In implementing prostate cancer screening using photoacoustic imaging (PAI), transrectal delivery of light and transrectal ultrasound (TRUS) transducer for signal detection is the most commonly used approach for PAI system design. In this approach, energy-efficient light delivery and good alignment of laser excitation and acoustic detection are very important for optimal imaging sensitivity. The previously published works adopted dark-field illumination for their probes. In this study, we proposed and achieved bright-field illumination, which enables more laser energy to be delivered to the region of interest for imaging, resulting in higher sensitivity of the probe. Further, by using a single optical fiber instead of fiber bundle, the efficiency of laser transmission was significantly enhanced. The adoption of single optical fiber also enhances the flexibility of the probe for operation and lower the cost. A custom designed photoacoustic imaging system was built in this study to verify the feasibility of the probe for clinical translational application. The spatial resolution and enhanced signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) of the proposed probe were validated using PAI of phantoms. We demonstrated the use of probe in diagnosing prostate cancer in vivo using a canine model mimicking prostate cancer. Our results showed that the proposed probe could achieve high sensitivity and a wide field-of-view (FOV) in imaging prostate cancer. We also performed minimally-invasive real-time guidance of needle biopsy in ex vivo prostate, showing the potential of the probe for early screening of prostate cancer and early preventive treatment of prostate tumor.

BackgroundThe highly heterogeneous pathogenesis of depression and limited response to current antidepressants call for more objective evidence for depression subtypes. Reactive and endogenous depression are two etiologically distinct subtypes associated with different treatment responses. This study aims to explore the potential biomarkers that differentiate reactive and endogenous depressions.MethodsThe clinical manifestations and biological indicators of 64 unmedicated mild-to-moderate depression patients (32 reactive depression patients and 32 endogenous depression patients) and 21 healthy subjects were observed. The 24-item Hamilton rating scale for depression (HAMD-24) was used to evaluate the severity of depression. Serum levels of depression-related biological indicators were measured by using the enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay.ResultsThe NLRP3 level of reactive depression was significantly lower than those of endogenous depression and healthy controls. There was a significant negative correlation between the BDNF level and the HAMD-24 total scores for patients with reactive depression.ConclusionOur findings suggested the serum NLRP3 and BDNF levels could be potential biomarkers for detecting and evaluating the severity of reactive depression.

The effectiveness and safety of electroacupuncture (EA) for depression have been identified by abundant clinical trials and experimental findings. The c-Jun-NH(2)-terminal kinase (JNK) signaling pathway is considered to be involved in the antidepressant mechanism of EA. However, the antidepressant effect of EA via modulating the expression of c-Fos/activator protein-1 (AP-1) under the condition of JNK inhibition remains unexplored. In this study, we investigated the antidepressant effect and possible mechanism of EA in regulating the expression of c-Fos/AP-1 under the condition of JNK inhibition by SP600125 in rats exposed to chronic unpredictable mild stress (CUMS). The depression-like behaviors were evaluated by the body weight, sucrose preference test (SPT), and open field test (OFT). The expression levels of c-Jun in the hypothalamus, c-Fos in the pituitary gland, and c-Fos and AP-1 in the serum of CUMS induced rat model of depression were detected by ELISA. The results indicated that treatment with EA and fluoxetine can reverse the CUMS-induced depression-like behaviors in rats and can up-regulate the expression levels of c-Jun in the hypothalamus, c-Fos in the pituitary gland, and c-Fos and AP-1 in the serum. Of note, the data demonstrated that SP600125, the inhibitor of JNK signaling pathway, can exert synergistic effect with EA in regulating CUMS-induced abnormal activation of the JNK signaling pathway. The antidepressant effect of EA might be mediated by modulating the expression of c-Fos/AP-1.摘要:目前电针抗抑郁的有效性和安全性得到大量临床研究和实验结果的证实，JNK信号通路被认为是参与了电针抗抑郁的机制过程。然而，电针通过在阻断JNK信号通路条件下调节c-Fos/AP-1表达的抗抑郁机制尚未阐明。在本研究中，我们主要探究电针通过SP600125抑制JNK信号通路条件下调节慢性温和不可预知性应激(CUMS)抑郁模型c-Fos/AP-1表达的抗抑郁效应机制。通过体重监测、糖水偏好实验和旷场实验评价抑郁样行为；采用酶联免疫吸附剂测定技术(ELISA)检测下丘脑c-Jun、垂体c-Fos及血清c-Fos、AP-1水平。结果显示，电针及氟西汀干预显著改善了CUMS诱导的大鼠抑郁样行为，并逆转了CUMS诱导的下丘脑水平c-Jun、垂体c-Fos及血清c-Fos、AP-1上调表达。值得注意的是，研究数据表明JNK信号通路特异性阻断剂SP600125同电针一起在调节CUMS诱导的JNK信号通路异常激活上起到协同作用，电针抗抑郁效应可能是通过调节应激诱导的c-Fos/AP-1表达介导的。.

