In July 2021, the ICME 14 took place in Shanghai, China, as a hybrid event; a thematic focus of this international conference was the TSG 36 Research on Classroom Practice at Primary Level under the leadership of Shuhua An. The aim of this TSG is to share and discuss, at an international level, a wide variety of experiences of teaching and learning mathematics in the classroom (An et al., 2022). According to this aim the TSG 36 explored state-of-the-art strategies and approaches to address the concerns and problems, and advance the research on classroom practice with an ultimate goal of supporting it.

Dieser Beitrag wirft einen Blick auf 100 Jahre Grundschule aus allgemein grundschulpadagogischer Sicht sowie aus verschiedenen fachdidaktischen Perspektiven. Dabei werden historische Linien nachgezeichnet, die uber das Grundungsjahr 1919 hinausreichen, aber auch aktuelle Tendenzen und ihre Bedeutung fur zukunftige Entwicklungslinien aufgezeigt.

This chapter deals with the support of language learning in settings planned for mathematical learning by kindergarten teachers in small group interactions. In the sense of interactional linguistics, we analyse the usage and meaning of adjectives within the interaction processes between kindergarten teachers (The German Kindergarten is a non-mandatory institution for children between the age of 3 and 6) and children in 14 different situations dealing with length (9) or weight (While the mathematically and physically correct term would be mass, German curricular like the ‘Bildungsstandards’ (Sekretariat der Standigen Konferenz der Kultusminister der Lander in der Bundesrepublik Deutschland, Bildungsstandards im Fach Mathematik fur den Primarbereich (Jahrgangsstufe 4). Munchen, Wolters Kluwer, 2005) use the term Gewicht [weight]. In our data, the kindergarten teachers only talk about weight, so we decided also to use this word in this chapter) (5). These considerations are made against the background of measuring length and weight as basic topics in early mathematics education. The analysis shows that talking about measurement offers rich opportunities to acquire an understanding of adjectives. However, few kindergarten teachers seem to possess enough language awareness to productively use the emerging learning opportunities.

This book gives insight in the vivid research area of early mathematics learning. The collection of selected papers mirror the research topics presented at the third POEM conference. Thematically, the volume reflects the importance of this relatively new field of research. Structurally, the book tries to guide the reader through a variety of research aims and issues and is split into four parts. The first two parts concentrate on teacher professional development and child learning development; the third part pools research studies creating and evaluating designed learning situations; and the fourth part bridges focuses on parent-child-interaction.

This paper deals with the support of language learning in settings planned for mathematical learning by kindergarten teachers in small group interactions. Using qualitative and linguistic analysis tools, we will reconstruct patterns of language use, the correction strategies of kindergarten teachers, and their language sensible organization related to measuring and magnitude.

This study describes situations in German daycare facilities (Kindergarten) in which the development of mathematical thinking in children is specifically encouraged through examination of common play objects. Using micro-sociological methods of analysis, the mathematical potential of such interactions between teacher and child is elaborated within the framework of everyday pedagogical practices (Bruner, 1996) and instructional models (Rogoff; Mind, Cult Activ 1(4): 209–229, 1994). It is also considered which concepts of mathematics may be important in these interactions.

AIMS Catumaxomab is the first EMEA approved trifunctional anti-EpCAM×anti-CD3 antibody for the treatment of cancer patients with malignant ascites. A phase II pharmacokinetic study was conducted to determine local and systemic antibody concentrations and anti-drug antibody (ADA) development.

Unterricht ist gepragt durch soziale Kommunikation – das Gesprach in seinen vielfaltigen Auspragungsformen nimmt dabei eine vorrangige Rolle ein. Das Gesprach im Unterricht kann in sehr unterschiedlichen Sozial- bzw. Kooperationsformen eingebunden werden, zum Beispiel als Plenumsgesprach oder als Peergesprach wahrend der Partnerarbeit. Um die Komplexitat der Rollenstrukturen von Unterrichtsgesprachen zu erfassen, reicht daher die dichotome Gegenuberstellung der institutionellen Rollen Lehrperson und SchulerIn bzw. der Gesprachsrollen Sprecher und Horer nicht aus. An illustrativen Beispielen aus dem Unterrichtsalltag zeigt dieser Beitrag aus gesprachsanalytischer Perspektive Facetten der Partizipationsmoglichkeiten an Gesprachen im Unterricht auf.

