BioScience is an advanced Python library designed to satisfy the growing data analysis needs in the field of bioinformatics by leveraging High-Performance Computing (HPC). This library encompasses a vast multitude of functionalities, from loading specialized gene expression datasets (microarrays, RNA-Seq, etc.) to preprocessing techniques and data mining algorithms suitable for this type of datasets. BioScience is distinguished by its capacity to manage large amounts of biological data, providing users with efficient and scalable tools for the analysis of genomic and transcriptomic data through the use of parallel architectures for clusters composed of CPUs and GPUs.

In the present scenario, the transportation Cyber Physical System (CPS) improves the reliability and efficiency of the transportation systems by enhancing the interactions between the physical and cyber systems. With the provision of better storage ability and enhanced computing, cloud computing extends transportation CPS in Mobile Edge Computing (MEC). By inspecting the existing literatures, the cloud computing cannot fulfill the requirements in transportation CPS like lower context-awareness and latency. For enhancing the context-awareness and reducing the latency in a realistic MEC environment, an efficient portable deep learning model: Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) with Chaotic Lévy Flight based Firefly Algorithm (CLFFA) is implemented in this article. In the CNN model, the CLFFA selects the appropriate hyper-parameters or reduces the redundant parameters that results in minimal model size and inference latency than the traditional CNN models. Additionally, the CNN-CLFFA model significantly outperformed the existing models by means of recall, accuracy, F1-score, and precision on the benchmark datasets like German Traffic Sign Recognition Benchmark (GTSRB), MIOvision Traffic Camera Dataset (MIO-TCD) classification, and VCifar-100 datasets. The numerical analysis demonstrates that the CNN-CLFFA model obtained maximum accuracy of 99.02%, 99.11%, and 99.03% on the VCifar-100, MIO-TCD, and GTSRB-T datasets, which are superior to the traditional models.

IN738LC alloy has broad application potential in modern aerospace and energy industries due to its excellent high-temperature durability, excellent corrosion and fatigue resistance, however, its application has been greatly limited due to its high crack sensitivity. To address this challenge, this research proposes a method of incorporating TiC nanoparticles to mitigate cracks and enhance the strength of the nickel-based materials. The crack-free TiC-IN738LC materials were successfully fabricated using laser-powder bed fusion. The relationship between the processing parameters and processed quality was studied. The fracture morphology and mechanical properties of samples were analyzed and the strengthening mechanisms of nano-TiC particles were clarified. The results showed that volume energy density (VED) = 111.1J/mm3 is the optimal processing parameter with the laser energy 225W, scanning speed 750 mm/s, and 0.09 mm hatch distance. The effects of processing parameters were discussed in depth. Compared with the virgin IN738LC, the microhardness of TiC-IN738LC is improved by 20 %–40 %, and the tensile strength of TiC-IN738LC is enhanced by 5%–30 %, respectively, which indicates the significant strengthening effect of nano-TiC on IN738LC. The synergistic effect of fine grain strengthening, load-bearing strengthening and Orowan strengthening mechanisms was accounted for the performance enhancement. The research results provide an experimental reference for selecting the processing parameters of TiC-IN738LC.

Abstract From an engineering point of view, non‐linear systems are essential to the operation of control systems, because all systems actually have a non‐linear state in nature. In reality, there are many different kinds of non‐linear systems hidden by this negative definition. For successful analysis and control, the identification of non‐linear systems using unknown models is typically necessary. Till now, numerous approaches are developed for identifying non‐linear systems, but it cannot be employed with a large number of components. Moreover, system identification is typically restricted to output and input signals alone, also such systems are rarely used in reality. This is the primary justification for using non‐linear systems in this research. So, this research proposed a non‐linear model of system identification for large‐scale systems under the consideration of two systems: bilinear system and Volterra system. Therefore, a novel algorithm named Self Adaptive Penguin Search Optimization (SAPeSO) is introduced to attain the system characteristics properly and minimize the output variation. Finally, the effectiveness of the proposed work is compared with existing works in terms of various error measures. This research mainly focuses on the application‐oriented engineering problems. In particular, the Mean Absolute Error (MAE) of the proposed work for the Volterra system at 4000 samples is 18.83%, 14.05%, 8.88%, 29.72%, 19.91%, and 6.70% which is better than the existing bald eagle search (BES), arithmetic optimization algorithm (AOA), whale optimization algorithm (WOA), nonlinear autoregressive moving average with exogenous inputs‐ frequency response function + principal component analysis (NARMAX‐FRF+PCA), Global Gravitational Search Algorithm‐Assisted Kalman Filter (CGS‐KF), and sparse regression and separable least squares method (SR‐SLSM) methods, respectively. Finally, the error is minimum for the proposed model when compared with the other traditional approaches.

Currently, the Internet of Things (IoT) generates a huge amount of traffic data in communication and information technology. The diversification and integration of IoT applications and terminals make IoT vulnerable to intrusion attacks. Therefore, it is necessary to develop an efficient Intrusion Detection System (IDS) that guarantees the reliability, integrity, and security of IoT systems. The detection of intrusion is considered a challenging task because of inappropriate features existing in the input data and the slow training process. In order to address these issues, an effective meta heuristic based feature selection and deep learning techniques are developed for enhancing the IDS. The Osprey Optimization Algorithm (OOA) based feature selection is proposed for selecting the highly informative features from the input which leads to an effective differentiation among the normal and attack traffic of network. Moreover, the traditional sigmoid and tangent activation functions are replaced with the Exponential Linear Unit (ELU) activation function to propose the modified Bi-directional Long Short Term Memory (Bi-LSTM). The modified Bi-LSTM is used for classifying the types of intrusion attacks. The ELU activation function makes gradients extremely large during back-propagation and leads to faster learning. This research is analysed in three different datasets such as N-BaIoT, Canadian Institute for Cybersecurity Intrusion Detection Dataset 2017 (CICIDS-2017), and ToN-IoT datasets. The empirical investigation states that the proposed framework obtains impressive detection accuracy of 99.98 %, 99.97 % and 99.88 % on the N-BaIoT, CICIDS-2017, and ToN-IoT datasets, respectively. Compared to peer frameworks, this framework obtains high detection accuracy with better interpretability and reduced processing time.