Radiative properties of 1s2l2l′3l′′ 5Le,o (l = s, p; l′ = p; l″ = s, p, d; L = P, D) states are studied using multi-configuration Rayleigh–Ritz method from Z = 7 to 14. Absolute energies including mass polarization and relativistic corrections are reported for the first time. The contribution of quantum electrodynamics and nuclear field shifts to the total energy is estimated. The variation of the fine structure splitting values with the configuration structure and with the nuclear charge number Z is discussed. The oscillator strengths and the radiative transition rates are calculated using nonrelativistic wave functions. The calculated wavelengths and lifetimes are compared with the theoretical and experimental references.

Excited-state energy levels for quartet states 1s22l2l′nl″ (n=2–7; l=s, p; l′=s, p; l″=s, p, d, f) pertaining to 4Le,o (m) (L=S, P, D; m=1–5) Rydberg series in Si9+ ion are studied, using multi-configuration Rayleigh-Ritz variation method. Corrections for the relativistic effects, mass polarization effect, and quantum electrodynamics (QED) effect are taken into account to obtain the accurate relativistic energies. Transition probabilities, line strengths, oscillator strengths, and wavelengths of electric-dipole transitions between these quartet states are systematically calculated and compared with available reference data. These calculated data could be used for the identification of spectral lines arising from the coronal atmospheres and experimental study in future work.

Using the saddle-point variation and saddle-point complex-rotation methods, energies, radiative, and Auger rates are calculated for the doubly-excited states 1s23l4l′ of beryllium-like ions. The total wave function is expanded by the restricted variation method to saturate the functional space and improve the nonrelativistic energy. Relativistic corrections and mass polarization effects are taken into account by the first-order perturbation theory. The partial Auger rates for these states are studied. The calculated Auger electron energies are compared with the experimental results which are observed in high resolution electron spectroscopy. The total radiative rates and the total Auger rates for these doubly-excited states 1s23l4l′ in the beryllium-like ions are also analyzed along with the increase of atomic number Z. Calculated results show that the total Auger rates are several orders of magnitude larger than the total radiative rates for these low-Z systems.

By systematic Rayleigh–Ritz variation calculations, the energies are reported for the core-excited states 1s2s2p2 5P and 1s2p3 5So in the Be-like isoelectronic sequence (Z = 11–20). Energy corrections, including the restricted variational method, mass polarisation, and relativistic effect, are considered to improve the accuracy of energy. The oscillator strengths and transition wavelength between these states are also reported. Computational data on hyperfine structures presented in this paper are calculated for the first time.

Primary familial brain calcification (PFBC) is a rare neurodegenerative disorder with four causative genes (SLC20A2, PDGFRB, PDGFB, and XPR1) that have been identified. Here, we aim to describe the mutational spectrum of four causative genes in a series of 226 unrelated Chinese PFBC patients. Mutations in four causative genes were detected in 16.8% (38/226) of PFBC patients. SLC20A2 mutations accounted for 14.2% (32/226) of all patients. Mutations in the other three genes were relatively rare, accounting for 0.9% (2/226) of all patients, respectively. Clinically, 44.8% of genetically confirmed patients (probands and relatives) were considered symptomatic. The most frequent symptoms were chronic headache, followed by movement disorders and vertigo. Moreover, the total calcification score was significantly higher in the symptomatic group compared to the asymptomatic group. Functionally, we observed impaired phosphate transport induced by seven novel missense mutations in SLC20A2 and two novel mutations in XPR1. The mutation p.D164Y in XPR1 might result in low protein expression through an enhanced proteasome pathway. In conclusion, our study further confirms that mutations in SLC20A2 are the major cause of PFBC and provides additional evidence for the crucial roles of phosphate transport impairment in the pathogenies of PFBC.

Energy levels, radiative transitions and Auger transitions of the core excited states from 1s2s 2 2p 2 and 1s2s2p 3 2,4 L ( L = S , P , D ) configurations for B-like systems including P 10+ , Ca 15+ , Mn 20+ , and Zn 25+ ions are calculated using the saddle-point variation and saddle-point complex-rotation methods. The first-order perturbation theory is used to calculate relativistic and mass polarization corrections. Present energy levels, radiative transition rates and wavelengths, Auger rates and electron energies are compared with theoretical and experimental values in the literature. The total radiative rates and the total Auger rates for these resonances are also discussed with nuclear charge numbers.