We have investigated the frequency of methylation of several tumour suppressor genes in uveal melanoma. As the loss of one copy of chromosome 3 (monosomy 3), which is found in about half of these tumours, is tightly associated with metastatic disease, a special emphasis was laid on genes located on this chromosome, including the fragile histidine triad (FHIT), von Hippel–Lindau (VHL), β-catenin (CTNNB1), activated leukocyte cell adhesion molecule (ALCAM) and retinoic acid receptor-β2 (RARB) genes. In addition, the methylation patterns of the CpG-rich regions 5′ of the E-cadherin (CDH1), p16/cyclin-dependent kinase inhibitor 2 A (CDKN2A) and retinoblastoma (RB1) genes were analysed by bisulphite genomic sequencing or methylation-specific PCR (MSP). Furthermore, the SNRPN andD15S63loci, which are located in the imprinted region of chromosome 15, were included in the study. Aberrant methylation was detected in nine of 40 tumours analysed: The imprintedSNRPNandD15S63loci were hypermethylated in three tumours, all of which retained both copies of chromosome 3. MethylatedRARBalleles were detected in three tumours, whereas in three other tumoursCDKN2Awas found to be methylated. As we did not find RARB and CDKN2A preferentially methylated in tumours with monosomy 3, which is a significant predictor of metastatic disease, we suggest that these genes may play a causative role in the formation of uveal melanoma but not in the development of metastases.

The purpose of this chapter is the description of different instructional practices of mathematics education in the German kindergarten. It reports from the research project erStMaL (early Steps in Mathematical Learning), which aims at the development of early mathematical thinking in relation to different social contexts and in different mathematical domains. Using video data of this project, I will analyse three different situations between kindergarten teachers and children within the mathematical domain pattern and highlight the differences in pedagogical aspects of the everyday practices of mathematical instructions in Germany.

An Beispielen aus dem laufenden DFG-Projekt “Rekonstruktion von Formaten kollektiven Argumentierens” wird das methodologische Prinzip der Komparation vorgefuhrt und mit Blick auf seine forschungsmethodischen Implikationen im Rahmen interpretativer Unterrichtsforschung diskutiert.

SummaryIn most patients with isolated unilateral retinoblastoma, tumor development is initiated by somatic inactivation of both alleles of the RB1 gene. However, some of these patients can transmit retinoblastoma predisposition to their offspring. To determine the frequency and nature of constitutional RB1-gene mutations in patients with isolated unilateral retinoblastoma, we analyzed DNA from peripheral blood and from tumor tissue. The analysis of tumors from 54 (71%) of 76 informative patients showed loss of constitutional heterozygosity (LOH) at intragenic loci. Three of 13 uninformative patients had constitutional deletions. For 39 randomly selected tumors, SSCP, hetero-duplex analysis, sequencing, and Southern blot analysis were used to identify mutations. Mutations were detected in 21 (91%) of 23 tumors with LOH. In 6 (38%) of 16 tumors without LOH, one mutation was detected, and in 9 (56%) of the tumors without LOH, both mutations were found. Thus, a total of 45 mutations were identified in tumors of 36 patients. Thirty-nine of the mutations—including 34 small mutations, 2 large structural alterations, and hypermethylation in 3 tumors—were not detected in the corresponding peripheral blood DNA. In 6 (17%) of the 36 patients, a mutation was detected in constitutional DNA, and 1 of these mutations is known to be associated with reduced expressivity. The presence of a constitutional mutation was not associated with an early age at treatment. In 1 patient, somatic mosaicism was demonstrated by molecular analysis of DNA and RNA from peripheral blood. In 2 patients without a detectable mutation in peripheral blood, mosaicism was suggested because 1 of the patients showed multifocal tumors and the other later developed bilateral retinoblastoma. In conclusion, our results emphasize that the manifestation and transmissibility of retinoblastoma depend on the nature of the first mutation, its time in development, and the number and types of cells that are affected.