Recently, Electric Vehicles (EV) have been providing fast response and substantial progress in the power generation model. Further, EVs are exploited as adaptable Energy Storage Systems (ESSs) and show a promising performance in ancillary service markets to increase the demand of Smart Grid (SG) integration. The expansion of Vehicle-to-Grid concept has created an extra power source when renewable energy sources are not available. Yet, numerous operational problems still are required to be considered for EV implementation to turn out to be extensive. Even the development of Photo-Voltaic (PV) technology creates a problem in SGs when used for EV charging. Because of this, the Energy Management System (EMS) is required to handle charging requirements and deal with the intermittent generation. Here, in this research, an Improved Honey Badger algorithm (IHBA) is proposed for integrating SGs with EV parking lot, solar panels, and dynamic loads at the Point of Common Coupling (PCC). The proposed IHBA uses a dynamic programming method to optimize the charging Grid-to-Vehicle (G2V) or discharging Vehicle-to-Grid (V2G) profiles of the EVs using the forecasts of PV generation. This algorithm considers user preferences while also lowering reliance on the grid and maximizing SG effectiveness. The study’s findings show that the Honey Badger method is efficient in resolving issues involving large search spaces. The developed method is used to optimize charging and discharging of EV which is tested in MATLAB to obtain a stable load profile. From the evaluation of obtained results, it is evident that the IHBA controller outperforms the WOA and EHO controllers in terms of total harmonic distortion voltage (3.12%), power loss (0.197 kW) and efficiency (98.47%).

In recent decades, image processing and computer vision models have played a vital role in moving object detection on the synthetic aperture radar (SAR) images. Capturing of moving objects in the SAR images is a difficult task. In this study, a new automated model for detecting moving objects is proposed using SAR images. The proposed model has four main steps, namely, preprocessing, segmentation, feature extraction, and classification. Initially, the input SAR image is pre-processed using a histogram equalization technique. Then, the weighted Otsu-based segmentation algorithm is applied for segmenting the object regions from the pre-processed images. When using the weighted Otsu, the segmented grayscale images are not only clear but also retain the detailed features of grayscale images. Next, feature extraction is carried out by gray-level co-occurrence matrix (GLCM), median binary patterns (MBPs), and additive harmonic mean estimated local Gabor binary pattern (AHME-LGBP). The final step is classification using deep ensemble models, where the objects are classified by employing the ensemble deep learning technique, combining the models like the bidirectional long short-term memory (Bi-LSTM), recurrent neural network (RNN), and improved deep belief network (IDBN), which is trained with the features extracted previously. The combined models increase the accuracy of the results significantly. Furthermore, ensemble modeling reduces the variance and modeling method bias, which decreases the chances of overfitting. Compared to a single contributing model, ensemble models perform better and make better predictions. Additionally, an ensemble lessens the spread or dispersion of the model performance and prediction accuracy. Finally, the performance of the proposed model is related to the conventional models with respect to different measures. In the mean-case scenario, the proposed ensemble model has a minimum error value of 0.032, which is better related to other models. In both median- and best-case scenario studies, the ensemble model has a lower error value of 0.029 and 0.015.

India is known for its rich cultural heritage with different cultures and customs. Indian historical traditions and cultures were molded in a manner that most older adults were cared for at home by their children. However, India is being urbanized and developing swiftly changing its socio-cultural scenarios. With globalization and the increased popularity of social media, the youth is more ambitious than ever and is ready to migrate and explore. Fueled by the rapid aging of the global population, demand is escalating for robust programs, policies, and activities to improve the lives of older adults. However, most of these schemes have not yet been fully implemented nationwide; several state governments have yet to realize their full potential due to the lack of resources and competing priorities. Aligning with the UN’s healthy aging agenda, several programs and policies in India are contributing toward ensuring quality aged care services. This paper explores the challenges and opportunities for effective ground-level translation from precepts to practice.

An Electrocardiogram (ECG) is a non-invasive test that is broadly utilized for monitoring and diagnosing the cardiac arrhythmia. An irregularity of the heartbeat is generally defined as arrhythmia, which potentially causes the fatal difficulties that creates an instantaneous life risk. Therefore, the arrhythmia classification is a challenging task because of the overfitting issue caused by high dimensional feature space of ECG signal. In this research, the incorporation of the Internet of Medical Things (IoMT) is developed with artificial intelligence to provide the health monitoring for people who are having arrhythmia. In this work, the time, time-frequency, entropy, nonlinearity features of ECG and deep features of ECG from Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) are extracted to obtain different categories of ECG signal features. The Selective Opposition (SO) strategy based Artificial Rabbits Optimization (SOARO) is proposed for selecting the optimal feature subset from the overall features to avoid the overfitting issue. The chosen features are used to improve the classification done by Auto Encoder (AE). Further, the Shapley additive explanations (SHAP) based model is used to interpret the classified output from AE. The MIT-BIH arrhythmia database is used for evaluating the proposed SOARO-AE. The performance of the proposed SOARO-AE is evaluated by using the accuracy, sensitivity, specificity, recall and F1-Measure. The existing researches such as C-LSTM, DL-LAC-CNN, CNN-DNN, MC-ECG, FC and MEAHA-CNN are used to evaluate the SOARO-AE method. The accuracy of SOARO-AE is 98.89% which is high when compared to the C-LSTM, DL-LAC-CNN, CNN-DNN, FC and MEAHA-CNN.