An environmental friendly waterborne polyurethane (WPU) dispersion was synthesized from polyethylene glycol (PEG), hexamethylene diisocyanate (HDI), diethylene glycol (DEG) and dimethylol propionic acid (DMPA). Solid polymer electrolytes based on WPU and LiTFSI were fabricated via an organic solvent free process. The LiTFSI salts were found to be dissolved in WPU by the coordination of Li+ ion with carbonyl and ether group in WPU. The as-prepared WPU showed a semi-crystalline structure and became amorphous after adding lithium salts. The ionic conductivities increased with the increase of salt concentration and followed the Arrhenius behavior. The 20 wt% LiTFSI in WPU electrolyte showed a superior comprehensive performance with an ionic conductivity of 7.3 × 10−4 and 2.2 × 10−3 S cm−1 at 60 °C and 80 °C. All-solid-state LiFePO4/SPE/Li cell using this electrolyte exhibited an initial discharge capacity of 151 mAh g−1 at 0.1C under 60 °C. All of these results demonstrate that this new WPU-based solid polymer electrolyte is a promising environmentally friendly candidate for all-solid-state lithium ion batteries. Bisphenol A (BPA) is a pollutant exits in an enormous amount in wastewater effluent resulted from the rapid industrialization. Advanced oxidation technology (AOP) based on solar photocatalysis can be employed to solve this issue. This study will focus on adopting photocatalyst graphitic carbon nitride (g-C3N4) with potassium niobate (KNbO3) via a simple sol-gel synthesis method. The different weight percentages 0.5, 1.0 and 1.5 wt% g-C3N4, were adopted to formed KNbO3/g-C3N4composites. The physicochemical properties of the created KNbO3/g-C3N4composites were characterized with advanced analysis methods to unveil this composite’s ability to enhance the photodegradation of BPA under sunlight irradiation. It was found that 1.0 wt% KNbO3/g-C3N4composites exhibited the highest photocatalytic degradation of 69.39% in 5 h. This superior photodegradation of BPA was achieved resulted from the presence of g-C3N4that enhances light-harvesting, especially in the visible light spectrum. The increase of light-harvesting enables the composite to excite more electrons and holes leading to the massive formation of active radicals. These massive active radicals will then enhance the redox reaction and further improve the efficacy of the photodegradation of BPA. Hence, the outcome of this study path an alternative solution for eliminating complex organic pollutants in wastewater treatment.

A series of waterborne polyurethane (WPU) with various hard segment and soft segment content were synthesized by hexamethylene diisocyanate (HDI), polyethylene glycol (PEG), dimethylol propionic acid (DMPA), and diethylene glycol (DEG). An increase in hard segment content decreased the crystallinity and thermal stability of WPU. Solid polymer electrolytes (SPEs) were prepared by complexing the as-prepared WPU with LiTFSI. The ionic conductivity increased first with the increasing of the hard segment content and then decreased. The compatibility of WPU-based SPEs with lithium electrode was influenced by the hard segment content. The electrochemical stability windows for all the SPEs have reached around 5.0 V (vs. Li+/Li) at 60 °C. A maximum ion conductivity of 5.14 × 10−5 S cm−1 at 25 °C was found for WPU12-20%Li and 1.29 × 10−3 S cm−1 at 60 °C for WPU12-25%Li. All-solid-state LiFePO4/SPE/Li battery based on WPU12-20%Li electrolyte delivered discharge specific capacities of 159 and 162 mAh g−1 under 60 and 80 °C at 0.1 C, respectively. Tuning the appropriate hard and soft segment composition of WPU may ultimately lead to the successful use of WPU-based SPEs for all-solid-state lithium ion batteries.

Nonrelativistic energies and wave functions of the 1s22s2p 3Po states of Be isoelectronic sequence (Z = 11–18) are calculated using the full core plus correlation method (FCPC). To obtain the accurate energy level, the relativistic corrections and mass polarization effect are included by using the first-order perturbation theory. The calculated excitation energies (relative to the 1s22s2 ground state) are compared with the experiment. Most of the calculated [Formula: see text] energies agree with the experiment to within a few inverse centimetres. The calculated hyperfine coupling constants are in good agreement with the latest theoretical data in the literature. Our results may provide valuable reference data for spectral analysis and identification in the future.

