We study the emergence and phenomenological consequences of recently proposednew structures, namely soft breaking of the Higgs shift symmetry and `maximalsymmetry' of the composite sector, in holographic realizations of compositeHiggs models. For the former, we show that soft breaking can also successfullybe implemented in a full 5D warped model, where symmetry-restoring universalboundary conditions for the fermion fields allow to break the problematicconnection between a realistically light Higgs and anomalously light toppartners. For the latter, we demonstrate that the minimal incarnation ofmaximal symmetry in the holographic dual leads to a sharp prediction of$m_h\approx 197$ GeV for $f=800$ GeV. We find that a viable implementation ispossible with sizable negative gauge brane kinetic terms, allowing for$m_h=125$ GeV. Overall, both approaches offer promising directions to improvethe naturalness also of holographic realizations of composite Higgs models.

Background The worldwide use of prone position (PP) for invasively ventilated patients with COVID-19 is progressively increasing from the first pandemic wave in everyday clinical practice. Among the suggested treatments for the management of ARDS patients, PP was recommended in the Surviving Sepsis Campaign COVID-19 guidelines as an adjuvant therapy for improving ventilation. In patients with severe classical ARDS, some authors reported that early application of prolonged PP sessions significantly decreases 28-day and 90-day mortality. Methods and analysis Since January 2021, the COVID19 Veneto ICU Network research group has developed and implemented nationally and internationally the “PROVENT-C19 Registry”, endorsed by the Italian Society of Anesthesia Analgesia Resuscitation and Intensive Care…’(SIAARTI). The PROVENT-C19 Registry wishes to describe 1. The real clinical practice on the use of PP in COVID-19 patients during the pandemic at a National and International level; and 2. Potential baseline and clinical characteristics that identify subpopulations of invasively ventilated patients with COVID-19 that may improve daily from PP therapy. This web-based registry will provide relevant information on how the database research tools may improve our daily clinical practice. Conclusions This multicenter, prospective registry is the first to identify and characterize the role of PP on clinical outcome in COVID-19 patients. In recent years, data emerging from large registries have been increasingly used to provide real-world evidence on the effectiveness, quality, and safety of a clinical intervention. Indeed observation-based registries could be effective tools aimed at identifying specific clusters of patients within a large study population with widely heterogeneous clinical characteristics. Trial registration The registry was registered (ClinicalTrial.Gov Trials Register NCT04905875) on May 28,2021.

In this talk, we present a minimal viable scenario that unifies the gauge symmetries of the Standard Model (SM) and their breaking sector. Our Gauge-Higgs Grand Unification setup employs 5D warped space with a $SU(6)$ bulk gauge field that includes both a $SU(5)$ grand unified theory (GUT) and a Higgs sector as a scalar component of the 5D vector field, solving the hierarchy problem. By appropriately breaking the gauge symmetry on the boundaries of the extra dimension the issue of light exotic new states, appearing generically in such models, is eliminated and the SM fermion spectrum is naturally reproduced. The Higgs potential is computed at one-loop, finding straightforward solutions with a realistic $m_h = 125$ GeV. The problem of proton decay is addressed by showing that baryon number is a hidden symmetry of the model. The presence of a scalar leptoquark and a scalar singlet is highlighted, which might play a role in solving further problems of the SM, allowing for example for electroweak baryogenesis. We propose a new way of breaking the Goldstone symmetry in composite Higgs models, restoring the global symmetry in the mixings between the elementary and composite fermions by completing the former to full representations of this symmetry. The Goldstone symmetry is in turn broken softly by vector-like mass terms in the {\it elementary} sector only. The resulting softened explicit breaking allows for a light Higgs boson, as found at the LHC, and a heavy top quark, without the need of light top partners around the Goldstone scale $f \sim {\rm TeV} \ll m_{\rm comp.}$, which remain elusive at the LHC, while we recover the standard scenario in the limit of infinite vector-like masses.

Van der Woude syndrome (VWS), an autosomal dominant condition associated with lower lip pits and/or cleft palate, is caused by mutations in the interferon regulatory factor 6 gene (lRF6 gene). The genetic alterations identified to date that contribute to expression of the syndrome are chiefly mutations located on chromosome 1 (the largest of our chromosomes), mutations at p36 that codifies the gene GRHL (grainy-head transcriptor factor) and mutations involving IRF6 (interferon regulatory factor). With frequency ranging from 1:35,000 to 1:100,000, depending on ethnicity, gender, and socio-economic status, the syndrome accounts for about 2% of orofacial clefts. The clinical and histomorphological aspects of VWS are studied, and a case of heterozygous female twins of whom only one was affected with VWS is reported.This very rare case (no similar case has been reported to date) contributes further evidence on modifying factors in the expression of this condition.

This paper analyzes some e-learning objects and didactics tools for improving mathematics education. The learning objects and tools analyzed are Videos, Applet Java, Geogebra, Wolfram|Alpha with his Widgets, Google Spreadsheets and Wiris. The analysis has been based on the parameters considered more suitable for didactics of mathematics. Such parameters are: interactivity, shareability, availability, applicability and feasibility. The paper presents a brief description of how the didactics is changing with internet, in particularly the didactics of the mathematics. It then shows the objects and tools selected with some application examples. Finally, it illustrates an comparison of the objects and tools based on the parameters listed above.

In accordo con la classificazione Inward/Outward delle organizzazioni di significato personale è stato costruito un nuovo, facile e rapido Mini Questionario sulla Organizzazione Personale (MQOP). Secondo il paradigma clinico, comportamenti stabili e prevedibili della figura accudente consentono una messa a fuoco dall’interno ed una percezione fisica della reciprocità: quando la reciprocità è alta si struttura la OSP Inward “Controllante”; quando la reciprocità è bassa si struttura la OSP Inward “Distaccata”. Comportamenti non prevedibili e variabili da parte del caregiver consentono una messa a fuoco dall’esterno ed una percezione semantica della reciprocità; quando questa è alta si struttura la OSP Outward “Contestualizzata”; quando invece è bassa si struttura la OSP Outward “Normativa”. Lo studio preliminare di validazione del MQOP ha mostrato che la versione finale del questionario è in accordo con la teoria post-razionalista che ne è alla base. Sono stati trovati quattro differenti fattori relativi a ciascuna OSP. Sono stati ottenuti buoni risultati per quanto concerne la validità di costrutto, la validità interna (Alpha=0.75) e l’attendibilità del test, con stabilità dei risultati nel tempo (r=.82 − .84). L’adeguatezza del test è stata evidenziata sia dalla buona concordanza tra le classificazioni ottenute dal MQOP e le valutazioni esterne (54%), sia dalla ottima concordanza dei punteggi con il QSP (83.3%).