Birgit Brandt und Gyde Hock stellen dar, wie unterschiedliche Formen der Beobachtung im und von Mathematikunterricht vorgenommen werden und hinsichtlich ihres Ertrags fur Einsichten in mathematische Lern- und Arbeitsprozesse diskutiertwerden konnen.Halbstandardisierte und standardisierte diagnostische Beobachtungen, Lerntagebuch und Portfolio als Beobachtungsinstrumente sowie Beobachtungen von Arbeitsprozessen im interaktiven Unterrichtsgeschehen werden vorgestellt. Sichtbar wird, wie eine zeitliche Entkopplung der Beobachtung mit Hilfe von Videodaten und Transkription neue Einblicke in Mikrostrukturen des beobachteten Geschehens eroffnet und sich deswegen auch besonders fur den Einsatz in Aus- und Fortbildungskontexten eignet. Am Beispiel der genauen Nachzeichnung eines Losungsweges auf der Grundlage eines Transkriptes wird gezeigt, wie sich Schuler/-innen intensiv um das Textverstandnis einer mathematischen Aufgabe bemuhen.

The present paper describes the combined implementation of two approaches which are based on the work of Erving Goffman and focus on the analysis of the interactional participation structures. Our aim is to examine the ways that differing interpretations of the ongoing interactions may lead the students to adopt differing roles, which in turn affects the process of negotiating and establishing shared meanings. For this purpose we analyse the interaction processes in one expert group within the Jigsaw form of cooperation (Aronson, 1978), decomposing the participants roles according to their interactional status and their interpersonal effect. Our analysis points out the different roles that emerge in the process of collaborative interaction, and the influence of these roles on group achievement and individual learning possibilities. Studien zu Interaktionsprozessen im Unterricht werden seit Jahrzehnten durchgefuhrt. Im deutschsprachigen Raum liegen hierzu bereits Ubersichtsarbeiten aus der jungeren Zeit vor, insbesondere zur Lehrer-Schuler-Interaktion (vgl. Hofer 1997; Schweer 2000). Die in dieser Forschung verfolgten theoretischen und forschungsmethodischen Ansatze sind sehr unterschiedlich. Haufig wird eine grobe Unterscheidung nach der zugrunde liegenden forschungsmethodischen Orientierung (qualitativ oder quantitativ) vorgenommen. Diese Kate-gorisierung verdeutlicht jedoch nicht, dass sich dahinter in der Regel kaum miteinander vergleichbare theoretische Forschungsrichtungen verbergen (vgl. Erickson 1986). Die Darstellung des Forschungsstandes wird weiter dadurch erschwert, dass in diesen unterschiedlichen Ansatzen bei ubereinstimmender Terminologie haufig unterschiedliche theoretische Sachverhalte gemeint sind. Aus diesem Grunde wird im Folgenden zunachst auf die for-schungsparadigmatischen Unterschiede in den theoretischen Ansatzen zu Untersuchungen von Unterrichtsinteraktion eingegangen. Anschliesend werden Forschungsergebnisse und Details exemplarisch ausgewahlter Studien vorgestellt.

Jahrgangsubergreifende Lerngruppen werden als eine Moglichkeit zur Bewaltigung der padagogischen Probleme und Aufgaben der Grundschule gesehen und z.B. in Berlin zum nachsten Schuljahr gleichzeitig mit der Eingangsstufe fur den Schulanfang flachendeckend eingefuhrt. Obwohl es inzwischen durchaus eine Reihe von (Begleit-)Studien zur jahrgangsubergreifenden Unterrichtspraxis gibt (z.B. Carle/ Berthold 2004, Kucharz/ Wagener 2005), ist der konkrete Unterrichtsalltag bisher nur unzureichend beschrieben. Der vorliegende Beitrag untersucht Interaktionsprozesse in jahrgangsubergreifender Gruppenarbeit, die fur Lernprozesse zentral sind, aber im Unterricht kaum sichtbar werden.

