Abstract Power quality is a crucial determinant for integrating wind energy into the electrical grid. This integration necessitates compliance with certain standards and levels. This study presents cascadedfuzzy power control (CFPC) for a variable-speed multi-rotor wind turbine (MRWT) system. Fuzzy logic is a type of smart control system already recognized for its robustness, making it highly suited and reliable for generating electrical energy from the wind. Therefore, the CFPC technique is proposed in this work to control the doubly-fed induction generator (DFIG)-based MRWT system. This proposed strategy is applied to the rotor side converter of a DFIG to improve the current/power quality. The proposed control has the advantage of being model-independent, as it relies on empirical knowledge rather than the specific characteristics of the DFIG or turbine. Moreover, the proposed control system is characterized by its simplicity, high performance, robustness, and ease of application. The implementation of CFPC management for 1.5 MW DFIG-MRWT was carried out in MATLAB environment considering a variable wind speed. The obtained results were compared with the direct power control (DPC) technique based on proportional-integral (PI) controllers (DPC-PI), highlighting that the CFPC technique reduced total harmonic distortion by high ratios in the three tests performed (25%, 30.18%, and 47.22%). The proposed CFPC technique reduced the response time of reactive power in all tests by ratios estimated at 83.76%, 65.02%, and 91.42% compared to the DPC-PI strategy. Also, the active power ripples were reduced by satisfactory proportions (37.50%, 32.20%, and 38.46%) compared to the DPC-PI strategy. The steady-state error value of reactive power in the tests was low when using the CFPC technique by 86.60%, 57.33%, and 72.26%, which indicates the effectiveness and efficiency of the proposed CFPC technique in improving the characteristics of the system. Thus this control can be relied upon in the future.

Purpose: What matters is that blockchain may be used to record anything of value, not only financial transactions. It is becoming increasingly clear that blockchain technology will drastically alter several industries, notably finance. Without a question, the financial industry is leading the way in the use of blockchain technology. Blockchain is quickly transforming the world economy. Given that distributed ledger technology, or blockchain, has the potential to always have a positive impact on society and the economy, this impact is crucial. Actually, there are more than just economic advantages to the blockchain, and some organizations have already begun to use its technological capabilities to solve issues in the real world. In order to determine the influence of applied blockchain on economic sustainability as well as the benefits and drawbacks of blockchain application for economy, this study will do so. Design/ methodology/ approach: The terms "blockchain" and " economy" were used to find qualitative information in earlier work. Finally, 50 articles in the fields of business, management, and accounting that had undergone peer review as well as book chapters and conference proceedings were chosen. White papers and unreviewed books were removed as non-scientific sources. Qualitative data were collected from previous literature using the keywords “blockchain” and “economy”. Then, preliminary data was used, by conducting 15 interviews with experts and managers in the financial sector in Egypt about their opinion on the adoption of artificial intelligence and its impact on economic sustainability. Findings: From the interviews, the study collected more detailed information about the blockchain. This could be represented in the three main themes; theme of blockchain advantages, theme of blockchain disadvantages and challenges and theme of blockchain opportunities. Finally, some recommendations were made to decision makers as well as future researchers in this field according to the study results. ABSTRACT: The objective of this article is to present a research project and analyze how students, who are studying to become teachers of Portuguese as a Second Language/Additional Language (PSL/PAL) in a degree program at a public university in Brazil, narrate aspects of internationalization at the university, as well as the contribution of their degree program to this process. To achieve our objective, we analysed testimonials about internationalization written by students from the first year of the Teacher Education Degree Program in PSL/PAL, and transcripts of audio-recordings of semi-structured interviews carried out in 2023 with alumni. In both the narratives of students beginning their education and training, and in the alumni narratives, few aspects of internationalization were reported as being visible on campus. Mention was only made of student mobility and the presence of international students. However, the alumni narratives included visions of an expanded linguistic education – for pluralism and social justice – which had been shaped during their educational experience in the program. This signaled the potential of degree programs such as this one as means of developing a counter-hegemonic agenda for the internationalization of higher education.