Abstract Virtual machines (VMs) are preferred by the majority of organizations due to their high performance. VMs allow for reduced overhead with multiple systems running from the same console at the same time. A physical server is a bare-metal system whose hardware is controlled by the host operating system. A physical server runs on a single instance of OS and application. A virtual server or virtual machine encapsulates the underlying hardware and networking resources. With the existing physical server, it is difficult to migrate the tasks from one platform to another platform or to a datacentre. Centralized security is difficult to setup. But with Hypervisor the virtual machine can be deployed, for instance, with automation. Virtualization cost increases as well as a decrease in hardware and infrastructure space costs. We propose an efficient Azure cloud framework for the utilization of physical server resources at remote VM servers. The proposed framework is implemented in two phases first by integrating physical servers into virtual ones by creating virtual machines, and then by integrating virtual servers into cloud service providers in a cost-effective manner. We create a virtual network in the Azure datacenter using the local host physical server to set up the various virtual machines. Two virtual machine instances, VM1 and VM2, are created using Microsoft Hyper-V with the server Windows 2016 R. The desktop application is deployed and VM performance is monitored using the PowerShell script. Tableau is used to evaluate the physical server functionality of the worksheet for the deployed application. The proposed Physical to Virtual to Cloud model (P2V2C) model is being tested, and the performance result shows that P2V2C migration is more successful in dynamic provisioning than direct migration to cloud platform infrastructure. The research work was carried out in a secure way through the migration process from P2V2C.

The rapid advancement of wireless communication combined with insufficient spectrum exploitation opens the door for the expansion of novel wireless services. Cognitive radio network (CRN) technology makes it possible to periodically access the open spectrum bands, which in turn improves the effectiveness of CRNs. Spectrum sensing (SS), which allows unauthorized users to locate open spectrum bands, plays a fundamental part in CRNs. A precise approximation of the power spectrum is essential to accomplish this. On the assumption that each SU’s parameter vector contains some globally and partially shared parameters, spectrum sensing is viewed as a parameter estimation issue. Distributed and cooperative spectrum sensing (CSS) is a key component of this concept. This work introduces a new component-specific cooperative spectrum sensing model (CSCSSM) in CRNs considering the amplitude and phase components of the input signal including Component Specific Adaptive Estimation (CSAE) for mean squared deviation (MSD) formulation. The proposed concept ensures minimum information loss compared to the traditional methods that consider error calculation among the direct signal vectors. The experimental results and performance analysis prove the robustness and efficiency of the proposed work over the traditional methods.

Today, methodologies based on learning models are utilized to generate precise conversion techniques for renewable sources. The methods based on Computational Intelligence (CI) are considered an effective way to generate renewable instruments. The energy-related complexities of developing such methods are dependent on the vastness of the data sets and number of parameters needed to be covered, both of which need to be carefully examined. The most recent and significant researchers in the field of learning-based approaches for renewable challenges are addressed in this article. There are several different Deep Learning (DL) and Machine Learning (ML) approaches that are utilized in solar, wind, hydro, and tidal energy sources. A new taxonomy is formed in the process of evaluating the effectiveness of the strategies that are described in the literature. This survey evaluates the advantages and the drawbacks of the existing methodologies and helps to find an effective approach to overcome the issues in the existing methods. In this study, various methods based on energy conversion systems in renewable source of energies like solar, wind, hydro power, and tidal energies are evaluated using ML and DL approaches.

Colorectal Cancer (CRC) has seen a dramatic increase in incidence globally. In 2019, colorectal cancer accounted for 1.15 million deaths and 24.28 million disability-adjusted life-years (DALYs) worldwide. In India, the annual incidence rates (AARs) for colon cancer was 4.4 per 100,000. There has been a steady rise in the prevalence of CRC in India which may be attributed to urbanization, mass migration of population, westernization of diet and lifestyle practices and a rise of obesity and metabolic risk factors that place the population at a higher risk of CRC. Moreoever, CRC in India differs from that described in the Western countries, with a higher proportion of young patients and more patients presenting with an advanced stage. This may be due to poor access to specialized healthcare and socio-economic factors. Early identification of adenomatous colonic polyps, which are well-recognized pre-cancerous lesions, at the time of screening colonoscopy has been shown to be the most effective measure used for CRC prevention. However, colonic polyps are frequently missed during colonoscopy and moreover, these screening programs necessitate man-power, time and resources for processing resected polyps, that may hamper penetration and efficacy in mid- to low-income countries. In the last decade, there has been significant progress made in the automatic detection of colonic polyps by multiple AI-based systems. With the advent of better AI methodology, the focus has shifted from mere detection to accurate discrimination and diagnosis of colonic polyps. These systems, once validated, could usher in a new era in Colorectal Cancer (CRC) prevention programs which would center around “Leave in-situ” and “Resect and discard” strategies. These new strategies hinge around the specificity and accuracy of AI based systems in correctly identifying the pathological diagnosis of the polyps, thereby providing the endoscopist with real-time information in order to make a clinical decision of either leaving the lesion in-situ (mucosal polyps) or resecting and discarding the polyp (hyperplastic polyps). The major advantage of employing these strategies would be in cost optimization of CRC prevention programs while ensuring good clinical outcomes. The adoption of these AI-based systems in the national cancer prevention program of India in accordance with the mandate to increase technology integration could prove to be cost-effective and enable implementation of CRC prevention programs at the population level. This level of penetration could potentially reduce the incidence of CRC and improve patient survival by enabling early diagnosis and treatment. In this review, we will highlight key advancements made in the field of AI in the identification of polyps during colonoscopy and explore the role of AI based systems in cost optimization during the universal implementation of CRC prevention programs in the context of mid-income countries like India.

