This paper investigates the association of housing configurations reflected by different regimes with more specifically determined elements of the welfare state regime, which are pension regimes. The study aims to answer the question of whether the linkage between housing and pensions can be recognized also at the “regime” level. For this purpose, in our analysis, we review and employ the existing typologies of housing and pension regimes identified in the previous literature. The paper presents the results of empirical research comprising comparisons between housing and pension regimes, with reference to decommodification and stratification, as well as homeownership in 24 welfare states. We found little empirical evidence for the existence of a straightforward correspondence between housing regimes and pension regimes. Nonetheless, our analysis reveals some findings that refer to common characteristics in terms of decommodification and stratification in both domains. This could be also a premise for further research to investigate the nexus between pensions and housing by identifying similarities within joint housing‐pension regimes. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Mother–offspring communication is especially crucial for social species in order to synchronize activities essential for early survival including nursing, resting, maintaining proximity during group movements between food or water sources, and locating one another if separated in a large social group. One of the most social ungulate species in North America is the American Bison (Bison bison), formerly known as buffalo. Adult female bison associate with their young for over a year and communication between mother and offspring is likely essential for establishing and maintaining a bond upon which the life of a calf depends. One goal of this study was to quantify and compare the acoustic form of vocalizations of adult female, subadult, and calf bison and to determine how age classes differed in call structure. The other goal was to identify the contexts in which bison vocalized. Vocalizations of 101 bison (53 adult females, 15 subadults, 33 calves) in a semi-free-ranging herd in Montana were analyzed and found to be pulsatile sounds, unlike vocalizations of bison bulls or domestic cows and calves. Vocalizations of bison cows, subadults, and calves differed significantly in total duration, numbers of pulses, pulse duration, and pulse rate. Seven distinct call contexts were identified. The majority of calls were "moving-on calls" (39%), when a cow called and her calf ran to her side and the 2 moved on together, and "contact calls" (21%) when a cow called and her calf called back but neither changed their location. "Imprinting calls" and "nursing calls" were also identified. Mother–offspring acoustic communication in bison appears especially critical for coordinating movements. Understanding the role of acoustic communication in maintaining the bond between bison mothers and their offspring can contribute to the humane management and welfare of this iconic species. - Abstract
This paper describes a model for thinking of how participants make sense of temporal aspects of their lived experience. The paper argues for the valuable input that interpretative phenomenological analysis (IPA) can make to exploring this experiential timeline. After a brief introduction to IPA as an experiential research methodology, I will describe the growing interest in longitudinal research among qualitative researchers and outline recent thinking on this by leading researcher Bren Neale. I will then point to the distinctive contribution IPA can make to understanding personal experience of time and change. I will present a taxonomy of my IPA research engaging with it and illustrate each study type with research I have been involved in. During the paper we will see the way in which there are indeed two time-travelers involved in this process: researcher and the participant. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Guinea pigs in intensive production generates an imperative necessity of physio-pathological bases for diagnosing their state of welfare, health, and production; those which are available for this species are referred to as laboratory or companion animal. The aim of this research is to determine changes in hematological and blood metabolites profiles in relation to age of Cavia porcellus reared in intensive system at 660 masl in humid tropic. For this purpose, forty 15-120 days old guinea pig in healthy conditions from the inti x Peru lines born in the humid tropic were used and the evaluation ages were 15-21, 22-35, 36-60 and 61-120 days. Blood samples were obtained by puncture of the cephalic vein; profiles of erythrocytes (RBC), total leucocytes (WBC), lymphocytes, granulocytes, hematocrit, hemoglobin, MCV, MCH and MCHC indices were determined. In serum, profiles of glucose, total protein (TP), albumin, total cholesterol (TC), triglycerides, total bilirubin (TB), and direct bilirubin (DB), alanine aminotransferase (ALT) and aspartate aminotransferase (AST) were determined. Hemoglobin profile, MCH and MCHC indices increased as age increased (p < 0;05) and the erythrocytes, leucocytes, hematocrit, hemoglobin profiles and MCV, MCH, MCHC indices showed the narrower interval ranges in the 15-35- and 61-120-days old guinea pigs. Profiles of TP, DB and AST showed increase with age (p < 0;05) and the DB, AST, ALT, and TC profiles showed the narrower interval range at 36-120 days old. The hematological and blood metabolites profiles of guinea pigs raised in intensive system in humid tropical conditions show significant changes with production age. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The research intended to adapt and validate the self-report job precariousness scale for the Brazilian gig work context and to investigate the association of the dimensions of job precariousness with gig workers' subjective experiences and work outcomes. Exploratory and confirmatory factor analyses were conducted on a sample of 504 Brazilian gig workers. In addition, zero-order correlations were performed on a sample of 304 Brazilian gig workers for criterion validity analysis. Results supported a four-factor structure and the bi-factor model, reinforcing the assumption that the job precarious scale is a multidimensional measure with a hierarchical structure. Reliability analysis (Alpha coefficient and bifactor indices) indicates that the scale presented adequate internal consistency for all four dimensions and the full scale. Results regarding criterion validity demonstrate that job precariousness is negatively linked to well-being and positively associated with ill-being; in addition, the dimensions of job precariousness and remuneration have significative associations with all variables of work outcome investigated. This study introduces the Brazilian version of the self-report job precariousness scale with robust psychometric qualities to assess workers' perception of precarious working conditions in the Brazilian gig work context. In addition, it broadens the scope of research on precarious working conditions and their impact on psychological experiences and work outcomes. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Disasters triggered by extreme natural events are increasing yearly, especially those related to climate hazards. Globally, these events generate huge losses, causing millions of people to fall into poverty. Estimating these damages and losses accurately is crucial for public policies. However, existing methodologies are biased towards immediate effects and do not consider secondary effects or other impacts associated with welfare. Although in Chile the effects of disasters result in a relatively low number of victims and material damages considering the country's level of disaster risk, it is urgent to better understand the effects of disasters on the population. This paper proposes a model for analyzing post-disaster secondary effects in Chile, related to the welfare of the population in the medium term. By considering time series of administrative information related to different dimensions of welfare, it is possible to shed light on the long-term effects of these events on the population, including those not usually contemplated by post-disaster recovery policies. The study concludes with a discussion of possible actions aimed at ensuring a comprehensive recovery of the communities.