In this work, a new indirect field-oriented command (IFOC) for wind systems based on a doubly-fed induction generator (DFIG) is designed to get better energy and stream quality. Also, overcoming the problems of IFOC. It is proposed to use proportional dual integral (PDI) controllers in order to replace traditional controllers and augment the robustness of the studied wind turbine system. The proposed IFOC-PDI is a modification of the IFOC, where the basic idea behind the designed technique is to combine a proportional-integral (PI) regulator with an integral term. This technique has been applied to the machine inverter, where the IFOC-PDI aims to calculate reference voltage values. The pulse width modulation (PWM) is used to translate voltage reference values ​​into pulses to run the machine inverter. The main objective of this article is to compare the competence of the IFOC-PDI to that of the IFOC-PI in different tests, including two different wind speed profiles and DFIG parameters variation. The major benefit of this command is a decrease in harmonic distortion of the currents, and active and reactive power (Ps and Qs) fluctuations. The results using MATLAB demonstrated that the IFOC-PDI improved the IFOC-PI in the minimization of stream harmonic distortion (6.63%, 10.42%, and 17.86%) and notable minimization of fluctuations in both Ps (32.08%, 46.24%, and 12.10%) and Qs (45.95%, 66.88%, and 14.49%). Also, the overshoot value of Ps was minimized compared to the IFOC-PI in all tests by ratios estimated at 57.79%, 12.41%, and 33.96%. The steady-state error of Ps was minimized compared to the IFOC-PI in all tests by ratios estimated at 29.43%, 85.88%, and 76.36%. The IFOC-PDI is also very resistant in the case of DFIG parameters variation.

This paper presents an innovative approach for automatic generation control for power system under a deregulated setting. The main objective of this work is to optimally tune the parameters of the fractional-order controller using the newly developed Aquila Optimizer (AO) to enhance system performance. A test system comprising a thermal power plant, a hydroelectric system, a gas turbine-based power plant, and wind energy sources is examined under deregulated environment. The study emphasizes the minimization of frequency variations, tie line deviations, and area control errors during diverse operational shifts. The proposed control strategy explores the response of generators in a hybrid deregulated power system, emphasizing the critical role of properly tuned Fractional Order Proportional-Integral-Derivative (FOPID) controllers in ensuring system stability. The potential and effectiveness of the proposed algorithm are compared with particle swarm optimization (PSO) and whale optimization algorithm (WOA) based controller performance for the same test system. The objective function for optimization is set as the minimization of the integral time and absolute error (ITAE) performance index. Furthermore, the efficacy of the proposed technique is compared with the Unified Power Flow Controller (UPFC) and its superiority is validated. Performance evaluation of the hybrid power system is conducted under Poolco agreement, bilateral agreement, and varying operating conditions. Comparative assessments reveal the superiority of the AO-driven FOPID over other techniques, demonstrating improved system metrics, including frequencies across different areas, tie-line power variations, and generator outputs.

Abstract The paper proposes a nonlinear controller called dual super-twisting sliding mode command (DSTSMC) for controlling and regulating the rotor side converter (RSC) of multi-rotor wind power systems that use doubly-fed induction generators. It was proposed that this controller be developed as an alternative to the direct power control (DPC), which makes use of a pulse width modulation (PWM) strategy to regulate the RSC's functioning. Overcoming the power/current quality issue with the proposed technique (DPC-DSTSMC-PWM) is characterized by great robustness and excellent performance. The designed strategy was contrasted with the standard method of control and other methods already in use. So, the unique proposed control strategy’s robustness, performance, efficiency, and efficacy in enhancing system characteristics were tested and validated in Matlab/Simulink. In both tests, the proposed method resulted in significant improvements, reducing active power ripples by 83.33%, 57.14%, and 48.57% in the proposed tests. When compared with the traditional regulation method, the reduction rates of reactive power ripples are 64.06%, 52.47%, and 68.7% in the tests. However, in contrast to the conventional method, the proposed tests showed a decrease of between 72.46%, 50%, and 76.22% in the value of total harmonic distortion (THD) of the provided currents. These ratios show how effective the proposed plan is in ameliorating and enhancing aspects of the energy system.

