Summary Employing a Wald confidence interval to test hypotheses about population proportions could lead to an increase in Type I or Type II errors unless the hypothesized value, p0, is used in computing its standard error rather than the sample proportion. Whereas the Wald confidence interval to estimate a population proportion uses the sample proportion in computing its standard error, hypothesis tests about a population proportion should use the hypothesized value, p0, in its standard error. As a result, using the Wald confidence interval to test hypotheses about a population proportion could lead to an increase in either a Type I or a Type II error.

General physical education (GPE) affords many opportunities for students with and without disabilities to interact and develop positive peer relationships. This case study describes one teacher's use of collaborative practices, universal design for learning (UDL), and the inclusion spectrum to create an accessible learning environment in which the goals of both students with and without disabilities are addressed. Using UDL in conjunction with the inclusion spectrum allows teachers to examine the task structure to optimize learning experiences so that students with disabilities can actively engage with peers. Transitioning from everyone can play, to modified, to parallel and disability sport activities enables teachers to create lessons that incorporate learning objectives across a broad range of skills and abilities while promoting friendship and encouraging students to see their classmates with disabilities as contributing members. In order to serve the needs of all students, GPE teachers should consider using the principals of UDL and the inclusion spectrum to plan and instruct accessible lessons.

Purpose: Despite the extensive adoption of radio-frequency identification (RFID) technology across many industry supply chains, the extent of adoption in healthcare is far behind the earlier expectation. The purpose of this study is to better understand the current RFID adoption in healthcare by looking beyond the existing body of work using both the task-technology fit (TTF) framework and network externalities theories. Design/methodology/approach: A survey is employed in this study, and the structural equation modeling (SEM) technique is used to test the hypotheses of the proposed model. Findings: The findings are twofold. First, both TTF and network externalities exert a positive impact on the RFID adoption in the healthcare sector; and second, no synergistic effect can be found between these two for further increasing the adoption. This is different from what the extant research found on other technology adoptions across various supply chains. Originality/value: This paper provides contributions to both researchers and practitioners. For researchers, this study enriches the body of knowledge of RFID adoption by being the first to apply the network externalities and TTF theories to predict the adoption of RFID in healthcare. For healthcare practitioners, to make the RFID adoption easier and more effective, any initial applications of RFID tools should be centered on those for which there is a more natural application. Further, for those who propose an RFID adoption should start with a product that has a sizable adoption community; this may help persuade senior management to make the adoption decision. Three methods of handling disproportionate cell frequencies in two-way analysis of variance are examined. A Monte Carlo approach was used to study the method of expected frequencies and two multiple regression approaches to the problem as disproportionality increases. (Author/JKS)

Byline: Ken Black, Robert McGlashan This paper presents the results of a survey designed to help identify the desired personal characteristics of potential Black Belt candidates in organisations. In addition, an attempt was made to find out if there were differences in these desired Black Belt candidate characteristics according to industry, gender, and number of Black Belts already in each organisation. The authors surveyed companies in a wide variety of industries in the USA that claimed to have implemented a Six Sigma programme. The results of the study showed that several characteristics were more essential than others in considering potential Black Belt candidates.