In the present scenario, Alzheimer’s Disease (AD) is one of the incurable neuro-degenerative disorders, which accounts for nearly 60% to 70% of dementia cases. Currently, several machine-learning approaches and neuroimaging modalities are utilized for diagnosing AD. Among the available neuroimaging modalities, functional Magnetic Resonance Imaging (fMRI) is extensively utilized for studying brain activities related to AD. However, analyzing complex brain structures in fMRI is a time-consuming and complex task; so, a novel automated model was proposed in this manuscript for early diagnosis of AD using fMRI images. Initially, the fMRI images are acquired from an online dataset: Alzheimer’s Disease Neuroimaging Initiative (ADNI). Further, the quality of the acquired fMRI images was improved by implementing a normalization technique. Then, the Segmentation by Aggregating Superpixels (SAS) method was implemented for segmenting the brain regions (AD, Normal Controls (NC), Mild Cognitive Impairment (MCI), Early Mild Cognitive Impairment (EMCI), Late Mild Cognitive Impairment (LMCI), and Significant Memory Concern (SMC)) from the denoised fMRI images. From the segmented brain regions, feature vectors were extracted by employing Gabor and Gray Level Co-Occurrence Matrix (GLCM) techniques. The obtained feature vectors were dimensionally reduced by implementing Honey Badger Optimization Algorithm (HBOA) and fed to the Multi-Layer Perceptron (MLP) model for classifying the fMRI images as AD, NC, MCI, EMCI, LMCI, and SMC. The extensive investigation indicated that the presented model attained 99.44% of classification accuracy, 88.90% of Dice Similarity Coefficient (DSC), 90.82% of Jaccard Coefficient (JC), and 88.43% of Hausdorff Distance (HD). The attained results are better compared with the conventional segmentation and classification models.

This concept paper addresses specific challenges identified in the UN 2030 Agenda Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) as well as the National Health Policy of India (NHP-India) and the Ministry of Health Policy of UAE (MHP-UAE). This policy calls for a digital health technology ecosystem. SDG Goal 1 and its related objectives are conceptualized which serves as the foundation for Virtual Consultations, Tele-pharmacy, Virtual Storage, and Virtual Community (VCom). SDG Goals 2 and 3 are conceptualized as Data Management & Analytical (DMA) Architecture. Individual researchers and health care professionals in India and the UAE can use DMA to uncover and harness PHC and POC data into practical insights. In addition, the DMA would provide a set of core tools for cross-network initiatives, allowing researchers and other users to compare their data with DMA data. In rural, urban, and remote populations of the UAE and India, the concept augments the PHC system with ICT-based interventions. The ICT-based interventions may improve patient health outcomes. The open and flexible design allows users to access various digital materials. Extendable data/metadata format, scalable architecture for petabyte-scale federated discovery. The modular DMA is designed using existing technology and resources. Public health functions include population health assessment, policy development, and monitoring policy implementation. PHC and POC periodically conduct syndromic surveillance to identify population risk patterns. In addition, the PHC and POC deploy medical and non-medical preventive measures to prevent disease outbreaks. To assess the impact of social and economic factors on health, epidemiologists must first understand diseases. Improved health due to compliance with holistic disease treatment plans and access to scientific health information.

Background: Children with disabilities are expected to have poor nutritional status in comparison to children without disabilities. However, limited data on nutritional status of children with and without disabilities in rural settings in India. Objective: To assess and compare the nutritional status of children with and without disability. Methods: A cross-sectional study among children aged 5–15 years was conducted in the rural practise area of a medical college in Karnataka. 290 children (145 with and 145 children without disability) of similar age and sex were studied. Age and sex-specific World Health Organization (WHO) BMI centiles, 24 h dietary calorie and protein intakes were assessed and compared. Median and interquartile ranges were calculated for quantitative variables. Mann–Whitney U test was used to assess the differences in quantitative variables among the two groups. Results: As per WHO BMI centiles, 33.1% with and 37.20% without disabilities were undernourished. The median calorie consumed by children with disabilities was 1169.0 (946.5–1586.0) significantly lower compared to that of children without disability, that is, 1362.0 (1167.0–1641.0). The median protein consumed by children with disabilities was 28.0 (22.5–38.0) significantly lower compared to that of children without disability, that is, 32.0 (28.0–40.0). Conclusions: Children with disabilities had similar rates of undernutrition as that of their non-disabled peers and their lesser dietary intake in terms of calories and proteins.

Multi-morbidity is the presence of two or more long-term health conditions, including defined physical or mental health conditions, such as diabetes or schizophrenia. One of the regular and critical health cases is an elderly person with a multi-morbid health condition and special complications who lives alone. These patients are typically not familiar with advanced Information and Communications Technology (ICT), but they are comfortable using smart devices such as wearable watches and mobile phones. The use of ICT improves medical quality, promotes patient security and data security, lowers operational and administrative costs, and gives the people in charge to make informed decisions. Additionally, the use of ICT in healthcare practices greatly reduces human errors, enhances clinical outcomes, ramps up care coordination, boosts practice efficiencies, and helps in collecting data over time. The proposed research concept provides a natural technique to implement preventive health care innovative solutions since several health sensors are embedded in devices that autonomously monitor the patients' health conditions in real-time. This enhances the elder's limited ability to predict and respond to critical health situations. Autonomous monitoring can alert doctors and patients themselves of unexpected health conditions. Real-time monitoring, modeling, and predicting health conditions can trigger swift responses by doctors and health officials in case of emergencies. This study will use data science to stimulate discoveries and breakthroughs in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and India, which will then be reproduced in other world areas to create major gains in health for people, communities, and populations.