Abstract The rise of the renewable energy sources (RES) in microgrids has increased the impact of damping and low inertia on network stability. This gives rise to several issues in the power systems, including power fluctuations from variable RES, degradation of the frequency regulation, voltage surges, and oversupply from grid‐connected distributed generators. This paper presents a cascaded hybrid load‐frequency controller for an airport microgrid that addresses frequency fluctuations caused by load changes. It is combining a self‐adaptive fuzzy controller (SAF) and a classical two‐degree‐of‐freedom proportional integral derivative (PID) controller (2DOFPID) called CSAF‐2DOFPID. It is applied to the control section of a diesel generator, an electric aircraft energy storage system, and a demand response program. The controller parameters are optimized using a suggested hybrid differential artificial hummingbird algorithm (D‐AHA) to minimize frequency deviation. The proposed control framework is simulated on an airport microgrid comprising various components, and the impact of time delay on the controller's signals, system uncertainty is also examined. The simulation results demonstrate that the proposed self‐adaptive cascaded fuzzy controller outperforms other controllers such as PID, CF‐PID, and CF‐2DOFPID in reducing frequency fluctuations, and the D‐AHA algorithm achieves favourable results compared to other algorithms in the optimal tuning controller parameters.

Abstract Optimal energy management of electric vehicles using slap swarm optimization and differential flatness control has been proposed. A battery–supercapacitor power system is adopted. Each source is connected in parallel to the DC-bus using DC–DC bidirectional converters and supplies a synchronous reluctance motor (SynRM) based drive. The proposed EMS fundamental forces lie in using a combination of complementary proprieties of two approaches, a Slap Swarm optimization Algorithm and Differential Flatness (DF). With a fast optimization mechanism, the Slap Swarm optimization algorithm allows adapting in real-time conditions the DF gains to optimize the system performances. On its side, DF uses predefined trajectories respecting the physical proprieties of the system, which is a powerful tool to guarantee the dynamic constraints of the sources when ensuring desired robust control proprieties. To check the feasibility and performance of the suggested EMS, comprehensive processor-in-the-loop co-simulations of the electric vehicle were carried out using the C2000 launchxl-f28379d DSP board. The main goal of the proposed EMS is to guarantee the DC-bus stabilization, reducing the DC-bus voltage ripples (Δv = 5 V) and the voltage overshoots 15 V (3.2%), respect the source dynamics, and satisfy the SynRM motor power demand. Furthermore, the algorithm minimizes induced harmonics by the drive (10.49%), reducing the battery current ripple by 17.15A, thereby enhancing the battery lifecycle.

Knowledge graphs have become a common approach for knowledge representation. Yet, the application of graph methodology is elusive due to the sheer number and complexity of knowledge sources. In addition, semantic incompatibilities hinder efforts to harmonize and integrate across these diverse sources. As part of The Biomedical Translator Consortium, we have developed a knowledge graph-based question-answering system designed to augment human reasoning and accelerate translational scientific discovery: the Translator system. We have applied the Translator system to answer biomedical questions in the context of a broad array of diseases and syndromes, including Fanconi anemia, primary ciliary dyskinesia, multiple sclerosis, and others. A variety of collaborative approaches have been used to research and develop the Translator system. One recent approach involved the establishment of a monthly "Question-of-the-Month (QotM) Challenge" series. Herein, we describe the structure of the QotM Challenge; the six challenges that have been conducted to date on drug-induced liver injury, cannabidiol toxicity, coronavirus infection, diabetes, psoriatic arthritis, and ATP1A3-related phenotypes; the scientific insights that have been gleaned during the challenges; and the technical issues that were identified over the course of the challenges and that can now be addressed to foster further development of the prototype Translator system. We close with a discussion on Large Language Models such as ChatGPT and highlight differences between those models and the Translator system.

Reactive and active power vector control of induction generators (IG) are essential requirements for generating high-quality electricity from wind power. These control objectives are challenging and difficult to achieve when using traditional strategies based on estimating reactive/active power, hysteresis comparators, and proportional-integral (PI) regulators due to load variations, changes in the value of rotor resistance, etc. So, to achieve these control objectives, this paper proposes a novel technique for the rotor side converter of IG-based contra-rotating wind power (CRWP) systems. The control based on the neural synergetic-super-twisting controller (NSSTC) is designed to minimize IG power ripples and improve the quality of current. The characteristics of the NSSTC-based strategy are presented, evaluated, and compared to the traditional direct field-oriented command (DFOC) based on traditional PI controllers and other reference techniques from the literature, highlighting that the NSSTC-based strategy is simpler to apply and more robust and performant than others classical nonlinear strategies. Comparative simulations are carried out on both the designed DFOC-NSSTC strategy and the DFOC technique to demonstrate the performance (good quality output power, low total harmonic distortion (THD) value of rotor currents, short response time and high robustness) and advantages of the suggested nonlinear technique.