Drawing on the
aesthetics of engagement proposed by the philosopher Arnold Berleant, this article sets out an environmental aesthetic approach to the human geographic debate about ruins. By adopting a relational understanding of self and world, the focus is on the immersive and multisensory experience of ruins including (im)material, bodily and cognitive accounts.Sensitive recording is introduced as a method to make experiences accessible in their situativity and fragility. Based on an empirical case study in the derelict Beelitz sanatorium in Germany, the article reveals three central qualities of experience that can be encountered in the ruins: emotive, challenging and irritating qualities. Such experiential qualities bring to light the significance of situative tensions at the threshold of absence and presence, past and present, familiar and unfamiliar, or vitality and lifelessness. By describing such tensions, we gain greater insight into the disruption of the familiar. Therefore, we can assess the emergent qualities of experience with the concepts of ‘haunting’ and ‘uncanny’. Furthermore, we discover that encounters with the derelict place reveal qualities of wellbeing and connectedness. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]- Published

- Abstract
There is still no consensus in the scientific community in the debate on the relationship between mental health and the use of video games. This study examined the association between mental health, in terms of well-being and psychological symptomatology, and video games use, in terms of hours of use and positive or negative experiences. The sample consisted of two groups of Argentine participants, one made up of 189 gamers (Mage = 30.1 years, SD = 9.46; 66.1% male) and a second group formed by 91 non-gamer participants (Mage = 33.4 years, SD = 11.1; 87.91% female). The results showed no linear or curvilinear relationship between mental health and the number of hours spent gaming, and no differences in the level of mental health between gamers and non-gamers. Associations were found between psychological symptomatology and negative gaming experiences, as well as between well-being and positive gaming experiences. The results would support the displacement, compensation, and bidirectional hypotheses. Mental health and gambling experiences do not appear to be independent phenomena. The moderated interaction hypothesis is proposed as a new hypothesis for future research. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Studies on happiness management investigate improvements in well-being and job satisfaction, which positively impact productivity. The aim of this paper is to better understand the evolution of and the academic and professional perspective of happiness management research. For this purpose, a bibliometric, longitudinal and descriptive analysis was done as of August 2, 2023, identifying 347 research studies in journals indexed in Scopus, the data of which were explored with VOSviewer and Microsoft Excel. The results show the ascent of the specialty around 2009 with 10 articles per year, reaching 59 in 2022, which were published in various Q1 ranking journals, predominantly in the social sciences, business management and accounting. The USA, Spain and China lead the scientific production in this regard, and the participation of 345 authors from 77 countries is registered. In conclusion, happiness management studies have been expanding in the last decade because, in addition to contributing to the increase of well-being at work from multiple areas, they form international research networks. We examined the associations between sense of community (SoC) and multidimensional academic engagement, including whether meaning in life and subjective well-being mediate the relationships. Participants were Nigerian students who completed the Classroom Sense of Community Inventory-School Form (csci-sf), Meaning in Life Questionnaire's (mlq) Presence subscale, Brief Adolescent Subjective Well-being in School Scale (baswss), and Utrecht Work Engagement Scale - Student Version (uwes-s-9). Data was analysed using Model 6 of Hayes' regression-based PROCESS module. Results showed that both presence of meaning and subjective well-being mediated the effects of aspects of SoC on vigour, dedication and overall academic engagement. The effects of SoC on absorption was only mediated by subjective wellbeing. Mediation pathways were not significant for the effects of learning SoC on absorption. In all cases, the strongest mediation existed in the paths linking social SoC to academic engagement through subjective wellbeing. Promotion of classroom SoC may facilitate presence of meaning in life and subjective wellbeing thereby enhancing academic engagement. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Background: Donaldson & Donaldson (2021b) developed a scale to assess Positive Functioning at Work, adding four new blocks to strengthen the original PERMA framework in the workplace. The aim of the present study was to validate this scale in a Spanish sample. Method: 698 Spanish workers participated, 59% were women and 41% were men, 71.6% were employees and 71.2% belonged to the basic worker level. Results: Confirmatory Factor Analysis showed a good fit of the nine-factor model (χ²/df = 2.441; RMSEA = .056, 90% IC (.049, .063); SRMR =. 062; CFI = .926; TLI = .916), the bifactor model (χ²/df = 1.703; RMSEA = .044, 90% CI [.037, .050]; SRMR = .050; CFI = .959; TLI = .952) and the ESEM model (χ²/df = 1.736; RMSEA = .041, 90% CI [.033, .049]; SRMR = .017; CFI = .976; TLI = .942). The adapted scale also demonstrated good internal consistency, with a Cronbach's α of .90 for the scale, and evidence of discriminant, criterion, predictive, and incremental validity with other well-being and performance measures, as well as measurement invariance across educational levels. Conclusions: This scale provides a comprehensive measurement tool that can help in the design of workplace programs and interventions. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

In this research, a narrative bibliographic review has been carried out, developing the variables Spirituality and Human Flourishing, allowing us to establish that connectivity with oneself has positive results in people's daily lives. Spirituality has been defined as a complex construct that encompasses different dimensions related to aspects such as connectivity, universality and fulfillment in prayer, which reflect different elements of spiritual transcendence and are linked to the experience of subjective and psychological well-being. Human well-being implies optimal conditions in the axes of Flourishing, which is the second variable chosen. Human Flourishing is progressive improvement, the highest individual goal, which has as its fundamental axis the capabilities and needs of the human being, cultivating moral and intellectual virtues. With this research, it was determined that through the transcendental dimension of each person, positive connotations can be generated in mental and, therefore, physical health.

Background: Medical professionalism is an essential characteristic of excellent physicians and in most need of training. It should involve areas not included in traditional frameworks, such as physicians’ self-care and social accountability. This study aims to develop a comprehensive self-assessment instrument to improve medical professionalism training in medical students. Methods: Mixed-methods design that integrated a scoping review, a qualitative framework method, and a cross-sectional design. The qualitative phase included focus groups with 19 medical students and 9 in-depth interviews with clinician educators. The quantitative phase included descriptive and exploratory factor analysis of 112 interviews to fifth-year medical students at the Catholic University in Chile. Results: In the scoping review, 290 articles were screened. The Professionalism Mini-Evaluation Exercise (P-MEX) instrument was selected as the reference instrument. The qualitative phase generated 188 open codes and 468 quotes, which were analyzed using the Atlas-ti 8.0 software®. Three levels of professional assessment emerged. The micro level included self-reflection and self-care skills; the meso level included doctor–patient relationship, team interaction, and management skills; and the macro level included social accountability skills. The new adapted instrument (P-MEX-LA) contained 30 items and achieved high reliability and internal consistency (Omega 0.86; Cronbach’s alpha 0.82). Self-care and social accountability skills were the areas with the lowest level of achievement by students. Discussion: A Latin American self-assessment version of the P-MEX instrument (P-MEX-LA) that included self-care and social accountability skills achieved high content validity, internal consistency, and reliability. It could contribute to improving medical professionalism training among medical students.

autopresentación ,online ,rasgos positivos ,personalidad ,integridad ,bienestar ,salud mental ,Psychology ,BF1-990 - Abstract