The majority of the world's population is still facing difficulties in getting access to primary healthcare facilities. Universal health coverage (UHC) proposes access to high-quality, affordable primary healthcare for all. The 17 UN sustainable development goals (SDGs) are expected to be executed and achieved by all the 193 countries through national sustainable development strategies and multi-stakeholder partnerships. This article addresses SDG 3.8—access to good quality and affordable healthcare and two subindicators related to societal impact (SDG 3.8.1 and 3.8.2) through two objectives. The first objective is to determine whether health expenditure indicators (HEIs) drive UHC, and the second objective is to analyze the importance of key determinants and their interactions with UHC in three economic blocks: emerging Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC); developing Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa (BRICS) vis-à-vis the developed Australia, UK, and USA (AUKUS). We use the WHO Global Health Indicator database and UHC periodical surveys to evaluate the hypotheses. We apply state-of-the-art machine learning (ML) models and ordinary least square (traditional—OLS regression) methods to see the superiority of artificial intelligence (AI) over traditional ones. The ML Random Forest Tree method is found to be superior to the OLS model in terms of lower root mean square error (RMSE). The ML results indicate that domestic private health expenditure (PVT-D), out-of-pocket expenditure (OOPS) per Capita in US dollars, and voluntary health insurance (VHI) as a percentage of current health expenditure (CHE) are the key factors influencing UHC across the three economic blocks. Our findings have implications for drafting health and finance sector public policies, such as providing affordable social health insurance to the weaker sections of the population, making insurance premiums less expensive and affordable for the masses, and designing healthcare financing policies that are beneficial to the masses. UHC is an important determinant of health for all and requires an in-depth analysis of related factors. Policymakers are often faced with the challenge of prioritizing the economic needs of sectors such as education and food safety, making it difficult for healthcare to receive its due share. In this context, this article attempts to identify the key components that may influence the attainment of UHC and enable policy changes to address them more effectively and efficiently.

Electric vehicles (EVs) and photovoltaic (PV) systems have been progressively incorporated into the grid in recent years principally due to two factors: reduced energy costs and lower pollutants. Numerous studies have investigated how integrating PV and EVs into the grid may affect specific people. It is crucial to understand that the electricity grid will experience the combined effects of PV–EV integration as PV and EV penetration increases. The primary motivation for PV’s integration with Vehicle-to-Grid (V2G) and Grid-to-Vehicle (G2V) services is the aim to reduce charging costs from discharging; moreover, another prerequisite must be satisfied before PV arrays will be able to provide V2G services. The range between the driving limit and EV battery degradation should be reasonable. The way EVs charge and discharge will be impacted by these factors. Numerous analyses are required in order to control the power between various source and load scenarios. In order to balance grids and manage frequency, controllers such as Improved Particle Swarm Optimization (IPSO), Improved Ant Colony Optimization (IACO), and Improved Mayfly Optimization (IMO) are used. As a result, V2G/G2V helps feed electricity back into the grid. By providing the proper duty cycle ratio, the proposed controller regulates converter switching. This study allowed for the performance analysis and operation simulation of a grid-connected PV/EV/Grid system. The purpose of this system was to maximize PV self-consumption while maintaining power quality characteristics like harmonics, grid voltage/current, and power factor.

The objective of the proposed work is to develop a Maximum Power Point Tracking (MPPT) controller and inverter controller by applying the adaptive least mean square (LMS) algorithm to control the total harmonics distortion of a solar photovoltaic system. The advantage of the adaptive LMS algorithm is given by its simplicity and reduced required computational time. The adaptive LMS algorithm is applied to modify the Perturb and Observe (P&O), MPPT controller. In this controller, the adaptive LMS algorithm is used to predict solar photovoltaic power. The adaptive LMS maximum power point tracking controller gives better optimal solutions with less steady error 0.7% (6 watts) and 0% peak overshot in power with the tradeoff being more settling time at 0.33 s. The development of the inverter control law is performed using the d-q frame theory. This helps to reduce the number of equations to build a control law. The load current, grid current and grid voltage are sensed and transformed into d and q components. This adaptive LMS control law is used to extract the reference grid currents and, later, to compare them with the actual grid currents. The result of this comparison is used to generate the switching gate pulses for the inverter switches. The proposed controllers are developed and implemented with a solar PV system in MATLAB Simulink. The total harmonics distortion in grid and load current (3.25% and 7%) and voltage (0%) is investigated under linear and non-linear load conditions with changes in solar irradiations. The analysis is performed by selecting step incremental values and sampling time.

In an electric vehicle (EV), using more than one energy source often provides a safe ride without concerns about range. EVs are powered by photovoltaic (PV), battery, and ultracapacitor (UC) systems. The overall results of this arrangement are an increase in travel distance; a reduction in battery size; improved reaction, especially under overload; and an extension of battery life. Improved results allow the energy to be used efficiently, provide a comfortable ride, and require fewer energy sources. In this research, energy management between the PV system and the hybrid energy storage system (HESS), including the battery, and UC are discussed. The energy management control algorithms called Artificial Neural Network (ANN) and Aquila Optimizer Algorithm (AOA) are proposed. The proposed combined ANN–AOA approach takes full advantage of UC while limiting the battery discharge current, since it also mitigates high-speed dynamic battery charging and discharging currents. The responses’ behaviors are depicted and viewed in the MATLAB simulation environment to represent load variations and various road conditions. We also discuss the management among the PV system, battery, and UC to achieve the higher speed of 91 km/h when compared with existing Modified Harmony Search (MHS) and Genetic Algorithm-based Proportional Integral Derivative (GA-PID). The outcomes of this study could aid researchers and professionals from the automotive industry as well as various third parties involved in designing, maintaining, and evaluating a variety of energy sources and storage systems, especially renewable ones.

