are differences in learning outcomes between online learning and offline (face-to-face) learning. Based on normality and homogeneity tests as well as different tests on pretest and posttest scores, the results show that there are differences in posttest learning outcomes for the Online and Offline Groups, which can be seen from the P Value (Sig.) (0.005) < 0.05. Differences also occur in the results of the work; students in the Online Group were more courageous in trying to solve things in a different way from what the educator teaches compared to students from the Offline Group. With an awareness of these differences, future research can create a learning model that combines online and offline learning to improve student learning outcomes.

Background: The teachers in one sub-district in the North West province lacked technological knowledge and skills thus did not adopt a blended learning approach in their daily teaching. A partnership between the University of South Africa (Unisa) and schools in the district was forged to train teachers to acquire technological knowledge and skills. Objectives: To identify which online tools Unisa imparted to teachers, investigate how the acquired skills and knowledge helped teachers to adopt a blended learning approach and find out challenges that go with the application of technology. Method: Data were obtained through observation, one-on-one individual interviews and focus group discussions. Results: The Unisa training helped develop teachers' knowledge and skills in the use of TEAMS, Emails, WhatsApp, YouTube and the electronic content material. Teachers gave learners the electronic content (presentation slides and You-videos, question banks) for revision purposes. During the outbreak of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) learners were given work to do while at home using WhatsApp. Conclusion: The article concludes by indicating that partnerships between schools and institutions of higher learning are a necessity to empower teachers on the use of technology which will lead to the use of a blended learning approach. Contribution: The article adds to the body of knowledge by indicating the need for retraining of teachers especially on technological skills to prepare them for 4th Industrial Revolution and meet the needs of the new cohort of learners-born after technology.

As blended learning moved toward a new phase during the COVID-19 pandemic, advancements in artificial intelligence (AI) technology provided opportunities to develop more diverse and dynamic blended learning. This systematic review focused on publications related to the use of AI applications in blended learning. The original studies from January 2007 to October 2023 were extracted from the Google Scholar, ERIC, and Web of Science databases. Finally, 30 empirical studies under the inclusion criteria were reviewed based on two conceptual frameworks: four key challenges of blended learning and three roles of AI. We found that AI applications have been used mainly for the online asynchronous individual learning component in blended learning; little work has been conducted on AI applications that help connect online activities with classroom-based offline activities. Many studies have identified the role of AI as a direct mediator to help control flexibility and autonomy of students in blended learning. However, abundant studies have also identified AI as a supplementary assistant using advanced learning analytics technologies that promote effective interactions with students and facilitate the learning process. Finally, the fewest number of studies have explored the role of AI as a new subject such as use as pedagogical agents or robots. Considering the advancements of generative AI technologies, we expect more research on AI in blended learning. The findings of this study suggested that future studies should guide teachers and their smart AI partner to implement blended learning more effectively.

The importance of understanding student attitudes has become paramount in the successful deployment of blended learning. This study aimed to examine the factorial structure of a scale designed to assess university students' attitudes towards blended learning. Using a descriptive quantitative research approach, the study included a sample of 889 male and female students from the University of Tabuk, located in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The participants were selected randomly from different academic majors and levels of study. The instrument employed in this study was the Blended Learning Attitudes Scale, a tool designed by the researcher and subjected to rigorous validation procedures. The researcher utilised exploratory and confirmatory factor analyses to understand the latent variables the scale represented comprehensively. The study's findings indicated the presence of a three-factor model, encompassing participants' perceptions of the nature of blended learning, its perceived importance, and their willingness to utilise it. The combined influence of these three factors accounted for 64% of the observed variance. The scale had noteworthy psychometric features, as evidenced by its high-reliability coefficients and robust validity indicators. This study presents a reliable instrument that educators and researchers may utilise to assess university students' attitudes towards blended learning.

The purpose of this study is to reveal the pull and push factors that influence the decisions of administrators and practitioners about online courses offered to students on campus in terms of teaching-learning, course content procurement, and assessment-evaluation dimensions. The study was carried out using nested multi-case studies as a qualitative research method. The sample of the study consisted of four Distance Education Centers (DEC) with at least five years of experience, selected by the snowball and maximum variation sampling methods. The data were obtained using individual semi-structured interviews, institution documents, and Learning Management Systems (LMS), with 24 people working as administrators, content development specialists, program coordinators, and IT specialists at these institutions. It was found that factors like the interaction between students and teachers, legislation, budget, human resources, and organized structuring helped the DECs decide which models to use in the teaching-learning, course content procurement, and assessment-evaluation dimensions.

The global pandemic highlighted the need for diverse faculty development partners to ensure student and faculty learning was supported, particularly in intensive modes of educational delivery. Our paper presents an institutional case study of how educational technology, in collaboration with the Center for Teaching and Learning and subject matter experts, served as untapped providers of faculty development. We detail the decision to shift to an intensive 7-week module system rather than our traditional 15-week semester in response to COVID-19. Although challenging for both faculty and students, this shift in educational delivery facilitated innovative approaches to faculty and student learning that are present on our campus today. This institutional case study highlights the role that capacity-building plays in capability development and professional learning for faculty and students alike to support effective teaching practice across diverse delivery modes.