Der folgende Beitrag ist dem interpretativen Forschungsparadigma zuzuordnen (Krummheuer/Naujok 1999) und knupft an Forschungsarbeiten von Krummheuer (1992, 1997) an. Aufgrund der Annahme der sozialen bzw. dialogischen Konstitution von Lernprozessen haben wir im DFG-Forschungsprojekt „Argumentationsformate im Mathematikunterricht der Grundschule“ (Krummheuer/Brandt 2000) ein Konzept zur Beschreibung der Partizipationsstrukturen im Unterricht entwickelt. Diese Partizipationsstrukturen emergieren im Interaktionsprozess durch wechselseitige Interpretationen. Durch die individuellen Deutungen der Beteiligten werden so die Bedingungen zur Ermoglichung (fachlichen) Lernens erzeugt. Die individuellen Deutungen der Schulerin Sabrina werden im Folgenden mit dem von uns entwickelten Konzept beschrieben.

In der Grundschule begegnet man zunehmend haufiger dem Konzept des Wochenplanunterrichts. Dabei erfahrt das Konzept im Unterrichtsalltag seine jeweilige „klassenspezifische“ Realisierung, an deren interaktiven Ausgestaltung alle Beteiligten mitwirken. Die Deutungen und Sinnsetzungen von Wochenplanunterricht in der Grundschule durch die Akteure lassen sich somit nicht aus den Vorstellungen der theoretischen Konzeptionalisierung herleiten. Dem Paradigma der Interpretativen Unterrichtsforschung (vgl. Krummheuer /Naujok 1999) folgend werden in diesem Beitrag Aushandlungsprozessel und der sich dadurch konstituierende Unterrichtsalltag im Wochenplanunterricht rekonstruiert. Als Grundlage dienen Videoaufzeichnungen aus einer ersten Klasse und einer Klasse mit jahrgangsubergreifender Zusammensetzung (1.-3. Jahrgang) in Berliner Grundschulen.2 In beiden Klassen hat die Wochenplanarbeit den gesamten Unterricht stark beeinflusst (vgl. Naujok 2000b).

A 3.6-kb DNA fragment from Streptomyces coelicolor A3(2) with the genes valS probably encoding a valyl-tRNA synthetase, folC encoding folylpolyglutamate synthetase, and ndk encoding a nucleoside diphosphate kinase was analysed. folC and ndk are separated by a small open reading frame of unknown function, orfX . The deduced folC gene product is a protein of 46 677 Da whose sequence is similar to other folylpolyglutamate synthetases and folylpolyglutamate synthetase-dihydrofolate synthetases from both Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria. After cloning folC behind the lacZ promoter, the Streptomyces folC complemented a folC mutant of Escherichia coli . An essential function for Streptomyces folC was suggested by the fact that it could not be mutated using a conventional gene disruption technique.

Predictive testing using molecular analysis is an integral part of contemporary retinoblastoma management. We have made extensive use of segregation analysis for risk assessment in both familial and sporadic disease. Investigation of loss of heterozygosity in tumor samples proved to be invaluable for the identification of linkage phase. In many families, however, accurate carrier risk assessment depends on direct identification of the causative R B I mutation. Consequently, we have developed methods for rapid mutation screening. Using these techniques, mutation analysis can now be offered to an increasing number of individuals.

The interfamilial diversity in penetrance and expressivity of hereditary retinoblastoma was investigated in 29 families. By using a simple parameter for estimating the severity of the disease (diseased-eye-ratio), we were able to identify four families with a discrete low-penetrance phenotype. The underlying genetic defect was identified in three families. One family has a 3-bp deletion in exon 16 that results in the deletion of Asn480. In two further unrelated families, the identical missense mutation at codon 661 in exon 20 (CGG to TGG, Arg to Trp) was identified. These mutations are distinct from the majority of retinoblastoma gene alterations, as they do not result in the disruption of the gene product. We propose that reduced penetrance of retinoblastoma is the result of a residual function of these alleles in retinoblastoma precursor cells.