In recent decades, big data analysis has become the most important research topic. Hence, big data security offers Cloud application security and monitoring to host highly sensitive data to support Cloud platforms. However, the privacy and security of big data has become an emerging issue that restricts the organization to utilize Cloud services. The existing privacy preserving approaches showed several drawbacks such as a lack of data privacy and accurate data analysis, a lack of efficiency of performance, and completely rely on third party. In order to overcome such an issue, the Triple Data Encryption Standard (TDES) methodology is proposed to provide security for big data in the Cloud environment. The proposed TDES methodology provides a relatively simpler technique by increasing the sizes of keys in Data Encryption Standard (DES) to protect against attacks and defend the privacy of data. The experimental results showed that the proposed TDES method is effective in providing security and privacy to big healthcare data in the Cloud environment. The proposed TDES methodology showed less encryption and decryption time compared to the existing Intelligent Framework for Healthcare Data Security (IFHDS) method.

Land Use and Land Cover (LULC) monitoring is crucial for global transformation, sustainable land control, urban planning, urban growth prediction, and the establishment of climate regulations for long-term development. Remote sensing images have become increasingly important in many environmental planning and land use surveys in recent times. LULC is evaluated in this research using the Sat 4, Sat 6, and Eurosat datasets. Various spectral feature bands are involved, but unexpectedly little consideration has been given to these characteristics in deep learning models. Due to the wide availability of RGB models in computer vision, this research mainly utilized RGB bands. Once the pre-processing is carried out for the images of the selected dataset, the hybrid feature extraction is performed using Haralick texture features, an oriented gradient histogram, a local Gabor binary pattern histogram sequence, and Harris Corner Detection to extract features from the images. After that, the Improved Mayfly Optimization (IMO) method is used to choose the optimal features. IMO-based feature selection algorithms have several advantages that include features such as a high learning rate and computational efficiency. After obtaining the optimal feature selection, the LULC classes are classified using a multi-class classifier known as the Multiplicative Long Short-Term Memory (mLSTM) network. The main functionality of the multiplicative LSTM classifier is to recall appropriate information for a comprehensive duration. In order to accomplish an improved result in LULC classification, a higher amount of remote sensing data should be processed. So, the simulation outcomes demonstrated that the proposed IMO-mLSTM efficiently classifies the LULC classes in terms of classification accuracy, recall, and precision. When compared with ConvNet and Alexnet, the proposed IMO-mLSTM method accomplished accuracies of 99.99% on Sat 4, 99.98% on Sat 6, and 98.52% on the Eurosat datasets.

In recent decades, tool wear monitoring has played a crucial role in the improvement of industrial production quality and efficiency. In the machining process, it is important to predict both tool cost and life, and to reduce the equipment downtime. The conventional methods need enormous quantities of human resources and expert skills to achieve precise tool wear information. To automatically identify the tool wear types, deep learning models are extensively used in the existing studies. In this manuscript, a new model is proposed for the effective classification of both serviceable and worn cutting edges. Initially, a dataset is chosen for experimental analysis that includes 254 images of edge profile cutting heads; then, circular Hough transform, canny edge detector, and standard Hough transform are used to segment 577 cutting edge images, where 276 images are disposable and 301 are functional. Furthermore, feature extraction is carried out on the segmented images utilizing Local Binary Pattern (LBPs) and Speeded up Robust Features (SURF), Harris Corner Detection (HCD), Histogram of Oriented Gradients (HOG), and Grey-Level Co-occurrence Matrix (GLCM) feature descriptors for extracting the texture feature vectors. Next, the dimension of the extracted features is reduced by an Improved Dragonfly Optimization Algorithm (IDOA) that lowers the computational complexity and running time of the Deep Belief Network (DBN), while classifying the serviceable and worn cutting edges. The experimental evaluations showed that the IDOA-DBN model attained 98.83% accuracy on the patch configuration of full edge division, which is superior to the existing deep learning models.

Background: Convicts punished with death sentences are reported to show a higher vulnerability for depression than the general population and other convicts. Previous studies have looked at the prevalence of depression in convicts; however, no studies from India have examined depression specifically among death row convicts. The present study aims to assess the prevalence of depression among death row convicts. Methods: This is a cross-sectional study conducted among 28 death row convicts from a South Indian State, using a semi-structured questionnaire and Beck's Depression Inventory-II. After obtaining necessary permission from the government and prison authorities to interview the convicts, two visits were made to Central Prison, Belgaum. Descriptive statistics were used to measure the frequencies and percentage. Results: Most convicts in this study were aged between 30 and 60 years (68.96%) and predominantly male (93.10%). The majority of the convicts had either mild or no depression, while the rest had moderate to severe depression (57.15% vs 42.85%). Depression was significantly higher during the initial phase of the conviction (57.13%). There was an inverse trend of depression (57.13%, ? 6 years vs 42.85%, > 6 years) with the duration of stay in prison. Conclusions: Depression is prevalent among death row convicts. More systematic observation and analyses are needed from both the legal and medical fraternity to look at the death sentence and its impact on mental health.

Nowadays, the Long-Term Evolution-Advanced system is widely used to provide 5G communication due to its improved network capacity and less delay during communication. The main issues in the 5G network are insufficient user resources and burst errors, because it creates losses in data transmission. In order to overcome this, an effective Radio Resource Management (RRM) is required to be developed in the 5G network. In this paper, the Long Short-Term Memory (LSTM) network is proposed to develop the radio resource management in the 5G network. The proposed LSTM-RRM is used for assigning an adequate power and bandwidth to the desired user equipment of the network. Moreover, the Grid Search Optimization (GSO) is used for identifying the optimal hyperparameter values for LSTM. In radio resource management, a request queue is used to avoid the unwanted resource allocation in the network. Moreover, the losses during transmission are minimized by using frequency interleaving and guard level insertion. The performance of the LSTM-RRM method has been analyzed in terms of throughput, outage percentage, dual connectivity, User Sum Rate (USR), Threshold Sum Rate (TSR), Outdoor Sum Rate (OSR), threshold guaranteed rate, indoor guaranteed rate, and outdoor guaranteed rate. The indoor guaranteed rate of LSTM-RRM for 1400 m of building distance improved up to 75.38% compared to the existing QOC-RRM.