In order to control the growth of Microcystis in aquaculture ponds and reduce its adverse effect on water quality and aquaculture, a production-scale experiment of deep well circulation treatment was carried out in an aquaculture pond with water surface area of 63,000 m2 and water depth of 1.6–2.0 m. Compared with the control pond, the experiment pond had better water quality as indicated by 64.2% reduction in chlorophyll a, and 81.1% reduction in algal cells. The chemical oxygen demand, total nitrogen, and total phosphorus concentration were reduced by 55.1%, 57.5%, and 50.8%, respectively. The treatment efficiency is mainly due to the growth control of Microcystis (i.e. cell reduction of 96.4%). The gas vesicles collapsing because of the water pressure was suggested to be the mechanism for Microcystis suppression by the deep well circulation treatment. The Microcystis lost its buoyancy after gas vesicles collapsed and it settled to the bottom of the aquaculture pond. As a result, the algae reproduction was suppressed because algae could only grow in the area with enough sunlight (i.e. water depth less than 1 m).

Theoretical calculations are reported for energy levels and transition probabilities of the K-shell excited sextet series 6Se,o(m) and 6Po,e(m) (m = 1–7) for the astrophysically important element sulfur. Energy levels, fine structure splittings, and transition parameters of the high-lying sextet series 6Se,o(m) and 6Po,e(m) (m = 1–7) in boron-like sulfur ion are calculated with the multi-configuration Rayleigh–Ritz variation method. To obtain the accurate energy level, the relativistic corrections and mass polarization effect are included by using the first-order perturbation theory. Configuration structures of these sextet series are assigned according to the energies, percentage contributions of basis states to the eigenvector, relativistic effect corrections, and verification of fine structure splittings. The oscillator strengths, transition probabilities, and wavelengths of electric-dipole transitions between 6So,e(m) and 6Pe,o(m) (m = 1–7) states are also systematically calculated and discussed.

To investigate the effect of acupuncture on behavior changes and the expression of reactive oxygen species (ROS), cytochrome C, cysteine-containing aspartate-specific proteases-3 (caspase-3), apoptosis inducing factor (AIF) in the hippocampus of rats exposed to chronic restraint stress (CRS), so as to provide experimental evidence for the prevention and treatment of depression.Thirty two male SD rats were equally randomized into control, model, acupuncture and medication (Fluoxetine) groups according to the random number table. The depression model was established by chronic psychological stress stimulation (fasting, water deprivation, chronic restraint combined with solitary raising for 28 days). Manual acupuncture stimulation (2 circles/s) was applied to "Baihui" (GV20), "Yintang" (GV29) and bilateral "Sanyinjiao" (SP6) for 2 min, followed by retaining the needles for 20 min. Rats in the medication group were treated by gavage of Fluoxetine (0.18 mg/mL, 1 mL/100 g body weight). The treatment was conducted once daily for 28 days. The depression-like behavior was evaluated by using open-field test, sucrose preference test, and body weight. The content of ROS of the right hippocampus tissue was detected by using dichloro-dihydro-fluorescein diacetate (DCFH-DA) assay, and the expression levels of cytochrome C, caspase-3 and AIF proteins of hippocampus were determined by using Western blot.After 28 days' stress procedure, the depression rats in the model group showed a significant decrease in the numbers of crossing and rearing of open-field test, sucrose preference index and the body weight compared to the control group (Acupuncture intervention can significantly reduce ROS content and expression level of cytochrome C, caspase-3 and AIF proteins in the hippocampus possibly by inhibiting the chronic psychological stress-hippocampal oxidative stress-mitochondrial apoptotic pathway in psychological stress-induced depression rats, which may contribute to its effect in relieving depression.

To investigate the effect of acupuncture intervention on the depression behavior and expression of extracellular signal-regulated protein kinases (ERK 1/2), p-ERK 1/2 and brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF) in the prefrontal cortex of chronic unpredictable mild stress (CUMS) induced depression rats, so as to explore its antidepressant mechanism.Sixty-four male SD rats were randomly divided into control, model, acupuncture, Fluoxetine, model ＋ Dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO), model ＋ PD 98059(an ERK pathway inhibitor), acupuncture ＋ PD 98059 and Fluoxetine ＋ PD 98059 groups (Compared with the control group, the sucrose consumption and the expression levels of p-ERK 1/2 and BDNF protein in the prefrontal cortex were significantly reduced in the model and model＋DMSO group (Acupuncture intervention has an anti-depressive role in CUMS induced depression rats, which may be related to its effects in up-regulating the expression of p-ERK 1/2 and BDNF in the prefrontal cortex tissue.