Introduction: Pamela Reed's mid-range theory of Self-Transcendence is grounded in the developmental nature of people in adolescence, adulthood, aging, and end of life, in the context of difficult healthrelated experiences, focused on the maintenance of well being through self-transcendence during the aging process. Objective: Critical evaluation of Pamela Reed's Self-Transcendence Theory for use in the context of drugs. Methodology: Through the criteria proposed by Fawcett (2009) in which the significance, internal consistency, parsimony and testability of the theory and an integrative literature review of the theory in its application to the drug phenomenon are evaluated. Results: The theory showed significance, parsimony, and its concepts and propositions are explicit, clear and understandable, and have been measured using Reed's Self-Transcendence Scale. Conclusions: The Self-Transcendence Theory applied in the context of drugs is useful to respond to the different problems that arise in society with respect to drugs and is applicable at any stage of life. - Abstract
The study explores the impact of an optimistic approach on an individual's life satisfaction. The study aims to understand the relationships between variables and determine whether they align with previous research findings showing that an optimistic approach benefits greater life satisfaction. The study was conducted in Pakistan. Two hundred participants were taken through purposive sampling, belonging to different socio-economic backgrounds. They were administered The Life Orientation Test (LOT) and Satisfaction with Life Scale (SWLS). To establish inter-item consistency, Cronbach alpha value was found for LOT as (a = .69-.72) and for SWLS as (a = .83-.92). Results showed a positive & relatively strong correlation (r=.473, n=200, p=.000) between the two variables through Pearson correlation test. Further, Regression was applied, resulting in a highly significant relationship f (1, 98) = p<0.05, R2=.552. Despite low optimism scores, a high level of life satisfaction was determined, and when optimism increases by 1 point, the life satisfaction score increases by 2,141 points. Based on the results of the study, the influence of optimism on life satisfaction in the context of Pakistan is discussed. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

- Abstract
Psychological, social, behavioral, and biological factors have been investigated as possible protective or detrimental characteristics for health and well-being, but their influences or relationships with spirituality have not been largely examined in health research; Hence, the objective of this research was to establish an approach to the study of the categories of Spirituality, Health and Well-being, their possible interrelation, as well as to examine the techniques that promote it based on a review of the scientific literature of various theorists. In conclusion, the results showed with respect to the conceptualization of Spirituality that even though there is no consensus, the authors agree that it is assumed as a multidimensional and essential category in the human being as an individual experience, a way of life that includes values and beliefs. A relationship was also found between spirituality and health improvement, along with a close link between spirituality and well-being, with a diversity of techniques that contribute to well-being and this can be achieved by promoting spirituality. Background: The Teacher Emotion Inventory (TEI) scale is an instrument that evaluates discrete emotions experienced by teachers in the teaching-learning process. The aim of this study was to examine the psychometric properties of the brief Spanish version of the Teacher Emotion Inventory scale (TEI-BSV) using a sample of 567 teachers (65.5% women), aged between 25 and 65 years (M = 46.04; SD = 9.09). Methods: After adaptation through back-translation, the teachers completed a battery of tests included in the TEI-BSV: an emotional intelligence questionnaire, two subjective well-being scales, a burnout scale and a scale on engagement. Results: The data revealed adequate internal consistency of the TEI-BSV subscales, and exploratory and confirmatory factor analyses provided evidence that the TEI-BSV has a fourfactor structure with good adjustment, as opposed to the original fivefactor structure proposed. There was evidence of convergent validity of the TEI-BSV, as well as criterion and incremental validity. Conclusions: The TEI-BSV could be a useful instrument for the ecological assessment of teachers' discrete emotions in the context of their workplace. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

COMMUTING , *JOB satisfaction , *WELL-being , *WORK-life balance , *COMMUTERS - Abstract
Daily commuting and its impact on job satisfaction have been the focus of numerous studies. Limited research, however, has explored the bidirectional relationship between the two factors, and most studies have relied on cross-sectional designs. This study addresses this research gap by using four waves of panel data from the China Family Panel Studies to examine the dynamic and reciprocal relationship between commuting time and job satisfaction. A bivariate latent change score model is employed to analyze the data. Our findings reveal a bidirectional association between commuting time and job satisfaction. Individuals with high job satisfaction tend to maintain their commute time, whereas those with shorter commutes experience faster growth in job satisfaction. Increases in commute time positively affect employment income but have a negative impact on job satisfaction, suggesting that financial benefits might not fully compensate for the full cost of commuting on work. Moreover, changes in commute time do not significantly influence working hours, indicating that commuting primarily affects work–life balance rather than the actual hours worked. This study provides valuable insights into the complex dynamics of commuting and job satisfaction, informing evidence-based policy decisions for managing commuting and improving employee satisfaction.