In modern trends, wireless sensor networks (WSNs) are interesting, and distributed in the environment to evaluate received data. The sensor nodes have a higher capacity to sense and transmit the information. A WSN contains low-cost, low-power, multi-function sensor nodes, with limited computational capabilities, used for observing environmental constraints. In previous research, many energy-efficient routing methods were suggested to improve the time of the network by minimizing energy consumption; sometimes, the sensor nodes run out of power quickly. The majority of recent articles present various methods aimed at reducing energy usage in sensor networks. In this paper, an energy-efficient clustering/routing technique, called the energy and distance based multi-objective red fox optimization algorithm (ED-MORFO), was proposed to reduce energy consumption. In each communication round of transmission, this technique selects the cluster head (CH) with the most residual energy, and finds the optimal routing to the base station. The simulation clearly shows that the proposed ED-MORFO achieves better performance in terms of energy consumption (0.46 J), packet delivery ratio (99.4%), packet loss rate (0.6%), end-to-end delay (11 s), routing overhead (0.11), throughput (0.99 Mbps), and network lifetime (3719 s), when compared with existing MCH-EOR and RDSAOA-EECP methods.

In a recent trend, electric vehicles (EV) have been facing various power quality issues, so fuel cells (FC) are considered the best choice for integrating EV technology to enhance performance. A fuel cell electric vehicle (FCEV) is a type of EV that uses a fuel cell combined with a small battery or super-capacitor to power its on-board electric motor. However, the power obtained from the FC system is much less and is not enough to drive the EV. So, another energy source is required to deliver the demanded power, which should contain high voltage gain with high conversion efficiency. The traditional converter produces a high output voltage at a high duty cycle, which generates various problems, such as reverse recovery issues, voltage spikes, and less lifespan. High switching frequency and voltage gain are essential for the propulsion of FC-based EV. Therefore, this paper presents an improved radial basis function (RBF)-based high-gain converter (HGC) to enhance the voltage gain and conversion efficiency of the entire system. The RBF neural model was constructed using the fast recursive algorithm (FRA) strategy to prune redundant hidden-layer neurons. The improved RBF technique reduces the input current ripple and voltage stress on the power semiconductor devices to increase the conversion ratio of the HGC without changing the duty cycle value. In the end, the improved RBF with HGC achieved an efficiency of 98.272%, vehicle speed of 91 km/h, and total harmonic distortion (THD) of 3.12%, which was simulated using MATLAB, and its waveforms for steady-state operation were analyzed and compared with existing methods.

Nowadays, a large number of digital data are transmitted worldwide using wireless communications. Therefore, data security is a significant task in communication to prevent cybercrimes and avoid information loss. The Advanced Encryption Standard (AES) is a highly efficient secure mechanism that outperforms other symmetric key cryptographic algorithms using message secrecy. However, AES is efficient in terms of software and hardware implementation, and numerous modifications are done in the conventional AES architecture to improve the performance. This research article proposes a significant modification to the AES architecture’s key expansion section to increase the speed of producing subkeys. The fork–join model of key expansion (FJMKE) architecture is developed to improve the speed of the subkey generation process, whereas the hardware resources of AES are minimized by avoiding the frequent computation of secret keys. The AES-FJMKE architecture generates all of the required subkeys in less than half the time required by the conventional architecture. The proposed AES-FJMKE architecture is designed and simulated using the Xilinx ISE 5.1 software. The Field Programmable Gate Arrays (FPGAs) behaviour of the AES-FJMKE architecture is analysed by means of performance count for hardware resources, delay, and operating frequency. The existing AES architectures such as typical AES, AES-PNSG, AES-AT, AES-BE, ISAES, AES-RS, and AES-MPPRM are used to evaluate the efficiency of AES-FJMKE. The AES-FJMKE implemented using Spartan 6 FPGA used fewer slices (i.e., 76) than the AES-RS.

In recent trends, wireless sensor networks (WSNs) have become popular because of their cost, simple structure, reliability, and developments in the communication field. The Internet of Things (IoT) refers to the interconnection of everyday objects and sharing of information through the Internet. Congestion in networks leads to transmission delays and packet loss and causes wastage of time and energy on recovery. The routing protocols are adaptive to the congestion status of the network, which can greatly improve the network performance. In this research, collision-aware routing using the multi-objective seagull optimization algorithm (CAR-MOSOA) is designed to meet the efficiency of a scalable WSN. The proposed protocol exploits the clustering process to choose cluster heads to transfer the data from source to endpoint, thus forming a scalable network, and improves the performance of the CAR-MOSOA protocol. The proposed CAR-MOSOA is simulated and examined using the NS-2.34 simulator due to its modularity and inexpensiveness. The results of the CAR-MOSOA are comprehensively investigated with existing algorithms such as fully distributed energy-aware multi-level (FDEAM) routing, energy-efficient optimal multi-path routing protocol (EOMR), tunicate swarm grey wolf optimization (TSGWO), and CoAP simple congestion control/advanced (CoCoA). The simulation results of the proposed CAR-MOSOA for 400 nodes are as follows: energy consumption, 33 J; end-to-end delay, 29 s; packet delivery ratio, 95%; and network lifetime, 973 s, which are improved compared to the FDEAM, EOMR, TSGWO, and CoCoA.

The Electric Energy Consumption Prediction (EECP) is a complex and important process in an intelligent energy management system and its importance has been increasing rapidly due to technological developments and human population growth. A reliable and accurate model for EECP is considered a key factor for an appropriate energy management policy. In recent periods, many artificial intelligence-based models have been developed to perform different simulation functions, engineering techniques, and optimal energy forecasting in order to predict future energy demands on the basis of historical data. In this article, a new metaheuristic based on a Long Short-Term Memory (LSTM) network model is proposed for an effective EECP. After collecting data sequences from the Individual Household Electric Power Consumption (IHEPC) dataset and Appliances Load Prediction (AEP) dataset, data refinement is accomplished using min-max and standard transformation methods. Then, the LSTM network with Butterfly Optimization Algorithm (BOA) is developed for EECP. In this article, the BOA is used to select optimal hyperparametric values which precisely describe the EEC patterns and discover the time series dynamics in the energy domain. This extensive experiment conducted on the IHEPC and AEP datasets shows that the proposed model obtains a minimum error rate relative to the existing models.

Smart home and smart building systems based on the Internet of Things (IoT) in smart cities currently suffer from security issues. In particular, data trustworthiness and efficiency are two major concerns in Internet of Things (IoT)-based Wireless Sensor Networks (WSN). Various approaches, such as routing methods, intrusion detection, and path selection, have been applied to improve the security and efficiency of real-time networks. Path selection and malicious node discovery provide better solutions in terms of security and efficiency. This study proposed the Dynamic Bargaining Game (DBG) method for node selection and data transfer, to increase the data trustworthiness and efficiency. The data trustworthiness and efficiency are considered in the Pareto optimal solution to select the node, and the bargaining method assigns the disagreement measure to the nodes to eliminate the malicious nodes from the node selection. The DBG method performs the search process in a distributed manner that helps to find an effective solution for the dynamic networks. In this study, the data trustworthiness was measured based on the node used for data transmission and throughput was measured to analyze the efficiency. An SF attack was simulated in the network and the packet delivery ratio was measured to test the resilience of the DBG and existing methods. The results of the packet delivery ratio showed that the DBG method has higher resilience than the existing methods in a dynamic network. Moreover, for 100 nodes, the DBG method has higher data trustworthiness of 98% and throughput of 398 Mbps, whereas the existing fuzzy cross entropy method has data trustworthiness of 94% and a throughput of 334 Mbps.

Satellite image classification is widely used in various real-time applications, such as the military, geospatial surveys, surveillance and environmental monitoring. Therefore, the effective classification of satellite images is required to improve classification accuracy. In this paper, the combination of Hierarchical Framework and Ensemble Learning (HFEL) and optimal feature selection is proposed for the precise identification of satellite images. The HFEL uses three different types of Convolutional Neural Networks (CNN), namely AlexNet, LeNet-5 and a residual network (ResNet), to extract the appropriate features from images of the hierarchical framework. Additionally, the optimal features from the feature set are extracted using the Correlation Coefficient-Based Gravitational Search Algorithm (CCGSA). Further, the Multi Support Vector Machine (MSVM) is used to classify the satellite images by extracted features from the fully connected layers of the CNN and selected features of the CCGSA. Hence, the combination of HFEL and CCGSA is used to obtain the precise classification over different datasets such as the SAT-4, SAT-6 and Eurosat datasets. The performance of the proposed HFEL–CCGSA is analyzed in terms of accuracy, precision and recall. The experimental results show that the HFEL–CCGSA method provides effective classification over the satellite images. The classification accuracy of the HFEL–CCGSA method is 99.99%, which is high when compared to AlexNet, LeNet-5 and ResNet.

Nowadays, many organizations and individual users are employing cloud services extensively due to their efficiency, reliability and low cost. A key aspect for cloud data centers is to achieve management methods to reduce energy consumption, increasing the profit and reducing the environmental impact, which is critical in the deployment of leading-edge technologies today such as blockchain and digital finances, IoT, online gaming and video streaming. In this review, various clustering, optimization, and machine learning methods used in cloud resource allocation to increase the energy efficiency and performance are analyzed, compared and classified. Specifically, on the one hand, we discuss how clustering methods and optimization techniques are widely applied in energy management due to their capacity to provide solutions for energy consumption reduction. On the other hand, we study how multi-objective optimization methods focus on reducing energy consumption as well as service level agreement (SLA) violation, and improving quality of services (QoS) simultaneously. Also, we discuss how optimization methods such as the firefly algorithm, whale optimization algorithm (WOA), particle swarm optimization (PSO) and genetic algorithm (GA) provide the highest performance in the field. Moreover, we analyze how machine learning methods such as deep neural network (DNN), random forest, and support vector machine (SVM) are applied to the prediction of energy consumption in the cloud, showing an accurate performance in this prediction. Nevertheless, we study how the existing methods still have limitations of low convergence, trap into local optima and overfitting.

Background: Internship is an important phase in medical students' training, which can have a bearing on the attitude they develop towards various specialties and illnesses. Very few studies have tried to assess the effect of clinical rotation on the attitude of interns towards Psychiatry. This study was planned to assess the same before and after a 2 week posting in Psychiatry. Aims: To study the change in the attitude of interns towards psychiatry before and after clinical rotation in Psychiatry. Methods: The study sample comprised of 60 interns in a tertiary care teaching hospital. Medical Condition Regard Scale (MCRS) was used to assess the attitude of interns towards Psychiatry before and after a 2 week Psychiatry rotation. Non-parametric tests were used to analyze the data obtained. Results: Many individual items and the overall scores of MCRS showed significant improvement for both psychiatric illness and alcohol and drug dependence after the 2 week Psychiatry rotation. Increase in MCRS score indicates improvement in the attitude towards Psychiatry. Conclusions: The attitude of interns towards Psychiatry improved following a 2 week clinical rotation in Psychiatry. Further studies are needed to better understand the factors that may influence the attitude of interns.
